Vertere Berlin is a contemporary fashion brand and party collective founded by a group of local DJs and designers. It was founded in 2017 and since then rose to international attention for their club-ready streetwear and their fashion collabos with DJs and labels like Jennifer Cardini, Disco Halal, DUAT Records to name a few. Vertere Berlin also made a name for themselve for their hyped party series “Strictly Dancefloor Business” - hosting artists like Roza Terenzi, Narciss, DJ Fuckoff, Boris, Heap as well as their resident DJs.

As a logical next step Vertere Berlin is now launching their music label Vertere Berlin Records.

The first release is by label founder Uli Hasselmann aka Basic Instinct. Basic Instinct’s DJ sets represent a hypnotic and atmospheric dub-house sound. This is also reflected in this release. “Angel Dust” is an elegant and moody house track - enriched with a stab-led groove and a haunting vocal. “Feel It” is dubby and sexy prime-time track. Seducing vocal cuts are joined by a
warm analogue lead line.

The EP also includes two stunning remixes by VRIL and Narciss.

Maruwa bows at the altar of ‘90s prog house and IDM. Classically trained as a pianist, the St. Petersburg born Frankfurt based artist has made it her mission to join the dots between big room rave and a decidedly off-planet approach to melody. Now, making a debut for X-Kalay, that journey continues...

‘Liquid Night’ genuinely sounds like something you might have heard during Love Parade’s golden era. Meshing noirish sci-fi atmosphere with trance synths and EBM flex, the shadowy territory it occupies also carries through to A2’s ‘Midnight Caller’. That said, the followup cut evokes an essence of ‘90s dancefloor utopia, balancing euphoric melodrama with tough, propulsive NRG.

Taking inspiration from mid-‘90s acid prog, ‘Tricky Question’ summons the divine wide-eyed and sublime – less urgent, but still imbued with that '90s halcyon daze. Rudolf C then rounds things off with a fathoms-deep remix. Ushering ’Tricky Question’ into that techy space he navigates so well, the Salt Mines co-founder provides his own spin without losing the essence of the original.

VLS08 highlights the welcome of Slovenian artist Tzena. Proud member of Luckison, he delivers a timeless four-tracker surfing between house and deep electro.

We welcome back Stockholm house stalwart Viggo Dyst for his second contribution to our Classic Cuts series: an uplifting cut of five melodic tracks, including a remix from SNF mainstay, Earth Trax.

Tech-house banger 'These Knits' kicks off proceedings, with cosmic undertones that imbue it with a sense of buoyancy and playfulness. On the flip, Earth Trax teases out the track's cooler elements, introducing a more definitive pulse and replacing the melody's warmth with a greater sense of unease: catch this one reverberating around a cavernous warehouse. 'Promises' maintains the driving propulsion, introducing an acid melody which lends it anthemic grandeur before the sultry whisper of cymbals and female vocals on the modest deep house track 'CAT' strip things right back. Finally, the ambient closer 'Bubble Wrap' pays testament to Viggo Dyst's musical ambidexterity and his capacity for creating atmosphere with a full-bodied soundscape and rich tonal depth.

Sleaford Mods have covered The Pet Shop Boys" iconic West End Girls, with proceeds from the single going to charity Shelter. If the original is a sophisticated exposé of the 80s Britain, the duo have skilfully distressed the shimmering classic with sharp synths and scuffed-up vocals to mirror our own dysfunctional days. Not only did the Nottingham duo"s West End Girls meet with Neil Tenant and Chris Lowe"s personal approval, but the pair were inspired to create a remix which features as a B-side.

E2-E8 continues to put new local talent under the spotlight. This time it's the Orphic duo, made up of Kieran Jandu and Babak Faraji.

Shelter EP is perhaps the release with the clearest, most identifiable sound that we've put out so far. ACSXD and Macoubea are firmly rooted in deep techno that wouldn't sound out of place on labels such as Delsin, Hypnus, or Semantica. Ména is geared for peak-time with its relentless beat and vocal snippets. Half Ten is angular, articulate and colourful.

If all this wasn't enough, Marco Shuttle steps in with an atmospheric, almost beatless remix of ACSXD which reminds us of some glorious Aphex Twin moments. We can't thank him enough for contributing with such a delightful piece.

Born in 1989, Daniele Tomassini aka Feel Fly, dj, producer, sound composer (he recently completed the soundtrack for the movie I
Santi by Giacomo Abbruzzese, awarded at the prestigious CineMed festival in Montpellier), co-founder of the Afro Templum party, already
known for his previous works for labels such as Prins Thomas’ Norwegian Internasjonal or the Ibizenca International Feel, lands on
Simona Faraone’s label, New Interplanetary Melodies, with his first EP, after having made his debut on the same label as remixer on
the EP signed by Leo Young (NIM005).

The entire EP is inspired by the ancient and mysterious Etruscan culture, whose peoples inhabited the historical-geographical region of
central Italy: all the tracks that compose it were in fact conceived under the cloister of MANU (National Archaeological Museum of Umbria) in Perugia.

The title track, Sacrificio (A1) opens the album with an ecstatic drum-break on which powerful subs stand out, catapulting you directly
into the obscure rituals of the haruspices, intent on interpreting the signs of the divine, with the help of mysterious pads and shimmering
synths like fires in the night.

Side A continues with Hypnopedia (A2), House music characterised by pressing rhythms and sharp rides that transport us into a dreamy
dimension, a nostalgic, evocative dream of worlds that now belong only to the sphere of memory. While in Aisna (A3), which closes the
first side, the atmosphere changes decidedly towards progressive house, a sound that has become topical again in recent years, after
having raged in the second half of the 90s in those lands that were once called Etruria. And just as the Aisna was an early morning ritual
held in a field or a sacred wood, this track has all the makings of a rave at the crack of dawn.

The B side starts on the same wavelength with which the first side closed, Afro Trance Amnesia (B1), in fact it maintains that feeling
with the most sweaty dancefloors thanks to its epic breaks and vaguely Trancey arrangements that rest on dragging and obsessive
percussions able to smash any kind of dancefloor. With Thi Rie (B2) the groove becomes decidedly more disco thanks to a rolling bass
line interspersed with powerful toms and full of suspense thanks to the skilful use of enigmatic pads.

Étoile Romance (B3) is the title of the beautiful piece of Ambient that closes this first EP by Feel Fly on NIM, 6 minutes and more of
dreamy arpeggios that fit perfectly into the groove of that Italian tradition of soundtracks and library music that has produced so many
masterpieces.

Fio Fa is back with another release exploring his finely tuned approach to effortlessly rolling, yet playful pumpers that have become characteristic of his sound. This time on his new imprint Sunset Drifters, the label launches with 4 devious dancefloor cuts that solidify his sonic relationship with the sounds of early dance music. Straightforward yet effective, the EP merges his many inspirations - the dynamic drums & flecks of acid in proto-house, the rolling basslines of progressive, and the mini melodies and synth stabs of EBM and early rave.

Sally C returns with her long-awaited second release on eponymous label Big Saldo's Chunkers.

Led by the cult favourite 'Let's Get This', Big Saldo's Chunkers 001 was a runaway success, demanding two represses, both of which sold out within a week. Former BBC Radio 1 legend Annie Mac was a key champion of the record, hosting Sally for a ‘Homage to Hip House’ Mini Mix dedicated to Black innovators such as Fast Eddie, K-Hand and Tyree who inspire her so much. When gigs returned in summer 2021, the EP received a second life with support from the likes of TSHA and Kevin Saunderson, among others.

BSC002 continues on the same straight-up chunky tip that has become her trademark. 'Give it to Me' pops on the A-Side. Emotional and euphoric in equal measures, it brings the Big Saxophone Energy across seven thrilling minutes, as Sally omits the bass giving the sax a chance to shine alongside her signature rolling percussion. Lock this one as a summer 2022 anthem.

A much-requested track I.D at gigs over the last year, 'Downtown' kicks off the B-Side and opens with a question: 'Do you wanna dance?' And of course, we desperately do. It’s the very embodiment of a Chunker with its cool vocal, banging bassline and rolling drums. This is the ultimate all-rounder, good for opening, closing and peak-time moments. 'Nasty' does exactly what it says on the tin and hits with slamming kicks, funky breaks and Saldo's own nastiest bassline on record.

Excitement has been building for this release since Sally included all tracks on her lauded RA podcast last summer. Additionally, all BSC002 cuts went down a dream at her Panorama Bar debut in October and were clear standouts of the set.

Forward thinking live music odyssey Anyma has become the latest addition to the Afterlife musical roster.

The brainchild of Tale Of Us’ Matteo Milleri, Anyma is an expedition into the outer realms of technology and sound, culminating with the release of debut album GENESYS later in the year.
A pioneering musical concept, Anyma is a self-generated consciousness, coding itself from data clouds and presenting its digital persona through art. The boundary-pushing, multidisciplinary phenomenon blends computer-generated environments with real-life, blurring the lines between physical and digital worlds through state-of-the-art technology, music production and design.
“Anyma is my creative self-expression, blending music, art and immersive realities to explore the next phase in the realm of consciousness,” Matteo Milleri explains. “Physical and digital creations merge to become a singular enlightening field of experience: Genesys” - he goes on to add.
The enigmatic journey begins with the debut EP ‘Sentient’, a dramatic four part soundscape that will set the tone for what’s to come from Anyma, out 4th June on Afterlife, with an NFT

dj poolboi is the moniker of Austin Texas' resident Adam Ansley. In 2017 Ansley started quietly releasing lo-fi house music as an artistic outlet on Youtube. Channelling his own struggles Ansley crafted a unique form of EDM – 'electronic depression music' creating emotional melodic songs mixing elation and nostalgia with melancholy.

Residing in the same vein as contemporaries Ross From Friends, DJ Boring, Mall Grab, Park Hye Jin and Dj Seinfeld while building on the experimental dance music of trailblazers such as Radiohead, Four Tet, Caribou and Jamie XX his music found its own niche and began to take flight online.

Newcomer Donnie Cosmo of Medellin, Colombia takes the helm for TSOL 005 with four spaced out nuggets. Donnie is a special story as he first appeared on the Limousine Dream sublabel Nug-Net after being selected as one of the winners from the Nug-Net course producer competition. Now he becomes the first to make the jump up to TSOL with a full EP.

Empirical Magnetism is back with a remix series of BLENT's "Drawn 2 U" EP (EM02) released in August 2018. On the occasion of EM02(BIS), Empirical Magnetism and Electron Libre Music Group are glad to introduce Luca Cazal & SLF to you, and to welcome back DJ W!LD, OID & Anrilov, Bypass on board.

For a few years a while ago, Robert James was one of the hottest names in house. He ushered in the post-minimal era with colourful, accessible sounds that brought some much needed life and charm back to the scene. After disappearing for a time he returned with his debut album in May and now some of it gets some top remixes. Slapfunk's Anil Aras pumps a nice cosmic house vibe, Kepler does his tight, high tempo work and Thoma Bulwer & Anna Wall combine their skills once more on a clipped, punchy tech house version of 'Planet 90.' Laidlaw lays out some electronic drum funk with a fine version of 'Infinity' to close.

Cupula Recordings' debut release from Adria and Pau Roses teams up with Quim and Vince Void to deliver three smash hits of organ progressive house with acid melodies and trance energy with a modern club punch.

The B-side follows up with an extraordinary trip from Yung Prado infusing John Heaven’s voice creating a beautiful hypnotic soundscape of Ciutat Bella. Arnau Obiols provides a massive acid version of Ciutat Bella accompanied by tribalistic patterns.

Following the revival of the iconic 1990s dance album series, Club Culture in 2020, Stress presents Club Culture Vol. 2. Much like in volume 1, the label continue to pay homage to the UK’s rich and diverse club culture with a collection of the scene’s freshest tracks.

To celebrate the return of the series, a limited edition vinyl sampler will be available which features five of the album’s most cutting edge selections, including exclusives from Richie Blacker, and Danny Howard. Stress brought the world many seminal house tracks in the 1990s including Bedrock’s ‘For You Dream Of’, Last Rhythm’s ‘Last Rhythm’, and Greed’s ‘Pump Up The Volume’. During the 1990’s, Stress was considered one of the world’s greatest independent record labels, where it became known for its growing influence on the progressive house scene. It gave birth to the early careers of iconic producers Sasha and John Digweed. Today it is carving out a whole new scene taking inspiration from the past but creating a whole new sound for the stable.

This is the sound of clubland and club culture.

The French crew La Boomerie is back with its second EP produced by Sunaas. Deep dive into its musical Spectrum, produced with Birkenstock on feet and cat on knees for dancefloor and sofa purposes.

Welcoming Ukrainian artist The Organism to the TAU family with this delightful EP. Roman Yarmolenko began his career back in 1999 as DJ Alfred, and made quite a name for himself. But he made a conscious shift into the underground in 2013, finding more satisfaction and joy in pro- ducing music that didn’t fit into mainstream ideals. Over the years since he has established himself as a formidable producer, landing releases with labels such as Diynamic and Disco Halal. Agents Of Time return to Afterlife with two heartrending audio expeditions.

Italian act Agents Of Time have established a sterling reputation over the years. Their mesmerising approach to club music blends emotive melodies and transcendent rhythms, with dance floor-centred beats.

The Mirage EP begins with its title cut; enveloping the listener is a swathe of atmospheric synth and pad work from the off. Oscillating frequencies complement the sultry rhythms while a life-affirming riff forms the stirring centrepiece. On the flip ‘Northern Lights’ is a sensitive, emotive composition which gradually increases its emotional impact as it builds and evolves.

Rising star Innellea demonstrates his prowess with four diverse, powerful cuts. In a short time Innellea has made a significant impact.

His production is inventive and progressive, gracing dance floors with emotional depth, considered arrangement and pumping rhythms. His debut EP opens with ‘Confronted Reality’, which is driven by an
oscillating low end, complemented by an emotive melody and a huge riff - tinged with drama throughout.

Next up it’s the title track, a morose cut that utilises breakbeat-esque
rhythms, piano keys and warped vocals. On the flip The Loss Of Hope’ features beautifully composed, trance-esque layers drift over a driving rhythm - lifting spirits and invoking the Heaven within. Finally, ‘Irreversible’ takes us into the darkness, with spinetingling melodies and hard-hitting drums ...

Rising Welsh producer // DJ Harrison BDP has been making some serious noise as of late, with a string of stand out releases on Phonica, Berg Audio & Lost Palms. This time making his debut on Shall Not Fade with some of his most weighty productions to date. ‘Sound Expansion Meditation’ takes the listener on a voyage of discovery with spacey synths, dusty drum sequences and floating bass riffs.

In between the striking synth jabs and arcane vocals of Back to Life, Rittik Wystup spins a net of sharp, crackly drums and fondle, almost trickling piano tones. His elation to combining electronic and acoustic spaces is mirrored throughout the rework, echoing his own unique sound note by note.

Last but not least, we are very delighted to have the german powerduo Extrawelt on the remix duties. The Cluster Buster version takes the original on a dark and imposing journey of huge 808s, raw synths and celestial widescreen pads. Turning it into a sturdy yet cinematic beast of an electro tune. While the Laser Blazer Remix takes things to a whole new level. Ever since Extrawelt started playing this version in their live sets, people have been going absolutely nuts! As the title already suggests, an absolute highlight and surely one for the books!

London producer Scott Ferguson, aka Robot84, continues his superlative run through 80s speckled gear on his own label. This time he's cooked up a killer slice of proto house with an Afro vocal boost from TAMA. From the slick reverse edits to the warm thrum of the bassline, the classic drum machines patter to the spangled arps, this is feel good business rendered with reverence and love for the roots of dance music as we know it today. Stick on the A side for the vocal version, flip it over for the dub, or better still bag two copies and get creative in the mix.

The Magic Movement marks its twenty-fifth release this May with Coss & Luca Musto's 'Remind Me Tomorrow' EP, comprised of three originals from the Berlin-based pair and a remix from label boss Noema.

Coss has been a mainstay at Berlin's Kater Blau club for some time now and just recently delivered an EP on the club's in-house imprint Kiosk ID as well as an EP for his own metanoia.
Italian rooted but Germany-based Luca Musto returns to the Magic Movement here following his 2018 'Parabel' EP and has since gone on to release further material with Cologne's Feines Tier and Laut & Luise in recent years.

Here joining forces with the 'Remind Me Tomorrow' EP the two artists deliver more of their distinctive tripped-out, dropped tempo club sound.
'Broken Promises' leads the way via dreamy dubbed out textures, gnarly bass tones, twinkling chimes and airy arpeggios atop a bumpy drum groove.
Title cut 'Remind Me Tomorrow' follows and brings modulating resonant synth lines into the forefront alongside elongated subs, cinematic pads, and circling sequences while Luca also stirs in his own rap/spoken word hip house style vocals.

The third original 'Concept Zero' follows next and lays down psychedelic guitars, choppy stabs, murky bass swells and dynamic delays before Noema rounds out the release with his take on 'Remind Me Tomorrow', flipping the switch to raw, crunchy drums and spoken word vocal chants amongst the original's chuggy arps and dreamy melodic elements.

Following a string of acclaimed releases in 2021 ONO Records is pleased to welcome homegrown hero Guy Contact for ONO002. The prolific producer presents a collection of masterful house music that hearkens back to a bygone era whilst remaining utterly contemporary.

"1959" is a concept album dedicated to my father. The main theme is based on my particular perception of travel and movement, which are both narrated with similar and different electronic sounds at the same time. The double vinyl edition is divided into 4 sides entitled "Moon", "Flight", "Space" and "Land". The vocals of some tracks, such as "The Aircraft", were made with fragments of vocal announcements recorded in the airports during my tours. The plane, already featured on the cover of the single "Lux", is interpreted as a mysterious vehicle that travels in space-time. The album cover instead portrays my father's motorcycle, as if it were suspended in the sky during the transition from night to day, which in this case symbolizes the transition from the noise of earthly life to the stillness of eternity. In this new work of mine I found my Synth-pop, Electro and Ambient influences, combined with rhythms that lend themselves well both to listening and to the dance floor. Enjoy it!

Stemming form the Saurus in NY Ep released in 1994, Sex Line is getting its own well deserved release and make over. The new EP contains the original mix re- mastered and a new mix made in 2020. Side B “I feel myself” previously unreleased (new recordings) was written while working on the original Sex Line project but did not make it in the original release by Muzak.

Back in 2015, Mancunian DJ and Producer Hidden Spheres aka Tom Harris joined the Rhythm Section family for our twelfth release. Storming into 2022 and approaching 50 releases Tom has a long overdue return to the label with a synthesis of electronic house vibrations.

‘You Are Not Your Body’ is a stellar collection of five tracks, which touch on the sensations of euphoria and the blissed-out intersection between early prog and Detroit House. Channeling energies for
meditation and self love, things kick off with ‘Improvisation’ an electro infused eight minute workout, whilst ‘Euan 92’ is a festival-defining ‘hands-in-the-air’ anthem tried and tested by Bradley Zero on the road throughout 2021.

Acclaimed Japanese-American producer Qrion proudly announces her debut album 'I Hope It Lasts Forever', out via Anjunadeep.

The album announcement comes alongside the release of the electric first single 'Your Love', out now. Qrion, real name Momiji Tsukada, wrote 'I Hope It Lasts Forever' primarily during the lockdown in San Francisco. 'I Hope It Lasts Forever' invokes the emotions Tsukada felt during her adventurous move from hometown Sapporo to sunny San Francisco and pays homage to Tsukada's memories of her childhood and her dad. As such, the album presents a versatile collection of electronica and club tracks, with introspective cuts like 'It's All Over' and 'Maybe It Was Already Here' appearing alongside lively club anthems such as '11-11' and 'Proud'. The album also notably features collaborations with talented British musician Flownn, Canadian vocalist and composer Kroy, and California's Mars Kasei. Speaking on the record, Tsukada highlighted the importance of nostalgia in its creation: "I connected with my old memories - the feelings of spending time with my dad, the time I lived with my family in Japan, and the small but important moments of my life from my time in Sapporo. The creative process of this album helped me to mentally connect the dots of my memories through life. Some of which I had forgotten about until I sat down and started reminiscing while working on the music. I feel music often creates a bridge to access memorable parts of our lives and in this sense 'I Hope It Lasts Forever' is a very personal and special album to me. My hope is that my music and this album will also become part of other people's memories - something that people can carry with them into the future." The first single off the album, 'Your Love', features Qrion's characteristic pulsating bass alongside staccato plucks that makes one nostalgic for summer days. The track joins Tsukada's acclaimed catalogue that has seen support by the likes of Danny Howard at BBC Radio 1 and Jason Bentley at KCRW, as well as prolific producers such as TSHA, Moon Boots, Lane 8, The Aston Shuffle, 3LAU, and Gorgon City. Maceo Plex teams up with Gabriel Ananda to deliver the momentous 'Solitary Daze'. An awe-inspiring piece of music; Maceo and Gabriel have pulled out all the stops in creating this anthemic masterpiece. A sure fire dancefloor destroyer! The original is also deftly remixed by Barnt and by North Lake.

The A Side features North Lake’s infectious deeper remix whilst the flip features Barnt’s epic revision of the original. Both of which create fantastic versions of the original version, taking it off into new stratospheres. Another great single from Ellum, who seem to be going from strength to strength.

Philip Lawn is an Italian music producer, co-founder of Turbokitchen, releasing on labels such as Motek and My Favorite Robot Recordings.

In his debut EP as solo artist for Thisbe Recordings, “Ten Years of Travel”, he tells the tale of the Odyssey and his protagonist Ulysses through the use of machines (such as Nord Lead 4, Roland SPD-30, Behringer TD -3, Yamaha Reface CS & Moog sub 37) and hot grooves. Out of his secret garden, a perfect acoustically isolated walk-in closet, “Ten Years of Travel” was born. Particular to the structure of the EP is that each track has its own remix.

With a rework of “Distorted View”, Days of Being Wild deliver a dark disco classic, true to their idiosyncratic sound and original beats, mesmerizing the dancefloor straight away. Traveller and cosmic poet Pyrame rework of the single “Start” first feels like rain dropping before the storm comes and reveals an euphoric feeling as the break starts. Romain FX nails a fine remix of Ten Years of Travel, the main single of Philip Lawns´EP. His remix is a pure italo disco rework of the original, infused with pop synths and keys, that won´t leave anyone still and quiet. Banger.

Back to the Various Artists format for Nuances de Nuit, this time with Man/ipulate, Yamen & EDA, Midge Thompson and Cosmic JD.

In addition to having quite possibly the greatest beard in techno, Will Clarke has proven himself an unstoppable force in the genre. Will now returns to Factory 93 for his second release on the label, “Mirage.”

Will prompted a firestorm of “ID?” requests when he dropped it in his live-streamed Escape Halloween set last fall, and for good reason. “Mirage” brings together ferocious, chugging low-end and an instantly-memorable melody that modulates constantly throughout the arrangement, fine-tuning the energy to create an absolute bomb of a track.

“Mirage” will also mark Factory 93’s first vinyl release, with his first Factory 93 outing “Sometimes You Gotta Let It Go” gracing the B-side. Look out for it in a shop near you.

Born and raised in Seoul, Didi Han's passion for the arts began in high school.

During her time at university, where she majored in art and textile design, Didi worked as a designer. Didi Han first began blurring the lines between the arts of fashion and music after working as a music director for fashion shows and selecting music during fashion week. It wasn't long after that, that Didi went to DJ academy to learn how to DJ, inspired by a performance from Nicolas Jaar.

After her success as a member of the "Deluxe Seoul” collective, with whom she played at multiple popular venues across Korea, Didi Han was asked to perform for the world-famous Boiler Room platform on two separate occasions, and later toured across Europe and Asia. While active as a DJ, Didi Han discovered a desire to create her own music. Her 2019 release Forest gave her fans a glimpse of exciting production activities to come, featuring a low-fi texture and the sound of a flugelhorn.

Wake Up is the first project from Didi Han on french label Roche Musique. The 5 track EP was completed after the Seoul based-producer's trip to Bali in 2020. Inspiration from the sounds heard and the experiences had in the warm sunlight and emerald ocean, are what influenced the chill house tracks. Here, Didi Han introduces a mellow and melodic debut-EP which features a lots of percussion. Wake Up mixes elements of hip hop, jazz and house, and features collaborations with established artists such as Wansun Kim, Lydia Lee, Nelick and fellow Korean producer, L-like.

Already keen on Roche Musique musical identity, she quite naturally decided to release her first project under the French label.

“We first met in 2018 while Roche Musique was touring in South Korea, we instantly matched around our vision of the club scene : fresh, bold and spontaneous! In 3 years we had time to build a genuine relationship.”

In 2021 during the coronavirus pandemic, Gene On Earth created his production masterclass “Nuggets: The Blueprint”. This is the second part of a collection of works submitted by students shortly after finishing the course. Nug-Net will continue to be a home for music written by course students.

A subconscious inhale of precious tranquillity, Step No.4 hosts a rare and sentimental collaboration between Roza Terenzi and Australian virtuosic enigma jd. An intrinsic connection of friendship, understanding and mutual exchange of instinctive musical roots in the form of EP Third Nature. Divided by different continents, live recordings from a studio in Melbourne have been sent via cyberspace and sculpted into four genre expansive explorations, from new-age junkyard to devious dnb.

Textural research is extensively carried out through the records A side; polyrhythms galore as hand drums collide with shimmered shakers; forming tripped out tessellations. A leftfield nod to Madonna drools below the opening track, an anchor for mind-wandering timbre and chordal bliss, glorious saxophone trickles throughout an uplifting swell of suspended melodics. Constant evolution as things progress to a downtempo subterranean soundscape, A2 dropping deeper into pulsating bass, ricochets of drum cuts flickering in and out to haze out rhythmic stagnation yet maintain a complex flow. In contrast, the B side speeds soar, firstly a dreamy, steamy progressive peak timer; playful in nature yet packing a punch. The closer showcasing a sexy sinister side, dark drum and bass where pitched gongs hover and drip, rough and ready bass growls and breaks are sliced and diced with Michelin quality.

This highly anticipated pairing proves a contemporary form of analog/electric hybrid collaboration; an endless portal into groundbreakingly tweaked visions and the mergings of minds.

Butter Sessionsbestows the subsequent postscript toGuy Contact's2019 releaseLiminal Spacewith the Perth-based producers first long-player,Drinking from the Mirage. The record lines up eight enchanting configurations, with two digi bonus tracks. The compositions were recorded over the last couple of years in his bedroom studio. He explains, "most of them were recorded in the second half of 2020. I had just quit my full-time job and found myself with much more time and energy to be creative, the majority of the songs came to life during this period." The album's collection paints warm dreamscapes and expansive textures, an affirmation ofGuy Contactfurther refining his craft. He treads effortlessly between acid-stained techno, dreamy braindance and trancelike downtempo that acutely grip the neural network.

The LP takes off with it's anchor90 Mile Straight (Nullarbor Mix),a rhythm driven cruiser that sets the tone for the record. Hoshina Anniversary returns to MUSAR Recordings under a new cloak, Shifting Gears.

Toyko's Hoshina Anniversary has risen to particular prominence in recent years with his self-titled brand of 'Watechno'. Stylistically fusing traditional Japanese instrumentation with Chicago and Detroit sensibilities, his works have found homes on ESP Institute, Young Marco's Safe Trip and Amsterdam-based MUSAR Recordings.

Landing on the latter, MUSAR, little over a year ago with 'Zangai' EP, Hoshina returns under a new cloak, Shifting Gears, to present 'Evil' EP.

Named after the 1975 'Gears' LP of jazz and hard bop organist, Johnny Hammond, the Shifting Gears moniker focuses heavily on principles of Jazz and raw musicianship, with a continued exploration of machine-reared club sounds. How the two can take shape as one.

Across 'Evil' EP, Hoshina's native culture remains, as heard on 'Miyatsukomaro', where traditional Japanese strings harmonise with crisp hats and jazz keys. Inspired by the early works of keyboardist and composer, Bob James, all is underpinned by intrinsic Chicago synth work.

A recurrent theme throughout, the Chicago vibe most notably takes hold on title track 'Evil'. An insidious
march, the floor-pummeling kick and shoulder-tickling toms marry seamlessly with dracula-esque chords and dizzying piano arrangements. Nodding to the mischievous bassist Jaco Pastorius of jazz fusion band, Weather Report.

Informed by the pacey creations of a revered duo, The Brecker Brothers and the 70's rock music that soundtracked Hoshina's youth, opener, 'Senor Senorita' wraps swathing reverb around a raucous melody and jiving percussion. Meanwhile, the seedy 'Syndicate' closes out amid eerie synth sneers and quirky, funk-flecked modulations.

Following his latest contribution to Innervisions Limbo compilation and a personal EP on TAU, Skatman returns to his home of Scatcity Records.

This release defines Skatman's current artistic direction as well as his vision for the future of his label and the melodic scene. We see him bring his sound forward as a more minimalistic approach to the deep and melodic sounds that have shaped him over the years.

Skatman’s mission is to bring back the integrity to the sound he loves, taking it to a new level and triggering a change of direction within the niche that is melodic electronic music. The name ‘Aromanticism’ is a reference to the revolutionary aspect of the realism movement that happened as a reaction to what dominated art and literature in the age of romanticism in the 19th century.

Dylan Forbes is a man of sustained grooves. But for the next release on Haŵs, the Irish DJ producer deviates slightly from the sounds of his previous back-catalogue to investigate the idea of collective ideals from the solitary walls of his lockdown studio back in 2020. The resulting output is ‘Mind Expander’, an idiomatic release of club-orientated house and tech tracks marbled with introspection and the hopeful craving for dancefloor unity.

The opening ‘Ride The Flange’ jumpstarts the engine with an emphatic house beat, sitting beneath swathes of misty synth lines that trip over each other in their eagerness to peer into the void beyond. ‘Mind Expander’ takes the pH back to 1, with acidic iterations, delicate chimes and a protracted build up that yields a sense of broadening thoughts and augmented senses.

On the B-side, ‘Searching’ slots together gruff, probing basslines beside melodic contours that seem to dance together with a subtle rapport like two figures treading the verge between companionship and intimacy. ‘Take U Over’ intensifies the euphoria for the close, assembling a prog-inspired motley crew of synths, reverbed soul vocals and breaks to gently charm the traveller back down from the 4-track ride.

Panorama EP could be considered Erta Ale’s personal homage to the early 90's progressive house . Repetitive patterns, infectious bass lines and emotional chord progressions cooked together with precise rhythmical structures as well as featuring short vocal loops and acid lines typical for that time. The intention from Erta is to bring the crowd back in time and far from intellectualism and negative trips, in a place and time where dancing, dreaming and positive feelings were always present on the dance floor. B2 - closing out the record Matteo. brings us a groover filled with warm acid stabs backed up by the baseline to keep you locked, complimented by the dreamy pads and a clear old school feel, it’s the type of track that could slot in anywhere.

As his label marks it's 60th release, Lost & Found owner Guy J returns with his brand new EP. Guy's modus operandi performs superbly with themes which would otherwise risk sounding aimless and decadent. His range is thrilling, thoughtfully arranged even in the thickest of textures, never heartless, blunt or unbalanced. Both in his harmonious and production statements, Guy J leaves nothing indisputable. Each frequency is analyzed. Each note adjusted.

Following his previous excursion Patterns EP, Colyn returns to Afterlife with more interplanetary sonics.

The title cut merges a rubbery low end groove with a cacophony of cosmic FX and a robotic vocal clip. ‘Wait For You’ feels like a cybernetic ode to lost love, with a stirring melody and heartrending arrangement. ‘KL427’ and ‘Lightyears’ are a little more pensive, blending emotive composition and compelling rhythms to tantalise your body and mind.

Moments are not just a series of events but also the music label and the brainchild of Guy Mantzur. So far, all of the releases by the record company have been mind-expanding and eye-opening. Attention to detail keeps the A&R in a constant search for the next big thing, drawing attention to the artists playing at the events. The new two- track material hardly comes as a surprise. It is always great to have Guy J behind the decks, and when it comes to his jaw-dropping audio production, he's in a league of his own. The River is a piece that opens the release, and Guy J joins forces with Astrix in building a new visionary sound. Many producers reach the point where they have too many great tracks to fit into a live set. Astrix reached that peak twenty years ago. And then he just kept producing with even more passion. Famous for his eruptive trance production and praised by critics and fans, Astrix delivers an extra dose of psychedelia, stretching the borders of genre classification. The closing track, Tree of Life, is a solo piece by Guy J, displaying his latest studio techniques. However, the material is far more than just an ear candy for the audiophile nation. The nine-minute arrangement skillfully takes the listener into the unknown, exposing the deep emotional power along the way.

There is a culturally and perhaps spiritually bonded link between electronic dance music and what could be called most generally ‘the feminine divine’. In subgenres more oriented to trance and EDM, the vocal sample or progression is almost always uttered by a woman, unlike the variously-sexed divas of house; if divinity is invoked, it is less often a biblical God than some Gaia-derivative. Radiant Love’s fifth release, Goddess Within by the Montreal-based producer Maara, steps into this lineage stretching from Magna Mater to disco queen – Maara’s articulation of the feminine divine, however, is often off-hand, ringing at once sincere and deeply cheeky.

The double-side is summed up by the first track’s title, 'Goddess Within (Give It To Me Daddy)', which starts right off with a pumping bassline, carbonated synths, and a repeating sample speaking ‘goddess’ – what trance dreams are made of. What places these tracks especially in the realm of dream are Maara’s washes of delay, reverb and pan, drawing out melodies and textures into trails, clouds, blurs. The sonic fields are decentered, but driving and floor-ready regardless. 'Mommy’s In Trouble' follows up with a set of cleverly phased hi-hats and a swung kick drum. It’s a buildup we’re hearing, although one wouldn’t know until a sample asks us matter of factly, ‘Notice what you’re feeling. Are you calm?’ and the bass swings back in.

The B-side begins softer, with the wide pads of 'Plum Plum Paradise' eventually dropping into a downtempo break. The percussion is muted, and what gives the track its body is a shifting terrain of sample (‘Allow yourself inside, the time and space right now’), gurgling synth note, windchime and whisper. Goddess Within’s final track, 'Lezzies In A Jacuzzi' picks up the pace again, with a porny bass-throb, insistent hi-hats and a vocal fragment looping the word ‘amor’. This is exactly the kind of sound that would have me thinking on the dancefloor, Is she actually saying ‘amor’? Quickly I would reach the decision that it didn’t matter – the whole terrain of the actual, the explicit and undreamed is best left to masculinity anyways.

Distinguished Utrecht-based duo Tinlicker (Micha Heyboer and Jordi van Achthoven) have revealed that their forthcoming album ‘In Another Lifetime’ is out spring 2022 via independent record label Anjunadeep. Written during lockdown, ‘In Another Lifteime’ was heavily influenced by Tinlicker’s experience of the past two years. Reflecting on the album name, the duo explain; “These last two years saw the creation of a parallel universe in which human beings had to reinvent themselves whether they wanted to or not. We experienced a lot of lows in this process, but also beautiful highs - in some moments it felt like everything was about to slip through our fingers, while other days the process brought a lot of peace. For us, the title ‘In Another Lifetime’ captures this journey.” Featuring eleven previously unheard tracks and an ensemble of vocalists, ‘In Another Lifetime’ reflects this dichotomy of highs and lows. Whilst invoking the familiar Tinlicker sound of powerful progressive house, the album also explores tangential styles of electronica, deep house, and melodic techno. Tracks such as ‘Always Will’ featuring Nathan Nicholson and ‘You Take My Hand’ featuring Jamie Irrepressible are characteristic of the duo; masterful compositions of fervently driving percussion, considered synth design, and hypnotic vocals that make for darker, memorable club anthems. Other tracks, such as ‘I Am Free’ and instrumentals such as ‘Healing Forest’ and ‘Just To Hear You Say’ convey a less conventional approach from the duo, where they favour breakbeat arrangements and brighter melodic elements. The end result is an album that reflects Tinlicker’s artistic and personal growth. Champions of forward-thinking sound design and dynamic songwriting, Tinlicker members Micha Heyboer and Jordi van Achthoven combined their storied musical backgrounds in 2013. Quickly it became clear that Jordi’s polished pop and house production was a consummate match for Micha’s deep sonic palette - a quality he honed as a member of drum and bass group Black Sun Empire. Tinlicker released their first studio album ‘This Is Not Our Universe’ in 2019 via Anjunabeats..

In 2021 during the coronavirus pandemic, Gene On Earth created his production masterclass “Nuggets: The Blueprint”. This is the first part of a collection of works submitted by students shortly after finishing the course. Nug-Net will continue to be a home for music written by course students.

Savy Records welcomes rising talent Slak to their roster with the multifaceted 4-track EP 'Trilogy of Reasons', the third issue from the innovative and fast-growing label. The Berlin-based Italian producer's 90s' influences shine in opener 'I See The Light', a jubilant acid techno bomb built on groovy 909 patterns, deep Detroit-influenced chords and a hypnotic 303 riff. The more esoteric 'Confusion' throws out plenty of hooks via arpeggiated synth lines and warm distorted kick drums, while 'Reasons' delivers a slow-building dystopian energy - full of slamming breakbeats and euphoric pads, it's perfect for warming up a dance floor. Rounding up this bright, energetic and atmospheric EP is a remix from another Berlin-based artist, Adlas, that weaves together playful futuristic rhythms guaranteed to take you far into another dimension.

With its 3rd release on the ERROR100 Series, System Error showcases Italian producer Otis, who delicately produced 5 club orientated tracks pulling influences from acid to trance, yet preserving a strong sBerlin based label System Error ignite their 2021 with further mind stretching material, this time they call on Otis to take on the role of master of operations. The “Cocoon Of Fantasies & Illusions” EP meanders across five tracks, touching on refined strains of techno, electro and breaks built for the rave.

“Taking Control” is built to take command of a club space, all of the elements working in harmony, to make a well rounded intergalactic trip. Straight Electro flow in “Just A Game” laden with acid squelches, the title of the track rocking back and forth via a mysterious vocal sample, a sense of nostalgia with elements from the past.

Opening the B side is “Inborn Archetype”, a chunky affair, jam packed with action. Huge drums ground the track as emphatic driving synths, and pads take the track to another level, ready to go to war. Riding an elastic sub heavy bass line is “Anima”, playful and curious. “Wreaks Havoc” is built around distinctive 90s breaks energy, with acid tones ricocheting from every surface. The shortest of the tracks but certainly packs a punch.

The Deep, was the alias Matt Frost and Pete Diggens recorded under from 1993-1996.



Frost and Diggens released a stream of vinyl on own imprint Violent Drum and finished when Matt and Pete were discovered by Andrew Weatherall at Sabresonic which led them to sign to Leftfield’s Hard Hands label in 1997 as Dark Globe.



‘Silver Surfer’, ‘X O Surf’ and the ‘X O Surf remixes’ were created over a series of weekends in ’93. When you listen to the record you can hear Frost and Diggens try to create the sound of waves amongst the beats, they were also influenced by tracks like Pink Floyd’s 20-minute epic ‘Echoes’.



Pete Diggens: “With Silver Surfer, the idea was to create a dance floor tribute to our favourite childhood Marvel super hero. We decided to create a suite of epic tracks on the surfing theme, Silver Surfer involved us bringing in an African friend who was a talented percussionist to play conga’s. He came along with his Brazilian girlfriend and we asked her to record some vocals whilst she was in the studio.”





Violent Drum’s output connected with dance music lovers worldwide, tracks made it onto compilation albums, featured in the charts and sets of the top DJ’s from all over the world. DJ’s such as Colin Dale, Ninja Tune’s Matt Black, Joey Beltram, Billy Nasty, Fabio Paras, Leftfield, Dave Angel, Darren Emerson, Carl Cox, DJ Three, Sasha & Digweed, Terry Farley and the man everyone looked to at the time, Mr. Andrew Weatherall regularly played Violent Drum vinyl.



Original vinyl copies can still be found on the second-hand market, for a hefty price. The duo regularly receive requests from fans around the world to find spare vinyl copies of ‘Silver Surfer’, ‘X O Surf’ (featured on an R&S compilation), ‘Your Nemesis’ and ‘Mondo Scuro’ (cited by many as the first ever ‘Breaks’ record pioneering the genre). Unfortunately, stocks of these ran out years ago and current labels regularly request to re-issue the tracks.

Barcelona-based DJ, crate digger and producer Lis Sarroca makes her debut on Shall Not Fade's coloured vinyl series marking the tenth release on the imprint.

Taking influence from her extensive travels - before lockdown hit - Sarroca mixes classy 90s house rhythms with standout melodies. No Wait EP follows on from her 2020 release on Hot Haus Records. Sarroca describes her music as "danceable, energetic, deep and warm", an ethos reflected throughout this EP. Despite dabbling in variations on dance music, stripped back disco to punchy tech house rhythms, this record is accomplished and consistent, coming together to deliver memories of sweaty summer club nights. "No. Wait" references French filter house, pairing a chugging bass and booming kick drum with sparkly disco keys into one very sultry track.

In "La Neta" Sarocca turns her attention to electro with the squelching bassline and drum machine loops but uplifting chords bring it back to house roots. There's a little bit of Kraftwerk in "Round & Round", a hypnotic pulsing track with synths of a distinctly German sound palette; it's the darkest moment on the record.

The B-side is expansive feel-good house, "Hi Montana" plays with dramatic strings while "Get This Right" is a certified summer anthem of sharp chord stabs and clean bassline made for the beer garden. No Wait closes with "AX", a piece of fun cowbell-smattered organ house.

Vinyl's advantages surpass its sound, embodying the record as a focus of the audio-visual enjoyment which makes this a musthave for fans of deep techno, hypnotic house and ambient electronica. From the opening sounds of "Beast Of Sea", it's evident that something remarkable is happening. Guy exposes an amazing rhythm patterns, trance-inducing ambience and rich audio palette in"Catfish", which progressively ascends into an ecstatic culmination. "MDQ is named after the airport code of Mar Del Plata in Argentina," says Guy. "I played there with John Digweed earlier this year at MUTE. It's a party on the beach and, for me, was the best I've been to in my life and not just as a DJ." MDQ beautifully recreates and projects the warmth of the sun, uplifting vibes and postive energy that Guy felt on the sand that day. Its melodic charm and passionate delivery lifts the listener, transporting them to that most southern of shores.
Diagonal, on the flip, was born more out of necessity. "I needed something with a transitional feel for my sets. A track that would allow me to segue to the next part, up the tempo and deliver a more groovy and seductive magic." Another delicious brace from the Lost & Found boss and a perfect selection to soundtrack the new year.

The producer's third EP for Innversions following 2019’s releases ‘Fool’ and ‘Karma Baby’, Jimi Jules refers to the first surviving animal sent into space for his latest EP “Ham The Monkey”. With a speed of 4,500 km/h, the four year old monkey “Ham” was the first living being fired into the atmosphere. A journey against his will. Shocked by the essence of ‘macabre’, Jules reflects the feelings and sounds felt from being trapped and out of control throughout the tracks - notably in “Grumpy Monkey” and “Tinnitus".

Albums often try to evoke a time and place, few manage to do that with such startling effect as the unlikely collaboration, Leave the Bones, between the multi-generational Haitian band Lakou Mizik, and Grammy-winning electronic music artist Joseph Ray. “Haiti'' is a word that conjures up a lot of images, it is a country judged by many, most of whom have never set foot on its shores. But its history is rich, its people proud and defiant, and nowhere is that more evident than in its music. Culture is what defines the country - its drums and Vaksins (traditional horns) are symbols of freedom and pride, liberty and struggle, and represent the escapist joy of dancing. Leave the Bones paints a musical portrait, a fresh glimpse of an oft misrepresented country, that through Vodou chants, chest-pounding Rara dance tunes and contemporary protest songs, conveys the listener to Haiti’s spiritual heart, a place that remains a compelling mystery for foreigners and a source of pride for every Haitian.

Tripped-out, leisurely house and breaks comprises the next drop on Haŵs, and for the established Welsh imprint, number 13 is far from unlucky – in fact, it’s coming in as ecstatic. Perth producer Guy Contact takes the reigns for ‘Euphoria Simulator’, a 6-track EP radiating with all the charm and optimism of a liberated future.

Opening the first of four house tracks, ‘Into The Blue’ makes light work of bass melodies and fresh kicks, bouncing skywards as though emerging from a thinning fog into a clear day. ‘Nice 2 B Free’ is imbued with touches of sentimentality, pouring outwards like the laissez-faire movements of a serene dancer entwined within a group of friends. The eccentric ‘Whip Crack Cowboy’ takes the camaraderie of country twang into a colourful new world, mediating psychedelic guitar strings into harmony with synths and a cathartic house beat.

On the B-side, the titular ‘Euphoria Simulator’ doubles down on the bass but keeps its overall ride light and airy, dipping between piano, synths and rhythms warm enough to breathe emotion into a cold room. The final two tracks untether from their house confines: ‘Amphibian Pool’ dubs down into a hypnotic, marine-level drift, elongating croaky basslines alongside punchy breaks and acid lines during its descent. Finally, ‘Subaquatic Jungle’ hits the ocean floor, discovering an enigmatic world alive with a fauna of percussion and distortions that slope through dense, bassy undercurrents.

For anyone looking to impart a kaleidoscope of blissful feelings onto dancefloors, ‘Euphoria Simulator’ sits patiently ready to heighten the senses.
