Los Angeles-based producers Mikael Stavöstrand and (a)pendics.shuffle are no strangers to followers of cutting-edge dance music from the past decade or so. They first teamed up back in 2006 for a pair of releases on (a)pendics.shuffle's own Adjunct, and individually they've worked with a plethora of other respected labels including Mo's Ferry, Leftroom and Clink. Now, their first collaborative release for AMAM comes in the form of the Midnight Machines EP, including remixes by Alessio Mereu and Simon Garcia. "The Other One" is based on a propulsive shuffle of percussion that's contrasted by lingering atmospheric flourishes that David Lynch would approve of - this one pairs well with the fog machine! The atonal bursts of brass come without warning, suggesting a Loch Ness monster rearing its head from the shadowy waters, giving the track an element of suspense. Then, Simon Garcia, also known as Kornelius and Larakki, adds a bright sheen to the track, taking into dubby house territory that provides the aural equivalent of tunnel vision as its subtitle suggests. On the flipside, AMAM head honcho Alessio Mereu offers the most kinetic version with its clattering rhythmic arrangement. Finally, Mikael and (a)pendics close out the EP with another original, the namesake of the EP:. "Midnight Machines" boldly combines a laid-back bassline, a Tchaikovskyesque loop, plasmatic synth tones and deranged vocal outbursts, all retrofitted onto a teutonic grid. The full 10-minute version is available as a digital download, with the vinyl edit condensing its exponential evolution into a mere 7 minutes - either way, this cut is definitely one of the more adventurous trips your ears will take this year.

Straight from Buenos Aires, brimful of sun, comes Brouqade's latest release. Nina Soul convinces with his intense, pulse-pumping house productions. Pushed by an extremely funky vocal, "Feel You" rolls in on a wave of gentle piano chords just to capture you entirely by concentrating on its crystal clear, cracking beat.  "To Me" interweaves smooth groove with finest old school elements, discretely tightening the track with Acid vocals in the fill, to end up cool and relaxed, pouring out into balmy summer-party nights. In "Try to Pretend", the dark, metallic sound encounters melancholy female memory on a sigh ("Well..."). Faster looks at the matter more pragmatically. In his remix, his focus on sound and mood creates a hypnotic track - entirely devoted to the dance floor and to the children of the night.

There is no place like home. That is exactly what Dapayk & Padberg had in mind after they released their new album at the beginning of the year. Now they reveal their next EP on Mo's Ferry. 'Don't Sleep' lives up to its name. Due to this pushing track everyone jumps remote-controlled on the dance floor and the idea of falling asleep has no chance to enter your head. Plus, there's a cherry on the cake: a remix by Tiefschwarz.

"The world is full of colors and beautiful!" is the motto of Antientertainers and this exactly is what they have been translating onto their first 14-track album.

The timbre of the tracks is very diverse, sometimes referencing old-school electro, synthesizer-loving pads and melodies as well as tight rhythms, originating in house and techno. All tracks are being infused with a charming pop-appeal, courtesy of Antientertainer Jens' voice. The special momentum of the tracks lies in their well-balanced interplay of melancholy and lightheartedness. The defined beats develop a special energy that carries the individual basic mood of all their tracks, sometimes bedding them softly, at other times starkly contrasting them or polishing them with a satin feel. In this manner there are small musical stories being told, picturing topics like love, loss, the peculiarity of life in our times or last night's touching conversation.

Antientertainers are shaping this caleidoscope of moods in a very unique musical form, where the melancholic rhythmic fundament is contrasted by hopefully charged vocals. In spite of the coherence in the general tone of the album, the 14 tracks are completely diverse and individual in their character, and cover the whole spectrum from summertime swing for unforgettable open air moments, over the perfect hymn for the dancers flight to cloud no. 9, until the focused track for the upcoming night in a dimmed club.

This album is a scenting fusion of electronic playstyles, which accentuates pop in capital letters and understands diversity not as a badge, but as a fertile medium on which it is built. A seminal record, smooth until the end, animated with the necessary laxity that already moves the heart upon hearing it first. We set sails into the direction of hope, because the world is indeed full of colors and beautiful!

a relentless hard-hitting bass underpins a masterful mix of vocals, curious percussive snippets and twisted chord jabs. On a slightly deeper note, you'll find the DEEPGITAL AREA with its deep sensuous vocals across throbbing beats.

- The Best is Yet to Come' is the title of the newest release by Schallbox Records and also stands for the claim of the Basel based recording label to continually evolve and develop itself further, thereby upping the ante with each new release.
Schallbox014 is a deep and ever grooving track made by Berlin's Michael Nielebock and Leevey that will definitely see the openair season prolonged until the end of the year. Additionally, Larsson delivers a dubby remix featuring an electrifying beat and broad synth sounds. Schallbox even resurrects some golden memories of legendary Bar25 - courtesy of Sasch Cawa and Dirty Doering's remix which is furthermore gratifying the vinyl package. Last but not least the release is completed by the contribution of newcomer Benotmane from Basel, who converts the original into a dreamy sunrise tune.
The additional digital mix by DJ Gomor at first stays true to the deep vibe of the original, yet flavored with a pinch of jazz and funk before then converging into a fully-blown club hymn.

Sie sind im 20. Stock angekommen. 20 Schallplatten - nicht schlecht wenn man bedenkt, wie die Verkaufszahlen der Vinyl zurück gehen. Die Jungs aus der Platte setzen auf Ihre Residents und überzeugen mit Minimal-Techno - wie immer.
