The next release on leading French label Zone is a very special one indeed from long time friend of the label and pioneering electro figure Kittin, the artist formerly known as Miss Kittin. Her standout original comes with an equally impressive remix from Truncate.

A long time stalwart of the electroclash scene who has put out many seminal singles, Kittin has famously collaborated with The Hacker and Felix Da Housecat and mixed up new wave and techno in arresting new ways for decades. Her albums have always been hailed as hugely accomplished and the prolific and innovative Frenchwoman has worked with numerous top labels. Now back once more in 2018 with her first solo single in some time, she is in fine form.

Her offering here, 'EACID', is a timeless piece of deep techno with brain melting bass and twinkling yet menacing keys. Her own vocals are twisted and chopped up into wordless forms that add layers of intrigue and the whole thing is brilliantly broody. A breakdown at the mid point allows you to catch your breath as her voice refracts round the airwaves, then the icy hi hats and rumbling drums and bass land again with subtly uplifting, light emitting chords rising in the background. All in all, this is one of Kittin's most special and evocative tracks of recent times.

Remixing is Truncate, the deep techno artist who runs a label of the same name and has released his killer wares on 50Weapons. His version is more wild and flailing, with the keys becoming more manic, the drums darting about all over the place and the voice becoming more paranoid and trippy.

Nagamatzu were the British duo of Andrew Lagowski (SETI, Legion, Terror Against Terror) on synths, guitar, and programming and Stephen Jarvis (Pure Motorised Instinct, Terraform) on synths and bass. Formed in 1982 after messing around with old tape machines and drum boxes, making numerous contributions to international compilations and erratically releasing their own cassettes. Their name comes from a character in JG Ballardâs âAtrocity Exhibition❠and their music reflects his influence. Nagamatzu self-released their debut cassette âShatter Days❠in 1983 after messing around with old tape machines, drum boxes and effects. âAbove This Noise❠is a compilation of 9 songs recorded in the period between the release of âSacred Islands of the Madâ in 1986 and âIgniting the Corpseâ in 1991. It gathers tracks which surfaced on some of the international compilation cassette releases that the band were invited to contribute to in the 1980s as well as some previously unreleased songs. The bandâs working method was for Andrew to first record a backing track, usually rhythm, sequence, samples. Then both members would layer more electronics, samples, guitar and bass over the top, recording the whole piece in one take. These instrumentals combine stuttering bass, guitar bursts and funeral keyboards draped over a dragging drum machine beat, calling to mind Clock DVA, early New Order or Cocteau Twins. Their sound is full of complex rhythm patterns and dark electronics.

This record is a kind of non Schlager-music based piece of electronic ravey shit!

Superstar DJ Grace has been busy - sampling TS Madison's legendary call out of Caitlyn Jenner after the Trump inauguration last year. TS's cutting disses mixed with the warm statements of tran unity caught Grace's ear, resulting in a ten and half minute acid lick complete with deep chords to bring the mood and stay true to her original deep house vibe. This first release on Grace's label TruVanity ft. remixes by Brooks and Grace herself. Check it!

Long time collaborators Jason Letkiewicz and Nicholas Dawson colab on the A side with their improvised Confused House jam style. There off-the-cuff technique is subtle in its arrangement. STE-018 starts slow and expands with sublime patterns of melody and subtle drum fills. On the flip side, Bookworms' STE-101 changes the mood. Coming from a time of extensive all night DJing everywhere from private affairs in upstate New York's mountains to Panorama Bar, these tracks combine a rawness reminiscent of Theo Parrish and long form cosmic droning of eternal music. Copenhagen's Terry Tester (Brownswood / BBE) merges his love for Midwest house and cosmic funk butter on four-tracker 'Space Million' for Creak Inc., journeying through dream state deep house, gritty MPC workouts and low-end boogie territory for an undeniably original take on four-to-the-floor rhythms.

Within Terry Tester's two-decade long career as a turntablist and beatmaker his eminent take on house, hiphop and soul has been commissioned by Gilles Petterson for his 'Bubblers' compilation series on Brownswood Recordings, Jahi featuring american neo-soul singer Dwele, and Marc Mac (4Hero, Visioneers, Nu Era) on BBE remixing alongside DJ Jazzy Jeff, as well as releasing two full-length solo albums 'Horses and Diamonds' and 'Short Suite'.

The first fully autonomous artificial intelligence with the ability to learn and improve itself is created by the Sega corporation. After two cassette releases for the likes of Tokyo's Solitude Solutions and Barcelona's Angoisse, Motion Ward is happy to present the debut of Kouhei Fukuzumi's Ultrafog project on the vinyl format. "How Those Fires Burned That Are No Longer" weaves through sliding metal timbres, textured air abstractions and wistful mallet sequences. This record, like all of Kouhei's work, is a take on sound as a representation of memory. Light and translucent, each song aims for a temporal snapshot that will inevitably fade into the well of thoughts and experience.

Gifted Culture collective is ready to unleash the second jam session of the announced trilogy. GMI Jam Venice comes from the filth and the mug of the abandoned ex-industrial area in the outskirts of Venice. There, Autre and Two Thou invade Hawaiian Chips' top-notch studio, where all together ride 70's synthesizer rarities and try to domesticate the monstrous Yamaha CS 80. This jam, inspired by the post-industrial Venetian scenario, dives between the dreams of archetypal electronic music and reminiscences of psychedelic progressive bands, giving birth to two long journeys ready to gently carry the dance floor into the outer space.

Les Editions Japonais, is a new label to showcase Japanese artists new and old, the first release is by Tokyo based band Kufuki.

Kufuki, was formed in 2010 by Ryuichiro Konno (electronics), Motomasa Saito (electronics), Tosimasa Matsumoto (vocals), and Yudai Nobunaga Kogawa (vocals,VJ, electronics), hailing from various musical genres, ranging from techno, rock, blues and hip-hop. Tired of formulaic club music, they set out to create their own electronic ethnic music, firstly taking influences from places they had travelled, but more recently concentrating on electrifying minyo, or traditional Japanese folk music.

MInyo has an ageless tradition in Japanese culture, mainly work songs - for example, sung by field workers and fishermen - and regional tributes. Passed down over the centuries by performance at seasonal festivals, they are often accompanied by dance. These traditions prevail, and many songs are familiar to a large proportion of Japan's population, young and old.

Kufuki have already released two albums, the self-released "Fukamidori" (2010), and "Kufuki', on the Wonderyou label (2012). Favourable reviews appeared in Japanese, American and European web magazines: Bad Alchemy Magazin (Germany), Loop (Chile), Sound & Recording Magazine (Japan), Hemisferia (Colombia) and more. They toured South Korea in 2013 and Europe in 2014, taking in Germany, Portugal and the UK. This year they are planning another European tour.

The band's singular sound is a rollicking rendition of minyo, using the driving work-song rhythms as a background to their call and response vocals, and phalanx of decaying synthesizers, all in a pentatonic key.

Torobayashi is a 20th century folk song, originally released in the early 60s by Masao Suzuki, as part of the original wave of popularised minyo. Akusejima is much older, named after the tiny remote volcanic island in Kagoshima. And, tucked away on the B side is a cheeky dancehall-tinged re-work of Torobayashi by Japan Blues.

The 4 track 12' comes in black disco bag, with label artwork by Motomasa Saito, and with a washi (Japanese paper) New Minyo sticker.

Qritikal Records mastermind Kosmetiq drops a jazz tinged, St Germain inspired three-tracker for the brand new PHONO001.

'I'm Coming Home' is a soulful house gem combining Heather Hoyle's sumptuous jazz flute with the gritty blues vocals and guitar of award-winning Papa George. Adding layers of synth lines behind a bumping deep house rhythm, Kosmetiq produces an emotive midtempo number with a touch of the Gregory Porter to it.

For 'Horizontal' Kosmetiq takes the pace down laying out a dusty, downtempo, Rhodes laden beat that provides the perfect basis for Donovan Blackwood's beautifully introspective recital of Heather's spoken word poetry. Heather turns her talents to the sax this time round, passionately performing a series of irresistible melodies that complement the hazy leanings of the track all too well.

Rounding off the EP, 'Lazy' keeps things laidback with a neo soul jam that was originally written by Heather but is made all the more expressive through Shea Soul's incredible voice and Heather's ever reliable jazz flute licks. Slick scratch segments, glistening keys and a full-bodied bassline make this an irresistible groover for any occasion.

New Zealander Julien Dyne is a multi-instrumentalist with
a long and impressive history of collaborative, live and
solo musicianship. Best known for his solo work as BBE and
having worked with the likes of Theo Parrish, Steve Spacek,
Andreya Triana and Lord Echo - one of Soundway's most
successful artists. Dyne has also accumulated a number of
accolades over the course of a 10-year career including but
not exclusive to being hotly tipped by both Moodymann and
Gilles Peterson.
Dyne's new project for 2018 is an 11-track LP on Miles
Cleret's extolled Soundway label. Demonstrating a shift in
gears and movement toward a more uptempo, Afro inspired
sound 'Teal' melds instrumental flair with astute production
and a persistent grain of impassioned, effortless soul. The
album features fellow New Zealanders Lord Echo and Mara
TK, long term band-mate Ladi6, Fat Freddy's Drop trumpeter
Toby Laing, plus Australian vocalist Tim Guy and jazz
luminaries Jonathan Crayford and John Bell. This is a body
of work for the listener and the dancer alike with a mood as
fitting for headphones as it is for the floor, with the double
vinyl album cut loud at 45 RPM.

Remixers getting remixed! The first batch of interpretations for TCK's 2016 debut album 'Adoldesscent' arrives with a trio of artists above the ordinary. ArchiPOP is a series of curated selections from the Beatservice Records archives. Songs that have been on single/EP releases or standout tracks on albums are put together in a new and well-selected environment by label boss Vidar Hanssen. The artwork following these compilations are mirrored and manipulated architectural images from Tromsø, Norway, the hometown of Beatservice Records. The pictures are taken by German born, now Tromsø resident architect and photographer Kristina Schröder. Many of her pictures show familiar architecture in new and unusual perspectives.

"Lifting the Veil" speeds up snappy drum programming and a thundering bassline to breakneck speeds, pitting them against sombre chords and strings, perfectly capturing the reflective headspace of a night drive through babylon. 'Cosmic Vibrations' harks back to the development of fully computerised rhythms emanating from Jammy and Tubby's Waterhouse studios, by way of Erskineville. In the same vein, 'Bedtime for Boo Boo' sees Andy joined on the boards by Sydney dub technician Sheriff Lindo, creating a dynamic digi-dub number that is sure to come alive on any soundsystem worth its weight - a heady showcase for two of Australia's finest reggae talents.

Flip the disc to find 'Move It', the most concentrated dose of the jungle vibes that permeate the EP. Rantzen channels the headrush sonics, breakneck drums and euphoria of D'n'B's heydey, nailing the red-eyed early AM atmosphere of a Sydney warehouse ca. 95 - and it's just as likely to cap off the night of many a secret inner west location to come. 'Magic Lantern' marries a dreamy synthesizer melody with a wicked, subby bassline. If there was a dancehall scene in 'Ferngully', this would've been the soundtrack, with enough low end to really rattle the treetops. On closer 'Dub Generator', a slightly-creepy mechanized voice urges you to 'leave your worries at the door... come and join your friends upon the floor' - an introduction to the dancefloor or an induction into some sinister cult Whatever the message, the dub chords and massive bassline lull you into the headspace where these words take hold."

A much in demand reissue of two of NYC born-and-bred, Pal Joey's, classics from his joint label with Reynald Deschamps, Loop D'Loop.

First up, 'Party Time' which harnesses that 90's NYC underground house energy with a rawness that was to emanate through many of Pal Joey's subsequent productions. Scalpel in hand, Joey expertly crafted this sample laden groover, his trademark stuttering, off-kilter rhythms, loops and fills keeping listeners on their toes throughout, never knowing how the next phrase might unfold.

On the flip, 'Raw Love' utilises a seminal disco classic as its main sample source, looping it in a way only Pal Joey's mind knows how, adding percussive hits and extra effects to create an innovative, animated and exhilaratingly rhythmic dancefloor bomb.

Both tracks are perfect examples of the simplicity and seeming effortlessness that Pal Joey maintains in his productions, adhering to the mantra that 'less is more' but with a resonating rawness that touches deep down in the soul.

The elusive Crooked Man returns to DFA with 'Crooked House'
LP, a maximalist take on electronic and house music that picks
up where 2016's self-titled album left off. Teaming up again
with Michael Somerset Ward (Clock DVA) and David Lewin
(Bleep & Booster) in the studio, Richard Barratt crafts a
comprehensive journey of hi-fi house belters with more sinister
electro-pop mixed in for good measure.
The album is influenced by two historic epicentres of electronic
music: Sheffield UK, where Richard has had an illustrious
career in a mix of legendary groups like Funky Worm, Sweet
Exorcist and The All Seeing I; and the NYC Loft-era disco
sound, where extended grooves were layered with peaktime
choruses.
Richard's diverse collaborations and intensely prolific
discography have now led him to records as lush and
sophisticated as 'Crooked House'. Considering the rarity of a
live Crooked Man performance or DJ set, it's a testament to his
hyper-creativity that these tracks are able to reach new heights
in a club setting. With support from disco historian Bill Brewster
and NTS resident Ross Allen, it's clear that 'Crooked House'

Diese begeistern durch empfindsam gesponnene Melodien und faszinierende Texturen, wie sie auch bei Echospace, Kompakt und Styrax geschätzt werden. "Drowning In Daylight" ist Weys Debüt für das Label Apollo. Das Album erscheint als Doppel-LP und enthält vier epische, je circa 20-minütige Tracks. Up next on the AdMaiora catalogue is an exclusive Italian project. Two young djs, producers and long time friends Nicola Calbi and Luky got together for 'Miami Force 89'. With releases on some of the most prestigious tech-house imprints, including 'Wow! Recordings' and 'Sanity', the fellow Italians unleash another powerful EP.

First entitled main 'Miami Force 89' is clearly immersed in the atmospheres of the late 80's. Unceasing female vocal loop meets tasty groove, hi-octave vibrato lead and a mighty kick and bass combination, making you feel like you're driving a supercar in the sunny East Coast.

The second original called 'Machine Gun' is a total gunpowder track, with a super-fat kick drum, aggressive vocal samples and rampant synths. Nicola and Luky go harder than ever, delivering a great tech-house stomper.

On the remix duty we warmly welcome Berlin hero Philip Bader and Italian duo Alfa Romero. The guys from Alfa Romero have already worked with Italian veteran Davide Squillace, and got remixed by Robert Dietz, Betoko and Snilloc. In their version of 'Miami Force 89' they go deeper and deeper, concentrating their idea in a long break which is characterized by touching brass, melodic pads and cinematic atmospheres.

Philip Bader closes the thing with the final track of the B side. He's been around for the last 10 years with appearances in almost the biggest labels such as 'Suara', 'This and That', 'Snatch!' and 'Moon Harbour' to name a few. His remix for 'Machine Gun' is pure killer material as he definitely adds fire on this one: since the beginning of the track, the heavy kicks and the harsh usage of the vocal parts turn the original into a military gear assault weapon. The gloomy groove and the grumpy synth-line do the rest, revealing once again the real raw nature of the track.

It is a special feeling to release this record on Lamour Records. Its founder Viktor Zeidner has time and time again invited me to play on his experimental concert arrangements through the years. And as a solo artist I have always focused on trying things out rather than writing songs. On my album cover is a framed poster of my father's band he had in the sixties called Jahn Claesons. This album is dedicated entirely to him. He was my biggest supporter, and is still my biggest inspiration.

The latest capsule collection from pensive Vancouver visionist Zefan Sramek aka Precipitation presents a more binary take on overcast house and half-light ambience, split between a rhythmic 'earth' side and a smeared cirrus 'sky' side. Tracked live to tape and padded with Pacific Northwest field recordings of rainy forests and wet meadows, the pieces soar, sink, and spiral like small birds blown by the wind, isolated and adrift. Past cuts for Ville Nouvelle (in the duo Aquatic Language) and Jungle Gym have shown Sramek's versatility with vignette melody and soft-focus atmospherics but Earth / Sky distills them even further, into a muted, melancholic expanse of elemental conditions and emotive hypnosis. Bionda E Lupo are like little you'll have heard before, a boy/girl band like no other. Synth wave is fed a line of modern alienation, delusory disco to a disdainful drum beat, house emptied and ridiculed. Rhythms are stark, melodies are as mechanical as the lyrics. "Zug Der Vogel" is sparse, vocals intertwine in an empty embrace whilst bars sparkle. "Twoi Glasza" is more playful. Bright words shimmer against sweeping strings. The past is parodied across the EP but nowhere more so than in "Die Kinder Aus Dem Park." A former classic dug out before being peppered by machine gun percussion. The stilted rhyme of "Eckstein" closes, a ballad of bittersweet images and lost hopes.

Nico Nightingale, aka Neud Photo, is no stranger to collaborations. The New Yorker's latest sees him teaming up with Cristiano F. Grimaldi to form INTRZN, a partnership meshing a free style approach to melodies with cold rhythms. Their "Zone" quartet is a twilight of fluctuating moods. Percussion is bare, allowing bright bars to shine and darker moments to fester. Music which in one breath is elated and uplifting and, the next, dejected and downtrodden.

Mike Simonetti ist ein US-amerikanischer DJ, Elektronik-Produzent und Labelchef. Er gründete die Imprints New Jersey Records, Troubleman Unlimited, The Vanity Label, 2MR und 2006, zusammen mit Johnny Jewel in Los Angeles, Italians Do It Better. 2013 verließ er Italians Do It Better. In den sieben Jahren produzierte Simonetti eine Menge Musik für das Label. Dieses fand Verwendung in Spielfilmen und Werbeclips sowie bei Modenschauen. Einige der Aufnahmen erschienen auch als Tonträger. "Solipsism" vereint zehn DowntempoHouse-Highlights aus jener Zeit. Sie sind durch eine atmosphärisch-achtzigerjahrehafte, ins Dunkle tendierende Grundhaltung motiviert und bewegen sich passend dazu - mit Ausnahme eines Stücks - immer unter der 118-BPM-Marke. Kennzeichnend für die Titel sind darüber hinaus Gitarrenriffs, die Simonetti unaufdringlich, aber dennoch ziemlich heavy in seine Soundtrack-Dancefloor-Hybride einband. Approaching Complexity is the fourth album from Netherlands based ambient-beats duo Tangent.
This follow-up to 2016s Collapsing Horizons finds the duo expanding their sound by adding reoccurring expressive piano themes to their composite of skyward ambience and unfolding beat formations.
The album is said by the duo of Ralph van Reijendam and Robbert Kok to be 'about the transition from basic forms to complex struc- tures which are often seen in nature during the transi- tioning of seasons.' They add that 'Life awakens from hibernation and evolves from being introverted to becoming extroverted, even building upon the remnants of previous cycles and evolving into new realms.'
Approaching Complexity for Tangent is all about their evolution as progression has been a clearly defined constant in their output as a whole. Each work effort- lessly transitioning unto its predecessor.

Optimo Trax reaches no. 33, the final number in the series (although reserving the right to return at some point). The last release is a 3 track EP from Montreal's Solitary Dancer that ends the label's run with a distinctly non 4/4 feel. We asked Solitary Dancer to say a few words about this EP to which they responded with - "Recordings inspired by archetypes existing within a hypothetical matriarchal society and how that may pertain to our present day reality.'

Gliptolito sees Frigio return to its beginnings whilst making a bold statement of future intent. This time in collaboration with Seti Recordings for a split release by the heads of both labels. Juanpablo shares the platter with ArD2, the team of Ekis and Penélope Martín (of NSRB-11 and Zwischenwelt.) Label boss Juanpablo opens with his ever evolving sound. Rasping beats and subtle key changes are warmed by basslines in the cerebral 'Ica'. 'There is a Silence' comes from a similarly esoteric place, gentle chords shimmering against glitchy undercurrents and clean drums. ArD2 follow up their 2010 appearance on Frigio with two tracks of complex machine funk. Sidelined is their trademark electro sound as the pair lean towards electronica and broken percussion for 'Winter.' Colder tones arrive with 'Utopia', sublime string work warming them through to bring 'Gliptolito' to a close.

Brite noch weiter in die groovige Electronica-Welt ein. Dass dabei nach wie vor akustische Instrumente eine
dominante Rolle spielen, versteht sich für das Werk eines Gitarristen von selbst. Ihm zur Seite standen Robin
Mullarkey (ESKA, Roisin Murphy) am Bass, Sean Foran (Trichotomy) am E-Piano und Richard Spaven
(Flying Lotus, José James) am Schlagzeug und Synthesizer sowie an elektronischen Klangerzeugern.
Gastauftritte haben die Violinistin Emma Sweeney und JP Cooper, Sharlene Hector (Basement Jaxx),
Fridolijn van Poll und Sophie Barker (beide Zero 7) am Mikrofon. Die Verwendung von Gesang ist ein Novum
für McCallums Solo-Werk. Das im Übrigen gar nicht mehr so solo ist, da Richard Spaven, den McCallum aus
seiner Zeit beim Cinematic Orchestra kennt, "City" mitgeschrieben und koproduziert hat.

Golden Teacher was born in early 2013, when members Ollie, Laurie, Rich, Sam, Cassie, and Charlie gathered at Glasgow's legendary Green Door Studios and packed seven cassettes with raw, rhythmic improvisations. These instrumental sessions, dubbed Green Door Disco Band (or G.D.D.B.), were a covert prologue for the band's infectious and hallucinatory dance music. Originally issued via cassette on Golden Teacher's own Akashic Records, this vinyl edition compiles G.D.D.B.'s most commanding moments for an explosive re-introduction to the band's emergent boogie.

Golden Teacher's method was simple: Pack the studio with instruments, position a tape recorder on the floor, and then just go for it. Whenever the vibe was right someone would hit record. The members swapped instruments at random, mutating across primal electro-disco and swirling, psychedelic house. Jerry-rigged rhythms breach the delectable fry of tape hiss. Melodies dissolve into throbbing ambience as percussion lurches in and out of focus. The band achieves a contagious blend of hazy atmospherics and crystalline frequencies that suffuses each groove with club-level delirium.

G.D.D.B. captures Golden Teacher's kinetic genesis, transposing the dynamics of their freest and most elastic live performances onto plastic. As an exclusive bonus, the album is offered with or without a companion cassette, compiled by the band from two live performances on February 2nd, 2013. Side A is Golden Teacher in classic dance floor motion; Side B documents a baffling reinterpretation of Ludwig van Beethoven via abstract electronics. The tape is only available from House Rules.

Tapes recorded between 1981 and 1983. Added effects and mixing on four tracks was done between 1983 and 1986. From the Artist statement: "Ever since I was a child, I have been fascinated by the far off, faded, almost muffled sounds, melodies and harmonies coming into my room from outside sources. I would record these sounds, with a recording device and microphones of various quality levels, and then modify them with various effects over many years - this was my secret passion. I called this kind of work, with those old tapes, "the sound from next door, or, the neighbour's sounds". Over the years, the instruments I use to complete the sound layers haven't changed - I continue to use various defective Casio keyboards, a semi acoustic Hofner bass, a myriad of effects and cables, and an old analogical, multi-effect Ekomultitone from the 1960s."

Two Berlin underdogs and a Detroit ravemaster. A driving force in the very early Frankfurt electronics since the late 80s, to hardcore acid in Brooklyn in the early 90s, producing legends as Carlos Peron among many others along his way, ADSX aka Andre Fischer might sound new to many but has been an active part of the underground electronic movement for the last 30 years. Benji DF aka Hanoben is no newbie to the scene either and might have soundtracked your night if you were to be found at clubs like Tresor or Snax in the late 90s. Together they recorded an ode to aural sex, its acid counterpart, and a genius sketch of a club banger. When label honcho Capablanca heard the latter had little doubts about commissioning an extended mix to Motor City's Special Forces Gen. Sharif Laffrey aka thee Activator, who needs little introduction to the discerning raver ears as the man behind instant acid classics Turn It Up and Always, among others. After countless studio days and nights and endless versions (we stopped counting at 56th) Sharif delivers what is possibly his best work to date, an unstoppable 12 minute dancefloor annihilator. To wrap such special release we asked legend Alan Oldham aka UR's Minister of Information aka DJ T-1000, (also responsible for label designs for Transmat, Djax, Submerge, Pure Sonik and a long etcetera) to create one of his classic artworks.
