Collectable Vinyl Reproductions Of Big Bucks Classic Northern Soul

The band members of Exit 9 were incredibly young, their ages ranging from just 16 - 20 years old when this record came out. Despite their youth these young cats from New York released a highly accomplished debut LP in 1975 on the Brunswick label. Originally known as Qualified Funk, at the time of this finely produced record, they were 9 members deep. The album is solid and kinetic from start to finish. It's polished, powerful, brassy and funky as dirty dishwater. Like Tower of Power on speed, it's has brass to die for.
The two standout dance tracks from the LP are featured on this 45 and are just total fire. I Love You! Love You Completely just builds and builds with huge anticipation that glides into a funky disco dancefloor destroyer that's up there with the best. Miss Funky Fox does not let the pressure of for one second with it's perfect dual guitar lines and smart tricky timings that bring a smile to your face as you get lost in amongst it. Huge spin for myself (Fryer) and Ian Wright, now it's on 7 it's time for your turn too!

Born 1914, Sonny Boy Williamson I was one of the pioneering first wave of bluesmen to achieve a level of success and national notoriety as a recorded artist. In his all too brief life and career, Williamson popularized harmonica blues and after landing in Chicago in 1934 became one of the key movers and influences on the cities now infamous blues scene.
Both sides here were cut in 1947 and showcase an evolving sound which was to be tragically cut short when Williamson died a year later at the desperately young age of 34. Williamson's influence and popularity always remained as blues and R&B performers through the 50s and 60s continued to reference and cover his work. 'Polly Put Your Kettle On' was in turn rediscovered and became something of a club favourite on the roots music scenes of the 80s and has long since continued to light up the floor as the quintessential early 'Blues Bopper'. The fact that it was issued in '48 on 78rpm only has meant that this classic has never had a proper DJ friendly 45rpm issue - and the same goes for the hep shuffler 'Mellow Chick Swing' ... Until now!

“Better Than Real Life”, the third album by London duo JetTricks has just been released. Key tracks like ‘Love Hangover’, ‘Slow Dance’ and ‘Love So Simple’ have been picked for countless worldwide compilations and the JetTricks sound has earned support from the best ‘taste-makers’ on the airwaves!

True heavyweights in the Hammond Funk category, The Getup are fast establishing a reputation for irresistible grooves, infectious melodies and energetic performances that have been shaking dance floors since 2004. They came to our attention due to a stunning set a few months ago at Breakin Bread's residency at The Blues Kitchen and we are proud to release their latest studio excursions.
Their first release in a series of 7"s for Breakin Bread showcase their sound perfectly. A Femme Funk Groover on the a side and Heavy Hammond Funk on the flip.

A rare 1965 trio recording by piano legend Dom Salvador. Features Edson Lobo (bass) and Victor Manga (drums).
This album fuses the hard bossa trio sound, that was just starting to become a major force in Rio, with pure melodic jazz. Lobo's double bass playing adds depth and colour that other bossa trios could not match. This is the greatest jazz album to come out of Brazil full stop

Coming out with one of the most anticipated and long-awaited albums so far on Brainfeeder is Samiyam aka Sam Baker. 'Sam Baker's Album' is 40 minutes of pure listening pleasure, a series of woozy, off-centre hip hop instrumentals drawing heavily on Baker's love of electronic funk but never in hock to it. Intensely detailed and carrying considerable emotional weight, this is not 'Rap Beats Volume 2' but an album of fully-realised pieces of music which stand on their own without the need for an MC's intervention.
Ann Arbor native, Samiyam (born Sam Baker) moved to Los Angeles in 2006. In his short time out West, he has become one of the city's most progressive and recognized producers, a man who has spearheaded the revival of interest in instrumental hip-hop music over the last few years. Baker's 'Rap Beats Vol.1' collection was the very first release on Brainfeeder. He has also collaborated with old friend Flying Lotus as Flyamsam as well as having releases on Hyperdub and Poo-Bah records.Samiyam describes the work contained in his "Debut album" simply as, 'my favourite stuff' - and what could be better than that

The earlier works of the Hungarian dj/producer duo called Savages y Suefo came out on UrbanWorld Records. Now, they continue their mission at Agogo Records with a nice 6 tracker vinyl 12". Side A contains three own tracks with guest vocalists like Judie Jay and MC Guacho. On the flip side you can find a self remix and two remixes from Rube and Renegades Of Jazz. The 12" is a melting pot of swing-hop, electro-swing, downtempo, dub and latin music.

Bringing us right up to date we have the alliance between Funkshone and Kenny Dope Gonzalez. Although aware of the work of Funkshone to date, Kenny recently revisited Purification and felt the need to remix this like many other Funk classics within his enviable catalogue and presents to you a continuation of an obscure Funk masterpiece and a worthy answer to Purification Parts 1 & 2; Purification Parts 3 & 4. While not many works of any genre come in 4 parts, this one does and is sure to set dance floors ablaze across the globe."

*During the gap of nearly 10 years since their last release, Fontanelle has been trying to transport themselves back in time to 1973 into Patrick Gleeson's Different Fur Trading Company studio. With the help of Randall Dunn's expertise (sunn O))), Black Mountain, Wolves in the Throne Room), it sounds like they made it!
*Rex Ritter's tour of duty with sunn O))) during Fontanelle's hiatus seems to have irreparably changed his DNA, as well as the band's. Adding an amazing array of horn players (many heard on sunn O)))s; Monoliths & Dimensions), Fontanelle has conjured a burly fusion jazz sound that has been dubbed, 'White Magus.'
*Gentry Densley (Eagle Twin), Steve Moore (Earth, sunn O)))), Hans Teuber, Eric Walton (Skerik), Jef Brown (Jackie-O MF) and Dave Carter are all featured on Vitamin F. The band, based in Portland OR, is comprised of Andy Brown (Jessamine), Rex Ritter (Jessamine, sunn O)))), Paul Dickow (Strategy), Brian Foote, Nudge, Leech), Mat Morgan and Borg Norum.
*The BLACK vinyl version of this greasy-groovy masterpiece of fuzzed out funk is imited to a one time pressing of 1,000.
