Aria Rostami and Daniel Blomquist's debut album "Wandering Eye" was recorded over the span of a year and a half. "Dome A" and "Dome B" were recorded inside of a planetarium dome to no audience and it was the second time Rostami and Blomquist played together. "Ridge A" is the latest song recorded and it was performed live in Blomquist's basement. These live tracks use source material ranging from samples from the internet, to live field recordings, to synthesizers. "Dome C" and "Dome F" were compiled by sending material back and forth over and over again and then rearranged into coherent songs. These studio recordings mostly consist of processed piano originally recorded by Rostami. "Ridge B" originated as a cover of the Persian pop song "Do Panjereh" by Googoosh that Rostami had created but was manipulated and distorted in the process of sending the material back and forth. The song titles come from a paper published by Saunders et al. titled "Where is the best site on Earth" which highlights the best places to observe space from the Antarctic Plateau. Antarctica is the coldest, driest and calmest place on earth. The astronomical sights there yield images of the heavens that are sharper and have more clarity than any other sight on earth. It is a gateway to observe other worlds.

Aria Rostami and Daniel Blomquist are from San Francisco, CA. Rostami and Blomquist's work occurs at two stages, the gathering/preparation of source material and the live performance. Primarily, Rostami and Blomquist's source material focuses on, digital information and the exchange of that information, repetition and decay, and non-involvement or surrendering aspects of creative control. Some of the piano recordings were created by answering a simple questionnaire Rostami made that uses letters, colors, numbers, major verse minor, and picking between flat, natural and sharp to create a framework for a composition. After the framework is created, Rostami creates a song on the piano, records and sends it to Blomquist who in turn manipulates it. In some cases, Rostami recorded the material using the audio recording option for the app Viber. Rostami used Viber to communicate with a friend who was visiting Iran. Since he had asked her to fill out the survey through the app, he also recorded the material through the low quality recording interface. Sometimes this material is thrown back and forth and sometimes it's processed only once or barely touched. The recording is then turned into a loop and recorded to tape. This system was developed to surrender control and allow the origin of the composition to come from somewhere else much like field recordings or sampling does (two other ways Rostami and Blomquist gather source material.) Time, entropy, and decay are central factors in Rostami and Blomquist's work. For live performances Blomquist works with samples gathered and manipulated digitally and then dubbed to analog tape, reconstituting the quality and predictability of the digital source material. By using loops, Blomquist can take a short audio clip and concentrate on processing it live and allow for improvised changes to that recording over long periods of time. Rostami adds in an extra layer of drones, fuzz, melodic ambience and crescendos with his synthesizer. Their compositions explore dynamic relations between digital and analog sound creating quiet transitions and soaring peaks.

Kris- & Konflikthantering is Swedish for 'crises and conflict management,' as well as a course at university guiding you how to manage scenarios involving crises and strategies in handling conflicts. This album was put together while Harald was taking this course. This album was made during semi-unconscious conditions and is an emotional transcription of experiences to the language of sequences and frequencies. The soundscape is a warm fuzzy travel from krauty basslines, vocal fragments and mantras through echoes and reverberating tunnels with shimmering arpeggios, field recordings and programed patterns in ancient Japanese Roland techniques. All recorded on the Studer B67 master tape recorder, the heart of the Kranglan Broadcast studio. The album is being released as a three episode series with exclusive remixes on the 12s. The vinyls come in sleeves with cover artwork drawn by Malin Gabriella Nordin. Kris- & Konflikthantering I/III (KLN007) features 4 tracks with traces from Harald's latest release Fritids EP on Studio Barnhus as well as a remix by Petter Nordkvist under yet another moniker... It is the first time Harald and Petter are on the same 12 since the Thunderpants era with Harald on the microphone and Petter behind the screen releasing on young John Dahlbäcks Pickadoll Records, time flies. Kris- & Konflikthantering II/III (KLN008) features 4 tracks including songs from Harald's live repertoire as well as a remix of his Studio Barnhus debut Sabor Latino now interpreted by the queen of Pampa, Areal and Kompakt, Ada. Kris- & Konflikthantering III/III (KLN009) is the final ending with 2, 14-minute plus tracks. One dedicated to the ancient rave grounds of Hellasgarden where it all began in terms of dancing in dirty fields lit by sonar sweeps from the broadcast masts and strobes visible all the way to the city.

seminal hip hop duo Jigmastas and DJ sets across
the globe, to his iconic solo productions and
remixes. But if you ask him, it's the relationship
he's forged with personal hero Stevie Wonder
that Spinna considers to be his single greatest
achievement.
As with most artists of a soulful persuasion,
Stevie's music influenced Spinna from the outset,
dictating everything from his approach to writing
to his use of Fender Rhodes and Moog bass-lines
on his productions. Having gained so much from
the great man, Spinna decided to pay tribute in
the form of 'Wonderfull', a series of parties
celebrating the Wonder of Stevie. This is where the
story became somewhat surreal for Spinna,
suddenly finding himself joined onstage in
Washington D.C. by none other than Stevie
himself, a spine-tingling moment even when
viewed on YouTube.
An extension of the Wonderfull parties, this album
represents a celebration of the life, music and
cultural impact of Stevie Wonder. Few compilers
can boast Spinna's understanding of Stevie's back
catalogue, not to mention the large number of

Peripheral Records is proud to announce: a re-issue of the ultra-rare collaboration between JFK and the Grey Wolves, originally recorded and released on cassette in 1988 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Kennedy assassination. The music is a reflection not just on the event itself, but also on its implications and ramifications: the collective trauma and psychosis, the invasive cold war paranoia, rumours of shadow governments and the implied presence of the hidden, alien hand that guides and shapes human affairs to who-knows-what end."

Marsman started making hiphop beats in 2005. Pretty soon he found that making solely hiphop beats was a limitation he had to get rid of and that's when the basis of Marsman's music was born: No genres. He developed a foundation in experimentation and started exploring new niches - without going into a genre too deep to remain unique and to keep surprising himself with sounds and rhythms he had never heard before. That is the second rule in Marsman's music: He makes music for himself - as an expression of the (sub)conscious. In all his 15+ previous, mostly self-released, EP's you can clearly hear the development of his mindstate often going through feels of manic, chaotic and restless auditive experiments. Marsman has also been lucky enough to explore this experimental stage of composing and producing music by attending Utrecht's School of Music & Technology for some years. Though, this stage of experimentation will, in some way, never end. There is no end goal and there is only development to be unfolded.


Only just recently Marsman concluded that his main goal in music is to communicate his mind-states through the meditative powers of frequencies. He chose to take the time to be more conscious about what the music will communicate, instead of communicating his tracks that only rising from the subconscious.
The album has a lot more depth , tranquillity and imagination to it when compared with his earlier work.

The first effects of this insight are represented in this 45 minute long trip through memories, possibilities and personal realities. There's no definition of what it ís about - it just is, like most things in life, completely open for interpretation.

Meeting by Chance is a solo project of Marcin Cichy co-creator of the legendary Polish duo Skalpel (Ninja Tune), one of the most important talents from Poland to come into the international limelight.

"Changes" is second LP from Marcin released unexpectedly after critically acclaimed debiut "Inside Out" . Musically you will find an eclectic blend of jazz, leftfield, tiphop and ambient here. Marcin, always a very careful observer, took inspiration for Meeting By Chance from a sequence photography by Duane Michals entitled "Chance Meeting" comprising of six photos of two passing strangers. The sequence has no definite end but rather a pregnant pause, and this combined with freezeframe creates a space. This gave Marcin the idea for music that fills this space with a magical and dreamy soundscape filled with creative, sublime sensitivity, giving both the composer and listeners a brief portal away from hectic reality. Meeting by Chance also takes its influence from a chance meeting with four vocalists who are featured throughout the entire album. Noah (Flau - Japan) subtle voice noticed by Guardian as the "best new bands of 2015" head to head with Little Simz, White, Mura Masa and more . Gustav Ahr young trip-hop talent from New York . And finally Magda Nazgarøth and Karol Wróblewski (Small Mechanics) - his voice is often compared with Jamie Woon . Both from Poland.

Just having finished his own Boiler Room Set in Brussels, Pomrad will be playing live Festivals all over Europe this summer including but not limited to Dour Festival (BE, July).

Following Golf Channel's release of Orange Cloud Nine', a retrospective by enigmatic Dutch musician Spike Wolters, whose four privately pressed LP's from the 80's are the stuff of legend, comes a remix album featuring some of Golf Channel's finest, including Juju &Jordash, Mark E, Abel Nagengast, Chris Munoz aka Sexican, DJ Nature and Mind Fair.

An album of 80's avant-garde gold that brims with an otherworldly charm, Golf Channel lovingly compiled the four LPs of the greatly eccentric and elusive Spike Wolters and brought it to a new generation of music fans with the 16-track album in 2013. A fiercely political outsider who sued his government for lifetime rights to the dole, he dropped out of society and during the 80's produced a string of LP's which he pressed and sold himself. These sank without trace but were happened upon a few years ago by Red Light Records' ardent digger Abel Nagengast. Abel managed to track down Spike himself, and Spike finally agreed to reissue his music after meeting Golf Channel Recordings label boss Phil South and taking an instant shine to him on account of the holes in his socks.

This new release sees Spike's beloved pop songs remixed by expertly skilled and likeminded talents who also call South's esteemed label home. JuJu&Jordash bring the dark and brooding heat for a deeply immersive remix that creates a meditative energy. Birmingham's fated patron of lush, slow-mo disco Mark E turns in an epic slow burner, whilst Sexican (responsible for Heroes of the Galleon Trade) and Abel tap into Spike's core duality, where strains of Balearic drenched pop rub elbows with post-punk - to deliver taut workouts wrapped in upbeat sleaze. NY's legend DJ Nature cranks things up a notch for a deep and rhythmic edit that walks the line between disco and house, whilst Mind Fair rounds things up with a remix that's alive with playfulness and grace, mixing disco and new wave with Spike's ethereal folk.

* Rose is presented as a clear laser etched vinyl edition featuring artwork by Mark Titchner. The record is released by Omne a new London based sound and text based publishing platform.
* Grumbling Fur present the music for Mark Titchner's film installation Rose. Developed as meeting point between Daniel O'Sullivan and Alexander Tucker's collaborative music project and Titchner's expanded moving image and text based works the project was initially presented at Dilston Grove in London during summer 2014.
* The music continues Grumbling Fur's immersion into a haunting legacy of British folk and outsider electronics, bringing these worlds together within an enveloping field of sensory speech and sounds evoking both transcendent bliss and introspective paranoia. The music mirrors Rose's thematic influence's, drawing from the desires of individual hope and aspiration as well as interrogation techniques found in the declassified CIA Kubark manual.

First they had a feather fight. Then they did what's known in the industry as 'the gettup' and proceeded to tear a hole into 2013... Now San Fran / Bristol's finest dynamic duo return with two more beastly jams.

'Steven Jello' takes us on a deep journey into the groove space continuum. Boasting a strutting cosmic bassline, hypnotic percussion, weeping synth flurries and a timeless house vocal shot, it's Justin and Eats at their most con- templative. Heads down, feet to the floor, get busy... We have no idea who Steven Jello is, but as he's inspired a tribute like this, we're already in love with the man.

'Kong' is so monstrous it'll have you climbing the nearest skyscraper for safety. You'll be ducking from the groaning, moaning airplanes overhead. You'll be air drumming to the gargantuan tub-thumping fills. You'll be shaking your hairy booty to the snake-like percussion. You'll be pounding your chest to the rusty organ flourishes. You'll be asking yourself... Where has this tune been all my life!

Few co-lab projects resonate with such distinctive shared spirit and sonic camaraderie. It's a shame Justin and Eats don't live closer together or we'd have an entire album of this high calibre material by now.

A poet's reminder of a specific season.

Len Leise's 'Lingua Franca' launched International Feel's mini-album series (closely followed by the wonderful CFCF with 'On Vacation'). 'Lingua Franca' reached critical acclaim and tipped into end of year charts from the likes of Thump and Vinyl Factory. Each mini-album will be followed by a twelve inch featuring a remix by the artist and another respected producer, so revisiting "2015's undoubted Balearic masterpiece" (Thump / Vice) are remixes from Gilb'r and Leise himself.

Len Leise hits a mood and rides it. His album was heavily percussive, melancholy in places, happy in others and gloriously well balanced. For his remix he takes hold of 'O Caminho' and turns in a dub heavy ride of a track. Bass lines rumble and the congas move. Road tested in various nightclubs, it kicks when played loud. The original of 'O Camino' also makes an appearance on this package (one of the favourites from the album), and finally in comes Gilb'r to take on 'El Modelo'.

French native Gilb'r is a living legend in the house scene. He makes ridiculous records on his own, and also alongside the likes of I:Cube, as well as running the well-respected Versatile label. On initial listen his mix sounds stripped and industrial, but get lost in it and you can hear why he is so highly praised. It's a timeless piece of house music made with the dancefloor in mind.

Acid Park is an eight movement suite for synthesizers, samplers, and voice. Born from balancing a love/hate relationship with song structure, baroque music, and soundart, Acid Park projects the most embarrassing aspects of each form as radical, chaotic elements organized by traditional constructs of composition.
Her writing process was simple, yet meticulous. All of the tracks were built as collages by toying with sounds first, before cutting, pasting, and manipulating them in various ways. Ohal worked with each synth instrument as a closed system: she extracted sounds and repurposed them into complex textures and melodies. The percussion sounds on Acid Park were derived from this same process, but slowed down or sped up on tape and recorded back to the computer before landing in the mix.
Ohal wrote Acid Park with a cyclical listening experience in mind. These eight songs grow and fold into each other, feeding on themselves like an ouroboros of lysergic emanations.

Kicking off this four track EP is one of Yuri's most dynamic productions to date. Wildly oscillating synths and snapping handclap-led house beats drive 'East West Connection', while what starts out as an acid synth shifts through a cycle of changes before evolving into a Detroit-style riff.

Both 'Nervous Arp' and 'Morning at Home' take the same palette of sounds into much deeper territory, touching base with electro funk and straight up jazz-fusion, highlighting Yuri's versatile musicality and distinctive production style.

'Modular' is an older track of Yuri's - a non-stop ride through wonky, synthesized fusion with hypnotic keys and rolling drums.

As you descend the staircase into DARKSIDE's Brooklyn studio, the cement walls pulse slightly faster than your heartbeat. Entering the converted apartment, the first thing you notice is the symmetry of Dave Harrington's appearance. In the low light, his matte-black shirt and jeans form negative space between the shine of his boots and his shock of red hair.

Death in Vegas returns with Transmission, the sixth release from the project begun by Richard Fearless nearly two decades ago. This album forges new miles on the path Fearless carved with Satan's Circus and Trans-Love Energies, and is born of his desire for an ever more raw, refined sound.
United over a love of Throbbing Gristle and Chris and Cosey, Fearless partners with artist and writer Sasha Grey, whose lyrics resonate across the soundscape of visceral techno and unsettling, discordant drones, weaving into a state of dreamlike euphoria. Field recordings of the constant drone of air traffic and incessant noise from the steel factory opposite Fearless' Metal Box studio, as well as the Ballardian landscape in which it's set, all exert their pull on the record, searching for light in the dark.

The remarkable series of releases from the trio of Keiji Haino, Jim O'Rourke and Oren Ambarchi continues with "I wonder if you noticed "I'm sorry" Is such a lovely sound It keeps things from getting worse", which presents the entirety of an 80 minute set performed at Tokyo's SuperDeluxe in March 2014. Where their 2012 performance (BT011 and BT012) was divided into two releases, one continuing their exploration of the guitar/bass/drums power trio format and the other emphasizing new instrumental configurations, the single extended performance presented here ranges widely over terrain both new and familiar, from acoustic strings and collective chants to thunderous power trio moves.
Throughout all of its transformations, the music here is some of the riskiest and most abstract the trio have yet committed to record. Beginning with chiming percussion reminiscent of Haino's classic Tenshi No Gijinka, the first side is dominated by Haino's impassioned vocals and performance on the bulgari, a traditional Turkish string instrument. Together with the woozy, sliding foundation of O'Rourke FX-laden bass and Ambarchi's ritualistic percussion, the trio craft a sort of epic, abstracted song that moves through its spontaneous episodes with all of the fluidity of the best free improvisation.
After a haunting passage in which Haino's voice, descending from angelic high notes to guttural growls, is accompanied only by O'Rourke's roaming bass, Haino turns to electronics, gradually building a thick cloud of cosmic sludge as Ambarchi's drumming goes into free fall. The end of the second side presents a special treat: Haino's first recorded outing on the contrabass harmonica, from which he coaxes bizarre, wheezing textures against a backdrop of spacious bass and percussion. When Haino eventually picks up the guitar midway through the epic performance, the spaciousness and sense of volatility remain, with the trio often moving in an instant from crescendos of ecstatic noise to near-silence.
O'Rourke and Ambarchi rarely adopt here the classic rock roles essayed on earlier releases. O'Rourke's bass, which takes centre stage surprisingly often, is sometimes so heavily processed by his array of pedals that it becomes a shifting electronic mass, at other times his roving chromaticism suggests a sort of fuzzed-out free jazz. Ambarchi spends much of the set exploring areas of tumbling free pulse, and even when he locks into a constantly repeated figure on the set's third side, he gestures as much toward Ronald Shannon Jackson's stuttering marching band funk as toward any classic rock moves.
When the trio finally move in the final quarter of the performance into an extended passage of rock riffing, the payoff is immense, as they craft a thudding one-chord epic reminiscent of some of the early Fushitsusha classics, before Haino returns to the bulgari, bringing the set back to where it began. Continuing to explore new instrumental and dynamic possibilities while remaining grounded in the trio's previous work, this set also brings with it a unique pleasure for the non-Japonophone listener: for the first time Haino sings many of his metaphysically brooding lyrics in English.

Generative music has long ceased to be unknown territory in composition. Ever since Steve Reich's It's Gonna Rain' and Brian Eno's Music For Airports', again and again musicians have used different techniques to create a music, which modulates on the basis of strict rules, is varying over and over and thus emerges from the very moment itself. Thereby, it is the great depth of a composer's artistry to determine the possibilities - to define the fine line between stagnation and chaos, to sound the limits between monotony and cacophony. Following this tradition is also german ambient musician Martin Juhls aka Marsen Jules. For more than a decade, the sound poet has been reviving touching acoustic moments and condensing them to musical jewels. While doing so, he likes to compare his way of working with the approaches to abstract painting: The sound particles turn into timbres and tone colours that Jules arranges on the compositional canvas of time and space as quietly flowing snapshot. At times in wistful nostalgia, then again in revelling riot, sometimes in sublime serenity.
While the mentioned musical pieces of Reich and Eno particularly were confined to audio tracks of various length running against each other, Marsen Jules has refined this technique more and more over the past years and has developed it further in every detail. Thus, his compositions vary on all sorts of levels and modulate in all ranges of the spectrum of sound, reaching deep into the granular structure of the sounds. That way, seemingly static sound structures are created that vary sheer
endlessly and in which every single moment is absolutely unique.
One important source of inspiration for Shadows in Time' was the stunning installation Series 1024x768' by media artist Johannes Franzen: on a computer screen, all 786,432 pixel continuously change their colour with every second, pursuing the aim of running through all potential possibilities. A simple process that is so complex in itself, that even modern high-performance computer systems cannot capture it and to consequently run through it would last far beyond the existence of our solar system. All of a sudden I realized that on the screen, which showed nothing more than a chaotic accumulation of little dots, in the course of time, inevitably and predetermined, absolutely any motive would be created. Not only all great paintings of art history, but also every single possible event in the history of mankind, any reality that has been experienced or dreamt of. The fascinating possibility to picture a unique and thrilling image thereby was given in every second anew. In front of my mind's eye I pictured myself holding a brandy snifter and a cigar, sitting leaned back in an armchair until the end of time, staring at the screen waiting for this very unique moment that would show me in exactly this situation', explains Marsen Jules.
As unique every single moment might be, in the end it is only a shadow in time. But to experience this uniqueness over and over again, is entirely up to the one who is experiencing it. It was this particular experience of every moment's fragile beauty that formed the source of inspiration for the concept album Shadows in Time'. DeepChord and Echospace started off as barely more than a rumor supported mostly by the continous scarcity of their records. The duo comprised of Detroit's Rod Modell and Chicago's Steven Hitchell have spent nearly two decades producing low-key electronic music both bordering on the verge of myth. They're considered by many the most noted producers operating in the dub-infused aftermath of the Basic Channel axis and all its myriad offshoots. Their landmark album, "The Coldest Season" on the celebrated Modern Love imprint was named album of the year in over 40 different magazines around the world and was listed as one of "The Best Albums Of The Decade" in Resident Advisor. The Detroit duo also record under a a variety of monikers (cv313, deepchord, intrusion, phase90, variant, etc.) and have continued to carve out an evocative, immersive sound born out of a love and passion for analog circuitry, sound design, field recordings and non-conventional methods of recording. But it's also work that's quintessentially building upon the Detroit electronic scene where it was born, and that divine marriage of roots and vision make the work at once so highly considered, so pertinent and so timeless. This marks the first Echospace (Rod Modell & Stephen Hitchell) project since 2012's, "Silent World" album release. On this new project, a collaboration with one of their closest friends and mentor, the late Michael Mantra, who's contribution to society cannot be overstated. Michael's theories on 'Brain Hemisphere Harmonic Healing' were instrumental in the development of vibrational and sonic therapy. His experiments in the neural affects of sound paved the way for for what has now become healing music. In his honor, we're moving forward with a project we started some years ago and has finally come to form. Echospace plays Michael Mantra, "Sea Shell City" is a 70 minute voyage into the furthest depths of the mind, featuring three tracks of ambient drone-based sonic worlds. Where gentle waves of organic harmonics induce an almost meditative state of being. On this album sounds were sculpted with the use of hydrophones, piezoelectric transducers, wind harps, and binaural dummy-head microphones creating snapshots of normally unheard sonic worlds. Analogue oceans in slow motion, allowing one's mind to float into those mystical quiet zones, the brain hemisphere-sync effect Michael Mantra fostered for nearly three decades is ever present. We're continuously reflecting on the teachings of Michael and in his honor, preserving the essence of sound and vibrational healing through music for immersive journeys into the vast beauty of atmosphere, the mind, nature and the inner self.

Avant Garde, Repetitive, Minimal, Stoner Rock, Religious.

A french trio called France, using drums, bass and amplified hurdy-gurdy. They perform only live, in the middle of the audience - turned in to face each other - full on smoke machines and strobes. And they play only one 'song' for the duration of their hour-long set. And it's the most transfixing live experience of intense physical and mental focus. The distorted hurdy gurdy plugs France's sound into the country's history of folk music and popular festivities, of communal trance and immersive pleasure. The rhythmic basis is pretty much the same throughout the whole live. One doesn't need to actually be tripping balls for the auditory illusions to start coming thick and fast. Those who've stayed for the whole duration of their performances know they've shared something. However disparate the phantom forms each might have discerned in the midst of the howls and groans. Gigs like this you leave feeling you're not quite the same person who went in, even though you'd be hard-pressed to pinpoint precisely what has changed. One certainty remains at least, that there is still a France we can believe in. David McKenna (The Quietus). The Release: Initially released as a 50 copies CD-r in 2009, swiss Mental Groove has teamed with french Standard-Infi to reissue this classic live performance onto glorious vinyl edition. The 45 minutes are radically sliced onto the two sides. The recording is raw and the mastering is fat. Les Fils Du Calvaire are a Francophone trio from the Electronic Chanson Française's new wave. Before adopting their current name 3 years ago, the band was called dOP, and already has a solid background in the music production. Indeed, Les Fils Du Calvaire were also used to being among the best hip hop beatmakers of France providing rappers such as Oxmo Puccino and composing for mythical Jamaican figure (Horace Andy & Johnny Osborne). After a first noteworthy single Rester Avec Toi", they are releasing an album in line with the pioneers of the Chanson Française, adding a subtle note of humor and derision. Jointly created with Ash Workman (Metronomy, Christine And The Queens), Fils De...' is the perfect balance between French tradition and modernity.

Sequential Sleep is an ambient two-part CD release made for dreaming, a sonic travelogue set in multiple locations within a winter forest. Everything in its natural environment is magnified with a 7:1 field recorder that captures the purest form of nature. Utilizing newly developed forms of fm, granular and modular synthesis allowed this project to unravel in ways we never expected; like a visitor on foreign lands. Harmonic angelic sequences continuously ebb and flow, slowly moving, like the tides meet an estuary. Slowly evolving electric currents fluctuate in their purest essence possessing the closest reach towards a pure analog sound experience. The interchange and combination of field recordings and spectrum of sounds via various 16-step sequences become alive, taking on an organic yet expansive, and three-dimensional sound design which is out of this world. In the space-time continuum, every sound travels back down to earth within the spatial expanse, where recordings take on their own natural life in paradisiac existence.

Based on the Sufi teachings of sound—appreggiation and vibration, this music's vibrational pull of oscillating frequencies are founded on chord repetition, so too like chants that heal and allow the mind to reach meditative states. These immersive zones are the platform for a pure, rejuvenating, aqueous trance-like experience of endless possibilities. Freely flowing and comforted, just as a mother's womb, the unconscious mind embraces all. These are songs that warmly envelope, soothe and heal the soul. Nearly 2.5 hours, both sonic journeys are adaptations of the other and the essence of the vision. And, its sequences are steps into a dream, the steps into enchantment.

Behind and beyond these recordings therein lies the inspiration of its mysticism:

French composer and Ondes Martenot virtuoso, Christine Ott releases her first full-length album since 2009 and her debut record for Gizeh Records. Ott is a mischievous, extraterrestrial being. Always looking for new and interesting ways to work, she does not settle on one instrument, such as the Ondes Martenot: an enigmatic electronic musical instrument invented by Maurice Martenot in 1928. Nor does she settle on one musical style: she is working with an ever-present passion to shuffle the cards. Ott has been an integral part of Yann Tiersen's experimental band for the past ten years, contributing on both recorded material and live shows alongside a vast amount of other work for theatre, film and dance.

Still early on in theirASCENT, Manchester's Project 13 are a label who have so far been defined by an experimental approach to club music and a cold, unforgiving aesthetic that's remained suffused with a certain UK quality.

With previous releases coming from their tight-knit group of core artists including Acre, Divided and Szare they now ready their 4th record - a 12' marking the return of Divided for his second outing on Project 13.

Having provided 002 on the label and also releasing on Resin back in 2014, Divided now introduces his Black Swallower / Interzone EP - a brash and daring hybrid melding Grime and Techno with that same UK tinge as its predecessors.

'Black Swallower' kicks things off with a vicious snare and a wide, heavy kick set to a stepping rhythm. Metallic synth tones hack their way through the mix before 'Interzone' sets rough, tumbling drums under lively, circling tones that add further weight and substance to the Project 13 catalogue.

'Utility' is the stunning longplayer by Livity Sound co-founder Kowton, a debut album release for both the artist and the label. Combining the powerful reductionism of classic Detroit techno with the inventiveness and originality of the Bristol sound, Kowton has produced a body of work that will no doubt be looked back upon as a landmark UK techno album.
* While his trademark hypnotic rhythms, dramatic transitions and chest-rattling bass are all present and correct throughout, 'Utility' is more than just a collection of club tracks. Here Kowton has distilled both his influences and experience to create an immersive journey that twists and turns, encompassing not only weapons-grade 4/4 techno, but also geometric minimalism, deep abstract dance and skeletal, grime-influenced ambience.
* "The name 'Utility' came from a series of conversations I had in the build up to finishing the record, what feels most prescient to me right now is writing concise music with purpose and direction - visceral music that's uncluttered both sonically and theoretically', explains Kowton. I wanted to create an LP that works on the floor but is nuanced enough to justify repeat listens and self-aware enough to sit properly as a complete album.'
* From the opening bars of Comments Off', we're straight into the fray: the booming bass and intricate staccato rhythms coaxing the listener into a tunnel of repetition only ruptured by bursts of sub-bass. This sets the tone: each track on 'Utility' is comprised of very few elements, but it's what Kowton does with them that makes it such an engaging listen. Take the Sahko-indebted bleeps of Balance', for example, as Kowton layers them into a cerebral ping-pong before unleashing its brazen percussive chassis.
* Following the immersive 'Scido' and pummeling 'Sleep Chamber' the tempo drops for mid-album centrepiece 'Some Cats', which writhes on a slippery arpeggio providing brief respite. Things kick back up a gear with the disarmingly stark and simple minimalism of 'Loops 1', segueing perfectly into the frenetic polyrhythms of 'Bubbling Under'. 'A Bluish Shadow's spaciousness is the final calm before the storm of album closer 'Shots Fired' where hints of bitter sweet melody meld with stattacto subbass and disorientating arpeggios.
* 'Utility' may be Kowton's debut LP, but he's definitely no newcomer. Over the years he's accumulated sonic influences and geographical bases that span way beyond Bristol and its associated categorisations, eventually leading him to Peckham in South East London, where he now resides. Born in the relative isolation of Grasmere in the Lake District, Kowton's early musical education depended greatly on late 90's print magazines like Jockey Slut and Muziq and the blistering techno favoured by the local rave community.
* In the late 90's the way we consumed music in the Lakes was incredibly different to anything that happens now. We'd buy to tape-packs from Eastern Bloc in Manchester, or loan Metalheadz and Moving Shadow CD's from the local library. There were the monthly magazines and people's older brothers but our knowledge of scenes as a whole was patchy. As we got older there were always quarry raves going on but the music there was hard techno and if we ever got a warm-up slot it wouldn't last long.'
* Kowton studied at music college in Manchester from 2003 to 2007. Heavily influenced by the staff at Pelican Neck Records (Boomkat's old physical shop) he became aware of seminal European techno artists like Basic Channel, Monolake and Mika Vainio. A period of record buying obsession coincided with the golden era of Grime and Dubstep and soon Kowton's attentions were concentrated on the stream of new 12's coming from labels like Tectonic, DMZ and Tempa. This combination of low end pressure and European repetition has come to define Kowton's sound.
* In 2008 he moved to Bristol, co-inciding with a change musical direction, as the city, and the UK underground as a whole, began to once more embrace house and techno. An integral part of the team behind the newly minted Idle Hands record shop, it was their accompanying record label that allowed him to explore the possibilities of the darker end of dance music. The series of 12's Kowton released for the label drew comparisons with German wizard Kassem Mosse, known primarily for his ability to employ obtuse rhythms in a manner that still kept the dance floor bubbling.
* Around the same time, Bristol luminary Peverelist began sharing ideas and collaborating in the studio with Kowton, the pair eventually linking with Asusu to form Livity Sound: a label and collective intent on creating no nonsense dance music with an emphasis on pared down rhythms and classic sound system approaches. The critically lauded opening salvo of releases the label put out culminated in the accolades of Resident Advisor's #1 Label Of The Year and #2 Compilation Of The Year for 'Livity Sound'. The trio subsequently assembled a powerful live hardware set-up, using improvisation and dub effects to meld their music together into a thrillingly raw, unbroken whole.
* Over the course of the last five years, Livity Sound have cultivated a reputation for releasing some of the most exciting and visceral UK dance music of recent times, placing Kowton's grime-infused techno alongside Pev's exquisitely balanced rhythm science and Asusu's atmospheric, percussive club tracks. Resident Advisor called the label's output some of the most inventive dance tracks in recent memory', with the trio at the forefront of a new wave of UK techno that's as much about pushing originality, experimentation and futurism as it is about club functionality.
* Starting to work with Pev and Asusu on the Livity Sound project did a lot to edify for myself how I felt about dance music: I'd felt a little dislocated previously, writing moody techno but playing things like Theo Parrish and Soundstream records. With Livity Sound - and particularly the live show - we were just playing music we'd written and it felt so satisfying. We hadn't invented a sound but we'd definitely cemented our own take on techno. It's changed the way I write tunes and DJ significantly.'
* As a solo artist Kowton has been equally busy: a stellar run of brutalist, grime-infused bangers ('Des Bisous', 'TFB' and 'H-Street') pricked up the ears of many leading DJs, he's remixed Paul Woolford's classic 'Erotic Discourse', collaborated with the much hyped house producer Julio Bashmore on their murky Ekranoplan project and released on Hessle Audio, All Caps, Hemlock, Ilian Tape, Hotflush and R&S. More recent additions to his catalogue - such as the synth trill tension of 'Glock & Roll' and the stratospherically euphoric pads of Peverelist collaboration 'End Point' - have highlighted the more playful and melodic elements of his sound while still imbued with a heavily immersive atmosphere.
* There's been many facets to Kowton's musical evolution, the constant feature throughout though has been a focus on effective, strpped back, raw tracks that reduce dance music to its essence and in doing so give the form new life and energy. Simple utility done well.

Debut LP of Manuel Carvalho, half of Paralaxe Editions, under his Manta moniker, after a self released CDR and a tape on Marvellous Tone. Inching a few steps towards the dance floor, 'Citadel' revolves around notions of space and its emotional resonance within the human psyche, conjuring visions of Detroit Techno or early Warp into a Ballardesque dream of hazy synth lines, layered percussion and glassy textures. Over six tracks, Manta ebbs and flows seamlessly from the neon lit utopias of 'Kayseri' and 'Grid', through to the paranoia infused thumping rhythms of 'Citadel' and 'Blackwater' and into the synthetic tropics of 'Ghost' and 'Grid', all the while creating a headspace where Juan Atkins, B12, Porter Ricks or Black Dice all fit within the same dimension.

The forthcoming release on Love Thy Neighbour features the first commercial release for Brighton-based Merlin Tonto. Named after an early-80's brand of personal computer, it is therefore fitting that the EP is housed in a 5.25'' floppy disc.

Formed in 2013, Merlin Tonto (Owen Thomas (electronics), Miles Boyd (bass) and Steffan Eliades (drums) combine a patient, ever building, subliminal connection in the rhythm section with Owen's virtuoso manipulation of electronics and visual interpretations of the band's otherworldly sounds. It was clear from early performances that this was the genesis of a special band and their brilliance as a live act has seen them support bands as varied as Errors, Disappears, Esben & The Witch and Follakzoid. Their first recorded demos showcased a fantastic flair for merging the sounds of the contemporary dance floor with decidedly human sounding percussion and bass, as if Carl Craig visited Cologne '72. Their as yet unreleased EP 'Baotou', due out on 8th April 2016 on Love Thy Neighbour, moves things forward significantly, recalling at various times Factory Floor, ESG and Leftfield. It's all done in their idiosyncratic way, the music is never in a hurry to get anywhere, their restraint meaning the joy is as much in the journey as the destination.

* Spirit is a bone fide legend within the world of D&B and most famous for being himself and himself with Digital, as 'Digital & Spirit'.

* Author of some of the biggest hits within the scene, like 'Phantom Force', 'Remote Control', 'Raygun' and 'Solitaire', he even co-wrote 'John, Im only Dancing' with David Bowie.

Aïsha Devi's 'Of Matter And Spirit' LP encapsulated the spiritual metamorphosis and transcendental journeys of this other-worldly figure. 'Of Matter And Spirit Remixes' offers a series of new perspectives on the sonic wonders hidden within. Irish duo Lakker's take on 'Anatomy Of Light' adds a heavy dose of syncopated percussion. Recent Ninja Tune signing Throwing Shade transforms 'Kim & The Wheel of Life' into an introspective session. The remix EP boasts two reworks of 'Mazdâ'. Berlin's Mind:Body:Fitness interprets the track as a whirlpool of trance, and the spooky Killing Sound version features MC/vocalists Rafael Shafique and Bogues. Alter Echo & E3 return for their third chapter on ZamZam with a dark, low-slung steppers featuring the one Rider Shafique of Bristol's esoteric Young Echo crew. AEE3's first collaboration with a vocalist, 'Heights' provides a rockstone riddim for Rider to step forward with a powerful lyric, a declaration of principles and intention to trod outta Babylon, tearing off mental chains along the way with total focus on the destiny of liberation for those with the will to persevere. Rider's presence transforms every track he graces into pure message music, as heard in recent months on collaborations with Gorgon Sound, Ishan Sound, Gantz and more.

"Heights" rocks with swirling atmospheres and pointillist detail, powerfully psychedelic dubbing at once organic and metallic, always with fundamental dub principles anchoring and propelling forward, ever forward. The version 'The Sound Tonight' strips the vocal out completely, using that space to push the kick, bass and ricocheting snares further forward with extra dub flourishes, mirages, and sample grinding.
Preferring quality to quantity, Alter Echo & E3 have become a duo to watch, particularly after last year's 'Nubian Dub' b/w 'Warning Dub' 7' on ZamZam sold out instantly, becoming an immediate underground hit. Both tracks have spawned heavyweight remixes by Egoless, Ishan Sound and DJ Madd, all of which will see release later in the year on a pair of limited Khaliphonic 10's. Stay tuned.

After releases on Livity Sound sister label DnuoS YtiviL and Cold Recordings, Batu returns with his own new imprint Timedance.

The label is set to offer a platform for hybrids and mutations of UK Techno, and the first release will be launched with a party in Bristol on 20th February, where Batu is joined at the Cavern Club by Beneath and Transient.

The release showcases a progression from Batu's first two 12's, with more colour and melody than his previous work, sitting alongside waves of propulsive percussion.

Michigan's ambient and soundtrack specialist John Beltran introduces a new LP that will be co-released by Delsin and his digital only label Dado Records. Entitled Through the Blinds, it features ten tracks by Blair French (who also appeared on his Music For Machine compilation on Delsin last year) and will be released on January 18th 2016. Blair French aka Dial.81 is an experimental producer and visual artist who won an award for his score of Detropia--a documentary about his home city of Detroit--and now makes his ambient debut. As you would expect of such a project, it boasts suspensory and near spiritual pieces of ambient music with angelic chords and glassy textures. There are also more frosty cuts that sound like a chilly Autumn walk, tracks that feature emotive neo-classical piano pieces and suggestively rhythmic compositions that sooth your mind. The second half of the record touches on church like passages of synth heavy sounds, strikingly sad violins and lo-fi arrangements that sound, one hopes, a little like what you might hear as you pass from this life to the next.

Blackest Ever Black and Klanggalerie present the first ever vinyl reissue of Caroline K's outstanding 1985 album, Now Wait For Last Year. This haunting, wistful work of post-industrial synthesizer music - the late Nocturnal Emissions co-founder's only solo record - has accrued a fervent cult following over the past 30 years, and copies of the original pressing are today extremely rare and sought-after. Appropriately enough for an album concerned with the disruption of linear time - it takes its title from a Philip K. Dick novel concerning a highly addictive hallucinogenic drug, JJ-180, that induces time travel for its users - the music on Now Wait seems to exist firmly outside of it. Tags like industrial, minimal synth or proto-techno can't really do justice to the richly cinematic sound-world that Walters describes: from the sustained ambient tension of sidelong opener 'The Happening World' to the future-primitive rhythms and stately piano flourishes of 'Animal Lattice', and the melancholic, deep-frozen synth sequences of 'Chearth'. Fans of Wendy Carlos's A Clockwork Orange, Chris Carter's The Space Between, and early Detroit techno should pay special attention, but this searching, future-proof masterpiece demands to be heard by all.

It could be said they've ascended to maturity yet, in many ways, Ed Banger remains gleefully youthful, holding to the spirit of the party - a stable of DJ-producers with a huge sense of fun and old-fashioned loyalty to each other and their fans criss-crossing the world. The imprint's illustrious history and adventures have been documented in a new photographic book by label designer So Me called 'Travaile. Famille. Party' - Work. Family. Party. As Pedro explains 'After managing Daft Punk between 1996 and 2008 I wanted to create my own history. By creating Ed Banger records I launched my own musical adventure in a way. I learnt so much with Daft Punk, I owe them a lot. Celebrating this 10th anniversary is very emotional, I'm proud I managed to write a pretty nice musical chapter in my life. Daft Punk as chapter #1 and Ed Banger records as chapter #2 is pretty cool.

Transparency and connection, contemplation and departure,
meditation and attack: this music fascinates from the very
beginning. It has no need to boast or become talkative, but stays
true to itself as it casually develops its poignant pulse and lets it
grow, and grow. The web of sounds soon begins to radiate from
within, it inspires images in one's head, and invites to musing and
introspection. Against the background of a wide horizon the
details of their music join, develop a life of their own, and lift off
to collective flights of ideas. This music is an invitation to listen
without prejudice, offering a way to get lost in dreams while, at
the same time, remaining solidly grounded and completely awake.
There are many connections between bass clarinetist/soprano
saxophonist Klaus Gesing, bassist Björn Meyer and drummer
Samuel Rohrer. The experience of playing together and sharing
their innovative spirit is a pre- requisite for the artistic co-
operation of this new trio, in which the love of adventure and
improvisation takes precedence over the pre-composed. Because
of this the evocative power of their interaction can generate such
strength, the give and take of their musical discourse be so
intimate.
In this music a unique sound structure grows from within itself,
layer by layer, and involves and enchants the listener. It is broadly
emotional and without mystique or pretension. How else could
these delicate dialogues develop such gravitational pull and
magic Acoustic and electronic sounds, sensuous rhythms,
sumptuous woodwind-songs, earthen and ethereal bass lines,
grooves and vibrant atmospheres all merge with one another and
graciously rise from silence to hypnotic beauty. The inner logic of
the trio's interaction is compelling for it neither strives for
attention nor takes the listener unawares. It grows and spreads
coherently like a natural organism.
The three of them have, each in their own right, worked with
outstanding vocalists. Samuel Rohrer with Laurie Anderson and
Sidsel Endresen, Klaus Gesing with Norma Winstone, Björn
Meyer with Asita Hamidi - all of whom are vocalists that can
evoke textures with delicate poise, avoiding trends, and express
them in an entirely personal way.
It also characterizes the unique quality of this trio's instrumental
music: richly coloured, highly concentrated and finely balanced, it
develops a life of its own without ever imposing itself on the
listener.

Four more serious jungle cuts from Persian, effortlessly merging the new and old."Choose the Sword" (Dub Refix) is a quality jungle take on the classic "Baby Cart"films, combining samurai film fx and vocal samples with squelchy synth and propulsive think break. "Give I Strength" and "Too Young" are two choice dubwise cuts, with classic ragga vocals and heavy bass. Finally, "Hitchi Hogan" takes those amens and weighty bass and slows things down to a more hardcore/breaks tempo (130bpm), mixing in dreamy techno pads and acid along the way.

After much anticipation Infernal Sounds finally bring their first musical offering to the table with a 2 tune vinyl and 3 tune digital release from the one and only Perverse.They're a fitting duo to honour the introductory release on the label, branching out from an already highly successful life on Youtube. With merch and even more news on the way, it's fitting this release sees the light of day now with a release just into the new year planned, so get saving those pennies.

Side A 'IO' starts with an airy intro with light highs and snares dancing around an atmospheric flutter. It builds brilliantly to a rigorous roller, with surging bass lines and a continued medley of interestingly arranged drums. With complex joints between growling notes, this tune does not disappoint and gets the release off to a fantastic start. On side B 'Aye Aye', a weightier track with a slightly more stomping element against the first tune's rolling atmosphere. The highs in this tune are perfection, dancing around the bass lines creating a really tangled but organised collection of sounds around a rigid bass line. The minimalistic notes in the later bars only add to the rising vibes of this tune, concluding the tunes included on the vinyl.

For Well Rounded's 11th release Bristol's Skinnz drops a trio of infectious and melodic creations that share a kinship with today's garage and funky house sounds whilst standing apart due to their unique character.

* Commix is back and it's a very welcome return. The duo were the most revered of the second wave Headz acts, they had cross genre appeal and the album 'Call To Mind' was universally acclaimed. The duo then went their separate ways and worked in other genres.

French composer and Ondes Martenot virtuoso, Christine Ott releases her first full-length album since 2009 and her debut record for Gizeh Records. Only Silence Remains is beautifully melodic and filled with mystery, seeing multi-instrumentalist Ott performing on a variety of different instruments throughout the record.
Ott's creations are nothing short of magical, with the piano taking centre stage throughout, accompanied perfectly by the Ondes Martenot, harmonium, tubular bells and percussion. This music is revelatory in its ability to transport you to another time or perhaps even another world. It's nocturnal qualities coupled with subtle romance reveal an artist at the top of her game. Only Silence Remains seeps into your unconscious, and rewards with repeated listening.
From movie soundtracks to opera, through improvisation, contemporary music, theatre plays, dance or rock music, Christine Ott's musical path has always been guided with a 'no limit' spirit and will to share her passion for new sounds with others. Ott is a true eclectic artist with a musical journey that knows no concessions, always driven by an insatiable curiosity, uncompromising musical choices, and cooperations born with passion and heart. Collaborations with the likes of Yann Tiersen, Radiohead, Tindersticks, Syd Matters, Daau, Raphelson, Noir Désir, Vénus, Oiseaux-Tempête, Foudre, and Mondkopf have lasted over time.... Her music is all together unclassifiable, disturbing, inspired and melodious.
Ott is a mischievous, extraterrestrial being. Always looking for new and interesting ways to work, she does not settle on one instrument, such as the Ondes Martenot: an enigmatic electronic musical instrument invented by Maurice Martenot in 1928. Nor does she settle on one musical style: she is working with an ever-present passion to shuffle the cards. Ott has been an integral part of Yann Tiersen's experimental band for the past ten years, contributing on both recorded material and live shows alongside a vast amount of other work for theatre, film and dance.

* Tabvla Rasa is a an experimental and post techno Ep based on the historical events of the Second World War. The first track CXIX is about the days of Bombs in London during the War. The second track CMXI is about the connection between the indian Swastica and the esoteric symbolism used by the Nazists in the same period.

* A1 track is a pure experimental dark track leading at 99 b.p.m. using a raw lead and synths in a repetitive and psychedelic loop . A2 track is a post techno track, more suitable for the dance floor. The Artist used the same musical and machines structure for both tracks, 99 b.p.m., same delay and reverb effects preset and same instruments.

It's hard to believe that it's been over a decade since Digitalism broke through with their anthemic 'Zdarlight'. Nu-rave and dubstep came and (largely) went; hip-hop morphed into trap; and EDM made pop stars out of dance DJs. Back with their third album, 'Mirage' - some five years on from sophomore record 'I Love You, Dude' - the German duo have wisely resisted any vogues or trends. Instead, they present a record that takes their much-loved sound and opens it up to new permutations and possibilities.

'Mirage' sees Digitalism return in their most complete and coherent incarnation yet; the album spanning euphoric radio-friendly electronic pop and guttural dancefloor bangers with equal aplomb. Their songwriting craft has stepped up a notch too, their vocal tracks delivered with more conviction than ever and once again firmly placing them in a position as an act with big crossover potential.

With a newly focused approach, the duo put together 'Mirage' in the relatively short space of six months. 'This time the production felt so natural and clear,' says Isi. 'Our secret is our new light-heartedness.' The album was inspired by 'deprivation and travel' - a nod to both the trials of their extensive touring that has taken them everywhere from Coachella to Melt!, and their respective residences in London (Jence) and Hamburg (Isi). 'Usually, the best ideas just come to us when there's not much going on immediately around us', Jence explains of their creative process. 'When you're forced to imagine things, that's when inspiration is best. You know, when you switch off the light in our bunker studio, it's really dark, and there's nothing - until you start creating things in your head - and then as music.'

Dashes of disco, French touch, prog rock, rave and hip-hop are thrown into an eclectic sound palette that colours the album. From the full-power electro-indie of 'Battlecry' to the upbeat rock flavour of 'Go Time' and the euphoric melancholy of 'Utopia', their sensibility for storming riffs and melodies hasn't waned one bit. Then there's the scintillating epic 'Destination: Breakdown' and glitchy electro-rap 'Ism' showing yet more accomplished diversity. The two-part title track shows the evolution of their synth work in stunning fashion, beaming in inspiration from the greats like Vangelis and Tangerine Dream across a mesmerising twelve-and-a-half minute journey that makes for an impressive album centrepiece

'First of all it's probably a snapshot of our thoughts, like a brain scan', says Jence on his evaluation of the new album. "It's a soundtrack to our own world, but so vaguely put again that other people can identify with it, or come up with their own analyses. It's meant to be something fantastic, something beautiful, yet fragile. Maybe a parallel universe that you step into, and you get stuck there. Or you get back into normality, had a hell of a ride, and count the days until you can visit it again. It's meant to stimulate your imagination.'

* The legendary EZ Rollers return to the fore once more to drop one of the biggest room shakers of 2013 as only they know how. With a bassline large enough to move mountains this had LTJ Bukem all over it from the off. A lesson in drum & bass design from one of the most influential production outfits the scene has to offer.
* 'Riverside' flexes hard and heavy with solid b-line that thumps from the off over a skanking break that sets the mood perfectly. Cool percussion and instrumentation ensure this one holds on and never lets go for a future thinking slice of goodlooking greatness.
