DJ Vapours 36 Hertz Recordings push forward with its first release of 2010 and also the debut release from new exclusive signing Lutin. The A Side see's Lutin showing us his trademark heavy bass sound matched with some tearing synth action before the tune switches up into a nasty pitched reese bass. The flip side brings fast rising new producer HLZ back to 36 Hertz after his first release appeared on the massive 'Back To The Bass' LP. With a half speed synth lead intro that builds up into pure bass mayhem after the drop HLZ once again shows he is a man of many styles.

AA HLZ - Clash Dub

This is the vinyl installment of the '2nd Rate' project by Irish producer Polska. These tracks are slightly more dancefloor orientated than those on his 2xCD long player of the same name but it's still perfect for those who prefer the meditative side of electronic music. Opening with atmospheric strains, 'Setplace' is an incendiary piece of breakbeat D&B that alternates between darkness and light throughout. The constantly changing arrangement, sharp percussives and wandering bassline patterns keep your attention. Flip over for a special remix of Polska's 'Outvert' by king of the beats, Equinox. The stop / start nature of the original is transformed into a more rugged, rolling affair here which gets more adventurous and cut-up as it progresses. Sweet pads, strings and vocal snatches compliment the beats and the deep sub bass completes a real 'rough with the smooth' masterpiece. The third track '2nd Rate' also features on the CD version of this release and evokes images of a live jazz quartet on stage rather than a producer in a studio! The progression from nice-n-easy jazz to D&B onslaught half way through makes this tune an epic journey. Polska is coming from a different angle to most producers at the moment but this is certainly a refreshing take on the Drum & Bass sound.

A Polska - Setplace

Keepin' it nice and nasty Backlash hits you with their fourth outing for this Summer 2010. Kickin' things into high gear is the grimy rumble of Outrage's 'Make Or Break', which builds on a simply effective melody that gets your head noddin' and your waist windin'. Interesting tune to drop in your mix, with enough space to cause mass hysteria. Following that is another stellar collaborative banger from Digital and Outrage in the form of 'Stampede'. It builds like an oncoming rush of wild animals...the intro plays the calm before you start seeing a cloud of dust kicked up, heightening anticipation and fear, which climaxes in the rush of that sweeping bassline. When this one drops, you get two choices: move or move out of the way! Big boy riddims on both sides of this plate, which is par for the course when it comes to Backlash.

A Outrage - Make Or Break
AA Digital & Outrage - Stampede

Very limited white label. Rmxs 005:The 5th in the series sees Silver (Accidental heroes and Sonic and Silver) deliver his interpretation of 'jonny jungle' The original tune was from 1994 and was a huge hit back then! DJ Silver bring new life to the track as he brings it up to date... this has had massive support from all the heads in the scene. The flip is work done with good friend and fellow producer Lutin from France, as they come with a soul infused number called 'I Choose You' which was a hit originally by 'Wille Hutch' this tune is defo one for the summer time ladies.

Restless Natives Records was started back in 2004 in Edinburgh and has been flying the flag for Scottish drum and bass since. 'Mazzini' formally known as Tommy Knocker gets back on the buttons and produces this chirpy slice of Drum and Bass that has a definite summery feel about it. If you like electro sounding drum and bass then you'll love this.

Champagne continues his reign with his latest single 'Divine Inspiration'. The feedback coming in on the bass driven melodic tune by Champagne already has the masses moving. Get in tune with the sound as Champagne puts it down with correct techniques, continuing to push the envelope in drum n bass. BCee comes through and flips 'Divine Inspiration' on the remix tip. He rolls with an original swagger, but goes out of his way to push the boundaries of where the track could be taken as a remix. BCee is connected with Spearhead Records and is clearly set to do big things with the future sound.

Chowder and Sensa certainly do the business with this stompin release on DJ Flex's Source imprint. With the heavy beats and tearing bassline, Chowder is gonna leave you in need of a body bag and Sensa's 44 Mag will have the crowd shouting 'Pull Up!' every time you draw for this tune. Get Involved!

The VIPs of Ho Bass and Ghost Town have been firm favourites of DJs across the world for the last year. Kicking of proceedings are the Austrian super-duo Body & Soul who are drawn in to mash up label boss DisasZt and Infame's smasher from last year 'Oh My Dear' and the outcome is, rewind selecta! This gem is currently the weapon of choice for DJ's needing the destroy the dance and it's not hard to see why. Next it's the turn of Australian Phetsta of Technique Recordings fame who turns his hand to Camo & Krooked's 'Vampires' and comes up with a fun-fuelled romp, perfect for putting the smile back on your face after the grimacing A-side.

No strangers to the Stereotype imprint, DJ Pleasure and Origin return with their trademark sounds. Having built a reputation for bass heavy and down right dirty productions, this release maintains the flavour that is expected when you see these two producers' names on the sleeve. Turn up the subs and turn off the lights!

Jaydan takes the lead, cutting the vocals to a minimum and injecting some straight up filth. Powerful beats pave the way for wave after wave of sub low bass and instantly recognisable synths. If this one doesn't get the ravers jumping, we don't know what will. Next up, but certainly not in second place, the Slumdogz offer their own take on 'Cold Rock A Party' with gurgling end bar edits, furiously forceful lead lines and a skanking reggae influence. A contrasting, but equally devastating, remix to round off the 12''

So far 2010 has been a busy year for Spearhead Records, with the anthemic I Refuse from Netsky, Matrix & Crissy Criss on remix action and man of the moment S.P.Y. already having releases in the bag. With a whole heap of monster tracks lined up for the rest of the year though, it's straight back to business. This time Bristol's finest liquid lover Eveson steps up.

Marcus Visionary crafts 'Blackboard' for the a side of Lion Dub release 10. The US label has made quick work of getting this far and has been careful to drop one of their best tracks to date for this one, it's a proper jungle display. Goldstar teams up with Zero G on the flip, 'Skin Out' is a proper little skanker, been getting a lot of attention from Benny Page, Shy FX, Hype and more.

The Dirty Needle crew are back in action! This time Sensa and Garron are bringing you two fresh bangers from DJ Origin & Recluse. On the A side Origin's 'Slap head' begins with a suspenseful build up before catapulting you into a vibrant bouncy track that will have any club on its knees begging for more, on the flip is definitely no exception as the Dirty Needle team have gone all out to bring you a huge 12'', Recluse's 'Easy now' is true Birmingham grit in all its glory, the story begins with punchy drums and haunting, mysterious synths then before you know it the vocal creeps in, your waiting and you know the drop is imminent, 2 seconds later your up in the air riding a huge tsunami of bass that will completely annihilate any dance floor.

Original Sin shocked the world with his incredible debut album 'Grow Your Wings' just a few months ago. Now he's launching his own label with a pair of bangers so heavy you'll need a friend to help you carry them back from the record shop!

The debut 12 release on Hustle Audio is a dance floor must. By this I mean it's more than just a standard floor filling roller. The vibe on this release is second to none. With an old skool influence right from the get go, you know you're in for a nostalgic treat of the slickest quality. An essential pre Summer anthem.
