Once upon a time ... close to a lake in a small village named Lenz. Pleasant silence filled the air in this idyllic lake land of Mecklemburg. A gentle breeze blew and the tree branches quivered to its pulse. Listening closely, one could hear the soft purl of the lake. A distant spring storm raged through the night, supplanted by the majestic rise of a red fire ball rapidly approaching the illuminated firmament. Breaking through the last shades of the night, gentle birdsongs pierced the solitude of the almost virgin nature. Emerging from a humble and picturesque cottage, soft electric melodies are carried through the cosmos to invigorate and titillate our senses. Four years after their successful debut album 'Dark Orbit' (May 2009), the DJ-Duo Heinrichs & Hirtenfellner prepare to release their second album called 'Lenz'. In defiance of breakup rumors, their latest stroke of genius promises to arouse spring feelings for all electronic music fans. In the summer of 2011, acclaimed DJs, Alfred Heinrichs and Sascha Braemer, had already conceived the initial ideas of their new album. In the meantime, the pair kept busy working on solo projects and remixes for various DJs and labels as well as keeping active international careers. Last spring, in order to increase and intensify the creative process of the project, the two Berliners expelled themselves from the noisy and restless metropolis to an isolated timberland bungalow. Leaving all forms of communication behind, they were delivered pure inspiration from the soft sounds and impressive backdrop of Mother Nature herself.

We've had our eyes on Jaures since they formed in 2014. Jaures's drums are neither techno nor electro but something of their very own, making the duo one of the most interesting young production units in Germany right now.

Samuel Rohrer, the multi-faceted, forward-thinking percussio- nist and producer behind the arjunamusic label, the AMBIQ trio and a wealth of other musical projects, has set out on his own with a new full-length solo album Range of Regularity as a double EP set with a deceptive title if ever there was one: the sonic experience of this record is, in fact, a highly irregular one (and a highly welcome one at that). Constructed almost entirely upon electronically-treated recordings of acoustic in- strumentation, with a bare minimum of synthesizer voicing, RoR vibrates with a compelling organicism - as if old-growth Black Forest trees had conspired together to make an album of ultra-modern improvisational music. Indeed, the record feels limned with contributions from some 'other' intelligence, despite being a clear extension of the fluid, percussion-driven musical technique that Rohrer has exhibited in previous years.
Opening with the track 'Microcosmism,' the sound-forest feeling immediately takes effect, and the listener can either enjoying navigating a path through this verdant total environ- ment or just being lost in it. Sonic organisms fly in and out of your headspace here at different speeds and bring with them all kinds of different dispositions, though Rohrer's reliable propulsive rhythms are always there to help direct traffic. 'Le- nina' does not abandon this unique aesthetic, but reprises the story with a different vocabulary (in this case, deep synth-bass signals, piano runs and all sorts of hyper-real ventilations). 'Nimbus,' not at all an ambient cloudscape like the title might suggest, temporarily dials back the feeling of modular assem- blage that powers the previous two pieces, and allows Rohrer's drumkit to come to the fore, working away at a determined snare-driven beat that brings a variety of treated sound ephe- mera out their hiding places.
After the gentle - but never too precious - interlude of 'Sun- clue,' 'War On Consciousness' emerges as the album's infec- tious tour de force. As the title implies, the feeling here is of using sound to fend off some sort of invasive energy, and the epic battle that ensues features a full concert's worth of tim- bral variations and audio events. Incisive rhythmic patterns slice away like finely honed blades at an insistent mechanical chattering, while cautiously walking acoustic bass adds an ex- tra layer of defense. 'Uncertain Grace' closes the set out with an extra layer of defense. 'Uncertain Grace' closes the set out with a busy multi-layered arpeggiation punctuated with bass drum hits, from which a melodic narrative gradually emerges like a distinctly human face rising from a field of visual noise. As the drums again join in, the final exclamation point is added to a very personal artistic statement. Though fans of adven- turous music will find similarities to other progenitors of rhythmic intelligence (classic Can, for example), Range of Regu- larity stands perfectly well on its own.
Short CV: Samuel Rohrer, born in Switzerland and based in Berlin since 2003, is one of the influential improvisational musicians ofhis generation and has toured worldwide, performing at major festivals, like Punkt Festivalen, CTM Berlin, Nuits Sonores Lyon, NorthSea, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Portland Jazzfestival, MoldeJazz, Vancouver Int.Festival, Mon- treal International Jazz Festival, Sunwaves Festival Romania, amo...
He worked with numerous artists including Sidsel Endresen, Ricardo Villalobos, Skuli Sverrisson, Nils Petter Molvaer, Lau- rie Anderson, Nan Goldin, Eivind Aarset, Max Loderbauer, Mark Feldman or Jan Bang. He recorded several albums for ECM and built his own label arjunamusic records in 2012, on which he implements his idea of overlapping improvised acoustic music with electronic club music.
Besides working on many new projects including AMBIQ (with Max Loderbauer and Claudio Puntin) or with Nils Petter Molvaer, he collaborates with Soundwalk Collective, Nan Goldin, Harmen Fraanje, Daniel Erdmann & Vincent Cour- tois, Max Loderbauer & Luigi Rangino, Tyler Friedman, and many others, and is focussing on his solo work in the field of acoustic/electronic music.

A three track EP opens with an intelligent minimalistic track 'Somewhere out there' - this catchy bassline, wicked and smart game of beats will definitely open your mind and take you on a ride. 'Eleos' is uncompromising dancefloor bomb with strong acid line, accompanied with warm synth theme which will take you back in time. To conclude this amazing EP, here is 'Hidden Projections' track, another 'acidish' gem that proves how talented Vid Vai is.

With its third release, Atipic Records introduces us to Andu Simion's musical universe. A house journey bearing different twists, presented in 4 episodes chained at an almost imperceptible layer. Take the opening track as a strong example: it gives you that dreamy feeling of rediscovering the undiluted beauty of old skool deep house. The same kaleidoscopic groove floods your senses in A2, lighthearted, echoing deep into our souls.Flip the record for the bassline to come into play, deeply textured into the melodic waves of B1. Since ancient times we knew that everything was about vibration, velocity and frequency. Anubis Ep wants to bring back metaphorically that solid foundation of reality through music and feeling. The first track, Anubis, like the Egyptian god, provides a safe passage to another world through its dub chords, dark techno berlinish synths and hidden messages in the voices scatters on the whole track. The remix, made by Canadian based artist Hooll, has a more minimal and deep dub approach completing perfectly the other side of the journey. Finally the last track, Thoth, represents a mediating energy between dark and light with raw low ends and groovy percussions creating a wormhole like journey for the listener.

Live recorded analogue natural sounds and horns combined with tight beats and grooves: that is the very unique approach from cosmo rec. This time it is on Argenis Brito and Pier Bucci to blend the styles..excellent production! 2015 has been the year that Moon Harbour turned 15, but rather than focus on the past, Matthias Tanzmann's label has continued to serve up fresh future sounds. The next artist to do so is Lewis Boardman, a long time UK talent who has released on a clutch of fine labels in his
time.

Desolat, Play It Down and Souvenir have all served up the club ready sounds of Boardman in recent years. He himself is also closely associated with Circus having been a resident at the legendary Liverpool party for years, and all that DJ booth expense clearly pays off when in the studio because his tracks come complete with all the key ingredients to get people moving.

Boardman's debut Moon Harbour EP opens with 'Stay Together,' a slow burning, deeply delicious track with a hooky vocal riff and grinding bass that really work you into a lather. It is expertly balanced and reserved at the same time as having a big, long lasting impact. The excellent 'Push It Right' is then a grainy, static laced deep house swinger with kicks that rock back and forth and lull you into a subtle, supple groove.

Next great cut 'Aww Shit' then ups the ante with a rickety, train track like percussive line and vast, firmly rooted rubber kicks that really resonate with each hit. Another deft vocal adds a fine hook to the track as you wiggle your behind from start to finish. Last but by no means least, the dreamy 'As Yet' then gets swampy and minimal,with gurgling bass and glistening, knife edge percussion making for a wavy groove that is serenely tripped out and expertly seductive. Again a well treated vocal is the icing on the irresistible cake.

This is a classy and cultured EP that is one of Moon Harbour's deepest and headiest for a while.

Four hypercurrent and gently melancholic cuts on this new vinyl only label linked to one of Lisbon's best clubs for house and techno, Ministerium. Side A is all about the electro: Markus Sommer's trademark Stinson-indebted grooves strike an optimistic note on EMPYRIUM, while happy-sad chords soften the sharper edges of Klein/Melchner's breaksy PLATA O PLOMO. House is the feeling on side B: Phil Evans' SYSCRESH sticks a tech house groove and bumping bassline under the mournful bleeps of a heartbroken computer, before Ministerium regular Jorge Caiado takes us into a languorous, transitory mood on BETWEEN FLIGHTS, its dreamy cliffside opening taking a deep plunge into a reverb-laden acid finale.

Pantha Du Prince (Hendrik Weber) has been working with longtime engineer Kassian to create an ambient version of last year's triumphant studio return, 'The Triad'. This reworking showcases the otherworldly and moody delicacy that makes Weber's music so absorbing and affecting, with the beats and most vocals removed, his dreamy sonic details come to the fore.
LP is accompanied by a digital download that also includes bonus extra versions of some of the album tracks.

Persian Ahu Karimi is a Berlin resident. He began his musical exploits in a punk band in Tehran but time and space and inertia have distilled his music into a rare spiritual essence, with a delicacy and evanescence like memory. The five tracks here have a gauze like quality. The music is like ether. The opening track Shoone Beh Sar transfixes. It is totally captivating. This is ambient music of the highest quality. Next up is Longing. It is the logical next step after Shoone Beh Sar. It has a shuffling groove so does not initially appear to be an ambient track. But the ambience is in the detail, which slowly unfolds over 9 minutes. Roya begins beat-less, and very languid. A glitchy beat begins early, but the initial languidity is never dispelled; only intensified. Nebel In Sancsouri is next. Even though it has a distinctly jacking groove, the delicate intensity that has already been established through the ep defines the track. At this point, a vibe of seduction by sunlight is complete; then broken by an arresting darkness. Final track Simorgh is crackling electronics and hum. Restless and inexorable. A surprise, a wake up, leaving the listener unsettled after the comfort and narcotic beauty of the preceding tracks. Probably just as well. After listening to the preceding tracks, it seems possible that the listener could remain spellbound.

After a split single with Muslimgauze and a single of their own on Optimo Trax, we are delighted to present the first Optimo Trax album release by Italy's Underspreche. The album is split across two four- track EPs, released two weeks apart (and also as a complete digital album).
We try to avoid over-hyping our releases, but this one is really fully deserving of the hyperbole I am about to bestow on it. Underspreche first sent me some music a few years ago and seeing them grow and develop has been nothing short of astonishing. I think this is some of the most nuanced and advanced music that Optimo Trax has ever released. There are several dancefloor destroyers here but also music for more developed/leading-edge floors too, as well as some music simply designed to make one's mind melt.

It is very rare that I listen to 4/4 music at home, but this album has been a constant on my hi-fi since it was sent to me.
Super-advanced, organic sampling, inspired vocalisations, acute psychedelic modular sequences, forward- thinking drum programming, this is exactly what I hoped Optimo Trax would be about when I started the label.

After successful two releases Hoxton Records is back with yet another VA compilation featuring equally talented three producers from Romania. Zefzeed has been behind the decks for over 10 years and producing since 2009. In 2013 he was signed with BodyParts Records and started working with vinyl only record labels. Cosmjn & Lizz duo work speaks for itself as it has already amassed the support from Petre Inspirescu, Barac, New Zau and Sepp. These guys are extremely talented and produce the tracks with inspiring harmonies. Bucharest based producer Direkt is a hidden gem. Being the youngest producer on Hoxton Records label, he is definitely the one to watch. This vinyl only release is showcasing the artist that are creating the music worth collecting.

Ideepsum, Sublee's debut album, finds its home under the Metereze name. The 6 tracks are spread across 2 records like seeds sharing the same fertile ground embodied in Sublee's creativity. The album opens up with Yet Again, with its synthetic voices morphing back and forth into the track's melodic line. Side B hosts 2 cuts meant to drain all the energy off the dancefloor: Entre's obsessive spoken words, echoing deep into the techy structure, and Rumbletrouble elusive acid references that matches its pure techno roots like magic. After we let ourselves led by the riveting bassline through Road To Frequensea's playfully deep melodic lines, we hit the final chapter of this LP: Space Dive, a deep interlude into some cosmic electro future, and Mimistake, rolling full throttle into a chopped soundscape filled with heavy techno patterns.Indeepsum stays in line with the previous Metereze releases, following the road of innovations in the vast realm of electronic music.

This October, to mark its 10th anniversary, Booka Shade will release a 2016 remaster and expanded version of their era-defining LP Movements.Including 10 exclusive remixes from electronic music's finest artists including Nils Frahm, Jonas Rathsman, Deetron, Eats Everything, Dennis Ferrer, Patrick Topping, M.A.N.D.Y, Andhim, Hunter Game and Chi Thanh who will take on classic singles including 'Night Falls', 'Mandarine Girl', 'Lost High', 'In White Rooms', and of course, 'Body Language' (Remixes appear only on 2CD version + download code included with vinyl) Presenting a mixture of original works, reprises, reworks and remixes, Arno Kammermeier and Walter Merziger have ensured there is no sonic stone left unturned in this reissue of Movements. The MFD crew's back! With their third release, the boys are exploring dub infused grooves and acid flavours. Massive early support from Anthea, Maayan Nidam, Fernando Constantini, Boris Werner, Nuno Dos Santos, Onno, Monika Kruse, Carlo Lio, Leix.

Northsouth is a new London-based label, started between 3 friends. This first release sees Frankfrurts Chris Geschwindner take charge on the north side and Henry Hyde on the south. Each artist has provided 2 tracks, showcasing different sounds in their production styles and is a strong start for the new imprint.

Elliot project 003moves towards a selection of interesting pieces with two orignals by Greek artist Hemo. The first original, entitled 'Clouds' is a moving electro journey with powerful pads and subtle basslines. 'Dogman' turns a corner delivering a cosmic styled disco flight with catchy riffs and resonating bass leads.
S. Crosbie from the Dark Arts imprint also joins the project remixing 'Clouds' into stripped back techno and Frazer Campbell closing off the release with an emotion fueled version of 'Dogman'.

2LP Gatefold Album Portable Sunsets is one of the monikers of Peter Segerstrom: a producer based in Brooklyn, US. He previously released his full-length album 'Bless' on Atomnation, an LP as 'Surfing' on 1080p and another Portable Sunsets LP on Deadelus 'Magical Property' label. 'Order' is the follow up of these records and is a dreamy, somewhat lo-fi experimental techno LP. Combined with an ancient ambient undertone, 'Order' is not loosing its club ready vibe. This record floats somewhere between laid-back warehouse techno and the electronica genre - very much representing a unique style: Peter often uses his own voice in his productions, programmed through self-created synths in MAX/MSP. Vocals have become textures and are used as a synth, pad or soundscape. The combination of genres makes 'Order' a perfect record to dream away on at home, as well as to dance to in clubs.

Here we are again. 'Highlights', the second release from Panea is ready. First stop, An amazing journey over the frequencies by the hand of Primary Perception. Second stop, A deep beauty from Aleexe and Pepe. On the other side, the master S. Moreira delights us with one of his gems, no more words need to be said. Last but not least, the much talented guys from Formas with a very personal groove.

Seventh release from the Gilesku series is brought to you by two talented artists from Germany and Slovenia, joining their forces for this wonderful piece of art. Flirting with acid and minimal, Topper and Vid Vai are proving themselves to be the promising artists of the younger generation.

Language is a tricky thing. It's possible to convey the most beautiful and heartfelt experiences with just a few words but meanings can be lost in translation. Language itself being just a symbol pointing to the actual thing, like fingers pointing to the moon it's key not to mistake the finger for the actual moon. If you do you might miss all the heavenly glory the finger is pointing to. The map is not the territory.
Kiani & His Legion is back on SoHaSo with the next chapter in his sonic explorations. A mini-album that's more than the sum of it parts, drawing you in with a story worth to be told. Using a language that doesn't need to be explained trough words, the symbols merge with their meaning trough sound.
The story commences with a female voice whispering gently to you to 'close your eyes and fly' and while making your journey don't forget to 'breath'. You get introduced to the sturdy drum patterns and eerie string pads that have become main ingredients for Kiani's soundworld. Eindeloos takes an irresistible groove and badass walking bass winding up between endless flanging spirals.
Oval Flight starts out with the cheeky sound of an electric harp but inside it hides a seed that sprouts to enormous proportions. Beneath the beauty you can feel something sweltering, wanting to expose itself. It links back to the beginning and finally lifts you off with a grand gesture. If You Remember Me Then I Don't Care If Veryone Else Forgets, uses haunting atmospheres that remind of 80's science fiction or the eerie vibes found in Twin Peaks to provide safe landing ground beneath the feet after your flight.
L.O.V.E. forms an appropriate conclusion to the story, reflecting with a melancholic chord progression, soul healing choirs and the phonetic symbols 'Lima, Oscar, Victor, Echo' repeating till infinity.
