It is the year 2020, a year that addresses our awareness of diversity, tolerance and sustainability in an assorted, socio-cultural way. We translate this demand into music. "Nuthin' But A She Thang" focuses on a marginalised view of instrumental beat music.

This sampler, reflects a cross-section of the international female producer scene: 14 female artists, 8 countries, 4 continents, one language - music! The 14 instrumentals take the listener on a musical journey, which creates a tension between classic sample sound and modern current productions.

The many facets of female beat producing are presented by exclusive contributions by Ainie (DE) o Aygyul (AT) o Courtney Hawkins (US) o Da Chick (PT) o Georgia Anne Muldrow (US) o Gnarly (UK) o Jillesque (US) o Josi Miller (DE) o Julie Schatz (US) o Lisa Vazquez (US) o Sadiva (AUS) o Saltyyyy V (DE) o SOWALL (KOR) o USAGI (JP). Together with Stylefile as a cooperation-partner, we were able to persuade none other than HERA (DE). She implanted an even more artistic approach and added an exclusive artprint to this piece of music.

Five Metallic tracks from Poland’s Aheloy!

Alex Falk first showed up on our radar back in 2013 when his Terse EP dropped on Tennessee-based label Proper Trax. That record - specifically "PTR", which we pitched way down and turned way up - was a regular fixture on our platters, so we were stoked when the man in Knoxville got in touch with these groove-heavy, stripped-back floor fillers that now make up the Anjuna EP.

A re-issue of his record from 2000 on CHAIR RECORDINGS with both the original mix and the STEF "TECKNOSTEP" VERA remix. RICARDO VILLALOBOS played this a bunch over the years and it goes for big money on Discogs. Now getting a re-release on JAMES DUNCAN's INNERMOODS label. Hand stamped 1-sided 12".

A message to all listening: #DontjusttalkaboutitbeAboutIt. Jamal Moss (aka Hieroglyphic Being, Mathematics) invokes his JAI/MAHL alias with a message in the music. Reprogramming club consciousness with 4 transdimensional sonic incantations and rhythmic transgressions of the highest order.

'Middle of the Road Less Travelled' is not only the debut release by Michal Turtle on Light of Other Days, it is also his first new material released since the amazing reissues put out by Music From Memory in recent years. The three tracks on this EP were written and produced by Michal in 2017 with additional production and guitar playing by Light of Other Days' very own HOVE.

The two met back in 2016 when HOVE contacted Michal after he heard the 12' «Are you Psychic» and was blown away. As it turned out Michal was living in Basel which is only a short train ride away by train from the Light of Other Days home base in Zurich. The two started meeting and playing music together. Soon after, they put together a live-show for Michal's music which had its debut show at Phono Festival in Denmark in 2017. During this time, they started working on new music together as well. The result is this EP.

The music on 'Middle of the Road Less Travelled' is a continuation of Michal's musical exploration into other-worldly territory. Michal is a master in building hypnotic textures from repetitive rhythms that collide with trippy and atmospheric synthesizers. The delayed and dubby guitar lines by HOVE were recorded during rehearsal sessions in Michal's living room in Basel and the last track of the EP 'Agallo (Real)' ends with vocals performed by Lucianne Lassalle. Besides playing in local bands with Michal back in the 80s, Lucianne also performed and co- wrote early Michal Turtle tracks like 'Phantoms of Dreamland' or 'Village Voice' from his first record 'Music from the Living Room'.

It's always exciting to introduce new names to the Spring Theory roster and Pedro Vian, its latest addition, makes no exception to the rule. It's also the 10th release on Spring Theory, so more reasons to rejoice! The Barcelona-based producer came to (my) attention with his releases Dancing Hindus and Titled Beautiful Things You Left Us For Memories on his own label Modern Obscure Music. This EP picks up some of the themes from those records and further explores of his style of elegiac synth lines and primitive drum machines. The sound of dancing alone with your eyes closed, late at night. Haunting house for the heartbroken.

The Latest Rhythm Section International release comes all the way from down under and rest assured it is another BEAUTY! The record oozes jazz, lush orchestral experiments and downbeat, Detroit flavour house spread across 4 tracks of sun soaked productions from Melbourne Newcomer Prequel, who makes his debut on this hotly tipped Peckham Label.

Rising talent Rossi. returns to new FUSE imprint LOCUS as he delivers his full EP on the label, ‘Checkpoint.’.

One of the UK’s most hotly-tipped rising names within house and minimal, bubbling London-based DJ and producer Rossi. continues to grow and impress as an artist to watch with releases via the likes of Eastenderz, Tamango and META, and sets across leading institutions such as fabric, Warehouse Project, After Caposile and Watergate. Having originally made his debut on the label in August to remix Politics Of Dancing’s stand-out ‘Machines’, late-November now welcomes the release of his ‘Checkpoint.’ EP on LOCUS as he serves up four fresh productions from across the house sphere fuelled by his trademark, slinking sound.

Lead cut ‘In Village’ introduces a familiar soundscape for those accustomed with the UK talent’s catalogue as he goes to work combining skipping hats and bubbling bass pattern alongside breaks-infused drum arrangements and infectious sample interjections to deliver an up-front opener, whilst ‘For A Change’ introduces hazy chords and driving low-ends to the mix in impressive fashion. The B-side welcomes the arrival of ‘Orange Sky’, a classy effort led by organic percussion grooves, off-kilter samples and tripped out vocals, before closing via the snaking grooves and sci-fi electronics of the energetic ‘Pazzo’.

I’ve known Son Milton a long time. He's a couple year's older than me. He came of age in the rave era, sneaking in to Awesome 101 as a fresh faced 14 year old to catch Joey Beltram. You see he's always been a man of taste and from that he quickly gravitated to the raw sounds of Detroit and Chicago; UR, Relief, Cajual. The thing is, no one told him to do that. You need to know that no one in the wee town we grew up in was in to those sounds - he grew up in a council flat in a tough bit of town. No one clued him in to it, he got clued up himself. He was just compelled towards it. The music was him, he was the music and it’s been that way ever since.

By the time I met him in the late 1990s he’d already amassed (what still remains) the most mind blowing, deep collection of music (and music mags) I’ve raked through. Every KDJ and Theo release, GU, Boo, Drexciya, the lot. He lent me his Innerzone Orchestra ’Programmed’ 10” box set the first time I went to his house - I think maybe he was just happy to meet like minded folk in the same town. I accidentally tore won of the sleeves, he’s never forgiven me since.

Fast forward to the present day. I’d love to tell you the interim 20 years were productive ones but I honestly don’t know; my memory is a haze. I think we were in a band together, we DJ’d together, partied a bit. But this EP is a product of all that time, all that endurance. It’s the sound of an emotional memory bank, the images aren’t clear but the feeling is real. And how many times can you truly say that these days?

Tuff Sherm (also known for his work as Dro Carey) has become an extremely prolific and well acclaimed producer over the years with releases on The Trilogy Tapes, Berceuse Heroique and Opal Tapes. A long time in the works, this versatile release increases in intensity from relaxed lounge piano and slap bass grooves on the A side to full out melodic tribal techno on the B.

The WDV (Wave Digital Voice) concept is a collection of releases inspired by the UK's fractal terrain and computer generated art subculture which fronted led the AI scene in the early 90s. The project takes on a heady reflection of WDVs interpretation of fractal generation styles and the mind bending impact they delivered for the 'visual' dancer... WDVs ethos for the project merges a fascination with fractal comparable wavetable design and synthesis - in particular Waldorf's impact in the era with the Wave - the future of wavetable synthesis delivered at the highest level.

Yak’s ‘Mido / Darunia’ 12” on Version caught the ears of everyone here at Phonica so we’re delighted to welcome him to the family and release his new four track ‘Gerudo EP’ on our main label.

Sheffield-based Yak (John Randall) is a classically trained instrumentalist whose releases for the likes of R&S, 3024 and Black Beacon have all received support from DJs such as Ben UFO, Midland, Joy Orbison, Objekt, Call Super, Or:la and Lauren Halo amongst many others.

This new 12” is a great example of how percussion can be the vital core to direct movement on a dancefloor. The record opens with ‘Zip’, a nod to the housier tracks that introduced Yak to electronic music. Fine keyboard details add a shades of Techno to a track built on its organic drum break and undulating bassline. ‘Guevenne Groove’ keeps percussion as its main element, utilising a powerful kick as primary operator and adding colourfully breezy keyboards, which Randall says are inspired by roleplaying video game soundtracks.

On the flip ‘Fret’, one of the EP’s most club-focused tracks. Spacey warped synths construct the melodies while an initially off-kilter drum-groove glues the track’s elements together before resulting in the record’s peak dancefloor moment. Finally the EP comes to an end with title track ‘Gerudo’, floating a wash of synth textures and airy pads over another of Yak’s signature percussive drum tracks. A euphoric end to the journey.

The 44th Move occurred during the six match chess battle between Deep Blue (IBM) vs Kasparov (Grandmaster) in 1996/97. The 44th Move per se represents the moment when a human being (Kasparov) realised he was facing a superior intellect (Deep Blue). The 44th Move was a glitch? The 44th Move is the anonymous combination of two established creative minds adding bugs to the source code of Jazz. From the word go ‘Broken’ is unquestionably crafted by two skilled musicians. Intricate drums, twinkling melodies and a sultry bassline generate a thoughtful composition comprising multiple interlocking layers and compelling emotion. On the flip, Dan Shake packs more punch with a house remix complete with purposeful kick drums, however it still retains the original’s charm by incorporating all of its classy elements.

This is the forth release on this 10" label and we still have no information about the artists or anyone else involved in the project.

Debut EP on Neroli for the talented DEENAMIC. After his previous ep on Freebeat and and the appeareance on the limited Neroli XXX seven inch, expectations are very high on the output of the young spanish producer. Here he doesn’t disappoint with the ultimate banger ‘Out Of My Mind’, the syncopated ‘Sambù’ and the distorted affair ‘The Bitter Truth’ but also showing more sides of his sound like in the downtempo groover ‘Dayride’.

Ever-impressing UK talent James Dexter makes a return to Bondage-Music this December as he drops his latest three track EP 'Let's Go Back.

2018 has been a substantial year for London based DJ and producer James Dexter, with appearances at the likes of fabric (London), Claire (Amsterdam) and Sash (Sydney) and releases on Little Helpers, Gruuv, Deeperfect and his own Inermu imprint in the past 12 months alone. With the New Year in sight, here we find three new fresh productions in the form of his 'Let's Go Back' EP, marking a return to Bondage Music in the process following his recent remix of Frink's 'Sofisticate' on the imprint.

Title cut 'Let's Go Back' opens proceedings as Dexter reveals an up-front, bumping cut armed with crunchy drum licks, infectious vocal samples and rich, airy chords, before 'Simple Things' utlises further rich and soulful vocals alongside crisp skipping hats and resonant kicks to guide the production through seven minutes of groove driven house music. Last up, Dexter's 'Roll Through' pairs refined, stripped back organic percussion arrangements with wandering synth lines and vocal coos to wrap up the EP in fine fashion.

We are happy to finally introduce our label newcomer and multi-instrumentalist Lopal with his debut EP. Teasingly and with great finesse Lopal (@lopalmusic) intertwines powerful chords, twinkling melodies and a snugly baseline towards distant climaxes, which seem near and yet far away as he unhastily stacks up hypnotic patterns.

Louie Vega goes back to his freestyle music roots and collaborates with one of the top artists in the game George LaMond. Born in Georgetown, Washington D.C. LaMond has released over seven albums and has had many top club and radio hits throughout his career. He’s had a number one salsa smash with “Que Te Vas” which spawned an RIAA-certified gold album. It was in no time that Vega reached out to LaMond with an idea of going back to his freestyle roots and recording 5 artists from that genre of music.

“George LaMond first up”, Vega says, “we wanted to redo a jam that was also played in the freestyle club world and is a vintage classic, the Spanish band Barrabas hit “Woman” was the perfect one to remake. Long Island dj/producer Frankie C was also working on a “Woman” remake and brought it to me for Vega Records. I thought George LaMond had the perfect voice for it, and when it came time for the session he knew exactly how to execute the song, I then brought in my Elements Of Life band on the rhythm section we were able to create a four floor percussive groove and a salsa version as well. The signature Barrabas electric guitar riffs courtesy of Mike Ciro, Gene Perez on bass, Axel Tosca on keyboards, and Luisito Quintero on percussion was a perfect fit!”.

The release offers sizzling remixes by house music pioneer David Morales, taking the track straight to peak time on the dance floor with a main and dub version. Frankie C Long Island Native, produces full on House and Brazilian versions, he knew exactly what needed to be done. There are over 8 versions to choose from and the vinyl package will be stunning. That Dope Loop Pinning down Sascha Dive as Cocoons deephouse wunderkind wouldn't really hit the nail on the head however it isn't far from truth. Compared to most other artists of this genre he can for sure be classified as a young gun but there is no soundproof for his age in his music at all. Sascha Dive's music is loaded with a respectful amount of taste and house history you would normally find in the productions and DJ-sets of artists who started in the early 90s. And this is not unwanted: Dive admires and follows the big names of house and deep house and his musical efforts to pay respect to them brought him on par with his legends! So it's no wonder that Sascha Dive productions found their way to top notch labels like Tsuba, Freebase, Deep Labs (Balance US) or Raum...Musik. Not to forget his release for Ornaments and the Moodyman remix for 'Deepest America". Having in mind where Dive started with his first album 'Restless Nights' and what he achieved until he received remix-honours from Mister Kenny Dixon Jr. one could think Sascha Dive scored all goals he wanted to score. However the journey didn't stop here: Being a Cocoon artist and having played for some of the major Cocoon nights in Ibiza and around the globe Dive incorporated a decent amount of electronic soul and after-hour-madness to his music over the last years. He even admits that his current productions and DJ-sets are definitely influenced by current techno- and techno-house artists and this special feeling this music adds to a party. And this progression is clearly audible in his new and upcoming album 'Dark Shadow' which is a great example of the sound of Sascha Dive in the year 2013.

D.Tiffany lands on Coastal Haze

Clip! steps up to the plate as FINA White continues to set out its stall as a go-to label for top quality techno.

Second up on FINA White is a four tracker from rising Barcelona producer, Clip! Since being cherry picked by RBMA back in 2011 Clip! has quickly established a name for himself in and amongst the city's growing pool of electronic artists and further beyond. Diverse releases on on Discomaths, Classicworks, Sweat Taste and JD Records, coupled with his signature 'hardware only' live shows, showcase his sound shifting style and impressive knowledge of sound design - unsurprising perhaps given his classical and jazz music roots.

Clip! is a chameleon of sorts and for FINA White, he puts on his thick skin and offers up a package of pure and unadulterated peak time cuts.

The title track is an absolute sonic stonker. Its menacing bass line, low end throb and sharp edged hats roll and slice with a galvanized intent whist the old Chicago house sample and gradual layering of pumped up beats and sustained synths give it an unmistakable groove with attitude.

Meanwhile, long drawn out synth tones, distorted vocals and broken beats make up the stirring intro of 'R36'. The calm is short lived of course as the steady beat gives way into the track's defining hard-hitting bassline; one that is enveloped and then let loose again by a carefully crafted fusion of atmospheric sounds.

On the flip side, 'Forward' is, well... forward; a no messing, relentlessly percussive banger. And wrapping up the EP is 'Dissonance's Technique' an equally straight-up, rough n ready belter which once again showcases Clip!'s skills in the studio. Watch his space.

Mavericks of the musical landscape, Brooklyn’s finest genre-defying duo Dave + Sam release their anticipated debut album ‘No Shade’ on Classic Music Company this spring, a thirteen-track narration of the 21st century experience, told through the eyes of vocalist Dave Giles II and production maestro Sam O.B. With the aim to package love, empowerment and socio-political commentary into a collection of tracks that never compromise on groove or soul, this enchanting album never loses sight of its message as it journeys from deep Chicago house and otherworldly melodies to funk-laden jams and adventurous studio experimentation.

Hinged tightly by the soulful nuances of Moodymann, Mos Def and Gil Scott Heron, Dave’s captivating spoken word delivery is purposeful and considered, as Sam weaves rhythms and grooves so deep you can get lost in them – the two musical narratives working in perfect harmony. Impassioned cuts like ‘Facts’, ‘Worth It’ and ‘Sauce’ leverage hip-hop’s tradition of battle rap against white supremacist rhetoric, a message that remains ever more relevant in today’s political climate. Title track ‘No Shade’, ‘Day One (Oh Baby)’ and ‘Can’t Get Enough’ allow stories of love and loss to unfold to the listener, while the stripped-back grooves of ‘Round The Way’ and ‘You Da Shit Girl’ add another dimension to the album. Featuring a number of collaborators such as Chicago legend Mike Dunn, powerhouse vocalist Ramona Renea and fellow Brooklyn natives Cor.Ece and LATASHÁ, ‘No Shade’ is an evocative, powerful and joyful experience when played in its entirety.

Recorded in Brooklyn’s Bedford Stuyvesant, a neighbourhood bearing the scars of over-policing and encroaching gentrification, the vibrancy of the community and its unyielding history of creative expression shines through on the album’s entirety. As products of such environments, Dave + Sam’s music is resilient, revolutionary and organic in equal parts. An homage to their mutual reverence for early Chicago house and the golden era of underground parties in New York, ‘No Shade’ is a riveting body of work ready for you to lose yourself in.

Tasty Treats Squad is a new project created by Mirko Casalini for his label Tasty Treats Records.

The track is a blend of latin,blues and jazz influences blended on this groovy bassline.

B-side mix,with a powerful drums section and more percussions elements,has been touched by Mirko to create a dancefloor oriented version of the track.

After a series of sonic happenings at London's The Lion & Lamb in 2018, Bobby Pleasure's Pleasure Club now sends its first signals out into the observable universe.

For his first solo release N-Gynn serves up a 4 track EP spanning spacey house, techno and electro. Hardware hallucinations fused with machine mysticism to produce interstellar introspection. A collection of recordings that are at once entirely familiar whilst also completely alien.

Craigie Knowes continue their long-running War Child fundraiser series with a new 2x12" release featuring tracks from Eluize, DJ Python, Stellar OM Source, Innnershades, No Moon, The Burrell Connection and more. From ambient and downbeat through to techno and electro, the release spans the sounds that Craigie Knowes have embraced over the last 5 years. The fourth installment of the project also sees a completely new sleeve and center label design by Kyle Morrison. All profits donated to War Child UK, a charity helping children in areas of conflict around the world.

Ruff Stuff inaugurates his new Sculptures imprint this February with ‘The Faster Buster’ EP, comprising four originals from the Berlin-based artist.

Sculptures Records is the new label from Ruff Stuff, a new platform designed to showcase material from predominantly up and coming artists who use physical machines to craft and sculpt their music, using their hands and real tools to create unique pieces of art. This stands as the ethos for Sculptures and its output moving
forward, which will aesthetically lean towards house and deep house sounds with forays into electro.

The label-head Ruff Stuff steps up first to inaugurate things here and leads the release with ‘Give Me A Break’, employing organic drums and dubbed out stabs at its core before the latter half of the composition introduces a rave-tinged disorienting synth
hook. Title-cut ‘Faster Buster’ follows next, this time round employing swirling pads, bumpy drums and gritty stab sequences as it’s core alongside hypnotic vocal chants and squelching 303 bass notes.

‘Bunker Mood’ opens the flip side, fuelled by dusty drums and a snaking bass groove while an amalgamation of airy chords, tension building strings and vocal samples carry the groove. ‘Rules Breaker’ then closes the package with a contrasting feel, bringing a
choppy square wave bass line and resonant synth licks to the forefront alongside off-kilter, skippy drums and ethereal pads ebbing and flowing within.

Channel Six Music Company presents its first debut in vinyl format, with 4 channels produced and directed by Alex Gomez, Jamezy, AJFV, Back Is Beautifull, G.Zamora showing their domains in Deep House, Soul, Afro House.

Such as its main inspiration concept, the label takes time to release records. Waiting is way more interesting than rushing as both

observative and contemplative behaviours bring inspiration to the top (subjective feeling). However, Godot can't wait too much...

Otherwise we lose the progression and the whole concept collapses (objective feeling) which leads to nonsense, chaos and un-

concrete creations that don't deserve any release. This contemplative feeling is like a private Yard where ideas can grow, and

orchard where the harvest can be done when needed. Keeping that way, Arminj keeps Mr Godot Rising... and so do you.

The Daydream family is growing up, following a solid fourth various, this fifth release welcomes a new talented quartet from all over Europe: Casey Spillman, Worker Union, Noah Skelton and Stevn.aint.leavn.The recipe is unchanged: spacey pads, galactic synths, warm rhythm and strong beats for a dreamy trip across house music. Once again, all is gathered to make a perfect four tracker that grooves between deep, micro and techno.

Cinthie´s Berlin Based imprint Beste Modus return this May with a new EP entitled BesteModus 07 featuring tracks from Cinthie and label co-founder stevn.aint.leavn. Fresh from a strong January release, theBeste Modus crew lookset to take 2017 by storm, this time with a versatile record that yet again raises the bar within the contemporary house scene.
