French producer Etienne is a musician like few others in his field. A multifaceted individual with a knack for unearthing rare tracks and weaving them together as only he knows how, he's also a deft hand when it comes to crafting sonically-appealing house and techno. It's this meticulous way of working that's led to him to working with a close-knit group of genuinely exciting artists and labels, be it Frankfurt label Traffic or London party starters, Undersound. On his debut LP, released here via his own new imprint, Reductive, we're supplied with a killer reminder of the man's production prowess.

Spread over 2x12's, the record gets underway courtesy of the techno/electro stylings of 'Signé Furax'. An abrasive, in-your-face cut that immediately lets the listener know he means business, it's a upfront introduction to an LP that's littered with expert moments throughout. 'All About' showcases the producer's more introspective touch, while '3rd Nuke' brings us kicking and screaming back toward more forceful, synth-led planes. The first half of the record culminates courtesy of 'Forget Me Not', another space-tinged cut that takes its lead from vintage Detroit sounds.

Growling and menacing, 'Lies.Inc' then picks up where 'Forget Me Not' left off. Another twisted, gnarly jam that's been made for peak time 'floors, it's full of zest and bristling kicks from start to finish. 'The Doubtful Guest' is similar in stature, but the album takes a wonderful left turn by the time we're introduced to 'Information Society'. Much as Jeff Mills is known for pairing things back a bit courtesy of his Milsart project, Etienne does a similar trick here. The album's warmest and catchiest track, it takes us by surprise but also provides welcome respite to the slamming sounds elsewhere. The haunting sounds of 'Squall' then bring things to a conclusion courtesy of a heavily-filtered jam that wraps things up nicely and sees us out in astute fashion.

While the very essence of techno means it's often cold, unrelenting and brutal in stature, Etienne has pulled off a rare feat here by supplying us with an album that's all those things — but also catchy, melodic and thoroughly engaging throughout. Yes, this selection of tracks will bang hard on the dancefloor, but chances are they will also be the ones you'll be humming on your way home from the club.

Dutch maestro Reimer Eising returns with a new lesson in high class braindance electronica for Analogical Force. Just one year on from the inspiring 'Wingtip' album on Clone Records and many (like us) have been looking forward to his new stuff, now the wait is over. 'Alacasa', the result of months of work, sees Reimer delving into his unique world of delicate drum patterns, kaleidoscopic synths, 4/4 beats and breaks, acid-tinged melodies, ghostly pads...blah blah blah... Kettel presents this with such immaculate care and attention to detail, production and pacing. The EP includes a dreamy and evocative remix from Swedish hero Rolando Simmons, pure bliss to get lost in. No more words are needed, you know what to do.

Druzhba marks its seventh release with three hypnotic tracks by the aesthetic master Laughing Man with Pavel Iudin on remix duties. 300 copies only - don't waste too much time.

The first release on this new label of Hardcore legend DJ Ruffneck is one to remember.

Under his Ruffneck prime Moniker this legendary dj & producer delivers two hard techno tracks with a gritty deep underground tempo feeling. Phat industrial sounding kicks without going over the top combined with well balanced grooves.

Whereas Sign of the 13th pyramid delivers eerie sounds and a post apocalyptic feeling, Haka (War dance) leans towards primal deep techno with a thick nasty driven bassline!

With support by Ghost in the machine & Remco Beekwilder who have been frequently already dropping these tunes in his sets this release will prove to be the blueprint of a hard techno underground label to keep an eye on.

Jazz-O-Tech introduces Black Gardenia Vol.1 composed by Berlin-based duo BEAT MOVEMENT.
The duo presents an unusual, psychedelic and moving techno jazz EP in collaboration with techno pioneer Sunil Sharpe, Italian saxophonist and composer Gianni Mimmo and the jazz quartet Gamapawa.
Black Gardenia is a mesmerizing aesthetic sound experience, taking the listener on abstract journeys and into cinematic sceneries. The title track "Silent Rain" opens the A-side with a soft and emotional fusion of drones and saxophone, followed by the sovereign and psychedelic slow groove of the track "Aphex Twin shot my neck". The B-side is a dancefloor killer combination between Sunil Sharpe's intelligent techno remix of “Silent Rain” and Gamapawa's featuring track "Untitled Reconstruction", where drums and saxophone reach the speed of 150 bpm.
Black Gardenia will be distributed worldwide in 300 limited edition copies.

The air is glimmering: summer. The night Jackie stole your heart. At the outdoor pool. Her red hair. Imagine how sparks emit out of happiness. Bang! Your world is unhinged: Zöllner choked his wife. Edda, the 21 year old from the video store is chasing you. You enter the ring with buddy Kondor. Again and again you think you saw an Indian. And at showdown an almost biblical thunderstorm arises. Is that what it feels like - the adventure of being young A 17-year-old boy is at the odds with himself and the world. Pretty normal. But the coming-of-age-story Es war einmal Indianerland' is not normal: it's exceptional. Thrilling. Imaginative. Ben Gibson and Fundamental Interaction each deliver two pieces of razor sharp modern techno for their label, Dyad.

One of the most prolific and best-loved producers in underground, electronic music, Fred P christens his new label, Perpetual Sound, with a return to one of his best-loved projects, Black Jazz Consortium.

Perpetual Sound represents an exciting new start following Fred P's decision to bring his former label, Soul People Music, to its natural end. Guided by his keen eye for emotion and experimentation, the label is set to unfold as a space to explorer a wider variety of styles and genres, with Fred able to invite guest collaborators into the fold for future releases.

This first release, knowingly titled 'Evolutions', is rich in the steppin', jazz-tech style that Black Jazz Consortium effortlessly injects with quite so much soul. Opening the EP, the Fred P reshape of 'Essential Paradise', featuring Slikk Tim, is a dynamic house-groover of the timeless variety that the NYC artist continuously makes seem so effortless. Immediately following on, 'Mystery Of Fantasy' generates a wide-eyed swell of orchestral strings, establishing a forward-thinking sense of wonder and opportunity.

From London, Mr. G adapts the same track with one of his hypnotic soundboy stomps, and an alluring vocal, slowly blossoming into a lo-slung groover with a legitimate hardcore and rave influence. After this wave of energy, the record concludes on a more mellow yet equally compelling note with the 'Continuation Interlude' edition of 'Black Key Experiment', a spectral denouement who soft keys and spoken-word samples concerning mankind, technology and the future, reflect the sixties-futurism evident on the record's evocative cover.

Fred's previous label, Soul People Music, has been the outlet for a distinctive style of house music for over a decade. A sound steeped in emotion, musicality, warmth and deepness, the imprint provided a home for Fred's numerous aliases, and artists he championed. Until now most of the catalogue has not been available digitally, but with additional high demand for represses of numerous titles, Fred has decided that fans both old and new be able to enjoy music from the Soul People Music catalogue however they wish. Cosmin TRG is back on his white label operation, Sportiv. Brixtonstrasse explores an imaginary buffer zone between the urban angst of London's pirate transmissions and the warehouse logic of Berlin's post-Iron Curtain freedom and energy explosion. In line with the label's semiotics, Gloria is named after the rather unsuccessful 3rd League football club from Cosmin's home town. It's a high octane tribal workout with fuzzy chords, in the vein of 90s luminaries like Sterac, bringing back hints of the era's unbridled energy and enthusiasm.

Having last graced Etruria Beat with his excellent 'Peruana' EP, backed by remixes from Twr72 and label boss Luca Agnelli and after a great ep on Pfirter's label Mindtrip record, home grown talent Diego Amura returns to Etruria with his 'Phalaina' EP, featuring two new originals backed by a brace of heavyweight remixes. The title track with its violent kick and rough bass receives not one, but two remixes from UK techno pioneer Ben Sims. Two different interpretations in his Spacey and Jackin' remixes that both deliver intense grooves, spacey synths and thumping beats. Diego's 'Euphausia' with its strong 909 groove and hypnotic flavour is reworked by Figure, Clergy artist and SK_eleven boss Setaoc Mass, who delivers a stripped, but imposing offering that will ignite any dancefloor.

MindTrip is glad to introduce Dold, a huge young talent from the Swedish Techno scene. Known for his first releases on Float Records and his platform Arsenik, 'Shutdown' EP showcases a big range of his musical identity. Dold takes us into a hypnotic journey with his melodic interpretations, while he moves things faster on the darkest side of this EP, with his driven techno tracks fully inspired by 909 patterns and analog synth jams. We are really happy to welcome such a young and furious spirit on the label, and we do believe his tunes work best if you play them out loud. This is MindTrip!

For the 9th installment in the PRRUKWHT series, Holland based ''Dubiosity'' makes his re-appearance on the Planet Rhythm imprint with the 4 tracks spanning ''Denying The Antecedent EP''. For the A1 ''Richter Scale'' the Dutch producer goes into very atmospheric territories with a pad based track that keeps on building whilst maintaining an overall mellow vibe. Title track ''Denying The Antecedent'' is a more dubbed out operation which cleverly uses non 4X4 drum patterns and crawling synth blops. This track is also based upon an utterly atmospheric pad sound. ''Juxtaposed'' is a more firm track that's somewhat tense but also with a smooth ambiance. ''Sunk Cost Fallecy'' serves as the more aggressive and paranoid closing down.

Having reached double digits on its release roster, Amsterdam-based techno label Format presents its 11th release. And it s a three-piece ensemble by label honcho Juan Sanchez himself

FR011 delivers three techno bombs that perfectly reflect the Format sound. Things kick off with Despite the... , which combines deep grooves to staccato bass pulses designed for peak-time moments. Spanish DJ/producer Aiken delivers a superb remix that is propelled by a nasty industrial groove and coated in dark atmospheres. Closing the release is the sinister In The Dark , which is as deep as it is trippy...

FORMAT second 2017 release is another prime example of the label s coveted sound.

This is the first solo work by Kwartz released by the Warm Up imprint. A vinyl four-tracker and an extended seven track EP as its digital counterpart.

The young Spanish talent displays all his production skills in this release that opens with the compact kick drums and arpeggiated madness of "Rite", spiced with sweeps and drones that interweave with the hypnotic arrangement. In his first rework, Oscar Mulero reduces the bass drum punch, twists the arpeggiated synth line with reverb and early reflections, and adds an overall guerrilla feel to the sound.

Next up is "Remix B", also by Oscar. This is a less aggressive version, more for building a set. The elements appear slowly, with flanged synth lines as principal motif.
"Black Horse" starts with an ambient mood, till the industrial groove comes in and creates a mixture of meditation and aggression that grows and grows to utter madness. "Unknown territories" contains part of the mood felt in "Rite", although this time the sequence is more FM bell-like and the drums are less aggressive, mental and deep

Next up on Francis Harris's newly-founded record label Kingdoms comes something very special from Brooklyn-based film composer, songwriter, producer and performer Léah Lazonick. Movimenti della Luna D'Oro ('Movements of the Moon of Gold' translated from Italian) is a four-track EP from one of the most exciting musicians and performers around - a beautiful quartet of contemporary classical music with a twist. Lazonick is something of a polymath, having composed and conducted orchestral and electronic scores for short films and commercials as well as being a classically-trained pianist. Lazonick is also a connoisseur of analog synths and vintage drum machines, and will release a second EP focussing on these passions during the course of 2018. Here we are treated to three luscious works for piano and string quartet, written for a one-off performance at Studio OFF Interarts, an art gallery in Montreal. The piece was performed in a forest-like immersive environment, and was originally called In a Forest (A Piece in Three Movements). Lazonick performed the piano parts along with a string quartet she had assembled for the performance/recording. Lazonick explains: 'As opposed to most of the other songs/compositions I have written, I have no concrete sentimental story behind writing this piece. The motivation, inspiration and overall idea behind composing it was of a more technical nature; attempting to relay the music in my head at its purest form, without any compromises, by primarily making use of melodic and harmonic dissonances whilst still keeping the content captivating, musical and continuous.

Stimming x Lambert have done an album together: EXODUS!
This duo debut will be released on the new Berlin based Kryptox label on 9th march 2018.
Kryptox is the new label for Neo -Jazz/Kraut/Classical music my by Gomma and Toy Tonics founder Mathias Munk Modica.

Stimming is one of the main names in German advanced Techno. He first appeared to the public with cooperations with David August and Solomun on Diynamic records. Later he did orchestral Techno works and is by now one of the leading names in his genre..

'Tracking Happiness' is a lush piece of esoteric Techno that spans over six minutes and showcases Von Grall's artful approach to contemporary eletronics.

'Case History' is a percussion laden cut that delicately changes further on with slabs of FX while maintaining it's mystic atmosphere. 'State of Being Violin' is a state of the art piece of techno music completed by deep percussion and moments of wild FX. 'Self Portraits' serves as the closing track.

This cut showcases taints of experimental electronics and dystopian techno. A bonus track called 'Better Places' is included in the digital release.

For the fifth EP on VL Recordings, Hector presents Romanian DJ/ Producer, Mahony.

Mahony is best known for being at the helm of the Romanian techno scene as the chief booker for Sunwaves Festival, and Kristal Club where he had his first brush with the electronic music scene as a young and aspiring DJ producer.

It all started for Mahony as a resident of Kudos Beach Club in Mamaia the home of Romania's most beloved underground festival, Sunwaves. With a season full of great gigs behind him, word spread over to Kristal Club and they soon snapped him up as a resident and he finally got to share the decks with the great artists he admired in the club when he cut his teeth on the party scene

Fast-forward to 2016 and Mahony is not only is he continuing to put Kristal Club and Sunwaves on the map, he is touring worldwide with Hector and his Vatos Locos crew playing for events at BPM, Sonar, and Club Der Visionaere Berlin, as well as gigs in New York, Montreal, Argentina, Dubai and Paris.

For his contribution to VL Recordings, Mahony serves up three tracks that pay homage to his Romanian roots. On the remix duties he has called on two masters of their craft, Livio & Roby and Guti who both make their VL Recordings debut.

sychosis-inducing’ club tracks from Moscow. Ushi333 shares Green EP on PG TUNE, label by Philipp Gorbachev. The 4 track vinyl version of the EP is balanced with both functions: a fresh idea for DJ peak time moments and laid back Detroit influenced soundscapes. The digital version of the EP has three more tripped-out tracks: Space Mania, Tribal 1and Ophiuchus. Ushi333 is a Moscow based low-profile producer and this material was recorded live with hardware machines in the years 2018 – 2019.

Komenco is the first EP of the new parisian minimal vinyl only label nifo records. This EP is composed of 4 tracks produced by french artists, each track got his style which allows Komenco to be a complete EP where you can play the 4 tracks in the same set.

The second in a series of EPs by Mark Van Hoen's Locust project. Continuing in the vein of Mark's signature interpretation of techno, GREEN also has a few other surprises in store for us including an only slightly glossier vibe this time around without compromising the heavy-hitting dance floor anthems. Special mention of the final track "Arch Enemy" which immediately reminds us of why we are enamored with the work of Locust in the first place.
