Sleaford Mods started out sometime during 2006 whilst Jason Williamson was living in Nottingham. Born out of part frustration and part accident, it quickly found its feet as an aggressive verbal onslaught on all that is contrived and connected to the day-to-day hammer of low paid employment and domestic situations arising from that trap. After a year of working ideas out in both the studio and in live performance around Nottingham, Williamson moved south and took the cause to London for a couple of years, before returning to Nottingham in 2009. Soon after that he that he met Andrew Fearn and the Sleaford Mods became a duo. Fearn's first work was on the production of 'Wank' - the Mods' fifth CDr album. Soon after he started stalking the studio and stage with Williamson. Just after the release of 'Wank' the duo were invited to play a three day festival curated by Nottingham's Rammel Club. During that weekend they were introduced to the Harbinger Sound label. A meeting which - a year later - resulted in the release of 'Austerity Dogs'. Numerous shows around the UK and Europe followed, including further festival appearances. Rave reviews of the album have appeared in magazines as diverse as The Wire and Uncut, along with interviews being published both on paper and on the internet, both here and abroad. With more international dates on the horizon including excursions to Poland and Sweden the interest in the Mods continues to spread.

"Connecting around 2009 - Anteek Recipes is a collaborative 'across the pond' concoction of 2 Jazzy Hip Hop lovers: Producer/DJ Dirty Hairy & MC/DJ Shut Eyes.
'A-side'...
This limited edition 7" consists of two killer tunes. The A-side entitled 'Hot Rhythm' delves into that early 80's funk steez with a heavy, head-nodding bass-line and 'feel-good' samples. When Dirty sent this beat to Shut, he really didn't know what to expect. A couple of weeks later, Shut hit him back with his vocals and the rest is history! Not many emcee's would even attempt to rhyme on a beat like this, let alone do it justice like Shut did. His impressive flow, clever rhymes and excellent delivery certainly takes this song to another level. Lets just say- this joint is bound to get you outta your seat and onto the dancefloor!"
'B-side'...
"The flip side 'Little Stories' is on a more laid-back, 'classic' Hip Hop vibe and features a guest appearance from an American based MC called Definition. Through-out the whole track, Shut and Definition share mic duties; laying down a number of back-to-back killer verses. According to Dirty, the 'Little Stories' beat changed about 5 times, with the original version being made in 2011. He went through a number of different loops and drums until he came up with this beauty in August 2013."

As one half of seminal hip hop duo Organized Konfusion, Prince Po helped elevate lyricism and shape the art form for years to come. After joining forces with Danger Mouse for his classic solo debut, Po is now back with Animal Serum, entirely produced by West Coast beatsmith Oh No. Oh No has made a name for himself in recent years with a series of acclaimed solo albums, group work as one half of Gangrene (alongside Alchemist), plus production work on everything from the latest Mos Def album to Grand Theft Auto V. With two innovative artists joining forces for the first time, Animal Serum is a dark, psychedelic experience that even includes a long-awaited reunion Organized Konfusion reunion on the Pharoahe Monch-assisted 'Smash'.

Sisyphus is the new name for the collaboration between Serengeti, Son Lux, and Sufjan Stevens (formally s/s/s), whose new project under this moniker is a self-titled album partly inspired by the art of Jim Hodges, and commissioned by the Walker Art Center and The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra's Liquid Music series in Minneapolis/Saint Paul. Liquid Music and the Walker Art Center will present a retrospective of Jim Hodge's work alongside a listening party of the new album in February, where fifty limited edition copies of the vinyl will be available for purchase. Asthmatic Kitty Records and Joyful Noise Recordings will release the record widely on March 17th, 2014. 'Take the romantic stings and catchy choruses from the Illinois era, throw in some crazed electronic percussion, melted synths, rapped verses, and autotuned vocals, and stir.' - Beats Per Minute....

Following Hollowed - the Yorkshire based producer's debut EP for Sonic Router - and his successive collaborative EP with vocalist Segilola for the King Deluxe label, Bambooman returns with a reinvigorated arsenal of productions on the Dulcet EP. Pouring a lot of ideas into the seven original tracks he tackles numerous tempos, contorting his trademark brittle percussion and his command of bounding melodies across several different forms. "I feel like this EP is a good representation of the music I love to make - style wise," offers Bambooman of the EP. "I definitely spent a lot of time sculpting the overall sound that I've been developing over the last few years. There's a nice balance of musical feelings from the more dark minimal sound design evident in 'Birth' and 'Cast', to the classic kick/snare hip hop flex of 'Knox', through to the more up-tempo garage-esque feel of tracks like 'Dulcet' and 'Clasp'."
"Similarly to Hollowed, this EP is made almost entirely out of found sounds and field recordings that I've made and processed; sounds I've synthesized myself or recordings that were made and donated by friends. There's certainly more development and progression within the individual tracks and I feel like that's also reflected in the EP's sequencing."

Born in New Zealand to a French father and an Italian mother, with Polish, Turkish and Siberian roots and a Polynesian name, Vaitea is the living portrait of a citizen of the world. Raised with the love of clever rhymes and a dizzying array of musical styles on rotation in the home, she gradually leaned more to hip hop culture. Writing in three languages, working with producers from different countries, performing with hip hop DJs as well as Jazz and Funk, all these ingredients have contributed to the creation of a very personal style, where she joins dots from spoken word to house, jazz and hip hop. The album is a collection of very intimate tracks, yet created with the intent to share them, or better still, to share the emotions they convey. From the melancholic selfportrait of "About Me", to the anger of "Strange Dayz", through irony, reflections and (self-) motivation, Vaitea travels in a universal state of mind, taking us into 'her ' trip around the World, through Music & Words.

***RECORD STORE DAY TITLE***
On a Saturday morning at the start of November 2013, First Word Records took 3 of our favourite producers out of London to spend the day browsing through the vinyl shelves of the biggest record nerd we know - the incomparable Mr Thing. This was the culmination of an idea that first manifested itself on Record Store Day 2012. Like most ideas it was a natural conclusion to a conversation about records and music - kidkanevil had expressed a desire to dig through Mr Thing's sizeable collection for some inspiration. Chatting to Mr Thing it seemed unfair to limit this to only one producer - Tall Black Guy and Eric Lau were top of our wish list. So - a double 7" (Mr Thing would make a beat too - they are his records after all) in time for Record Store Day 2013 (yes, we're a year late). There was however one stipulation about the records from the usually mild-mannered Mr Thing:
'The guys can sample anything they like, but Nothing Leaves The House....'
And who were we to argue.....
The result is four tracks that celebrate our love for record digging, sample chopping and the simple love of a dope beat.

Das Album featured eine Reihe von international bekannten Musikgrößen wie Grammy-Gewinnerin - Queen of African music' Angelique Kidjo ("Call Waiting"), Seun Kuti, den jüngsten Sohn der Afrobeat-Legende Fela Kuti ('Make You No Forget'), die Nigerianisch-Deutsche Sängerin Nneka ("Love on The Run") und den Brasilianischen Hip Hop Star Marcelo D2 ("All Around The World").
Das WALL STREET JOURNAL beschreibt seine Live Show als '...the feeling of crisscrossed genre mash-ups, swiftly moving from traditional hip-hop to Nigerian high life and hard Afro-funk. Blitz invited his audience on a narrative musical journey, exploring the roots of rap and funk music around the world and the African continent.' (8/8/11). Die NEW YORK TIMES schrieb 'Blitz the Ambassador, who was born Samuel Bazawule in Ghana's capital, Accra, put his mission in his stage name. For him the job means history, funk from Africa and America, rapping, singing and showing off a hard-working three-man horn section, whose every riff was delivered with a choreographed swivel.' (8/8/11), und auch die WASHINGTON POST findet 'Blitz the Ambassador is a hip-hop talent to watch, with his deft mixing of English and his native Ghanaian Twi with effortless style and a rollicking band fronted by a wall of brass that would make Fela Kuti proud.' (5/3/11)

Multi-time finalist of Red Bull's prestigious Big Tune Producer Showcase, DIBIA$E has been honing his musical talents for over a decade within LA's influential beat scene. His signature sound has been recognized and sought out by some of hip hop and electronic music's most influential: Blu, Guilty Simpson, Elzhi Slum Village, Abstract Rude, Battle Cat, DJ Premier, Flying Lotus, Geoff Barrow Portishead; to name a few. 10thirty Records and DIBIA$E reveal their latest release Schematiks. This full length album gives listeners an audible diagram of DIBIA$ES' abstract musical genius. Heavily influenced by symbols of traditional boom-bap, rugged soul and smoothed out R&B; Schematiks showcases DIBIA$E's better known 'Dilla-esque' slightly off-kilter sound.
The release of DIBIA$ES' Schematiks will be accompanied by international and domestic tours with dates in: Fukuoka, Osaka, Tokyo, San Francisco and Los Angeles (additional cities TBA).

Like a dream you don't want to admit, F.A.G. Diarrhea Cult's 'Ashes 2 Ash' is gut wrenching, punchy and frighteningly vague—a dark, minimal collage of canned sound, bleak, unaccommodating lyrics and almost-there grooves. Meet Ashlee, your mother, your sister, the girl next door. Don't listen to what they told you about her. Among gym-whistles, clipped chimes and noisemakers, she sings of an agitated encounter with a dog. In lazy autotune she tells you why you ought to sober up. She thinks you're her brother. For all the EP's DIY irreverence, there is complexity and richness in turn—of vocal phrasing, of rhythm, of language. Ashlee's voice is so nice, but nothing she says is easy. Snatches of coherent melody bloom before an awkwardly delivered lyric or odd synth butts in. And all the while some kinda funk hangs in the back.

Schwarzes Doppel-Vinyl + CD-Beilage + 4 Miniposter
There's a riot goin' on!

In the closing months of 2012 BBE label artist Chris Read was enlisted by classic Los Angeles imprint Delicious Vinyl to produce a mixtape for Wax Poetics magazine celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the release of The Pharcyde's seminal debut LP 'Bizarre Ride'. The resulting mix was a runaway success clocking tens of thousands of plays online and kickstarted a relationship with the label that would go on to see Chris remix two of the group's best loved tracks, 'Runnin' and 'Passin Me By'. Those tracks are now available for the first time on this limited edition BBE x Delicious Vinyl double vinyl 7inch release. Treating the familiar original with respect, Chris has called upon the vocal talents of long time collaborators Lizzy Parks (Tru Thoughts) and guitarist Giles Barratt (Breakin Bread) to rework passages from 'Runnin' to create a 2014 update on the themes of the much loved Jay Dee produced classic. 'Passin Me By' meanwhile gets a '90s throwback rework utilising sample material from the original to great effect to create a track which bears all the hallmarks of the golden era. Mastered and cut by Walter Coelho who cut Jay Dee's 'Welcome to Detroit' back in 2001, the circle is complete!

Features guest appearances from Slug (Atmosphere) and B. Lewis. Custom die-cut packaging, lyrics included for CD and LP formats. LP version includes colored vinyl and free digital download card. Grieves' debut full-length, Together/Apart, debuted at #1 on Billboard's Heatseeker chart, and peaked at #2 on CMJ's Hip-Hop chart. Established Seattle rapper, Grieves, returns to deliver his fourth studio album, Winter & The Wolves. The insatiable, devil-may-care MC is well known for his meticulous exploration of life, love and loss, through a unique medley of hip-hop and soulful music. Together with B. Lewis, Grieves created 14 new tracks, combining organic pianos and guitars with boisterous synthesizers, to paint a colorful backdrop for his unique blend of rapping and singing. A reflection on growth and maturity, Winter & The Wolves is about the instinctual fight for survival. It's about suddenly finding that you're all alone, facing countless hindrances to your livelihood, and having the courage to overcome them all. Tackling difficult obstacles like addiction and heartbreak, Grieves wrestles with the realization that life doesn't get any easier as you get older. His signature combination of humor and gloom culminate to depict the struggle of a man's inner turmoil between abandoning the dreams of his youth, and carving out a new path for himself in this world.

R&B Mixtape is a fresh take on R&B. Disc 1 is a journey through some of the new sounds coming from young up and coming talent on the scene whilst Disc 2 hones in on R&B's significance in dance music today and how R&B remixes and dance tracks with R&B vocal cuts are becoming increasingly popular. The album pushes the boundary of how we might define contemporary R&B; many use the label 'R&B' for commercial mainstream pop whilst others see it as original rhythm and blues. R&B Mixtape presents another side to the genre.
Disc 1 features the likes of Robin Thicke, Javeon, Banks, Drake, Bipolar Sunshine and more whilst Disc 2 includes R&B inspired dance tracks such as Jazzanova & Ben Westbeech, Le Youth, Duke Dumont as well as remixes of Rihanna, Wretch 32, Naughty Boy, Emeli Sande and Kelis.
R&B Mixtape is the first album of its kind and demonstrated the ever increasing relationship between dance music and R&B.
