Surfacing from the depths of Ki's waters to cheers and happy roars, Arp Aubert bursts forth with a long-awaited new release. From the shop of Mirau operator Stephan Lorenz, Moshislongo' bears his trademark devotion to exhilarated perfection. The title track rolls out a hovercraft-like texture, bound for the scenic route amidst a ock of happily uttering beats of myriad shapes and sizes. A sparkling surge from beneath bounces the lot along in kaleidoscopic unison, birds of a feather after all.

Time is running...and it seems like we just woke up out of our interstellar sleep-mode as we are facing the arrival of the 14th edition of the almighty COCOON RECORDINGS COMPILATION. Starting with the letter 'A' we reached 'N' meanwhile which probably marks one of the longest running techno-compilation-series ever around. The list of the featured artists is amazing and almost endless. Big names like Funk D'Void, Alter Ego, Michael Mayer, Steve Bug, DJ Rush, Adam Port, Christian Smith, Nina Kravitz, Henrik Schwarz or Argy can be found here. Not to forget some of the biggest players in the circus like Sven Väth, Anthony Rother, Extrawelt, Timo Mass, Radio Slave or Ricardo Villalobos, DJ Koze, Dubfire and even Berlin's Basic Channel mastermind Moritz Von Oswald! With the new 'Compilation N' we will add even more big names side by side to some fresh and promising ones. Let's start with Konstantin Sibold & Leif Müller who gave us 'Kolibri", a great slowed down techno-tune that brings us back to the high days of Alter Ego when Harthouse released big listening and electronica albums. Track number two by Julian Perez follows that feeling and explores the deep and dubby sides of techno, too. A perfect transition to Frankfurt homeboy Markus Fix. It's dub again however spiced up with hypnotic strings and a clubby kickdrum shaking our bass bins! With track number four, 'Compilation N' opens the door to proper and kicking club music.

anyone who followed the development of house music made in the usa in the last decade will certainly have met the art of fred peterkin aka fred p aka black jazz consortium.
since a while the new york city native that is working on his very own music for almost 20 years is on everyone's lips as he is releasing some of the gentlest soul infiltrated four-to-the-floor house creations you can get.

his musical set phrase isn't new or special as he is often simply melting shuffling percussions with elementary melodies. but he does it in a sense that the heavy used and abused phrase 'deepness' finally gets a fresh truthfully new meaning.

as a man who danced in his younger years in legendary nyc clubs like the red zone, sound factory or tunnel to dj sets of larger-than-life selectors like david morales, frankie knuckles or danny tenaglia, he learned that sometimes less is more. and that he should rather listen to his heart and soul, then to the susurrus of the music market.

that is why you can call his house music journey music, music to travel. sometimes it is an introspective and meditative journey sometimes an inspirational and lively one. it always stays visionary while using simple codes to transform his inner voice into rhythms and melodies.

most of the eps and albums that he produced as fred p or black jazz consortium have been released via his very own label soul people music, which exists since ten years. as fred p he also dropped 12inches on jus-ed's underground quality imprint as well as on toshiya kawasaki's mule music label.

for the latter he now produced an album under the moniker of fp-oner that is listening to simply title '5'. why it does so the man from nyc borough queens explains in the liner notes by himself. it is the start of a new trilogy that will lean more to the jazzier, relaxed and atmospherically side of his artistically deep house expressions.

Luciano Esse's own blend of Techno has led him to release on acclaimed labels such as Safari Electronique, Trapez Ltd and Material among others, and to be invited as a special guest on John Digweed's Kiss 100 Radio Show. His decade long gig schedule has seen him take the stage at superclubs like Fabric London, Matter, Fuse and Pacha Ibiza to name a few. His wide range of musical inspirations can be found in all the nuances and subtleties of his productions: his third work for Aloe Musique is just as precise and tasteful as you would expect from him. 'Going Home''s atmospheres and galloping bass flow into a passionate vocal in the break, a momentary slowdown amidst the warm mood of the track. On the other side, Rashomon Club's resident Stefano Testa speeds up the pace with a darker and slinkier number: percussive, big on the low frequencies and boasting a trippy synth line, 'Argonauti16' is a perfect dancefloor tune, with a lush rhythm and catchy vibe.

Lokee Musik's sophomore release features newcomer Afriqua. A 21 year old from Virginia, USA and currently based in Berlin. This fledgling producer and student of the Royal Academy of Music sparked interest with Lokee when they met at one of their famous after hours in London. The title track here is 'Melt' & features broken groove with Afriqua's minimal perspective. Electric pulse stabs are at the heart of this rhythm and drive it with a much appreciated space. Vocals from Sorcha Richardson adds an eerie anthemic touch reminiscent of somewhere between the Cocteau Twins & Fever Ray. Cesar Merveille delivers the first 'Melt' remix. An epic 12 minute journey that maintains Afriqua's hypnotic intensions with a more uplifting and positive tone. A perfect track for when the sun is just starting peaking over the horizon. The remix is to be featured on a Candenza mix CD that Cesar has recorded and will be available before the summer. Fresh from his album release - '8 Bit Ocean' on Sasha's Last Night on Earth imprint , and also 1/3 of My Favorite Robot - James Teej provides the another remix of 'Melt'. The remix features Teej's trademark synth work that sure doesn't detract from the title of his album.

'Sleduyushly'or who's next up on Sol Asylum is Anton Zap. We are very pleased to be closing out 2014 with the delightfully well-crafted Deep House that resonates within Anton.

We start with Talking a simplistic yet deep and ever-evolving atmosphere with peculiar echoes and noises that speak to us through constantly moving metallic percussion. Next Rubblewood with its trotting wooden clicks and oscillating claps we morph through the track until the euphoric themes expand bringing us to the next level.

In My Lesson, Anton channels a 90's ambience with a definite feel for funk. Arpeggiated synths with just a hint of acid mixed with harmonic pads and unconventional horn riffs bring this eccentric soundtrack together. Finally Her Lesson brings us to more experimental territory with a futuristic outer galactic journey through space and time where a metronomic kick, walking bassline and gleaming pads transport us to another dimension.

It is a smart and airy groove of atoms in space that rules this mesmerizing album, leading off with an irresistibly deconstructed downbeat monstrosity deceptively tagged as the 'Modern Hit Midget' as opposed to actually being a giant. One giant of seven, to be precise: safe in harbour are the seven giants of free Funk who proceed through a variety of way-out psychedelicacies. Which increase in flavour under headphones. The wane of Villalobos' and Loderbauer's free-floating energy of their Re:ECM work is more than offset here by the increase in rhythmic push through sensual syncopation and eruptive bass energy. The duo is the impetus in Perlon's great new swinging machine.

MPC style swing infects the groove on ""Rise and Shine"" adding soothing vocals and subtle acid lines to Side A. Flip the disc for deep, funking atmospherics on ""Knotting"" and ""Spheres"" adds some of Kashawar's early morning dub magic to the package. Qual is Lebanon Hanover's bassist and vocalist William Maybelline.
With his solo project he aims to examine his personal view on music, Maybelline moved from the pop touch of well-known and respected main band of his to cruise the slums of darker and even more extreme electronics.
To quote William's own words, Qual is about vile visions, despaired in a frowning black tower of pain. Concealed yearns of a desolate heart, trying to scratch that unscratchable rotting itch from within. Centuries of sorrow drenched in gloomy electronics that palpitate like human passions.

Baby Ford and Zip need little introduction and debut on Trelik as "BFZ" featuring co-conspiritor Thomas Melchior. The trio originally appeared on the 1999 "Perlondon" 12" for Perlon with Ford and Zip re-uniting for the "Glidin' Along The Riverbed" release then 2010's "Clean Hands" on PAL SL. Thomas Melchior recently appearing on (a:rpia:r) and his own Aspect Music kicks off the 12" with a floor friendly up-beat 9 minute "Melchior Productions LTD" edit remix of "Uff". An "Uffapella" closes the A-side featuring abstract sound design and textured vocals. Side-B's "So They Say" creates a feeling of space and unhurried rhythmatics whilst the title track "Uff" combines deep instrumentals, chord and haunting vox with subtle bass and modulating kick. Recorded in London and Berlin. Mastered at D & M.

Fresh Romanian Imprint with ulraphat groovin hypnotic Techno Slammer

Spilt Milk return with their second release from Mr Spilt Milk himself Tred Benedict. Tred drops a tasty original track full of groove and energy, alot like the man himself. On remix duties, label favourite MarcAshken turns a wonderful interpretation and the awesome Mihai Popoviciu takes things up a notch with a classy techno work out. The final track is another original but this time in collaboration with label partner St. Bernard, with the pair dropping a rather murky minimal number with some choice words from one of their idols.

Das Side Projekt aus den beiden separaten Acts "Arts & Leni" und "Wolfgang Lohr" geht in die zweite Runde. Nach ihrer Debüt EP, im Oktober 2012 auf dem Berliner Label Ostfunk, folgt nun das zweite Release bei Ton Liebt Klang (Hamburg). Herausgekommen sind nach akribischer Frickelei zwei Tech House / Minimal Nummern mit dominanten Basslines und sehr lässigem Groove, für den tanzbaren Bereich auf der Clubwiese. Mit dem Einsatz von analoger Hardware, sämtlicher Souveränität beider Künstler und einer ausgefeilten eigenen Stilistik, ist das Ergebnis eine gesunde musikalische Mischung aus dem sich perfekt ergänzenden Duo!

Für den Remix von "Take This Back" wurde Fernando Tessis (Brasilien), Labelhead bei Kombo Records, ins Boot geholt. Mit seiner Interpretation ist eine druckvolle und ebenfalls sehr tanzbare, alternative Version kreiert worden, deren Coolness ihresgleichen sucht!

The Chosen Two (Berlin) haben mit dem Remix zu "Red Curson" mal wieder ihre Remix-Qualitäten unter Beweis gestellt und eine ganz eigene aber authentische Aufarbeitung, mit starker Bassline, zurecht geschustert. Sind aber bei ihren Leisten geblieben und ergänzen die Veröffentlichung zu einem runden Erlebnis und Ergebnis für den Verlegebereich im dampfenden Club!

Jedsa Soundorom, famous dj and producer from Paris and long time COR100's friend and partner, brings us the "Jack is High" E.P. "Jack is High" on Side A is a dubby deep tech house track with a perfect vocal matching the Soundorom's unique groove and beats that will make you high and in a dancing mood just by listening to it. "Ganja" on Side B is an insane rhythmic, vocals and heavy bass line. To end up perfectly, the track " Shapin' " is groovy, deep and a little zen feeling in the melodies to chill or continue partying. youAND:THEMACHINES is the solo project of Martin who is a part of youANDme.
"BEHIND" is his longplayer debut on ORNAMENTS and is a mirror of all his influences from dub
techno, ambient, downbeat, Detroit techno and house music. Never before has Martin incorporated his
music so much in analog hardware, field recordings and hidden messages.
He has invited orchestral musicians to collaborate on the project and one of his main ideas was to use
no samples and generate every sound with a range of classic analog instruments using modern
techniques of the year 2013 without loosing the old spirit.
Guests vocal collaborations from around the world include Robert Owens, Brothers' Vibe, Delhia de
France, Keter Darker and Bajka. Each of them adding their unique character to the album indulging
the listener into new mystical directions.

Earlier this year we presented you Offenbach, Christian Burkhardt's latest stroke, including the hit Delight. Now
we are back again with a charming selection of remixes, including work by Tobi Neumann and Julien Veniel aka
D'Julz. Tobi Neumann's remix reminds the attentive listener to the old days of Oslo. It is so to speak on the
point. It's light, but still complex in a special way. Tobi carefully unhinged the catchy vocals of 'Delight', added
it at some points and put his glance over it. The B-side is home to D'Julz's interpretation of 'Pianissimo'. A dark
and powerful house track, that finds its glory in its simplicity. A subtle piano sample is the basis for a
forward moving drum pattern. Here and there an eerie vocal shot rises and guides the dancer through the musical mind of D'Julz.

Purple Horizon marks the debut vinyl release for South Coast producer Sam Smith, an artist who has been immersed in the UK house and techno scene for more than ten years. As a founding member of the Delete events collective he has played alongside the likes of Akufen, Mike Shannon, Portable and Move D in London, Bristol, Brighton and Bournemouth, while continually working in the studio alongside his DJ activities.

This first release for his own Nothing Odd Recordings showcases the sound Smith has been honing for years, with a focus on experimental textures and disorientating samples set amongst crisp, rock-solid rhythms operating on the axis between house and techno.

With this stylistic approach in mind Baby Ford made for a logical choice of remixer, particularly considering the veteran producer's later forays into dark, hypnotic minimal house and techno as seen on his releases for Perlon, amongst others.

The Moritz Von Oswald Trio opens a new chapter. There's a new configuration to the project, with Tony Allen joining original members Moritz von Oswald and Max Loderbauer. Allen, the legendary drummer who's amassed a formidable catalogue both as a solo artist and as part of Fela Kuti's band, has taken over percussion duties from Vladislav Delay.

Together, von Oswald, Loderbauer and Allen form something close to a dream team, two masters of the electronic sphere meeting an afrobeat pioneer. Allen had already established a rapport with the group before they entered the studio to record Sounding Lines—he's been touring with von Oswald and Loderbauer for more than a year, playing live shows around the world.

There has been an evolution on each new Moritz Von Oswald Trio record, and Sounding Lines is no different. The album, which was mixed by Ricardo Villalobos, maintains the project's trajectory—a fearless exploration of dub techno, classical music and jazz—but the prevailing mood feels looser and more organic than ever before. Allen's imperious percussive work sits tantalisingly in the mix. His drums meet the electronics of von Oswald and Loderbauer in a way that renders the project in new, vivid colours.

There are 4/4 tracks, beatless interludes and complex jazz structures, with propulsive recordings ("3") coexisting alongside more languid moments ("1"). Sometimes Allen provides flourishes of drums (notably on "4") while at other times spectral synths come to the fore (as on "5"). Von Oswald, a masterful composer and arranger with a deep understanding of space, paints the crevices of each composition on Sounding Lines with rich detail. Individually, von Oswald, Loderbauer and Allen are formidable and hugely influential musicians.
As a trio, they've conjured something remarkable.
