Kuzich (Perth, AUS) is no stranger to the music industry - having toured extensively as a drummer with acts like Tame Impala, Ta-ku, Drapht, The Growl, Cameron Avery.
823 is a creative label founded by the artist Ta-ku & also the numerical representation of the phrase 'Thinking Of You'.

It represents the appreciation for the people/ideas/places that inspire us and push us forward. As a label we are proud to present a series of musical releases that showcase the artists musical & visual endeavors. The artwork is shot by the artist themselves & each release has an accompanying photo zine that acts as a visual story that compliments the music they wrote at that time. It was only fitting to have Ta-ku's friend/collaborator & band member, Kuzich to start this series off.
Ta-Ku: Kuzich is a multi-faceted, multi-talented multi-vitamin.
Equal parts down to earth and otherworldly.
Having spent years traversing the earth, making sonic accompaniments for untold tales, his dusty backlog is finally being excavated from the basement.
Dawn Chorus chronicles the absurdity and beauty of the everyday.
Take a minute...
With Kuzich first official release, we get a taste of his unique versatility & multi-instrumentalism in every track. The Perth (AUS) born musician is no stranger to the music industry - having toured extensively as a drummer with acts like Tame Impala, Ta-ku, Drapht, The Growl, Cameron Avery & many more. In between tours he has always been known to float & explore corners of the earth that lead him to meeting colorful personalties & creating soulful eclectic music. He's always hoarded his own music - which has lead to layers & layers of passion, perspectives & percussion. The 12' vinyl version comes with a visual zine - all of which photos are taken exclusively by Kuzich on film with his Ricoh GR1s point & shoot camera. The cover art was also shot by Kuzich on film at Mt Rinjani, Indonesia.

Unreleased Hip Hop demo from unknown NY production duo - 95/6 we think. .Images from Ego Trip photographer Sue Kwon!
So this is how the story goes..a long long time ago in a galaxy far away, that is to say pre internet, 1995 or 1996 to be as exact as we can, all city co founder Splyce found himself on one of his regular record buying sojourns to NY. Approached outside Fat Beats by two guys, who had heard he was a DJ from out of town who were eager to spread word of their production work outside their homeland, they gave him a mix tape / demo of their beats. Named The Midnight Eez, from the Bronx, they were one of thousands of budding production units on Manhattan Island. The tape came only with a name and pager number and after finding the tape when moving house recently beeper number goes unanswered - we decided to put it out as it deserves to be heard. Hopefully this release will see them get some belated but deserved shine!

Sergio the french rabbiut is back for more trapped hands !! 12x Skipless for scratchin' from Ugly Mac Beer ! take care ! If you leave your hands on... you'll hurt :! be fast !

The warm dim light of the bedside lamp conjures up a kind of shadow theatre, sends the little stars on the ceiling into a spin, and fills the bedroom with a sense of profound peace. A small music box rounds out the evening atmosphere with soft little melodies. Perched at the side of his daughter's little bed, he watches over his little beat princess' slumber and her dreams, all while enjoying with satisfaction the unencumbered lightness of being at night...

The EP Hannah by the Leipzig-based beatmaker Duktus is a musical tribute to his three-year-old daughter and a personal instrumentalization of fatherhood.

A story told from Duktus' point of view in six different pieces, we can become part of little Hannah's world, as she plays in her room and runs around the playground, goes on adventures during the day and dreams at night.

In EP Hannah, Duktus casts his musical gaze backward in two different ways - both in terms of the experience of being a father and the moments, great and small, that this involves, as well as in terms of his musical influences over the past three years. This produces an atmosphere which, however, does not waver from Duktus' musical direction between uptempo broken beats and downbeat house grooves.

The EP Hannah cover was painted by Hannah herself at the age of two. And it is being produced in a complicated silk-screen process, printed in purple - Lila's favorite color! - on uncoated paper, making for a tactile homage to the little beat princess.

It is only a matter of time before Hannah discovers the record for herself as well. She already got her own record player as a present - from her dad, of course - and is a big fan of old fairy tale records. In the eyes and ears of a DJ and beatmaker, this is all a matter of early musical education.
- I dedicate this record to my daughter Hannah'

Originating in a New York apartment and completed in a garage in suburban Sydney, Jonti's new album Tokorats is out on Stones Throw Records on 3rd November 2017. 'Eye Contact' comes 18 months after the release of his debut smash LP 'Chaos 93', which left a massive dent in the scene. 'Eye Contact' showcases his signature rapid-fire flow like never before, as he seems to even surpass the speeds demonstrated in his 2015 breakthrough debut single 'Walkin' (4m+ views on YouTube). In late summer 2016, Unilad posted an article claiming that Ocean Wisdom had dethroned Eminem as the 'fastest rapper' after managing to fit an impressive 4.45 words per second into his track 'Walkin' compared to Eminem's 4.31 words per second in 'Rap God'. This article and ones of a similar nature would go on to become viral, drawing praise for Ocean Wisdom, as well as being shared and commented on by some of the industry's forerunners such as The Game, D12 and Akon. It's hard to imagine that he could develop his speed further still!
To celebrate the release, we have also decided to release a limited run of 500 hand numbered 7 vinyls which feature 'Eye Contact' and a vinyl only exclusive remix by Strange U's Dr Zygote!

10 years after Blu and Exile released their magnum opus Below the Heavens, the California duo have reunited to release 14 tracks from the original 2007 sessions. In the Beginning: Before the Heavens contains previously heard songs and unreleased gems - the best of the best chosen from over 40 songs in the vault. Their third collaboration follows 2012's Give Me My Flowers While I Can Still Smell Them, and is slated for an October release. In The Beginning: Before the Heavens is made of up songs that are raw and untouched, keeping the authenticity of Blu and Exile's creativity at the time. The album has guest appearances from familiar names like Dr. Oop, Donel Smokes, Aloe Blacc, and Blame One. While Soul Provider,' Another Day,' and Party of Two' appeared on Blu's Lifted EP, the majority of these songs showcase Blu rapping at his peak, maintaining his underground attitude as he dishes on reaching star status ( Constellations'), getting radio play ( On the Radio'), or opposing views in a problem-ridden world ( You're Gonna Die Someday'). Exile, meanwhile, builds a golden hip-hop era feel with head-nodding samples and DJ scratches. In addition to releasing In The Beginning: Before the Heavens for their fans, Blu and Exile are continuing their celebration of Below the Heavens with an anniversary tour. After such a huge turnout for the duo's Below the Heavens anniversary show at the Regent Theatre in L.A. in July, they decided to take the live experience on the road with Dag Savage, Choosey, and Cashus King.

Composed of members Buckshot, 5ft, and DJ Evil Dee, Black Moon simultaneously kicked off and defined the rap renaissance of New York with the release of Enta Da Stage in 1993. Whereas plenty of earlier groups had spit rage-filled rhymes to tear down the world's unjust establishments, no one had evoked brooding pathos or introspective anger quite like Black Moon. Underground hip-hop might have been dominated by the sunny sound of G-Funk when Enta Da Stage dropped, but from then on the scene turned to the dark side. Black Moon was rising.Earlier this year, Fat Beats Records presented the definitive Enta Da Stage box set, which was reissued for the first time across three formats (6xLP, 3xCD and 3xCassette). This album is the complete encapsulation of an era for anyone seeking to understand the origin and the essence of New York's Golden Age.The box set included vocals, instrumentals and remixes plus extensive liner notes by David Ma (Pitchfork, Wax Poetics) with rare and unreleased visual ephemera in an 18 page booklet. The story of Black Moon, alongside their peers Biggie, Big L, Nas, Kool G Rap, and Wu Tang, reminds us that the bleakest times produce the most profound agents of cultural change. And as we stand at the precipice of a new age of anxiety, Enta Da Stage has never been more relevant... or more necessary. Although Black Moon would go on to release three more albums - and its members would go on to greatness with Da Beatminerz, Boot Camp Klik, and various solo projects - Enta Da Stage remains the perfect distillation of tight lyrical menace, rowdy crew hooks, stripped down breaks, and deep basslines on all of its fourteen tracks. Although Enta Da Stage might stand in the shadow of East Coast albums such as Enter the Wu- Tang (36 Chambers), Illmatic, Liquid Swords, Ready to Die, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, and The Infamous, history will remember that Enta Da Stage preceded those releases. To understand Enta Da Stage is to understand the origin and the spirit of New York hip-hop once and for all.

Instrumental + song + acapella.

Chicago rapper / producer Saba is still only 23 years old, but he's already established himself as one of the most forward thinking young talents in Hip Hop. Having come up from Chicago's Westside, he already has a few mixtape under his belt, and has been working with Chance the Rapper since the Acid Rap days, and most recently he sang the hook on Chance's track Angels.
Bucket List Project, Saba's debut and breakthrough album, dropped in October 2016, to critical acclaim. Saba handled most of the production duties on the record, with guest spots coming from Twista, NoName, Smino and more. The album finds the right balance of playful, youthful exuberance, poignant lyrics, and Hip Hop laced with Jazz and Soul influences, showcasing Saba as another rising star in the vastly talented Chicago scene.

Slowly And Surely Greatest Heats is what u get when ever you thought what could happened with the instrumental parts of the 90's rap. This is also the way to fill the subjectively perceptible gap in the current beat music tendencies. SASGH is a kind of vision of the future of the past in the context of the present, related to Frank Ohara's poetry. Metaphorically, this is a B grade, sci-fi movie from the late 20th century, dealing with the everyday (favorite rapper's theme before they moved out of the blocks). The eclectic character of the beat tape is not only the selection of samples, but also the attempt to devote attention to a wide spectrum of sensations and situations. Appeal to Black culture is intertwined with the storytelling of the necessary minimum to revive the imagination and to create visual tales. The title is a celebration of constant expectation, which by its active form is not so pleasant as necessary to maintain a balance of life, but also highlights the compilation character of the mini album.

Produced in limited run of 100 yellow cassettes with artwork designed by Polish illustrator Michal Loba. Each item includes a free digital download code.

A collection of prev. unreleased cuts from ANDREI's early hip hop days (2003-8). Some big bad sample tracks with chunky hip hop beats. Two rap remixes of MF DOOM and SUPASTITION and two cuts more in the vein of CUT CHEMIST or RUCKUS ROBOTICUS full of movie samples. GAMM fans should dig this. Out on March 4 from GLENVIEW. Seriously dope. Don't sleep on this!

* Mixmag Album of the Month (Feb 2015)
* FACT magazine - '20 albums coming out in 2015 that we actually give a shit about'.

* The Mainframe is the bold new vision from Joker, a conceptual piece produced as a cohesive body of work as opposed to a collection of standalone DJ weapons.

* The sophomore LP from the man who spawned the electronic music sub-genre purple, which is now galvanised internationally with artists such as Flume, Ganz and Djemba Djemba all drawing inspiration from productions of the 26 year old Producer / DJ .

* The Mainframe is a listening album as much as a dancefloor album it and hints at what a Joker produced mainstream artist album would sound like with moments like 'Wise Enough' feat Zak Abel, 'Lucy' feat Sam Frank and 'Love' which features, winner of Dutch X Factor, Rochelle.

* Since releasing his last LP The Vision, Joker real name Liam Mclean has released a slew of productions to set the scene for this release including the Masato Nakamura inspired 'Joker Drive', Swindle collaboration 'Let It Be Known' and perhaps the biggest insight as to what to expect from this album, 'Digital Mainframe'
The Mainframe is designed to play like a digital dream with each track bleeding into the next pulling the listener deeper into the imagination of the Bristolian futurist in similar fashion that Robin Wright is pulled into an acid trip world in the Ari Folman flick, The Congress.

* 'I want everybody to listen to it once from start to finish, in their whip, in their yard, in their studio, going for a run whatever... cos that's how I intended to bring people into my world. After that pull it apart however you want, put specific tracks in your playlist that suit your mood, your lifestyle cool but this is my A/W 15 collection, take it in as a whole and you'll be able to get more from the individual pieces' - Joker

* In a world of increased immediacy the legitimacy of the album is being questioned in any domain that dinosaurs would consider mainstream or popular culture. Inversely, the internet and cheap travel is allowing underground communities and their ethics to penetrate and shape the mainstream more rapidly than ever before. Whilst the LP is still a valid format in the underground, The Mainframe provides a multicolour glimpse into the mind of Joker and future of modern pop music.

*Super limited box set version - only 150 in the UK!!! Box set include: 2LP Gatefold (purple Vinyl), CD Album, CD Album in Papersleeve (Instrumental), Wu Tang T-Shirt (black, one size),Comic-Poster, Wu Tang Rolling Paper

This rare 12" outing from Rocafort Records features the rapping and production talents of Andy Cooper (Ugly Duckling/The Allergies). Taken from the forthcoming album 'The Layered Effect', both tracks throw you around the hip hop boxing ring, slapping you hard with the prerequisites needed for microphone supremacy. Lyrically tough and musically nimble, Andy swings at you somewhere between the artful dodger and a heavyweight pugilist.

The irresistably bouyant 'Here Comes Another One' opens by means of an elegant old jazz trumpet whose player states "rhythm is my business". Get the picture It's a choppy, jazztastic journey. Cleverly underpinned by a gorgeous jazz piano, horns, sharp beats and aural treats, suddenly mashed up by a reggae toasting session on speed courtesy of Blabbermouf.

'The Perfect Definition' has a heavier step and a more serious punch. Fresh and funky attitude meets a deeply earnest reverence towards microphone art, a theme echoed throughout the LP and cherisheddearly by Cooper.

Two tracks that certainly roll with the punches.Out in November. A sure tonic to the winter blues.

Fresh off the high of having worked with Faith Evans and Lil Cease on a track featuring an unreleased Biggie verse, "Composure" is the first EP produced by L.A.'s Beatnick Dee since his debut album "Creative Medicine". Written out of a spirit of restlessness and a period of personal transitions amid America's chaotic political climate, "Composure" was created during a time of major life transitions for Kentucky rapper Allen Poe. Having partnered with Netherlands based label Below Systems Records, their new EP "Composure" sits at the intersection of those two paths, bearing out the soul of a rapper over the nuanced technical and creative techniques of a producer, both looking to take the next step amid growing accomplishments. Handling consistent success and speaking on failed social realities, the abstract notion of composure while figurative as an EP concept, often stems from literal obstacles for the artists.

Separated by 1,500 miles, perhaps Allen and Nick shouldn't have meshed so well, but with Dee's experience as a crate digger and sample dealer combined with his technical precision to craft a range of sounds fitting for Poe's honest, every-man approach to songwriting, the EP carries timely messages and storytelling nuanced by America's stormy social climate that packs modern substance and behind classic styles. Features from Cashus King (FKA Co$$), Deacon The Villain of CunninLynguists, Versailles The Everything, Cashius Green and Kem Kola were thoughtfully tailored to fit outside artists to Poe's message and Dee's musical composition.
