On the flip, Dresvn takes more of a beeline to Detroit, fuelled by submerged classics like UR's Coinochime — cosmic, but deadly and unsettling. ('Gammel' means 'junk', in German. Maybe Magellan the explorer permeates that title, too, going round in circles in the East Indies, giddy and gammy below decks, amidst his trophy exotica.) Warmly recommended.

Four highly requested remixes of Jacques Greenes sophomore Dawn Chorus album by Fort Romeau, Big Miz, Ciel and Martyn Bootyspoon.

Last years “Dawn Chorus” album showed Jacques Greene outgrowing the limitations of the tempo-defined dance genres he rose to notoriety within. And while his own music grew in scope, Dawn Chorus became his most collaborative work: courting friends and instrumentalists to lend their work to the album. For that reason, Dawn Chorus feels so much richer than his prior, solitary bedroom production and spoke to Greene’s competence as a curator. Inviting friends to contribute original remixes to the Deluxe Edition of the album which speaks to his ability for curation in a whole other sense: building on the album with club primetime house and techno, afterparty warehouse versions from Greene’s friends and family.

Dynamic composer Neil Cowley is set to release solidly electronic club-focused track 'DFAM'.

Neil writes: "The latest challenge I’ve set myself in my studio has been to look at how I incorporate my signature instrument (the piano) into my electronic palette of sounds.

It’s a hell of a hooky riff to jump on and it means I can get away with playing it on an endless cycle.
"groove based hypnosis is definitely my favourite state of mind".

The Swiss-Chilean producer Luciano, owner of Cadenza, transports “Nipia” to another dimension with a smooth and Balearic atmosphere for more than 10 minutes. How not to move and dance on the “Nipia” remix by Romanian Mihai Popoviciu. A funky minimal house track like no one else can do. Christian Burkhardt, experimented producer from Germany, turns “Dub one” into a minimal house version with his trademark sound. With typical piano keys and groovy bassline, the German producer Sacha Dive, a Cocoon artist, gives “Dub One” a real deep-house feeling.

What should have been a quick process has taken a bit longer than we hoped, but that's the way of handcrafted products, be they ginger beer or sourdough bread, and like the bread, the vinyl is currently cooling down to ensure an undisturbed, top quality product.NP004 contains two tracks, cunningly devised in Yorkshire, reflecting the area's no nonsense attitude and warmth. By day he guides lasers into position using precision equipment, at night he crafts raw house music. Welcome to the unusual world of Reflection Port Assembly. We got to know one another through a few brief, slurred encounters in the smoking area during the fabled Forza Italo night or at the aptly named Gary's Gang. Pretty soon it was clear that he had impeccable taste, like that record that featured Coil and Ice T. One sunny Friday afternoon in June, he tore himself away from guiding the lasers and we met up in the city centre. The light breeze did nothing to dissuade the office workers from gathering outside the pub for sneaky post-work pints. Surrounded a sea of grey and blue business attire, we agreed to make 'Retribution' the second release on First Cut. Featuring three cuts, it spans house, electro, boogie and even some Detroit techno influences.
But 'Retribution' is more than the sum of these parts. Unlike his precision-based day job it's rough and imperfect, flawed but warm, messy and charming - like a snapshot of every day life in Dublin.

2015, Russell returns in exemplary form to the label for this beautifully and brutally positioned EP of pulsating techno, modular synth acid flex and modern electro warp all conducted from his table of hardware. The A side's tracks 'Without Fear' and 'The Chill' see the sun up and glowing with their bucolic charm and rolling bounce, the depth of modular processing forming a kaleidoscopic centre one can stare into. The B side is a much colder affair, the sun drops and mutated 101-esque squelch oozes out into the dark dance floor. Hard acidic burns carry the track out into closer 'Privilege', it's formant synthesis swallowed and stomached sickly, the track is Butler at his best, marrying evolving percussive patterns and trademark Detroit-ish sulking pad's with a joyous sense of release in the lead acid line. Walking a thin line between light and shade this track introduces us to an artist reaching forwards with their machines.

Sme used to think that here's a guy who's just too cute to be underground, but SEBASTIEN BOUCHET proved them all wrong - with releases like the trippy "Fallen Angel" EP (KOMPAKT 210) or his gutsy contribution to Kompakt's Speicher series (KOMPAKT EXTRA 77). He also had a spectacular appearance on YOU AND YOUR HIPPIE FRIENDS' inaugurating release "A Very Nice Combinado Volume Uno" (YAYHF 01) with the tune "Captain Drag" - which went on to be played around the world, from clubs and festivals to Chanel fashion runways. Now, Sebastien returns with COYOTE CRY, his first full-blown EP for the Hippie Dance sister label: eclectic and unique, this five tracker reflects different sides and moods in his work, but always takes the momentum center stage - from the guitar-infused vocal shaker JAMBE DE BOIS to the heavy-duty bass of JATAGARAZI or the melancholic drive of the glistening title cut.

All recorded live in one or two takes most, using a roland mc 505 , roland aira tr8 , some fx pedals , recorded in cassette on a tascam 424. wich is the same set up I use to play live today.

Berlin newcomer 'Structive' delivers three banging club cuts on Outcast Oddity, backed by two remixes from labelhead 'Engyn'. Raw and timeless techno music for the head and the feet. Extasy!

LA based independent experimental techno label Halocyan returns with an outstanding EP from Toby Leeming AKA The Third Man (Ai Records, Sunday Best, Tabernacle Records, Chaval Records) Koffi is a hypnotic driving techno track. Red Boxing a low swung deep bass techno / house groove.
Closing the EP Repeater is a deep melodic detroit techno jam. A strong EP from the young London based artist which proves he has a bright future ahead of him.

For Lionoil's 4th outing, formerly supine Edinburgh top cat Thinktank takes us on a dive around his subaquatic crib, drifting between it's many chambers - each one stranger and more manic than the next. Within this flooded house are cupboards of digi-dub hysteria, boxes of ginger-snap crunchy electro and an attic full of flailing blippy techno that Thinktank has offered to dancefloors outside and above. Three tracks cut at 45 for the club, built for enhancing maritime mindfulness and amphibian serenity. First up, 'Salve' protects our skin and soothes our egos. Flip it over and deadly digi-dub rain-dance ceremony 'Computers Need More Africa' does exactly what it says on the tin. Finally, 'Underwater Allies' is Thinktank's entrance theme/warrior's dance/getting out of the shower groove.
Hold your breath and embrace the chill - we'll supply the goggles.

Todd Rundgren, Emil Nikolaisen, Hans-Peter Lindstrøm remixed by Stereolab, High Llamas, Erol Alkan and EYE (Boredoms)

Todd Rundgren/Emil Nikolaisen/Hans-Peter Lindstrøm's 'Runddans" was launched to wide acclaim in May this year. As a compendium of a release to the album, we invited some of our favourite artists to interpret the Runddans material, making their own versions of our piece.

As Todd was doing vocal takes during our very first and initial studio sessions for "Runddans", he claimed he would "try to do "ba-ba's", meaning vocal harmonies, like Stereolab'. It became obvious that both Todd, Emil, Hans-Peter and the label all had a soft spot for Stereolab's gleeful eccentricities. In remix- response, Stereolab joined their friends The High Llamas, resulting in five minutes of classic lounge bossa bliss!

Erol Alkan is a big fan of Todd. We thought it could be interesting to hear how he would take this a mastodon piece to the dancefloors. Erol delivered the goods and came up with a 10- minute disco epic. In the words of Mixmag: 'It's a joy to hear classic Lindstrom synths manipulated in such fine fashion putting this rerub up with Erol's best"

For all of us involved, EYE from Boredoms is the master of cosmic/psychedelic. This remix is very special to us. EYE's take on our music is pure magic!

Next up, the Spaceship takes off and so do we. The authoritative bass is clear from lift off and as we go deeper and deeper into our mission, we discover a whole universe, infinite in unexpected percussions, quirky sounds, and a spaced-out atmosphere.

Back to Life is a linear journey, a story best told in the morning with the sun rising in the background, as we prepare for landing. A calm road back to familiar grounds and soothing sounds.

After two much-sought-after releases from DJ Chupacabra, Carpet’s Steps series just had to come back with a third. ‘Finissage’ and ‘Subsonic’ on the A both live up to their steppy billing, the beats dipping and diving in and out of pads and samples that nod unashamedly to UK garage and dubstep. Rogue D & Memoryman AKA Uovo team up for their latest release this September with the Electric Safari EP. The four-tracker marks their collaborative debut on Crosstown Rebels, fresh from Total Black on Rebellion in 2019, and includes two remixes by longstanding German talent, Roman Flügel.

That tribal sound is felt right from the get go, as rustling hats marry up next to whirring synth pulses throughout. Ethereal keys chime beside resonant kicks whilst bell-like tones march on in the background. Roman Flügel’s remix takes on a more minimal-inspired feel, where a punchy underlying bassline perfectly compliments the celestial chord solos, before proceedings get stripped back further on the B Side with a dub version of each track.

Italian-native Rogue D is a well-loved figure in the contemporary house sphere. Renowned as one of half of Flashmob, his back-catalogue boasts EPs on an array of the scene’s leading labels, including Hot Creations, Crosstown Rebels and Defected to name a few. Fellow Italian-mainstay Memoryman AKA Uovo has garnered a global following in a career that spans decades. One third of the legendary Pastaboys collective, his productions have found a home on Snatch! Records and Rebellion in recent times. Roman Flügel has been a champion of Germany’s electronic music scene since the nineties. A prolific producer, the likes of Gerd Janson’s Running Back and Sven Väth’s Cocoon Recordings have welcomed his releases with open arms over the years.

Deetron’s debut EP for Running Back is an amalgam of some of the key virtues of both parties involved: the evocative and glorious power of the early days of rave (see cover art for further reference), emotional house, melodious techno, a beatless beauty and a firmly polished dance floor. Over the years, the Swiss producer has proven that his skill set and philosophy (underpinned by his mastery of the DJ trade) is perfect for such a mixture.
The EPs title track is the result of an extensive research in quiet storm soul records and their influence on traditional house music. „T-Symmetry“ and „TXT“ make extensive use of Roland’s classic JX-8P synthesizer with very different outcomes and the certainty that the idea trumps the tools.
