Apart from the rush and hype all around electronic music these days, charmly embraced by the mighty Black Forrest, is the center of the - Badnerland'; good old Freiburg in Germany. At first it may be hard to believe that there is more than just sunshine and wine this far south, but you would be surprised by the ever growing request for electronic music in this region. So at this point it just feels right to finally come up with a strong label throughout this exciting movement; you've guessed it: Solide. Founded by the local House Veteran MYNY, joined by D.Y.A and Kalyma, the new born label will distribute a housy, raw and percussive club sound via Vinyl and Digital Media. Underlining this simple, effective sound with equally approached artworks by Bernardo Aviles Busch, was just one of our main goals. The Solide Series, always containing of one Original by a clique member and one Remix by a special Artist, will be our spotlight product. In addition we'd like to surprise ourselves with whatever comes to our mind. So be excited, because we are. Starting off strongly, founder MYNY brings you the Solide 001, entitled - Who´s That'. The title keeps the common reaction of the crowd within, as the track has been tested over the last six months. Taverna Tracks have tapped rising star John Dimas (One Records, La Vie En Rose) for their second release.
The first cut "Life on Mars" kicks off with some dirty swinging snares and hi hats, borrowing some influence from the late 90's.
On "High Motions" rolling beats break and dreamy pads peak in and out while the bass rolls nicely over the bottom end of the track.
As if this package wasn't complete the new label has saved the best for last. As a special treat they have enlisted the legendary Point G to lend his talents to remix "High Motions", which takes the package to the next level. The mix is a deep, rolling trippy peak hour track, perfect for adding action to the dancefloor.

Three formidable names from the electronic deep/techno scene combine on this sumptuous new EP for the burgeoning Jesus Was Black imprint. In various combinations, Maris, Egal 3 and Philipp Ort have previously collaborated on labels like KdMusic, Cadenza, WrongState, Affin, Flappers, Baccara, EDEC.. Their first joint effort in some time yields some superb results.

Danse Club label bosses Scott & Austen Smart AKA Brodanse unleash their second release on the label, the 'The Ride'' featuring vocals from Cari Golden. The release kicks off with the Original version of 'Nobody Walks', a tough and grooving slice of vocal house that employs a simple bass and piano chord groove to provide the soundbed for Cari Golden's distinctive vocals. Next up is the vinyl only Dub version of Nobody Walks, a slight re-arrangement and sparse delayed vocals snippets make a version more for the heads.Turning the record over will show you a darker side to the Brodanse signature groove. The B1, In The House is a solid rolling tech house banger, this track is definitely a tool for a club floor wanting to push the envelope. The B2, Reactivate is a dark, rolling DBX/Radio Slave inspired take on tech house, using filtered chords, deep sine bass, 909 rides and eery vocals.

Na, mit Kaytronik hat sich das Label R2 aber mal einen dicken Fisch geangelt. Kaytronik ist gewissermaßen das Alter Ego von Kris Klayton aka Karizma. Der 1970 in Baltimore, Maryland, geborene Produzent und DJ ist bekannt für eine große Bandbreite vielfältiger Veröffentlichungen, die von Deep House und Techno über Jazz bis Hip-Hop und Broken Beats reichen. Stilistische Grenzen sind nicht so sein Ding, Hauptsache das Ganze hat Groove. Sein Alias Kaytronik hat sich Klayton bislang für Remix-Arbeiten fremder und ausgesuchter eigener Produktionen reserviert. Dieses gestatte ihm größere musikalische Freiheiten, wie er selbst betont, und dadurch mehr Ausdrucksstärke und Leidenschaft. Dass die Ergebnisse dennoch eine eindeutige künstlerische Handschrift tragen und von einer berührend-emotionalen Klammer gehalten werden, stellt "Thee Album" unter Beweis. Hierauf erkundet Kaytronik zwischen laszivem Feierabend-Downbeat und Peaktime-Dancefloor-Brett den ganzen Reichtum elektronischer Klangwelten. Kategorisieren lässt sich das Album nicht, aber es klingt famos.

Der Berliner Musiker Klaus Schulze ist einer der bedeutendsten Elektronik-Künstler Deutschlands. Bevor er 1972 seine Solokarriere mit "Irrlicht" startete, war Schulze Schlagzeuger bei der Krautrockband Tangerine Dream. Sein Debüt trug den Untertitel "Quadrophonische Symphonie für Orchester und E-Maschinen". Und tatsächlich sind bei den Stücken auch Orchesterklänge zu hören. Heute weiß man, dass diese vom Colloquium Musica Orchester stammen, einem richtigen klassischen Orchester. Für die Erstveröffentlichung musste sich Schulze einst verpflichten, den Orchesternamen geheim zu halten. Er war einfach zu einer derer Proben gegangen, hatte 30 Minuten mitgeschnitten und dann die Aufnahmen für seine Tracks verfremdet. Wie Schulze anlässlich des Re-Release berichtete, hat "Irrlicht" mehr mit der Musique concrète zu tun als mit heutiger Elektronik. "Ich hatte damals auch noch keinen Synthesizer", so Schulze. Und weiter: "Ich besaß einen defekten Verstärker, den ich kurzgeschlossen hatte, und der auch nur diese eine Platte durchgehalten hat. Wenn man den Volumen-Regler aufdrehte, machte er ein internes Feedback, einen Sinus, und mit dem Tremelo habe ich ihn zwitschern lassen. An den Rückkopplungen ist er kaputtgegangen. Auch die Orgel hatte ich modifiziert, damit sie nicht nach einer normalen Orgel klang."
