He drops with the statuesque Godzilla, which rises slowly out of the ether, switching back on itself until the tune is fully realised, and then smashes your system into submission. Few artists can boast the same creative scope as Legion & Logam. Owning a back catalogue of melodic rollers which exemplify their lasting impression, the trio's technicality often goes unrivalled. It's unsurprising then, that Program stepped up and showcased this exciting and pivotal release. For anyone unaware of their masterful production style, the artists have introduced themselves in two halves. And both tracks are delicately woven, sonic blasts to the aural senses.



The ride begins with 'House of Cards', tightly coiling its energy like a spring and snapping under its audible weight. Firmly compact with booming drum loops sat defiantly amongst the scratch, snap and skit of percussion, the two elements juxtapose flawlessly. The ethereal arpeggio of piano notes leads into the soulful, wispy vocal of Adam Wright, and it adds a delicacy to the record which only emphasises its detail. Revisiting a hit 2012 reggae tune, Liondub International presents the official re-release of this digital roots burner with a thick 2014 remix pack featuring jungle legends and rising stars including Potential Badboy, Serial Killaz, Curfew Steppas, Cabin Fever, contributing weight for our 21st release. The OG version features vocal spots from Norway based Nico D and 21st century reggae heavyweight Turbulence singing praises of the herb over an up-to-the-minute riddim produced by Bost & Bim out of France. Contributing a vocal mix, Potential Badboy contrasts the more faithful vocal version, backed by a minimalist jungle drum & bass foundation. Serial Killaz contribute the fastest rework of all, which retains the lyrical flavor of the original but thickens the backing to include a bed of sustained bass, re-ordered backing samples, and a long instrumental outtro that sustains the groove and intensity for the dubwise DJ. For over six years, shadybrain is forcing innovation in Drum and Bass. With it's 10th vinyl this is made clear more than ever. Nicole Willis, soulful chanteuse, releases another single from her acclaimed LP "Soul Makeover" - "Siesta" in late June.

"Siesta" is one of the slower, more sultry tracks from the LP, and this time around, it gets two new mixes: one from Finland's Roberto Rodriguez,a spaced-out soulful dub groove and a garage mix from Temple of Soul.

More surprises abound with the B-side remixes of "Heed the Sign", also from the "Soul Makeover" LP. The first mix comes from Finland's premier spaceman and husband to Ms. Willis, Jimi Tenor, a fresh and surprising acid house workout! Iceland's GusGus also deliver a remix with laid back grooves and Chris Dawkin's guitar solo.

Nicole Willis is from New York, and this track is taken from her debut LP "Soul Makeover", produced by Nicole, Maurice Fulton and Jimi Tenor. However, Willis is no stranger to the recording industry. She has recorded with a variety of artists including Leftfield ("Swords" track from "Rhythm and Stealth"), Curtis Mayfield (!!), the The, Wax Poetic, and Deee-Lite. She also fronted the group REPERCUSSIONS (Warner Bros. US) from 1989-1995, with its New York-style of acid jazz. Her forthcoming LP for Sahko is a blend of sultry house, electro Motown soul and deep grooves.

Beta 2 makes his over-due return to the camp with three slices of freshness, two of which feature vocalist Steo. Dublin's finest are welcomed back with open arms!

Built around Steo's vocal refrain, 2nd page glides and moves around effortlessly with tight and well executed drums pushing the track forward. The hypnotic and almost psychedelic string carries momentum as the reese sits low in the mix, making this a perfect mid set number.

Beta 2 takes things in a much techier direction but still retaining that funk that's needed Headz. Marching kicks and snares roll out with huge rides, the turnaround edit is a classic kick snare kick affair as you would expect from a track like this, its early virus with todays production values.

You instantly get the impression this was great fun to write for the pair, it's a 140bpm affair but not as you would think, the reverse kick adds an off kilter dimension to this with techno stabs filtering up and down through track.Very soulful indeed.

The SGN:LTD story continues to gather at a pace with the debut contribution from Austria's finest 4-man production team, Fourward.

Known for their fearsome tirades of bone shaking bass, their SGN excursion is no different with two tracks of tech-infused future thinking drum & bass.
*'With this release we wanted to continue where we stopped with our last few releases without repeating ourselves too much. As this is our first single for SGN:LTD we wanted to make it as "Fourward" sounding as possible. * We were also looking to make a single that has two different faces to it. While 'Black Tooth Grin is a straight up dance floor orientated tune, we tried to make the flipside 'Guilty Pleasures a bit more twisted, a bit weirder. The production process of these 2 tunes couldn't have been more different as well, while 'Black Tooth Grin' took about 3-4 months to finish, 'Guilty Pleasures' was done in 3-4 sessions.
*We are already looking forward to do the next one for SGN!'

General Narco has returned! Rumoured to have gone AWOL in 1998, he has infact been working deep cover as a secret agent in the ongoing global war against B.L.A.N.D (Boring Lacklustre American Noodley Dubstep). Locked away in his underground bunker with nothing but weapons grade narcotics and his trusty sampler, he has emerged with these 2 massive jungle/drum & bass rollers, ready to once again wage war on the frontline.
"Inna The Dance" finds a rare soundboy anthem getting a shot of high calibre DnB in the arm, whilst "Ironside" sounds the alarm for some serious dancefloor warfare - let's roll! Whilst the true identity of the General remains a closely guarded secret, many say he can be found unleashing sonic bombs and bouncing like a loon on stage with his army of dub weaponries at many festivals throughout Europe during the summer.

For L/B014 Bulgarian musical genius and painter Cooh aka Ivan Shopov has found time in his busy schedule to cook up 4 tunes that show his amazing versatility and cunning production skills. Ranging from the trapped out influences of 'Duuure VIP', the remix of a legendary tune which was originally released on Position Chrome in 2008 and changed hard drum&bass forever, to the broken beats of '
'Propast' and stunningly avant-garde 'Sunshine Units' (a current favorite of The Panacea & The L/B Family), he switches effortlessly to the neuro-funk influenced 'Raised in the Sky', a collaboration with C.A.2K. from Russia, who recently has had a run of strong releases himself.

The sheer talent Cooh displays with his music is extraordinary but the fact he has been a renowned Painter, working with both pencil and acrylic, makes him truly outstanding. With the help of Photographer & Illustrator Tom Hamel and L/B Recordings Owner Limewax aka Maxim Anokhin, who models on the cover, the three designed a record sleeve that shows one of Shopov's latest acrylic paintings 'Propast', a colorful and somewhat aggressive work that speaks of passion and furor, in which he got additional assistance and input by Anokhin. An ultra-limited run of 20 copies will contain a signed print of the work by the two artists, making this EP a very special and sought-after project indeed.

lead track 'Big Dirty' has a got that dirty hiphop vibe but taking it to somewhere else. DJ Flight perfectly described the EP best by

Tape Pack could perhaps be Ulterior Motives biggest track to date. The pair grew up on a diet of classic dance music and because of this that they have been able to write such an authentic rave anthem, this track will resonate with all corners of dance music because simply this is where it all started.

The most stripped track back the pair have written so far, the vocal of James Sunderland illuminates a tribal beat with Detroit techno strings. As the track develops you soon realise it is about maintaining a strong discipline in its drums and bass whilst the fx and vocals light up the route.

In the wake of Blocks & Escher's recent outings on Metalheadz, Critical, and Zomby's Cult Music, Narratives present the first solo
excursions on the label from one of its founders, Blocks. Varied, emotive and beautiful, the Séance EP is innately Narratives Music in sound and yet unlike anything the label has delivered previously. The Séance EP fleets between ethereal vocals, forlorn strings and analogue bursts of glassy synths, while drum machines dance with live kits that would be fitting of 90s Mowax records. Bass lines loom heavy throughout, simple and driving rhythms that bed the delicate keys and story telling harmonics above. As immersive as it is succinct, Blocks has created an extended player awash with feeling and juxtaposition; again displaying why Narratives Music has been lauded across electronic music from the likes of Goldie and
Com Truise to Zomby and Rob da Bank. Forming the veritable gem of the collection, is the vocal laden 'Haven', a collaborative piece between Blocks and the hugely talented Jennifer Hall. Live instrumentation of bowed strings and bass provide canvas for the heart wrenching tones of Hall. Doc Scott describes the track as 'Deep, deep blues'. More akin to a personal reflection of the artist than the frenetic speed of a club, more Twin Peaks meets Portishead than dance floor energy; this is music at a Drum & Bass tempo by a producer that doesn't want to be caught in a debate on style or subgenre. In essence it seems to emphasise a recent quote by Blocks, 'Drum and Bass is anything you can get away with'. * HZN079 brings together two of Drum & Bass's most exciting proponents of the deeper side of the sound : Cern and Overlook. Tribal sounds and influences are rife throughout, effortlessly fusing with heavyweight beats to create two superbly crafted tunes.
* 'Nevada Ghost' : A haunting opening, characterised by organic sounds and samples and punctuated by the odd reverberated drum, builds up subtly, before giving way to the huge kicks of the main section. The omnipresent bass works in tandem with the drums to provide the foundation over which a multitude of sounds effortless swirl and flit.
* 'Decoy' : Melancholy pads and heavy drums set the tone early on. A variety of snares drive the tune forwards, whilst the understated sub rolls menacingly underneath. Distorted bass sounds add further weight, whilst cunningly worked samples maintain the interest throughout, ensuring that whilst stripped back, it is anything but simple or monotonous.
* Another wonderfully worked example on how less can be more, Nevada Ghost and Decoy are the kind of hard hitting tunes you would expect to hear in sets up and down the country. Full of driving drum riffs, sonorous subs and imaginative sample work, this is certainly not one to be slept on.
