Released late last year Tosca's 'Outta Here' saw the duo of Richard Dorfmeister and Rupert Hubert rip up the rule book and start again. Having spent two decades and seven albums practically defining downtempo, chill-out music here was an album with one thing on its mind, the dancefloor.
Still some traditions are worth maintaining and so like with each of their previous albums the band now present 'Shopska', a reworked version of 'Outta Here' that puts each of the albums tracks into a radically new perspective from tough 3am Techno and bouncy Electronica through to spaced out Dub and beyond.

The first instalment in our new 'Mr Bongo Record Club' compilation series - a selection of favourites, recent discoveries and sought after obscurities, which form the basis of our DJ sets and our radio show of the same name. Including cuts by Claudia, Cortex, Dave Pike Set, Fruko, Neno Exporta Som, Connie Laverne, Barbosa and more. The original concept for 'Mr Bongo Record Club' was a radio show that allowed us to air our treasured record collections, recorded and broadcast once a
month. We wanted to create an outlet free from any genre or BPM restrictions, not constrained by the need to beat-mix every record, a space where we could play latest finds alongside favourites. The only self-imposed rule being that it had to be played from vinyl. We have always DJ'd across-the-board, but playing in an eclectic way hasn't always been easy. Recently DJ's such as MCDE, Floating Points, Nick The Record, Leon Vynehall, Four Tet, Jeremy Underground, Antal (Rush Hour), Sassy J and Young Marco - to name a few - have opened things up with very diverse sets to younger audiences; Brazilian samba-rock, next to modern soul, highlife, disco, boogie, jazz, house, techno and beyond.   We're seeing a rare groove like sensibility. A shift towards the attitude of legendary club nights hosted by the likes of Mr Scruff and Gilles Peterson, where you could hear house, hip hop, Turkish funk, boogie, jazz, dub and Latin back to back. At the same time it isn't a nostalgic or retro movement, people have a progressive attitude and a thirst for new-old music. It is a vibrant and exciting time - we are proud to be a part of it.

Music and boxing have always gone hand in... glove. Whether on stage or on screen, a strong tune has always been an essential part of the gladiatorial experience and over the years, boxers, promoters and film directors have taken great care in selecting songs to inspire and intimidate.

Now, on the eve of World Heavyweight Champ Anthony Joshua's fight against anticipated opponent Wladimir Klitschko, comes a unique album The Greatest...Best Boxing Ringwalk Songs.

This 2CD set, the first of its kind, contains the most memorable songs - and one legendary poem - from the ring.

Both classic and contemporary fighters are celebrated: first up, The Greatest himself, Muhammad Ali, whose legendary poem, recited before Ali's rematch with Smokin' Joe Frazier, was first aired 45 years ago on the Michael Parkinson show (Oct 17th, 1971). Heavyweight hard man Mike Tyson used Cypress Hill's 'How I Could Just Kill a Man' as one of his ominous signatures, British superstar Lennox Lewis loved the music of James Brown and favoured classic slo-funk cuts such as 'The Payback' and 'The Boss'. '80s anthem 'Simply the Best' by Tina Turner is synonymous with Chris Eubank.

More recent stars are celebrated including British heavyweight hero Anthony Joshua MBE, who had his friend and leading grime star Stormzy perform a bespoke version of his song 'Shut Up' before AJ's clash with Dillian Whyte in 2015. The track, a b-side, entered the Top 10 the next week as a result of the fight's huge impact. We may see this repeated on 26th November ...

Tyson Fury, ex WBO, WBA, IBO, IBF Heavyweight and Ring Magazine Heavyweight World Champion - who is set to star in the new series of 'I'm A Celebrity', walked on to the Randy Travis cut 'I'm Gonna Have a Little Talk (with Jesus)'. Johnny Keating's 'Theme From Z Cars' is Tony Bellew's go-to song (also popular with his home team Everton FC). The classic 'Rock and Roll Star' by Oasis was used by fellow Manc and ex WBA Super Bantamweight Champion Scott Quigg. Ricky Hatton and David Haye, perhaps the two most famous British boxers of the last decade, are also checked, with Supra's 'Blue Moon' (Hatton) and McFadden & Whitehead's pop-soul smash 'Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now' (Haye).

2016 marks the 40th anniversary of the first Rocky movie, a film that contains possibly the most famous theme tune of them all, 'Gonna Fly Now' by Bill Conti. That song, with its triumphant horns and strangely soulful melody is etched into the memory of a generation. For some, it proved an inspiration. World middleweight champion Tony Bellew joined the dots between real life and Hollywood when he starred in the latest Rocky film, 'Creed' in 2015. I grew up on the Rocky soundtrack,' says Bellew, who played baddy 'Pretty' Ricky Conlan, I loved it. I didn't know anyone who didn't love it. Whenever I watch any of the films, I think to myself, I'm a Rocky bad guy now. I'm one of them. So, really, the Rocky music has defined my life, my life as a boy, and my life as a man.' (quotes from the album sleeve notes, written by Elliott Worsell).

Osbert Maddo (a.k.a Maddo, the Bionic Singer, Papa Maddo was brought up in Easter Kingston. He went to the legendary Alpha Boys Primary School and then to Excelsior high school. As a youth, he and his brother UU Maddo used to listen to Sound Systems such as Sir Stanford, Sir Norman Arrows and Phase 1. The sound Sir Stanford with who he used to sing initally transformed to Stylistics (Maddo's favourite singing group at the time) and a man called Danhai became the owner and DJ.
Cubiculo Records got in touch with Maddo on the Summer of 2015 to voice a 'Smuggel Riddim' by Casio Love, Maddo instantly fell in love with it and agree to work with Cubiculo and Casio Love to make his comeback tune as he didn't have any music released for years. After sending us the vocal Maddo was asking for the final mix every day and week as he was feeling the tune a lot and he wanted to start pushing it on the US, on the day we sent him the final mix we got the most unexpected and sad reply we could possibly be waiting for, Osbert had pass away the day before we finished the mix.

This is so far the most special release Cubiculo has done, it's more than a release, it's a tribute to this great singer and we are very proud to be releasing his ever last recording. Part of profits will go to his son and wife that have been supporting this release since we started to work with Maddo until today.

Bad Taste is beatmaker extraordinaire Josip Klobucar's radical stylistic shift into psychedelia, towards murkier, weirder and skewed sides of beats. With a mighty, estranged and saturated ambience. The D.O.C., short for Department of Correction, is a highly skilled battle rhymer from Dallas, USA. In addition to his solo career he was a member of the hip hop group Fila Fresh Crew and later collaborated with gangsta rap group N.W.A where he co-wrote many of their releases. After Fila Fresh Crew split up in 1988, The D.O.C. went on to pursue a successful solo career.
No One Can Do It Better is the debut album by The D.O.C. from 1989 and is produced by the then upcoming Dr. Dre who contributed on most of the fast hard hitting rap tracks with his heavy funk laden beats. The album reached number one on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart for two weeks and spawned two number one hits on the Hot Rap Songs chart: It's Funky Enough' and The D.O.C. & The Doctor'. The album went platinum five years after its release.

Tragically The D.O.C. severed his vocal chords in an almost fatal car accident in November 1989 but No One Can Do It Better still stands the test of time as one of the early pre- Chronic albums.

Sireli is the first release of Viken Arman's newly created record label. He will be gathering his closest friends on this project and was was joined by Bedouin, Mira, Christopher Schwarzwalder, Canson and Nutia for this EP. Sireli is an amalgam of Viken's unique folkloric and traditional crafted sounds. Drop of Raki is the result of an unexpected early morning collaboration with Jo.Ke and Iannis Ritter. The track goes deeper into Viken's armenian roots and oriental influences.

For it's third release, Sorry For This Records welcomes Italian innovator Roberto Clementi to its stables, providing two lush cuts of deep techno and then invites Steve O'Sullivan to slow things down a little...

First up Clementi bring us Sedate Love, a throbbing club cruiser with a constantly evolving groove-box. Organically morphing pad play and analogue percussion punctuate the rhythm stylistically whilst Roberto underpins the entire track with a thunderous, grooving sub bass! Whereas Start Not Straight, Clementi's second offering is a thumping analogue techno behemoth, underlaid rhythmically by bubbling acidic synthesis and resonant pad stabs.

Finally 90s UK dub techno legend Steve O'Sullivan once again breaks out the tape echo and dons his Blue train alias for a special ultra minimalistic dub version of Start Not Straight keeping the beats slow and the subs pitched even lower! Steve slowly releases heady passages of spoken word whilst giving the feedback on his delay unit a real workout! Real after hours stuff!

Reissue of this super rare 12" from the legendary Tapper Zukie! 'Visions Of Love' is a vocal lead groove fest, with bumping bass lines and throwback house beats, whilst the B-side lays out a dubbier version of the original. Proper floor filler material here! Comes in hand stamped, light brown sleeves. Limited and completely essential!

Over on the B-side we have the Mad Dog Fire Department's appropriately named "Cosmic Funk", a track that has shown up in the playlists of everyone from David Mancuso to Daniele Baldelli & beyond! A stomping, grooving jam laced with the FUNK. Serious business indeed, & both tracks are now available on one 12"!

NZ based artist Akcept joins up with AMIT's AMAR label for a journey into Dub/Reggae inspired Bass music. Akcept is an artist who is just on the cusp of breaking through having been picked up by Truth's Deep Dark & Dangerous label for their recent compilation and about to appear on NZ's very own Averted Vision label. A solid producer who's making his mark with this release.

Larry's raw songs capture the transition from R&B to boogie-down as disco was rapidly becoming extinct. They also perfectly illustrate Larry's ability to overcome his environment and discrimination, transcended by his determination to write and produce music. With the support of his faithful musicians, Larry's success was only hindered by lack of airplay and promotion, but his talent shines through. This is the story of Larry Dixon, his label LAD Productions, Inc., and his friends and family throughout four decades of music in Chicago's toughest neighborhoods. Jerome Derradji is proud to reactivate Past Due Records - the boogie funk division of Still Music to release this fantastic archive - what many consider to be the Holy Grail - of Chicago Funk, Boogie and Soul. 'Star Time' will be released in a limited 500 copies 10 X 7" Box Set, a limited 500 copies 4 LP Box Set, DCD and Digitally - all faithfully reproducing the vision of LAD Productions, Inc. There's a new (or old) family of funk in town and their history is kind of a mystery. Rumor has it The Le'Trells came close, but never were able to secure a record deal in their time. Curious and unable to locate any master tapes, it took a younger generation of Le'Trell boys to breath life back into the grooves and deliver an modern update to that which never was. ON THE ONE' is sure to be a Modern Funk Anthem', certified floor filler already making the rounds in Chicago, NYC, Detroit and LA with a moody sax filled B Side that hits just as hard in the club as it does in the whip! Here's to hoping the Le'Trell boys prayers are finally answered!

His music was very popular on the London Jazz dance scene in the late 80's and 90's and still is today having been championed by Gilles Peterson and many other DJ's. The song he wrote about the scene 'Ding Walls ' is included, this being the first time that track has ever been released on Vinyl. It takes a very special singer to take a well known Beatles song and re-interpret it with a Big Band arrangement, and make it his own. This Anthology closes with what has to be one of finest Jazz Vocal versions from their entire songbook, his take on 'Eleanor Rigby'.

Moreno, Kassin and Domenico were childhood friends from school. They formed a band and made three albums, each one under a different one's name. Their records are different and very influential in Brazil. Morneo is the son of legendary Brazilian musician Caetano Veloso. You can hear him at age 8 on the first Luaka Bop release ( Beleza Tropical') singing the words Ilê Ayê' on Caetano's song of the same name.

Moreno's record is to some extent the most conventional of the three, even though Domenico, the drummer, plays drums on a sampler and cymbal sounds using sand paper. The next release, Domenico's, had the greatest success in the indie world, while Kassin's album is the most produced (which makes sense as he has become one of the most successful producers in Brazil).

For the past four decades, a growing cult of soul music collectors have sought two obscure LPs and a handful of extremely rare 45s released on the vanity record label LAD Productions, Inc. between the late seventies and the mid eighties by the mysterious South Side Chicago singer/song writer Larry Dixon.
Larry's raw songs capture the transition from R&B to boogie-down as disco was rapidly becoming extinct.
They also perfectly illustrate Larry's ability to overcome his environment and discrimination, transcended by his determination to write and produce music. With the support of his faithful musicians, Larry's success was only hindered by lack of airplay and promotion, but his talent shines through.
This is the story of Larry Dixon, his label LAD Productions, Inc., and his friends and family throughout four decades of music in Chicago's toughest neighborhoods.
