A groovalicious track that amazes the listener; a real sensitive club tune. The remix made by GuyDee is the right answer to the original mix, a tasty manner to recreate the same vibes. Not to mention the remix of "Another Journey" Formix feat. Lello Di Franco aka L D F made by The Legendary 1979 Orchestra or the hypnotic pads of the British artist OOFT! Music! "Run" remix. "Just because a records got a groove doesn't mean it's in the groove". "Run" album does both.

Just ahead of a landmark 50th EP release, Catz 'N Dogz's Pets Recordings turn to Johan Cederberg aka HNNY for a special five track release that very much invites us deep into the off kilter world of the revered Swedish producer. Before now HNNY - preferably pronounced 'honey' - has won himself many fans with curious and quirky releases on labels including Studio Barnhus, Let's Play House and Local Talk. Producing house but with a charming sense of melody, a great ear for a sample and an irresistible sense of groove, he is a firm DJ and dancer favourite all across Europe, and for good reason. Opening the EP is 'Happy Happy House House', a lazy, beachy cut awash with sun-kissed melody and trip hop grooves. Swaying gently to and fro, it's an immediately soothing track before 'Brasilian Sound' is as Latin as you would expect from the title: it's a percussive, summery, atmospheric jaunt though up-tempo and feel-good house that's littered with distant whistles, the sound of kids playing in the park and a variety of loveable instruments. 'Fresh Laundry' then drops into a much slower and more purposeful groove - stoned drums and a distant bassline unfold lazily before big wind instruments begin tooting up top. It's human, imperfect and full of keys that imbue it with the joys of spring. On the flip, 'Fruktstund' is another adult lullaby with colourful, cartoony instrumentals, angular grooves and plenty of organic textures, whilst closer 'Yogalates' is much the same with its big xylophones, joyous piano chords, rubbery kicks and generally disarming sense of playfulness. Spring is just round the corner but it feels so much closer with these enchanting new cuts from HNNY.

* Following a string of successful releases Krakota is back with a massive 14-track collection. 'Strange System' marries heavy distortion with razor-sharp clarity, crossing and colouring the black and white lines of drum & bass with his versatile style and slick production. His debut album stands tall and proud shouting his individual sound. Never underestimate Krakota, he's full of surprises!

* In 'Colour Of The Past' Krakota simultaneously tugs at the heartstrings and hits hard in the face with vocals brought by new finding Karina Ramage. The French-Scottish-English songwriter was a surprise find by label boss Chris Goss as he discovered her busking on London's South Bank. Another clear highlight is his partnering with our second label boss for 'Powder Coated' - the perfect mix of London Elektricity soul and Krakota power.
'Half Life' is a reminder back to the massive dancefloor damage caused by 'Ice Hands', 'Ghosts' and 'Xylo' last year. Its gritty split of siren calls and deep bouncing bass hits in all the right places. Krakota's musical edge shows in 'Elastic' with funk flare and horns hailing. 'North Winds' and 'Turn of Fate' blend arcade style synth work with crackles of white noise.

* A consistently brilliant producer, Krakota's carved out his own style over the past few years getting his name noticed on dancefloors around the UK and Europe. He's received support from the likes of BBC Radio 1's Friction and well remembered for his tear out live mix on BBC Radio 1Xtra's Soundclash in 2015. His solitary stance in the drum & bass world has been making waves and that's sure to continue with his outstanding debut album 'Strange System'.

The second release on Hail Blk, with deeper grittier atmospheres from new artist Llimbs. The four tracks presented here pace steadily with heavy beats immersed in dark industrial noise echoes and repetitive oscillating sounds with moments of brooding introspection.

The comparable Piero Umiliani (under his mysterious Moggi moniker) weighs in with another AWOL library gem of 1979. Maestro goes resolutely left field and off track with an intra-personal exploration of the disturbed inner psyche within the human condition. Distressed electro beacons are unleashed as de-tuned predatory Carpenter-esque synth patterns come to the fore (check Clavinet Suspence for primal audio blastings to a lost unnamed 80's slasher movie). With the electric eighties buzzing on the horizon, Umiliani was quick to capitalise on this cultural shift utilising his Moog synthesisers to tap in to changing musical zeitgeists via cost cutting experimentations for TV, adverts and documentaries. Followers of the esoteric and strange can finally dig in here, lavishly created reissue featuring original artwork, master tape Laquer cutting and Umiliani's autograph notes on the project. Viva l'uomo!

A bold, eclectic fusion of hip hop and electronica, MUZI's hard-hitting sonic approach remains deeply inspired by his upbringing, a tale of striving through adversity in the South African township of Empangeni, north east of Durban: 'Violence definitely played a major role in my life. Things happen in the townships like mine. There isn't any community watch or anything remotely close to something like that. That's why I had to stay indoors most of the time and that gave me time to work on my music. As for the social healing bit, I hope it does one day. Privileged kids grow up being told they can be and do anything they want. We never had that, my family has always been in survival mode and I hope that one day, my achievements inspire other kids with similar backgrounds.

The mid 70s presented mature, fertile grounding for maestro Piero Uimiliani's Sound Workshop Studio, exploring side ways explorations in to gravitational soundscapes and beyond.... Released in 1975 via his prolific Omicron imprint, Genti e Paesi Del Mondo ('Peoples and Countries of the World') is a return to the ethnic flavours so beloved of Umiliani's zeitgeist. Umiliani turns anti-clockwise launching a left field mental audio pad to uncharted territories. On Genti e Paesi Del Mondo sparse, eerie electronic confections spar in unison alongside moody transgressional vibes. Umiliani's mysterious pathways unlock a trinket box echoing the Germanic stylings of Wolperath's Plank Studio and Herzog era Popol Vuh. This loving reissue recreates the original artwork, master tape Laquer cutting and Umiliani's autograph notes on the project.

* The time has come for SCAR to broaden its horizons. As a production duo Survival & Script initially made a name for themselves by supplying rugged dancefloor workouts but there is a much larger story to tell here and with The Orkyd Project album this story will be told.* Production collaborations have been kept to an absolute minimum aside from vocal features; Naomi Pryor is the ever present voice of the album with further contributions from Eleanor Higgins and Ray Uptown.* The influences for The Orkyd Project shine a further light on the story; from Bill Withers to Massive Attack via Eric B and Rakim.* When initial conversations took place between Goldie and SCAR regarding the album Goldie gave the guys full license to create whatever they wanted and what we have been given is a melting pot of 2016 London music. Soul exists beside screw face.* It's important to note that Drum n bass hasn't been abandoned by any means, the hall marks of SCAR are ever present and correct- the blue print has just been expanded upon.

The debut of 21-yr-old Illinoisan Will Justice is a 50 min long psychedelic journey that pairs cosmic textures & moods w/ warm dancefloor sensibility. "Gaia Variants is about finding the right sounds to suit a mood and expanding on that."

'Letters To Home' is the brand new album from Jon Phonics. Since last appearing on First Word with his 'White Neckle' EP in 2014, the London-born/Glasgow-based producer has spent the intervening period becoming one of the UK's most versatile contemporary rap producers, as well as enhancing his reputation as a club DJ to be reckoned with (check his riotous Boiler Room set from 2015 for evidence). Alongside this, he's busied himself running the critically acclaimed Astral Black imprint / clubnight, home to some of the country's most exciting talent in Hip-Hop & Grime, releasing music from JD. Reid, Drae Da Skimask, Dressin Red and Jaisu.

On 'Letters To Home', his first full-length since 2010, Phonics further explores what has become his signature brand of deep textured field recordings, sample chops and rolling bass lines. Across 16 tracks - the album, much like his DJ sets, ducks and weaves through moods & BPMs whilst maintaining an obsessive focus that is uniquely his own. With 'Exotic Wall Furnishings' & 'P_O_V' Phonics nods to the sleazy 80s synth-pop influence of his early production sound, whilst the slo-mo trap of 'Nagasaki' & 'Gut Splash' (a collab with Astral Black label mates DJ Milktray & Dressin Red, commissioned by Fact TV) and the club destroying 140bpm Bollywood flip 'Seeta' hint at where this producer's head has been at recently. Elsewhere, the dynamic instrumental Hip Hop of 'Sunshine Emoji' & 'Black Russian' are fine examples of his effortless MPC work.

Though largely instrumental Phonics tastefully peppers the offering with a handful of vocal contributions - High Focus' Dirty Dike rides high on the typically futuristic 'Live From The Hypocrite Fest', whilst Blah Records head honcho & Cult Mountain leader Lee Scott channels Nate Dogg to surprising effect on the lo-slung 'PPLPERSON' (a video for which will be dropping soon courtesty of NTS Radio). Phonics teams up with his UK stalwart M9 for the firs time since his acclaimed 2011 single Strange Fruit on the deceptively melodic 'Cheatin'. Most surprisingly though, Astral Black producer Dressin' Red makes the move from behind the boards to in front of the mic for the first time on record with the twisted synth-pop of 'P_O_V'.

The EP originally released on raster-noton in 2001, it never been released on vinyl till now. and finally available again briefly on Japanese label flau's raum series. New pressing now available on clear vinyl. Open Close Open, the title of robert lippok's release, can obviously be seen in the context of daily maxims: instructions you can find on packagings, household appliances, stereo systems and other operating instructions. Neverthelesss, Open Close Open also stands in connection with making things like space and perception accessible to yourself - and therefore with the opening of a fictious memory. on this release, analogue field recordings, digital remains and cultural fragments are condensed into an accoustic space. the call of crows and door slamming noises meet looped sound pieces from a minidisc recorder and samples from a mahler symphony.

Welcome to the second release on a new record label, Real Balearic. We are record label based in Ibiza and London. We were set up by the team who brought you the world famous "Real Ibiza" series of compilations and released the very first "Cafe Del Mar" compilation. We are passionate about music and in particular music with a thread that runs to the musical sounds of Ibiza and the Balearic islands. Whilst we may "chill out" with the best of them it is not what we are all about. Balearic techno, Balearic disco, Ambient soundscapes, Classical interludes, Sun-drenched chords, Sunset grooves, Moon-washed rhythms... and just about anything that grabs us...

Following on from our first release from Ibiza Balearic legend Jose Padilla we follow things up with a second release also brimming with sunshine and optimism. Here we harness the Balearic spirit with a brand new track from the San Francisco based producer Sorcerer (also known as Dan Judd). His release becomes our first vinyl release and the first opportunity to see our brand new vinyl house bag artwork.

The original of "Video Magic" has the trademark shimmering guitar lines and chords, bags of lazy-afternoon groove and that all important summertime swing.

First up on remix duties is downtempo and chillout DJ, tastemaker, broadcaster and overlord Chris Coco. He nudges the groove up ever so slightly with his beach front evening re-rub. Perfect for sunset moments.

With a 5 track single it is nice to touch all bases and Slovenian based Ichisan covers the leftfield and slightly quirky version with his remix. His remix moves along with his usual mix of ponderous bass guitar and analogue synth effects. South American Daniel Solar cranks the pace a touch more with his beach disco evening time excursion. As a finale and one final crank on the energy index, the Italian based duo Irregular Disco Workers deliver their peak time disco house stomper. Sweet.

In the past four years Amy Becker has established herself as a leading force in London's underground circuit, known for pushing the movement forward as visionary selector, plus party-starter and energetic radio presenter. After the success of her 'TRX' compilation last May that was accompanied by a print photo zine and featured the likes of D Double E, Benton and Nightwave, Amy is pleased to reveal a new innovative project; 'RMX'. Out on vinyl on June 10th, RMX is a self-released remix EP for which Amy has recruited Logos, Scratcha DVA, YGG and Deamonds to flip four original tracks on their head. Completing the EP is collaborative artwork from esteemed photographer Vicky Grout and designer DK, as well as additional stand out visuals in the form of two huge videos. One of Boxed London's head honchos Logos sets the standard for 'RMX,' putting a fresh twist on Apple's classic UK Funky anthem De Siegalizer as the first track on the A-Side. Layered with jungle drums and cut with a grimey edge, Logos turns the Apple original into a dancefloor weapon. Track two sees the emerging and established collide, as YGG and Sir Spyro join forces for a 2016 take on Spyro's Side By Side. Young guns YGG (PK, Saint and Lyrical Strally) add their trademark fiery and catchy bars to the top of this well known grime instrumental, proving why they are a London grime crew to watch this year. Moving into more leftfield club music territory, the B-side includes Hyperdub's Scratcha DVA taking Bala Club's Kamixlo for a Hi:Emotions ride, morphing his reggaeton roller Mata Lo into a dark, soul-shattering hit that DVA dares any DJ to press play on in the club. For the final RMX contribution, Alex Deamonds steps up to re-work Hot In Dis MF - a hard-hitting certified Unknown To The Unknown banger by DJ Haus. By stripping back the track and chopping up the vocal while keeping the bassline recognisable, Deamonds does not disappoint and stays true to the lo-fi edgy production style that he is quickly becoming renowned for.

This record represents an important milestone in the development and progression of musique concrète, marking a crossroad for not only the genre itself but also in the paths of its originator Pierre Schaeffer and another of the genre's most important and respected protagonists Pierre Henry.

Undoubtedly one of the most influential experimental and electroacoustic musicians, Pierre Schaeffer is also credited as being the father of the theory of musique concrète as well as later coining the term itself.

Having found a job in 1936 at Radiodiffusion Française (later Radiodiffusion-Télévision Française or RTF) as an engineer, Schaeffer developed a newly found interest in music and with the blessing of his superiors made the most of his access to the Radiodiffusion Française studios, utilising his abilities as an engineer to experiment with sound whilst collaborating with musicians and composers that passed through the station's hallowed doors. In 1942 Schaeffer and influential theatre director, producer and actor Jacques Copeau founded the Studio d'Essai (renamed Club d'Essai in 1946) as part of RTF in order to experiment with radiophonic techniques. Drawing on the works of French filmmaker, critic and novelist Jean Epstein, Schaeffer would occupy his time and his mind with the manner in which sound recordings revealed what was hidden in the act of basic acoustic listening' and in 1948 formally set about his research in ernest - the results of which were presented as a series of studies known as 'Cinq études de bruits' ('Five Studies Of Noises') during a concert in Paris.

As part of his early research Schaeffer had previously collaborated with a young classically trained composer by the name of Pierre Henry. By adding a third prong to this sonic fork in the shape of sound engineer Jacques Poullin, Schaeffer was able to complete a powerhouse, which he renamed the Groupe de Musique Concrete, that would push his experiments further than he could have imagined. The studio went from strength to strength, attracting composers such as Karlheinz Stockhausen and Edgard Varèse to collaborate and in that same year Schaeffer and Henry produced and premiered what is considered to be the first opera concrète, Orphèe 51.

As Schaeffer's notoriety grew he found himself increasingly called away from the studio during which time he would hand the keys to over to his colleagues - Pierre Henry wasted no time in pursuing projects closer to his own heart, working with experimental filmmakers and choreographers like Maurice Béjart (the two would later collaborate with Michel Colombier on the cult classic 'Les Jerks Électroniques De La Messe Pour Le Temps Présent Et Musiques Concrètes Pour Maurice Béjart'). In 1957, Schaeffer returned unhappy with the direction the studio / group had taken and tabled an idea to revitalise both their approach as well as personnel. As a result, Henry and several other key members left the group the following year leaving Schaeffer to lay the foundations in 1958 for a new collective called Groupe de Recherches Musicales - one of a number of theoretical and experimental groups overseen by Schaeffer's Service de la Reserche at RTF - and set about recruiting new members including Iannis Xenakis, Henri Sauguet, Luc Ferrari and Michel Philippot, as well as ushering in a new steady stream of eager musicians eager to study within what had rapidly become (and still is) a national institution - including a young Jean Michel Jarre.

Featuring the full versions of these seminal early works (abridged versions of which had previously appeared across two 7' singles on Disques BAM), the recordings presented here are the first fruits of this new alliance and served to lay the bedrock for the future of the Groupe de Recherches Musicales research which would later count the likes of Ivo Malec, Philippe Carson, Romuald Vandelle, Edgardo Canton and François Bayle (who went on to coin the term Acousmatic Music) amongst its members and cement its place in the annals of experimental, electroacoustic and early electronic music history.

Presented here are the unabridged versions of these seminal works beautifully remastered with the original liners notes, translated here for the first time.

One of Belgium's brightest musical exports in recent history, Netsky is set to release his eagerly awaited third album. '3' is a perfectly executed balancing act between Netsky's roots in dance music and drum & bass, and blissfully happy, hook laden, intelligent pop, house, funk and electronica, littered with some incredible collaborations and special guests, including Emeli Sandé, Chromeo, Saint Raymond, Jauz and more.

* The journey leading up to '3' began last summer with the release of festival favourite, 'Rio'. The Brazilian inspired track was a hit with specialist and daytime radio alike and was heard everywhere from underground raves, to muddy festival fields, to the soundtrack for BBC 1's coverage of London's New Year's Eve fireworks display. It will also be used throughout this year as the soundtrack to Netsky's role as official artist ambassador for the Belgian Olympics Team whom he will join in Rio De Janeiro during their Rio2016 campaign.

* To celebrate the announcement of the album, Netsky spoke to Zane Lowe exclusively on Beats 1, played through some of the album, and also gave him the exclusive first play of brand new track 'Higher', a collaboration with US bass megastar and OWSLA mainstay Jauz. When fans pre-order the album, they will receive 4 tracks instantly; singles 'Rio' and 'Work It Out' Feat. Digital Farm Animals, along with brand new tracks 'Higher' and 'Forget What You Look Like' Feat. Lowell - which was premiered by The Fader.

* Another huge moment on the album, TNT' features electro funk heroes Chromeo, and allows Netsky to play with an entirely different style of top line altogether, further confirming the record's ability to fly high above the limitations of club culture and cement itself as a collection of music. 3 is energetic, brash, a reflection of its producer's discography, and yet something new entirely simultaneously.

The Vinyl Factory has teamed up with French label Zone for another rugged techno four tracker, this time from close associate and well established production talent Maelstrom.

Though his name suggests total chaos, Maelstrom's music belies intention, focus and precision. Often marked as 'exciting newcomer' to French techno, Maelstrom has actually been making music for over fifteen years. With a cryptic history of aliases and side projects, illegal raves thrown in warehouses and fields and basements, the artist has really come into his own under this moniker.

The 'Optics' EP showcases metallic techno, acid house, industrial noise and stark ambient sounds, forging smokey machine music for those with a penchant for post punk and a soft spot for the spikier end of the techno spectrum.

It's the year 2016 and David Hanke, widely recognized under his moniker Renegades Of Jazz, is back with his third full-on longplay effort entitled 'Moyo Wangu'. After his conceptual and darker approach to his last album 'Paradise Lost' released in 2015, we see Renegades Of Jazz explore the world of Afrofunk here, a world David Hanke is deeply linked to since he spent an influential part of his childhood in Arusha/Tanzania in the early 1980s .Due to being exposed to the sound of this East African metropolis throughout his early childhood days the love for any kind of African rhythm signatures and vibes has stuck to this day and is now reflected in the twelve tracks on the album 'Moyo Wangu' - a Swahili expression that translates as 'My heart' and perfectly describes where his heart is at.

Slovenian Drum & Bass stalwarts Telekinesis are to kick off 2015 with a new five-track EP on Blackout NL. Scheduled for release on March 8th, the duo - comprising of producers Smooth and Markoman - return to the label for the first time since impressive 2013 EP 'Judgement Day'.

Intro track 'Bias' - an unwavering onslaught of pounding bass - sets things up perfectly for title-track 'Fight Club', which delivers further punch with its hardbody drums and overpowering frequencies. Gutterfunk has become known for its open ended music policy, the phrase 'melting pot' is often over used but it perhaps is the most apt way of describing the label.

DJ Die and Addison Groove are both innovators as solo artists but as a pairing all rules really go out of the window. Drum machines co-exist with drum breaks, sub-cultures from Chicago to Sao Paulo are represented and refined through the Bristol eye and a new aesthetic is born, always dancefloor and never obvious.

Karen Gwyer and Beatrice Dillon join forces for a limited 12" release on Alien Jams. Both artists find themselves deeply ingrained in London's vibrant electronics scene, however these two musicians approach their sound from two distinctly different angles.

Dillon's "Curl" combines synthesised percussive effects with dubby analogue tones - maintaining the avant garde sensibilities of her Blues Dances 12" on Where to Now - while the synths of Gwyer's "Common Soundproofing Myths" wail like sirens before falling into intoxicating acid territory.

Cliques—the collaborative project of Sydney, Australia based Hamish Dixon and George Nicholas—fuse rolling techno momentum with a sound system focus, culminating in innovative and heavyweight dance floor material.Having steadily built a strong reputation for themselves, with crucial early support from DJ Oneman, and to date they've released on Aquatic Lab, as well as a track on the most recent Tempa Allstars ('AUT' - Tempa Allstars Vol.8). They now move on to their first solo project for Tempa, the 'Dotted' EP.Title track 'Dotted' sees Cliques take their sparse productions to the limit, focusing on the core elements: intricate drum programming, an intense bassline and a tightly wound melody. The unrelenting melody ramps up in intensity, mutating and taking on a life on it's own and propelling the track ever forward. 'Untitled' features an equally paranoiac soundscape, the skittering hats and bassline giving way to a melancholic breakdown, before resuming the unrelenting pressure.The flip sees fellow Australian producer Dro Carey remix 'Dotted'. With releases on labels such as Trilogy Tapes, Ramp and Greco Roman, Carey brings the same dancefloor aesthetic, mutating the melody of the original even further, the broken drum patterns playfully switching up and releasing the tension.Finally '8th' rounds off the EP with something more relatable to the early Tempa back catalogue, the swung drums and murky atmospheres a fine tribute to the early work of pioneers El-B and Horsepower Productions.

EnergyDream Ep is entirely based on vocal house samples, deprived of their frenzy soul and arranged into a new melancholic mood. The frosty vibrations generated from the textures produced and the ambient arrangements bring the listener into a dimensionwhich lives within a purist vision of the dance floor and anastral journey.

A typical approach which has been marking Dave's productions for a long time.

DJ Taye is one of Chicago Footwork crew Teklife's youngest producers, stepping up with his first full release for Hyperdub after some impressive tracks on the 'Hyperdub 10.1' and 'Next Life' compilations. The 'Break It Down' EP is invigorating from the word go. On the relentless stargate of 'Go Away' with DJ Paypal, smooth funk is chipmunked and chopped into a thousand digital shivers and starbursts over a tough grid of drums. 'That Love' featuring Tripletrain and DJ Manny is all romantic coos and seesawing keyboard riffs, micro-edited, stretched, chopped and spring -loaded in and out of comprehension. 'XTCC' in contrast is minimal and mournful, with the repeated phrase 'There's a void where there should be ecstasy' over drums that cut from half to double time, over a blanket of bass with sad chords slowly coming in towards the end. 'Break It Down' flips a ferocious yet minimal vocal cut up, coiled around a bristling vortex of detailed drum edits, before a goofy melod brings it to a close.

With our first release of 2016, we welcome one of South London's _nest, Dullah Beatz, with his EP "Ballys On". Known to the label for a while, Dullah has been around since Grime started but the availability of a lot of his beats has been sparse. So after a guest appearance on our first album, JT The Goon's "King Triton," we're proud to present Dullah's most substantial release yet. On the A side for the 12th release on Oil Gang, the orchestral minimalism of the title track gives way to the Indian scales of "Time," both of them full of sub and menace. Then on the B side, there's a track called... "Oil Gang". This was Dullah's choice, we're not just going on an ego trip. The echoes of the label's recent styles are there though, a JT style flute riding gunshot hats and amsfeedback. The last track, Floating, rounds up the EP with a bit of tribal space and steel drums riding Dullah's inimitable style. This is the first time theres been a proper Dullah Beatz statement on vinyl and we're really happy it gets to be us at Oil Gang that got to do it.

We've been meaning to put out some music by our friend Harald ever since we started this wee operation five years ago. Imagine our joy now that we're ready to release not one, but two masterful records signed Mr. Björk! Solemn chord improvisations recorded in the secret gardens of Nacka pair up with a shameless yet humble cover version of a techno evergreen on this perfect little vinyl exclusive record, beautifully designed by Malin Gabriella Nordin. This 7'' single is released synchronously with the 12''/digital Fritids EP

Low Jack's unpredictable Editions Gravats twist out gruff, grooving Extraits of texturhythmic sound art from Jean-François Plomb's JiFlure installation, making up the french artist/plastician's idiosyncratic début release.
These are tightly coiled yet wickedly chaotic creations, gleaned from a jerry-rigged set-up of three compressed cardboard suitcases containing 4 x mechanical sanzas (Mbiras a.k.a. thumb pianos) built from circular saw blades and brochette spikes (metal skewers), all powered and excited by windscreen wiper motors and an array of homemade vibrators, mechanical drums,
metronome and harmonica.The workshopped results are inarguably congo-ruous with what you'll find outta Düsseldorf's Diskant label, and also bear a striking resemblance with the ferric tang of Konono No.1's thumb piano techno, yet they hail from a rather different artistic process altogether, which possibly shares more in common with Jeff Keen's self-built sound blatz or Pierre Bastien's mechanical instrument compositions.
However, they all share a ruggedly rhythmic charge between them, one that relishes in the grit and infidelity of hypnotically repetitive, moiré-like pattern, and the friction of gear-grinding texture:
something universally understood by DJs and dancers looking for ruder, unique styles to move mind and body.

British art-rock band No-Man (Tim Bownes & Stewen Wilson w Mick Karn, Richard Barbieri, Steve Jansen, Ben Coleman) recorded Heaven Taste in the studio sessions in summer 1992. It got first released as a complete 21 mins version on Painting Paradise EP on One Little Indian (1993). The track drew attention in the rising ambient techno scene and got played by DJs like Mixmaster Morris.

The track fuses ambient techno with art rock and features a distinctive fretless bass solo by Mick Karn.

This super sound 45rpm 12" features a Steven Wilson edited 11.21 mins version of the original and on B-side Jimi Tenor's rearrange with some solos with flute and keyboard.

Label boss Om Unit delivers his first full solo release for Cosmic Bridge! Jim Coles, aka Om Unit launched his Cosmic Bridge imprint in 2011 with his (now highly prized) collaboration with Kromestar, 'Solar Cycle/Merkabah' and despite further appearances on the label; remixing and collaborating with Moresounds, Danny Scrilla, EAN and compiling the labels DJ Mag nominated compilation of the year 'Cosmology', solo material from the prolific producer has been noticeably absent from the Cosmic Bridge release schedule... until now.
Om Unit is constantly mutating his take on UK soundsystem music and following his acclaimed 'Inversions' LP for Metalheadz 'Torchlight Vol.1' is sure not to disappoint. Drawing on his perfect storm of influences the innovative hip hop and drum'n'bass dismantling outsider builds some of his most progressive music yet . As Om Unit tells it...
'This record is the result of many studio jams using outboard gear and less rules. Applying these almost non-techniques to the 160bpm bass music template I was seeking new ideas by breaking up the work flow. The result whilst some might say is not a million miles away from music I've made before, is a step further out of the box I feel I have helped create somehow.'
Opening track 'Wagonist Riddim' hints at some sort of anti-gravity Dub-futurismism; atmospheric squarewave soundsystem skank exploded and reconfigured at 160. A dynamic balance of halftime restraint, purring FX and rude analog nostalgia. Jungle veteran, DnB legend and Function Records boss Digital (Metalheadz,Phanton Audio, 31 Recordings and more) guests on dark steppa 'Midnight Oil' lending his heavy, dub-influenced sound to the raw breakbeats. Together the two influential producers flex some proper 'ardcore torque and bruising sound design and the result is a '92 breakbeat version of the detroit techno sound; sleek lines, sci-fi punch and sense of space and momentum.

The last track on the wax 'The Lake' ebbs and flows, an immersive adventuring mechanical-soul-scape that calls to mind some of Leftfield's finer 'Leftism' moments. Inspired by a mediative experience at the clear, pure and still waters of Lake Volanselkä outside of Helsinki it's a feast of downtempo nordic infused dub sonics and fluid etherial syncopation. The title of Torchlight's icy bonus cut 'Demons Out' does nothing to belie its nature; described by Coles as 'a Ritualistic cleansing for a soundboy's head' the track closes the EP - slow, offbeat, halfstepping and atmospheric - and gives time to contemplate the vision and potency of it's makers music.

Documenting the prescient, early work of Gavin Russom upon moving from Providence to New York City in the late '90s, this compilation reflects the visceral and overwhelming experience of an artist getting familiar with the data overload of a megatropolis and all its 24 hour thrills and poly-cultural topography. As Russom explains: Arriving in New York City I found myself surrounded by an incredibly intense field of stuff to take in, late night radio mixes which featured distinctly New York sounds like freestyle and hip hop, clubs where house, techno and jungle played to drugged-out and/or completely sober sweaty crowds and beard scratchers alike, no wave, new wave, disco, afro-carribean, art rock and experimental music records I would pick up at thrift shops or used record stores, abstract turntablism, video toasting, japanese noise imports, house parties and basement dance caves, drag clubs, DIY theater productions, underground warehouse art and music events that would last days and feature vivid sound and visual excursions as well as breakfasts and conversation areas, squatter punk noise and drumming freakouts, high brow new music' events and installations, video booths, burning buildings, car accidents, abandoned buildings, late nights, early mornings, Coney Island In effect, these tracks are a series of snapshots or graffiti-like doodles and sketches of the feelings and and textures absorbed during late night dérives from his loft on 31st St. and around the Williamsburg locale, all channelled thru a rugged set-up including: Sony TC-155 and TC-102 reel-to-reel tape machines a Silvertone guitar, ATUS AM100 mixer, Boss Harmonizer, a tiny Radio Shack mic, a Radio Shack Realistic Electronic Reverb, Casio MT-40, Univox Compac 2 and Casio SA-41.
Imagery of policemen and truck drivers picking up prostitutes, along with the whistling signals of crack buyers and sellers on the corner, for example, become transcribed into screeching scrabble and blow-out paroxysms of noise, interspersed with passages of bittersweet, rudimentary melody and swaggering, drugged-up rhythms, recalling a prickly and often uncomfortable experience as sticky, fucked-up and phantasmagoric as finding yourself in a new city can be.

Not to be outshone, Powell pays dues to his mentor with a cork-popping COV Megamix ov Hardwax Flashback littered with samples of Russell doing Russell for RBMA, making for his most DJ-tempered tools to date, whilst DJ Stingray puts a lid on it with hollow-skulled clank and darkside descent of Gas Attack in a grimacing Atropine Mix.

Arguably the label's most striking, even transcendent release, Channelled Messages at the end of History started life as a gift for a friend following long conversations about the nature of improvisation, spontaneity and musical mediumship and subsequently dawned as a remarkable document of occult praxis in the digital age.
Tongues of Light acts as a sort of psychopomp or liminal interpreter for a wide range of belief systems, all rooted in the common conviction that they are channelling sounds from some 'other' or 'higher' entity or dimension, much in the same way that Sun Ra believed he was channelling celestial bodies thru his music or the Dogon people of subsaharan Africa believed they received alien codes describing humanity's heritage.
The record unfurls as a seamlessly sequenced compilation of samples - all framed by plasmic drones and synth pads which connect and highlight the links between seemingly disparate elements. By the record's end the effect is really quite uncanny; compounding disparate new age coordinates on a common plane, and thereby revealing their underlying, subconscious metaphysics.
It's great to hear Pre-Cert Home Entertainment connecting the dots between generations of new age thought and practice, and we reckon this slab will standout as one of their defining releases for time to come.

Visceral Vibrations, the US-based record label dedicated to pushing emotive, bass-led electronic music is back with its third music acquisition cataloged as 'VV003'. With preceding releases to have received airplay on radio stations like Rinse.FM, it's safe to say that the label is supported for sharing their take on progressive bass intelligence. Adolfo Ancona (24), more commonly known for his music under the Hysee moniker, moves around this realm, mostly between the 140-170 bpm mark. His music is a mixture of electronic / ambient music cultivated through a deeply organic and experimental approach. With past releases on imprints like Nord Label, Deep Heads, Samurai (Horo) and CX, this Italian-based producer is building a vast collection of bass material on both physical and digital formats. 'Circular Dispute' is an exploration that incorporates soft textures, mellow kicks and changes in bass pressure to convey mystical movement. The rigid half-time marker slowly fades in, turning circular pressure into a subtle roller that simply defies the rules of gravity. Hysee applies an even more intricate formula to 'Isolator', one that bends attentive low-end textures and minimalistic percussion through time and space. The way it travels, progresses and ends makes this production a groove on its own & an excellent add to 'VV003'. Hysee's last succession on the record strikes slowly but steadily, waves of deepening frequencies, mesmerising synths and arrhythmic choirs form the pendulum of his signature sound. This closing production allows listeners to drift off to another dimension or subconscious vibration. Visceral Vibrations' third acquisition holds the talent of the Italian producer Hysee, who takes part in our lineage of forward-thinking bass music. With a review hosted by the trusted FatKidOnFire blog and airplay support by influential artists, we're ready to present 'VV003' to the world.

We have seen Jorge Velez's at his most adventurous when working with L.I.E.S. Here he's at again with a set of hypnotic tripping arrangements.. TIP!
From 2012's "Hassan" lp to his "Territories" record from a couple years back we now hear Velez taking his sound into new realms on this five track effort. In what can be called a foray into animal -themed electronic experimentation - recorded using only Fairlight CMI samples and a Microbrute synthesizer - we hear a melodic side to his sound previously not present in other works. Hints of Musique Concrete as well as Eastern influences creep about in a teasing manner bringing the listener into a dream world of digi-nature, electronic bird chips and 8-bit waterfalls.. A welcome and refreshingly unique listen.

SYNTH SISTERS are a synthesizer duo comprising of Rie Lambdoll and MAYUKo (also known as CROSSBRED) and based in Osaka, Japan. SYNTH SISTERS debut album "aube" was released privately by the group on a limited CD in 2014. MAYUKo passed a copy to 17853 label boss, Shimuzu, and he was knocked sideways by their unique music - hence this vinyl issue was born.

Like a female Tangerine Dream A womanly twin incarnation of Terry Riley The duo create deep psychedelic synth drone, recorded live, totally free and improvised using five synthesizers, their own voices and effects. Underground go-to engineeer, KABAMIX, is on remastering duty - giving it a strong re-EQ for the album's first vinyl issue. The project is dedicated to deceased noise artist Akifumi Nakajima a.k.a. "AUBE", who past away in 2013.

This EP aims to break the rules through a bizarre idea of temporal continuity which may look like a bit of a paradox : from the dark vibes/atmospheres of the 80s via the glacial synths and the warm sampled beats of the 90s to the vaporous present day disco. Von den ersten Takten des wundervollen "So Well" (mit ihrer Freundin und Kollegin Jessie Ware) wird das Album durchzogen von einem Gefühl der Freude. Obwohl The Invisible auf diesem Album neben Ware auch mit Anna Calvi, Rosie Loew, Connan Mockasin und Sam Shepherd (Floating Points) zusammengearbeitet haben, herrscht vor allem das Gefühl der gemeinsamen Begeisterung und dem Spaß am Musikmachen. "Patience" ist ein Album, das zwar in Richtung des Londoner Souls von Ware deutet, dieses aber mit dem Experimentalismus der LA Beat-Szene kombiniert (wo Dave Okumu viele der Songs geschrieben hat) und dem rohen Funk von D'Angelo. Was leicht zwischen den Alben vergessen wird, ist die wunderschöne, lebensbejahende Musik, die The Invisible erschaffen. Kurz vor der Veröffentlichung von "Rispah" (das eine herzerweichende Hommage an Okumus verstorbene Mutter ist), wurde Okumu durch einen Stromschlag verletzt, als er in Lagos, Nigeria mit der Band live auftrat. Möglicherwiese wurde er nur durch das Einschreiten von Herbert gerettet, der ihm seine Gitarre entriss. Dieses persönliche Gefühl der "Rettung" der Band hat letztendlich zu "Patience" und dem Gefühl, "the luckiest men alive" zu sein, geführt. 'Step Off' is arguably the most compelling tune of this 4 tracker. Starting off with a pleasantly mysterious sounding melody, intricately arranged break beat patterns and the occasional female vocals, it slowly makes its way to a heavyweight Coleman-led climax."Falling" brings the EP to a very dark and deep apocalypse. The ground shakes violently with God-like sub waves, until the crust crumbles into thousands of amen shards and suddenly you're falling... all the way to the core of the Earth.

For several years now, The Void* (pronounced: The Void Pointers) have been developing their own sound idiom at the cutting edge of ambient, live electronics, drones and post-rock. The trio, consisting of Roald Dillewijn, Eric Magnee and Tijs Ham, chooses to build their own instruments to accomplish this. Both the coding of software and hardware tinkering are used to knead their sonic universe. 'Values' is released by three(!) collaborating record labels from The Netherlands: Lomechanik, Esc.rec. and Shipwrec. This album fits seamlessly into the catalogues of all three labels. Both musically and aesthetically, because the packaging of this 12" vinyl is stunningly beautiful, as usual.

You know the score by now, bouncing jungle party vibes are the order of the day as another Jungle Cakes release comes rolling out of the studio and onto a dance floor near you.Cain.1 & Wakcutt are first up on this single with 'Night Nurse', jam packed with infectious melodies and crisp breakbeats you know this is going to be irresistible before it's even dropped. Booming bass and infamous reggae vocals hit all the right notes and the party's barely even got started. 'Bad Duppy Walk' will definitely see you through to the end though, as Slynx takes a classic vocal and runs it over a jungle-tastic backbone flecked with electro-house influenced bass touches that will undoubtedly get the crowd jumping. Early pioneers of the German New Wave music scene, Din A Testbild were formed in 1978 by Mark Eins and Gudrun Gut (former member of Einstürzende Neubauten, Mania D. and Malaria!). Din A Testbild played a significant role in defining the avant-garde music of Berlin. Legendary is their partecipation at the Festival Genialer Dilletanten" in 1981.
'Programm 2' is their second album mixed and produced by Klaus Schulze on his own record label Innovative Communication in 1980, Programm 2' was a favourite in the playlists of the Italian cosmic dj heroes Daniele Baldelli and Dj Mozart.

Fresh from the success of the 'Peace Of Mind' LP, Mindtech Recordings present their latest album project from Belgian neurofunk duo HUMAN ERROR! Alongside their solo Sinecore and T-Psy aliases, Sylvain Colm ant and Gilles De Ro have been collaborating as Human Error since 2010. With releases on Close2Death, Future Funk Music and Trust In Music and their first album released by Kaiza's T3K imprint in 2012, the duo have been a formidable force on the Belgian scene for some time now.

Between a busy schedule playing shows all over Europe they have spent the last two years in the studio gathering their best tracks, and now Human Error take their journey to the next level as their sophomore LP 'Intersection' drops on Mindtech.

Old-school jungle flavours from new label Jungle Education. Release number 1 comes from Russian producer LDA, with three tracks of sample-heavy ragga d&b.

'We Start Over' arrived on the desks at International Feel and it felt perfect for us. Deep electronics, a lovely mood, forward thinking and a gorgeous vocal from Trudie Dawn Smith. Lots to play with from a remix perspective and a great original track in itself. Steve Cobby is a British producer, musician, composer, and DJ, based in Kingston-upon-Hull, Yorkshire. He co-founded Fila Brazillia in 1990 and released 10 critically acclaimed LP's and produced over 70 remixes for artists as diverse as Radiohead, Busta Rhymes, Black Uhuru and A Certain Ratio. Cobby now releases music via his own label Déclassé label. His latest and third solo LP 'Saudade' was released in March 2014 and received considerable critical acclaim.

The first 12" consists of the original version and on the flip a remix by Apiento & Lx (their first track together since the underground classic 'The Orange Place' ). The remix is slow trance in its purest sense, made for lasers and dark nightclubs. It's already receiving club play and has been named by Andrew Weatherall and Sean Johnston's ALFOS as "one of the records of the summer". High praise.

On the second 12" the reins have been handed to Gerd Janson & Phillip Lauer a.k.a Tuff City Kids - two people making some of the finest house at their at the moment with Janson also getting massively known globally for his DJing. Their remixes are made for the clubs. The 'Garage Dub' is classic New York house that is as deep as you like and one of those hooky ones that does everything perfectly. The other, 'Private Acid Mix ' goes heavy on the beats and drops the 303 in a fine style with the vocal looped and twisted.

As you would expect from International Feel this is classy and classic club music covered from all angles from a balearic original, a deep chug remix from Apiento & Lx and the Tuff City Kids bringing the house vibe. Deep deep deep.

Bopside's first release for 2016 comes from label owner Tadd Mullinix, releasing under his birth name for the first time since 2002's 'Panes' on Ghostly International. This album is comprised of 3 long form experimental electro-acoustic compositions, 2 of which clock in around the 15 minute mark, and another clocking in around 9 minutes, taking you fully into the imagination of an artist who is constantly experimenting and redefining the sonic landscape. Recorded on a variety of equipment and instruments, these 3 recordings capture a human side and sense of playfulness, while at the same time taking you into the heart of darkness.

Almost a year after his last outing, London-based Vester Koza is making a welcome return to the fray with a new EP entitled OTR. Featuring four atmospheric cuts, for the first time it finds him step away from his own Maslo label to join Houndstooth.
Fusing elements of dub, ambient and IDM into moody sound worlds with you right at the centre, he has a subtle but seductive touch that has always marked him out. An on-going interest in security, technology and privacy characterizes his work, as does a passion for the vintage and modern gear he uses when producing. All of that is evident here in his most cerebral and conceptual release yet.

Biosphere is the main recording name of Geir Jenssen (born 30 May 1962),(1) a Norwegian musician who has released a notable catalogue of ambient electronic music. He is well known for his works on ambient techno and arctic themed pieces, his use of music loops, and peculiar samples from sci-fi sources. His 1997 album Substrata was voted by the users of the Hyperreal website in 2001 as the best all-time classic ambient album.

Patashnik was originally released by R&S Records/Apollo in 1994. It was number 1 in NME´s Independent Chart in March 1994 and reached number 50 in the UK official album chart.

The track Novelty Waves was used in Michel Gondry's Levi's 501 Jeans "Drugstore" spot, and holds - according to the Guinness World Records 2004, the record for "Most awards won by a TV commercial".

One reason why Jenssen's work stands out from the flood of early '90s ambient/techno releases is his strong sense of the quirkily creepy -- not in an Aphex Twin mode, but in his own particular way. The contrasting samples of a child quaveringly saying, "We had a dream last night," followed by a rougher sample saying, "We had the same dream," gives opening number "Phantasm" an unsettling feeling. Intensified by the, on the one hand, pretty, on the other, disturbing music, buried synth strings and a soft pulse accentuated by clattering noises deep in the mix, it kicks off the striking Patashnik very well. Though not as openly dark as acts like Lull, for instance, Biosphere still has an edge which isn't just melancholic, it's downright ominous at point. There's the slow crawl of "Startoucher," for instance, with its buried vocal snippets and deep bass drone, or the blend of the space signal atmospheres of "Mir" into the low, brooding intro to "The Shield." Not everything is so shadowy, though, Patashnik is primarily a relax and chill listening experience, but not without its gentle high points. "Novelty Waves," which became a crossover single in some quarters, has a good dancefloor sharpness to it even as Jenssen slyly sneaks in odd drones and samples through the mix. The opening snippet talking about an extraterrestrial disc jockey on "SETI Project" is good for a smile, as well as acting as a sharp lead-in to a fast rhythm track. Mostly, though, things continue on a deliciously unnerving pace throughout, gentle enough to go down easy but still just off enough to ensure you can't call this new age folderol for the rave generation.

The Calypso is a musical genre that was popularised in the 50's and exclusively made by men for a long time. But if there is one queen of this movement, it is Calypso Rose. Life hasn't always been easy for the Caribbean Diva and she willingly praises a discourse of peace, but engaged, condemning social unfairness and the actual status of women. This all is joyfully sung against a musical background of pure Calypso, Ska, soca or aga. After a long career of more than 800 songs composed, the dynamic 75 years-old woman is coming back with a new album Far From Home", determined to conquer the hearts of people she hasn't yet. Manu Chao, who discovered this living legend of Calypso", has provided his guitar and voice on 3 of this LP's tracks, produced by Ivan Duran. The dubplate king, the dubstep ambassador, Joe Nice has finally decided to start his record label, GourmetBeats. For the first release, Joe does what he does best - selection - and this choice does not disappoint. GourmetBeats 001 finds two exclusive tunes from DJG.'Swazi Rhythm', a staple of Joe's live sets and radio shows for more than a year, is a tribalist slow burner that trots to an attention-grabbing woodblock pattern. Various cyclical additions complete the pivots in between, and, a driving, steam engine-type whistle, and a warbling theremin tone increases the tension. Building the intensity, DJG reloads the stomping subs with aggressive and tasteful snarls to complete the melodic content.'Drumma', a new DJG production, has a polyrhythmic rolling gallop with a serious low-end. A choir of voice drones float above an angry, but controlled metallic melody. Offset snares and occasional synth stabs move the music amidst waves of industrial textures.
Charity:
WIth each release, GourmetBeats will make a financial contribution to a charity or social cause in the name of the artist. The chosen charity for this inaugural release is Little Kids Rock. This charity funds lasting musical education programs in United States public schools by donating instruments, providing curricular resources, and training faculty.
