We're quite agnostic, and unreligious, but if there is any vibes associated with the EP (and maybe all of our music) it is very Buddhist in its ideas. Mindful. Aware of impermanence.
The whole EP is about being with the one(s) you love when everything else around you breaks down. Looking inward, with pure love, in the hope to radiate outward, rather than pushing for a fight, or running away. Recorded, written, and produced in isolation by Stephen and Penelope on our own in East London Studio space.
The EP starts with the song 'End Of Times' which is a dramatic, Shangri-Las influenced take on feeling powerless in a chaotic world, but still high on love. Happiness can be found in analog reverb. This is followed by 'Serenity', a hard and tranquil meditation of past + future.
Side 2 leads with 'Heart Control', with a slight nod to Pink Floyd. A nine minute plea to ourselves to keep it all focused and under control... The EP closes with 'Darkness Falls'. The lyrics for this came from an apocalyptic dream that Penelope had, and wrote down in the morning. the music is 100% purely modular, er, except for the tiny bits of guitar at the end.

Yr Body Is Nothing was originally released by DKA Records. All three LP pressings sold out in a matter of weeks. With a heavy emphasis on rhythm and atmosphere, the 10-songs presented here showcase a songwriting and production style that is sophisticated and unique, dark but powerfully uplifting. The sound is paradoxically massive yet minimal, providing the perfect space for Jae Matthews’ rich, deep, and emotive vocals to occupy as she, along with co-pilot Gus Muller, pulls the listener ever deeper with each passing song.

BOY HARSHER is a dark electronic duo that produces gritty dance beats infused with ethereal vocals, creating a sound that is eerie, intense and incredibly danceable. A near-perfect record, White Magic was the lauded CD-only debut album by Sorcerer (Californian native Dan Judd, one half of Windsurf with Hatchback). Just in time for Spring/Summer, we present the first ever vinyl issue, released as a deluxe double LP.

Back in summer 2007, this majestic set gently nestled itself into the Balearic soundtrack-to-summer slot for many, making him a household name for Cosmic Disco heads alongside the likes of Lindstrom, Metro Area, Todd Terje, Mudd, Studio and Quiet Village. In the intervening years, exceptional producers have created vibrant variations on the dreamy, dubby, melodic nu-disco theme. Happily, the emergence of such luminaries as Jex Opolis, Harvey Sutherland, Suzanne Kraft, Tornado Wallace et al has only served to make the master - Sorcerer - sound ever more brilliant and vital.

Utilising his array of guitars, drum machines, synths, and trusty MPC, the loved-up Sorcerer sound inspires halcyon memories of warm days, endless sunsets and pure youthful abandon. Influenced by surf, 80s dance pop, acid-R&B, space jazz, krautrock, disco, dub, and am radio gold, his music maps a tour through a uniquely Californian lifestyle. Yet when music so vividly captures a vibe and a feeling, it can make writing about it appear almost redundant. Instead, to glean the full colour of what your turntable will soon gratefully radiate, we prescribe the generous soundclips presented here.

"White Magic is a reflection of personal freedom and discovery. Having been in bands for years, this was a chance to develop music that stood alone and for me to be in full control.

I was living alone and worked on jams whenever I could. I was highly inspired by a new openness to music as a pure inspiration, not being part of any scene. I tapped into the mixes I was hearing coming out the UK where deejays were playing "cosmic" sounds that were so strangely familiar.

I was picking up all kinds of $1 vinyl and throwing bits of it into my sampler almost randomly to see what would come out.

In my mind, I was making music to be played at my friend's Broker/Dealer Pop nights where they fused golden German techno sounds with the new disco emerging at the time. Also, I took vacations and reconnected with the Pacific Ocean where I spent so much time as a kid: it spilled out into the sounds.

Lastly, I forged a partnership with Hatchback (Sam Grawe) who was working on music in the same way. I learned so much about arrangement and the colors of music. We began recording together as Windsurf and released our own stuff. It all seems like a small glorious moment in time, so I am so excited to keep the legacy alive and I continue to work on my music with these spirits inside of me."

Lovingly remastered by the esteemed Simon Francis, cut reassuringly loud on to heavyweight double vinyl and presented in a deluxe gatefold jacket with freshly commissioned artwork throughout from original designer Rich Robinson, this limited edition of 500 copies is sure to fly.

"Neon Leon's is the name of a bar in a Elmore Leonard book I was reading on a vacation to Belize with my future wife. I was soaking up his brand of noir during the making of the songs on this record, along with another favorite Ross Macdonald. We were living in a small apartment in the Mission District of San Francisco where i had my own room to jam. It was painted Orange and Turquoise and was a very inspiring place to create and focus. I could walk out of my house to any number of hole in the wall bars where people were deejaying, hanging-out, and knew about me and my music.

After White Magic I developed more confidence in my style and process so I stuck with it and I believe it shows in the tunes I selected for the record. The sounds are rich and I dug deeper into sampling from obscure dollar records and getting looser musically. I made a handful of collage videos for the tracks at this time as well, which represent where my mind was at visually. In my mind it's Cosmic Funk that rules the day and I am thankful to have the opportunity to share it with the world again."

Quirke returns with three introspective tracks that take inspiration from philosophical queries and wonderment related to both the world we live in now, and that which we have inherited from those that came before us.

Continuing on from Vol 1's theme of established artists working in disguise, 'Music First Vol 2' delivers another sonic assault with this absolute rollercoaster ride of a record. The mysterious Scorpio T opens the EP with 'Neptune Rising', a squelching acid-bass boomer that can simultaneously spiritually elevate and physically devastate any dancefloor. Rounding off Side A it's followed by Scandalous Arthur's 'Acid In My Mind', a lo-fi tape-hissed jacking beast of a banger that sounds like it's genuinely been brewing in a vat of highly toxic acid for at least 25 years and guaranteed to melt your mind. On the flipside comes JaX DaX returning from Vol 1 with the low-frequency moody slo-mo electro workout 'Fucking Computer' that oozes bad attitude and booty-shaking basslines in equal abundance. Bringing the trip to a close is Kyrenic Azalee with the self-titled 'Kyrenic Azalee', an x-rated new beat tour-de-force of epic proportions that will fry minds and bodies with its relentless energy. Pinkman delivers another sturdy record for the connoisseurs of discomforting electronics. The second 5 Years Of Tears release unifies 6 artists, each with their own interpretation of the labels ill-famed sound, embodied in vibrating basslines, metallic beats, and corrosive acid. Gear yourself up for yet more nerve-racking music and get accustomed to the obscurity of this series of releases, because the madness is all but finished.

The Mexican platform Comunité returns with its second outpost in the form of a Various Artist package showcasing some of the core
players featured on the 2018 bill of the festival. Through a heap of selected works of both regulars and newcomers - COM002 offers a glimpse of the festival's signature curation of eclectic tastes, from prime-time floor fillers blended in with experimental acoustic sorcery.The 12' kicks off with a notorious collaboration between two regulars of the Tulum-based event: Tijuana's Soul of Hex mind-bending classic approach to house music amalgamated with Mule Musiq's Kuniyuki and his complex synth work - culminating in Dampe, a 7 minute joint-effort between Mexico and Japan. A2 continues in the vein of Cuba's Alpha 606 - a fresh artist debut on the label. Through staggering hi-hat work and filtered synth pad beds, the Miami based artist showcases his signature electro style that blends An undoubtable latin rhythmic influence with drum machines and LFO-grooved melodies forming 'Shadow'. On the flip side, Mexico City's techno veteran Itzone takes the floor with an introductory ambient piece featuring a vocal narrative that highlights inspirational and mystic concepts-serving as both an interlude as well as a commencement to the rest of the package. Comunités regular JoSep takes on the torch afterwards, providing his always floor-ready 4/4 hypnotic debauchery and shining a light On one of the festival's core aesthetics. Closing off the second instalment of the label, Mexico City's AAAA offers his signature plate of modular synthesis-based experiments, welcoming into his realm of apocalyptic concepts simultaneously to a soothing closure of the record; a magnifying glass into one of Mexico's front-running creational platforms.

The Micronaut creates the soundtrack for those moments when the screeching of the subway and the steps on the wet pavement have echoed away into the dark city sky. Those moments when the ghosts of fumes and stop lights haunt the empty streets, when behind glowing windows dreams and urban exit strategies get ready for bed. When everybody is close to each other, but everyone is on his own. When the city comes to a standstill, but the wheels inside the heads of its inhabitants keep spinning. Stefan Streck discovers the musical equivalent for this epic atmosphere somewhere between Bass Music, Electronica and Pop. The cinematic soundscapes of his nocturnal City Blues have a somewhat tragic vibe, which is very noticeable both during the impulsive, passionate live shows of The Micronaut and on 'Forms', his third studio album on Acker Records, distributed through Kompakt. Between moments of deep melancholy and sudden eruptions of blissful euphoria he creates a feverish state of tension.

The first Sincopat Vinyl Sampler meets two amazing talents from
Spain. Piek shows his track Paunk and also the Marco Resmann
remix, and AFFKT presents the remix he made for Third Son, and
the original mix of The Show, feat. Sutja Gutierrez.

In late 2017, Thomas Gandey and Danny McLewin - known from the popular disco-influenced electronic music collective Psychemagik - emerged from their studio in Bordeaux, France, claiming to have produced an extended musical arrangement, both entitled, and containing the sounds of, the shakuhachi. Furthermore, they insisted, for the purposes of this production, and a further album of related arrangements to be released subsequently in conjunction with the successful German record label Kompakt, they should be referred to henceforth as Ghost Vision. Shortly thereafter, the audio recordings described by Gandey and McLewin came into the possession of noted Los Angeles degenerate, DJ and nymphomaniac (citation needed) Dirty Dave, who was quick to relay the hallucinatory qualities of the duo's productions to fellow DJ and trusted hallucinogenic expert Paramida, of esteemed German musical imprint Love On The Rocks.

Paramida, recognising the innate quality of the sounds presented to her, decided that such recordings warranted immediate release through her audio distribution channel, and not without remixes. Quite without thinking of the origins of the instrument which had given the recording its particular sonic distinguishment, and of course, its title, she enlisted the help of two musicians named Alex - one from Tokyo, and one from Kyoto. Both Alex From Tokyo - teaming up with his colleagues Isao Kumano & Kenichi Takagi as Tokyo Black Star, known for their prior releases on popular German label Innervisions - and his counterpart, Alex from Kyoto, better known as Al Kassian, rising Tamagotchi on Paramida's Love On The Rocks imprint, and his own label, Planet Sundae - turned in striking reinterpretations of Gandey and McLewin's composition. It was reported that upon their arrival and first listen at Love On The Rocks headquarters, wild dancing broke out almost immediately and did not stop for more than 36 hours.

The resulting package of stereo recordings was finally released for public broadcast and manipulation by disc jockeys in early 2018, to much rejoicing, from London to L.A., throughout Europe, Japan and everywhere music is played. It marked the first release for the label in their fourth year of operation, in which, it has been noted, there is much to look forward to.

Carl Finlow aka Silicon Scally, aka Random Factor amongst other aliases, released his first record on Warp in 1993. A prolific producer since then, he's delivered more than 100 releases including 11 albums on labels such as SCSI-AV, Soma and 2020 Vision. Now based in Toulouse, Finlow has showcased his extensive electro and house music performances in Japan, USA, Russia and Europe, including a stint at Sonar in Barcelona in 2000.

Finlow delivers a wide range of styles on this E.P. yet all can be neatly filed under what is arguably his strongest genre: electro. Projections and Thermal Image are laid back affairs reminiscent of LTJ Bukem's flavour of D&B, albeit played at 33rpm, then over to the tougher Miami-bass with Rift and Override. All executed with the precision, melody and craftsmanship he is known for.

Mick has been active in the seedier corners of electronic music for more than 30 years, first immersing himself in the world of hi-NRG and new wave before embracing the house, techno, acid and electro explosion of the late 1980s. Aligned with DJ Hell in the 90s and more recently the Intergalactic FM crew, he's the quintessential selector. A life spent digging in the undergrowth for deviant dance music has given him the edge that makes a truly gifted spinner, without riding on hype or studio productions. However, Mick isn't adverse to the odd outing on vinyl, having previously appeared on International DJ Gigolos both solo and as The Kinky Lovers with sometime partner Isabella Venis, but these moments are few and far between. For this release on Arma, Mick has given us two edits that speak to his distinctive style as a DJ - the original tracks are cult choices re-moulded into deadly, subversive club weapons. The brooding darkwave of 'Himmelfahrt 89' is enough to turn the most indifferent bar crowd into swaying, baying denizens of the night, while 'Stay Silent' pummels out a relentless electro motif that teeters on the edge of destruction for 11 thrilling minutes. These aren't crowd-pleasing DJ tools, and neither are they slick and easy edits of obvious classics. This is a peek into the inner workings of a man with decades of experience working masses of flesh into a sweaty fever pitch using sounds you've never heard before. The mastering on Mick's edits was undertaken by none other than Dutch electro legend Rude 66, while the striking artwork on the sleeve sees Arma reach out for the first time to French artist Judex. Made up of the production outfit NU - based in Germany but clearly well travelled and open to diverse sounds from around the globe- this EP is full of groove laden sunshine vibes. 'Endup' is the lead track - a swingy, afro-tinged disco outing with warm, trippy percussion and a hypnotic, joyful vocal sample sure to bring smiles to every dancefloor. 'Cosa Mia' slows things down a few BPM - a chugging beat and balearic vibe, enhanced by a beautiful string section that makes this a no-brainer for a sunrise / sunset session. 'Palomita' delivers a similar feel, but with slightly more drive to it - shifting from a mid tempo groover to a latin hip shaker with perfect aplomb. This three tracker is going to win the hearts of open-minded DJs and dancers alike.

After releasing SPACE CONTROL an intergalactic journey into synthesizers, back in 2012, the Theremynt duo went on to release a successful, if steady, stream of EPs, including 'Robotique de l'Amou'r and 'Vampiros Discos' (a tribute to Brazilian filmmaker Ze do Caixao). With remixes coming from the likes of David Carretta, Acid Washed and Club Bizarre, these were playlisted by scene DJs such as Marvin & Guy and Ivan Smagghe, amongst others.

Now Yann and Eva are striking back with their second LP, Parallels.

It's a record that sees them changing their colour palette and mood, but one that's still haunted by ghosts that lurk within their synthesizers and drum machines. The 10 tracks still exhibit Peel's ever shifting vocal style and Yann's sophisticated arrangements. But the second LP oscillates between ballad and dancefloor, landing between cosmic disco influences, Krautrock and other progressive techno sounds. As a bonus, the album also features a cover of famous 80's anthem Self Control. (Raf & Laura Branigan).

With releases in labels like Ombra International, and remixed by amazing artists such as Emperor Machine or Moscoman, now it's time to give welcome to these guys to Rotten City with an EP composed by two wicked original pieces full of electronics & dark ethnic sounds for the dance floor plus remixes from the mexicans Zombies In Miami and the lisergic italian duo Mushrooms Project. The first track on the A side is Samarkanda, a trip into the middle east. Slow and mechanical funk mixed with arabian sounds giving an ethnic touch to the darkness of the track.
After, we find The Souk, continuing the style of Samarkanda but in this case more narcotic, acid and deep than the previous.
On the B side we find the amazing 'Audio Guide Remix' from Zombies In Miami, and as the name says, it introduces us in the mode of a guided ceremony, in a shamanic ritual that will make us find our own fears so we can let them go on the dance floor letting us flow through much more exciting places than the ones our mind normally is. Close your eyes and prepare to ride. Finally, the remix of Mushrooms Project offers another good trip for the head. Longer, deeper, more narcotic if is possible than the original and retaining that ancient and dark atmosphere. Startling.

Nahezu unheimliche Soundstrukturen steigen aus einem Meer an Stimmern empor und bilden ungewöhnliche wie komplexe Akkorde und Harmonien. This is music that comes from playing records. DJ Fiskars have done it for 15 years, subconsciously gathering an assortment of ideas, vibes and moments on the job. It's only now as he's starting his career as a recording artist those ideas start to materialize in an accessible form on wax. It's fair to suggest that the record has a day side and a night side. 'Filippa' is a somewhat balearic piece: on the shelf it lands somewhere between your Omar S records and a Mario Kart disc. On the flip, 'Key Largo's' mellow yet banging house grooves drop especially well at the after hours party. The release also marks the dawn of Fiskars' new vinyl-first imprint Leave the Man in Peace with His Kit - be on the lookout for more releases in 2018.

The idea of purity is always recurring when talking about techno. Although purism has long been relegated to a mere excuse for fear, when understood not as vindication of a certain dogma, but as a way of approaching creative expression, purity is, as a matter of a fact, inseparable from the genre. After all, techno is something like the pursuit of transcendence - either visceral, cerebral or spiritual - through the strictly necessary means only. The search of the truest forms by just outlining them. All of this brings us to the story of 'Uniformity', Orbe's first release for Hivern. The 12 comes wrapped in a screen printed sleeve with design by Arnau Pi.

The six selected homerecordings from 2011-2016 reflect almost a chronological and kaleidoscopic journey through the authors musical explorations, instrumental storytelling and unique sound design, imaginatively non-locking to existing genres. From subtle vocals to vicious toms; celestial soundscapes over restless rubbery bass; shimmering synths over polyrhythmic structures - an environment of romantic futurism and organic transformation appears, surrounded by a warm psychedelic sound palette. 8* Following recent excursions channeling the big room sound, Project Pablo returns with a sleeker, more refined EP for Technicolour.The resulting five tracks span upbeat opener 'Napoletana' - a rough and ready duet between a MFB 522 drum machine and Juno 106', through the swirling improvised piano loops of 'Last Day' - recorded in an hour just before he packed up his gear at the studio of fellow Montreal residents Braids and moved it all home, to the bumpy 2-step of 'Less and Less'. The Canadian producer has had a stream of quality releases via labels such as Clone's Royal Oak imprint, Spring Theory, Lone's Magicwire and most recently Ninja Tune's Technicolour imprint.

Fireplays (also spelled Fireplais' on second single) was the moniker chosen in 1981 by italian producer Franco Pagliaccia foran instant-band project composed by him and a few other musicians.

A1: When Suddenly : Acid
With Cosmo Vitelli's trademark style being eclectism, it's pointless to pin down this track to a specific genre. Borrowing from the kind of disco not disco and acid-without-303 vibes that I'm a Cliché is famous for, this is an instantly gratifying tune where synthesizers are engaged in call and response melodies in an elegant take on the idea of machine funk. The result is catchy, refreshing and primed for the dancefloor.
A2: El Si Señor (Skinny version)
If you think this track is just a tool, then you're only getting half of the picture. Skinny but chock-full of melodic and percussive content with a plodding rhythmic section moving at around 105 BPM. This is a downtempo track where heartfelt melodies, sound effects, and pristine seamless arrangements are used with great results by Cosmo Vitelli.
B1:The Cemetery of Unsigned House Tracks
Clocking at 9 minutes, don't get fooled by the track's tongue-in-cheek title, we're dealing here with a seriously epic tune. Set in an endlessly rising motion, the track begins with a refined but twisted vibe, sparse but ominous guitars and plenty of FX. Gradually, an infectious synth arpeggio rises and carries with it the whole track, some sort of hypnotic and sensual monster, utterly irresistible on the dancefloor.
B2: El Si Señor (Soundtrack Version)
With melodies that are more expansive and at the fore, leaving the rhythmic section discernible but clearly in the background, this version of El Si Senor is a reference to 70s film music, and this bittersweet tune closes the EP in style.

The NOWHERE 01 Vinyl Sampler is a carefully curated selection of freshly crafted propellants pressed on wax for the very first time. Quince gives us a saturated electronic work-out, combining gritty drum sounds with bass guitar and odd timed synth zaps. Kurt Baggaley's Detect was a digital exclusive from his Remembering Infinity EP, now finally available on black gold! It features a similar electro groove but uses artificial intelligence to add vocoder sounds and digitally aliased robot tears. Fader From Borneo takes a more frontal approach providing a catchy bass riff with warm pads and synthesised strings to guide you in a comfortable trance.

On the B-side we find Kiani & His Legion with another one of his emo burners, trademark nature inspired synth sounds and cinematic storytelling intertwine, pure bliss. Closing off this vinyl sampler is Sigward with a trippy and hypnotising cut that draws you in with razor-sharp synth signposts. As if warping through a tunnel of constantly shifting coloured lights, 'and then I flew out...'. Something is happening somewhere, but where...

Rebolledo's YOU AND YOUR HIPPIE FRIENDS imprint grows its groove footprint on international dance floors with the full-length debut of GÜERO, the latest vinyl outing from the Hippie Dance sister label and also its first fully fledged album project. To attentive hippie friends, the artist name should ring a big, funky bell - one that sounds exactly like the cut 'Convertible Ride' from the notorious 'A Very Nice Combinado Volume Uno' 12' release (YAYHF 01).
Back then, our hero was travelling under the somewhat more convoluted 'El Güero Fresa' monicker, but has since dropped some of those conceptual pounds in an effort to reach maximum sleekness. In the same vein, his debut album is a testament to ultimate funk-a-ficiency, digging deep into fizzy arpeggios and chunky basslines - and the occasional guitar cameo, giving tracks such as bubbling synth opener ELEKTRONIQUE, the neon-lit NIGHT CRUISING, bouncing electro disco roller ALTO FINAL or the programmatic SPACE DRIFTER just that little extra riff.
GUITAR MAYHEM, however, is anything but - you'll discover a pretty dank bouncer and certainly not the squealing meltdown one would expect. TECHNO MINIMAL doesn't do what it says on the tin, either, opting for an energetic bass 'n' organ workout instead. By now, you'll begin to understand why the album's called MY WAY MY RULES: GÜERO takes whatever sonic path he desires, no matter what - which is precisely why he chimes so well with YOU AND YOUR HIPPIE FRIENDS's steadily expanding motley crew of rave misfits and studio drop-outs. After his collaboration with Adam Beyer Joseph Capriati teams up with Flavio Folco for the second Redimension with a fully analogue production in the studio. A wide range of sounds taking you deeper into their idea of space, dimension and possible destinations. Joseph's creativity received a new drive from the collaboration with the emerging talent Flavio Folco whose musical roots range from Jazz to Hip Hop and Acid House. Their studio sessions in Barcelona and Flavio's openings sets at Capriati's shows gave both of them the chance to get to know each other on a deeper musical level which turned into an unexpected and dynamic EP.

Since composer Sean McBride unveiled his first utterance as Martial Canterel almost 2 decades ago, he has produced a body of work both substantial and alluring within the field of live analogue electronic music. Effortlessly fusing a variety of styles and influences, Martial Canterel is one of the premiere outfits utilizing analogue electronics and modular synthesizers. In particular FM synthesis is employed to produce clustered polyphonies and organic atmospheres - a staple of his signature style.Three years have passed since Martial Canterel's last full length album Gyors, Lassù was released on Dais Records. During this down time, McBride found himself in a state of flux, ebbing back and forth between material displacement and musical aestheticism. His expert pedigree in electronic sound and arrangement bridges the gap created by an undecidability between life at home and abroad - his new album, Lost At Sea, is an attempt for the artist to locate common ground, mutating fable with reality, exteriority and interiority.

The album's introductory track, Giving Up, has all of the hallmarks that Martial Canterel has utilized in the past...melodic chorus, upbeat rhythm and classic sequential dynamism. Where the song diverges is in its core theme of nature: nature's return to a period of restoration after the failures and recklessness of humankind. Although this first glance refamiliarizes one with the tight, upbeat appeal typically found within the genre, Lost at Sea quickly takes a more serious and sobering tone.The slower pace of songs like Scampia and Puszta yearn for McBride's complex love affair with far flung destinations. Re-evaluating the political strife and social unrest in these historical locations, McBride delves deeper into political and geological reference points creating symbolic representations using mechanized percussion, white noise and various sine waves.The conceptual nature of Lost at Sea reaches even deeper depths within the waveforms of Astralize, a track based upon academic Donna Haraway's pre-civilized theories of human neglect after the 'azstralization'.

NYC Veteran and machine wizard Charles Noel aka Archetype reaches deep into his sonic archive to present another incredibly special release on Bright Sounds. Featuring exclusive previously unreleased material ranging from abstract to sublime in the form of a new & unique alias, (CN2). Essential.

Norwegian duo Smerz had a prolific 2017, which saw the Copenhagen-based Henriette and Catharina play the likes of Club 2 Club, MoMA PS1, sell out 'Half life' parties of their own, as well as release five new tracks along with five self-directed videos. Clearly not ones to wait around, Smerz go in to the new year with their 'Have fun' EP on the horizon for release via XL Recordings in March 2018.

With their unique electronic sound blending deconstructed club music, minimalist R&B and experimental pop and techno, Smerz are also prolific DJs who's DJing style takes a similar route. Mixing live vocals over their own music and interlaced with choice cuts aimed squarely at the dancefloor, this duo DJ hard in a live setting and are thrilling to watch as well as listen.

Smerz currently host their own monthly NTS Radio residency, mixing cutting-edge dance music and darker tones, in what is turning in to their trademark style.

Sha' D Underground Trax comes forward with his first private pressed release, hailing from Birmingham with a passion for basslines and vocals, the 'Scalpel' EP aims to deliver just that with a mix of Electro, Freestyle & Boogie cut up, chopped and reworked focusing on the drums and raw basslines while bringing the silky vocals to the fore and removing all the cheese, for those of you who buy records looking for the dub versions or Step Pettibone remixes this is the perfect record for you, built by the dance floor for the dance floor, late night low slung sleaze business.

Turbolenz is a new label from Offenbach run by Philipp Lenz aka Delenz. The first label's release comes from Shayde, the brain child of Delenz and his partner Richard Hötter. Titled - Ama il buco' (Italian natives get the joke here), it features a very diverse spectrum of sounds and moods.

- Ama il buco' a slow grower and steady groover that will get many bodies moving and is some ready-to-get-naked material for sure.
- Kühlschrank in F-Moll' is a rather dreamy, yet positive and escapistic affair. Insert your favourite sunrise after a long night out here.

The flip side starts with a remix by none other than Swayzak, the mighty tech house duo from London. Their take on - Ama il buco' is a crisp and cool peak time affair for a moment of contemplation - if that makes sense. The last track - Ofwebach' is obviously an homage to Delenz' home town Offenbach. Apparently a more uptempo and experimental terrain, - Ofwebach' is something else.

All in all, the result is a rock-solid 4-track debut release on Turbolenz or as they say in Offenbach and Frankfurt: Megastabiles Ding.

French label Meant has had a great run of things in 2012 with standout release from Vosper, Rework and Remain vs Populette getting

love from DJs across the board and extensive press support. Now the imprint looks to an act that have already proved their worth

with previous releases, the excellent Monoblok & PSLKTR. Monoblok & PSLKTR have been working together since 2009 and have

been responsible for releases on Notorious Elektro and Lebensfreud Records as well as of course the Meant label. Their unique take

on the modern sound of electro has given them a loyal fan base and this latest release with its intense feel and stellar remix selection is

certain to attract plenty of attention.



The EP kicks off with title track 'Spooky', a rolling, dark edged affair that melds element of electro and techno into a cut that is intense

from beginning to end. Vocoded vocals, off kilter synth parts and nagging top lines tie the record together and make for a

rollercoaster of a listen!
The original is accompanied by a remix from French production heavyweight Michel Amato AKA The Hacker who turns into a full
bore, old school electro workout that is simply stunning. The flipside of the vinyl gets going with 'Sigminder' feat MTH, a brooding
and squelchy electronic workout that walks a balanced line between dark and light with its swirling FX and close to Distortion
synth riffs, quality stuff. The remix duties on 'Sigminder' are handed to La Dame Noir who deliver a hypnotic reworking that retains
much of the original character whilst very much stamping it's own sound on things. There are 2 digital exclusives, the Vosper
remix of 'Sigminder' which delivers some quality techno and the 'Assault on Meant 15 edit' of Spooky that offers up some slo-mo
soundtrack action.

Pupil Dilations - new EP by Russian producer Kausto (real name Kuzma Palkin) for Roots United records.
5 tracks was produced in 2004 - 2007 in Kausto's hometown Severodvinsk on a vintage PC using Jeskola Buzz Tracker and old VST plugins.
Main source of inspiration - music of that time: Baby Ford, Humanoid, 808 State's Newbuild, as well as Analord series by AFX.
Original EP consisted of 6 pieces with the sixth track coming out as a bonus on digital release.

Kohib, AKA Øivind Sjøvoll from Sortland in the north of Norway, has been an important part of the club-scene in the town of Tromsø (the birthplace of the Northern Disco scene) since 1997, first as a DJ, later as a club organizer. In 2012, he started a string of dancefloor EP's, and the first one, "Solar Day EP", had a fairly limited distribution outside Norway. So, here is finally a "proper" re-release! The "Solar Day EP" is a rousing four-tracker of superb dance tunes. The selection features prime examples of Norwegian electronic music ranging from nu-disco to slinky house music to downtempo electronica. "So Good" leads the pack with a high charged house music rhythm, fancy bursts of percussion and bass line pulsations, and the appealing vocals of Dagny (yes, "that" Dagny, of "Backbeat", "Wearing Nothing" and "Love You Like That" fame) which beckon the listener to "take off all your clothes and dance with me!" This one's begging for immediate deployment on the dance floor. Kohib touches on more Italo-flavored grooviness with "Don't Tease The Bumblebee" which rides and glides like the flying insect in the title should. A bouncy low end and floating synths add to the cosmic romp. "Escape Velocity" lessens the tempo but fizzles with intriguing elements and melodies. Seemingly plucked synth lines and rolling, reverb-ed arpeggios evoke slow-motion bob-sledding across the Norwegian tundra. The set closes with the eponymous "Solar Day", a mildly uplifting piece withdriving drums, buzzy, throbbing synth action, and more delicious Italo-inspired loveliness. This one builds to a stirring climax and closes the EP in grand style.

Moby has released a new single and video for Like a Motherless Child,' from his forthcoming album Everything Was Beautiful, And Nothing Hurt. Featuring LA-based soulstress Raquel Rodriguez, Like a Motherless Child' is a re-work of the well-known spiritual, with its origins in the slavery of the American South. The track describes the void left when one feels separated from a parent, higher power or similar guiding force. Over the years this powerful song has been reinterpreted by the likes of Odetta, Lena Horne, Mahalia Jackson and Van Morrison. The album is a glowing tapestry exploring spirituality, individuality and the brokenness of humanity and finds him returning to his orchestral, soul, trip-hop and gospel roots.

To kick-start 2018, Happy Skull serve up a rare EP from Italy's D'Arcangelo brothers. The sibling duo have been active since the early 1990s, when they played a pivotal role in shaping the sound of Roman Techno alongside contemporaries Lory D, Leo Anibaldi and their Automatic Sound Unlimited production partner, Max Durante. In the two decades that have passed since, Fabrizio and Marco have consistently delivered off-kilter, futurist electronic masterpieces for the likes of Nature, Analogical Force and, most famously, Rephlex.

The four tracks contained on this Happy Skull outing are not re-discovered archive cuts, but rather fresh slabs of mind-altering musical intoxication. The alternating bliss and acid-fired psychedelia of "Saba Tree"and the creeping late night paranoia of "Pull Seven" set the tone. The effervescent fun continues on the flip, where saucer-eyed chords and IDM electronics combine on the rush-inducing "13th Cider". To finish things off Fabrizio and Marco treat us to "Korty", a mesmerizing, deep space slow jam full of backwards electronics and rumbling flashes of sub-bass.

Montreal-based outdoor enthusiast Unknown Mobile offers up his debut on Normals Welcome with this 12" full of gentle hand drums and wavy melodies. Percussion guides the way through levels of airy pads and catchy synth lines on 3 solo cuts. His dancefloor sensibilities then interlock with Vancouver's amiable Big Zen for a spaced-out collaborative track on the B side.

In 2014, Ultramajic's Jimmy Edgar received information about an East Detroit storage unit auction containing vintage recording equipment and historical items of Detroit Techno descent. We were only able to take a 1 minute peak at the dark and dusty unit before the bid, it was clear there were at least 1000 vinyl records and some miscellaneous recording equipment. ULTRAMAJIC came into the possession of over 100 DAT and 1/4" reel tapes. One box contained meticulously dated tapes from 1995 -1998 with sharpie inscription "ASHTAR LAVANDA". We had never heard this name and google search didn't bring back many results. We had uncovered a hidden treasure of Detroit Electro. The Ashtar Lavanda tapes led us on a journey to find out who the producer behind the sound was, and furthermore how did this music never get released After nearly two years, we managed to connect with Ashtar Lavanda to present this music to you. Like others during this time, Ashtar Lavanda was sharing lesser known analog studios that catered to electronic music artists during the late 90s. Studio time was expensive so the tracks had to be recorded same day. With this release and upcoming archives of his music, he will be known as one of the true pioneers in late 90s Detroit Electro alongside artists such as AUX88, Ectomorph, Dopplereffekt, and Drexciya. "I just wanted to see my music on New Dance Show, I wanted to hear it on 97.9FM but I didn't have the hustle to get the music out there" Ashtar Lavanda resides in Detroit to this day and currently works in the medical industry.

After his debut 12inch series Night Time Activities, here a full length album inspired by the horizons and emptyness of his home lands in Friesland. Accompanied by beautiful artwork of fellow Frisian, and one of Hollands most talented painters, Robert Zandvliet (who happens to have his atelier around the corner of the Clone Hq). His amazing painting ''Winter by Jouswier'' (spread among the front and backside of the gatefold sleeve) symbolizes perfectly the rhythm of the open spaces in Friesland. Especialy in the whitened more abstract and cold winter landscape thats almost synonym for Versalife's abstract ice cold electro techno. This record contains 5 years worth of electronic experimentations, the bulk of which were recorded while living in the EU, and mixed down at a studio in Amsterdam. The music was sequenced on a MPC and an inexpensive digital keyboard with reverb and delay.

Since the age of 12 i've been cultivating a deep love of music. Music allows me to communicate in ways that seem otherwise impossible and has connected me with many special people who share that same sentiment.

My intent was to make an album that could be pleasant regardless of the time of day. Something diverse, that could be enjoyed regardless of format. I hope deep listeners are rewarded just as equally as casual ones.

It was a joy layering these frequencies for you.

Beyond being a quality mixture of unusual dance tracks and unique electronica, XYXX is a conceptual body of work whose themes of sex, race, unity and destruction reveal themselves to those listening closely. XYXX is the first collaborative album between Berlin based electronic producer NYMA (Nima Chatrsimab) and Toronto based, Detroit raised vocalist Noisy Vibration. Sitting somewhere in between house, techno and electro, but with honest pop sensibilities, the record is a push-and-pull of ideas, highlighting each artist in distinctive and mesmerizing ways. The Berlin-via-Tehran musician, DJ and sound engineers melting-pot influences and wealth of experience are the perfect vehicle for Noisy Vibrations piercing lyrical style. He lets her do the talking, while delivering a powerful message of his own through more subconscious means. From the opening refrain the dialogue begins, angelic tones embrace you with open arms. Noisys lyrics speak to NYMAs colourful beats and masterful sound design, connecting to the moment and full of unexpected turns. XYXX is an album that is both spontaneous and carefully considered. A lot of bands are trying what The Exorcist are doing, to make timeless, mind bending, dance music but they often fail in reaching all the way. The Exorcist is the band that seem to exist in a dimension, much like ours but that lacks time as we know it; time is stretchable backwards and forward, and being in this dimension allows you to travel while, still staying in one place. Call it time travel if you will or moving outside of time rather. The Exorcist does this. Also they reach our dimension.

The members who also can be found in Uran, Tentakel, and Sork among others, formed The Exorcist in 2012 and started by playing illegal techno clubs for the true undercurrent citizens of Gothenburg, Sweden. The reputation of this dangerous psychedelic band, who plays funk the way funk should be played soon reached Stockholm where they got a cult following just by word of mouth. Over the past four years their following has grown exponentially!

The recording of 'II' was a trip into the abyss and back, with a lot of time and money spent, outrage from the members and record label executives biting their nails down to the bone. But that is how The Exorcist works - tension is a vital part of this bands nature, hence it's sound. The tracks' aggressive approach and the feeling of being possessed by something evil lurking inside of you mirrors the process of making this album. But listening to the album back to back and hearing how the songs intertwine, lets the true face of The Exorcist shine brightly over you.
