Svedjebruk's first V/A release features remixes of old gold by Matt Karmil and Ena Cosovic, new music from Svedjebruk debutant Vattenrum, plus collaboration by Omar Santis & Pistol Pete. Media Records is a vast label empire that ran some of the most seminal dance music outlets to have ever existed in Italy way back in the nineties, including UMM, BXR and Heartbeat.
Now they are launching a selection of their most important imprints alongside a number of brand new labels. One of these labels is the hotly anticipated Divergent run by DJ and producer Bimas which is to function as a platform for his own music.
Bimas is a Belgium born artist who started producing in Italy in 2000 and now releases on leading labels like Loco Dice's Desolat and Adam Beyer's Truesoul. His taste takes in
everything from techno to dance and pop, and he is also a skilled guitar player. As such, Bimas masters the ability to shift from the most aggressive sounds to deep or melodic ones with elegance and style. This new EP was written in his Italian coastal hometown of Ancona using external hardware like a Yamaha AN1X, Orbit 9090 and Proteus 2000. It is inspired by his past and his melodic techno roots and starts a great new relationship with Media Records. The fantastic 'Feeling Good' opens the EP with a wild-style techno aesthetic. Hulking great drums have wailing diva vocals up top and nerve jangling stabs. It is energetic and fiery and full of ravey flavours and cannot fail to arrest the attention of the dance floor, no matter how big it is.
The more subdued 'Fragile' is deep and rolling, with big glistening hi hats and deep looping bass sucking you into the midst of the track. Building to a high octane peak, rueful synths add a tender touch to the visceral drums and round out another fascinating effort. Nikola Gala is part of the exciting wave of Greek talent coming up in house and techno over the last decade and is tied to labels like Ibadan Records and Rekids.
His remix of 'Feeling Good' is a tense and rolling affair, with no let up from start to finish as cut up vocals and drilling synths demand you move your body. As far as first releases go, this one is more than impressive from Divergent.

Birdsmakingmachine are back on track and continuing their series in style with BMM 007. Kicking off things on A1, at 124 BPM, The Draft' is a joyful number that bursts with relentless energy while managing to fuse sharp metallic drum patterns with juggling ambient hooks. The more dancefloor-oriented track is nevertheless found on A2. As the title suggests, Area 52' is quite literally a journey through the unknown and mysterious, a metaphor for the deep minimal house Amazon, a track that stands out with an extra subby bassline, swinging hihats and those ever-so-warm sequenced analog pads in the background. Flip the record over and you find yourself with two slightly more industrial affairs, The Voice of Kudha' on B1 offering a breakier alternative than it's predecessors and Zagonity', on B2, galloping its way to close off the record with shuffling vocal hits and an amalgamation of bouncing hats and snares.

Two years on from his critically acclaimed self-titled debut LP and 2016's similarly transcendent club hit Safe/Multiply, Ghost Culture is pleased to announce his new EP Nucleus. Due for release on Phantasy, Nucleus, captures the enigmatic London artist's signature sound in the reflection of unexpected, vibrant new lights.
Leading with the understated groove of 'Coma', Ghost Culture quickly reaffirms his unwavering ability to hold the collective energy of a dancefloor, yet colours his latest work with a sense of intimacy and experimentation that resonates stronger than ever.
'ICO130' explores almost every facet of Ghost Culture's electronic form, as gasping synths and stuttering drum patterns flirt with an aching, unfurling emotional vocal sample, acknowledging both classic IDM influences such as Aphex Twin and Authechre, while subtly nodding towards contemporary, crystalline RnB.
The EP's centrepiece, 'NGC1275' adds flavour to a stirring, reflective acid line, amid a complex flurry of minor deconstructions and distortions, highlighting Ghost Culture's unique, contrarian ability to inspire both beckoning darkness and escapist fantasy through his work.
While the opening half of the five track EP is more primed for the night, Nucleus' leads to an introspective denouement. 'Perseus' pits raw electronics against a framework of loose, lucid drums, before 'NGC1265' delivers a wistful, brooding conclusion that makes an emotive case that impacts powerfully across just a short sketch.

Following their massive debut "Girl", Danish duo Cirkular are at it again with a follow-up release featuring more of that complex-but-danceable electronic music. The Huff/Am Plingest release owes homage to the electronic music of the 90s, with hints of breakbeat, Underworld style 4/4, dub-house and early Autechre style IDM.
The remix side features punkrocker-gone-techno Antonio Gram (of Reptile Youth fame), longside one of Danish technos godfathers, Broxgaard (formerly known as Patrcik Bateman of TicTacToe Records).

San Francisco-bred now Berlin-based Mr Dave Aju has been making some of the most forward-thinking electronic music for the last 13 years. A diverse range of influences from his jazz upbringing and hip-hop years, to the outer realms of experimental post-rock and musique concrete can be heard in Aju's unique sound, always with a solid sense of rhythm owed to his roots as a dancer.His new ep for Matthew Herbert's new label imprint Accidental Jnr comes in the form of Boom Yeah. An explosive mix of shuffling breaks, tribal tinged house and chant like vocal incantations. The 3 tracks of the EP were each inspired by three volcanic islands: La Reunion, Maui, and Bali (Boom Yeah, Haleakala, and Badai respectively) using handmade percussion instruments from each of the islands of origin.Boom Yeah EP' is released on 12 vinyl and digitally with a remix of the title track from Matthew Herbert.

Scienceofuse is a new electronic music label from Ljubljana, Slovenia. Its purpose is to transmit futuristic frequencies by using the science of creation to transcend percieved limitations. Connecting the advances in our culture and technology with the important lessons of visionaries that came before us.
The label's first release, 'Responsible Design' by veteran DJ and expert knob-twiddler known as Electronic Badminton King (E.B.King for short) is an acid-tinged affair with a darkish early noughties electro vibe on the A-side, while the flip delivers an abrasive technoid banger coupled with a deeper floating acid cut.

The combination of arts is a very important thing to be noticed, each of them has it's space, place and role in the album. Poetry and lyrics, photography / visual arts and music, altogether they make Queen' more than just a music album. Ten Walls also made collaborations with very wide and different spectrum of musicians during the creation of his debut album Queen'. Renowned maestro Petras Geniušas, good old friend Vytautas Sondeckis who contributed with a Cello masterpiece, bass guitar Domas Aleksa, drummer Marijus Aleksa, singers Jonatan Bäckelie, ALX , Monika Liu, Marijus' spiritual friend and teacher Andrew, conductor Ricardas Šumila and nonet performers. Ten Walls debut album Queen' will be available in double CD package from the mid of March."

Hypercolour's latest release comes in the form of 'Higher Level', a brand new release from label co-owner Alex Jones that is tastefully augmented by remixes from Mr Fingers and Hypercolour's latest signings,Groove Armada.

Jones' reputation for the sort of house music that takes a unique path is well deserved. Whether it's the choice of sounds, the levels in the mix or the occasionally bizarre arrangements, Jones belligerently ploughs his own path and is one of the few house artists who can claim to be completely unique. The designer behind Hypercolour's ever-striking artwork, Jones even gets to imbue his own releases with the sort of irreverent humour that has led to him being known as the Spike Milligan of house music by nobody in particular (or just 'bell' to his friends).

With 'Higher Level', Jones typically confounds expectation by delivering a his most straightforward cut yet. Classic in its elements and references, it's a track that employs a small mixture of percussion, an original vocal (courtesy of Alex's neighbour, Alan Winfield) and key samples to create a vibrant and powerful tune that is as classy as it is high impact.

Megacity Servant, the artist's third studio effort, stands as a coherent 16-piece techno outfit tinged with experimental tones while playfully deconstructing classic acid and disco fragments. Coming from a classical music background, Reinier's style of production ranges from cavernous powertracks to more concise trips subdued with melancholic piano-stemmed soundscapes, rounding up to a signature sound that is evident as it is enveloping.

Techno mainstay vocalist Cari Golden makes a notable appearance on Things We Might Have Said. Having previously teamed up with sonorous names like Pan Pot, Fur Coat & Coyu, Golden's stellar vocals and skillful lyrics shine paired with Zonneveld's production prowess. The production-vox chemistry is instant, as the track mesmerizes from the get go. Rotten City Records welcomes a new citizen, but not a newcomer tothe scene. He is Luca Rocca atagliati, best known as Dj Rocca, a veteran dj and producer from Italy,half Ajello, half Supersonic Lovers, half fromCrimea , a third ofElectric Tree and regular contributor with legendary Dj's like Daniele Baldelli or Dimitri From aris. After his multiple releases on labels like Is It Balearic , Nang or Futureboogie, Luca joins to our beloved rotten city with two original tracks showing his darker, narcotic and narrative side, concocting a bizarre and labyrinthine disco, which develops a spiral shaped staircase from the inside. He is the same Dj Rocca away from the cliches, who seek for more punch, more flexible rhythms, heartfelt emotions, and does not pursue the easy impact. Channa Six and Popi box are composed during a period in which he was searching for new sounds, creating a sort of cosmic pshychedelic aggressive taste of sound as far as Channa Six is concernid and a soundtrack abstract style in regards to Popi Box. Technically the tracks are based on a main arp, thanks to his new toy (at the time) Doepfer Dark Time, and both tracks have that spooky sound thanks to the Korg Trident synth which is a champion within the retro future sound. Many influences can be named here: Firstly, Channa Six was composed when he was really into listening to albums from Liaison Dangerous, Shock Corridor and Shrieckback... that sort of new wave sick electro with a huge mental big emotional atmosphere are very prensent in the track.Popi Box was made when Luca was really addicted to Soderbergh's The Knick series,and the Cliff Martinez soundtrack really blew his mind at the time. That is also very noticiable. The Ep is complemented by the personal approaches of British MR TC (Optimo Music) and the legendary Justin Robertson (Deadstock 33s). Thefirst one, if possible, makes the original a bit more druggy, while the second cut makes Popi Box sound more mechanical and industrial, creating that feeling of waiting for euphoria to break down. Insane.

There's not a lot to tell about the project Glow In The Dark by a certain Harry Miller. Only perhaps we can state that with these eight tracks at hand Harry Miller accomplished probably the most enchanting album of the still quite young year. Just when we wanted to dismiss the short-dated genre of Chillwave wistfully, Future Bliss' comes along with a bewitching sound hailing from an optimistic but cranky future. Already the opening track step ONE' with its vocal samples and its spoken word intro is futuristic soul full of affirmation of life pillowed on a synth bedding smoothed to the max up to its edges. But also the following seven tracks spread infectious positive vibes all around.The magic of Glow In The Dark's tracks is energized mostly by Miller's delicate way of treating his various samples, a wary manner one usually only shows when picking up a guitar. And unlike sample based music feeding from Hiphop his tracks are completely free from any sort of nostalgia, because all of his songs are designed for the future through and through.

Future Bliss' is one hell of a joy ride, from the first note to the last tone. The neon funk of 1987', the broken beat of 7 Billion = 1', the synth pop of The Last Dance' and in general, all of the eight tracks could be little, but great hymns on their own. But only in its entirety they sparkle this fathomless ingeniousness hidden in Glow In The Dark. In the end it seems to be wiser that one has as little background information as possible to be able to lose oneself fully in this Future Bliss'.
