Alexandre Bazin - Sun Dog Trail

Pressing of 400 on vinyl only

The first of two wonderful LPs for the tail end of November on Polytechnic Youth, this one sees a debut for the label from Alexandre Bazin.

Alexandre is a composer and a current member of GRM, based in Paris, France. He holds a master's degree in electronic music and composition from Conservatory in Bordeaux, France. His work considers 'the sonic experience' drawing on a rich mix of acoustic instrumentation and analogue synthesis along the way. As an experimentalist music researcher, Bazin's compositional projects are primarily concerned with a very personal seal on a music with emotional power. With Sun Dog Trail', Alex merged several inspirations, Firstly, the influence of experimental electronic music, and more specifically a tribute to Bernard Parmegiani. Secondly, the influence of the blues with musicians like John Lee Hooker and Muddy Waters, (English drummer Tim Wellers (The Divine Comedy) guests on drums here).

The end result is the Sun Dog Trail', an experience that combines Bazin's usual musical fusions with experimental and blues forms, taking the listener on multiple adventurous journeys. For this album Alex used rarer instruments such as an EMS VCS3 synth, Buchla musical easel, Minimoog, and Cristal Baschet.

The LP's sleeve saw an ambitious attempt to use Franco Grignani's beautiful 1966 graphic masterpiece "Fenomeno Plastico-Chiaroscurale" as its centrepiece, and to all parties' delight, Franco's daughter Manuella willingly agreed to its use and is incorporated into a design by longterm PY ally Nick Taylor.

Like all PY releases this is expected to fly. Also like all PY output it is priced at a hugely attractive £5 per copy wholesale!

Blaue Blume - Sobs

Sobs

HFN MUSIC
20.11.2017

he Copenhagen based pop wonders Blaue Blume return with a new EP - 'Sobs'. The band formed around 6 years ago in a provincial Danish town, drawn to each other's love for rich, playful music. Blaue Blume (blue flower) is the epitome of a romantic band, their songs are brimming with love and yearning. Now 'Sobs', the follow up to their 'Syzygy' album in 2015, continues to build their reputation as a best kept secret, about to find a whole new audience of devotees. All four tracks for the EP were recorded in late 2016 in a three story villa, formerly owned by a religious cult. The band used the weird space away from the city to create a framework for the lyrics and the music. The band explains: 'Blaue Blume has been our band for about 6 years. In a bigger provincial town we started playing right out of highschool. At the moment we live in Copenhagen and every day we play, write and work on sounds. It's sort of become a life project. In our heads we make music that is playful, rich in detail and popish or somewhat smiling. For some beautifully inexplicable reason we ended up doing music together. In a way it seems sacred or at least meaningful. Macabre is a happy song about being afraid of dying. Some of us find that even the best life can be lonely sometimes. We found it interesting to address this taboo within the frame of a song that people could potentially dance or sing along to.

Polypores - The Impossibility

Pressing of 300 on vinyl only

Next up and equally fabulous is the great, and hotly anticipated, new album from Polypores. The artist's third full length for the label following a private press style, mailorder release earlier the year and first album proper The Fialka Transmissions' in 2016.

Polypores aka Stephen James Buckley makes haunted space music using an ever-expanding mound of synthesizers, samplers, and old tape recorders. Bleak, icy drones give way to 1970's Sci-Fi synth lines, throbbing bass rumbles ominously beneath a psychedelic haze of wistful melody and disembodied voices.

The Impossibility' was inspired by the destruction of the planet Earth by the human race, the early works of JG Ballard, Tarkovsky's Stalker', conspiracy theories, and places where the rules of time and space are brought into question. It was written and recorded in January 2017.

A wonderful album, which comes dressed in a Nick Taylor designed sleeve looks certain to follow the trend set by all previous releases for both artist and label, and sell out instantly.

Ritual Veil - Wolf In The Night

Limited European edition of 50 copies numbered.

"The Portland based trio of Alexander Wolfe (Vocals), Wolfgang Williams (Guitar), and Tim Iserman (Synth/Programming) cater to all your death disco needs, as Ritual Veil are well versed in the pleasures of synth & sin.

There's some serious nods to Depeche Mode embedded in their DNA, especially in the blackened sex appeal of Wolfe's rich Gahan-sian vocal styling, all while the arrangement bristles with taut energy.
Favorite Toy' is pure sexbeat of the highest order, as Williams and Iserman lay a fitting bed of club ready goth pop for Wolfe to vocally gyrate over.

Ritual Veil know their way around a perfect pop gem, one that pulls from sultry mechanics and dancefloor urgency, while deploying such gothly weapons as an echoed beat, pulsing synths, and cooled vocal exuberance..." Screaming For Years

Shit&Shine

Total Shit!

12inchDIAG035
DIAGONAL
20.03.2017

Bubbling up from his post-everything cesspit, $hit & $hine cups another killer album boff to the grill of Diagonal with Total $hit!, his second LP and 3rd full release for Powell and Jaime Williams' indomitable imprint.
A rancid ruck of rock 'n roll and industrial entrails squeezed for sustenance and sploshed with classic '80s disco, Total $hit! is nothing if not a definitive Craig Clouse record, insistently playful, scatty and demented in equal measures, but with a couldn't care less attitude that's always refreshing and welcome around these parts.
Following his grindcore lash Teardrops for Riot Season, this one is a return to the heavy truckin' styles last heard on Everybody's A Fuckin Expert with Mego and Good White Good Green for Glasgow's Heated Heads, depositing nine examples of his nonchalant style at its most distended, unsettling and, funnily enough, its most funked-up and effective.
He makes a big entrance with the blind-drunk swagger of Hot Shovel trammelling rabid tribal drums, grunts and pitched voices in a febrile hot mess, before Chklt Shk possibly betrays his no f**ks attitude with some of his canniest, adroit tweaks applied to what sounds like Anthony Shakir and MMM fighting over the last cubicle after a plate of bad seafood, then it's back to twisted smiles and buckie-sloshing skank with the acrid disco nip of Long Island City.
The record's longest, murkiest section follows with the Jacko-shampling Dodge Pot dispensing a slimy hot streak of flatulent mongrel boogie that perhaps outstays its welcome, hence the entrance of two squabbling lasses who tell it where to go, which leaves us with a version of the recumbent coke standard White Horse ready for the knacker's yard, plus a trio of saltier, off-the-wrist jags that only serve to agitate and infect the sore he's been prodding at 'til this point.
Let's be fair: Total $hit! is not big or clever but, it is messy and fun, like the soundtrack to a lock-in at a boozer exclusively full of mad c*nts who were chucked out of every other place.

Visible Cloaks - Lex

Visible Cloaks

Lex

12inchRVNGNL44
RVNG International
22.01.2018

Visible Cloaks' Lex proposes a utopian dream language and its accompanying sound, a limitless, delicate space developed by fluid musical techniques and subconscious voices. The six pieces comprising Lex simulate a more peaceful future, their mysteries telling a new tale in an unknown but imaginable melodic language. Visible Cloaks are the Portland-based musicians Spencer Doran and Ryan Carlile. Utilizing software-based composition rooted in randomization, MIDI-translation and chance operations, the duo has established an improbable humanist mode of music from esoteric processes. Following their self-titled debut album, Visible Cloaks offered Reassemblage, an album simultaneously honoring the post-Yellow Magic Orchestra school of avant musical adventure and diverging from it. Veering from the paths cleared by Japanese and Italian electronic pop and ambient artists of the mid-80s / early-90s, Reassemblage established Visible Cloaks' own camp in a forest of deep sound canopied by trees grown from synthetic seeds. The sound represented on Lex is webbed with sculptural arrangements and interpolated by the sounds of alien speech. These strange and serene utterances were created by Doran feeding a chain of multiple dialects and accents through a language translation software to create an auditory poetry of an evolved place and time.

Lex features both the final version of this process and earlier, simplified experiments with it ( Keys'). The idea - building on 'fourth world' or 'global village' type concepts - was to create a projected language that was a fusion of many,' Doran explains. The result was a very disorienting form of non-language that amplifies the lapses in meaning that occur with the inaccuracy of auto-translation software.'

Permutate Lex, a companion short film to Lex made by Visible Cloaks in collaboration with artist Brenna Murphy (who also created the artwork for Reassemblage and several virtualist videos for the album), is an integral counterpart, both visualizing an aesthetic alive with human form and guiding the sonic experience of the first five pieces: Wheel,' Frame,' Transient,' Keys,' and title track Lex.' World,' the longest piece presented on Lex, is redrawn from a generative composition originally produced for an installation Doran made with Murphy.

The original work incorporates LFOs and randomized MIDI-information, and was intended to variate indefinitely. In this 'fixed' version, World' provides a more conclusive view into the impossible musical environments Visible Cloaks make real. Longer than any track on
Reassemblage, World' expresses the deepening, patient intimations suggested by Lex.

Doran says the Lex attempts to communicate the essence of a world distant enough that it can't be captured or comprehended from the present, appearing only surreal and inscrutable.' The statement reveals a broader musical philosophy fueling this new moment, an awakened voice woven through complex melodic shapes and phrases establishes communication between listeners and the unknown, here presented by Visible Cloaks as sounds coloring the very edge of the envisionable.

Jane Weaver, Andy Votel, Suzanne Ciani, Sean Canty - Neotantrik Globes

This recording of Jane Weaver re-scored by Suzanne Ciani, Andy Votel and Sean Canty aka Neotantrik has been described by Andy Votel as the incidental music' counterpart to The Silver Globe's conceptual soundtrack. Invoking and refracting Jane Weaver's hugely acclaimed, 'The Silver Globe' in one engrossing session recorded in Bergen as part of an installation at the end of last year, we hear Jane's original material dissected, atomised and diffused into a side of mercurial, open-ended electronics and mechanical process. Her sylvan vocal and pop chimes are received from a well detached perspective, one where her melodies, harmonies and vibes are scrambled, extruded and smeared so that we hear their morphing aspects in a swirling lightshow strafing from windswept ambience thru nebulous synth space, garrotting string tension and siren-like drone-pop to a screw-twisting denouement. The album is also notable for featuring Suzanne Ciani making use of some specially comissioned Buchla modules, some of the first new pieces produced by Don Buchla in years, plus a Nagoya Harp played through a fuzz pedal and Dulcimer fed through a space echo. It's totally absorbing and is perhaps one of thee strongest recordings we've heard from the trio's one-of-a-kind setup, given an added dimension by Weaver's hugely evocative voice.

Laminat / Kobermann - Untitled Ep

Having carefully honed an inimitable sound that caresses the left-facing corners of techno
and house, this release marks a special milestone for a true music lover and producer
wizard from Austria, who is in the game for more than a decade. After release
contributions to Various Artists EP's on comfortzone, One step back ahead and sama
recordings (sama001, samadigi001) Laminat aka Kobermann steps up with his first ever
solo EP showcasing his unique desire to fuse body and soul into its preternatural
harmony, layer after layer after layer.
A1 Grand Central
The opener of Laminat's first ever artist EP seduces with delicate athmospheres, etheral
pad sounds and crispy drums, which were recorded seperatly on a 4 track Tascam
tapedeck. All field recordings for this track were done in New York - at Grand Central
Station, on the way to Conny Island and directly at the seashore at Conny Island.
A2 Windy Backyard
As the horizon darkens, human souls realize that they are not only dominated by
machines, but also by nature. In this tape-saturated, organic live jam every element is
carefully mixed and harmonically balanced: MFB 522 Drums, Microkorg XL and selected
samples are accompanied by field-recordings of hurricane sirens in Chicago.
A3 Eaves Gutter Drip
This moody little ambient piece with beautiful string sounds is based on vocals which
were recorded by the artist itself on a drive from Brooklyn to the airport. It marks the
transition to the B side by Laminat's second alter ego 'Kobermann'.
B1 Emphasis Chorus
With slighly distorted kick drums and gently arranged claps laid down on a mysterious
synth tapestry, Korg's ER 1 Drummachine is dominating this edgy track. A palette of
strange NASA sounds is giving this track its special deep space vibe. Surely you have
recognized the heavily treated voice samples of somebody speaking about her TV set.
B2 Blood Red Sunrise Behind My Back
Once again the ER-1 drum machine is in the focus of this laid back afterhours jam
session recorded directly on tape. The deconstructed vocal samples, where a well
respected american composer and theorist talks about his personal approach to sound
and space, award this track a certain psychedelic feeling. One for the deep moments.
B3 Cubbyhole
A table lamp was connected to the same circuit as the audio equipment. Consequenting
background noises enrich this outro piece with a dark and haunting atmosphere.
Feedback:
Dynamodyse (One step back ahead, GER)
'Drowning! Very grown up and adult tracks. Timeless classics from now on.
Windy Backyard + Grand Central are my faves. Respect. 5/5'
Oliver Haferbauer (Live At Robert Johnson, GER)

good stuff man. my favorites are grand central, windy backyard & emphasis chorus.
love the drums, the drama & the claps. so uplifting, will play for sure all three!

Aaron Dilloway - Switches

Switches

12inchCEJ10
Cejero
24.11.2017

Improv hypnotist Aaron Dilloway induces a mind-bending session for Copenhagen's Cejero label with a steeply mesmerising suite of mechanical loops unspooling from an elusive axis. Where 'The Gag File', issued earlier this year on NYC's Dais, incorporated sickly pop elements, there's less of that frivolity here as he grinds down to a seasick and interminably funky sort of rhythmic noise.
In case you're new to Dilloway's oeuvre, he's essentially one of the North American noise scene's most distinguished operators. His track record of over 100 releases for almost as many labels connects everyone from his old band, Wolf Eyes, to Kevin Drumm and Robert Turman, defiantly going with and against the grain of American counterculture with a stomach for the most nauseating yet compelling sounds.
Switches is a strong demonstration of Dilloway at his most uncompromising and discomfiting.
Like a swim thru the bubbling belly acid of American culture, he pursues the original extremities of NON and Turman along his own parallel narrative, using subtly morphing repetition and abrasive attrition as tactics to seduce and beguile even the most hard-headed listeners.
The A-side yields a full spectrum of his style ranging from palpitating, palsied loops and tonal abrasion in Switch 2, to something like an American take on The Caretaker's current descent into oblivion with the wilting, elusive phrases buried in Switch 17, while Switch 15 resembles some kind of burnt-out doom dub.
Meanwhile the B-side catches Dilloway at his most obtuse/playful with the snagged loops of Switch 11/12, which, once you get over the urge to nudge the needle out of its rut, seeps in with a viscerally psychedelic effect for its cranky, lurching duration, before Switch 1 locks off something like DJ Screw or Indignant Senility, with half a bar of f*ck-knows-what loping into a brambly haze around its progressively melting axis...'

A cinematic album of icy techno, weighty bass and poignant melody. From plaintive keys and slow motion drums awash with melody to corrugated industrial drums that don't let up, this is a diverse album in both mood and texture. Moments of ambient celestial beauty exist next to breezy and summery grooves while skewed and sludgy acid sits next to serene underwater dub. Stewart's mission to step outside his usual self has resulted in another landmark electronic album. Killer release!!!

Spazio Disponibile
13.10.2017

Spazio Disponibile welcomes yet another new artist to their realm. This time the label welcomes producer Grand River for its 11th release, and one that marks something of a new direction where ambient and experimental music will sit next to more dance floor fare. It's a direction already hinted at with Marco Shuttles full album earlier this year, and is now realised once more by Aimee Portioli. She is a multi instrumentalist, soundtrack composer and known for her deep and atmospheric sound and debuts on Donato Dozzy and Neel's label with four lush ambient explorations. Across the course of the tracks, fizzing, grainy ambiance makes way for dark atmospheres, then brighter synths arrive late on to bring some light to the shadows. Elsewhere, undulating rhythms sway down low as muted keys and strings ripple in the distance. It makes for a cavernous world that keeps you in blissful suspense and overall this EP is a trip through a dark underground cavern with a spring day high up above. As well as this brilliantly cerebral EP, the future will also bring more Spazio label nights across the world starting in 2018.

Orange Milk has championed some of the wild electronics coming from Japan's underground, and now present Koeosaeme, aka Ryu Yoshikawa, who perfectly encapsulates this frenetic hybrid sound.

It's complex music that evolves with each listen without feeling overstuffed or unnecessarily burdened by too many notes - a difficult balance to achieve. The music is rhythmic and features tenuous footwork connections, but to call it dance or club music would be misleading, it's an exciting hybrid that's still finding a place in the world.

Over the last twenty five years Robin Rimbaud - Scanner has traversed the experimental terrain between sound, space and image, connecting a bewilderingly diverse array of genres - a partial list would include sound design, film scores, computer music, avant garde, contemporary composition, large-scale multimedia performances, product design, architecture, fashion design, rock music and jazz. Today he announces his first studio album since 2009, 'Fibolae', set for release on December 1st 2017 via the independent label run by Anna von Hausswolff, Pomperipossa Records.. With a catalogue busy with commissions, soundtracks and strange projects this is the first studio album since 2009's Rockets, 'Unto the Edge of Rockets' (Bine Music). In this time much has changed - he lost his entire family and left the comfort of a familiar city, London, to live in a former textile factory in the UK to re-invent his life. 'Fibolae' offers up a world that splinters between melancholia and penetrating energy. Combining digital technologies, software and live instrumentation it is both a rhetoric of mourning and a celebration of music to empower. Warm, organic, sensual, passionate and frequently angry, it's an album that radiates with possibilities. As to the meaning of the title, 'Fibolae' There is none. It was a word that appeared to Scanner in a dream, at a time of great challenges in his life. The fact that his unconscious mind could conjure up such inventions that offer no history and context was appealing and yet it was suggestive, playful and open.

INC. ROUTE 94 REMIX

Consistently unearthing a hotbed of new talent, Hot Creations next release is Back To The Music from DJ and producer Sooney. The release features two original tracks and a stellar remix from one of the biggest names in dance music, Route 94.
Title track Back To The Music is an exhilarating record shaped through melodic synths and keys alongside a sharp bassline. Route 94 strips back his remix to the bare groove. While the chugging beats of Afraid Of The Dark bring the release to an accomplished close.
London based Sooney fell in love with house, hardcore & jungle in the early 90's. In 2015 he set up his own label, Take Control Records, gaining support from the likes of Shadow Child, Jamie Jones and Gorgon City to name a few. Since being discovered by the Hot Creations family, Sooney's sights are firmly set on big things for 2017.
Fellow UK artist Route 94 shot into the limelight in 2012 with chart success and has since gone on to appear on labels including Virgin, Defected and Crosstown Rebels, and work with major names like Katy B and Jess Glynne.

26.01.2018

Mellow Waves, Cornelius' first album in over 11 years will be available in a limited deluxe edition pop-up gatefold vinyl (including phenakistoscope animation insert), standard package on 180g, CD and cassette format on January 26, 2018. The album, released July 21, 2017, was previously a digital only release. Pre-orders for these formats are available now.

Cornelius announced eight North American tour dates for March 2018, including shows in Mexico City for the NRMAL Festival, New York's Irving Plaza, the Carnegie Music Hall at Pittsburgh's Andy Warhol Museum, and LA's Fonda Theater.

Filmed live at his record release shows at Tokyo's Liquid Room, Helix / Spiral' captures the Cornelius live experience, with its Kraftwerk-esque roboticism and immersive visuals meticulously synchronized with the performance from The Cornelius Group.

For the uninitiated, Cornelius is the brainchild of Japanese multi-instrumentalist Keigo Oyamada. A performing musician since his teens, Oyamada created his creative alter-ego (the name is an homage to the Planet of the Apes), in the early 1990s from the ashes of his previous project, Flipper's Guitar.

With the 1997 release of Fantasma, Cornelius gained international recognition for his cut and paste style reminiscent of American counterparts Beck and The Beastie Boys and was released internationally by Matador Records. Being called a "modern day Brian Wilson" for his orchestral-style arrangements and production techniques, Cornelius subsequently became one of the most sought after producer/remixers in the world, working with a wide range of artists including Blur, Beck, Bloc Party, MGMT, and James Brown.

With 2002's Point, Cornelius' music took a quantum shift, going from sampling found sounds' to looping organic elements and creating lush soundscapes. Using water drops as the rhythmic backbone of Drop' on his vocoder-infused cover of Brazil', the album dazed and amazed fans and set the path for the next phase of his career.

2007 brought this philosophy to an even higher level with the release of Sensuous. Cornelius' live shows are known around the world for spectacular visuals (all perfectly synchronized to the performance), custom lighting that doesn't simply augment the performance, but becomes another instrument within it, and a full band of equally talented and diverse players.

The companion piece to the album Sensurround + B Sides, earned the nomination for Best Surround Sound Album' at the 2009 GRAMMY Awards.

The summer of 2016 saw the release of Fantasma Remastered, on Lefse Records. The package, a 2LP reissue of his classic album, also included 4 additional outtakes and earned Pitchfork's Best New Reissue'.

Cornelius has recorded music for Edgar Wright's Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, scored the anime mega-film Ghost in the Shell Arise, performed as the backbone of Yoko Ono's reformed Plastic Ono Band, played the Hollywood Bowl with Yellow Magic Orchestra, and co-wrote and produced the Japanese artist salyu x salyu.

Dust Witch - Mirage

Debut release from Dust Witch. A 5-piece synth outfit that recall the heyday of 70's prog rock. Their sound is tight, complex and densely layered - recalling Goblin at their most fluid, and Yes during their most wigged out moments. What sets them apart from their current synth wave contemporaries is not only their exceptional song writing skills but the addition of live drums & guitar which gives their dense sound an extra kick, and a very human element missing from most current synth acts operating today. This 7-Inch single, pressed on 140g vinyl features artwork by Daniel Danger.

Flying Saucer Attack - In Search Of Spaces

First ever reissue and first time on vinyl for this unique Flying Saucer Attack live album, expanded with additional material and a new side four mix from Jim O'Rourke. Produced in collaboration with Dave Pearce / FSA and Bruce Russell (compiler of the original CD release for his Corpus Hermeticum label), featuring new artwork by Bruce Russell as well.

While rightly known for the folk-influenced songs and spacey instrumentals of their proper albums, the briefly active live version of FSA unexpectedly delivered a blistering wave of electric sound. Recorded at various shows in 1994, In Search Of Spaces heaves with long passages of feedback guitar racket, broken up by sections of surging rock music. The live band focused almost exclusively on visceral, trebly guitar noise—which, while always a key element in their sound, was greeted by audiences with total mystification (and often disapproval). Following a few brief attempts to settle a lineup and play songs from their records, Dave Pearce / FSA abandoned live performance altogether, leaving behind this album (and the barely available P. A. Blues CDR) as the sole document of his in-person delivery.

Originally compiled and released in 1996, this reissue adds several minutes of music back to the original program that had been edited out by FSA for being too rock.' For side four, Jim O'Rourke revisited the original 1994 live tapes and has made a spooky and brooding new mix of music exclusive to this release.

Influenced primarily by synth electronic music and psychedelic mysticism, the Greek electronic composer is injecting new ideas into something in the ballpark of the unknown rarities from the underground cassette scene.
'Orfeo', his first album for Details Sound, offers a diverse range of original and magnetic output with a naive experimental heart.

Technimatic - Technimatic Remixed Ep

* The first Technimatic release since their breathtaking 'Better Perspective' sophomore album of last year, 'Technimatic Remixed' is a collection of some their greatest work to date brought kicking into 2017 by some of Pete & Andy's favourite producers of now. Break, Alix Perez, Fracture, Was A Be and LSB all feature giving their own personal takes on some already seminal Technimatic moments.

* We have never had a remix project of our work so this is a really fun one for us. You kind of get scared but excited at the same time as you wait for each track to come back! But all the guys on this project are guys we admire and respect greatly so we knew they would deliver the goods. 'Bristol' was just made for Break to do, we'd actually earmarked that one a couple of years ago for him. LSB is just on fire with his work at the moment, Alix we've loved since before we joined Shogun, Fracture was our only choice on 'Trigger Warning' as he's just the don for that sound and we've been really impressed by new Shogun family members Was A Be.

* Also we felt we'd like to contribute something to the project so we picked one of our favourite tunes with Lucy Kitchen and gave it a little sprucing up. The 'Night Vision VIP' has been doing damage in our sets for months now so we felt it rounded the EP off nicely. We hope you guys enjoy it as much as we have been!' Technimatic

01.12.2017

The debut release by The Slowest Lift (Sophie Cooper and Julian Bradley) presents a new chapter in the long-running tradition of radical English music duos. Originally formed via a commission from the Supernormal Festival, Cooper (an accomplished solo performer and collaborator) and Bradley (from frequent VHF delinquents Vibracathedral Orchestra) play a kind of gentle post-industrial psychedelia, with Cooper's lovely vocals floating over a collage of live and electronic performances. The songs are a blend of straightforward performance and eccentric bricolage, with rude electronic interjections sitting comfortably alongside delicate guitar and keyboard melodies. Zoviet France-like low-fi atmospherics compete with Cooper's voice for air on tracks like Crystal Fracture' and Hi From The Skyline Swim,' while the duo's surprising cover of Duran Duran's The Chauffeur' deep on side two sneaks in perfectly, a mini-pop music drama reimagined as pure hallucination.

Soul Deep Recordings and Blade are pleased to present the Blackbird EP. The EP features 2 richly crafted rollers that will rock the dance floor. The title track, "Blackbird", has received support from LTJ Bukem and many other top deejays around the world. The song starts off with a heavy amen break and light background atmospherics. At each turn, the break seems to get heavier as layers are added to the mix. When the bassline drops, the groove is undeniable, and will have your head nodding in approval. The song chugs along and builds to a crescendo with it's epic pads and tasteful atmospherics. "Bella l'amour", is the second offering, and it shows a different side to Blade's diverse productions. The track begins with a light break, airy efx, and chiming keys, that set the backdrop for this tight production. At the drop, the drums fill in nicely and the warm 808 bassline punch through the mix. Overall, Blade delivers big on this release, and will surely satisfy his fans with this slice of D&B heaven.

Bruno Spoerri & Reto Weber - The Sound Of The Ufos

We Release Whatever The Fuck We Want Records is honored to announce the reissue of extraterrestrial cult classic THE SOUND OF THE UFOs, a collaborative effort between Swiss jazz and electronic music icon Bruno Spoerri and innovative drummer extraordinaire Reto Weber, available on vinyl for the first time since 1978, housed in a 350g jacket and packed with all new liner notes.

Recorded live in Zurich in March 1978, THE SOUND OF THE UFOs finds Bruno & Reto improvising with a vast array of classic and customized synths and percussions from all corners of the globe (and the galaxy!). It's cosmic free jazz in audio gear heaven with a heavy dose of ambient, krautrock, primitive proto-techno vibes, and experimental space disco with a musique concrète mentality - anything's possible when a jazzman and a percussionist obsessed with finding new sounds collide and explore uncharted sonic territories! This groundbreaking gem is the ideal companion piece to Bruno Spoerri's highly coveted VOICE OF TAURUS LP.

Still very active recording, touring and collaborating (Julian Sartorius, Franz Treichler of Young Gods, Marco Repetto of Grauzone, Roger Girod...), Bruno Spoerri is an award-winning mythical figure of Swiss music, whose career started in the 1950s and covers jazz, electronic music, film and tv work, and everything in between. Improvisational maestro and synthesizer mega-connoisseur, Mr. Spoerri has influenced an entire generation of producers and musicians - hell, even Jay-Z sampled him!

Having previously released records on the legendary D.C Recordings & Wall Of Sound imprints, we here at Death Waltz Originals are thrilled to be releasing this brand new LP. You will have heard Deadly Avenger even if you don't own any of his records - Over the last few years he has supplied music for trailers such as Ant Man, The Avengers & John Wick. He has created a neon-drenched nightmare of a record that can stand shoulder to shoulder alongside current synth wave heavyweights such as Le Matos, Carpenter Brut, Perturbator or composers such as Steve Moore and Cliff Martinez. It's an assured mix of speaker crunching synth bangers and more contemplative tracks.

29.01.2018

The band project Drums Off Chaos was one of the central and on-going projects of the recently deceased drummer Jaki Liebezeit (who is normally associated first and foremost with the Cologne-based band CAN). In the early 1980s he had initiated an - at first - loose collective of drummers, who created a rhythmic concept on the basis of simple, strictly binding codes that enabled expansive improvisations.

Over the years the ensemble became smaller and refined its collaboration marked by repetitive patterns and their variation. You have to play monotonous,' a membr of the audience had already told Liebezeit in the 1960s. He took this to heart and there was hardly any other formation where he could bring this concept to life as regularly and with as much inspiration as in Drums Off Chaos.
During a development spanning more than three decades, this extra-ordinary band, which never saw itself as such, made numerous recordings but rarely any releases. However, in the last few months of his life Jaki Liebezeit, with colleagues Reiner Linke, Maf Retter and Manos Tsangaris, earmarked some tracks for imminent release on vinyl and CD - on different compilations. Liebezeit's death is all the more reason to go ahead with this plan.

"A CELEBRATION OF 5 YEARS INDIGO ÆRA"

Over the course of the past five years, Amsterdam based label Indigo Aera has evolved in to one of the most trustworthy and respected contemporary Detroit techno labels around.

Apart from new music that's mostly analog based and highly energetic, head honchos Maarten Mittendorff en Jasper Wolff decent to the vaults of early day, soul-searching techno regularly, digging up forgotten gems to re-issue them with modern quality standards. Esteemed artists like Stephen Brown, Skudge, Steve Rachmad, Antigone, Louis Haiman and Kirk DeGiorgio all contributed to Indigo Aera, and there's more to come.

The Lost Archives Special consists of unreleased tracks from absolute legends, to music that has never been released in a physical form before, to fresh compositions of techno's most talented contemporary artists.

Secret Pyramid - Two Shadows Collide

Amir Abbey follows up Secret Pyramid's last album, Movements of Night (Students of Decay), with Two Shadows Collide, an ever deeper exploration of the sounds between consciousness and transcendence. Carefully built and fluidly performed, the record deepens Abbey's relationship with modern composition and abstract songcraft. Songs have an exploratory immensity fueled by cosmic awe, basking in a dreamlike presence. Abbey's works move slow, building substantive monolithic odes of awe which shift and morph into fully fleshed paeans of possibility.

"Possession" yields inspiration from György Ligeti's string works combined with field recordings, while the Badalamenti-esque "In Wind" provides a cinematic aural homage to the Pacific Northwest. You can hear the singular Ondes Martenot float and glide through several tracks, including the hazy and beautiful title track. Each song's main inspiration comes from the notion behind the album title, the intersection and attraction of forces and worlds, clashing of sounds, and the dualities within our lives. That such a meditative release is built upon conflict is ironic, but therein lies the perfect way to listen.

Superorganism - Something For Your M.i.n.d.

Was dabei zusammenkam, war der aufregende Track - Something For Your M.I.N.D. . Im klassischen DIY-Verfahren fertiggestellt, ließ man ihn kurzerhand auf die Außenwelt los. Es folgte die Doppel-AA Single - It's All Good und - Nobody Cares . Und schon bald spielten ihre frisch getauften Fans Frank Ocean und Vampire Weekends Ezra Koenig Superorganism Songs in ihren Radio Sendungen und der Deal mit Domino Records war unterschrieben.

Coco Bryce - The Ayakashi Ep

7th Storey Projects is pleased to welcome back the Myor Massiv head honcho for his 3rd release on our label.

Earlier this year, Coco Bryce travelled to Tokyo and Osaka for a small series of gigs. Thoroughly impressed by his experiences there, upon returning home, he immediately took to crafting a slew of jungle and hip hop tracks, heavily influenced by everything he'd seen, heard, felt and tasted in the Land of the Rising Sun.

The ep kicks off with its title track, Ayakashi. Dark, fierce and mysterious like the mythical creatures it was named after, it builds up slowly, utilizing a combination of chopped up Japanese percussion, haunting flutes and Hot Pants breaks, before switching to full on Amen assault mode halfway through the tune.

Shinjuku is one of Tokyo's most well known wards, and also the place where Coco found the records from which the samples were sourced to construct this number: a turntablism beat/scratch album, and a compilation of traditional work songs, this particular one originating from the gold mines of the island of Hokkaido.

On the B1 track, Kaguya, he takes a more gentle approach: sweet, yet melancholic, like the Miyazaki movie of the same name.

The ep is rounded off with Hotaru, which borrows from an entirely different source of inspiration, namely DJ Krush's abstract take on boom bap hip hop. Shards of mid-90s Mo Wax are blended with anime samples, making for a solid two and a half minutes of Golden Era-esque head nodding.

Fushara aka Thushara Goonewardene is a London based electronic musician working with breakbeats, samples and synthesiser. A constant theme for his music is urban decay. From the late 90's Fushara has been involved with the London scene as a raver, DJ, and Producer. He has produced experimental work for labels such as Pineconemoonshine, MJAZZ and more recently Scientific Recordings. In 2015 he set up an imprint Lone Foundation to showcase experimental bass music collaborating with DAAT and others. More recently he has made a return to work with breakbeat collaborating with Infest for one of his tracks on his debut on Criterion Records and has signed to Flex Recordings for a forthcoming EP.

Here he makes his bow on 7th Storey Projects with two amen-driven monsters - The A side features 'Ascension', an epic roller with industrial atmospherics and haunting vocal snatches.

This is backed up with 'Nerve' on the B Side, a nine and a half minute militant amenistic assault that hits hard, just the way we like it!

We're delighted to welcome Fushara to our roster of talent, we are sure you will be hearing plenty more from the man going forward!

The duo Ligovskoi, between Bruxelles and Paris, has come up with five new pieces, bringing their craft to a whole new level. Their condensed and moving soundscapes are now heightened by narrative compositions and constructions. (Cross and Lethe for instance, will drag you down several routes...) Their hybrid sound-design and detuned, infra-thin arpeggios now also integrate free improvisations and breathtaking, melodramatic moments. (take a shot at Aures for example) Enjoy

14.11.2017

Route 8 back to his techno project Q3A dropping some heavy grooving tracks! A year after his last release on Delsin, the talented Hungarian producer is back with four more cuts of techno and electro excellence, club tracks that ooze atmosphere and intriguing details. The Nameless Place kicks off with a tense and tangled techno track that is urgent and slick as is hurries on through damp underground caverns. The Very End of You completely flips the script and is a slow motion bit of dub. With only sparse kick drums, the focus is on the cavernous pads that smear in huge arcs as watery droplets and heavenly chords add to the brain soothing effect. Temple of Retribution is back to techno, this time with loose, jumbled percussion and clipped drums cantering along at high speed. Again it's roomy stuff with no real edge, the Deva Station drops into house mode, wriggling drums and distant vocal cries finished off with some classic Detroit keys. It's a high tech, soulful track that closes out a diverse and devastating EP.

Ra Toth And The Brigantes - Acid Sea

At the third New Interplanetary Melodies' astral journey stopover, it was mandatory to catch an Italian project deeply inspired by the Sun Ra visionary realm, expressing contemporary trials of hybridising jazz with artful electronica. So Ra Toth and The Brigantes' Orchestra landed on vinyl grooves for the label, after having previously appeared on the likes of Mathematics and Berceuse Heroique. Behind the sound, we find the elusive and unpredictable genius of the well-respected producer Marcello Napoletano. NIM received the distorted sound signal from Napoletano taken over by the Egyptian deity born from the lips of Ra. Who knows if those noises were coming from a parallel dimension, outer space, or some otherworldly sphere... Submerged in dark bottom waters, the stormy waves of the 'Acid Sea' are made of convulsive afro-flavoured percussion with sharp synths looming out like the ivories of some freakish abyssal creatures.

Introducing AIR LQD unsheathing his debut EP following a notable appearance last year with a seven inches on the lowkey (but nonetheless excellent) Perfekt Funktion, Ltd. label out of Brussels. Forthright, razor sharp techno tracks running at a neck-breaking pace that will leave you breathless, Remain Neutral is all about the urgency and the purposely crafted indiscipline meant to make you twist your body in every directions. Spoke throughout the feral scratches of overworked drum machines and the whiff distorted vocal samples taken from a tape found by chance, France via Belgium's Mehdi Kernachi carries on with his exploration of the danger notion in electronic music — borrowing as much to the slower, noisier industrial music of yesteryear as the speeded basement hysteria of rave culture — applying the scorched-earth policy throughout his tracks. There is a term to summarize this, cutting off your nose to spite your face.

ATOMNATION
12.05.2015

Atomnation co-founder Pascal Terstappen presents 'For', his fourth longplayer as Applescal to date and a redefinition of his coveted sound. If you've been following this producer's output over the years, you're likely to be aware of his meticulously built tracks and remixes in which
playful percussion structures and otherworldly melodies fuse into compositions that float somewhere between the sofa and the dancefloor. Applescal's previous album 'Dreaming In Key' found excellent support in the press (Pitchfork 7,6, Xlr8r 7,5, Drowned In Sound 7) and got played
by DJ's such as Gilles Peterson, Laurent Garnier & Daniel Avery.
'For's' content, the new album, still transmits that organic and careless sound of Applescal's earlier work, but this time round things seem to
be dipping more frequently into deeper and darker waters. Many will recognize Applescal's signature sound in tracks such as 'Like You Do', 'Matter' and 'Overseas', with dreamscape synthesizers and sparkling grooves being the main ingredients, but 'For' also sees the producer drawing from a new sound palette, an even more mature one perhaps, bravely redefining his sound while staying true to the roots of his earlier work.

Celestial Being - Vapour Rises

The second vinyl only release from this impeccable label presents textures of true deep house with 'Vapour Rises' and the mysterious 'Beings Beyond Comprehension', a spoken word 'Dedication to The Light' from a leading authority in the Sound Healing Field, a call for us to find the higher purpose, particularly relevant in these changing times and finally 'Chant of Antara (meaning 'Within' in Sanskrit) a blissful ambient piece created by layers of throat singing and ethereal effects.
Vapour Rises is beautiful, melancholy, meditative, deep house following on from the classics like Fingers Inc who created the genre so many moons ago. The Celestial Vocoder vocal version notes our 'Searching for meaning, Looking into little light boxes (our phones, computer screens and TVs)'
Celestial Being talking about Vapour Rises:
Vapour Rises was composed in Chicago. I was looking out of a hotel window on the fourth floor, looking out over the roof tops. It was very cold outside and as I remember almost in Black and White, probably twilight time. I saw people as dark shapes against the snow, and the odd car..but that just kind of went on and I was transfixed watching the smoke above the buildings going up into the sky. I felt in a very deep medative state making the track, as I considered Frankie Knuckles recent passing, in this city where the Underground Culture of Unity and House was his legacy. I had met him and spent time with him. He was a sweet, sincere and very positive human being. I considered my own death, of our short time here on this earth, how necessary it is for us to be genuine, honest, authentic, true. Watching the vapours rising from the buildings was like watch seeing souls rising up to divinity.
'So many lonely souls in the city as the snow settles, everybody looking into little light boxes, as the system powers down, So many golden souls in the city as the snow settles..looking into little light boxes trying to find their way back home...'

Dictaphone - Apr 70

Dictaphone

Apr 70

12inchDEN288LP
Denovali Records
05.05.2018

Finally a sign of life and a new full length by the German trio after five years of silence. Already formed in the late nineties in Berlin, Dictaphone was born by Brussels-bred multi-instrumentalist Oliver Doerell. In 2000 Oliver Doerell found a partner in Berlin's Roger Döring, who shares Doerell's love for the Brussels-based music of the eighties. In the following years the duo and several guest musicians (e.g. Stephan Wöhrmann (SWOD) , Malka Spigel (Minimal Compact) & more) released the critically highly acclaimed "m.= addiction" (2002), the "Nacht" EP (2004) and "Vertigo II" (2006) via the City Centres Offices label of Thaddeus Herrmann and Shlom Sviri (Boomkat, Modern Love). In 2009 the violin player Alex Stolze joined the band. During their two decades of existence Dictaphone played shows in more than 20 countries with festival appearances at Mutek, Transmediale, Unsound, Benicassim & more. Their latest release "Poems from a rooftop" from 2012 came as a very limited edition through the Berlin-based boutique label Sonic Pieces. The new album "APR 70" is the first Denovali release of Dictaphone. The label will also reissue the past repertoire of the trio.

The new album features the three Dictaphone core members Oliver Doerell (electronics, bass, guitar), Roger Döring (saxophone, clarinet) and Alex Stolze (violins) and has been composed and produced over the course of three years. While the vibraphone and the more easily distinguishable guitar among other things gave a certain presence to the tracks on the previous album "Poems from a rooftop", "APR 70" leaves the listener with a much more muffled impression. It feels as if each of the uncountable layers of which the intricate arrangements are made has just the right amount of contrast to be visible, but there are only very few moments where one of the elements noticeably dominates the others. The cool jazz bits, analogue flourishes, hypnotic rhythms and refined electronics feed a dark serpent-like creature meandering in ever-changing morphologies through shapeless landscapes. "APR 70" is the perfect cocoon for the hazy days and the serene nights. A new incarnation, maybe even definition, of purity. Dictaphone never make music for the sake of it, they always want to create something which was missing before. And they did.

Emo Kid - Gqomtera Ep

Emo Kid

Gqomtera Ep

12inchGQOM006
Gqom Oh!
13.11.2017

Durban's 23 year-old producer Emo Kid has announced he is to release eight-track debut EP, 'Gqomtera', through Gqom Oh! on September 22nd. Although titled 'Gqomtera', which Emo Kid explains is a slang term he and others use for the music, the record actually explores Sgubhu — another strain of South African dance music that shares many stylistic parallels with Gqom, though is always written with a 4x4 beat. Like DJ Lag before him, an artist widely considered the king of Gqom, Emo Kid is also considered a pioneer in Durban; 'Some people call me the Sgubhu king, but I'm just happy they're enjoying my music', he says. Based in Inanda, in the Etafuleni area township in Durban, Emo Kid's house looks out over an area called Isandlwana — the spot where the Zulu army famously defeated the British Army in the Battle Of Isandlwana in 1879. It is from this backdrop that he has written the majority of his music over the last few years, including new record 'Gqomtera'. At eight tracks long, 'Gqomtera' provides a comprehensive overview of the Sgubhu sound, with the aim of taking the listener on their own 'Durban Journey'. 'I wanted to show the uniqueness of my own style which I would describe as more musical', Emo Kid explains, 'you can feel the music when you listen but it still hits hard with that Gqom flavour.' That Gqom flavour, powered by hard, fast, uncompromising drums, provides a solid core from which everything else functions. Bright, shimmering trance synths feature on 'Futuristic Gqom', while on 'Enkwarini' — 'another word for a party or fantastic get together' — vocalist Fawell skips over light, playful Sgubhu rhythms. There's also space for harder, deeper cuts like 'Ground Shaker', cut with a twinkling melody line, the charging pace and power of 'Insimbi Yase Dubane' and the anthemic 'Asbambeki' featuring local crew TLC Fam, translating loosely to being unstoppable; 'It means you can't catch us basically', Emo Kid says proudly, 'On the dance floor, you can't touch us, we're on fire.' Capturing the raw, street sounds of his city, Emo Kid is the latest Durban artist to take the music global and with 'Gqomtera', put Sgubhu firmly on the map.

The troupe completely engulfs and immerses the listener from every angle in a pounding electric bog of music and ephemera.

Jacob Kirkegaard & Niels Lyhne Lokkegaard - Descending

Descending is a composition consisting of two movements for room resonance, triangles, shakers and horns. The recording was made in August 2015, performed by the Aarhus Jazz Orchestra. Descending is Løkkegaard's and Kirkegaard's first collaboration.

The sound artists and composers Jacob Kirkegaard and Niels Lyhne Løkkegaard are both renowned for their ability to convert sound into a form with the character of an artwork and a bodily dimension that can be experienced by more than the ears alone. In his art, Jacob Kirkegaard uses acoustic phenomena that are usually either overheard or inaudible to the human ear. Using a range of sensors and recording methods, the material unfolds in compositions and spatial, visual and sound works. Niels Lyhne Løkkegaard's art focuses on the multiplication of sound, extending it beyond its usual boundaries to re-emerge in new forms, as well as on the creation of imaginary musical works that the listener has to envisage before their inner ear.

Jacob Kirkegaard (b. 1975) graduated from the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne in 2006. His sound works are published by Touch (UK), Posh Isolation (DK), Von Archives (F) and Important Records (USA). Kirkegaard's works have been presented at a wide range of renowned exhibition platforms, festivals and conferences worldwide, including MoMA and Issue Project Room & The Stone in NYC, KW & Transmediale in Berlin, Mori Art Museum and Aichi Triennale in Japan, as well as Louisiana Museum of Modern Art and ARoS Aarhus Art Museum in Denmark.

Niels Lyhne Løkkegaard (b. 1979) studied at Denmark's Rhythmic Music Conservatory and the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts' School of Architecture. Johann Johannsson - Ibm 1401 A User's Manual

FIRST EVER VINYL PRESSING OF JOHANN'S 2006 ALBUM - DELUXE GATEFOLD SLEEVE, 2 x CLEAR LP - TWO BONUS TRACKS, DOWNLOAD CODE INCLUDED

Never before pressed on vinyl, IBM 1401, A User's Manual, is one of Jóhann Jóhannsson's most loved works. Released in 2006, the decade since its release has seen Jóhann establish himself as one of the most important composers in the World today, most notably scoring movies such as Arrival, Sicario and The Theory of Everything.
Inspired by the work his father did in the sixties when chief maintenance engineer of one of Iceland's first computers, Jóhann originally wrote IBM 1401, A User's Manual to accompany a dance piece by long-standing collaborator and friend, Erna Ómarsdóttir. For this album release, he rewrote it for a sixty-piece string orchestra, with a new final movement (built around a poem by Dorothy Parker) and incorporating both electronics, and reel-to-reel recordings made by his father and friends in 1971 of an enormous IBM 1401 mainframe computer singing the hymn Ísland Ögrum Skorið by Sigvaldi Kaldalóns as it was being decommissioned.
The first ever pressing of IBM 1401, A User's Manual comes in a deluxe gatefold sleeve, having been reworked by Chris Bigg (v23) from his original design. Pressed on clear vinyl, two album tracks recorded in 2010 with the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra at the Rudolfinum, Dvorák Hall in Prague have also been added and are exclusive to this release.

Moon Zero - Relationships Between Inner & Outer Space

The first set of new Moon Zero cuts in two years, 'Relationships Between Inner & Outer Space' is a product of fevered displacement that nonetheless achieves a temple-like sense of calm, proportion and permanence. Scheduled for release in October 2017 on Denovali, the record is carpeted in traces of the settings that producer and composer Tim Garratt has found himself since we last heard from him, from Reykjavík to Leipzig with anything from a Dictaphone up to a studio to hand - it bears sounds from a vast number of different spaces, instruments and machines across its four colossal tracks. Paying attention to these rich patterns, they move and wind you in, producing a deep and rewarding catatonia.

While touring the first LP 'Moon Zero' (2015) Garratt lost his studio and flat, a relationship came to an end and he briefly moved back to his parents' in the Midlands. An emotional parabola familiar to anyone experiencing an economically-adrift, prolonged adolescence, it was heavy fuel for the melancholic sound world of Moon Zero. You can make out the origins of the record at the bottom of its multi-story wedges of sound, through dancing, duelling blocks of frequencies. And you can follow (somewhat obliquely, filling in the gaps) the inflections of different processes that these textures and melodic ideas have undergone, as Garratt moves them from machine to machine, speed to speed, room to room, through different combinations of effects. This churning celestial chaos, built painstakingly from detuned instruments, mono synths, field recordings and tape loops, is then meticulously ordered in the editing room.

The first side is in two tracks, each divided into two sweeping musical gestures, ordered by tone into a sequence of light-dark-dark-light and ending in a crescendo pulse with a 'Loveless'-like shimmer. The flip is also in two long tracks, each one a continuously-building, monolithic tranche. The change at the opening of the third number, 'Erwood Araf' is signalled with the entry of an unthreaded melody that repeats and gradually distorts while other caverns of sound open underneath and around it. Then, again on the halfway point, the idea dissolves and a minor key swell aches into frame before breeze block low end is deployed. One of Moon Zero's go-to sounds, an alloy of bowed cymbal, tape delay and who-knows, invokes the sound and disembodying feel of a train pulling into a station, if that moment could be elasticated and dragged far out. Emitting a chrome-sheen continental modernity, it's probably the emotional centre of the record and calls to mind Kraftwerk's 'Trans-Europe Express' and 'Radio-Activity' albums. Towards its end, on the nine-minute mark, in rides a soaring melody that surely has its roots in Garratt's Eastern European travels.

Each expansion of the Moon Zero universe has felt like a logical progression along lines set before, becoming ever more inventively structured and ambitious with its sonic palette but never straying from its nucleus of menacing, meditative drone. Fresh from playing Ruhrtriennale Festival alongside Actress, Demdike Stare and Ricardo Donoso amongst others, 'Relationships between Inner and Outer Space' is due to be released in October and Moon Zero will be announcing further shows in due course. This latest installation is the most profoundly affecting Moon Zero work to date, an unparalleled piece of infrasonic, atmospheric manipulation.

People Like Us / Porest - Optimized!

Third volume of our irregular split series. This time pairing two artists at the top of their collagist game, People Like Us and Porest.

Two A sides of parallel radio broadcasts, for beautiful and not so beautiful days.

The Parallel Broadcasts presents Porest's recordings from the covert sector of his archives. Culled from shortwave and FM broadcasts, these selections were intercepted via prepared radio - finely tuned to receive what is known in certain circles as parallel broadcasting. Content explores the trauma of emerging global consciousness, acute cultural antipology and the urgent placement of democratic music today. Recorded on location in Jan/Feb, 2016. Featuring contributions from Paul Staufenbiel and Michael Darr.

All On A Beautiful Day was recorded in Spring 2016 by People Like Us for "Optimized!" - a week-long online a/v radio station programmed by Vicki Bennett, housed on WFMU.org which experimented with ideas of what radio might be in the world of high speed internet broadcasting. The content included 26 new a/v artist works, including both this and Porest's Parallel Broadcasts, where people were invited to respond to the word "optimized".

11.10.2016

Rote return to BleeD for a second EP release on the label, the first of 2016. Formed of Daniel Avery and label-head Volte-Face as an 'open-ended' side project, the duo tend to adost an esoteric and experimental approach to techno, expressed in this case with 5 diverse original tracks. As solo artists, Volte-Face has appeared on Svreca's Semantica imprint as well as releasing 3 solo EPs on BleeD thus far. Daniel Avery is a high-profile fixture on club and festival bills, and is soon to be found contributing to the legendary DJ Kicks series.

'EP2' builds on the sound of the duo's debut EP, which was well supported in the underground, and remixed by experimental techno doyens DJ Nobu and Svreca. Featuring two 'heads down eyes closed' club tracks, 'Rote 3 and Rote 4, two ambient excursions, 'Lifted' and 'Sun At Night' (the latter of which would be equally at home on a psychedelic rock LP!) and a lilting melodic closer, 'End Of The Sky'.

Sontag Shogun & Moskitoo - The Things We Let Fall Apart / The Thunderswan

Home Normal's final release in 2017 will be with New York's Sontag Shogun, alongside one of our favourite Japanese artists, moskitoo. The 7" vinyl is being printed by Sontag Shogun in the States and will be exclusively available through Home Normal, as well as through Sontag Shogun on tour.

Arvo Pärt once noted quite simply that 'music says what I need to say'. If this were ever true of a release on Home Normal, this would surely be the perfect example. In its short (just over ten minute) life, 'The Things We Let Fall Apart / Thunderswan' is imbued with a tender and affecting minimalism, a delicately soulful simplicity that encompasses so much despite its brevity. Truly great music appears effortless, as if it has always existed on some other plain far from earthly eyes, only appearing in focus suddenly for all to see (or hear) as plates move into a certain alignment. For a fleeting moment it stays before drifting away again to some other place, and all that we are left with is the lingering memories of something so pure we once knew. That's exactly how this simple other-worldly work by Sontag Shogun and moskitoo makes me feel when I listen to it, and for a long time after.

Here's a little bit of background behind the recordings by Jeremy from Sontag Shogun:

Both of these tracks were recorded after returning from Japan in 2015, when we met Sanae after our Tokyo gig with minamo. There was never a set plan in place to collaborate, but being mutual fans of each other's music there was always a spark, waiting to be ignited. Having been a huge fan of Moskitoo's albums on 12k, we had in mind to try to create some material that felt more "live", rather than the glitchy, digital sonic world her solo work lives inside. Despite how pretty and evocative Moskitoo's music is, we wanted this to feel like a living room salon, by lamplight, damp leaves pressing against the windows. This is pretty barebones Sontag, and with the addition of Moskitoo's soft, whispering voice in the mix, the result feels just as contemplative and wistful as ever.

"The Things We Let Fall Apart" actually used to be called "Unfinished Idea 021," and came out of a few recording and improvisational sessions that resulted in handfuls of untitled, unfinished miniatures. The drone was created from a looped and isolated fragment of a chord played on the grand piano. An initial version of the piece had a glitching beat created from chopped, grain synthesized bits of radio static, but we dropped it after sending the arhythmic version to Moskitoo and hearing the subtle, delicate vocal footprints she left along the track. It felt right to leave it more open-ended, slightly on the empty side, and more contemplative. So with the change in pace, and sentiment, came the change in title.

As for "The Thunderswan," this piece is about a girl who doesn't belong in the town she's from. She wanders through tall reeds at night to a dark lake where she finds families of ducks and geese. She knows she doesn't belong here either, but they take her in, give her swan's wings, and teach her to fly. Eventually one night, she takes flight and leaves the lake, soaring over it, over the lights of the town, looking down on these places that mean nothing to her, and she gets stuck in a thunderstorm. She battles through some rains and wind, and decides to elevate herself to above the clouds, she breaks through the thick clouds, following the ever-brightening glow of the moon to find clear night skies. Below her are the tops of clouds, above her only stars, she's more alone here and now than she's ever been and starts to doubt that she'll ever find her true home. Just then, in an instant, from behind her and circling all around her, come 200 other boys and girls, flapping their giant swan's wings and gliding through the night air together. She's made it. She's home at last.

Various - Stollwerck Single

Emotional Rescue presents a limited edition 7 with two songs that while not featuring on the Stollwerck Sampler reissue (ERC026), make a unique piece together as they are focused around the legendary drumming of Jaki Liebezeit. Coming out of the European Free Jazz movement of the mid-60s, by the end of decade Liebezeit had moved towards psychedelic realms of rock and alongside Irmin Schmidt, Holger Czukay, Michael Karoli and David C. Johnson formed the pioneering 'Krautrock' band, Can, in 1968. His unique half-man, half machine metronome style was integral to the band's development and success throughout the following decade, a centre-piece to their sound as they became acclaimed international stars. With the slow hiatus that engulfed Can in 1980 each member went on to work on new projects. For Leibezeit, this saw him team up with guitarist Dominik Von Senger to form Phantom Band. Releasing just 3 albums, each are highly regarded, encompassing an extension of latter-day Can's funky-jazz fusion with metronomic rock and experimenting with African rhythms. Out of this came the Von Senger led Dunkelziffer (ERC007/8/9), all centered around the warehouse art spaces of Stollwerck. When the recordings for a special Sampler album bought together various artists and bands based in the space it was logical that Liebezeit would be heavily involved. The Sampler's LP collage of post-punk, krautrock, dub and avant-garde music saw many unusual collaborations and for this limited 7 we present two such pieces, including the first ever recording of his drum ensemble, Drums Off Chaos. First, Phantom Band team up with the unknown Linear Johnson & The Protons. A mixture of krautrock meets 50s USA rock'n'roll delivery makes for a wondefully odd combination, but the interplay between drums and Von Senger's guitar marry with R&B vocals to jovial perfection. On the flip, here then are the beginnings of Liebezeit's Drums Off Chaos. Some 5 minutes of pure drumming explosions, this unique recording was not followed up for a further 20 years and is therefore, a special document in a comprehensive music career.

Frankee - Clap Your Hands / Love & Peace

Frankee has stood as one of the most hotly tipped producers on Ram's roster, catapulting himself onto the scene with aggressive and divisive dancefloor slayers. However, having two decades within the game already notched on his musical bed post, the producer has cemented himself within the genre's trophy cabinet. And he's returning after a brief hiatus with two brand new pieces of sonic artwork to take you into Summer's final months, a farewell to the festival stages his anthems have been played from.

Receiving support from Ram's head honcho Andy C, who's pedestalled his sound since it was first discovered by the revered veteran, and radio tastemakers alike, Frankee has a firm history behind him with previous releases. His next single 'Clap Your Hands' and 'Love & Peace' present two immensely different tracks which epitomize why Frankee's music has garnered such a backing, whilst exposing the polar opposites of his sound. Whether you were looking for the pounding, bassline driven layers of 'Drop it Low' or the more ethereal, heart-felt vibe of his Loadstar 'Away' remix, this single channels both sides of the coin.

Your first introduction to Frankee's return is via 'Clap Your Hands', once again platforming the sub-driven records he's famed for. Building up into a cascading drop whilst grinding LFO provides the steps, it's difficult not to be pulled in by its relentless beats and quick-fire drum patterns. With metallic vocal samples adding encouragement between each segment, Frankee is back and carrying the weaponry which made him so dangerous behind the decks.

On the reverse, 'Love and Peace' adds another dimension, not only proving Frankee's production capabilities, but also a contrast in musical attitudes. Natural yet still synthetic, it brings together shaking percussion and female vocals in a way that curtails both the light and dark shades of his skillset. A blissful liquid roller that carries itself from start to finish, it features nostalgic breaks whilst keeping a mechanical continuity.

This next output proves Frankee is back... And just like before, he's demonstrating why he's become a quintessential part in people's libraries.

Joker - The Mainframe

Joker

The Mainframe

12inchKAP015LP
Kapsize
16.04.2015

* Mixmag Album of the Month (Feb 2015)
* FACT magazine - '20 albums coming out in 2015 that we actually give a shit about'.

* The Mainframe is the bold new vision from Joker, a conceptual piece produced as a cohesive body of work as opposed to a collection of standalone DJ weapons.

* The sophomore LP from the man who spawned the electronic music sub-genre purple, which is now galvanised internationally with artists such as Flume, Ganz and Djemba Djemba all drawing inspiration from productions of the 26 year old Producer / DJ .

* The Mainframe is a listening album as much as a dancefloor album it and hints at what a Joker produced mainstream artist album would sound like with moments like 'Wise Enough' feat Zak Abel, 'Lucy' feat Sam Frank and 'Love' which features, winner of Dutch X Factor, Rochelle.

* Since releasing his last LP The Vision, Joker real name Liam Mclean has released a slew of productions to set the scene for this release including the Masato Nakamura inspired 'Joker Drive', Swindle collaboration 'Let It Be Known' and perhaps the biggest insight as to what to expect from this album, 'Digital Mainframe'
The Mainframe is designed to play like a digital dream with each track bleeding into the next pulling the listener deeper into the imagination of the Bristolian futurist in similar fashion that Robin Wright is pulled into an acid trip world in the Ari Folman flick, The Congress.

* 'I want everybody to listen to it once from start to finish, in their whip, in their yard, in their studio, going for a run whatever... cos that's how I intended to bring people into my world. After that pull it apart however you want, put specific tracks in your playlist that suit your mood, your lifestyle cool but this is my A/W 15 collection, take it in as a whole and you'll be able to get more from the individual pieces' - Joker

* In a world of increased immediacy the legitimacy of the album is being questioned in any domain that dinosaurs would consider mainstream or popular culture. Inversely, the internet and cheap travel is allowing underground communities and their ethics to penetrate and shape the mainstream more rapidly than ever before. Whilst the LP is still a valid format in the underground, The Mainframe provides a multicolour glimpse into the mind of Joker and future of modern pop music.

Last Life - Nootka Ep

After 2 EP's for Loxy's Cylon Recordings, Italian artist Last Life debuts on Samurai Music with 4 reduced reconstructions of contemporary Drum & Bass. The core of the Last Life sound revolves around spirited, stepping half time kick drums with shards of historic breakbeat treatments peppering the rhythm. An inherent bounce sets apart Last Life productions from many of his contemporaries. Those drawn to the sound of Clarity and Homemade Weapons will find the Nootka EP straddling a middle ground between their styles, but testament to this EP's shining identity is both these artists favouring tunes off the Nootka EP heavily in recent sets. Patricia - Autotomy

Autotomy is a collaboration between Belgium's Sleeperhold Publications, Brooklyn-based musician Patricia (Max Ravitz) and the Dutch artist Louis Reith. This output is the result of a long process of contemplation, discussion and elimination which gave us a record that encapsulates both Patricia's sense for hardware production and dance floor rawness. Describing this release is not a simple task. So we'll just tell it like it is: it's a record that slows down and, in this process, reveals its mystery. Referencing the title of this release, wunderkind Max Ravitz seems to provide the listener with the possibility of transformation, a way to shed part of your own being. When running though the tracks, one discovers the essentials of Patricia's sound architecture: the presence of lightness, of longing, mixed with the ability to deny it in the next instant. Sonically, there's a careful balance in these productions that belies their fundamental function as body music. It's ambient yet danceable, approachable despite it's often deconstructed layout, and ultimately warm and inviting. The entire record is made using Ravitz collection of hardware, which gives it its uncompromising texture. The presence of kicks, beats and soundscapes does not originate from a clean digital source but from a physical action, an excerpt of movement, a tick of the human hand. It is floating versus rhythmical movement, visceral versus strict. But above all, it is alive. The artwork used for Autotomy's sleeve design and the etching on the B-side was provided by Louis Reith. (All three tracks feature on the record's A-side.) Just as Patricia, Reith tries to resist technology in favour of physical and craft-based media, though the contrast between digital and analog is always present.Dutch artist Louis Reith produces works through a variety of different media, ranging from collages to wood sculptures, to paper objects and ink on paper works, always keeping an interest in simple abstract shapes and their combination. With an interest in materiality Louis resurrects found footage and creates new landscapes of shape and color, celebrating the human hand at work. Deliberate compositions form an illegible visual language where hidden words are portrayed as abstract sculptures.Reith also co-runs Jordskred, an independent publishing company worth checking out.Ravitz certainly is unstoppable and releases in a relentless and uncompromising fashion.Besides many collaborative projects with an array of artists (released under monikers such as Masks, Pulpo, Inhalants, DSR.MR...) he's released music on labels like Opal Tapes, L.I.E.S., Russian Torrent Versions, Ghostly Intl.,... 2017 has been quite a year for him so far. He not only founded his own imprint, Active Cultures, but also released a triple LP. Ghostly Intl. describes the release as a 'kaleidoscopic, a multi-faceted techno trip' and we couldn't agree more.

26.05.2015

* Shining the spotlight bright on newest signing, Brazilian-born Urbandawn with his Hospital debut single, 'Neon Nights'. Giving a glimpse of the infectious bass lines and euphonic notes that are inevitably on their way from this talented producer.
* From a calm opening to a fanfare of musical spirals, 'Neon Nights' explores through a range of tempos and melodic sequences to create a track perfectly fitted for festival fantasia. Going hand in hand is rightly titled, B-side 'Spectrum'. Combining a glimmering succession of chords with swirling synthesized sounds that inspire a vision of light and colour - happily harmonising with the signature Hospital sound.

* Urbandawn has previously impressed with his polished production on several Hospital and Med School compilations, as well as releasing a successful string of tracks on Fokuz and Bad Taste Recordings.

* With a musical career already spanning across fourteen years it's fair to say Urbandawn has more than earned his place on the Hospital roster; not to mention his classically trained background and audio engineering training thrown in the mix. 'Neon Nights' sets the precedent for the glowing future that's sure to come for Urbandawn.

01.10.2014

LTD 200 copies!
"Devianza" is a new way of conceiving electronic music, a sort of 'sonic socialism' which involves the sharing of music projects developed by Blackwater Label. I Droni A Torvajianica" is a melodic techno track with hints of acid. It was written and designed in a summer day at Torvajanica Seaside between two lovers who shared passion for Drone music. The funny title sounds like the guys were imagine drones in this place and tell each other: 'Ehi look at that drone passing! Cool Ah!'. "La Torre Del Greco" is the continuation of both technical and emotional of the first track. This was written and designed in honor of a destination, a physical place called Torre Del Greco near Naples. But it is also a reminder of something far away in time, nostalgic and old, as well as the piece in its sound expression. Mio Nonno Era Un Cavallo" is the piece that closes the EP in a transversal way. A chasm sound rich and vibrant with a deliberately enclosed in a bubble, feeling appeal to the use of ketamine to which we refer. The pun in fact refers to the use thereof as an anesthetic for horses and more widely used as a drug.

Homemade Weapons - Negative Space Remixed

Negative Space is certainly essential: it's drum & bass at its purest, most potent form.' - Andrew Ryce / Resident Advisor 4.1 review

The debut Homemade Weapons LP 'Negative Space' is still fresh in peoples playlists after a unanimously acclaimed release, and has gone on to be used as a benchmark for D&B LP's that exist on the edges of the music's periphery. Combining function and form with equal emphasis, Negative Space is an LP full of tracks that DJ's play in clubs as opposed to being largely relegated to online mixes. To follow on from the LP, we selected 3 Samurai artists to rebuild their favourite tracks from Negative Space and have combined this with a Tidal Track VIP from Homemade Weapons made initially for his DJ sets. Ancestral Voices, The Untouchables, and Sam KDC all turn in unique interpretations.

12.05.2017

Combining motoric beats with rapturous melodies, North East London Boy / Girl duo Deeds make a fervent, synth heavy mould of electronic music. Influences range from electronic film scores, Ambient and Synthwave music, through to Post-Punk and House. Debut release on London label Snap, Crackle & Pop takes off with title track Disorder encapsulating all of these elements through the filter of a contemporary electronic landscape. Video Dreams goes from heavenly synth melodies into kicked out guitar jams, while the frenetic and brooding tones of Unknown sit more firmly on dance floor territory. On the b-side Swedish electronic favourite The Filed deliver a trippy ambient take with acid influences whilst San Francisco's Dark Entries and Honey Soundsystem collaborator Bezier explores other worlds in a ten minute voyage through futuristic and almost euphoric synth landscapes.

Martianman - 003

Keeping true to the yin/yang approach of his 12's, martianMan gives you a glimpse into his ever-expanding universe with the release of Vol. 3. The impenetrable pads of Ion Storm strike the dark and uplifting in equal amounts. Disembodied chants and deep bass tremors give way to a thunderous Amen break, while hallucinatory synths swirl throughout the madness, just beyond reach. An intergalactic barnstormer in signature style.Tracy's Grunt, meanwhile, is built around a simple jazz loop, dripping with melancholy, backed in stark contrast to a loose, clattering funk kit. In ital comfort quickly becomes a beautiful descent into madness, where steady rhythms decay into warped electronics and bad-trip samples. A vividly painted lucid dream

Rabit - Les Fleurs Du Mal

Rabit

Les Fleurs Du Mal

12inchHALC016

10.11.2017

Les Fleurs Dul Mal is the absorbingly grotesque sophomore album by pioneering artist, DJ and label owner Eric C. Burton aka Rabit, who, along with regular collaborators such as Chino Amobi (NON) and Elysia Crampton, is in part responsible for defining the contemporary conflux of avant club, folk and noise musics.

On his follow-up to Communion (Tri Angle, 2015), Rabit indulges his fascinations with psychedelic themes in an ambitious attempt to locate his sense of self amid increasingly chaotic environments. The result is a personal milestone for the artist, a riveting tableaux of hyper sensual texture, colour and melody forming a densely detailed and layered prism to best peer upon the abyss between his reality, your own, and our shared consensual hallucination.

In aesthetic and intent, Rabit boldly embraces the vacuum left by the late, great Coil, realising a genre-agnostic consolidation of folk, new age, drone and noise tropes transcended thru acousmatic processing and modular synthesis, in this case fittingly provided by erstwhile Coil member Drew McDowell. In the process he potentially triangulates Les Fleurs Dul Mal with records by fellow Coil fiends, Elysia Crampton's Demon City and Chino Amobi's Paradiso, who all essentially project bold, new, independent worlds unto themselves which find common links in Coil's canon.

Unfolding in 12 movements like some future classical tragedy, Rabit gestures his sounds with a remarkable freedom of rhythmic meter and freehand strokes that belies its meticulous construction below the surface. Cecilia's vocals and the sharp strings of opener Possessed suggest the spirit of Baudelaire's text heard at street level, while the dissonant stress of Bleached World - a secret weapon 'til now - expresses a beautifully bittersweet anguish, and the recursive curdle of Ontological Graffiti catches in the throat with uncannily emotive effect. The Whole Bag locates his firmest dembow rhythms, but buried under collapsing sidereal pressure, and Cecelia's return in closer Elevation perfectly emulates something like a new age tristesse, which defines the record's humanity in the face of such uncompromising synthetic sensations.

The Remote Viewer - Us. In Happier Times

Once encountered, the exquisite, low key charms of Craig Tattersall, Andrew Johnson and Nicola Hodgkinson's band, The Remote Viewer, leave an impression that lingers long after their records stop playing. A decade since departing with I Can't Believe It's Not Better [2008], Other ideas recalls their lower case sound as you've never heard it, presenting ten previously unreleased songs drawn from minidiscs 'before the last functioning
MD player in Prestwich gave up the ghost', and pressed to vinyl.
Perhaps the greatest champions of drizzly, Lancastrian mood music ever known, The Remote Viewer formed as a splinter group from Leeds-based Hood with their eponymous 1999 debut, taking the opportunity to pursue a fragile, downbeat strain of electronic songcraft and experimentation that quietly held steady against the grain of much electronica during that era. Over the course of four albums and four EPs, they addressed ambient pop music's barest essentials with a succinct blend of miserablism and refined, adroit technicality that they could safely call their own, and more or less sprang a whole scene of copycats in their wake.Us. In happier times is The Remote Viewer's typically ambiguous title for this collection; ten grainy and richly evocative pieces of haptic scrabble and jaded gestures as inviting as a warm brew and a 2-bar heater on a p*ss wet night. It's the sound of glacial english valleys after-hours, finding them animating ambient embers and wilting pop hooks with clipped, Teutonic glitches and subby pulses. The results form a curious and emotionally intelligent adjunct to then-contemporary dance or pop musics, a sound best received on punctured sofas in small coffee shops and living rooms, one which will forever remind us of wet mornings back at the turn of the century.
With the flickering fizz of Tonight it feels like Spain we hear all three members in intimate dialogue, opening a session that variously takes in SND-like garage minimalism and what sounds like Muslimgauze fever-dreaming in 2-step on Complaining of feeling unwell, or a pre-echo of autonomic D&B in the Arovane-esque nerve pinch of The Sound of old Helmshore, whereas This old face dates me is like a prickly Arran to the suave, cashmere gentility of To Rococo Rot, and the crackling group harmonies of lullaby closer When it was over forms possibly the loveliest finale to any record you'll find this year.

Thelem - Haunted Harmonics

Fresh off his stunning Petrichor / Grainform single, Thelem returns to Artikal, delivering his most substantial release thus far. The
'Haunted Harmonics' EP splits itself between the grime-influenced 'Haunted Harmonics' and cyber-badman riddim of 'Shottaz' while
stepping up the tempo to 170bpm with 'Forces of Nature''s agenda of agitation and the clinically paranoid 'Obsessions'.
Haunted Harmonics unfolds like a demented Eski beat with squashed rudebwoy synths grafted to the rhythmic frame as a neon
melodic line gets refracted into various shapes and permutations. A hip-hop indebted bass line carries all the micro-level details, till it
all dissipates into a sound-collage of field recordings from various places, but most prominently a pre-recorded telephone message.
The Babylon crumbling war drums of Forces of Nature open with snippets of a Rastafari portent regarding the sinners of the world
before augmented with tastefully spliced amen breaks and dark-side swipes.Blooming from delicately creeping pads and punctuated by rudebwoy threats, Shottaz explodes into a bio-mechanical steppa geared with hyper-surreal sound design, creating a constantly shifting mechanism of soundsystem destruction. Trapist percussion keeps things clipped and serious.
Obsessions is a heads down roller possessing the shark-eyed mission to add a little bit of paranoia to the dance. Scuttling percussion flick and glimmer over reinforced moaning caustic synths and hard as nails swerving subs. Featured on Rinse FM playlist and DJ support from J:Kenzo, Youngsta, Icicle, Jubei, Amit, OM Unit & N-Type.

Coil - Another Brown World / Baby Food

Sub Rosa presents two rare tracks by Coil, originally commitioned by Sub Rosa in the late 80s / early 90s and now finally released on vinyl!

"Another Brown World" (12:09 min) was written by John Balance and Peter Christopherson, produced and mixed by Coil, and recorded by Danny Hyde at Threshold House, London in the Summer of 1989. The vocals were recorded at the Animist Monastery situated at the Summit of Mount Popa in Pagan, Burma.

"Baby Food" (12:32 min) was written and performed by Coil: Danny Hyde (essentials) Peter Christopherson (fundamentals), and John Balance (vibrant rays of spiritual psychosis). This track is the first to utilize the recording process known as "Sidereal Sound", a continuation and advancement of the deep listening theories as demonstrated on the album Love's Secret Domain (1991). Recorded in a storm in London in the summer of 1993.

These two pieces were commissioned by Sub Rosa for these two specific projects: Myths 4 - Sinople Twilight In Çatal Hüyük (1989) and Chaos In Expansion (1993)

Coil - Astral Disaster Sessions Un/finished Musics Lp

These rare recordings were recorded as part of the legendary prescription label
album series in the late 1990's that resulted in the album "Astral Disaster".
Coil were invited to record at sun dial's studios beneath the London Bridge Hop Exchange. This studio was originally know as Samurai studios that was originally built and owned by Iron Maiden. The premises in Victorian times was an old debtors prison which had three levels underground, and still had the original chains, manacles and wrought iron doors from the old prison. This caught the attention of John Balance and was very keen to record there.

At Gary Ramon's invitation, Coil spent a number of days recording at the studio during Halloween 1998 and they developed a number of tracks some of which resulted in the "Astral Disaster" album.
For various reasons, some of the unissued material and mixes released on this album were omitted from the original Astral Disaster album, and so now is the opportunity to listen to the "Astral Disaster" sessions.

The album includes previously unissued mixes, and the rare version of "I Don't Want To Be The One" that was only included on the very rare 1999 promo CD only Prescription sampler and the 14 minute track "Cosmic disaster" that was the original working title of the album.

Taken from the master tapes and remastered by Denis Blackham.
