A year has passed since DJ Koze released his masterpiece Amygdala, which was heralded worldwide with numerous awards and prizes: "Best Album" in Groove, De: Bug, Byte FM and Zündfunk, "Best Album #2" at Resident Advisor, as well as the HANS Music Prize, the VUT Indie Award for "Best Album" and finally, the ECHO Critics Award. Now, after Reincarnations - The Remix Chapter 2001-2009 and Music Is Okay (2000), comes the third major exhibition of DJ Koze's work as a remix virtuoso: Reincarnations Pt 2.
Alongside the acclaimed solo albums Kosi Comes Around (2005), Wo die Rammelwolle fliegt (as Adolf Noise, 2005) and Amygdala (2013), it is primarily through his remixes that DJ Koze, like no other producer of electronic music, sets new standards again and again. His musical and storytelling skills always seem to shine a little brighter when he lets all his love and passion flow into the music of other artists. There are many songs where people first recall the DJ Koze version. Remixes to remember. For Reincarnations Pt 2 Dj Koze, aka Swahimi, der Unerleuchtete, (Swahimi, the Unenlightened), collected 12 of his musical rebirths in an old wicker basket, where otherwise a small cat can be found sleeping. Once more, DJ Koze refines and varies his colors and shapes, styles and materials. He prefers to reach a crescendo on the dance floor in his own special way - often the loud becomes the quiet, the heavy stands in contrast with the gentle. Koze's remix of Moderat's "Bad Kingdom" makes a hymn from a hit. His reworking of the two Herbert tracks "It's Only" (Resident Advisor Poll 2013 - Track of the Year #1) and "You Saw It All" feel like abstract paintings, yet function simultaneously as great pop music. And his wonderful arrangements for Caribou, Who Made Who, Ada, Gonzales, Soap & Skin, and finally, as a crowning glory, Apparat's "Blackwater", have all long since become classics. In the mountains, they say, the direct route always leads from summit to summit. An experienced mountaineer, DJ Koze also leads us along winding paths, up through shady valleys and high over the clouds. This is the last 12“ of the Pandemix Live Jams series. „Right About Now“ is built around a friendly Move D jingle dedication by Scott Grooves. A smooth flower with a breeze of calypso featuring live bass and guitar. After this gentle and rather uplifting opener, things get deeper with even more guitars and guitar synths. „The Bottom“ is a call for an end of the pandemic and the restrictions upon (night)life that came with it. Move D goes through some jazz inspired fusion modes on this one. Finally „The System Is…- Original First Take with E-Harp/Sitar“ offers the initial version of this song which was previously released on Smallville Records #57 featuring a second, more sparse mix. However, this original version is even more dreamy and introverted, but at the same time still a groovy little stomper with a steady techno pulse to close out this 12“ along with the whole set of 6 vinyl EPs.

Distinguished Utrecht-based duo Tinlicker (Micha Heyboer and Jordi van Achthoven) have revealed that their forthcoming album ‘In Another Lifetime’ is out spring 2022 via independent record label Anjunadeep. Written during lockdown, ‘In Another Lifteime’ was heavily influenced by Tinlicker’s experience of the past two years. Reflecting on the album name, the duo explain; “These last two years saw the creation of a parallel universe in which human beings had to reinvent themselves whether they wanted to or not. We experienced a lot of lows in this process, but also beautiful highs - in some moments it felt like everything was about to slip through our fingers, while other days the process brought a lot of peace. For us, the title ‘In Another Lifetime’ captures this journey.” Featuring eleven previously unheard tracks and an ensemble of vocalists, ‘In Another Lifetime’ reflects this dichotomy of highs and lows. Whilst invoking the familiar Tinlicker sound of powerful progressive house, the album also explores tangential styles of electronica, deep house, and melodic techno. Tracks such as ‘Always Will’ featuring Nathan Nicholson and ‘You Take My Hand’ featuring Jamie Irrepressible are characteristic of the duo; masterful compositions of fervently driving percussion, considered synth design, and hypnotic vocals that make for darker, memorable club anthems. Other tracks, such as ‘I Am Free’ and instrumentals such as ‘Healing Forest’ and ‘Just To Hear You Say’ convey a less conventional approach from the duo, where they favour breakbeat arrangements and brighter melodic elements. The end result is an album that reflects Tinlicker’s artistic and personal growth. Champions of forward-thinking sound design and dynamic songwriting, Tinlicker members Micha Heyboer and Jordi van Achthoven combined their storied musical backgrounds in 2013. Quickly it became clear that Jordi’s polished pop and house production was a consummate match for Micha’s deep sonic palette - a quality he honed as a member of drum and bass group Black Sun Empire. Tinlicker released their first studio album ‘This Is Not Our Universe’ in 2019 via Anjunabeats. Drawing international attention for its powerful progressive sound, the album was championed by Pete Tong and Annie Nightingale at BBC Radio 1, Jason Bentley at KCRW, and SiriusXM.

De Lichting shines their light on one of their core members, Human Space Machine. "Kids At Play" is convincing for "Altered States" again as another lesson in an extremely elegant design of exciting electronic aspects from life "on the cutting edge behalf House and Techno." Like with his legendary warehouse classic from 1990 Trent moves again at this point in 2011 off a harmonically dominated terrain on Prescription sound philosophy, to which many of his die-hard fans may focus him otherwise only. Anyone who has seen Trent since its KMS interlude with Chez Damier and his collaboration with Berlin's Maurizio duo Mark Ernestus & Moritz von Oswald as a real producer and not only as incarnate 4-Four-house machinery recognizes and loves the other side of his genius and his techno-affinity immediately. This is oriented so on the rawness of the early Chicago House with the initial spark of Farley Jackmaster Funk or Adonis, as well as the fusion potential of Herbie Hancock and performs as an educational base for the forthcoming album "Raw Footage" to an expression of open creative style that extends beyond the normal limits of the genre far beyond otherwise binding. "Kids At Play" touches in a whole both morning wee-wee-hours as well as ecstatic, night club moments, before Trent defines the trackwerk as unusual blueprint for new stringent forms of the House, where this vinyl will also demand his most impressive moment experiences. In Trent's body of work, the track comes ahead of many recordings in recent years on the highest level, mainly because it the dimension of predictability with that of unpredictability in the sense of "more energy and power" exchanges and at the end of an exhibit defines what probably most of today's house conaisseures with an open mind demand as their own. Michael "Adonis" Smith is a name that garners respect from fans of House and Techno across the world. Many of his productions are classics and "Freedom" by his short lived collaborative project The Children is one such record. It started with a night out at New York’s Sound Factory - and turned into an obsession, Inner City main man Kevin “Reese” Saunderson and his then manager, Neil Rushton, were at the NY uber house club when The Pressure by The Sounds Of Blackness got its’ debut World play, with the ecstatic response from the crowd meaning it was spun three times in a row.
Nobody was more knocked out than Kevin who vowed there and then to come up with a Detroit answer, much to the delight of Soul mad Rushton, co-owner of the Network label.
The idea of The Reese Project was quickly turned into House Heaven reality as Kevin recruited Detroit vocalist diva Rachel Kapp to record the anthemic Direct Me & The Colour Of Love as the first two singles.
Network made the group a main priority, coming with a whole slew of remixes to complement the original USA mixes on the subsequent album. Three of the most loved Network remixes are on this wonderful timeless 12.
The Dave Lee Joey Negro mix from 1991 is rated by many as one of Network’s finest moments, and maybe Lee’s finest ever “remixed with extra production” epics.
Rushton remembers meeting Lee to collect the remix, and instantly phoning Saunderson proclaiming “you won’t believe this”.
Underground Resistance’s Mike Banks added his magic to the 1991 original mixes of “The Colour Of Love” and the results were so overwhelming great that the idea of subsequent remixes was daunting.but the classic 1994 Network remix by The Playboys flew the flag for U.K. House.
C.J, Mackintosh set the production standards for U.K. Soul filled House and his 1993 remix of “So Deep” - sung by La’Trece - is a gem to be cherished forever and a day.
Network’s passionate crusade to crossover The Reese Project from House Music superstars to Pop success came tantalising close but never quite happened. But the Network remixes are a glorious legacy of House Music’s golden age and three of the very finest are remastered here and presented on one glorious 12.
