Queeste emerges with the nocturnal sounds of Haron's Wandelaar, an album exploring his long-term interest in music's talent for inducing and affecting dreams, successfully turning listening into an act of transport, leaving you in the midst of falling asleep, at a junction of dislocation, hazily arriving in a liminal world. In Wandelaar we hear Haron's playful reaction against the confines of dance music, gathering energy from his estrangement from the scene and using it as a means to reorder and interrogate sound. The modest piano takes centre stage, allowing each solo note to becoming fertile and full, suspended and considered, guided by the principles of minimal composers such as John Cage and Ryuichi Sakamoto. Haron delicately translates sparse chords into a cinematic narrative of ascension, conjuring up a 'moony landscape,' grey and desolate from afar, intricately detailed on approach. Haron's Wandelaar is available 6 July 2018 on LP. The vinyl release includes an art print by Fallon Does, who is also responsible for the graphic design of Wandelaar. All tracks written and produced by Haron Aumaj, mastered by Wouter for Brandenburg Mastering. Words by Jo Kali.
Early support by Ben UFO, Call Super, Beatrice Dillon, Kara-Lis Coverdale, Matt Werth (RVNG), Blowing Up The Workshop, Oceanic, Khotin.

* The production duo behind the rave-new world sounds of 'Turbo Mitzi' and 'Big Slug (Feat. Riko Dan)' have been busy in the studio recently and return to form with 2 killer cuts designed to shock out the dancefloor.
* 'Control' picks up the tempo from the duos previous cuts, rolling at 140 beats per minute, in it's apocalyptic form. Powerful pads create the tension before sub-heavy kicks and cybernetic snares come pounding and chopping in, building up the mood before a radioactively charged Reese-bassline emerges, rising to the surface, unleashing its terror. This is a stone-cold banger.
* 'Strobe Light' returns to the more familiar 128bpm tempo that the pair have previously worked with. Taking a quite unique approach, 'Strobe Light' builds evermore, moving into the light, layering percussion up as an intoxicating drone of swirling strings swells and swells - entrancing and empowering in equal measures. this is a highly versatile DJ tool that also makes for an engrossing listen from start to finish. Refined dancefloor ear candy.
The Scar Journey Continues With The 'born Again Ep', A 3-tracker Synonymous With The Duo's Much-loved Sound Accompanied By A Digital Bonus Featuring The Incredible Martyna Baker.

Synkro AKA Joe McBride teams up with veteran Arovane AKA Uwe Zahn for a sublime collaborative EP on Apollo. ' Refractive (Index)' sees the duo exploring their shared love of broken beats and dreamy soundscapes. The pair are also connected through their affection for Yamaha's venerable handheld sequencer, the QY700 (also a favourite of dutch lo-fi house master Legowelt) Arovane a long time stalwart of the acclaimed City Centre Offices imprint explains: "Everything started with a detail in an interview with Joe that grabbed my attention. I spotted a QY700 sequencer from yamaha on one photo. I used this piece of gear for decades to sequence all of my hardware and to produce my music. It's part of my trademark sound of rhythm programming."One of the factors that makes the QY700 beloved is it's ability to change parameters in realtime to shuffle, shift, expand or compress the timing of each pattern independently. It's touch can be felt throughout the oscillating rhythmic figures that wend through the gauzy pads and drifting melodies."We share the same wavelength when it come to breakbeats, musical taste and melodies,' Arovane continues 'This EP is the beginning of something special!"

As naturally as X-Altera came to be, the music itself is a unique refraction of styles and bold, contradictory approaches. But it all blends together uncannily well—maybe because of the decades of production experience that went into it, or the holistic mindset Mullinix took from the beginning. The name itself reflects as much. "X-Altera references two things. It comes from Latin—ex altera—which means 'from or of the other side.' Which could be a metaphysical thing, or you could say it's jungle ethics brought into the techno world. And I spelled it this way as a reference to X-101 and X-102, the Underground Resistance project of Je- Mills, Mike Banks, and Robert Hood." Detroit meets London, deep techno meets drum & bass, old meets new—X-Altera unites these threads in order to take them in unknown directions.A fresh debut from one of the most vital electronic producers of the last 20 years, Tadd Mullinix (Dabrye, JTC, Charles Manier), who looks to the past of techno and jungle to find a new ways forward.

After their psychedelic tour to Alice's Wonderland on their adventurous second album, CRuNCH 22, the Tel Aviv based Rhodes, turntables & drums power-trio, is back with "LUSH FLUSH", a fiercer than ever EP of raw, in-your-face grooves.
Opening track "Cairo" places a persistent Egyptian orchestra sample on top of a Led Zepplin-styled heavy beat; "Osaka" sounds like an early 2000s indie-pop with vocals sampled from a japanese folk song; "Baba" fuses Middle Eastern leads with broken beats; "Minderbinder" is a quirky afrobeat and "Young & Happy" is an odd metered pseudo-house track. While this list might seem as eclectic as you can get, the band's unique instrumentation and live playing style manages to make it sound completely coherent.
On the flip side of this 12" vinyl are three remixes by some of Israel's finest producers: Markey Funk's space-rock version of Cairo; Mule Driver's techno edit of Baba; and Obas Nenor's house remix of Young & Happy take these tunes deep into the dancefloor, making the "LUSH FLUSH" EP an important tool in any DJ's arsenal.
Flunk's debut album 'For Sleepyheads Only' from 2002 is still one of their greatest success. Spearheaded by a critically acclaimed downbeat version of New Order's 'Blue Monday', the album has received well deserved recognition around the world. Both 'Blue Monday' and other tracks was featured on a more than 20 compilations around the globe, and the album was out on license in US, Greece and Russia. Flunk is still going strong, their sixth album 'Chemistry And Math' was released last autumn. The original LP version was a slightly shortened single LP version, omitting two tracks. This vinyl LP has been out of print for a long time. For this reprint, the full album is now finally out on vinyl, spanning the first 3 sides of a double LP set. The fourth side adds three bonus tracks.

Naschkatze duo was founded in late 2015 by two visual artists and musicians Farhad Farzali and Ali Hasanov. Naschkatze goes beyond strict genre and style definitions and boundaries; the producers/composers duo constantly works on expanding and developing their sound resources through research of the musical heritage of different cultures of the world, with a special source of inspiration definitely coming from the Caucasus.
'Dilber' is sourced from the samples of two songs - "Dilber" from the "Lak Songs" (*The Laks is an ethnic group native to an inland region in Dagestan, North Caucasus in Russian Federation) for baritone and chamber orchestra by Shirvani Chalaev with voice solo performed by the author, as well as the song Beautiful leaves fall by Thomas Korganov, performed by the Children's Big Choir of the All-Union Radio and Central Television of the USSR.
Several notable names of the contemporary electronic music scene - Ulrich Schnauss (UK), Johan Troch (BE), Nico Niquo (AU), Katya Yonder (RU), Dmitry Evgrafov (RU) - were invited to support the EP with series of remixes on its key track.

3 in the PERIKLAS series comes from NICOLAS WIESE, a Berlin based electronic and audio-visual artist. "Unrelated" is available as handnumbered lim.ed. clear vinyl LP in silk-screened sleeve and download.
Born 1976, NICOLAS WIESE studied design, illustration sound art, philosophy and sociology and has since been working on various fields: his (audio-)visual art has been presented in galleries and at exhibitions in Teheran, Gent, London, Vienna, St. Louis, Istanbul, Madrid a.o. As musician / composer, he released a number of solo and collaborative albums under the [-Hyph-] moniker and his civilian name on labels like WALTER ULBRICHT SCHALLFOLIEN or CORVO RECORDS. WIESE's latest effort "Unrelated" contains seven new pieces, constructed from sonic elements of various compositions, audiovisual works, fragments, remixes and experiments from a time span of 6 years, drawn from different contexts and a wide range of international musicians and collaborators. WIESE's trademark working method is to combine complex sample-based layers with modulated feedback which is triggered by the samples, their overtones and harmonic properties. This playing technique, using the mixing board as a feedback-instrument, adds a special live feel to the meticulous musique concrète constructions based on the original acoustic source material.
Rich in details, "Unrelated" is a vital proof of WIESE's artistic skills and a highly entertaining concern, melting electro-acoustic, musique concrète and sampledelia!

To celebrate the 10th vinyl release on Lossless Music, Soul Intent delivers 4 cuts on dark and moody drum and bass as only he can. The title track 'The Tide' sees Soul Intent collaborate with label regular and dark vibe master Paragon. 'Cypher' hails the first production outing from Ben Repertoire (from the Repertoire label) who happens to also be Lossless graphic designer and fellow lover of Co-Op Pickle Pork Pies.
Also on the B-side is a solo effort from Soul Intent called 'Lose Yourself' which demonstrates yet more of his love of that classic Headz sound, turning heads whenever it's played. Lastly, as a digital exclusive Soul Intent raided the archives and unearthed a rugged roller called 'Helpless' which along with 'Cypher' has received Radio 1 airplay from Rene LaVice.

L_cio DOC Records welcomes L_cio for a beautiful full-length album entitled 'Poema'.
L_cio is a Brazilian artist who brings his own flute playing to his music. He has previously collaborated with the likes of Portable on the huge hit 'Surrender' and is a live act who has held residencies at plenty of key clubs in Brazil. He's also toured all over the world from Egg London to Robert Johnson in Frankfurt and released on labels like Perlon, Soul Clap Records and D.Edge. His eight-track album is an emotive affair with deep house grooves embellished with his own spine tingling instrumentals and flute.
'Paqe' kicks things off with five minutes of springtime sounds and fluttering flutes that carry you off into clear blue skies. 'Canto' is more driving, with crisp drums and synth stabs all getting you into a groove. 'Forte' then drops into techno mood with powerful kicks and busy snares then 'Complet' re-sets with two minutes of blissful flute lead ambience that is utterly calming.
'Poema' is another beautiful interlude with floating synths and shimmering synths and 'Avante' brings back house drums with dramatic synths and icy hi hats. 'Canto2' again blesses you out with more exquisite flutes and some melancholic organ work and closer 'Lagoa' is a dreamy track with animal sounds, flutes and languid chords all encouraging you to get horizontal. .
Continuously growing serious followers, L_cio live performances and recent releases on DOC Records ('Chico Buarque Construção Revisited'; 'Vazio'; 'Traffic'; 'People Talk'; 'Schwantes'), will definitely secure a major place in the realm of electronic music.
Beautifully crafted in collaboration of DOC Records label boss Gui Boratto, 'Poema' is a truly unique album that showcases L_cio's truly uniquess and magical sound.

* Arikon is a solo project of Berlin-based drummer & producer, Arik Hayut - half of doom-tech duo Gainstage with Pierce Warnecke. Loyal to the sonic concepts of Gainstage, Arikon presents The Prophet's Blood Is Boiling, a solo enterprise into deepest 'drum & drone'. Hypnotizing distorted polyrhythms puncture through shards of fragmented melodies, producing potent mixtures of desperate tin can banging, a panoramic sonic scope, and the bleakest of soundsystem nightmares. Across the album, Arikon deploys an arsenal of samples plus electronic, acoustic, and self-constructed percussion instruments, constructing eight powerful productions that manage to embody both brute force and delicate decay.
* Formerly active in Tel Aviv's leftfield experimental scene during the 90's, Hayut made Berlin his permanent home for working on his own projects while composing and performing music for off-theater and contemporary dance. In 2004, a severe health crisis initially threw Hayut into crisis, slowing down his activity to a standstill. However, the precarious process of his fortunate recovery contributed to Hayut involving himself more deeply with concepts of time, death, and decay.
* Inspired by the decadent still life paintings of the Flemish Baroque, the cover artwork for The Prophet's Blood Is Boiling comprises a bowl of decomposing fruit. Like the music, its aim is to illustrate the beauty and perfection of the decay process, whilst also referring to the West's hyper-capitalistic, technology-centric culture. In recent years a new form of 'digital life' has been born, whereby all data - regardless of its worth or importance - is mummified, reproduced, and distributed with no real disintegration or loss in quality. This new digital life is resulting in a sort of 'frozen death', ending the hitherto natural cycle of life.
* The songs on themselves are inspired by the 'beasts of holiness' - mythological monsters that appear in the Hebrew bible and the Jewish apocrypha (non-canonical scriptures). There's the punching of bassy thuds out of an oceanic ambient swell throughout 'Tanin Gadol', named after the ancient water monster of Babylonian times. The dense net of fumbling scrapes and amp-busting hits of noise on 'Nahash Akalaton' similarly refer to a titular sea-snake monster, its tendrils lashing out of the speakers aggressively. These demons symbolize a force of evil equal in power, yet in direct opposition to the monotheistic deity of their time. They were therefore neither acknowledged nor canonized in much dominant scripture. Arikon invokes these demons across The Prophet's Blood Is Boiling, setting them loose across these gnarled noisy chambers of pummeling percussion and cracked sampled detritus.

The reggae city of Leeds gets a celebration on the new serious stepping release from Scotch Bonnet Records. The Yorkshire capital's production partnership Danny T and Tradesman, who released debut LP Built For Sound on Scotch Bonnet last year, pair with legendary soundman Mark Iration for a rare vocal outing that shows his hidden talents. Over the thumping kick-drum and room-shaking bass you'd expect from Mark's sound Iration Steppas, Up Deh is a reality tune about the dangers of life and rewards of music in the ghetto. Across two different flipside dub mixes, Danny T and Tradesman create industrial-strength soundscapes that translate the message into pure unspoken vibes.

Digital & Spirit return to Phantom Audio once more with one of their most heavyweight selections of recent times. Two bonafide classics in their own right, Digital's 'Deadline' and Spirit's 'Redial', have come together to once more wreak havoc on dance floors worldwide in the shape of 'Deaddial'. Next we have the cavernous subs and ethereal pads of 'Revolution' which both agree is one of their favourite works. 'Phantom 2018' reworks the timeless classic 'Phantom Force' into a new blend of dance floor destruction as those thumping tones and crashing beats are once again sparked into life for a quirkier yet equally devastating interpretation. Finally, what would 2018 be without a mammoth dub-tinged amen workout from the duo, unlike no other in 'Small World'.

Following on from the release of FBA21 Collected Works 1996 -2017, which was released November 2017 Matthew Puffett decided to wrap up the project, with a handpicked selection of artists to remix key tracks from the compilation. Amongst these figures are some significant influences on Puffett`s early years The set includes Kirk Degiorgio, whose reworking of 'Cross Dissolve' reimagines the track in full machine mode, serving up a slab of driving techno for the main room. A fan since the early 90s, Kirk and Matt have been in contact over the years, culminating to this powerful re-creation. Steven Rutter (B12) has also reworked 'Cross Dissolve', but in contrast to Degiorgio, Rutter's mix brings out an almost abstracted, ambient mood, a characteristically expressive and textured piece from one of the leading figures in UK electronica. Hardway Bros, Sean Johnston (Andy Weatherall's partner in 'A Love From Outer Space) tackles 'Mourning', a piece of melancholic euphoria. In typical Johnston style, Sean slows it all down, bringing it to a mid-tempo Balearic vibe. A big influence on Matthew in the 1990s, Lee Grainge used to work at the infamous Fat Cat records. A renowned arbiter of sounds, Grainge turned Matt onto countless records from Detroit and beyond, which was crucial in shaping FBA's sound. Here, he remixes 'Diagram', in a manner reminiscent of classic dub techno, Basic Channel. Another influence on FBA's sound is former Eevo Lute Muzique boss from Eindhoven, Stefan Robbers. FBA recorded a mini album for EevoNext in 2009, and the pair team up again here to reinvent 'Machines Can Help'.
Out-ER sub-label Pregnant Void is proud to announce the release of hi.mo's debut album Urtiis. Landing on double vinyl in June 2018, it is a fantastically absorbing showcase of the Italian's weird and wonderful fusion of various strains of sound from jazz to hip hop to classical. "The alteration of conventional musical patterns thrills me," says the artist who is classically trained in piano and uses that knowledge to play with rules, structures and forms. Influenced by IDM, African drums, jazz and the interplay of chords, rhythm and harmony, hi.mo infuses his electro-acoustic productions with found sound samples and analogue and digital tools. This is a spelling-binding and intimate album that is filled with invention, but never at the expense of the overall experience, which is beautiful and beguiling throughout.
As The Title Suggests, Joakim Recorded This New Album Last Year At Studio Venezia, The Installation/sculptural Ensemble/recording Studio Created By Xavier Veilhan For The Prestigious 2017 Venice Art Biennale. Built Inside The French Pavilion & Inspired By The Grotto-like Merzbau By Kurt Schwitters, Studio Venezia Had Dozens Of Artists Create And Record There Over The 6 Months Of The Biennale (from Chassol To Brian Eno, From Joakim To Sebastien Tellier), Invited By Xavier Veilhan Himself With The Help Of Co-curator Christian Marclay.
With An Impressive Collection Of Rare Instruments From Medieval Horns To Rare Modular Synths (baschet Crystals And Percussions, A Buchla, A Clavinet...), Studio Venezia Was An Amazing Creative Playground For The Adventurous Musician. Those Instruments Were Captured By A Team Of Sound Engineers In The Best Possible Way Thanks To Nigel Godrich's (beck, Radiohead...) Mobile Studio Loaded With State Of The Art Vintage Recording Gear.
Before Going There In May 2017, Joakim Examined The Instrument List And The Specific Context Of A Studio Open To The Public Within An International Contemporary Art Exhibition To Anticipate His Creative Process. Instead Of Drafting Compositions And Demos Ahead Of The Recording Session, He Decided To Have An in-situ' Approach By Creating A System Involving The Visitors Of The Studio In The Composition Phase. Joakim Asked Random Visitors Of The Pavilion To Pick A Word, A Letter (between A And G), Tap A Tempo And Sometimes Choose The Instruments That He Would Play For Each Piece. The Word Was Translated Into A Chord Using A Transcription Table Joakim Invented. Hence The Song Titles Made Of The Given Word Plus The Name And Origin Of The Contributor. The Music Was Then Mostly Improvised, Based On Those Chords, Scales And Tempi. The Recordings Were Then Taken Back To New York Where Joakim Made Some Light Editing And Mixed The Pieces.
In Terms Of Influences, Joakim Tried To Channel The Spirit Of Proto-ambient German Heroes Cluster, 60s And 70s Modal Jazz, Japanese Evocative Minimalism And Drone Composers' Hypnotic Transcendence.
One Can Hear The Studio Through These Recordings, Which Was The Point, To Use The Studio As An Instrument, Like The Kraut Rock Pioneers Did. You May Hear The Floor Cracking, People Talking Or Coughing, And The Peculiar Quality Of Music Recorded In A Large Space With Its Acoustic Properties, A Rare Occurrence When Everyone Is Now Working From Small Home Studios And Major Large Studios Are Closing Down. This Album Also Marks A Return For Joakim To His Musical Education As A Classically Trained Pianist As You Can Hear Him Improvise On The Piano ( arms', air', dream'), Fender Rhodes ( trust') Or Harpsichord ( absense').
Following The Release Of The Studio Venezia Sessions, Joakim Will Create A Live Performance Based On His Experience In Venice. The Premiere Of This New Solo Performance Is Commissioned By The Villa Medicis In Rome For Their Villa Aperta Festival Early June. More Shows Will Follow.

After years of drilling their message home thru belligerent repetition, the crucial London duo here go fractiously febrile, ephemeral and non-linear, probing a certain sort of feminine pressure across four tracks drawing as much from grime, post-punk and jungle as afrobeats R&B and dembow rhythms, and cannily splashed with samples lifted from the kind of Fail' videos that hog YouTube's recommendations sidebar.
Taken in context of the black humour and 'ardcore hauntological spirit which binds all their work, the results form a radical rethink of the Raime sound allowing for more chaos, space and knife-
edge vulnerability within their often chokingly tight productions. Where their previous grooves may have felt like tunnelling into a dank rave at London's core, their current sound better reflects
the shifting mosaic of the city's cultural, socio-economic and political landscape, effectively rendering a brutalist 3D gymnasium or in-progress construction site for their wickedly
augmented ideas to cut loose, and quite literally embracing the failure, fleeting emotions and nerve-riding uncertainty that comes with the terrain.
In opener Some Things Can Happen, Just Like This they persistently switch the pattern from vaporous dembow bumps to synthetic chorales in a sort of mutant 8-bar dramaturgy, while Real
People, Not Actors observes an everyday fine line between aggression and play with ravishing yet elusive 2-step design comparable to Total Freedom clashing Burial over post-codes or a broken fidget spinner. The palpitating, rapid flux of Our Valleys Are Always Uncanny is more agitated and wild-eyed than anything else in their catalogue, perhaps imagining Skepta's Stageshow Rhythm after the cast has left and the duppies come out to play, before The Nourishment Cycle wraps up razor-chopped samples and melodic percussion in a way that feels like witnessing a bleeding cross-section of the city come to life, all sinew and sawn-off syllables tessellating in suspenseful animation.
It's thrilling, edge-of-seat music, and a breath of fresh air that's certain to flip presumptions of Raime on their head and offer their followers something to really get their mental teeth into.

Swinging Flavors is BACK! After releasing material from names such as Simon Off aka Sun People, Moresounds, DJ Madd, Ticklish, Sully, Addison Groove, Itoa and Lynch Kingsley our 7' vinyl series devoted to Bass Culture and dancefloor vibes is back again with the the Sixth One aka BMRSF006. After having a Japan vs USA Chicago Footwork sound clash with DJ Fulltono and DJ Earl's 'Tribal Dancer', now it's time for an atlantic connection - in the name of Bass Music obviously.
On the A Side you'll find Sinistarr's '55555': the Detroit bass producer - with a 10yrs experience in sound design and recently appeared with an astonishing work on legendary dBridge label Exit Records - gives us a pure example of his sonic craziness with a minimal-but-high-impact work, with chopped vocal samples, magic flutes and heavy basses. On the B Side '55555' gets a full treatment by Philip D. Kick: Cosmic Bridge honcho Jim Coles - well known in the worldwide bass scene as Om Unit - surprisingly comes back with his iconic footwork moniker giving to the original vibes a more accentuate rave touch, with hyper speed drum patterns, amen breaks and piano notes.

First time reissue on any format of the 1994 album by Spectrum. Spectrum is the project of Sonic Boom (ex-Spacemen 3 as well as Experimental Audio Research) and collaborators.
Technically his 3rd album but the 2nd under the name Spectrum. Carrying on the signature sound exemplified on Soul Kiss (Glide Divine)', Highs, Lows, And Heavenly Blows' lulls the listener into a deep trance with it's droning and hypnotic tracks and treated vocals on top of a myriad of analog synths and Sonic's recognizable guitar treatments. The first track Undo the Taboo' sets the stage for a meditative ride that doesn't let up until the last track.
Absolutely crucial and long awaited reissue.

Mono No Aware is the first compilation to be released on PAN, collating unreleased
ambient tracks from both new and existing PAN artists.
Featuring Jeff Witscher, Helm, TCF, Yves Tumor, M.E.S.H., Pan Daijing, HVAD, Kareem Lotfy,
ADR, Mya Gomez, Sky H1, James K, Oli XL, Bill Kouligas, Flora Yin-Wong, Malibu, and AYYA,
the compilation moves through more traditional notions of what is called 'ambient', to
incorporating wider variations that fall under the term.
'Mono No Aware', 'the pathos of things', also translates as 'an empathy toward things', or
'a sensitivity to ephemera'. A term for the awareness of impermanence, or the transience
of things. A meditation on mortality and life's transience, ephemerality heightens the
appreciation of beauty and sensitivity to their passing. In investigating the passing
of time, the boundaries between memory and hallucination become blurred; between
fiction and reality. The movement of time transforms into an eternal present..

Following the widely acclaimed 3LP collection, Electronic Music from the Seventies and Eighties, Unseen Worlds has compiled a second, 2LP collection of favorite and unreleased Carl Stone works. Electronic Music from the Eighties and Ninetiespresents the soothing, hallucinatory side of Stone's slow-evolving, time-bending composition. While we can't always identify the source, we can hear that his sounds come from somewhere, and that there is a correct' or complete' version of them in theory, and so we can hear when they are being changed. What drives Stone's music is the flow that he draws out of those differences: the way an Indonesian gamelan morphs into a chorus built from one female vocalist over the course of Mae Yao''s twenty-three minutes, the surprise emergence of a Mozart chorus out of the synths and skip-glitches of Sonali,' or the slow, ambient evolution of Banteay Srey'. Woo Lae Oak,' issued in a single side edit for the first time, is an exception. Its samples - a tremolo string and a bottle being blown across the top like a flute - are simple in the extreme. Yet the Stone hallmark is clearly present, he locates the inherent emotional properties of the sounds - the tingling anticipation of the string and the calm nobility of the wind - and takes them into unexpected expressive territory.
- Gatefold LP jacket
- New liner notes from Tim Rutherford Johnson, Robin Rimbaud, and Carl Stone
- First time vinyl collection for some of Carl Stone's most beloved tracks from the 1980s and 1990s, and the first ever release in any format of Mae Yao'

A past affiliate of Richie Hawtin's Minus label, Berlin-based expat Kevin McHugh (aka Ambivalent) joins the ranks at CPU under his more recent alter ego of LA-4A.
McHugh launched his own Delft imprint in 2013, which saw the birth of LA-4A, initially an anonymous production handle.
On Slackline, McHugh delivers 4 tracks of uncompromising techno: you'll find interwoven breaks and refined sampling, and as the track entitled Punishment clearly suggests, only the hardiest of techno fans will survive it's onslaught.

"it Sounded All Right Through Two Walls, So What's The Problem" The Final Words Of 'two Walls', The Fast And Very Catchy Leading Track Of Dj Marcelle's New Record, Sum Up An Aesthetic Almost Lost In Today's Musical Climate, Where Often A Pleasing Attitude And Overproduced Music Sadly Rule, Even In So-called 'alternative' Circles. The Quote Comes From The Late Mark E. Smith (1957 - 2018), Legendary Frontman Of The Fall, And Is Taken From Some Of The Conversations Marcelle Had With Smith Over The Years. Smith Is Referring To A Recording Process But For Marcelle His Words Stand For Something Bigger.Although The Fall Have Been With Marcelle During Her Whole Musical Life (which More Or Less Started In 1977 During The Punk Wars) And She Has A Deep Love For Their Music, It Was Especially Smith's Attitude That Inspired Marcelle.Smith Was An Iconoclast, A Surrealist Dadaist Breaker Of Conventions In Music And Art More Generally. A Magically Creative Individual, A Brain-twisting Wordsmith. An Attacker Of The Pretentious And Dishonest Elements In Society And Music Scenes. An Autodidact Whose Singular Vision, Fired By Both Humour And Sharp Observation, Found A Voice In A Body Of Work Unlike Anything Else. The Day After Marcelle Heard Of Smith's Passing She Created A New Track, Lauding Smith, Whose Name Was An Institution In Itself: Mark E. Smith! Therefore, The Repetitious Use Of A John Peel Sample Pronouncing Smith's Name Celebrates The Life Of This Totally Unique Artist. This Track Opens With Another Smith Quote: "you're Probably Right, Marcelle". And Indeed, The Dutch Producer / Dj Shares Many Of Smith's Attitudes In That She Tries To Stay True To Herself, Doesn't Think Too Much About Audience Expectations And Always Tries To Stay Ahead Of The Public. 'punky' Energy Combined With The Avant-garde And Always Going Forward With Fresh Productions And Dj Sets. To Make And Play Music Which Reflects The Present And Doesn't Rest In The Comfort Zone Of One Dimensional Party Music. There Are Five More Versions Of 'two Walls' On This Ep, But They Differ So Much From The Original That You Can Count Them As Different Tracks. 'dubai Muezzin Dub' Was Partly Recorded In The United Emirates When Marcelle Played There Earlier In 2018. 'problematic Dub' Is Pure Industrial Techno Torn Apart By The Wildest Dub Effects, Its Coming And Going Of Sounds Equals A Ride In A Calypso. 'studio Door Dub' Celebrates The Repetition Of The Fall And The 'emerson, Lake & Palmer Symphony Dub' Is Both Pure Avant-garde And Hilarious Fun. And Belp, Who Owns The Jahmoni Label, Comes With A Wicked Abstract Noise Remix. The 'for' Ep Is The Fourth (get It) Vinyl Release Of Marcelle On The Munich Label Jahmoni Since 2016. As Always, Sleeve And Label Are Very Colourful. Both Labels Show Special Photos: On One Side We See An Old Picture Of Smith Embracing Marcelle, The Other Side Depicts The Label Of A 1985 The Fall Test Pressing That Once Belonged To John Peel But Which Was Stolen Out Of His Car In Amsterdam. Later Marcelle Found The Record On A Flea Market, Recognising Peel's Handwriting. "when I'm Dead And Gone" Smith Sang In The 1979 Song 'psychik Dancehall', "my Vibrations Will Live On, In Vibes On Vinyl Through The Years. People Will Dance To My Waves."Now We Can Listen And Dance To A Vinyl 'for' The Incomparable Mes, Made With Total Commitment And Which - Like The Fall - Defies Comparison.

Elektroliza is a series of club events formed by a group of dedicated electronic music enthusiasts in 2006. It is hosted by Ljubljana's Channel Zero, a legendary club that is part of the autonomous social centre Metelkova which used to be the Slovenian headquarters of the Yugoslav National Army.Filling a void in Slovenia's electronic dance scene, the night was a hit from the start and quickly grew into a diverse and successful series focusing on new and exciting electro, acid and dark techno.Elektroliza hosted many memorable DJ and live acts by performers/producers/pioneers coming out of international music incubators in Gothenburg, The Hague, Berlin and as far as Detroit. Even more importantly, it brought together producers and crews from the former Yugoslav republics of Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Macedonia. Inside the former Yugoslavian military barracks DJs and producers from Skopje to Ljubljana began bonding again through music, forming new friendships, starting new collaborations and dancing the night away... in 'Electro City Ljubljana'.This first double vinyl compilation of the Balkan Elektroliza family is a collection of our shared memories and visions of the future to come.

First time on vinyl reissue (previously CD only) of Mark Van Hoen's 1998 masterpiece presented on a deluxe 2LP. Playing With Time perfectly showcases the lush and deep environments that can only arise from Van Hoen (Locust, Scala, Seefeel). Melody Maker called it "A Mesh Of Loveliness". The Sunday Telegraph described it as "The perfect, spacey chill-out album", and The Sunday Times had this to say: "A sound that at it's best has a positively spiritual quality about it". Other accolades include Sleazenation - "At the cutting Edge" Computer Music "A melange of jerky, cut-up sounds, stretched out ambience... that owes more to Far-Eastern music than to Steve Reich". And lastly, HiFi World felt "The sound scape is so deep and diverse that it's accessible to anybody into laidback beats and soothing, beautiful noise". Contains a side long bonus track best described as a modal Eno-style classical ambient piece that was originally intended as a 'hidden' track at the end of the original 1999 CD release.

Prins Póló now celebrates the vinyl release of his sophomore album Sorrí. Prins Póló is the solo venture of one Svavar Eysteinsson who made his first appearance on Reykjavík's stages in the early noughties playing with twee quirksters Rúnk, and quickly made a name for himself as a unique, fiercely independent and perennially DIY-minded artist. Throughout the decade, he further cemented his reputation through his work with indie rock outfit Skakkamange, before making a name for himself

DJ Fett Burger and Finish mastermind producer Stiletti Ana have been making their first album together, titled 358 MEN. After their first successful 12 Seriously Goodbye released on Sex Tags UFO four years ago, they continued the work in progress. And did a series of studio collaborations in Stilleti Ana's amazing Helsinki based Haista II studio, and it led to this double vinyl underground smash album. Containing nine atmospheric under the radar cuts, touching base in slow disco, electronic leftfield house, underground hip hop beats meets krautrock and dub, and some live sound experiments. A 100% style debut by the two producers. Original, leftfield, and with the live drummers groove and bliss synthesisers move to create the hypnothic swag. This will be DJ Fett Burger's debut album, and self released on his own and Jayda G's Frekout Cult label. Rumoured to be the last Freakout Cult release. So this will be the icing on the cake with everything under the tip of the ice berg included. Heavy weight in other words, for the top underground players! Artwork by DJ Fett Burger.

Hell Yeah’s summer will be all about Passages, a brand new and fantastic album from Quiroga that shows off his unique take on the Neapolitan sound. It is a soothing mix of real musicianship, laid back funk, soul and jazz stylings that wash over you, fill your heart with warmth and take you to a faraway beach where all your worries melt into the ether.
It is 11 years since Walter Del Vecchio’s last album on Cactus Island Recordings and since then he has put out a steady stream of sublime EPs on the likes of his own Really Swing as well as, of course, Hell Yeah. Label boss Marco calls him “a delicate musician” and it’s true that his deft sound is filled with beauty and detail.
A lot of attention is currently on his native Naples scene, but Quiroga doesn’t fit with the usual narrative thanks to his left of centre take on the breezy Mediterranean sounds of the city. This new album features six brand new cuts as well as six of his favourites that have previously been put out Really Swing, and is a fantastic showcase of his sound, with two of the tracks already getting big support from Italian ensemble 291out.
Gentle groove undulations and refrained vocal euphoria define opener Got Your Love, while fat bass twangs and nodding keys light up the jazzy-soul-funk fusion that is Martinica Feelings. Things get even more horizontal and romantic on The Zoist, with its steamy female coos and delicate keys, and North Hollywood Witches is a glorious bit of slow motion boogie with squelching bass and effervescing keys.
Elsewhere there are the lazy tumbles of Non Dire Notte, which is awash with acid gurgles, while glistening dreamscapes like Citto Di Mare shuffle on lush live drums and new age melodies. There are hippie vibes on Luzhin Defence which evokes sun beams breaking through the clouds, then Chiaia Sunset will melt your heart with its diffuse keys and rippling rhythms and ambient closer Bava casts you adrift into the clouds.
With many other gems along the way, this a perfect summer album that will temporarily rid you of whatever problems you may have.

* Bristol's Joker has announced he is to celebrate 10 years of his pioneering Kapsize label with a special series of new 12' Joker releases, the second of which will drop this May.
* Over the past decade, Kapsize has put out some of Joker's most defining work, including the iconic 'Purple City' (produced with Ginz) — a track widely recognised as ground zero for Joker's purple dubstep aesthetic — and 2015 album, 'The Mainframe', as well as early records from Asa & Sorrow and L-Wiz.
* To be released both on special edition orange vinyl and digitally, Joker's second commemorative release lands in the form of 'Boat / Deploy'. A-side 'Boat' is gleefully maximalist, a playful accordion running alongside searing synths before a ominous bassline drops, taking us through his vivid and embellished creative world, while the cinematic 'Deploy' is another intense and larger-than-life riddim.
* To be released in June following the release of 'Anamorphic / Forever' in April, and 'Marching Orders ft. Footsie / Polka Dot' in May'.

Blurring the lines between drum & bass and techno often tested by friend and occasional label-mate Pessimist, Overlook delivers four of his most atmospheric, genre-busting tracks on Osiris Music uk.
Opener 'Down The Rabbit Hole' leads with frantic tribal rhythms, before the eponymous second track slows the pace a little to lock the listener in a claustrophobic club full of slo-mo swaying bodies, distant vocal samples reverberating around even-more-distant hits.
On the B side, the pace continues to slow: 'Residual' drives forward with a sustained tension and breathy hints at something lurking in the shadows, before 'Crisis' eschews beats altogether to explore a more sombre mood: an ambient piece that feels like it's just been unearthed from a forgotten time.

We're coming up with something to break boundaries and strengthen the spirit of artistic freedom."The Fall" by the Belgian-born Berlin-based singer, songwriter and producer Cook Strummer - aka Maxime Donnet - is an evocative ode to lost love and forgotten spirituality.Channeling the post-punk synth sound of his home country's Cold Wave movement of the late '70s and early '80s, Donnet has absorbed the sounds of his adopted home in Germany, taking that all-pervasive electronic music that is all around him and morphing it into something new. The result is "The Fall".Recorded in a cell located in the basement of an old Stasi Prison (Studio K61 in Berlin), it's an album with one eye on the dancefloor, but one that works just as well when the party is over. It's an album that blends the organic with the synthetic, mixing guitars and synths with post-dubstep flourishes and drum machines. It's an album about something. The name of the album has been chosen in reference to first single Fallen, the idea of falling in life and waking up again. It's also about the fact that it's not the fall that kills you. A fall can be graceful. A fall can improve a life perspective and create new paths. It can and does make you strong. The main metaphor in there is one of reincarnation. Indeed, it's the story of a soul negotiating with God to not reincarnate on earth again, but being forced to do it anyways.Experience something different!Composed, written and produced by Maxime DonnetRecorded and Mixed by Mario Engelter at Studio K61 BerlinMastered by Sasse Lindblad at BlackHead Studios

Christina Vantzou and John Also Bennett's musical interpretation of Thoughts of a Dot as it Travels a Surface, a 90m panoramic wall drawing by Zin Taylor, is a beautiful electro-acoustic meditation on the passage of time. It was recorded live at Westfälischer Kunstverein in Münster, Germany,
May 6th, 2017, and now finds its way onto vinyl and digital formats via the supremely keen-eared Shelter Press.
Following their co-work on her No. 3 album, Christina Vantzou brings a wealth of experience working between auditory and visual mediums to John Also Bennett's synthesized and acoustic sound sensitivities, which have recently applied to his action in the Forma trio and a compilation of Pauline Anna Strom's amazing Trans-Millenia Music for RVNG Intl, with a purposefully slow and immersive flow of acoustic piano and flute wrapped up in remarkably plasmic, spatially detailed synth contours.
In 10 parts, thru a combination of literal track titles and abstracted allegorical inference, they describe the movement and feelings evinced by Zin Taylor's massive tableaux, variously transposing his imagery of Cactus with Vent into webs of crystalline harmonics that acquiesce to brownian motion, or, as with the transition of Alfred Hitchcock Haze to Rock House With Door, a vividly synaesthetic transcription of figurative drawing to brooding, doomily Lynchian sound that brings to mind a wealth of captivatingly dank and alien imagery.
The package includes a miniaturised print of Zin Taylor's Thoughts of a Dot as it Travels a Surface
to peruse while you listen, so that you, like Christina and Bennett, can also make your own interpretation, and see how far their sonic translation differs with your own. Or then again, you could ignore it entirely and let yourself drift inside their modestly subtle, free-formed dimensions without the cues. Either way, you're in for a beautiful, open-ended and unpredictable trip.

If ever a phonographic accomplishment could encapsulate the precise modus operandi of the Cacophonic label, then the Expériences Musicales sessions made by French born painter, sculptor, music maker, wine merchant and founder of the Art Brut movement Jean Dubuffet would be a prime candidate.
Originally released as an impossibly rare six record box set containing Dubuffet's first long anticipated forays into sound sculpture and spontaneous artistic noise, these intimate early 1960's recordings show a lesser- known side of this important artist's personality. From an original gallery promoted artefact (which can now command fees of up to 5000 Euros complete with its original art-prints intact) this highlighted version ofExpériences Musicales is now available again on authentic vinyl to the wider public.
Finally released to a wider audience and presented complete with Dubuffet's signature style artwork, this abridged vinyl edition includes specific selections curated by the artist himself, in conjunction with experimental music pioneer Ilhan Mimaroglu.

* The two label runners combine forces for the deeply old skool EP. Saiyan and Luna-C bring the simple joy of the old rave sound to their EP, with two tracks cut in the style of the early breakbeat scene of 1992, and one track that stems from a little later, when things got more 4x4 and slightly tougher. All the tracks on the EP are made with a majority of hardware rather than the standard software of today, and the result is a warm, analogue, and absolutely true to its era EP of rolling breaks, deep basslines and uplifting vibes!

Underworld And Iggy Pop Announce Details Of A 4 Track Ep, Teatime Dub Encounters, Due For
Release On July 27th Via Caroline International.
While Overseeing The Soundtrack For T2 Trainspotting, Underworld's Rick Smith Arranged A
Meeting With Iggy Pop In A Room At The Savoy Hotel On London's Strand To Discuss Working On
Collaborative Music For The Filmhe first track from Teatime Dub Encounters - Bells & Circles - was premiered live as part of
Underworld's recent headline performance at the BBC Biggest Weekend Belfast. A second track -
I'll See Big - is streaming everywhere now. Something of a flipside to Bells & Circles, I'll See Big is a
wash of gorgeous ambient sound that features Iggy recounting how friends - however
dysfunctional - have saved him from a lifetime of bad decisions. The lyric for I'll See Big was
inspired by a conversation Iggy had with Danny Boyle about the subtext of both Trainspotting films.
* After nearly 10 years, KFA returns to vinyl. As a label, KFA was widely loved for its ability to shift styles and genres, always hitting slightly off center, to produce such off kileter classics as the original 'Truffle Shuffle', a jungle anthem that gets a much deserved remix on this EP. New Signee Scartat brings the pain with monstrously heavy beats in 'Role Model', which KF Digital man of the moment Bucksta keeps it slightly mellower with 'Killer Sound', leaving Luna-C & Mr Arthur to bring the dancehall vibes with 'Judgement'.
'Water Tides' has finally seen the light of day after being on dubplate for almost 5 years! Ras Tinny's lyrics deliver a powerful & strong message with his unique and recognisable style. The flip side features a dub version by Alpha Steppa.
The original riddim, 'Integrity Dub' got Alpha Steppa's attention and started to be played out as a dubplate. Once Ras Tinny heard it, he got in contact with Rebel Samurai & Archiver, and the team was set! The tune itself is a powerful Dubstep/Dub riddim with a melody courtesy of the Melodica and Cello, and a weighty sub heavy bassline. The track was produced at Archiver's North London studio and Ras Tinny recorded his vocals a little later on at his own studio in Ireland.
Alpha Steppa's mix gives his own take on the track, delivering an intense steppers dub with a self-explanatory title for the B-Side.

Setting forth musical excellence for more than half a decade, Rotterdam-based imprint Mindtrick Records is unleashing a complementary direction through their newly established sub-label Mind Dubs. The prime focus of its sonic output being centered around the characteristics of Dub and Jungle - and both globally evolving styles. Especially but not exclusively residing in up-tempo territory, label owner and highly talented producer Atiq launches the discography with three releases of his own, being served with an excellent selection of MC's. Starting the journey properly, he's releasing its debut with highly skilled vocalist Daddy Freddy, renowned for his fluency and skillful display of rapid expressions.
Catalogued 'MDUBS001' - the Jamaican MC managed to embody the plethora of his no- holds-barred style alongside Atiq's original 'From Dusk Till Dawn'. The collaboration of his new-school Jungle vibrations and highly energetic vocal transmission of Daddy Freddy results in hefty delight for bass music aficionados around the world. Topping off the madness, we're met with a power remix employed by the soaring artist TMSV from the boiling pot of the Netherlands, who's recent feats include a release on the revered imprint Cosmic Bridge, run by Om Unit.Generously embedded in a sea of twirling delays, the resourceful control of atmospheric space is luring the primitive listener along an intensifying rhythm. Inconspicuously introducing the energetic MC, the emerging tension is being let loose with intense and unceasingly driving sub weight. Taking no prisoners, as the forward-thinking arrangement keeps positively surprising keen listeners with cunning sound design, the Jamaican vocalist exhibits his most desirable qualities on this lively piece of music - Jungle at its finest. Still feeling the aftershocks, the flip-side remix by Utrecht's TMSV introduces a more trippy side - as if the track was gasping for air before the complete sound frequency spectrum unfolds and vibrates itself into every single fiber of your consciousness. Anthemic pads unfold along thrilling percussion works to fill the gaps in between the massive bassline foundation - soaked in an inventive take on the proficient vocals, ranging 'From Dusk Till Dawn'.

Claiming a highly original sound that boasts strong roots in dubstep's rich history, Causa's musical output delivers a fresh perspective on sound system music that holds true to tradition yet strives for innovation; a recipe that with undoubtedly help dictate the unwritten narrative of the genre's future. With productions having already graced global dubstep labels such as Surfase Records, Circle Vision, FatKidOnFire, Artikal Music and Infernal Sounds, this German badman continues to prove himself as a force to be reckoned with amongst the underground circuit. On top of his impressively nuanced and steady growing catalogue, Causa's productions have also received play support from prominent scene heavy hitters, with multiple tracks featured on J:Kenzo's Rinse FM guest mixes as well as on Vivek's Rinse FM mix and Mesck's Chestcast mix.
Causa makes a bold introduction to Sleeper's highly prolific Crucial Recordings label with his new, three-track EP entitled Juce (CRUCIAL013); the latest addition to the imprint's standard-setting and ever-expanding vision for pushing multifaceted bass music. Laden with laid back, minimalist vibes and understated swag dictated by massive bassweight pressure and infectious percussive patterns, Causa's release delivers the earthy meditation of dubstep's powerful roots while keeping the energy dark, moody and forward-facing. Each of Juce's three tracks: 'Minerals,' 'Struggle' and 'Juce' work together beautifully to orchestrate the creeping and commanding story of Causa's Crucial EP; a story that sheds light onto the darker shades of dubstep production while simultaneously celebrating the significance of the genre's foundation.

It's been a while since Red Laser's last release which left a void in the UK output of Manctalo synth jams but now a planned schedule of three releases in quick succession means plenty more analogue chug for you to rattle your bones to.
First of the 3 is this unique double gatefold LP from Red Laser original Kid Machine.Kid Machine delivers a 5 star upgrade to the signature sound that people worldwide have fallen in love with. 808 kicks and DX 7 licks bubble under the atmospheric chord changes creating a soundtrack which is just as comfortable on the dance floor as it is on a midnight drive.Alien Dance darts around to irregular delight. The dramatic score of Asteroids builds until it soars high above the grid. The bassline on Beast drills a blackened dance floor in preparation to be replaced with 80's discotheque neon squares.Beyond Cygnus takes flight and drifts across a Martian plane. The 808 kicks and orchestral synth stabs of Conquest crush all known reality into a space the size of a photon and the weight of its gravity is unbeatable. Standing out amongst the pack is the apply titled 'Forever Machine'.
A proper Manctalo synth anthem guaranteed to deliver speaker destruction. The LP closes with classic Machine style bangers 'Flight Manoeuvres' and 'Seconds From Oblivion'.
They bring this galactic odyssey to a confident end. This is a cracking journey through the outer rim and back.
Second repress of this seminal work from Kiyoko aka Synkro and Bering Straight.
Kiyoko is Synkro and Bering Strait. Following on from their sublime debut LP 'Sea Of Trees' for ASC's Auxilliary label, Kiyoko were approached to contribute to the Horo series in an effort to take it even further outside the constraints of any bpm or musical genre. The resulting 4 track EP is akin to having your mind soaked in honey while you float on top of clouds in the kind of dream you never want to wake from. With titles removed to allow your mind to associate your own mental images to each track, Kiyoko takes Synkro's genius touch with soaring emotions and spreads them evenly into a gentle soothing melancholy that few electronic musicians are capable of. Marbled vinyl 10 only.

It features Tessela's 'Glisten', a track we've loved and coveted since Joy O slipped into his essential mix in 2016. Alongside that is the 'Intimidating Stillness Mix' Of Lanark's 'Touch Absence', which we first released as a limited edition Whities dubplate back in 2016. It has been remastered by Beau Thomas at Ten Eight Seven and the artwork as always was designed by Alex McCullough

For the second foray into past hidden gems by some of our favourite producers, brokntoys is pleased to welcome French producer Raphael Vendramini aka Automat. Known for his electro output on labels such as SCSI-AV, this 5-track EP showcases excerpts of his unique dark and atmospheric sound and includes the haunting 'Dark Days' previously released digitally on Parisian label Milles Feuilles.
Born in Munich, Sebastian Schnitzenbaumer aka BELP partially grew up on the Seychelles islands off the coast of East Africa. Educated in classical piano, those two gravitational poles, European and African influences, became the basis for his musical development. Having travelled extensively with a closer connection to London over the years, BELP kept his base in Munich, becoming part of a small alternative scene questioning the predominantly rich and posh surface of the city. Blending jazz, dub and noise, an emphasis on darkness in his broken beat oriented works evolved as a reaction to a rather hedonistic society preferring warm and uplifting sounds.
Christopher Chaplin returns with a new solo album featuring voices and vocals by renown musician, poet and artist Leslie Winer and Nathan Vale , the British classical tenor vocalist. The longplayer translates John Milton's poem about the descent to hell of fallen angels into epic soundscapes!
"Paradise Lost' is the second album by London-based musician and composer Christopher James Chaplin. Following 'Je suis le Ténébreux' (2016), 'Paradise Lost' condenses experimental electronics into a chamber music setting, once again transporting us to intermediate mental and spatiotemporal states. This album features the voices of Nathan Vale and Leslie Winer. Vale is a British tenor and reciter, who specializes in baroque singing. The US musician, poet and artist Winer is almost his counterpart: Jean-Paul Gaultier described her as the first androgynous model, and she has worked with Sinéad O'Connor, Grace Jones and Helmut Lang, among others. Whereas 'Je suis le Ténébreux' was an artistic interpretation of Gérard de Nerval's poem of the same name, and of the 'Enigma of Bologna', Christopher Chaplin's new album translates John Milton's poem about the descent to hell of fallen angels into epic soundscapes. Nothing is clearly structured - instead we find ourselves in a dreamlike state of limbo. Moments of turbulence transform into musical states that collapse, roam through space, or grow into complex structures. It is a music of dark shimmering poetry that thrives on its own ambiguity'

Johnny L's classic gets the re-whisk from a solid set of UK bassheads... TIP!
At the tail-end of 2017, XL Recordings reissued Jonny L's seminal D&B album 'Sawtooth' on vinyl for the first time. A move that further cemented the record's game-changer status, DJ Mag hailed the record as being still the future', while Resident Advisor said 20 years later, Sawtooth still sounds like an outlier.'
So after showcasing this 20-year-old classic, XL Recordings are today releasing a 12' containing remixes of the most iconic track from the LP, 'Piper'. With efforts from Peverelist, Overmono, Powell and Zomby, these remixes go some way towards showing the influence Jonny L's music still has on a wide range of contemporary electronic artists.
In their own words:
Peverelist
I was 18 when 'Piper' came out. It was a time when drum and bass was evolving rapidly and tunes like 'Piper' were at the vanguard of that change. I remember there was red and green 10" versions of the single, the red one had the Grooverider mix on, a subtle reworking of the original. I could never figure out which I preferred. My remix is influenced by both, stark, mechanical, robotic and futuristic but rolling with a deep groove, hopefully I've retained that.
Overmono
There's so much gold on the XL back catalogue, but some of it shines more brightly than the rest. 'Piper' is one of those tracks that has genuinely stood the test of time - an understated classic.
Powell
I'll never forget the snap of that snare in the club and Piper's kind of rigid, uptight sense of funk. It was a huge tune for me. I was hooked on that whole stripped, ice cold, tech-steppin' sound — neurofunk as Simon Reynolds once called it. I wanted to explore that feeling of sleek, skeletal coldness in my remix. Huge tune (the original, not mine , ))
Zomby
Been dancing to his music since hurt u so came out

Stuart A. Staples releases Arrhythmia on 15 June via City Slang, his first solo album in thirteen years. Arrhythmia is immersive and experimental, both recognisably the work of the Tindersticks' frontman and simultaneously a stand-alone, unique piece of work. It's a provocative album where electronic experimentations and rare multi-instrumentations interweave, wrapping themselves around unconventional but utterly spellbinding song structures.

Only one month after the release of their first ep on MT on May 2018, Vactrol Park continue surprising, this time with a full LP in the shape of 'Music from the Luminous Void'.The album sees VP delve much deeper into more atmospheric realms. Using modular synths and unexpected drum machine sequencing they leave the 4X4 beats behind in favor of off-world rhythms and ever growing bass. Starting with Drops's high frequency tension, laying on top of those heavy kick drums it keeps on growing and growing. From there it moves to the 'End of the party' groove that is Novikov's Notation, and its trippy monotonic rhythm. The A-side ends with the heavy sampled ambient track Macbeth, bringing forward that mesmerizing flute solo by Italian artist Luca Spagnoletti yet succeeding in avoiding the kitsch, and with a touch of class. The B-side delves even deeper into ambience and atmospheric muzak. Starting with Bells, that features again Spagnoletti on flute. Then we get into the real gems of the album - Anstruther and Glove. The first is a pure trip into modular psychedelia and repetitive jazzy-like drum rhythms, creating tension right from the start and plays with it throughout the track before decaying slowly into Glove, which is in sense both the catharsis and the decompression session of the album. Like a 2018 version of Vangelis, this track's soundscape will keep you dreaming with your eyes closed long after the album ends.

For his inaugural EP under new guise 'Yem Gel', NTS Manchester resident and visual artist Alecs Pierce comes through with a four-track cacophony of sounds for Dave Maclean (Django Django) run label Kick + Clap.
From previous experimental outings as Obsidian Pond, gristed petunia and, Handi Dogh he returns with this new project based solely on electronic compositions, giving the multi-instrumentalist artist a chance to further explore his electronic leanings. Operating with a clear mission statement, Yem Gel moniker seeks to live up to its name's reference to malleable 'fictional future plastics' by offering a set of genre-spanning compositions, drawing from multiple influences from ambient, drum 'n' bass or grime and leaving us wondering where he might take us next.
Having tamed last year's havoc and disparity into the damaged rapture of 'Layers of Reality,' Anthony Linell is opening a new calendar with the sheared isolation of his latest album, 'A Sense of Order.' Linell has put his toolkit for summoning euphoria aside here, instead sculpting a glowing, diaphanous fog that swells into pensive melodies and arpeggiated whispers. Graceful for the way in which it makes the bleak hospitable, the charm of coldness invites us toward the empty and the beautiful, and away from the miserable.

If you've been out to a certain type of club in Europe over the past few years (genre- ambivalent, rhythmically adventurous), you'll almost certainly have come across Rome-based producer Lorenzo BITW's neck snapping syncopations and joyously constructed hooks. Releases for touted club brands Enchufada and Nervous Horizon have brought Lorenzo's tracks to dancefloors and radio waves alike and he's proven comfortable across tempo and mood.Having previously released the Mina-assisted Tombura', Lorenzo's deft drum concoctions will be familiar to fans of the label, but the breadth of Love Junction shows a newfound confidence, embodied in the warm embrace of Hello' and the technical, start-stop strut of Goo'. Equal parts earnest and assertive -- and provide two potential pop moments, the former for faded LA summer drives and the latter dank London basements.Throughout Love Junction, tempo shifts and earworm mhooks keep the listener quite literally on their toes but its the emotional acuity imbued throughout that ties the album together from start to finish.

The self-titled OneMind album project blurs the gap between jungle, dub and electronica, with each production detailed enough that new sounds are discovered on every listen, something that the duo have stated they feel is missing from modern electronic dance music.
The music created under this moniker consists of an array of ideas influenced by a melting pot of creative freedom, which OneMind are now ready to share in the form of a 17-track album preceded by a 2-track sampler.

While notorious in the Chicago streets, RP Boo's music had been unfairly confined to a few white labels and self-released mixtapes until his two archival Planet Mu LPs Legacy and Fingers, Bank Pads & Shoe Prints introduced broader audiences to his sonic history, some of it fifteen years after it was first recorded. I'll Tell You What! is the next step in his mission, and the first time he's released an album of contemporary material. The title, a favorite maxim of his, welcomes listeners to sit down and let him narrate in the unforgettable abstract fashion he's known for. He explores familiar motifs such as the cosmos, movement, and opposition, using densely interwoven vocals, unpredictable percussion, and evil humming bass as his tools of choice. RP Boo's music doesn't follow the traditional rules that most compositions do. Layering decades of samples from yesteryear to the present over his commanding vocal cut-ups, he transports the listener to their own realm of the space-time continuum. The main difference between this record and his prior work is now we hear Boo tell new stories about preaching his gospel outside of Chicago, from his experiences frantically touring the globe over the last five years. The words 'things ain't been the same / since I hopped the plane' are repeated on top of engine sounds and rumbling bass on Flight 1235, a glorious paean to his new jet-setting adventures. The spirit of competition runs through RP's veins as much as blood does, something you can't unlearn when you've been making music for Chicago's footwork circuit as long as he has. The local culture has served as a shelter from the violence that has plagued the city, pitting kids against each other with their feet rather than weapons. On At War Boo reminds us 'we are at war in the streets', a double meaning to both the mayhem in this world and the sweetness of rivalry on the dance floor. Another battle-themed track Cloudy Back Yard, one of the spacier moments on this album, is an abstract on the state of footwork's home. Chicago remains the backyard of this artform even though it's left the porch and traveled to new neighborhoods worldwide. Back at home though, competition among the DJs and dancers continues, and as the man himself says, 'with all this hate, there's smoke, and it's cloudy'. I'll Tell You What! throws more than a few curveballs into the mix. Footwork has always borrowed from hip-hop, and many vocal tracks are almost condensed raps, dating back to the street chants pioneered on Dance Mania Records in the ghetto house days. On Bounty, Boo grabs the mic and brazenly lays down a full-on verse of terror over a thick atmosphere of his signature sweltering low-end and erratic Roland R-70 patterns. While he's most famous for his confrontational battle anthems, his melancholy moments are just as powerful. You get the best of both of those worlds on U-Don't No, with soulful samples finishing his own cocky sentences, one of the most elegant tracks RP has made to date. Deep Sole closes the record out, with the words 'It's always beautiful at the end' looping over waves of hypnotic synthesis, confidently looking death straight in the eyes.
Marking his first appearance on Northern Electronics, Copenhagen's Rune Bagge delivers a debut album of capricious rhythms set against the thrilling glare of an icy daybreak. There are some remarkably magnetic moments to be found in the ambient pieces on 'Pink Dreams,' though the friction burns from 'Five Elements' and the rest of the club numbers will demand urgent attention.

Eocity is the result of a study on technological failure and the imagination of a non-existent urban landscape.
This project features the use of a Yamaha ex5r, one of the rst synths to ever implement VL synthesis.
The "Yamaha Virtual Acoustic" Synthesis tone generation was born to try to accurately emulate the complex vibrations and other acoustic phenomena of real instruments and their sounds within space, but the dubious results of this technology gave birth to something more.
Its nal output sound happens to be cold and synthetic while being also organic and warm at the same time, welcoming the listeners into a feeling of an arti cial world that is neither digital nor analog.
In this world man is not around anymore and the binary language survived him, communicating with the rest of the natural environment, in respect of its laws and dynamics, becoming one indistinct entity.
Eocity is a place that exists in between the imaginary and the real one, gently oating as a digital tactile experience.

Travel agents for inner journeys Seahawks take us on a voyage ever deeper into the new age vortex. Their last album 'Escape Hatch' described by Vice as a 'modern masterpiece' only hinted at the transcendent power of Seahawks music. Eternal Beams goes 'further' to create a whole new harmonial experience. Side one: the listener immersed in a soft storm of tape saturated raindrops and distant thunder...numinous waves of sound cascade to create whirlpools of womb-like warmth with gentle pulsations. Side two: enter Laraaji... flocculent flows of golden zither, rich vocal vibrations, dolphin tones in phantasy phase - all coalesce generously, bringing feelings of rebirth and light. To conclude: a wondrous journey of resonant oscillations, inner exploration, a portal to other dimensions.

In 2006 Salvador Breed and Stijn van Beek met while studying Sound Design and Music Technology at the Utrecht School of the Arts. Ever since then the pair have been beavering away behind an arsenal of blinking banks in Amsterdam. The musical fruit of this twelve year friendship Breek. A partnership that smears the boundaries of styles and sounds with festive flare. For their vinyl debut, a candy coloured cornucopia of elements are swirled and whirled. Braindance, electronica and neo-classical are festooned with dubby tones and underground grit in a unique sound of diverse textures and deep tones. Faster works, like the swooping joy of "Yokai", are countered by more contemplative "Ama." "Hang" is a whimsical dreamscape of squirming acid lines, crisp drums and angular notes that combine to produce a brilliantly bright piece. "Mu-Onna" and "Oiwa" are more abstract works that melt vocals with sweet strings before the final piano swells and ambient rains of "Burabura." A daring and dynamic vinyl debut from this eccentric duo with stunning artwork from Warren du Preez and Nick Thornton Jones (Massive Attack, Bjork en UNCLE).
This is Om Unit's legendary Philip D Kick alias brought back after 7 years in retirement with it's first original material!
5 incredible Jungle Footwork fireworks from Om Unit's legendary 'Philip D Kick' alias. Adding Acid, 4/4 UK Hardcore and sound killing Amens to the sound he spawned in 2011, when he created 3 x Philip D Kick 'Footwork Jungle' EPs, and took classic Jungle anthems and footworked them. It could be argued that Om Unit's 'Philip D Kick' alias spawned an entire movement despite being immediately retired. As label boss Fracture says "At the time, this was mind-blowing." So 7 years later it is with great pleasure and genuine excitement Astrophonica present Philip D Kick's first original material - 'Pathways' - which also features Teklife/Chicago Footwork originator DJ Spinn for the guest feat. on "Vibe Off".
Astrophonica proudly presents Philip D Kick - Pathways' and we'll start by passing you straight over to Label boss Fracture...
This is really a special record for Astrophonica. It could be argued that Jim Coles aka Om Unit's Philip D Kick alias spawned an entire movement which dictated the sound of future. The three Philip D Kick 'Footwork Jungle' EPs released in 2011 saw Jim take classic Jungle anthems and footwork them. At the time, this was mind-blowing, I'd never heard anything like it. Even though I had been checking for Footwork and of course, have a history and love for Jungle. These edits spawned a generation of younger producers and revitalised older producers like myself. It also bought Jim and I together as friends and later on collaborators. So it is with great pleasure and genuine excitement that I present to you Philip D Kick's first original material - Pathways.'
And now over to the man himself for a few words... Philip D Kick, Jim, Om Unit...
"I decided once I was done with my Om Unit 'Self' project that I wanted to have some real fun with breaks again, and something drew me back to working at 160bpm, I wanted to make some more fun light-hearted stuff, and so I felt like returning to the Philip project would be a nice way of not only re-visiting something that was such a vibe back in the day but also now that all the fuss around so called 'jungle footwork' as a 'thing' has died down."
Pathways opens with 'In Formation' which sets off with familiar breaks before descending into uncharted Acid Footwork Jungle territory. 'Work That' traces the 4/4 UK hardcore lineage to plot a new course for the dance floor. 'Drown' draws energy from drum-funk to discover an ethereal breakdown that leads to a sound killing Amen finale. Two worlds collide on the same course in 'Vibe Off' with Chicago based Footwork pioneer DJ Spinn claiming he's vibing off the beat and honestly, who can blame him 'For Real' is a fitting ending to Pathways. A lights out and headphones on journey from moody drum machine rhythms to euphoric synth lines.

London based artist Ben Vince is best known for his minimal & transcendent saxophone soundscapes. With 'Assimilation' we find Ben treading new ground with his recorded output, moving away from the limitations of solo Saxophone, instead embracing collaboration and communication to forge new paths. Whilst Vince's Sax work still undeniably holds 'Assimilation' together, the new territories explored by working with an artistically diverse range of collaborators allows new life and influence to flow through Ben's work. The album features collaborations with Micachu (Mica Levi), Rupert Clervaux, Merlin Nova, Valentina Magaletti, and Cam Deas. Ben Vince has also recently collaborated on a 12' with Joy O (forthcoming on Hessle Audio).
We got Cuthead on Rat Life Number 12. You probably know this guy. He is respected worldwide for his one of a kind House and Hip-Hop productions. Lately he said, he got a bit bored with all the soulful jazzy sampling, the groovy shuffles and the catchy hooklines. So, he decided to do something a little different for Rat Life Records. Well, thank you Sir! Happy to present these five variations of banging sounds!
Noisy bugger Jesse Sanes helms the first release from Free The Land; a collaborative multimedia project focussed on the binds between nature and technology, which also involves contributions by Puce Mary, his partner in the JH1.FS3 duo, as well as Nial Morgan of the Presh label.
Previously manifest in print, as installations, and via 'guerrilla internet performance', Free The Land's first physical musical release is the soundtrack to their immersive installation at Fylkingen New Music and Intermedia Art in Stockholm. Originally a 4-channel situation, it has been translated to stereo for this immersive release, conjuring a headspace that recalls the ambient environmental sensitivities of Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement as much as the variegated mutations of Portuguese project, Transflora.
Weaving location recordings from the project's colleagues in Israel, Vietnam, France and Mexico, along with original 'ecophonic-electronic' pieces by Puce Mary and Nial Morgan, the results documented and described as Ecophony frame and bring to life a delicate yet rugged sonic ecology that's arguably much greater than the sum of its parts.
While ultimately everything comes thru Jesse for the final mix, the variety of voices and inputting hands becomes apparent as the session scrolls thru its persistently moprphing scenes of dense
undergrowth, shoreside breezes, sunlit canopies and industrial farming sounds.

Four Pieces of Mirai is a stunning prelude to James Ferraro's epic new work about civilisational decline, planned to span four releases this year. The initial transmission finds the preeminent bard and prescient se'er of the 21st Century establishing a dystopian present not dissimilar to our own, where society is in feudal bondage to digital networks, and the best resolution to the problem is a malware DDoS attack that disrupts the hold of the internet.
In keen pursuit of the hi-fi avant-pop themes central to Ferraro's work since his critically acclaimed Far Side Virtual [Hippos In Tanks, 2011], the criminally unsung hero of the contemporary
underground sets the scene for a timely and playfully foreboding vision of where humanity is headed, based on where we are now.
Poetically extrapolating from the present, Ferraro projects a musical allegory of the 'technological plague, suburban decay, neofeudalism, hyper-connectivity, social famine and virtual exodus' that feels all too imminent. Integrating ideas from medieval music, Rensaissance music and ambient electronics with traces of hardstyle techno trance, metal, and indie-pop, the results broadly acknowledge and distill the modern sonic ecology to paint a dramatic realisation of humanity at a crisis of technological abundance and dysfunction, conceptually showcasing Ferraro's uncanny ability to translate the peculiar character of our historical times into precise musical expression.
As the relationship between the scale of big data and ocio-political structures becomes inarguably apparent in recent times, few artists are better equipped than James Ferraro - a crucial, pivotal pioneer of prevailing vaporware and lo-fi trends - to incisively meditate and imagine a future the world is anxiously anticipating.

Pseudocode in a kind of free form minimal electronique concrete mood. There`s even the odd suggestion of a pop tune here and there, maybe even some danceable beats, if you`ve got one leg shorter than the other. While Xavier S. contributes most of the lyrics and vocals, Guy-Marc Hinant plays often the core melody on guitar or electric piano, Neffe's contributions are particularly noteworthy throughout, as he weaves together the bulk of the sonic cloth through overdubbing and mixing.one of his parts are remotely virtuosic (hence his self-identification as a non-musician), but they are always unexpected and perfect in and of themselves, emotionally and sonically, and in that sense they are deeply musical. This could be seen as the missing link between Slaughter In Tiny Place and Europa - third and final LP by Peudocode. All songs are unreleased. Recorded and mixed between 1980 and 1981.
Tim Reaper needs no introduction, but we'll give him one anyway. This prolific and talented London-based producer has carved out a formidable reputation within the scene over the last few years, with releases on imprints such as Blu Mar Ten, DSC14, Scientific Wax, 117 Recordings, Skeleton Recordings and Repertoire to name but a few - he is a man who has become one of the most sought-after artists in Jungle/Drum N Bass, and not without reason.

180gr Black vinyl, full colour sleeve. Our journey continues with an ep of pure ageless music for the dancing brain, four tracks dusted from the archives of this mysterious artist. Real name Alastair Johnson released only few eps and one album in the mid/late 90s and then almost disappeared, we are more than happy to have the opportunity to highlight this material. The other big great satisfaction is also to be able to involve the historical warp-affiliated duo B12 for a really deep and spacey interpretation. Have a good trip!

er releasing Sizike-U Zemlji Cuda With Lost DATA Tracks LP where we issued six previously unreleased tracks of group DATA, we thought that we have done everything we could in order to bring you some great unknown music of this group. Hope that we will find more material one day was still present, but we could hardly believe it will ever happen. What a misapprehension! It turned out that old, mysterious 80's Belgrade with amazing people and their wondrous destinies has a lot more to say. We will never forget one afternoon meeting with these artists which was a starting point and a clue for the further investigation. As it happens in a fairy tales and quests for the lost treasure, after lot of wondering, finally the luck came on our side. We met Nikolaj Bezek, an important contributor for the whole 80's Belgrade scene in whose home studio Max&Intro, Sizike, DATA, Master Scratch Band made their first recordings. Nikolaj's passion for music and love and respect for his two friends - artists Zoran Jevtic and Zoran Vracevic didn't allow him to destroy their old recordings, made more than 30 years ago. It seems like he believed in them more than they believed in themselves. Digging, exploring, restoration and mastering these old recordings that came right after were pretty challenging too, but incredibly exciting. Nikolaj was with us, as he had been with Jevtic and Vracevic 30 years ago. Finally, as an outcome, the new release is born: DATA-Could You Find Your Analog Mind ,LP compilation with 12 previously unreleased tracks of group DATA made between 1981 and 1984. The record represents an important and comprehensive musical testimony of early Belgrade's electronic scene made by two pioneers Zoran Jevtic and Zoran Vracevic. It shows both Jevtic and Vracevic as pioneers of remixing and editing as well as composers of early Yugoslavian synth pop made under influence of Japanese scene!
The whole album is divided into two sides as two entities, but with distinct connection. A side reveals quite interesting set of songs and remixes made in the time when editing and remixing implied cutting and gluing magnetic tapes with no digital processing of sound and mixing. This was the time of analog sequencers, synths, rhythm machines, vocoders- quiet robust machines which were very hard to use and which generated a pretty much noise in signal processing. Programming of these gears was really complicated and if you wished to make your own sound, you had to be more into technology and science than into music. In addition, the lack of storage capacity in these early models of synths required special approach in composing and playing: you had to be extremely creative in order to make some interesting sounds! Actually, all the beauty consisted in that approach: you had to make everything from the scratch, all was yours, nobody else had exactly the same tone and whenever you wished to call it you had to be inspired! Through all six songs on A side we can find such inspiration, plenty of unique tunes, lines, melodies, patches, samples, FXs, made in moments of creative madness. Accordingly, we cannot find anything strange in the fact that all songs on A side sound as a whole, special session disengaged from usual patterns in song structuring. The whole approach in sound creating was transposed in approach to song structuring. The result is awesome: a bunch of experimential electronic with lot of amazing sounds and patches in brilliantly funny atmosphere. Creativity at its best!
B side is equally thrilling, but completely different in concept and atmosphere. Here we can find more obscure, dark and mysterious synth pop. Like many British synth pop bands in late 70s and early 80s, DATA was influenced by Japanese pioneers: Yellow Magic Orchestra and Logic System. In bringing synth pop, wave, experimental electronic genres to their own country, Vracevic and Jevtic knew that they must find their inspiration from the source, where everything began. That's the reason why their music sounds so authentic, they absorbed only influences which were undisputable- as the sounds made by brilliant minds of Roland and Korg's engineers, or in magical synth atmosphere by Takahashi, Sakamoto , Hosono, Matsutake and others. From opening track "Japon" till the last track on the B side "Secanje Na Ljubav", DATA is convincing: strong authorship with healthy influence and very intimate and poetic expression all the way through. Two Eastern Europeans dream about distant land of synth masters. Unique!
Ultimately, this record reveals the totally new ranges of early Belgrade and Yugoslavian synth pop scene. With outstanding analog remixes and yugo synth made under the influence of Japanese pioneers, it stands side by side with the most interesting archival releases of the year. Record's final touch, from transparent blue vinyl, 80s cover design technique, list of equipment, to its concept described in a title, is designed to make your journey through the world of analog electronic unforgettable.

Shunter, the new album by the Berlin-based duo Driftmachine, is their most ambitious work to date. Although instantly recognizable, featuring their trademark Kosmische and Avant-garde sounds, it also presents a new journey into abstract and hallucinatory worlds. Filled with eerie textures, their electronic visions are darker and more vaporous than ever.
Driftmachine's fourth album (also the fourth one for Umor Rex) offers a new perspective on their ample sound spectrum and systemic narratives. Shunter overlaps and mutates their post-industrial-dub motives. It was conceived and produced in search of a very different kind of imagery, with sections of noise and field recordings intersecting with analogue sounds, a mixture of contrasted fragments, where the usual creative process of modular-synthesis leads Gerth and Zimmer to the discovery of a dark, hazy and diffused experience. There is a protean quality to the rhythmic elements, with tempos constantly contracting and expanding, a departure from the mono-beat-rhythms of "Nocturnes" and "Colliding Contours". The first half of Shunter is made of four pieces named "Shift", although individually separated, they are conceptually linked and can be understood as a sort of score. Imagine a late stage of the industrial revolution, with the interaction between heavy machinery and human beings. The second half of the album is not completely separated, but it has three other substantial melodic moments. Somewhere between the hauntological and the realms of archive-music, a huge range of subterranean beats and distinct patterns dotting the landscape of early electronic and post dub music.
All songs written & produced by Driftmachine (Andreas Gerth & Florian Zimmer), Berlin.
Mastered by Rafael Anton Irisarri. Design by Daniel Castrejón.
* Tune of the Month in DJ mag.
* Mixmag - 9/10
* Alex Eveson is a talented man. Not only has he made a name for great liquid tunes for labels such as Creative Source, V Recordings, Horizons, 31 Records & Ingredients, he is also a brilliant artist and graphic designer.
* So what was next Well his new monika 'Dead Man's Chest' which, when he sent over the demos we knew we had to release it. Four stunning oldskool jungle tracks written at 157bpm and he has really captured Tom & Jerry (4 Hero), 3rd party records & late 93 jungle music. 'All about u" is a fantastic journey, 'Revenant' has that classic jungle vibe, "Foundation days" is just deep dj Randall business & 'Dreamscapes' is a stunning atmospherical roller, absolutely nailed it too. We're really excited about this EP and maximum boost to Eveson aka Dead Man's Chest.
* Full release on raspberry ripple special clear vinyl with full artwork sleeve by the man himself.

Following transmissions from Nubian Mindz and Cyclonix this year, Phuture Shock Musik returns to welcome new signing Damián Botigué aka Karmasound to the fold, who makes his debut outing on wax with the six-track strong 'Probabilidades' EP.
Hailing from Buenos Aires, though currently residing in Barcelona, the Argentine musician and producer has plied his trade for a number of years, which has yielded collaborative projects and releases beyond his homeland, including the self-released 'Magnetic Love' EP and later compilation appearances on Tokyo Dawn and BBE records as one half of electronic soul act Saturn's Children - with London soul singer-songwriter Emeson. While further production has surfaced on releases by Spanish hip hop outfit K.A.O.S, collaborative works under the moniker Evan& Damian, not to mention a few low-key efforts of his own.
Here on 'Probabilidades' EP, Karmasound widens his highly musical, soulful sound, and delivers an electronic-tinged release, where his South American heritage and Latin musical roots remain at the core, while traversing through broken beat, hip hop, jazz, fusion, funk and Afro-Latin flavours. With six cuts varying in rhythm, tempo and influence, the 12' highlights Botigué's extremely diverse production style and makes for a perfect introduction to a very fine talent on the rise.
Kicking off side A is the stuttering bossa-bruk rhythms of 'Compra Pan' which playfully lopes its way around jazzy keyboard stabs that duet with chirpy synth melodies and supple basslines. The frenetic beats of 'Flashback' follows and ups the tempo, while running amok with solid double bass, spacey synths and an infectious Brazilian-infused keyboard groove that brings to mind the classic samba doido' stylings of Azymuth. Before making way for the future jazz-funk of 'Summer Rain', where vocalist and regular collaborator, Sara Bee adds soaring vocal harmonies over syrupy Rhodes chords and a cascade of glowing synths, firmly underpinned by bristling Latin percussion and broken beats. Face down opens up with the beat-driven jaunt 'Dulce De Leche', which revolves around a hypnotic keyboard motif, interlocked with rolling synthbass and a tasty clave and cowbell-laden drum track that fluidly morphs between hip hop beats and lilting jazz-fusion grooves. Next up appears the up-tempo cosmic funk of 'Probabadilidades', where clunky, shuffling rhythms bordering on jazz jungle, collide with pattering hi-hats and claps, against a backdrop of sophisticated keys and a bulbous bassline that contorts through the arrangement. While rounding off the EP on a laidback tip is 'Sobremesa Eterna' - a composition guided by wah guitar licks, balmy Rhodes chords and shimmering organs that cruise elegantly over off kilter rhythms, all of which inhabits a sweet spot between soulful, late-night hip hop jams and the west London sound with a Latin swagger.

Markus Guentner's story continues where his last album, 'Theia' left off with another set of epic atmospheres and brave new worlds. This time Markus enlists the skills of harpist, Tom Moth, cellist, Julia Kent and fellow ambient storyteller, bvdub to complete the journey. From fiery remnants, a universal rhythm emerged. An ebb and flow of force and fate, creating worlds within worlds, forever connected by an infinite empire. Markus Guentner's 2015 album, 'Theia' took us back to the mythological impact that birthed the Earth's moon. The creation of the galaxy as we know it today was being born and more specifically, the eventual rise of the human species followed. This is where Empire takes its cue, continuing the story and portraying the connection and many interactions between the Earth, the Universe and the mystifying forces amongst them. Be it physical, scientific or mythological, Empire draws on the ebb and flow relationship the Earth has with the deeper, unknown space around us. Markus dives into sometimes sinister, but always majestic territories with his unique manipulation of looping drones, textures and gradual atmospheres. The album and its planned progression, combine back-and-forth chapters between Markus' own productions and collaborations, representing the different perspectives between the unknown worlds. Beginning 'Offworld', in a dark and distant, swirling ambient chasm, Empire then moves into manipulating shards of light, with Canadian cellist Julia Kent adding a stirring yet poignant element to the growing void. Icelandic for "hiding", 'Fura' finds us back in the emptiness, but this time with a sense of hope as fluorescent molecules - future stars - gather and birth new worlds. A return to terra firma, and slow-motion grass moves all around you - a future mirage depicting a new vision of beauty that's yet to be formed, brought to you alongside fellow master of emotive ambient, bvdub. The dream is cut short and you then find yourself in the void of 'Nun' - the God of Egyptian Mythology - as echoes of man and cities once alive, are drowned out by an ever-present mysterious force and a subtle, alien static. All is not dark however, as harpist Tom Moth (Florence and the Machine) brings a shimmering, angelic shine, as you witness the growing energy and birth of the sun - the leader, life, and power amongst the Empire. Its birth, the 'New World Order', closing with a slow churning, atmospheric piece that is both complex and elemental, gracious and sinister, dark, yet in many ways hopeful for all that remains. This is the Empire as we know it today. Empire will be available on marbled transparent orange and black vinyl (including digital download)

When visiting Fabric Club in London for he first time, Ruffhouse boss Sverre aka Top Shotta was asked politely not to wear a tracksuit when he came back next time. Rumours are that bouncers and club affiliates even took him for an original UK street mobster'.
So far the story, indicating everybody ought to know that these Ruffhouse guys are taking their business seriously: Pushing UK Bass forward. Packed parties in and around Munich, 3 stable compilations with support from internationally renowned producers and DJs. Now the first vinyl EP hits the streets, clubs and record stores.
Pastiche from Copenhagen is first to pave the way for the things to come. Drawing his inspiration from various genres such as UK Bass, Hip Hop and Baltimore club tunes up to Ambient and Electronica, his first EP comprises all these ingredients. Here put down on four massive joints, for buyers of the digital release even two bonus tracks are included.
The A-side was created for sinners by sinners - welcome to 122 Eden Beach'! Two massive Techno infused, kinda Juke style Bass bangers at 130bpm, taking no prisoners. One of these being the reinterpreted version by the man Top Shotta himself, alongside Munich's notorious wunderkind Danny Scrilla, well known for his releases on Cosmic Bridge.
On the flip, Pastiche lingers below Street Lights', his love for ambient music shining through in every second of the track. Boys Noize madman and spliff head no.1, SCNTST, puts some ruffneck jungle twist to the original, proving once more that he surely is one of the biggest talents in electronic dance music today. Deeper Causes' sums up all the flavours of Pastiche, Dub and Detroit sounds being twisted into a spacy roller while the long awaited The Happy Fall VIP' certainly lives up to the expectations of those who loved the original version. These grenades will only be available for the buyers of the digital release.
Pastiche's tracks have recently been featured in sets of the most valuable players in the UK bass scene, amongst these Mr. Mitch, Mumdance, Dusk & Blackdown and Desto, only to name a few.
With this release he will certainly attain more fans of his music and beyond that put Ruffhouse on the map of every Grime, Jungle and also Techno lover. These guys are the future!

Dark Entries re-issue one of the greatest and most overlooked albums of the 1970s. "Time Actor" was the result of a collaboration between legendary Crazy World & Kingdom Come visionary Arthur Brown and German synthesizer and ambient genius Klaus Schulze, recording under the pseudonym of his alter-ego Richard Wahnfried. "Richard" is the name of Klaus' son born in 1979, and the first name of the German composer Wagner. "Wahnfried" is the name of Richard Wagner's house, from the German "wähnen Frieden fand" (that his search and hopes will find peace). The album was a unique fusion of Brown's eccentric musical vision and Schulze's mastery of synthesis. The album was originally released in 1979 on the German Innovative Communication label. Time Actor stands out amongst Schulze's massive catalog as a masterwork of avant garde new age. Schulze helms the project on electronics, and guests include Michael Shrieve on percussion, Vincent Crane on keyboards, and vocalist Arthur Brown, who sings - or should we say, speaks - on top of it all. Schulze describes the Wahnfried project in the liner notes as the collective pseudonym of an idea: Time-Electronic, an experiment between avantgarde and muzak: Utility-music for sound-covered environment, in which a new generation grows up: Richard Wahnfried is this generation: Music between genius and nonsense: New ideas transported by an old medium to your ear.'
This newly re-mastered reissue expands the original 60 minutes of music across a double LP to help with playback and distortion experienced on original pressings. We've added a bonus track in the form of a Cosmic 12-minute extended remix by Italian producer and DJ Maurizio Delvecchio from 1983. All songs have been remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. Housed in a gatefold jacket with original album artwork featuring a surreal painting by German artist Peter Nagel plus lyrics and notes. I wish you plenty of TIME' - Klaus Schulze

It's safe to say that Steven Legget has been somewhat measured in his approach to releasing music. The Newcastle native was behind the Four Hands moniker, with releases alongside iconic industrial figures Zoviet France on Signals From The North and the classic 'Hizou' on Claremont 56 back at the turn of the decade. Now, this Firecracker Recordings release highlights a fully realised body of work, only hinted at by the aforementioned projects. Starting life as a performance in Turkish Baths located in Newcastle upon Tyne's City Pool, one of the last remaining civil saunas in the country, Legget has created a textured, melodic and immersive eulogy to the woozy, slow motion, drug free endorphin rush of the bath house. Pieces from this performance, alongside field recordings collected on the islands of Paxos and Loutro, South Crete are reimagined as a luscious ambient music. Accompanied by cello and electronics with real attention paid to musicality, vast and gaseous cinematic compositions are submerged beneath waves and drenched in steam and condensation.

Territory III" should have been the next release on TÉNÈBRE's self-titled artist label. However, as soon as the promo landed, the Cassette Library went on a shameless 'beg, borrow or steal' mission and we are now proud to present WNCL032 - a mind-blowing 4 track EP that successfully blends bass, breaks and techno, peppered with tastefully positioned ambient twists in just the right measure.

""Brilliant new duo from South London" Gilles Peterson BBC Radio 6 Music. South London electronic duo VTR release their alluring debut EP Soul to Skin on Brixton's Dream Diary Records. The five track EP veers from the melodic to the abstract as sensual lyricism occupies a distinct space amidst spectral sound design, striking a balance between haunting depth and inviting warmth. Soul to Skin was co-produced by recent R&S Records signee Afriqua, whose SLAP EP and Chronic Cool 12" out on Dream Diary brought considerable attention to the label.
The final offering on the EP is a Soul to Skin REMIX by INXEC (Crosstown Rebels, Get Physical, Cocoon and Leftroom and Culprit) Clash music were quick to premiere Soul to Skin describing VTR's sound as an "entrancing mixture- reminincent of those early James Blake EPs, or even the hushed intensity of Portishead." Jaar's Other People is pleased to present a new solo record of guitar and live custom electronics artist Patrick Higgins, an American avant-garde composer and producer from New York City. Higgins is known for his work in experimental and contemporary classical music, playing guitar and composing in the mythical avant-noise-jazz ensemble Zs. His solo work as a composer unites European avant-garde forms with the post-minimalist howl of New York. His upcoming release on Other People, 'Dossier,' is a four-movement piece performed live without overdubs or edits. All of the samples and synthetic patches were custom built and specifically engaged to become elements of live guitar manipulation. The sound world is post-apocalyptic in spirit but builds to an intimate and reflective end. The material was developed over a two-year period and finalized at the end of 2016. Cover art is by Alfredo Jaar.
Fresh on Francis Harris' Kingdoms imprint comes Rasmus Juncker's 'Ophold' - six tracks of sublime atmospheres and textures. The Danish musician, sound composer and DJ fits perfectly with the label's aesthetic, joining the dots between ambient, leftfield electronica and modern classical.
Juncker has a background in studying jazz drumming and has been playing improvised music within the jazz domain for many years. He also started to DJ at the age of 14 and was introduced to the world of electronic music production at the same time.
When Rasmus started to think about his debut album he spent several months trying to find his own way to combine his favourite musical influences, improvisation, electronics and classical music. 'Almost a year later', Juncker says, "I went to a sensory deprivation floating tank in Copenhagen while researching for another performance and while I was lying there, floating in the water, deprived from most of my senses, I got the idea to do something drastic in my musical process. Philosophers like Immanuel Kant describe this deprived state as a mental 'Cesura', which became some sort of guideline for the album."
So Juncker decided to start working on the album by leaving the process as well as the final result completely open. 'I wanted to create sounds and music that I had no idea what they would sound like, but would feel like a mental 'Cesura', an 'Ophold' (in Danish)' he states.
He invited musicians, one after the other, to his studio. "I had an electronic musician to improvise patterns and new interesting sounds based on my experience in the deprivation tank. I chose some of the takes and some weeks later I invited a jazz guitarist to listen and improvise on top of what he heard. Then a classical string quartet and a double bass player came to my studio months later, and finally I recorded myself on percussion and drums.
Throughout the recording process I've been experimenting with special microphones in various setups, used noises from the recordings and the room became absolutely essential for the pieces." Juncker states.
"The material I used was all first take improvision which I arranged, layered and edited into compositions. The final pieces were mixed by Andreas Pallisgaard with the same improvised and experimental approach of the recording and the production. None of the musician met each other, but their sounds developed into something completely fantastic I think. The presence of the acoustic instruments and the depth and complexity of the synthesized layers gave some kind of an indescribable sounding music from another galaxy.
Track by track:
'Norddrum' starts proceedings - ethereal, grainy sounds merge and disassociate, as a distant rhythm gradually finds its way to the fore.
The second track, 'Sora' , clocking in at under 2 minutes, is an interlude full of strings, pads, and percussive hits, rich in feeling. This strong sense of sound design and seemingly disparate sounds woven together into a whole carries through into 'Eksotisk Tirsdag' - the strings, plucked instruments and electronics harking back to 4th world adventurers like Jon Hassel and Brian Eno.
'Cyklus' dives into drone textures, pulsing and modulating to create an unearthly soundtrack.
'Havekunst' is another 2 minutes interlude, this time bringing a fully charged rhythmic barrage to the front.
'Cesura', the final track is in essence the EP's centerpiece - a sprawling 8 minute journey that traverses tense, fibrous sections and on into pulsing modular passages, before opening up into glorious moments of wonder and brightness. It's a hugely bold yet fragile endeavour, in line with the whole release.
The remarkable thing about BELP's new album is its two-dimensional function. It works both on a loud and a quiet volume. Some tracks would go down well as a club track, like opener 'Travelling Thru Galaxies'. This track brings back memories of the best work released on the Hyperdub label, with it's fine combination of synths and irresistible, dubby beats. Elsewhere, 'Off Ending' might start off as 'dancehall-but-not-quite dancehall' track but when half way the synths kick in they change the feeling of the track to a more cerebral level.
BELP is the artist name of Sebastian Schnitzenbaumer. Born in Munich, he partially grew up on the Seychelles islands off the coast of East Africa. Educated in classical piano, those two gravitational poles, European and African influences, form the basis for his musical development. Currently he has close ties to the (dub) Sausage Studio in Hackney, London. In his hometown Munich, the Bavarian capital, BELP took a central role in a series of discussions and events aiming to improve the image and possibilities of Munich, which to his regret is a predominantly posh and hedonistic city where optimistic and uplifting music take central role.
In different guises Schnitzenbaumer works as a much needed antidote. Since 2013 he runs the Schamoni label, focusing on supporting local artists like Leroy and Protein. Its sublabel Jahmoni is responsible for recent works by international artists like Aaron Spectre and DJ Marcelle/Another Nice Mess.
BELP's music is dark, serious and layered. His love for dub and dancehall shines through in his broken beats. At the same time the synth layered tracks give the album an atmospheric feeling.
This also is what makes this album essential: it's refusal to be pigeonholed. The last track on side A, 'By Beauteous Softness', is an a cappella rendition of a 17th century Henry Purcell piece, beautifully sung by Alexander Schneider. This track is preceded by 'Transmission', which is a brilliant abstract work, sounding like wind closing on you from all sides. And you can sip a cocktail whilst listening to the jazzy 'Time And Again' (BELP once worked as a jazz pianist).
It's clear to hear BELP took a long time recording this album. Every note, synth, drum beat, is carefully placed. But what the album might lack on spontaneity it more than compensates this with its sheer musical beauty. This also reflects on the abstract sleeve, like 'Elephants' designed by BELP himself.
Enjoy this album on big speakers, as background music or simply on headphones. There will always be new sounds and layers to be discovered!

Antique Fragments EP is the third release of our Kommuna Tapes imprint. The A side starts with a quirky fast-paced track created by a mysterious producer named Schematix in 1997. Thinktank, an electro/breakbeat act who signed his first and unique EP only a few years later in 2000, takes us on a punchy yet dreamy techno journey. On the flip side, after Schematix undusted his hardware to extract the stems for the occasion, wizard Sergio Moreira mastered the challenge of creating a slower and deeper version of the track, while upcoming Madrid talent Javier Moreno closes the release with a bouncy acid burner.
Track by track, we build a Kommuna of artists who share our insatiable appetite for music discovery, guided by a certain vision of the dancefloor: deep stripped-down grooves, sometimes challenging, always with character.
