After a very promising debut almost an year ago with their "Super Quartet EP", Nas1 are backon Bosconi Extra Virgin with another 6 tracker of modern detroit influenced house. The record starts with the wobbling shuffles of 2 bass heavy cuts, the robotic melancholy of "Head On" and the funkier-ecstatic "Bravo Café", while on the closing cut of A side appears the stomping garage beat of "La Tosse". The talented duo from Bologna then shows its great technical skills within creating unique grooves: nastier vibes those look like coming from a dirty and dark basement open B side with the dusty, dubby and whirling jam of Rabbit Backbone, while with the following "Seemed" track they keep the mood in the same hypno-delic direction just making everything sweeterand smoother in order to end in a proper way this vinyl with the soulful and joyful downbeat of Seduta. Italian dOCG modern soul!

Fabio Della Torre's Bosconi Records is back with another release by homegrown artist Rufus featured this time by a remix from the now established talent from the Bosconi nursey Herva.Just an year after his latest "Black & Blues EP" released on sister label Extra Virgin, the Florentine but Berlin based producer this time delivers on the main offshoot some tougher and more sophisticated sound textures, quite different comparing to his previous works, within his new "Stranger In Paradise" 5 tracker vinyl: A side begins with the hypnotic and rolling funky breaks of "Stranger Than Paradise", a dreamy and ethereal banger delighted by a heavenly melody floating all along the track.The second cut consists in definitively more outrageous, psychedelic, infernal atmosphere, intermixed by horny and thoughtful whispering vocals which characterizes the afro-tech funk groover and indecently named track "Slave Of Pussy".On the flip side instead Rufus goes deeper and weird with high filtered grooves and wonky bass lines within the sneaky jam of "A Mirage" , getting then slightly more classic deep-styled on B2 with the gentle laid-back mood of "Sleepy Song". We are finally happy to end this release with the return of another homegrown Bosconi artist, recently releasing also for labels such Planet Mu and Delsin, which is Herva, who drops a not conventional but extremely forward thinking ethno-idmish/broken-beat re-interpretation of Rufus original "Stranger Than Paradise".

The label say: "It's been 6 years since Danilo Plessow aka Motor City Drum Ensemble first emerged on the scene with his debut 12inch released on his own MCDE Recordings imprint. Appropriately titled "Raw Cuts", the two tracks would start a series of raw house jams Danilo made in his studio using old school samplers and drum machines, a sound that at the time was far away from being status quo. Having been heavily influenced by Soul, Jazz, House and Techno emerging from both the Motor City and beyond, Danilo found his signature sound: sample-based, raw, emotional and mature tracks.

MCDE released two more "Raw Cuts" twelve inches in the coming years and it wouldn't be wrong to call them modern house classics - each of the records found support from all over the globe, from Moodymann to Gilles Peterson, and especially the last record of the series (Raw Cuts #5 & #6) was just everywhere in the year 2010.

What better way to end a concept series than to invite some people to remix those tracks People that inspired him to do this music in the first place: Marcellus Pittman of 3 Chairs fame, Mike Huckaby, one of Detroit`s house heroes and synth nerd per excellence, and lastly Recloose, whose unique approach to the Detroit sound has been a favorite of Danilo for years.

We have been really impressed by his releases on Dockside & Hizou, his music expresses perfectly our= essential vision of dark subtle and Intimate afterhour- like club sound with his edgy elegant and minimalistic approach over a raw and gritty sound recording, and especially our meaning of "groove", the whole enriched by his aquatic and unmissable original touch. It has been hard to make a decision over the wide selection of tracks from this ultra prolific producer who has actually a long history and background into the detroit techno scene, collaborating in the past for such labels as Transmat and managing the Buy Rite Records shop. What you'll find here it's basically what truly sounded to us as tough and timeless: the EP starts with the rollin funky blues of Kreatorz, while the second cut of A side is taken by the detroit driving trippy tool of Quincee; on the B side instead you'll find the techier dirty and hypnotic stripped down groove of E Way and the conclusive vocal house track of the record called Ucanb which goes more soulful

In order to make this release even more powerful and valuable we asked Ricky to step in to his James L'Estraunge Orchestra pseudonym and transform (remix sounds so limiting) the track into something completely different.
The result is something truly magical, a huge live jazz-funk escapade that sounds like if The Rotary Connection and Charles Stepney went on an orchestral late 70's jazz-funk-fusion journey...it's big, epic and full of musical surprises !

Scottish producers Ricky Reid (The James L'Estraunge Orchestra, RK Fusion, The True Rebels) and Craig Smith (6th Borough Project) are Soul Renegades, a duo that between themselves has more house history than most of us.
With early releases dating back to the 90's they previously got music out on classic labels like Restless Soul and Rainy City.

Reflections Of Yesterday is a new label with an eye on the future and a subtle nod to the past.

Al Bradley has done some mighty fine releases for Midnight Social Recordings, Muzik & Friends Records, Bass Clef Music and his own 3AM Recordings with a penchant for all things Deep and Dubby his tracks were a perfect fit for the first release on Reflections Of Yesterday.

Scott Hallam has had releases on Axia Records, The North Remembers, Epoque Music, Parrish Digital, and Sub-Urban Undertones Recordings. Although known for his love of full on Acid House, his tracks here delve significantly deeper as he crosses genres with ease.

Modern Senses is absolutely class - love it - like a nite drive through a futuristic city - wonderful,

Extremely solid release starting off with two tracks by Al Bradley 'Pale Blue Dot' which carries on
the early house style but in a much deeper way. Then we have Chicago house vibes on 'In Flagrante Delicto' with its dreamy pads and subtle acid towards the end of the track.
On the flip there's two tracks by Scott Hallam with the latin percussion filled 80's inspired 'Kettle
Crusader' followed by the gorgeous, almost Yello Magic Orchestra-esque 'Modern Senses' showing how versatile he is as a producer. All four tracks are pure quality.

“Blank Mind founder Sam Purcell returns to Blank Mind following a production mix for Blowing Up the Workshop and SMX collaborations.

'Studio Pads' thumps through at a bossy 117bpm, a sound system march that takes cues from early Chicago house as much as contemporary UK bass. Built on a gnarly two-note main riff, peppered with horn blares, it's minimal and primed for strutting and skanking.

On the B-side, 'Murmur' provides a sweet, pastoral contrast, the warmth of sun on skin. Dropping the tempo, birdsong recordings play back sidechained to a sub bass groove, Detroit chords refract through tight delays, and everything is kept in the pocket by syncopated hi-hats.”
