Berlin House Music launches its first vinyl only label: BHMWAX. An outlet for different styles of Underground House Music by "unknown" artists.

The first vinyl, BHMWAX001, includes 4 tracks from 2 "unknown" artists. The A-side starts with "Ours" a breaky House tune as a tribute to House Music. Followed by "Love" a proper dance floor mover driven by heavy pads and punchy drums.
The B-side starts with "This Beautiful Girl", a special treat for the after hours with a crazy evolving piano loop supported by heavy drum work and a driving bassline. Followed by "Sad" a 4x4 groove accompanied by warm pads, stabby bassline and melancholic melodies.

Nagoya university duo Ogawa & Tokoro and newcomer Svetozar participate.

For her latest release Roberta once again dives deep to deliver more of her funk-inspired sultry & soulful sound.

It has been a sublime journey. 5 years definitely means something. A time to reflect on what has been accomplished especially on a musical level. When original creative ideas come to fruition in ways beyond imagination, one can only be thankful and proud.

Thankful for all the people that have hel
ped us along the way and proud of the philosophy we continued to carry on the last years. The label has always been a way to preserve the cultural legacy of house music.

This 5 years of PIV volume commemorates this significant milestone.

After a 17-month hiatus, Burnski and Michael James have re-united as Relic for the first of a series of fresh EPs on Aesthetic and Constant Black. This is the first of them and, in typically matter-or-fact fashion, features three more undulating, funk-fuelled tech-house jams named after letters of the alphabet. They set the tone with lead cut "H", a fluid, loose-limbed affair that features an attractive mix of bouncy tech-house drums, squelchy bass, hazy vocal samples, tipsy chords and chiming melodies. Over on side B, they first wrap creepy lead lines and clandestine chords around a booming bassline and crunchy drums on "I", before beefing up the beats and reaching for funk-fuelled bass and ear-catching stabs on bona-fide peak-time workout "J".

First EP by the new talent Supply. An hermetically sealed off sound universe that oddly billows between the absurd nostalgia of a crying seagull and the modern i-dont-give-a-fuckery of hedonistic club culture. All tracks are completely produced with an mpc and recorded live on an 8-track tape deck.

Vincenzo needs little introduction - the veteran producer and DJ has been a fixture on the scene for years, releasing his distinctive brand of classy deep and techy house on a number of key labels. Returning to Poker Flat, he teams up with the mega talented Cari Golden for this killer three track EP. Cari hails from LA, an accomplished singer & songwriter and a part of band Narcotourist. She lends her skills to 'Never Go Back' a lush yet edgy deep bomb built around slinky groove shot through with Vincenzo's trademark drama and tension. Cari brings the track to the next level with her vocals - both seductive and cautionary. Smash TV (Holger Zilske and Kai Preussner) bring a sick remix to the table with their version - heading to deeper territory and seemingly primed for the after hours vibe. Next up is 'That's The Way' - an instrumental that sees Vincenzo revel in some old school chord progressions and tension / release dynamics to make a sure-fire floor weapon.

Repressed!

The second release on JAMES DUNCAN's INNERMOODS label is from the legendary ABACUS (of PRESCRIPTION and GUIDANCE fame). "BASIC AMOUNTS" is a hypnotic deep house groover from one of Toronto's greatest producers. Hand stamped 1-sided limited 12". Don't sleep on this. Essential.

Simona Drive and Alps 2 are outfits with pedigree: as performers, Simona Drive have toured with Maribou State; as individuals, Alps 2 and Simona Drive have released on 2020 Vision and Fatboy Slim's Southern Fried Records. And as a collective, they've launched Selby Sounds, receiving support from Radio 6 Music. Now, Ad Hoc Records proudly presents Simona Drive and Alps 2 on The Burnt EP, alongside Manchester legend, Goddard, on remix duties.

The Burnt EP is a showcase of ambient mastery - a wistful folktronic collage akin to the mellower stylings of Four Tet, Seb Wildblood and Ross From Friends. Listen for an eternally poised array of mesmeric shuffles and eclectic vocal chops that hint at its creators' genre-skipping technical expertise.

Slipping between states of rhythmic formality (Duck Tape) and freeform soundscapes (Empting), The Burnt EP vibrates on multiple levels. Threads of hip hop and lo-fi house (Burnt) embroider the tracklisting, uncovering a finessed sound that is at once both mellowed and full of intent.

Meandyou return with the ninth instalment of the collective's record label, this time presenting Manchester cult techno artist J.S. Zeiter. Zeither resurrects his Analog 1 alias for his second outing on the label, after 2012s mini album on the collective's first edition of the TAPE series - the cassette featured original material split per side between Zeiter and Meandyou's Herron. In the late 1990s, J.S. Zeiter reached cult status by releasing a string of dub-infused techno EPs under his SJ moniker, each becoming sought after amongst collectors and DJs. Styrax Leaves recently reissued a number of his classic tracks, including new edits of the previously released tracks. He has released music on his own MCMLXV and JS imprints, as well as Pleasure Music and Phorma. 'Restoration EP' features 3 new productions that float between slow-mo techno and electro, plus the previously CD only track 'Interude 3' that appeared on the acclaimed 'Decade' album.

These are Different Times indeed for Andy Vaz if the EP's two mighty jams are indicative of where his music's heading.

Dara Smith from Lakker in brilliant form: six vividly evocative, dramatically uneven soundscapes, ranging tonally from beseeching tenderness to thumping, bad-minded bass, guaranteed to rock the house.

Part one of two from the debut release of Arthur Miles.

Slow Town's 17th release from Melbournes Luis CL is an ode to analogue jams. The Cran town EP shows what Luis CL (one half of the Zanzibar Chanel duo and co-founder of Ruff Records) is know for: Dirty but groovy drum arrangements, analogue synths and dreamy melodies and his kind of Lo-fi and blurry mixdowns with definitely some Detroit influences. The three tracks were recorded in one take during his studio sessions.

Yore proudly presents Marcello Napoletano, who is more than just the man of the hour, with his extraordinary releases presented on Mathematics, Uzuri and Quintessentials.

37 kicks off with Tó, circular, the percussion resonating in a room, the stabs leading, and the bass pumping. 12 is next, all harmony, promising pastoral harmony, synth clock and mouth moisture clicks. Paradela bursts in on the flip side, monumental, synthetic symphony, acidic and bright. Jordão is last, rhythmic stutter; the rhythm cuts through, accompanied by a monotone pulse, some lost keys make their way into the mix, it tries to stabilize so it can calmly take you by the hand and lead you home, into the river.

OPIA’s sister label Euphoric State reports back to duty with ‘Evolutionary Perspective’ from veteran producers, Relative Progress. The four tracker consists of two remastered cuts from their sought after ‘Illustrated Primer’ EP back in ‘96 and on the flip two recent productions made this year.

Quite notably some of their finest work ‘Getting There’ opens the EP with its signature bleeps, and progressive structure. An urgent and driven track of the past, that without maybe realising you will be familiar with. ‘Heart ‘N’ Soul’ releases the energy tension, a more mellow cut with rippling pads and dreamy attention to detail.

Kicking off the modern productions is the Detroit-esque ‘Be Real’, a slick and deep alternative to the A side, smooth hi-hats melt into the bouncy organ arrangement. Rounding off the EP is a hazy late night jazz vibe entitled ‘U Got Me Into This’, winding down proceedings in style, as you would imagine from the long term producers.

Another well rounded EP on Euphoric state, dedicated to melding futuristic sounds of the past and present.

THEO PARRISH ALIKE DEEP HOUSE!

Once Upon A Passion is the debut album from Bella Boo, arriving on Studio Barnhus shortly after a sprinkling
of releases through the label that have quickly established the currently LA-based producer (and longtime
Stockholm dj hero) as one of dance music's most distinctive new voices. Throughout its 9 tracks we are treated
to a fascinating, wider-than-ever view of Bella's uniquely intimate and personal world of sound. The album
features vocal contributors Gnucci and Def Sound as well as Nils Janson on trumpet and Axel Boman on
acid bassline. Cover photo by Bozi Borbély Espinosa, artwork by Alexandra Karpilovski. Once Upon A
Passion is out on all formats and platforms November 1st, with digital-only single Can't Leave You Like This
released September 13th.
"I made the album this spring during an intense creative period back home in Stockholm. I was obsessed with
my studio, I wanted to spend all my time awake there. I found out I was getting evicted from it, this sudden
chock turned into a decision to do this album. It made sense, like an "end of an era" thing. I was pretty isolated
back then, spending almost all my time outside of the studio with my daughter Bozi. She snapped the cover
photo while I was picking out records for a gig. I never wanted to leave the studio during these months, but I
realise now how the breaks with Bozi worked for the process - they gave me space to reflect on the music I was
making. That dynamic was exactly what I needed to finish this album." - Bella Boo Previous press about Bella Boo:

The music of Genius of Time has always been defined by a certain elegance and grace. Finding new ways into and out of the labyrinth that some people call (deep) house, one the Swedish duo's inner strength is theuncanny ability to create tension, sustaining and playing with it, before rewarding the listener (or dancer) with a fulminating mirror ball. Same goes for their treatment of percussive elements.- Peace Bird', the opener of GOT'sEP of the same name,is aprime-example of that technique: a tight build-up and an intricate breakdown lead to heavily strings andfoolproof floor finesse. Coming along with - Smiling Into Eternity' that mellows you down easy as well as the club ready- Rymd01', the whole thing is a more than worthy successor to GOT's first EP for Running Back almost five years ago. Niceness unlimited. Nerd facts: most of the elements of these three tracks here were recorded live and then mixed down on a reel to reel. No safety net, no double bottom!Genius of time and genius of love.

Second Seta Label vinyl presents label friend Dj M4SH and his new EP "The Message". It takes you to the world of delayed and filtered chords, pads and arpeggiators with rolling basslines. This solid four-track package contains three deep house jams plus a spacey remix of the track "Not Known" from the well-known Slovak gang Sensoreal. "The Message" expresses Dj M4SH’s memories of rave-kids generation from the 90s and everybody who spent those years at the parties or in the park with cassette player listening to music. "The Message" is dedicated to those who remained loyal to what they love. It's a reminiscence and acknowledgement to all who were there and are here now.

7 years ago the band Elements Of Life re-recorded the Joubert Singers and Celestial Choir Classic “Stand On The Word” as an album track on the “Eclipse” full length release on Fania Records. Today in 2020, Vega Records retain their rights and re-release the Eclipse album and have brought in powerhouse remixers to give you their rendition of this golden nugget.

In the studio is Seth Troxler and Phil Moffa of The Lost Souls of Saturn taking you on an ethereal journey stretching out the chord progression of the organs, pianos, and vocals provided by Lisa Fischer, Cindy Mizelle, & Josh Milan. This will have music lovers on a cosmic ride, making you feel as if you are flowing through the stratosphere, then lands on a proper groove vamping away. The reverb on the vocals and organs are stunning.

Then, we go onto Baltimore, the home of gospel house, with Dj Spen & Gary Hudgins, who have created a top anthem of 2020 for all house lovers. Not only did they add live horns and ultra hot organs, pianos, and rhodes but they call on the legendary Jasper Street Company, the group of gospel house royalty. “Stand On The Word, the Word of God, Staaaaaannnnnnnd”, everyone will be singing along really soon!!

For the third release of the young parisian label they decided to bring back artists that they love and that already built the beginning of the label, Funkastle whose Boulevard Etoiles was on NFR01 and Kizoku who joined Bassam for a real banger featuring on NFR02 . This split EP combines the two different styles of these artists and creates a complete vinyl where the 4 tracks are a different trip.

A warm welcome to the world of wax, a labour of love from the new owners of Suena Hermosa themselves, as the duo/couple proudly present their debut EP as KAMA Sounds. An amalgamation of their influences through the years, playfully blending the true classic old skool house sound with elements of early vocal garage, disco, soul and a smooth helping of acid house... A true journey through sound not to be missed!

Under the moniker Melquiades, Australia's Alex Albrecht has released music for Scissor & Thread and his own Analogue Attic Recordings imprint - to great acclaim.
His sound emanates in improvisations from the deeper fringes of dance and electronic. Able to find a jazzy quality in the sounds of the natural world, his subtle blend of ambient, electronica, and deep house has a nineties ethereal element.

His first release on Bouquet: 'Further Afield' took field recordings from his recent time of the road. Introspective reveries blend with percussive feelings of movement. Mesmerising meditations inflected with his signature tendency to improvise, the record is the result of his deep connection with his surroundings as he traveled with receptivity to the influence of the environment on his mind.

A1. 'Denver Chimes' is built on a walk through the suburbs and the sound of chimes hanging next to a tire swing. But the macro view of that scene is the backdrop of the Rockies, and the end-of-tour feelings knowing you are about to board a plane home.

A2. Born in a thunderstorm followed by dense humidity neat Storm King in New York, 'Upstate Dream' is inspired by the experience watching it roll through the gorge and over the sculptures, moments before a torrential rain. But the track closes with the sonic images of sitting by the river as the sun re-emerges after the downpour.

B1. 'Further Afield' is titled after Gunter Grass's political novel, "Too Far Afield."
Melquiades' weeks in Berlin playing shows form the idea behind the track's cascading layers.

B2. 'Sprinkler' closes the EP inspired by recollections of summer festivals in Victoria mixed with flashes of memory of Australian Bush scenes. Like the other offerings of the record, it is the memories of Melquiades' home through the diffused haze of surealness, mixed with the excited energy that comes from life on the road.

Bouquet. was inspired by both the artistry of the tracks and the narrative feel of the concept.
Melquiades was making recordings as well as journaling his own thoughts and impressions from that worldwide trip. The resulting EP has that travelogue quality to it, and made it a perfect outfit for our fourth release, as continuing pandemic issues are driving our listeners further and further out to the deeper fringes of sound and a dip into the ambient pond. Meditations and improvisation.

All tracks written and performed by Alexander Albrecht - Extra percussion on Denver Chimes by Lachlan McGeehan. Mastering by Corey Kikos. Art by CM-DP.

Shortly after Joe Lewandowski's afro-house explorations comes the sophomore EP of Les Yeux Orange Records young alumni Ensthal (formerly known as n.stal) with a four-tracker depicting the dream-like state and excitation of a hazy night wandering in Paris, his hometown. While its opener, « Selective Behavior », is a full-on disco-house joint inviting us to put an end on quick judgments and hypocrisy, N.M.W. channels a Parisbound Detroit techno vibe and takes us to a journey of unadulterated warehouse fun, one organ at a time. On the flip comes « The Liquor Store », a five-minute auditory hallucination where keys and strings collide and disappear in the echoes of the heights of Montmartre. « Charlotte À L'Étage » finally closes our adventure on a jazzier note, an improvisation of sorts for the early-risers and those who, most likely, did not chose to sleep.

early support from Lee Burridge, Peter Kruder, Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick warren and more.

Lee Burridge: Johannesburg How can you not love this? :)

Peter Kruder: Johannesburg is amazing. Love it and will play it ! Thanks !

Pablo Bolivar: Aburaya (Original Vocal mix) Another silky release by the man!

Hernan Cattaneo: Iblard This really is excellent!!

Gab Rhome: Iblard 5 originals from powel? This one's a no brainer.

Guy J: Aburaya (Instrumental mix) Beautiful work, as expected. Thanks and good luck with this.

Nick Warren: Hang On Another top notch release from Powel.

Adam Port: Johannesburg is dope!

As the waves licked the shore, a sense of calm came over them. Contented calm. This was their happy place, their nirvana. Nothing could harm them here, there was only good, and love, and music from sunset to sunrise. 'Dawn till Dusk' they would call it, and soon it would attract others seeking the same things, the same calm contentment that only the music of sunrises and sunsets could provide. Music that captivates the mind, and frees the soul.

The first of them was Powel. A gifted musician from Germany, who has had previous releases on All Day I Dream, Do Not Sit, and Ajundadeep. Powel's music captures warm, airy atmospheres, and celestial rhythms, and he always finds a way to thread natural elegance, and tasteful patience in his productions.

Opening with 'Johannesburg' we are quickly transported into Powel's world. A sparse beat slowly transforming into a warm vibe with rhodesy keys, violins, and male vocal ad libs.

'The Grand Opening' named after (and also sampling) the Swedish band, adds live instrumentation to the deep house aesthetic with aplomb: gritty percussion drives the track, as airy harmonics drift in, and out of the mix.

'Aburaya' is next in both vocal, and instrumental form. Deeply Detroitian by design, the uplifting pads and keys made this life-affirming, it's crescendo shouting joy from the rooftops.

While wonky rubbery bass powers 'Hang On' forward with nuanced keys, and vocal shots ricocheting around your head.

Saving the best until last, 'Iblard' is the sparsest of all, its aquatic pads draws you in to a warm place, where discordant melodies swirl across the spilling, and dripping percussion, and a lazy bass sigh intermittently to make its presence known. Once the warbled radio static appears towards the end, you know peak satisfaction has been reached.

It's very apt that Powel is the first artist to release on new imprint Dawn till Dusk. The German epitomise music which captivates the mind and frees the soul, a notion the new label will encapsulate. This EP is the perfect start to the new project, music that can translate to desert dancefloors, or soundtrack sunrise/sunsets on the beaches of Ibiza.

Love Notes from Brooklyn offers up this platter from a very exciting new Brooklyn artist, Subtenant. As it says on the tin, The Artisanal Acid EP is heavy on the 303 squelches and emotional content. Each track has a unique pairing of soul and heavy acid funk. Evergeen Soul is the clear lead track here, using a female snippet to keep this otherwise tough little number dancefloor friendly. This track is then reworked by Detroit underground darling, D'Marc Cantu, who pitches things up into funky rave territory. The flip side sees the title track feature the most soulful chords on the entire record, and then on the B2 the artist himself takes to the mic on Know How It Feels. This whole EP feels live and direct from the Brooklyn underground.
