The White Man & The Arab return with their fifth release, The Exchange EP, further developing the sound that's made their previous four outings so alluring.Informed by a range of cues that reflect the pairs' influences, you can sense dub, ambient, minimal, a love for eerie melodies and raw deepness permeating from this EP's start to finish. The A side kicks off with "On The Floor" - a nod to the fact that the whole EP was crafted literally on the floor (the studio was 'in transition') - signals what awaits the listener for the duration of the EP. Moody pads, slowly progressing melodies and their signature syncopated drum patterns. "People Say" follows next, instantly shifting up a gear - this is a solid dancefloor shaker with a simple but seriously effective bassline that will be lodged in your brain, a sharp hi-hat & clap combo and a disembodied, haunting vocal that chants along to the beat.Flip the record over for the title track - "The Exchange" - areverb-drenched ethereal club cut that gets it's unstoppable sense of motion from the irresistible percussion workout, while the squelchy acid line adds that extra rawness. Rounding off the EP "Sideways" signals a distinct nod to Detroit. No homage in sight though - it's been carefully distilled via their own signature processes resulting in a somewhat emotional, dubbed out track - perfect supplement for when you're starting to land back to earth...

This guy Leibniz is back on Rat Life Records. You might remember him from the collaboration with Credit 00 on Basement Toolz Volume II. This time he goes for a full solo EP. The three course menu consists of a grimy appetiser called "Bat", if your stomach can handle this, we serve "Uzi" as a main course, a whole round of bullets, very hard to digest. "2 Simple" is for dessert, again quite heavy, full of fat and definitely not gluten-free.

Dear operators,Roman Flügel " third take. Hot on the heels of "Brian Le Bon" and the "Desperate Housemen EP", the man like Roman IV, Soylent Green and Alter Ego's spectacled half supplies four tracks of heavenly proportions. Ramona doesn't even know where to start with her eulogy, but at the start. The EP opener "O.T.H." feels like a time travel to bleepy Sheffield and dreamy Detroit while wearing the equipment of today. Same goes for "Girls With Status" that acts as a mellow 808 yet straight forward counter part to the Balearic beach grip hop that is "Thank You Jack". Crowning all that is the gurning bass line reverie of "Cookie Dust" that will leave you and your favourite DJ top and speechless. Enough descriptions! What's left to say Oh yes, this record had Gerd Janson salivating - and he won't be the only one.

1994 - Chicago producer Rick Lenoir has already released a slew of legendary records under many well known aliases and his House Jam label has been in business since '87. The Sanctuary Project is the nom de plume utilised by Rick for this particular killer Disco infected 4 track EP from that period. The keen eared among you will no doubt recognise some of the sample sources used throughout these tracks, Lenoir flips jazzy loops, chopped up vocals and lays it all out over some kicking drum programming, this is that style of sample based House that has the hardened dance heads and hip-hoppers unified, gritty, raw and brimming over with soul! The cuts featured on this EP will sit nicely with most contemporary sounds and shows how on the money Rick was in the mid 90's! The record has long been out of print and has been forever popular with the diggers out there, commanding a healthy price when available in the second hand stores and online. This reissue has been realised with the full involvement of Rick Lenoir / House Jam Records, Chicago and is 100% legit! Don't snooze, this one deserves a spot in any self respecting House heads record bag or DJ set, classic material made available again for 2017 - 'Running it'!

The legendary Prescription Records defined the 1990s deep house sound. Now captured in this monumental 6LP anthology boxset! Holds numerous classics that have been out of press for years + previously unreleased tracks, huge tip!!
Prescription: Word, Sound and Power' presents the groundbreaking Chicago based house label's anthology, holding milestone songs + four previously unreleased tracks.
Prescription Records defined the 1990s deep house sound. Chez Damier and Ron Trent started the label in 1993, released some two-dozen singles in a four-year span, many of which attained legendary status on the underground scene. Chez Damier and I started the label, because we had the idea to take a certain level of fidelity and bring that fidelity to what people call tracks. Tracks being drum orientated Chicago rhythm tracks with a minimalistic melody. We were playing with that idea, expounding a point of
that minimalistic aspect and making it more complex', Trent explains.
Ron Trent was born in Massachusetts but raised in Chicago, listening to jazz and learning percussion. He began DJing in 1982, playing at area high schools. His first EP, containing the epic instrumental Altered States,' was released on Armando Gallop's Warehouse Records in 1990. Chez Damier (Anthony Pearson) grew up in Chicago, where he danced at the Warehouse as a youth. He left for Detroit in the 1980s, helping to open the Music Institute and working A&R for Kevin Saunderson's label, KMS. Damier and Trent met while Damier was visiting Chicago and immediately hit it off.
Today, Prescription is cited by countless producers as a major influence. It's a very dub experimental label... sound bites, samples, rhythms, and a lot of ethereal stuff, too,' Trent expounds—not to mention. Prescription's embrace of heavy sub-bass. Concludes Trent, It was ahead of its time, definitely.'

Christian B & Lavvy Levan return with the second instalment of their 'Sounds from the Den' series on Friday Fox Recordings. This latest vinyl 4-tracker picks up where Vol.1 left off and continues to explore the outer reaches of the house genre, kicking off with the massive 'Weak' from Fatty Mombassa which combines Fatty's now trademark spoken word against a ferociously infectious disco influenced groove. South Africa's Rudi Botha & Miggza return with a looped-funk affair in the form of 'People Come Together'. Rob Slac delves deep into the dark recesses of a tech-style groove with the deliciously sultry 'Lonesome Butterfly'. The package is completed by the upfront sound of Kieron Ayres 'What Must I Do'.

Connections Vol 1
Illusion Recordings are back after a years break from releasing music for their 10th and most ambitious release. They took a break to step back and build a strong platform for the future and build a crew of high calibre Artists who represent and showcase their musical identity which they have built over their first 9 releases and two sub labels. Tom & James believe in quality over quantity and as such have chosen not to rush this project and have waited until everything was artistically just right. The release encompasses everything the label has been working towards the last 5 years and is the antithesis of the disposable, saturated market we find today. The release is a double gatefold vinyl only release featuring Keith Worthy, Norm Talley, Tommy Vicari Jnr, Janeret, John Shima, Bobby O'Donnell and Annie Errez. The release spans all shades of house and techno and solidifies Illusions place as an exciting and forward thinking label for real music heads.
