Record Kicks proudly presents "CLBR35 Live From S.P.A.C.E.", the first official live album by Calibro 35 that will hit the streets next 21 October 2016 on ltd edtion LP, CD digipak and digital. After so many studio albums, soundtracks, TV programs and an incredible amount of concerts, "CLBR35 Live From S.P.A.C.E" is the very first live album by our cinematic funk champions. Recorded during two very special nights of the Italian leg of the S.P.A.C.E. Tour at BIKO club Milano and mixed by Calibro's head honcho and fresly grammy award winner, Tommaso Colliva at Toomi lab studio in London, it sees the Milan quartet joined on stage by Ottone Pesante horn session. Most of the tracks are taken from their latest heavily acclaimed studio album "S.P.A.C.E." but there's room for some Calibro 35's classics such as "Eurocrime", "Notte in Bovisa" and "La Mala Ordina" by Armando Trovajoli from their debut album of 2008.

Recorded at Quatermass Studio in London - the HQ of the British cult band The Heliocentrics, - the new album has been produced by legendary UK drummer and producer Malcolm Catto. Alongside the Heliocentric albums on Now Again / Stones Throw, Malcolm is responsible for producing great albums such as "Inspiration Information" by Mulatu Astatke, "Jaiyede Afro" by Orlando Julius and "The Last Transmission" by Melvin Van Peebles. Not only this but Malcolm regularly collaborates with artists such as Floating Points, Quantic, Dj Shadow and Madlib.
So a new producer and a new life for Hannah, who is also now backed by the Affirmations, her new super tight band from Bristol - who will be touring the record too. The musicianship has ramped up several gears since Hannah's first album, bringing a welcome flare of excellence which punctuates Hannah's heartbreaking vocals and embraces Malcolm's tight, psychedelic production. Mixed totally analogue, and mastered on tape, "Late Nights & Heartbreak" includes 13 tracks of visceral soul with a touch of psychedelic atmosphere - as evidenced by the first single:"Tame in The Water". The sound is tighter and punchier than ever before - a trait of the Affirmations which has been brought out in several mind-blowing tracks - like the 8+ minutes of "Still in My Head". Which grooves hard throughout, and showcases Hannah up to her most show-stopping moment on the album. "Woman Got Soul" is another 5 minutes of groovy, addictive proof that this is next-level for Hannah and her band. North Carolina based duo LegSweep Specialist has announced a full-length album, LegSweep for an Oct. 28th release date. To be released on Below System Records, the album is the first pairing of emcee Fuzz Jaxx and producer/emcee Sam Brown. For listeners who miss tracks with soulful loops, chopped breaks and conscious/down to earth lyricism, LegSweep is a much needed purchase. Though this is their debut as a group, both artists are Hip-Hop lifers who have paid many dues in the culture. Greenville, NC native Sam Brown has spent the last fifteen years mastering his rhyme-style and beat-making with the MPC. In love with the music, Brown headed to the mecca of the sound in New York City, where he assisted many sessions at the legendary Quad Studios. Fuzz Jaxx's career as an emcee stretches back the mid 90's in his hometown of Augusta, GA. As a member of Shaft he gained local notoriety and a following. Arriving in Wilmington, NC in 97, he has grown to a respected lyricist and cornerstone of the underground Hip-Hop scene there and in neighboring regions. Besides his solo work, some other Fuzz Jaxx projects have included the four man crew, N.H.A. and the live Hip-Hop fusion band, Organix. On the formation of LegSweep Specialist Brown relates "when I moved to Wilmington after being in New York, I met Fuzz. We really connected on an artistic level and while I loved him with Organix, this record is a showcase of him just going in lyrically. With this initial release we really found our groove as a duo and have already began working on Fuzz's next solo album, which I am executive producing."

Fans of Tramp Records may remember the band "The Bionic I". Their song "Disco Claus" was featured on the third volume of "Santa's Funk & Soul Christmas Party". Actually, the "City News" are none else than "The Bionic I"! Eric Dunbar, member of both outfits, got introduced to the piano at age 5. In 1969 he started playing music with the "City News Band", a New Orleans Rhythm & Blues band. "Bustin Up" is the side unless you like the Kung-Fu craze inspired "Chan The Man" that was around in 1975.

Washington, DC native Joe Quarterman had his first hit in 1973, an instant funk classic that was part of the capital city's red hot 70s funk scene. So Much Trouble On My Mind' is a party rocking anthem still being sampled and played over 40 years later. Fort Knox Five recently got Quarterman back in the studio to record a new song, the stripped down funk banger Don't Go.Over the past 13 years Fort Knox Five have been producing original funk music in Washington, DC, giving credit to DC legends like Joe Quarterman and Chuck Brown. Through the DC Funk Parade festival the two artists were linked up, a fusion years in the making. Having worked with legends like Afrika Bambaataa and others, Fort Knox Five are deeply honored to be working with Sir Joe Quarterman.The result of this collaboration is a modern funk anthem that will put the glide in your stride, just as long as you Don't Go'! Quarterman drops in with a classic funk delivery, complete with James Brown vocal stylings. He really belts it out, saying This funk will set you free, this funk is as good as can be.' Sir Joe's upbeat flow is perfect for the dance floor sensibilities of Fort Knox Five, who incorporated their own live elements into the mix. Available on limited edition triple vinyl (via DJ specialty shops) this is a compilation of nine tracks remixed (between 1979 and 1982) by Larry Levan, the DJ behind New York's famously influential nightclub, The Paradise Garage. Levan is a producer and remixer who, though he died in 1992, continues to be cited as one of the industry's greatest and most revered. Each of the nine individual full-length tracks was DIGITALLY REMASTERED specifically for this project. The sound quality is brilliant! The compilation comes complete with comprehensive liner notes giving the label's history, its relationship with Levan and anecdotes about each of the nine remixes and how each came about.
Originally released in 1999 this release has been fully re created for 2016. Released in conjunction with West End.

Four years in the making, Analog Africa finally presents the second volume of Africa's funkiest band, the mythical Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou.

Volume One (The Vodoun Effect - Funk & Sato from Benin's Obscure Labels, 1973 - 1975), released by Analog Africa at the end of 2008, was a collection

of amazing lo-fi recordings produced for various labels around Benin. Volume Two showcases superbly recorded tracks, courtesy of the EMI studios in Lagos,

Nigeria, one of the best studios in the region. All tracks here were recorded for the mighty Albarika Store label and its enigmatic producer, Adissa Seidou

Since its formation in 2008 the band has been taking the UK funk scene by storm, building a loyal fan base, again and again sweeping reviewers off their feet in a blitz of energy, showmanship and ferocious musical talent. The band is led by star drummer Pete Ray Biggin, the band's MD and predominant songwriter - a drummer of cult status as a member of the drummerworld elite, and a regular performer with leading bands, including Level 42, Incognito, Amy Winehouse, Chaka Khan, Lalah Hathaway and Mark Ronson.

Pieces In Space is the Don Giovanni Records debut LP from Sammus, the stage name adopted by Ithaca, NY producer, rapper, activist, and PhD student Enongo Lumumba-Kasongo. The Analog Africa label delves into the amazing history of music from 1970s Benin and Togo.
This compilation highlights forgotten raw and psychedelic Afro sounds, and the well-researched liner notes tell fascinating stories to accompany the mind-blowing music. The essence of Analog Africa is clear, searching in dusty warehouses for forgotten music to keep the sound alive!

While still in his teens in the mid-00's he began winning spoken word poetry competitions, including Brave New Voices International Poetry Slam Champion. He subsequently appeared on the final season of 'Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry' on HBO and performed at hundreds of universities across the USA. He has also toured in the UK and mainland Europe as Watsky with his band, most recently as part of 2013's Vans Warped Tour.

The release of 'x Infinity' has been preceded by the publication of George Watsky's debut essay collection, 'How To Ruin Everything' (Penguin Random House) on 14th June. It immediately entered the New York Times Top 10 Bestselling Non-Fiction list.

Three videos preceded the late August release of 'x Infinity', each of which has had 500K+ views on YouTube, while the album itself entered the iTunes UK HipHop/Rap chart at no. 3. A single entitled 'Midnight Heart', co-written and produced by Anderson .Paak, has been taken to UK radio to coincide with a UK tour in late September.

We dropped Bosq's Tumbala EP digitally late last year and the response was so wild that we decided it needed a vinyl release. So we pressed the 4 track hot pack of Multi Culti beats on a limited run of 500 jungle green records. In case you missed it, here's what the EP is all about: Soul Clap Records welcomes one of the most unique artists in the game and he goes by the name Bosq. A longtime Boston homie, Bosq (also known for his work with DJ Kon and the Whiskey Barons) first astounded us with his "Orquestra Y Madera" album (Ubiquity Records) which put a modern dance floor twist on Afro/Latin Funk and provided some of our biggest DJ bombs that year. Continuing to build the bridge we released his edit of Fela Kuti's Opposite People (Gator Boots), collaborated on "Higher" for our DOTC Vol. 2 compilation (Soul Clap Records) and we remixed his single "Bad For Me" from his sophomore "Celestial Strut" album (Ubiquity Records). This release is also accompanied by a sister record of remixes by Auntie Flo and Caserta on limited yellow vinyl.

The London duo return with one of the most crafty and emotive R&B records you'll hear this year.

Teased earlier this year with the slick intimacy of Completely, Alpines' sophomore LP Another River pares down the sound of their 2014 debut Oasis. This new effort is not so much the sound of a duo finding their feet, as it is an utterly standout performance from a couple of intrepid sonic experimenters subtly refining their craft.
Alpines' dab hands in studio has earned them an abundance of collaborations in the fashion world. Their futurist brand of production renders Catherine Pockson's R&B melodies into dazzling soundscapes, each thrumming with a life of its own.

The album is preceded by the release of Heaven, an anthem with towering vocal harmonies and a sly bass groove. The duo are masters in creating cerebral and inventive music without compromising on the simple unabashed joy of melody. Here we are given a master class on how to flip the script with Bob James' Nautilus' given the FLIPOUT treatment, chopping up many of the Hip Hop classics that have sampled it - watch out for a full breakdown on some of the popular blogs from the main man himself. This new album is my fourth tribute to the union between rap music and literature as well as my second concept album. The songs that compose all have a common denominator: the wind. The wind as atmospheric agent that despite her being invisible created the life and influence so much of our existence. The wind like never tired traveler can visit endless places, changing the contours. The thought of the mind as the wind, light now uncontrollable now. The wind as a narrative medium through which to tell complex phenomena such as literacy, "diversability", marginalization, forced marriages, the war brides, mental pathology in various forms. Finally the wind as poetry and resource: the title track itself is a tribute to a wind protagonist, Angelo D'Arrigo, flying with hang-gliding champion who died in 2006. All stories contained logs and have different influences and are influenced of different narrators as Biamonti, Bonnefoy, Curioni, Hesse, Rigoni Stern mixed in my head with historical insights and folk tales. The contents rap-accounts in the album are like so many places, near or remote, crossed by a same wind that changes name and characteristics but which performs a task that seems to be the inherent all along: to collect stories in her womb and store forever waiting for someone to want to read, there was almost a memory airflow the productions are entrusted largely beatmakers known to the national hip hop scene for their classic warm sound that blends well with my narrations. The strong gender identity of the instrumental bases and my technical attention in the opera building wants to be a demonstration, aimed primarily at younger generations, of how we can create hip hop music without neglecting concepts and references that can contribute to a wide-ranging cultural growth . Collaborations to the microphone over to my partners always (The Kattiveria and Dj T-Robb) and two talented female voices (Dia, Amelivia), is represented by artists that I consider among the greatest exponents of writing in high rap in Italy: Dargen D 'Friend, Ghemon, Grudge.

Nastradamus is the fourth studio album by American rapper Nas. It was originally scheduled to be released as a follow- up album composed of material from recording sessions for his third album, I Am... (MOVLP1643). Due to bootlegging of the material, Nas decided to record all new material under the title Nastradamus to meet its November 1999 release date

Soul II Soul's origins, were deep within the underground world of 1970s sound systems, a situation they immersed themselves in, then bust out into the mainstream in a way that was as unchanged as it was completely reinvented.

30 years on, there is probably no more appropriate way to celebrate Soul II Soul than Origins' combining of the old school medium with thoroughly modern packaging. Recorded over a weekend in late 2015 at Studio A, at London's iconic Metropolis Studios, an intimate crowd of 120 witnessed the full force of Soul II Soul's incredible live show as Jazzie, Caron, and the band, brought their 1989 debut Club Classics Vol.1 to live like never before.

This box set really is an up-close look at the musical brilliance that marks Soul II Soul as one of the greatest live bands in history.

The Bongo Hop is the new afro Caribbean project presented by french trumpetist Etienne Sevet. On Satingarona Pt.1, friends from his Colombian years, like vocalist Nidia Gongora (Ondatropica, Quantic) rapper Maikcel (Zalama crew), but also famous producer multinstrumentalist Patchworks (Voilaaa, Dynamics, Taggy Matcher, Uptown Funk Empire,...) among others, join in for his first musical travel diary, inspired by 8 years as a Cali resident. In this first project, you can hear his personal take on tropical tempos, as he launches a storm of infectious grooves - ranging from highlife, to vallenato-meets-dub, dance hall, afrobeat, or kompa, combined with warm horns.

The Coalitions (also known as The Rheel Menn) return with a brand new song entitled Nothin' Left 2 Do' a song recorded and produced in collaboration with Soul Junction Records during 2015 under the auspices of some of the City of Brotherly Loves finest musicians. The songs writers areLavern Bynum, Bruce Fauntleroy and Leroy 'Shu-Baby' Shuller. With the songs recording and mixes have been expertly done by producer, Craig White at Sound Doctor Productions LLC. Craig being the former studio manager at the world renowned Gamble & Huff studios. The mastering was done by Peter Humphrey's at Masterwork Recording (USA).


2016 finally sees the initial release of Nothin' Left 2 Do' a song of forlorn hope for a former lost love, that's oozes class from the opening horn riffs executed beautifully by Henri McMillians UGO Horn Section. But despite the songs sad lyrics the overall mood of the track is very pleasantly uplifting. The line up on this song features Philadelphians Leonard Deans, Tony McFarland, Bruce Fauntleroy (the songs co-producer), Alan Williams and Tony Anderson (a.k.a Tony Talent) who's vocal ability is a throwback to the days of when nearly every street corner in Philadelphia would resonate to the all male group harmony sound.

A sound that these five gentlemen still regularly perform as a latter version of one of Philly's finest harmony outfits 'The Intrigues' in the 360 Lounge of The Parx Casino.

The b-side of this single features the now familiar Didn't We Almost Make It' a previously unissued 1979 recording that gaine its initial release as the opening track on the Coalition's previous unissued album project Colour Me Blue' (SJLP 5006) released during November of 2013. Although the whole of this acclaimed album received extensive airplay it was the opening song Didn't We Almost Make It' that really caught DJ's and radio listeners imagination and prompted callers to beg the question as to whether we (Soul Junction) would ever consider releasing it as a 45 vinyl single, a call that we hope has now been answered. A slightly earlier and different line up recorded this song Tony Anderson (Talent), Alan Williams, Bruce Fauntleroy, Milton Williams and Stephen Ferguson being the performers responsible.

The last year has seen Zion Train's 5th tour of Japan, 2nd tour of Australia and first tour of China as well as another packed European festival and club circuit. We celebrate with the release of this 3rd remix album featuring luminaries such as Dub FX and Vibronics - from
Dub to Drum and Bass.
