Back in 2007, a track titled 'Mini Man' was released by a stranger to the audience 18 year old artist named Alex Dimou. The title might have been the best one to describe the person behind the track, the mini man, a kid with such a passion and will to demand a place in the grown up's world. And he made it. 'Mini Man' charted 7 out of 9 tracks included in the release, something that could not pass unnoticed from the Tech house community.

Es wird immer Leute geben, die feiern. Und es gibt jedes Jahr neue Kids, die in die Szene eintauchen, hungrig nach Vergnügen, Schönheit, Ekstase - hungrig nach dem Leben! In den letzten Jahren hat sich Ibiza zu einem der Zentren moderner elektronischer Tanzmusik entwickelt, und eine Schlüsselfigur dabei ist zweifelsohne Sven Väth. Die Mittelmeerinsel und er haben es zusammen schon weit gebracht. Bereits als Jugendlicher erlebte er die flamboyante Atmosphäre des Nachtlebens auf der Insel und wurde in Dimensionen des Vergnügens katapultiert, wie er sie in seiner Heimatstadt Frankfurt so noch nicht gesehen hatte. 1999 entschied sich Väth, etwas von der Energie und Inspiration, die er von der felsigen Insel mit dieser einzigartigen Atmosphäre bekommen hatte, zurückzugeben. Immer den Blick auf qualitativ hochwertige Musik gerichtet, hat Väth eine neue Art der Partyerfahrung etabliert, indem er eine Reihe passionierter Musiker und Aktivisten um sich geschart hat - und dieses Cocoon-Ibiza-Abenteuer findet im Jahr 2012 bereits zum (aM) CD 1-13 Mal statt! Als Zeremonienmeister lädt sich Sven Väth immer einen Mix aus langjährigen Begleitern und aufstrebenden Talenten ein, als DJ wiederum scannt er sich mit schlafwandlerischer Sicherheit durch eine riesige Menge neuer Musik. Er hat dabei schon so manchen akustischen Schatz ausgegraben und diesem in der von ihm geschaffenen perfekten Umgebung zu voller Entfaltung seines Potentials verholfen.

Die (aM) CD 1-13 Saison wird mit Thomas Hoffdings vielversprechender Stimme eröffnet, subtil arrangiert von Terranova. Die Grooves des jungen Produzenten wAFF sind danach stabiler und anspruchsvoller, die erotische Frauenstimme lockt uns tiefer und tiefer in den Cocoon hinein und bringt die emotionale Dichte dieses klassischen New York House so richtig zur Geltung. Aber niemand schafft es, die Kräfte das Basses so rückhaltlos zu entfesseln wie der Berliner WK7, der das Set in eine technoidere Richtung rückt. Die Tumulte auf der Tanzfläche werden dann von Margots mäanderndem Acid-Track vorweggenommen und die Tuff CIty Kids schieben das Ganze mit ihren bemerkenswert anspruchsvollen Akkorden nochmal so richtig an. Die einzigartigen Soul-Grooves von Octave One betonen danach einmal mehr die zügellose Kraft der Synthesizer und Ben Sims raffiniert-glatte Sounds bändigen die Aufregung des Hörers etwas, während mysteriöse Piepstöne über der Tanzfläche schweben, als wären sie eine akustische Skulptur. Sam Paganini geht sogar noch weiter in diese Richtung und überrascht die Tanzenden mit Sounds aus einer anderen Galaxie. An dieser Stelle käme wohl normalerweise dann der riesige Breakdown, der die Crowd vollkommen um den Verstand bringt. Nicht so bei Väth. Er verschmilzt Tracks von Sawlin, P.A.S. und Exercise One und komponiert so eine sehr kraftvolle Sequenz: sich immer weiter steigernd, gleichzeitig aber vollkommen gefasst, reicht dieser Teil weit über das hinaus, was sich mit dem normalen Vokabular des Peaktime-Techno beschreiben lässt. Schließlich löst sich das erste Set in den Tribal-Grooves von Silent Servant und der poetischen Klangwelt Ray Kajiokas auf und kommt zum Ende.

Die zweite CD beginnt völlig anders: mit süßen House-Sounds von Makam, unschuldig und doch voller Andeutungen. Die Anziehungskraft und Grazie des Dixon-Edits von Romanthonys Klassiker "The Wanderer" zieht die tanzende Menge dann vollkommen in ihren Bann, und mit &MEs irritierenden Alien-Sounds wird dann der ideale Kontrapunkt dazu gesetzt. Julien Bracht fordert die Crowd mit Broken Beats und verführt sie gleichzeitig mit einer sehnsuchtsvollen Vocal-Linie. Die Einfachheit der hypnotisierenden Melodie von Alejandro Mosso entwaffnet den Dancefloor schließlich komplett. Die mitunter etwas schwer greifbaren elektronischen Sounds eines Lawrence ergießen sich auf die Tänzer wie ein Mittsommerregen. Der rumänische Cocoon-Hero Rhadoo tritt dann etwas auf die Bremse und versetzt den Dancefloor in eine unwiderstehliche Bewegung. Wie nur wenige andere Künstler, schafft es der Frankfurter Roman Flügel, die Sprache der elektronischen Tanzmusik in Frage zu stellen. Er verschmilzt Geschichte und Zukunft der House-Musik in der humorvollsten Art und Weise, die möglich ist. Etwas weg von diesem Sound bewegt sich dann der britische Musik-Querdenker Four Tet und schlägt damit einen ziemlich anspruchsvollen Ton an. Die schweren, basslastigen Akkorde von Four Tet gehen danach in Uners vielschichtigen und transparenten House über, aus dem Sonne und Licht nur so herausstrahlen. Gathaspar vereint die unterschiedlichen Energien in einer alles durchdringenden Soundlandschaft. Soy Mustafa und John Tejada haben das letzte Wort und nehmen den Dancefloor durch ihre jenseitige Gelassenheit mit auf die Reise in eine andere Welt. Am Ende ist die Musik nur ein Teil des Abenteuers. Sven Väth schafft es, eine einzigartige Beziehung zu seiner Crowd herzustellen und führt uns durch Erfahrungen wie kein Anderer.

Two American heroes team up to deliver the straight prison-funk, and they've got the tattoos to prove it. Somebody call the Department of Homeland Security. It's no secret that Kris Wadsworth and Butane have both done hard time. In this case, a simple mutual respect lead to the decision that this record must be made. And so here it is. Three tracks of uncompromising raw attitude. Nothing premeditated here. Just honest, warehouse-style jack-mode techno, done by two of the Midwest's finest.

Exprezoo Records and Rio Padice met many years ago. They grew up together and often their paths crossed. And so
after Don Dragon released in 2010, Rio Padice and Exprezoo enshrine their bond with the new vinyl: H.A.A.R.P.

"Without Music" is a killer 12 inch from Pro-Tez camp with remixes from Satoshi Fumi, Tom Clark and Yate. All mixes work for the dance floor, ranging from spindly-tech/house through to lolloping great hunks of beaty chunky goodness with an estranged Herbert/Swayzak feel.

The endorsement of legends of electronic music only confirms what everyone already knows: when it comes to the Brazilian female DJs, Aninha tops the list.

Aninha's career began in the region today celebrated as 'the Brazilian Ibiza'. Ten years ago, however, everything was different on the north coast of Santa Catarina. Madly in love with music - by her own definition - she gave up marketing school ('without thinking twice') to devote herself to her true calling: give people unforgettable moments and deep musical journeys through designed grooves and mesmerizing bass lines. At that time, early 2000, times were different. Just a reminder of how music was consumed to conclude that, yes, a lot has changed. To buy records, for example, the DJs had to travel to Sao Paulo, or the privileged, to London. From her hometown Itapema, Aninha never let distance be a limitation to chase her dream. 'All the money I earned, was to buy records. Then, as the internet was too slow, I called the stores in Sao Paulo and heard the tracks on the phone, 'she recalls.

Discovered in 2003 at a party in Curitiba, in a short time has occupied the post of Warung Beach Club's resident DJ, which had begun a year before an incredible journey that marked the history of Brazilian culture club forever. Aninha is part of this and other stories.

An it couldn't be different, the recognition for a job so passionate was soon to appear. Since 2006, our favorite DJ began to soar greater heights with invitations to play in clubs in Ibiza, Berlin, Hanover, Austria, Italy, United Arab Emirates, among others. Sensitivity, taste and perfect technique always impressed djs for those she usually do warm ups, her specialty.

Generous and dedicated reaps praise, admiration and recognition not only of the professionals with whom she works, but mainly the public. She has loyal fans. They know when she connects her headphones, moments will be kept forever in the memory.

Dinamuzac returns with the bonafide EP "Infinicious Orange" by Dinamoe (aka Rico Puestel)! Tough and vigorous Techno on the A-side, deep and pervasive house with a sparkle of acid on side B, three locked grooves (Well-Shaped Redundancies) from unreleased childhood productions on each side. A limited number of 111 copies hits the streets as translucent orange marbled vinyl!

01.M.A.N.D.Y. vs Lopazz - Full Off 12

For their anniversary release Meander present a diverse and exceptional record. Celebrating with an exquisite family compilation from the labels core artists. Dusty stripped down Villa Rossi is the result from a breathtaking late night session leading into blissed out moments. Ion Ludwig who recently released on Trelik and his new UGold label, is softly jamming the magic here with his analog machines. Tetraeder jumps right into the deep sea, with clever modular synthesizer morphings, heavy meandering basslines and tight drumming DeWalta creates a unique cut of uncompromising power house. Karma is a refreshing cinematographic work, dragging you into warm chords and intelligent rythms, a piece of originality in typical Pikaya style. Alejandros Zeit brings this showcase to its climax with a gentle, sensual and melodious house track, carefully executed in a crystal clear production. All artists serve previously unreleased tracks deliberately assembled for this release.

The eight tracks on 'Versus' exemplify a remarkable cross-pollination of genres, a true testament to the intense, 'it takes a village' spirit of collaboration among the artists in the Wolf & Lamb aquarium. The LP kicks off with 'Real Love,' an electronic duet with San Francisco's PillowTalk. A sparse, airy kick and lackadaisical, scale-climbing bass line complement a vocoder-drenched croon, evoking nothing less than an R&B version of Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works. In the album's next track, 'Fo Porter,' butter soft vocals from Voices of Black ("I want it/I need it/I just can't get enough/I hold it/I squeeze it/I just won't give it up") complement lush orchestral arrangements, doing for hip-hop inflected dance music what Metro Area does for disco. 'In The Morning,' an after the after party, hands to the air entry into the house of god, will instantly conjure up for those lucky enough to have visited the Marcy the familiar image of Gadi's hands feeling up the wall in ecstasy while Zev soldiers through the groove. 'Weekend Affair,' perhaps the real standout of an all-round exemplary album, punctuates stuttering, oscillating synths with a ferocious cowbell and moaned vocals, continuing a long-standing New York tradition of sexualized Downtown funk. The gorgeous 'Serpentine,' with it's kettle-drum compression worthy of Phil Collins's 'In the Air Tonight' and atmospheric vocals from French chanteuse Rap Lisa, is rounded out by the it's a perfect ending to the album, a moment of calm before the sharks, always on the move, start circling again.

Limo has been on our radar for some time now over at the We Are HQ, and finally we have found the perfect fitting tracks to release in a full four track 12' format. The dextrous and versatile manner of this Italian producer along with his love for hardware and synth sequencing is what we love, and you can really hear that he is on his own journey throughout this Ep even still with the speedy paste of 'Get Back', and Garage influenced transient vibe of 'Kayak'.

The occasional fisherman and graduated psychologist Vlad aka Monokle is responsible for the third LP on Ki Records. The Title of the Record is "Saints" and it will be available on Vinyl, CD and Digital. It's already the fifth LP release for the 26 year old producer from St. Petersburg. He's been making music since the mid-00s and has a massive creative output. As he says, he takes his inspiration from silence and Eric Satie is one of his biggest idols. His favorite label is Warp, so it's no wonder that some of the nine tracks do have reminiscences with the British label (e.g. Holt Found, Arrows or Homesick). But instead of quoting the sound of his big idols, he gives it an individual touch and continues the evolution of that certain kind of sound. His main Influences were IDM and Glitch, before he became more in touch with Ambient and Drone. All these different influences can be heard as sound fragments in his tracks. Like in a kaleidoscope, these fragments unite; get torn apart and in the end melt together again. Monokle says that "Music with simple rhythms and catchy beats gets him bored pretty quick". So he got rid of static listening and producing structures, to go his own way when creating music. The Vinyl version of Saints got three bonus tracks in the form of remixes by Fybe:one, WOLS and Milinal. The illustrations for the cover were made by Argentinean artist Carolina Nino. Just like Monokle she works with different shapes and pieces, bringing them together in a new context.
