Bonobos "One Offs Remixes & B-Sides" Album enthält ab sofort nicht mehr den Amon Tobin Remix.

Time Being', originally released in 2003, was the first full-length CYNE LP, following a series of 12' singles for Beta Bodega's imprint Botanica Del Jibaro. This Project Mooncircle reissue marks the first time that this long out-of-print album has been released on vinyl. This deluxe edition includes a remaster of the original Time Being' album, previously released singles, instrumentals, and two previously unreleased bonus tracks ( Plain English and The Word'), both recorded during the Time Being' sessions.
CYNE's Time Being' lineup consisted of MC's Cise Star and Akin Yai, and producers Speck and Enoch. The four teamed up in Gainesville, Florida in 2001 and recorded African Elephants', which was quickly released as a 12' and set the trajectory for the group's course. Time Being' was created over the next year and reflects the musical and political environment of the time. Sonically the album showcases a synthesis of obscure samples
filtered through the eclectic influences of Speck and Enoch, while Cise Star and Akin Yai's lyrics cover a wide range, from conceptual, introspective, and spiritual ideas to the anxieties of post-9/11 xenophobia and being a black youth in America.

CYNE has continued to release music for more than 15 years, including projects for domestic and international labels such as Project: Mooncircle, Botanica Del Jibaro, P-Vine, Home Tapes, and City Centre Offices.
Although the group's lineup has changed for recent projects, all four members continue to work together, creating a reputation as artists that stay true to the lyrical power and gritty cut and paste aesthetic of classic Hip Hop while managing to explore new sonic territory.

Both CYNE and Akin Yai released new material in 2017, CYNE recently announced the second volume of their Wasteland' beat tape series, while Akin Yai's new album Romantica', primarily produced by Speck and Enoch, was released in April of 2017.

Time Being' is now available on vinyl for the first time. The exclusive remastered deluxe set comes out worldwide on limited green triple vinyl and digital.

Dr. Dundiff releases Muneybeats' as part of the Beats from Jakarta' series & continues what Ta-ku and Shuko started years ago.

Dr. Dundiff (done different) is a Hip-Hop/Neo-Soul producer based out of Louisville, KY. Dundiff has gotten into producing around 2010 and has been a busy bee ever since with a huge number of projects under his belt, from producing as well as him rapping.
Those who follow Jakarta Records might know the name from his ongoing collaboration with Otis Junior. They released their debut EP 1moment2another' on Jakarta Records receiving wide daytime airplay and recognition from French tastemaker Radio NOVA, as well as 1.500.000 Mio. Streams for their debut EP 1Moment to Antother' through Spotify & a placement on Radio Nova's le grand Mix 2016' compilation.

Muneybeats is Dr. Dundiff revisiting his roots in an all instrumental experience. Put the most attractive beats on top. The ones that make you pull the car over and go, 'Wow, I need this be a right now.' Those are the Muneybeats. Compact little tasty treats spanning a wide range of sounds while always sounding like Dundiff made them. He is currently also working on a new project with Otis Junior which will drop sometime in 2018 as well as their first Europe tour in summer 2018.

- Beats from Jakarta is a series Jakarta Records kicked off some years ago with contributions from Shuko and Ta-ku, heavyweights in their own right, and we felt it would be nice to bring that series back when Dundiff sent us his new album. So here we go. - Beats from Jakarta part 3....

Born in London, 1945, Labi Siffre's recording career has spanned over 30 years and produced a body of work that has attained anthemic status across the world. He has had two number one hits (directly and indirectly) and is considered by those in the know to be one of Britain's most important musicians of the past fifty years. So it's a strange modern quirk that his actual voice is rarely heard, as it is from covers and samples of his work that he is best known. You may recognise his genius being sampled by Eminen for 'My Name Is' or the Madness cover of his song 'It Must Be Love' that was a huge pop hit across the world.

For his release on Mr Bongo we have gone back to the original source - his classic 1975 release 'Remember My Song'. This is his fifth album and features 'The Vulture', 'Sadie and the Devil' and 'I Got The', sampled by Eminem, Jay-Z, Wu-tang Clan, Atmosphere, The Beatnuts and Frankenstein, amongst others. Co-produced by Derek Lawrence and Big Jim Sullivan - a prolific session musician, artist and producer - who also worked with artists such as David Bowie, Serge Gainsbourg (on 'Histoire De Melody Nelson') and Frank Zappa. Brian Bennett of The Shadows, Chas Hodges and Dave Peacock aka Chas 'n' Dave also feature on this funk masterpiece from 1975.

This LP is reissued in new and improved sleeves (made in Japan) and features label designs as per the original 1975 release.

Damon Dam-Funk' Riddick is the epitome of funk. Ever since debuting with Stones Throw in 2008, Dam-Funk has become one of the genres most passionate proselytizers, out to save it from devilish depictions of cartoonish caricature. To Dam, funk is a way of living, a feeling of struggle and staying cool through it all.' In 2013, he released his celebrated partnership with hip- hop's Snoop Dogg titled 7 Days of Funk. Fresh for '15, Dam returns with a solo project nearly six years in the making: Invite the Light. Dam-Funk grew up in the Los Angeles city/suburb of Pasadena. A '70s baby, he came of age in the era of the Uncle Jamm's Army parties, of electro-pharaoh Egyptian Lover, of Prince's purple reign. His parents nurtured his musical talents as a child and by his teens, he mastered the drums, then the drum machine. A chance encounter led to an apprenticeship under funk songwriter/producer Leon Sylvers III (SOLAR Records) and by the mid-90s G-Funk era in hip- hop, Dam found his musical skills in high demand by rappers such as Mack 10 and MC Eiht. Everybody was trying to do the live instrumentation thing, so then you got cats like me playing on records,' Dam explains. Sideman status wasn't enough though. Dam remembers watching gold plaques hitting the wall' for everyone but him and he decided to go full-funk' and make a do-or-die try to become an artist on his own terms. In 2006, Dam-Funk and a few friends launched the popular Funkmosphere party in L.A., bringing the boogie back. It's around then that Dam drew the attention of Stones Throw and both label and artist related to Dam's insistence that funk is not just a Jheri Curl. There was more than that.' Dam's partnership with Stones Throw has now included everything from his 2009 LP Toeachizown, to an anthology of early productions, Adolescent Funk (2010), to 2013's Higher and 7 Days of Funk. Invite the Light isn't just Dam's first solo full-length since '09, he thinks of it as his first fully-realized effort - a concise, beginning-to-end vision - that's resulted in a loosely autobiographical concept album inspired by the trials and tribulations of his personal and professional life of the last six years. As always, Dam flexes his multi-instrumentalist talents by handling all the production but still makes time for guests including rapper Q-Tip, the father-son duo of Leon Sylvers III & IV, and funk giant Junie Morrison of the Ohio Players, who opens and closes the album with dire warnings of what could happen in a world without funk. Rest assured, Dam is here to make sure that never comes to pass. As he puts it, funk is the underdog, the black sheep of black music,' and if that's true, Dam-Funk is its shepherd. 

Few artists can claim to have their own distinctive 'musical voice': a style of composition and production that listeners instantly recognize. For starters, it takes years of experimentation to perfect, and most people simply don't have the patience, talent or skills to pull it off.

Ali Kuru is one of those rare producers whose music sounds like nothing else around. The Istanbul-based artist has spent the best part of a decade honing his trademark style - a fragrant and intoxicating aural brew that combines a myriad of influences with atmospheric field recordings and snaking, mind-altering Middle Eastern instrumentation - via releases for the likes of Luxa Flex, Kalisah, Sound Architecture and, most recently, Leng.

It's to the latter label that the publicity-shy producer returns with his most ambitious release to date, Egzotik. 15 tracks and 70 minutes deep, it's not so much a debut album as a statement of intent. From start to finish, it feels like a humid, sweat-soaked saunter through the winding streets of Istanbul in the company of a musician who draws more inspiration than most from his immediate surroundings.

Those surroundings come to the fore on opener 'Bazaar', where tipsy horns and gently strummed electric guitar passages slowly rise above the sound of a harbourside market.

They're present, too, within the souk rhythms and cascading pianos of 'Zorba The Greek', beneath the gentle throb of 'Lost Bedouin', inside the spaced-out, stargazing pulse of 'Hiyar', and around the chiming melodies and mournful strings of hushed ambient closer 'Adios'.

Kuru's genius lies in his ability to take familiar musical tropes and twist them into unique, Ottoman-inspired shapes. So, while 'Tangerine Dream' doffs a cap to the stretched-out hypnotism of the legendary krautrock band of the same name, its reliance on backwards drum hits, locked-in grooves and psychedelic sample loops is a far more contemporary proposition.

Some may hear the influence of Detroit beatdown in the slow and dubby house grooves of 'Le Voyage De Space', while others could describe the drowsy 'Ashoka' as being Weatherall-esque. Yet none of these tracks, layered as they are with traditional Balkan, Persian and Arabic instrumentation, sound like anything other than Ali Kuru productions.

The result is an album that surprises and enthralls in equal measure. Highlights come thick and fast, from the bubbling, dub-house psychedelia of 'Mount Damavand' and haunting deep techno humidity of 'Sacred Vallley', to the Augustus Pablo-in-Ankara shuffle of 'Jungle Flower' and potent hookah hit of 'Return to Paradise', where sampled voices rise above a typically tactile groove.

After launching with a killer reissue of a private press gem from Morrison Kincannon, Spacetalk presents its' first compilation: a superb selection of soul, disco and boogie obscurities curated by noted Parisian crate-digger and DJ Jeremy Underground. Beauty has its' origins in a chance encounter between Jeremy and Spacetalk co-founder and Psychemagik Danny McLewin at Maceo's, Glastonbury's renowned backstage bar. Having completed his regular festival set - keeping the dancefloor moving with his more familiar house and U.S garage sound - Jeremy was treating the Maceo's crowd to a tasty selection of soul, disco and boogie obscurities. Danny was impressed, introduced himself to the My Love Is Underground label founder, and several hours later the duo had hatched a plan for Spacetalk's first compilation. Jeremy Underground is well regarded within the record collecting community, and counts a number of high-profile diggers' amongst his friends. He famously played alongside Red Greg at Floating Points' first You're A Melody party at Plastic People back in 2013, the four-hour recording of which is still available on the Eglo website. The Parisian is also no stranger to putting together high quality compilations, having previously mined his house collection for two volumes of My Love Is Underground on Favorite Recordings. Beauty, though, is the first collection to showcase the depth and variety of his record collection. Stuffed full of rare, hard-to- find and little-known gems, it confirms the Frenchman's status as one of Europe's most open-minded record collectors. Amongst its' 15 tracks you'll find the Creative Arts Ensemble's spiritual soul-jazz gem Unity', the samba sunshine of Leila Pinheiro, the folksy, Latin-tinged breeziness of Ron Rinadli's Mexican Summer', and the dewy-eyed, late night soul of Nu-Cleus's ridiculously hard-to-find Needing A Woman'. The beating heart of the compilation, though, is a selection of heady, heartwarming cuts that blur the boundaries between Philly soul, disco, jazz-funk and boogie. These include the sparkling, synth-laden 1981 boogie of Do Your Dance' by Shades Of Love (whose members included future '80s soul/disco star Meli'sa Morgan), the jazz-funk inspired library grooves of Christer Norden's Lay Back', and the smooth, post-boogie soul of Richardi Mac's superb Told You So'. Oh, and Let Love Flow' by Jamaican singer Sonya Spence, a deliciously sweet and loved-up disco-soul shuffler infused with the distinctive swing of the Caribbean. D-Operation Drop is a 6-man crew from Cesena, Italy with a strong and growing catalog of sound system killers, from orthodox steppers to dubstep abstractions and strange hybrids of the two. Recent releases on Moonshine, Artikal, and Lion Charge have cemented their position, and we are thrilled to invite them into the ZamZam fold with two chunks of 140 weight.

Warrior March' opens with a mesmerizing pad that immediately draws the unsuspecting into a unique soundworld and doesn't let go til the runout groove. A smeared, chopping-block snare, deep subsonic rumblings, swung percussion, massed yet minimal horns make a darkly coiled track, menacing yet full of funk and movement.

Sativa Team' captivates just as deeply with fewer moving parts, loping drums and leaden percussion, churning bassline, chopped and glitched JA-voices and sound tape, and ominous, clipped horns that wobble with tape delay in a strange airless void. Brooding yet cathartic, tripped out but fully physical, with both tunes D-Operation Drop display their total control over a restrained and powerful palette.

By now, the world is familiar with the extensive works of monsieur Dimitri From Paris. His prowess as a globetrotting DJ and taste-maker for over 20+ years, his reputation for the finer things in life, his sartorial style and of course most importantly his infamous remixes and Disco edits. Isn't it odd that until now, there hasn't been an official home for the man's stellar reworks It just doesn't make any sense. This is exactly the reason that he has decided to set up this brand new venture - Le Edits Records. Naturally, a high standard of quality is present with all Le Edits releases across the board - From sourcing 100% virgin vinyl used for pressing to the mastering through tape, to the beautifully crafted and designed 'tip-on' sleeves that were popular with record companies in the 1960's and 1970's, to the wonderfully imagined graphic design that adorns said sleeves - Dimitri has overseen every aspect of this, his first label.

New York Disco legends Odyssey have long been a cult group with dancers and DJ's. They've had numerous commercial and underground club hits throughout their career and they are still performing live and writing material today. 'Native New Yorker' - their first single, and surely their most well known record and biggest hit has always been a huge crossover record since it's release in 1977, a track you could hear in the clubs as well as on the radio and at neighborhood parties and weddings that has endured the test of time. No-one has ever had the opportunity to rework 'Native New Yorker', at least, not from the original 1977 tape. Until now. Dimitri has taken this evergreen classic and respectfully added his own classic touch and flourishes with an extra-special 'DFP Super Disco blend'. A beautifully fresh and original take on the Disco anthem, Dimitri's rearrangement is markedly different from the original '77 mix and pushes the track into exciting new territory. A masterclass indeed.
Joining Odyssey on this beautiful slab of wax is another monumental club classic, another track that will be familiar to anyone with an interest in Disco. This one is truly epic and has long found it's way into the bags of DJ's and the eardrums of dancers since it originally came out way back in 1979. It's been re-released so many times over the years with many different mixes due to it's continuing popularity and it has also been famously covered and in the pop charts. Ladies and gentlemen we give you a 'DFP DJ Friendly Remix' of Dan Hartman's 'Relight My Fire'! Again, with this reworking Dimitri has tackled the master tapes to give us his vision of the ideal mix. Dimitri has skilfully put the open drums right upfront in the mix making this a versatile cut for the DJ's, leading us into what is surely one of the most recognisable vocal vamps of all time courtesy of the legendary Loleatta Holloway. It's only a matter of time before the iconic piano break drops and we're in! This mix will surely cause the dancefloor to burn up. A high energy, roof raising version of an anthem.

MOONDUST releases a tasty jazz-reggae nugget from THE SLACKERS sax man and his world know all star band the ROCKSTEADY 7. RETRO INDIE DUB

One of the boldest new producers to broach the dub sphere in recent times, Jay Glass Dubs is subject of Dubs, a prime 'early years' survey of his work, compiled by Alessio Natalizia (Not Waving) for his Ecstatic label, and released quick at the heels of their ace TRAX set and Novoline album.
Written during what Dimitris Papadatos, aka Jay Glass Dubs, describes as 'an adventurous and bold period', and holding material variously issued by Hylé Tapes, THRHNDRDSVNTNN, and Seagrave between 2015-2016, the Dubs compilation frames a singular, stripped down take on classic dub forms, wherein Jay Glass Dubs perceptibly retains the sound's heavy function and mystic qualities, but subtly updates its palette with a range of nods to shoegaze, darkwave synth styles and weightless dynamics.
The results form a sort of ghostly, filleted subtraction of classic dub architecture, all plasmic tones and diaphanous, boneless structures buoyed by an often overwhelming, yet somehow intangible
bass presence. Beyond the obvious, thematic ligature that connects the material, which was all recorded within a very short period of time, the artist also suggests there is an underlying, encrypted similarity to the material which is 'merely apparent to me', and awaits much closer investigation from keen ears.
From Jay's eponymous 2015 debut for Hylé tapes, listeners will encounter the heaving smudge of Definition Dub, the serpentine, Coil-like digital delays of Grumpy Dub, and a grime drone drill Depression Dub. Off the II tape for THRHNDRDSVNTNN comes the darkwave synths and militant step of Magazine Dub recalling a gauzier Equiknoxx production, next to the bass-less scudder,
Detrimental Dub and the shoegazing bloom of Daria Dub, while his III tape tees up some abyssal highlights in the vertiginous Hilton Dub, the melancholy, Basic Channel-scoped scale of Sieben Dub, and the HTRK-eaque starkness of Everlasting Dub.
Exclusive to the set is Perfumed Dub, recorded in 2017 and pointing to vast, layered, atmospheric directions for a timeless project which is only just hitting its stride.

UK Dub pioneers Alpha & Omega (Greensleeves / A&O Records) represent the foundation of UK soundsystem culture and bass music. Formed in the 1980's and with over 30 studio albums to their name, A&O have not only left a lasting legacy but are continuing to do so via collaborations with some of the most established names in reggae, underground artists and newly discovered talent alike. A&O's brand new studio album 'One By One' is a nod to the classic A&O sound yet illustrates A&O's forward thinking and distinctive outlook on reggae music. Another A&O classic, and well worth the wait.

Producer Victor Ticklah' Axelrod is back with another supple Reggae delight. After the success of The Inversion's last collaboration with Bob & Gene, Axelrod once again takes a seat in the Producer's chair, this time with a tune a little deeper in the catalogue. Originally tweezed from the beautiful MO DO tape boondoggle, back in '05 - '06, this single has been a long-time favorite of the Daptone family.

One night in 1971, frustrated by their lack of the success, Bobby Nunn and Gene Coplin sat in the basement of 50 Orange Street and put together a record expressing said frustration. Equipped with only a guitar, bass, and piano - no drums (though you don't even notice) - the two crafted an immaculate slice of Soul, aptly titled It's Not What You Know (It's Who You Know)'. Fast forward 46 years, and now accompanied by the rocksteady rhythms of The Inversions - the vocal stylings and poignant lyrics are reborn, sounding as fresh today as it did when it was crafted down in that magical basement. The VERSION flip is a delay laden masterpiece produced and arranged by Axelrod. A must for fans of Dub and Reggae alike. A truly gorgeous record!

'Don't you know I love you' is A Relatively recent spin with O.G copies easily going for over $1000 and with good reason. A disco floater over some brilliant bass, I also edited the B side to remove the fade in so it can now be dropped easily in a club. Happy new Year.

Uptempo funk-soul 'Vou Morar No Teu Sorriso' is a real favourite of ours and a regular spin in DJ sets. Tough drums, breaks and percussion, big vocals, horns and bass. Taken from their self-titled LP from 1971.
Dancefloor Samba-funk-MPB business on 'Quem Vai Querer', originally released in 1977 on RCA. A rolling samba groove, layered percussion and a lovely lead vocal from Eliana build into a big chorus and increased drum pressure!

'Afro Rock Vol. 1' is one of the most important compilations of heavy original '70s Afro funk and soul to be released in recent years. Originally surfacing on Duncan Brooker's indie Kona label in early 2001, the album single-handedly kick-started the thirst among jazz, funk and soul fans and 'diggers' to rediscover lost music from Africa made during the '60s and '70s from a time when many countries were gaining independence and celebrating a Pan-African identity within their music. The album was one of the frst to reach a far different audience to the traditional 'world music' market and spawned many further projects and labels in its wake. A year later, the 'Nigeria 70' compilation surfaced on Strut and labels like Soundway and Analog Africa would continue to unearth amazing lost gems from the Motherland. The album is testament to the determined work of Brooker following several research trips, especially to East Africa - Kenya and Zaire. It brought to light East Africa's fnest funk band, Air Fiesta Matata, led by the recently deceased Steele Beautttah, 'The Nigerian James Brown' Geraldo Pino from Port Harcourt in Nigeria, and the storming Afro jam 'Yuda' by Dackin Dackino, a previously unreleased gem from Zaire discovered on a discarded reel. The album has remained infuential since its release with tracks appearing on other Afro compilations and on TV and the big screen - Jingo's 'Fever' featured in Kevin McDonald's 2006 hit flm, 'Last King Of Scotland'.Out of print since 2015, the album is being reissued on Strut in its original form with the extra dynamite unreleased psychedelic cut by Kenya's Ishmael Jingo, 'Keep On Holding On' taken from the original master tape. The package features the original sleeve notes by Duncan Brooker along with new additional notes providing further background to the album and tracks.

Closing out the year with a 4 track EP from producer Colm K. Inspired by a variety of styles and musical sources with one common thread throughout: samples. 2 tracks for the dancefloor and 2 dusty reprises, most of the music found here is a collage of sounds that zig zags from the soulful thump of Seeing to the laid back strain of Summary.

Tracy Island announces Episode 2 of the 10 piece concept series with 'The Unlimited'. This time the musical transmission comes from Beach Wizards, the secondary alias of the well renowned collective Seahawks, offering their interpretation of Island mentality. The release opens with the ever growing mood of 'The Diamond Sea' - 18 minutes of building disco strings and stabs, rolling bongos and percussion, and intermittent ambience with an A side offering a true listening experience. 'Don't you wanna get off.' Get out the city they called. The B side starts and ends with the lulling sound of midnight waves in a downbeat balearic boogie of rain chimes and head nodding subs. Between these tides interjects 'Lucky Dips' on the B2, with melodies from an aquatic saxophone from below the surface.

It represents the appreciation for the people/ideas/places that inspire us and push us forward. As a label we are proud to present a series of musical releases that showcase the artists musical & visual endeavors. The artwork is shot by the artist themselves & each release has an accompanying photo zine that acts as a visual story that compliments the music they wrote at that time. It was only fitting to have Ta-ku's friend/collaborator & band member, Kuzich to start this series off.

In between tours he has always been known to float & explore corners of the earth that lead him to meeting colorful personalties & creating soulful eclectic music. He's always hoarded his own music - which has lead to layers & layers of passion, perspectives & percussion. The 12' vinyl version comes with a visual zine - all of which photos are taken exclusively by Kuzich on film with his Ricoh GR1s point & shoot camera. The cover art was also shot by Kuzich on film at Mt Rinjani, Indonesia.

Some records are timeless and never age - "Happiness Is Just Around The Bend" by The Main Ingredient is one of those records. Originally released in 1974, "Happiness" was a record before it's time - had it been released a year later it would undoubtedly have been one of the first 12" discs - so as a result, most discerning DJs at the time chose to play the album cut.

The song is actually a cover of UK Prog-Jazz band Brian Auger's Oblivion Express's version from the year before but Main Ingredient took the song to a whole new level and, 44 years later, it has become one of the most revered dance tunes of all-time.

Main Ingredient were unlucky with 12" releases, which is why we're delighted to give "Evening Of Love" it's first-ever 12" release! Once again this was a 1981 album track which years later it would become a Modern Soul anthem and rightfully be regarded as one of their best records.

So this is how the story goes..a long long time ago in a galaxy far away, that is to say pre internet, 1995 or 1996 to be as exact as we can, all city co founder Splyce found himself on one of his regular record buying sojourns to NY. Approached outside Fat Beats by two guys, who had heard he was a DJ from out of town who were eager to spread word of their production work outside their homeland, they gave him a mix tape / demo of their beats. Named The Midnight Eez, from the Bronx, they were one of thousands of budding production units on Manhattan Island. The tape came only with a name and pager number and after finding the tape when moving house recently beeper number goes unanswered - we decided to put it out as it deserves to be heard. Hopefully this release will see them get some belated but deserved shine!
