The Honey EP takes a short trip into the world of two ultraspecial producers. Benjamin Brunn and Move D cut these three pieces from their ultradeep live jams and the result is magical. And Golden Pudel Chief Ralf Köster is amazed about his new ambient number one 'After the rain". In the end Move D and Benjamin Brunn put together what belongs together looking forward to their big album in 2008.

Herbert: Monaberry's totem old timer, Super Flu's dear old Opa, house music's favourite septuagenarian and all round legend returns...

It's been a while since he last curated a Monaberry collection (his hearing aid kaput throughout 2015)The last time being summer 2014 with Monaberry's now-vintage '25 Years Monaberry' collection. But now he's dusted off his curating cap, gently leant his walking stick against the wall, shouted what' a lot of times, moaned about his clicky knees, yearned for the good old days and, finally, put together one of the Halle-based label's most beautiful collections to date.

Fresh out of the care home, Herb's first pick - Super Flu & Viktor Talking Machine's 'Plastik' - leads with the gusto of a man a third of his age: a twinkling arpeggio gazes up to clear night skies building in momentum with the beats and a pulsating bassline. Laced with a dramatic breakdown, you'd be advised to stash this one for the next festival marathon.

The melodic tech textures continue as Herb welcomes Boston's Robot Love to the Monaberry fold with the touching slice of anthemia that is 'Numbers Station'. A clipped hook gently persists with chiselled insistency. Timeless and driving, Herb tells us he picked it because it's great to walk around the supermarket really really slowly to. We love it because it will take your dancefloor to a whole new level.

Last spotted on '25 Years Monaberry', fellow Halle hero Martin Waslewski returns with a wistful piano-primed stroller that sees Herb striding gently but confidently towards a destination unknown (probably the chemist to get his meds). No walking stick required.

Monaberry mainstays Hanne & Lore take old Herb (or Herbie to those in the know) out to the choppy tech seas late at night, sharpen up their finest synth hook and reel in a big one. Like all fresh produce, 'Tuna In' is crisp to the taste and will satiate the hungriest of dancefloors.

Having previously remixed Super Flu, Dortmunder Philhamoniker and Philipp Armbruster's 'Volkwein', Bebetta returns to Monaberry with her label debut, an ageless groove powered by soft chord changes, mild jazz textures and faraway crackles, it's Herbert's favourite for fireside chats.

Finally, Parra For Cuva brings us to a touching finale. Just in time for Herb's afternoon nap, 'Borneo' is awash with dreamy lilts, lingering instrumentation and positive chords. All brought together by shimmering guitar strums and cosmic ripples, listen closely and you can hear Herb smokebelching in sync with the splashing cymbals.

Respect your elders, respect the grooves, respect one another: 2016 is about to commence and Herbie's picked the winning soundtrack to break it in.

Premier Virage' is the first release of Virage Records. It begins with the
catchy bassline and warm drums of Pierre Moritz's Fewnolder'. Jean-Paul
Groove' from the duet ALVA features multiple synth lines and drum patterns.
Paris Groove boys carry on with Portalis' and its garage vibe. Yes I Do' from
madcat closes the EP with a blend of deep house and garage.

best tracks on vinyl ! Part 2

When LA label Acid Test decided to start the leftfield imprint, Avenue 66, they looked to New Jersey house mystic Joey Anderson for an opening salvo. He delivered the modern psych-dance masterpiece Above The Cherry Moon.' Now Anderson's back again with more of his beguiling dreamlogic. On If One Cares, They Act Different' Anderson works with a lead that could score an unsettling '80s horror flick, eventually introducing his signature quicksilver synths and abstract, jacking drum patterns. Peace There' starts with the square-wave basslines and raspy hats Taking us to a psychedelic far away place. On The Vase", Anderson reins things in, but even his bittersweet, relatively straight-head deep house tracks present an odd paradox. His music so alien and human all at once.

Cadans is not a stranger to Darko Esser's labels as he's seen a solo release on Balans in 2013 and most recently put out a collaborative EP with the label boss himself on the Tripeo imprint. Throughout all four productions Cadans' deep, bass-heavy background is able to shine through with his extensive use of clever percussions.

For the next installation of the Wolfskuil Records series, the Dutch producer Cadans delivers four energetic dance floor monsters. Cadans is not a stranger to Darko Esser's labels as he's seen a solo release on Balans in 2013 and most recently put out a collaborative EP with the label boss himself on the Tripeo imprint.

The EP opens with 'Hollow Funk', kicking off with an erratic drum pattern which slowly builds into frenetic raw claps and a very danceable bass kick which serves to be true balanced chaos. 'Got Woodblock' serves up a dose of suspense as a hollow pitter-patter echoes throughout.
On the flip side, 'Vocal Exercise' delivers a myriad of percussions which perfectly harmonize between a beautiful orchestral interval. The last track 'Papercuts' is conceived with his brother Kracht, and slows down the tempo while still maintaining the industrial flavor of is elements, together with deep vocals and lively hi-hats.

Throughout all four productions Cadans' deep, bass-heavy background is able to shine through with his extensive use of clever percussions.

The Far Out Monster Disco Orchestra is Far Out's in-house, Brazilian disco super group. It features the arrangements of Azymuth's late Maestro José Roberto Bertrami and the legendary Arthur Verocai amongst a host of other Brazilian musical icons. With a consistent stream of original modern disco sounds, the project has also played host to a series of remixes from some of dance music's greatest pioneers. FOMDO12 is the latest in this series, with fresh interpretations from Dego, Andres and Ben Hauke of the as yet unreleased 'Where Do We Go From Here'

Like 'Step Into My Life', which came out last year via two John Morales remixes, 'Where Do We Go From Here' is taken from the forthcoming second instalment of the Far Out Monster Disco Orchestra project. Check the first here:

A1 is Dego's 2000 Black remix. The broken beat innovator streamlines his sometimes more rugged sound, with the funk as priority. It's a sophisticated and irresistibly slick disco-house roller, reminiscent of his recent single for Neroli, 'Don't Stop (Let It Go)': with the same cross-genre appeal, a deep and deeply inviting groove, with Dego's signature swing.

A2 is a study in contrasts; Ben Hauke's take looks inward to find its feet, an intriguing riposte to Dego's open-arms welcome to the dancers. Organic rhythmic elements pile on top of each other, so loose and precariously balanced they seem to be perpetually on the verge of collapse. It's to Ben's credit that he pulls it off while showcasing a gifted ear for minor-key melody, with warm synths and piano notes taking his mix to another level. An essential slice of soulful, broken house, it effortlessly builds upon the tracks foundations, adding deeper, darker dimensions to the original's classy disco sound.

B1 is Andres' mix. It's got the touch of smooth Detroit class that we have come from to expect from him. Woozily silken keyboard chords work their way around an insistent bassline, the jazzy interplay perfectly offsetting the locked groove. The latter is a head-nodding house beat with a touch of boom-bap that belies Andres years of experience in the hip-hop world, most notably as Slum Village's resident DJ. Vibe-wise, it sits comfortably between Dego's sophisticated uptempo soul and Ben Hauke's downbeat late night groove. All three make for a stellar addition to The Far Out Monster Disco Orchestra remix roster, showcasing the many dimensions of their pioneering modern disco sound.

After releasing their debut full length Album on Kompakt last year, Hunter/Game return to Just This with another immersive offering.
On the ‚Dead Soul EP' the duo continue to refine their expressive yet subtly arranged sound. The title track unfolds slowly, sculpting the melody, texture and suspense. Joey Anderson's take on 'Dead Soul' is airy and atmospheric without losing it's pulsing flow. ‚Isolation' covers a broad spectrum and is filled with contrasts in which an intense bass interacts with a delicate and breathy melody.
Balance is key to Hunter/Game's music and this EP is no exception.

Matrixxman and Echologist team up for PRRUK's 2X12'' EP ''Black & White''. As the title suggests, this comes in a Black + White package showcasing sturdy Techno rhythms that have happened when these two stalwarts got into the studio together. Acidic tones, thumping bass drums and adventurous FX sweeps. From rhythm driven Techno cuts to the more oddball bits, ''The Black & White EP'' proves to be a versatile yet energetic package.

such a unique productions by the mysterious duo from italy, who've got the cult acquaintance on the last year by the re-edit of moodymann, and also the debut album from optimo trax compiled with middle east oriented-legend muslimgauze.
in some extents following up our expectation which we already have gained from their last features, as mashing up ethereal vocalization with

primitive unknown phrases and acidy drum strength - b side takes us further more by building up sounds indeed destined to the middle of nowhere - referring jaraï, the vietnamese ethnic minority and mapuche as aborigines in south america as its title.
exactly designed for you who have been bored with similar four-on-the floor stuffs in the club.

From the hot lands of Southern Italy a mysterious producer and old time friend of Bud Spencer joins us for our second release.
Swag barca.

Axe On Wax's brand new sub-label PNP follow up the huge PNP001 with this brand new 5 track EP, set for early October release. Already gaining early support from Folamour, DJ Aakmael, Deejay Astral, Seb Wildblood, Mixmag, Baltra, Demuja. Don't miss this.

Backyard Boogie present their first release from the new label coming out of Amsterdam. The release comes from the friendship of Charlie & Jody and what they created together coming from two different musical backgrounds, now with their music crossing paths. They used a variety of analog machines and field recordings to help create the music. The release also sees a collaboration with a local Amsterdam artist Ardjoen Mahangoe, who helped create the artwork for the release.

We welcome Mister Adrian back to Pole Group after his release on Warm Up not so long ago. 1975 is his new sonic adventure: three versions of the track plus a remix by Reeko; four cuts on the digital version and three on the black plastic slices.

The vinyl starts with Reeko's version of '1975'. Liquid textures, opaque drums, filtered sequences, subtle high hats and grey and thick drones. Add the constantly moving arrangement and the result is a timeless piece of scientific techno.

Side B starts with version B of '1975', with all the elements present from the very beginning, DX 200 one bar FM sequences, moving percussions and tense strings.

Closing the vinyl is version C of '1975'. It has less elements and brighter drums, although it maintains the one bar hypnotic sequences and adds an excellent real string sample that crosses the stereo, grows and changes during the whole arrangement. Futuristic techno with an old school feeling.

The digital bonus is version A of '1975'. Stomping beat, heavy subbass experience, crazy synth sequences, darkness and punch.

This is the Portuguese master's second round, after the success of his Blood EP on PoleGroup. This time Fautzi goes mental with three original tracks and an extra remix by Oscar Mulero.

"Unconsciousness" is an hypnotic piece of floating techno, based on heavy subsonic workout, high frequency drones, FM sequences and a steady arrangement. It is presented here in two different versions, both of them aimed directly to your mind.
Plus this two versions by the very artist, there is an Oscar Mulero remix cleaning the subbass spectrum, adding percussive elements and going in a different direction, more peak time oriented.

"Default" runs along similar parameters; breathing ambiences, slow-paced rhythms, cyclical synths and sharp percussions that preserve the mental state of its predecessor.

To close in style, Oscar Mulero gives "Default" a twist by putting the drones away, going straight to the percussive madness and spicing it up with a few liquid components.

Mind-induced mixing tools for the smart heads out there.

Cocoon Recordings presents COR12146, the dignified follow-up 12 by Rico Puestel that we were waiting for so long. Cocoon head Sven Väth himself is dropping 'Caravel' for quite some time already and the godfather of German techno smashes floors around the globe with this hot and dirty bombshell. Take all of the rocking techno ingredients that you loved so much over the last decade and you get a melt down of Dustin Zahn, Industrial Strength Soundhack and many more milestones to name... however Puestel created a very unique own style out of all these influences and the result is simply outstanding. Sven played the acetate of this so often that we even had to cut a second one. Techno-trainspotter worldwide went mad for this one and were killing us with their requests and track-ID inquiries. The wait is over guys! 'Caravel' and 'Est' (on the flipside) are two cutting edge techno monsters that hold enough energy to power your car, your computer, your phone, your life...we cannot imagine what Rico will show us next ;)

new sublabel from feinwerk !!!! great tracks targeting minimal funk madness !!!

finally repressed

PLANGENT RECORDS is back with the first various artists compilation (PLANCOMP001) on the label and gathers long time friends, likeminded musicians and new talent on this 10 track release. This platform for deep, low-key, melancholic electronic music shall continue.

Presenting the latest release from Inmotion Music as the NYC based imprint welcomes fellow city dwelling deviant ELON to the helm. Representing the long lineage of quality underground artists to come out of the city, ELON offers some deep and straight up techno that comes straight from the heart and aims solely for the feet...

ELON is certainly no stranger to the dance-floor, as his previous releases on Metroline, Made to Play and his own ReSolute label whole heartedly prove. Thick sonic attributes, mining basslines and hypnotic drums characterise the essence of this industrial leaning EP - a perfect fit, then, for this fresh label.

The EP kicks off with the almighty thud of Azone, which comes equipped with two strong remixes from already anointed label affiliate Marco Faraone and the much saught after skills of Marco Zenker. The original version's mix of heavy instruments and deep aesthetics makes it a stand out track of the moment, evoking memories of Octave One's groove and rhythm, not to mention it's raw, untreated analogue feel. Lots of oscillating basslines and perky percussive elements, all of which are stripped back on Faraone's interpretation, stripping apart the major chord buzz into a hollow, lurking track that builds at a menacing pace before unleashing full acid stabs and blasts.

Munich's Marco Zenker brings a bleaker tapestry, with the first minute of the track building in atmosphere and melody.., before bringing the beats through a hazy veil of shrouded mystery and muted mastering.

The EP is then bolstered by two more original ELON productions, both showing the Brooklyn based DJ's production prowess in abundance, Ten - with it's jittery rhythm, electro boogie overtones and acidic hypnotic rhythm - stands as warehouse techno at it's finest, most futuristic style.

Eliptic is Nothing but...' passion. The first release of Bucharest's based label, comes with two great pieces. On A side, Julian's track is pure madness, with a groovy bass-line, subtle percussion and crazy effects, just perfect for a good dance. On side B, Fengda's track is a trip from the beginning to the end, with a mysterious atmosphere, growing an intense journey for a taste of freedom. Two different musical perspectives that completes each other in a 12' vinyl, that you can't miss. Early supported by Rhadoo and Raresh.

This is electronic programme music; bookended in distinctive Tadeo style with a modal string section that places the record firmly in the avant-garde, The Pit guides us through the moods and associations of a classic science fiction narrative.Tadeo first released on Token in 2015 with the instant classic Terra Incognita, reminiscent of the kind of techno-futurism usually employed by some of the Detroit greats. If Terra Incognita was an interpretation of outer space, The Pit comes from deep in the ground. This is electronic programme music; bookended in distinctive Tadeo style with a modal string section that places the record firmly in the avant-garde, The Pit guides us through the moods and associations of a classic science fiction narrative.
The record is consistent in its instrumental palette, with a subdued but powerful low-end to set the pace, disorienting semitone meanderings and organic percussion in the mid, and massive, crashing hats that lift statement sections beyond comprehension.
