drifting away into another dimension, to the ocean, the sun and warm sand between your feet and back. Sous Sol's track on this release has it all, including a sense of delight that brings out a smile on your face. The rolling bass line brings in mind the Siberian express rolling through the cold winter landscape of Russia while at the same time there is warmth and the heart gets filled with these warm elements. This rolls parallel to a consistent build up throughout the whole track that makes this composition just perfect.

If you are already acquainted with The Mole, his music tells a story - sometimes it has no beginning or end but nonetheless his tunes tell us something. These are generated from hours of jamming and recording in the studio, artfully edited and pulled from these sessions into the tracks you know and love today. We're all fans of Krautrock here and love how likeminded artists used to come together, pass the pipe and press record - leading to some of the finest records of the 1970's from such moments. We take inspiration from that and as The Mole is a friendly sort of guy, he loves to collaborate and play with his friends - some good friends and some new friends - we welcome you to the first installment of a series called BEST BUDS by introducing you to two of h!is fondest.
Please welcome two Canadians who happen to also reside in The Mole's current home of Berlin. Hreno has been splashing all over the House pool - the dude has been making a huge mess this past year with exceptional records on Turbo and Meander. He also is a long time collaborator with The Mole with remixes for Dinky, Imugem Orihasam, DDMS and more. "Things Are Heating Up In The Grizzly Maze" is named after their adventures in the wilds of Canada and brings out one of their fi!nest studio showdowns with this punchy sweet house number.
Ernesto Ferreyra came to us from Argentina many moons ago and we now proudly call him a Canadian. You likely know him from his releases on Cadenza or seen him play - a titanic talent who joins up with The Mole to conjure an opus. Exceptionally mastered and cut by Stefan Betke / Pole, this 16 minute long jam is destined to come and go throughout a single DJ set thanks to the extraordinary trip it invites you to join and play along with. From the depths of techno to a house fuelled sunrise serenade and a climactic ambient finale there is little more to ask for. In May 2013 at a nondescript Seattle space called 1927 Events, twothirds of Magic Mountain High—Germany's David Moufang (aka Move D) and the Netherlands' Jordan Czamanski of Juju & Jordash—teamed up for a live performance that made everyone in the room feel privileged to have witnessed it. It was the kind of set during which you say to yourself, 'I hope to hell somebody's recording this.' Thankfully, somebody was doing just that, and the 99minute Live In Seattle is the sterling result. People throw around the word 'deep' to describe electronic music with cavalier frequency, but in the case of Moufang and Czamanski (who also records as Jordan GCZ), that adjective barely encapsulates the kind of fathomless sound they create. Their work as Magic Mountain High—which includes Juju &Jordash's Gal Aner—combines the two artists' springloaded, psychedelic techno and libidostokinghouse, exponentially multiplying their propulsive and disorienting qualities. Live In Seattle captures them working at the zenith of their improvisational powers for a rabid crowd—despite their European gear not functioning and having to use unfamiliar equipment, which is a testament to the pair's ability to create and adjust on the fly.The show begins with anticipatory cymbal taps and a beautifully morose melodica motif that wouldn't sound out of place in an Ennio Morricone soundtrack

André Bratten grew up in Oslo on the border between a bustling city and a dense forest. That juxtaposition has informed his sound: Bratten skillfully imbues cosmic disco with intense cerebral techno. Bratten's cinematic tendency stems from his experience as a theater score composer, while his dancier side is influenced by the Norwegian disco scene that raised him. He released his debut album Be A Man You Ant (2013) on Prins Thomas' Full Pupp label, and shares a studio with Thomas, Todd Terje, and Lindstrøm. However, rather than simply emulate these figureheads, Bratten blazed his own trail, blending disco with a grim psychedelia rarely heard on the dance floor. Though Bratten has taken the Oslo scene outside of its comfort zone, that hasn't stopped "Trommer & Bass" from becoming a dance sensation around the world. The track, originally released on a compilation by Berlin-based label Correspondant, has been played by legends like DJ Harvey and Erol Alkan, and has solidified Bratten as the dense, ominous heir to the bright disco throne.
Bratten is fascinated by music that makes people feel like they're going crazy, and his first EP for Smalltown Supersound, Math Ilium Ion, does just that. The EP's complex trajectory gives it the scope of a full album — listeners are bound to question their sanity while progressing from the spacey synths of "Trommer & Bass" to the driving low end of "Minor Misconception." The slow build of the final track (deceptively titled "Intro").
