It's fair to say that veteran Portland rapper Vursatyl has been making major waves of late, with praise and support for his 'Crooked Straights' coming from Kenny Dope, Okayplayer, 2DopeBoyz & Urb magazine among many others. Off the back of a world tour supporting the mighty Blackalicious and in response to popular demand, we've decided to press two very special new remixes on strictly limited 7" vinyl. First up, NY legend DJ Spinna lends his deft, soulful touch to 'I Got It', which summons up memories of the golden era with its deft, conscious lyrics and jazzy, off-kilter beats. On the flipside, underground stalwart Jake One takes control, serving up a fiery version of tongue-twisting lyrical missile 'Bring It To A Halt' with a side order of heavy drums and clinical cuts from DJ Flip Flop.

Joker Starr returns as Billy Bang Banger in the follow up to the classic "Lost tribe of the leng" with "Shottas".The single from the Boot concept EP "Billy Bang Banger", Shottas has been rocking dancefloors for a while now!

Produced by Zygote and Jazz T this killa track shows Joker Starrs outstanding versatility as an MC !

'Who's this guy What's he doing' So runs the opening line of Lamont's debut EP on Keysound Recordings - and well he might ask. After his first release in 2014 on Bristol's excellent Durkle Disco imprint - run by Keysound Sessions host Koast MC - Lamont focused on writing these four startling tracks for Keysound Recordings. And focused they are. The EP is a bold exercise in blatant contradictions. It's grimey but sonically spacious, house 'n' garage tempo but near zero-point energy, arresting but unexpectedly anthemic. Despite featuring two emerging grime MCs - Grim Sickers and Trim-affiliate Nico Lindsay - they are just as musically close to LV & Josh Idehen's '38 EP' on Keysound or the darkest Wen material as Trim's classic Soul Food mixtapes. The track 'In the Field ft Nico Lindsay' was debuted at Keysound Sessions by Lamont and was defacto signed before it had even run out. 'Death Slide', first played on Dusk + Blackdown's Rinse FM show, has become an unlikely anthem, with support from Kahn & Neek, Loefah, Parris and Riz La Teef.

Previously released on 2001's 'Petestrumentals' album, this fiery slice of authentic hip hop features Flipmode Squad's Roc Marciano and Wu Tang affiliated rapper Trife. One of the most respected producers in hip hop, Pete Rock's production on 'Give It To Y'All is special, even by his standards. An instrumental version is also included on the flip side of this strictly limited release.

Give It To Y'All - Original b/w Instrumental

7" vinyl for the first time, exclusively for RSD 2016, strictly very limited!

Ivan Ave & MNDSGN follow up their critically acclaimed 'Low Jams' EP with a full length release, which also marks Ivan Ave's Solo LP Debut in 2016 with Jakarta Records.

Ivan signed with Berlin based Jakarta Records in 2014 to release "Low Jams", a five track phenomenon produced by Stones Throw artist MNDSGN.The EP was described as 'an enveloping head nodder that peppers irresistible grooves with vivid double-entendres and exists in the same elusive strata of true school perfection occupied by Nas' debut Illmatic LP.'

Ivan Ave's relationship with music started in the CD shelves of his older sisters. Today the Norwegian MC makes songs clearly shaped by sneaking into 90s bedrooms to play albums by The Fugees and Janet Jackson. In the last few years he has put out several EPs, all deeply rooted in the RnB and Hip-Hop of his childhood, perhaps even more the 70s jazz and soul that inspired it.

In 2016 this Oslo-to-LA collaboration delivers again. This time a full Ivan Ave solo LP, produced entirely by Mndsgn. Picking up where "Low Jams" left off, but also moving into new realms, the "Helping Hands" LP will be released on February 12. Available for pre-order now.
The release is acompanied by a 20+ stop tour all over Europe in February 2016.

Following on from the untold stories in music compilation, Another varied ep from manchester producer the unheard with this, the 6th release for Unicycle nutfish productions, 10 new tracks for 2016 incorperating different styles, from feel good vibes to chilled grooves, sci fi, and western, expect big beats pretty much all the way, and if you like a particular style the chances are you may like something here. Limited Edition Only 200 copies.

Old skool proper Hip Hop style. Features SOUNDSCI (USA) with THE HERBALISER's OLLIE TEEBA on scratch duties plus legendary UK hip hop royalty MCM (from the group Caveman who had many big tracks signed tyo profile records in 1990-1992

Sounds samples just one mark and bringing some new material !

Great package of hip-hop / breabbeat / scratches / Accapella !.

For KU-023 we wanted to do a something simple with no concept or title, just some solid instrumental beats.
Mr Brown dug through his vast library of beats and he picked out four dusty, boom bap, sample filled productions that perfectly fitted with the concept of the release.
There are two beats per side, 'Weathered' & 'Now See Me' on side A and 'Tiny Sunset' & 'Bluey' on side B.

Junior Disprol is best known as MC for Dead Residents and also from the now defunct Fleapit, along with a multitude of guest spots over the years with such artists as British Hip Hop luminaries Aspects and Sir Beans OBE. Mr (a/k/a DJ) Rumage is 1/3rd of the mighty Numskullz and nowadays half of production duo The Aroma along with fellow Numskull Rola, who deal with all sonic elements on this release and is co-founder of Ruztik Records. Between them they've delivered a hard hitting yet laid back track with Junior Disprol on top form over the crisp, dark soundscape carved out by Mr Rumage. For the turntablism fans the chorus scratching will get you asking 'how did they do that!'.

There is no current intention of Invasion becoming a track from any forthcoming album so this is the only way to get it. We've included the Instrumental Version on the flip for good measure. AE Productions like to deliver a high quality product and this is no exception, presented in a full colour card sleeve which showcases some eye catching artwork by Kaiju Blue.

'Cold Crush' started as a simple request for Kirkis to remix a track ('Kikhabits') from Mndsgn's now certified cult-classic 'Breatharian' tape for the Fresh Selects label. He obliged and much later turned in a completely new song with nearly no signs of the original stems to be found. All parties involved loved the result but agreed it did not qualify as a remix.
Now Fresh Selects presents its own standalone 7" single now accompanied by Mndsgn's own remix on the B Side with both artists immortalized by Gangster Doodles for the artwork.
Kirkis is a manic proto-punk-jazz funk artist from Melbourne with releases on Eglo Records and affiliation with the Hiatus Kaiyote crew.
Mndsgn has been an impactful game changer in the indie beat scene for over a decade and is now signed to Stones Throw Records.
Gangster Doodles is one of the most viral illustrators of the Instagram generation. Has racked up several tens of thousands followers over the past couple of years with his comical post-it note caricatures of rap figures and urban pop culture icons.

Sifu Hotman are here to remind you why you fell in love with hip hop. Known for sharp, up-tempo hip hop, the group is comprised of two-time National Slam Poetry Champion Guante, deM atlaS who also has a solo deal with Rhymesayers Entertainment and SP-1200 maestro producer Rube.

Matches follows the ground work laid out on the now sold out debut 10' the 'Self-Titled EP' released on Stashin' Records and delivers more superb quality Hip Hop in the vein of heavy Jazz sampling that will have your neck snapping in no time. Mr Fantastic's remix of Embrace the Sun on the flip samples a well-known Disco Break which is chopped and spliced with some Eastern European Funk which completely changes the feel of the original version found on the forthcoming EP coming soon on AE Productions and so gives you 2 flavours on one 7' single.

Odd Nosdam AKA David Madson makes his second appearance
on Leaving Records and greets 2016 with a breathtaking LP entitled Sisters. Throughout, Odd Nosdam splits his time between cosmic, slow burning beats and reflective soundscapes littered with intriguing textures and mind bending samples. Analogue sounds are generous and knowingly manipulated. Gorgeous samples are deployed, sturdy yet emotional. Cymbals explode.
Already a long revered figure in underground beats, in the last several years Odd Nosdam has been able to test his new productions on the world class sound system of Low End Theory. Much of Sisters was inspired by those room shaking sonics, so it is fitting that kindred spirit Teebs makes an appearance here in a dreamy collaboration. Although Sisters contains plenty of absolute bangers, its quieter moments also stun with their hypnotic beauty.
Madson writes of the inspiration for the title track, 'or example, that moment when the sun finally breaks through on an overcast day, Sisters was very much inspired by that wonderful feeling... so that particular feeling - plus the longing for it - on top of 808s.'

Space Zone of creative hip Hop and Jazz... Acid and experimental, very musical, with an easy listening solid influence. Total immersion ! ENJOY !

While G-funk dominated hip-hop airwaves through the 1990s, the
pulse of underground rap was maintained at the Good Life Café,
an open-mic workshop at the corner of Crenshaw & Exposition in
Los Angeles. After Freestyle Fellowship became the first Good Life group to invade the national consciousness in 1991, a young duo called THE NONCE were their heirs apparent, seemingly primed for a breakthrough. Composed of Leimert Park natives Lance 'Nouka Basetype / Sach' Caldwell and Yusef 'Afloat'Muhammad, The Nonce had already been rapping and recording together for years prior to arriving at Good Life. The Nonce signed to Wild West Records / American and completed a record called 'World Ultimate' in 1995. An early single called 'Mix Tapes' emerged from the 'World Ultimate' sessions. With its dense percussion, rolling bass, spare horn samples and deft turntable scratches, it's emblematic of the sound that would pervade the classic album. The song charts Sach and
Yusef's growth from mixtape peddlers to artists. It also became The Nonce's stepping stone to a major label contract and a bonafide west coast classic. After 'World Ultimate', Sach and Yusef intended to push their musical boundaries even further. Unfortunately for Yusef Afloat, the journey ended at age 28. In 2000 his body was found beside the 110-Freeway. In the years since Sach has maintained a prolific solo career, selfreleasing
nearly a dozen projects ranging from LPs to collaborations
and instrumental tapes. Fast forward to 2016 and the forthcoming release of 'ESSENTIAL [HNR57] a remastered twelve-track 'Best of' SACH compilation album, serving as a re-introduction of Sach to a new generation of hip-hop lovers, producers, beat makers & emcees. This extraordinary musical document comes complete with cover artwork courtesy of Augustine Kofie, the legendary photography of Eric Coleman, plus illustrative and informative liner notes by luminary Carlos Nino, and is available on limited-edition 12' tangerine colored vinyl (plus Cassette tape (includes two non-LP bonus tracks 'Heavenly Spit' & 'Robot on Ya').
- Sach was one half of hip hop duo The Nonce
- Essential is a 'best of' compilation serving as a reintroduction
to a new generation - Liner notes by Carlos Nino
- Pressing is limited to 300 units on orange vinyl

Info on Croydon's shadowy firespitter & beat sculptor Rocks FOE is scarce. He poses a unique combination attack, with a rap style that combines the catch-all hooks of grime with the sheer lyrical dominance of classic US rappers like Pharaohe Monch & GZA. Dig into Rocks lyrical tidal wave and you find arcane religious references and Anime characters punctuated with frequent direct knock out put-downs. He blends the obscure with the instant to future proof his verses. Every beat on Legion was also produced by the man himself. Never one to stand still, he chops and grafts Grime and Hip Hop with DNA from Horror composers.

With support from 6Music (Mary Anne Hobbs), 1Xtra (Logan Sama), Apple Beats 1 (Julie Adenuga) to Pirates Rocks unorthodox rise is set to continue.

Behold! Jay Electronica's instant classics 'Exhibit A' & 'Exhibit C,' released for the rst time ever in physical format on
a 12' picture disc exclusively for Record Store Day Black Friday 2015. Considered by many to be Jay Electronica's nest
work, notably over two iconic productions by Just Blaze, this record provides expert testimony on what real hip-hop is in
the new millennium. The picture disc features the original digital single artwork of Nikola Tesla sitting with his Magnifying
Transmitter, one side tinted purple and the other black and white.

The album is a soundtrack of music inspired by the movie Rubble Kings and is out globally on digital and physical formats on January 15, 2016 via Mass Appeal Records. Produced by longtime Run The Jewels collaborator Little Shalimar, the album features appearances from Bun B, Ghostface Killah, Killer Mike, Tunde Adebimpe, Mr Muthaf*kin eXquire, Boldy James, Cuz Lightyear, Ka and Roxiny, in addition to Run The Jewels.
Scoring the film was the first time Little Shalimar set out to make period music. Half of the music on this album was taken directly from the score and is heavily indebted to '60s and '70s soul and funk music. For the new tunes Shalimar sampled joints from the score and created new beats out of them.
'The messages of hope and self-determination from the film are so applicable to modern times that we felt it was really important to include rappers and singers that young people check today. I'm in the fortunate position to work with a bunch of really great artists on a regular basis. I called on my friends and their friends to contribute vocals as project. I couldn't be more pleased with how it turned out.'
Both the CD and LP version include an iron-on patch of the Rubble Kings plus a download code for the Rubble Kings documentary.

Unlike most rap vocalists, Ugly Duckling's Andy Cooper has rarely worked outside of his band but, recently, he decided to record a ten-song LP to explore his abilities as an MC and producer. 'Room to Breathe:The Free LP' features a highly creative Hip-Hop veteran showcasing his mastery of fundamental rap skill while, at the same time, daringly pushing the boundaries of lyrical possibility. Andy also holds down things on the beat, using his years of experience as Ugly Duckling co-producer to combine classic, sample-rich sound with a more rugged and modern sensibility. Obviously, projects come and go faster than I can finish this sentence but 'Room To Breathe: The Free LP' is truly worth digesting because it challenges the standard Hip-Hop formulas on the market. Rather than jumping on the latest trend or standing firm on Old-School principles, Andy utilizes all the resources of experience, technology and a relentlessly imaginative mind to offer something traditional, yet exciting and relevant.

The southern California production duo Beat Bruisers make their debut with "Def By Stereo".

An action fueled album co-starring Duck Down Records sharp shooter Ruste Juxx and LA's rhyme slinger Pawz One. The scenery through sound laid by the Beat Bruisers provides the perfect back drop for Ruste Juxx, Pawz One and Harsh Ramirez.

"Def By Stereo" plays like a cult classic B movie that hardcore fans will keep on repeat. Both an ode to the punch you in the face era of hip hop and a cut of something new, "Def By Stereo" has no stuntmen, no safety and no shortage of action.

[I] 09. LA 2 NY (Director's Cut) [feat. Spit Savage]

Ras G is one of the definitive producers of the Los Angeles beat scene, a co-founder of the Poo-Bah label, and hip-hop beat maker who digs probably deeper than any into the worlds of free jazz, jazz fusion and afrofuturism. The prolific producer currently has two albums on Brainfeeder, two released by Poo-Bah, and several on Leaving Records, including the beat tape series Raw Fruit. Focused and expansive, El-Aylien is a cosmic exhibit in Ras G's sonic explorations of collage and rhythm.

Swag!

The forth release on Giant is again from GRANT DELL
this time grant take us on a deep dive into the realms of
a trippy moog lead madness, - THE WAY WE FEEL -
Filtered out dub stabs evolve around a timothy leary
inspired spoken word - dark heady madness. The next
version is from TOM GILLIERON - Tom's been
releasing some wicked music since 1997 on some
influential labels and his mix shows why just that.
Reminiscent of an old school - MOOD 2 SWING meets
BASIC CHANNEL groove - his mix twists and turns and
takes us into a wicked spaced out techno jam but
keeping the swing on the drums and the snap on the
sub lead groove.
