The third release on Tempo Dischi is 'Keep On Dance' by Contact Music, a little gem that is part of the Italo Disco history, but has characteristics of the early Proto House sound.

Antonio Cucaro, the Italian musician, songwriter and producer behind this project recalls ‘I started playing guitar very early. I drew my inspirations from the echo of Woodstock that came through the ‘Bandiera Gialla’ show on Radio Rai: emotions that were equal to true revelations when listening to Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Cream, Jimmy Page, Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple), Joe Pass, Alvin Lee, George Benson. Stimulated by various musical contamination, which came from rock and Italian authorial music, I started immersing myself into searching new exciting sounds, applying composition to various directions while trying to produce something new without worrying about genres or people's judgements, all without a compromise. I would not have imagined that one evening in 1983, 'Keep on Dance' would be born. It was produced together with three DJs who wanted a sort of opening track for their sets, putting together some sequences recorded by myself using percussion, acoustic and electronic drums (Linn, Oberheim, Simmons). The fact that after almost forty years it has been revived and considered a Proto House pearl really honours me. Composing music is like breathing pure oxygen: you compose, record and realise that you are already thinking about the next step to keep breathing’.

Originally released in 1979 as a 45 single on the tiny private label “Papaya”, “La Mosca” is the very first version of the “Andromeda” track, already reissued by Disco Segreta in 2015, but this sports completely different lyrics and is sung by a different voice, that of italian folk pop chanteuse Louiselle.

Surprise ! The reissue 12” will not only sport the original 45 vocal version, restored to its glory in two versions, but will also include a ***previously unreleased*** version found on the tape, with a completely different arrangement , “fly” sound effects and different lyrics.

Both versions are directly taken from the analog masters.

Demi Riquísimo’s burgeoning label Semi Delicious returns for its 6th instalment. Another fine selection of tracks from various artists selected by the busy DJ, producer and curator. Having toured with Artwork, and garnered attested support from the likes of Eats Everything, Skream, Detroit Swindle, Moxie and Optimo, Semi Delicious proves again that its not slowing down.

Kicking things off in his typical finesse, the label boss Demi delivers ‘Judy’, a rolling, nostalgia trip that treads the line between authentic Moroder style disco and 90’s acid house. His pronounced use of retro sounding synths for his stunning swelling pads contrast the driving arpeggios that anchor the track. Splashy, sampled disco breaks offer up unparalleled groove while the track progresses through passages of bold synth leads and harmonious chordal breakdowns.

Manuel Darquart eases us into the A2, the Kiwi born, UK based Duo showcase their raw, stripped back club sounds. Driving, subterranean bass growls oscillate under suspended pad drones while splashy hi-hats open up with his warm, humming drum-machines driving the track throughout with a crunchy, inviting tone.

The continuing sense of nostalgia builds through 006 with ‘Deep Asleep’. The Holding Hands records regular showcases the distinctive sound he’s coming to be known for. Speeding things up, Baby Rollén asserts himself with thick, rolling 808 drums and diced up breakbeats. A wobbly, bouncing acid line takes centre stage along with seductive breath like vocals and subdued synth pads throughout the breakdowns.

Sealing the deal, Beraber, the Red Light radio regular from the Netherlands delivers ‘Maybe Tomorrow’. An airy Italo-house groove with plenty of swing. Distinctive, modulating synth leads float over a blend of Roland percussion sounds, soft synth pads and superb touches of incredibly funky bass.

After the heaviest of years, it should be time to take a little weight off with the playful sounds of The Person. Mapping its own Bermuda Triangle between dub-pop, sugary synthwave and Balearic boogie, ‘Tide Life’ transports Compass Point to Soggy Bottom, providing maximum fun, sun and bitmap escapism.

The eagle-eared may recognise The Person from the aspirational Italo-rockers Steaming Jeans, whose chalet-ready romp on Bordello A Parigi scored a Winter Olympic gold back in early 2020. Now left to her own devices, Minna Wight swaps the slopes for a jet ski and takes a Wave Race from Summer Bay to Monkey Island across 11 cuts of vintage oddball pop.

Whether she’s borrowing Brenda’s Beach Balls for the dubby daydream of ‘Snail Cafe’ and ‘The Place’, serving lost library cues to SNES club scenes on ‘Barry R Reef’ and ‘Elastic Shoes’ or spinning high school slow jams into synth soul ballads like ‘Nice Feeling’, Minna disguises serious musicianship behind a naive aesthetic. Disarmed by charm, we’re powerless to resist her tidal pull.

Originally released in 1981 on the mysterious "Newlock Records" (apparently associated with the even more mystifying pirate label "Records Production") is a production by Giuseppe Sergio Santapaga, a guitarist from Milano, and Edo Martin an Italian session musician. Supercool would seem to be a sort of cover of a song contained in the soundtrack of "Revenge Of The Pink Panther" and the mystery about this song thickens, and it is this stuff for the freaks of Discogs, since there is an unobtainable instrumental version called "Entity" by the "Entity Band".

Much like its associated club, Live At Robert Johnson not only features seasoned veterans, but likewise emerging talents and those already paving their way with quality productions. Victor’s production style tells much about his ongoing collaborations with one of bespoke veterans, Gerd Janson, providing countless remixes and edits as a tag team on labels such als Running Back and Permanent Vacation.

Taking their inspirations from a sonic array of UK Synth Pop, Balearic beats and Italo Disco, Victor Shan’s LARJ debut 4-track EP reveres nights spent at the Robert Johnson club: from the dancefloor to the studio. Lush detuned synths, deep basslines sometimes lingering down below, and upfront beats—they all catch the vibe of a wooden dancefloor to be found at Nordring 131 in Offenbach.

Mothball Record in association with Bordello A Parigi is proud to present one of the strangest and most mysterious recordings from the whole Italo-Disco era. Sitting somewhere between goth, italo and new wave, “Space Melody” is a dedication to ancient Egypt and outer space.
The original EP was almost totally lost to the sands of time, until recently the original mastertape was unearthed by the artist and later painstakingly transferred by Rude 66.

The record is completed by new instrumental versions from the Danish Italo king Flemming Dalum and the Spanish italo duo Futuro.

Funnuvojere's latest instalment, Minority Resist, comes from Czech Republic and it's signed by Martin Ku?ka under his moniker Goodbye Mirage. Martin has been performing and producing ambient and synthy compositions under his real name for many years, releasing a few LPs for the US cassette labels Sacred Phrases and Origin Peoples, mostly influenced by writing, drawing and photography, as well as by the rhythms of village life.? Funnuvojere's new ethereal EP interweaves nostalgia for the past and reflections on the present. The EP is imbued with Martin's memories of discovering Berlin's Love Parade, the golden cradle of 90s trance and progressive house. Emotional tension and unexpected polymeters characterise the EP, with minimalistic notes rippling back from a distant future. Careful design produces a unique sound and grain that will blissfully envelop those lucky enough to hear it played.?

Luxury Hits is an open-hearted love letter to possible futures. Trans-temporal projection through pop music for dancefloors. The music is about breaking through the limitations of our surroundings, not through escapism but defining a new reality on our own terms and breathing it into existence.

'Madrid Fue Una Ciudad Mundial' compiles four of the most important Spanish electronic projects from the 80's. A compilation released in cooperation with a show organised in Madrid last May, 18th where Aviador Dro, Flash Cero, Azul y Negro and Esplendor Geométrico played together for the very first time.Aviador Dro offers two unpublished early recordings from 1981. Flash Cero includes an unreleased song recorded back in 1987. Azul y Negro collaborates with a demo version of their cult classic 'La Torre de Madrid' from 1981. Today, a small club called Robert Johnson finds itself in twenty-one years of existence. Taking it by the ac- count of yesteryears jurisprudence, the Robert Johnson club has finally reached legal age.

Back in 1999, the forces behind Robert Johnson, both friends and aides alike, were driven by music and accoutred with a vision, to create a new expansive and collaborative understanding of club culture. To resiliently exist for such a long time, certainly wasn’t laid out in a cunning master plan.

Reeling through the years, we find ourselves in high spirits, regardless of these wicked times today, chuffed and thankful to all the fine people on both sides of the doors, wardrobe, bar, back office or DJ booth: Your love is a life saver2.

Robert Johnson was a master of the American Mississippi Delta blues—a mystical figure, legendary blues singer and guitar player in his own right—who, as the proverbial saying goes, traded his soul to the devil in return for unparalleled guitar skills. Whether this trade actually happened, we shall never know. What we do know is, that Robert Johnson has devoted himself to his music—in this spirit and in our own labyrinthine paths, we devote ourselves to a music club that carries his name. The lines in one of Robert Johnson’s songs advise the living to give all of your spare time, love and to treat her or him, Ed. right, when you got a good friend, that will stay right by your side. A good friend who stayed by our side until his untimely passing earlier this year, was our resident Andrew Weatherall.

Throughout Andrew Weatherall’s decades spanning career, the proper working class lad has been driven by music—not merely into it, as he would have put it, underlining his understate- ment with a chuckle. True to his school of many genres and inspired just as well by literature and art in the far corners, Andrew never would let people know what to expect of him; more often than not testing the musical flexibility and fibre of his audiences, being the notoriously whimsical minister of transcendent expe- rience and alternative fun, who more often than not emanated an air of edwardian dandyism. To the Robert Johnson club and quite a few of its close protagonists, Andrew Weatherall was more than a resident DJ: an excellent spiritual advisor, drawn to subculture and its hidden topoi, who would happily take the piss at any existing rule, as one of his tracks called Frankfurt Advice has literally put it on the record. Few DJs have fully cut the mustard as producers, artists and mentors alike, as Andrew Weatherall has had.

Fail we may, sail we must. Andrew may be physically gone, his spirit and music remains integral and revered at Robert Johnson regardless.

Lifesaver 4 is a compilation as diverse as the nights and mornings on Robert Johnson’s wooden dancefloor. Young talents and seasoned companions have paid their musical tribute in order to celebrate Robert Johnson’s twenty-first year, and to commemorate the sabresonic Captain now resting in his paradise. As the club culture experiences a worldwide disruption in this current stasis, we may find ourselves at the verge of a much needed cultural change. The tracks on this compilation—spread over a sumptuous box set of five vinyls or, mind you, as heavy weight digital files—are the acetates for the future of the Robert Johnson club. At times balearic, discoid, dubby, eccentric, energetic, haunted, lush and raw; they all make the most of it.

Following the reissue of Model Citizen, here is another seminal cut, out of the stellar Interactive Test's catalogue, this time by the visionary mind of Franco Falsini with one of his artist names Open Spaces, as well as the owner and mentor behind the label. Dreamy and progressive house at its best, composed at the dawn of the 90s Open Spaces is definitely another much deserved reissue, not only for the expensive price of the original 12" but because its contemporaneity and the absolutely stunning sound and deep soul.

June Records presents the debut release of Lithuanian artist Caroil who has been active in the local scene with his involvement with DOS Club and STRCAMP. Recorded between 2015 and 2018 in Vilnius, Lithuania using hardware digital and analog synthesizers. Sound sources include: Boss DR-660, Formanta Polivoks, Kawai SX-210, Kawai K1, KORG MS-20, KORG KR-55B, Roland SH-101, Roland JX3P, SIEL Cruise, YAMAHA TG-33.

Big release from the master of Italian Deep House!

Tempo Dischi is an italian label created on a mission to discover and repress classics and rare italian gems of the italo disco, afro and cosmic scene. With the support from all the main players who has made that era magic, we work to put back on records stores shelves a piece of art that may have been lost but it’s still timeless.

The fourth release is a double A side release from the japanese electronic music pioneer Hideki Matsutake. Composer, arranger and programmer he is certainly known as member of the Yellow Magic Orchestra with Ryuichi Sakamoto from 1978 to 1982. In 1981 he launched his own project Logic System, producing essential songs like ‘Unit’ and ‘Clash’ that are included in the seminal album ‘Logic’.

‘The first half of the 70s was an era of practices and challenges for me’ comments Hideki ‘I started at the studio of the legendary electronic music pioneer Isao Tomita where i touched a synthesizer for the first time. I explored the Moog modular learning how to create sounds that nobody had heard. It was a stimulating period for music. Loads of the Japanese pop of this era was an active mix of different genres like jazz, fusion, electronic music, enka and more, and there were many experimental sounds. The experience with Yellow Magic Orchestra has been wonderful, but I've always had the desire to produce my music based on my own experiences.
The first synthesizer I purchased was Moog IIIc and then an E-mu Modular System. The Roland MC-8 was also revolutionary in creating never-ending and precise rhythm patterns. I produced the first album ‘Logic’ together with my partner Ryo Kawakami. At the time I was working with him on different projects. Inspired by the principle of transformation, we were transported by thoughts, musical contexts and experimental elements that guided us to the production of this record’

The B side is a special italo disco version of ‘Unit’ produced by the Italian studio team Mito, formed by Natale Bellotti, Italo Portesani and Stefano Secchi. The idea of ​​this remaking came from friend and colleague Stefano Secchi. I think it was 1982’ recalls Italo Portesani ‘I introduced the project to Natale Bellotti who agreed to participate as executive producer. The studio band of Mito was born. The sound of Unit was already electronic and minimal but we thought to make it more danceable and in the mood with the italo disco and electro pop sound’

'Voices In The Night' is 23rd Underpass' third full-time length album, and Costas Andriopoulos has not lost a bit of his talent to write classy and catchy yet dark synth pop-infused Italo disco tracks. Again aided by Nadia Vassipoulou, John Britsas and Panos Papapetros on vocals, the album is comprised of eight brand new tracks including smash hits 'I Hear Voices In The Night' and 'Together Forever', for you to dance on your favourite disco's dancefloor, alone at home or just to dream away on Costas' haunting melodies.

We say: Mind-blowing, percussion-heavy, Afro-tinged, cosmic-disco library bomb.

This is the one. An absolutely outstanding record from 1983 and definitely one of the hardest to find on the collectable German library label, Coloursound. The Now Generation (Percussive Underscores) is comfortably one of the very best library records full stop.

The record comes galloping out the gate with a pair of rapid synthy-eurodisco bombs - the title-track and “Panama” - before slowing down to a woozy pace on “Inorganic Matter”. “African Nightclub” sounds like it reads, and is a particular favourite of Prins Thomas. Indeed, it was used to great effect on his seminal Cosmo Galactic Prism mix for Eskimo back in 2007. It’s followed by the dark, druggy, slow motion industrial groove of “Grease Plant” before “Southerly” lifts the tempo to close out side A with its Latin funk strut of bells and melancholic keys.

For us, though, it’s all about the opener to side B: “Mechanical Heart”. Seven minutes of building, mid-tempo disco-funk joy, deceptively explosive, club-ready gear for body and soul. The back cover dryly describes the track as “Guitar and percussion, light industrial underlay”. Hmmm. How about, “after finally emerging from a particularly heavy week jamming in a sunless, lawless German warehouse, Chic warily press record on a wayward, illicit instrumental for basement gatherings”. Just wait for those drums at the 3 minute mark…

The beatless ambience and menacing stabs of the proto-electro “Chemical Threat” follows, before the open drums and incredible fills of the metronomic “Steady Going” and fantastically monotonous funk breaks of “Nepal Trek” round out this sensational set.

This is a library masterpiece in no uncertain terms, full of synth funk, afro beats, exotica, leftfield madness, dance floor dynamite and all-around greatness.

As with our KPM and Themes re-issues, the audio for The Now Generation comes from the original analogue tapes and has been remastered for vinyl by Be With regular Simon Francis. Richard Robinson has brought the original Coloursound sleeve back to life in all its metalic silver glory.

Two sought after Italo Disco releases by ‘Rose’ on this re-issue by Blanco Y Negro.

Knight Fever is the second release on Bungalo Disco. The four songs are a mixture between childhood dreams driving K.i.t.t. and a time travel from the 80s to the 20s and back – each track on its very own way.
»Taniacid« is a Neo Italo track with some spices of acid that will make you feel like driving in „Super Pursuit Mode“.
»Trust doesn’t rust« is more or likely an Italo Disco song, hard to say when it has been created. Not even Italo Brutalo himself knows it. »Knightmares« – name is title. The psychedelic track contains just two elements. Less is more. An absolutely secret weapon on the dancefloor. »Not a drop to drink« has originally been written on a very hot summer day in the mountains of Ibiza, what you might not expect due to its dark atmosphere with elements of old school electro music.

The first vinyl release of 2020 on Nang, belongs to the Parisian producer and newcomer to the label, Kelton Prima. The veteran artist has been producing and Djing since the late 80's, also releasing under the alias of D_Tekt. Prima has released on the Belgian label Disco Praline, Chicago based imprint Mathematics Recordings, Pizzico Nobel and also has contributed remixes for Thieves Like Us and Plastique de Rêve among others. Along side him on this release features Hard Ton, the Italian artist, who released previously on NANG188. The duo deliver a cover version of Culture Club's 1983 hit, Miss Me Blind. The release sticks with a retro aesthetic, yet given a modern high impact make-over and features 4 edits.

The "Miss Me Blind" original takes you you on a voyage, straight to a dance floor worthy of the infamous New Dance Show in the late 80's. The upbeat, nu-disco grooves, with Solid bass lines (that later trans into squelchy acid affair) are counter balanced with Hard Tons sublime vocals. The Vintage drum machine sequence is perfectly matched with shimmering synths and guitar riffs.

Second on the release is the The Caribbean House "Vision". This edit takes things a little deeper with a modulating bass arpeggio, that pans across the stereo field. Spliced and pitched down vocal cuts feature in this version alongside chime bell melody and pads that creates a emotional ride.

DJ Rocca, the Italian producer a Nang Records regular, delivers a rhythmic and percussive remix. This is classic Rocca style with retro drum machine programming, and a variety of smooth and silky Italo synth patches. The final edit of "Miss Me Blind" consists of Club Domani's bouncy, bass heavy club version. This upbeat and energetic remix keeping things rolling with break-downs and snare filled drops.

For the third time, Bosnian DJ and producer Borgie has delivered an astonishing 4-track 12-inch to Electronic Emergencies. ‘Life Guarding’ offers a first glance into an upcoming album by Wolfgang Tillmans. The song finds Tillmans in open waters, lyrically exploring wor(l)ds as they appear like undertows and tie in the listeners by his candid approach to accept whatever the drift throws at him and leaving him exposed at his most vulnerable. It seems no coincidence that the video Tillmans’ shot and directed for the song finds a similar approach to ‘liquidity’ in visual language. Shifting the lens between micro and macrocosms, collages of body parts, fruit and insects, we find him equally paying attention to the waves of the Atlantic Ocean as well as to the ’same’ water in the form of drops, evaporating on a hot kitchen plate. This current shape of ‘Life Guarding’, in equal measures upbeat and melancholic, emerged in sessions with Tillmans’ long term musical collaborators Tim Knapp and Jay Pluck in early 2019 at Trixx Studios in Berlin, that were further developed and produced by Tim Knapp and Bruno Breitzke. ‘Growing’ was originally part of Wolfgang Tillmans’ sound, light and video installation ‘South Tank’ at Tate Modern in 2017. This summer finally sees the independent release of this collaboration with the L.A.-based duo Wreck and Reference. The song also features excerpts of Fred Weyrich’s lyrics for German singer Alexandra’s 1968 hit ‘Sehnsucht’ (Longing). ‘Growing’ involved the band placing samples of Tillmans’ singing and spoken word over a kick drum-driven techno track made with synthesizers, acoustic drum recordings converted to digital drums, and noisy samples of jangling keys. ‘Wreck and Reference’ are an experimental music project from California by Felix Skinner and Ignat Frege. Drawing upon the blown-out intensity of black metal and noise rock, they eschew traditional guitar-centric instrumentation to construct songs with digital samples, drums, and voice. Gledd closes out the all-killer EP with 'Your Mind.' With Chic-style wah-wah guitars, clever drum fills and yet another stonking bassline, it's another beautifully crafted disco groover that cleverly blurs the line between peak-time heater and perfect warm-up material.

Disco Modernism is back for summer 2020 with the brand new solo single of the singer Francesca Gastaldi, well known for her constant appearances on Italoconnection productions. Produced and mixed by Fred Ventura and Paolo Gozzetti, the 12” features two new songs perfectly combining energy and melancholy together with Francesca taking the leading role with attitude and feeling.

Mono Han are brothers Alessandro and Davide, who collectively have a deep and long understanding of electronic music. Davide is a co-founder of N.O.I.A, one of Italy’s first electronic live acts to perform and record with drum machines and synths as early as 1978. He was also behind seminal Italo outfit Klein + M.B.O and proto-house hit “Dirty Talk”. Alessandro, following in his brother’s footsteps was inevitable and he too became hooked on the incredible new sound palette emanating from the early electronic machines.

Since then they have released under an array of aliases, have clocked up numerous club hits and this project brings them back to their 80’s roots.

The cobblers are back with a fresh collection of bespoke 80’s edits. This second installment dives foot-first into swirling synth-pop, muscular Italo chug, and dubbed-out rhythms. The perfect soundtrack to Balearic sunsets and hazy late-night discos. Another limited vinyl-only release, get em quick before these boots have all danced off the shelves.

Giorgio Records is really proud to present the first official reissue of the experimental project GAG, from 1983, which includes two very different songs. Flyin’ Bolero is spacey and hypnotic while P.T. Dance is lively, and perfect for disco nights. Unknown and obscure, these two tracks are cataloged as Italo Disco tracks but go further. As always, Giorgio Records enriches the reissue with two remixes. Flyin’ Bolero has been entrusted to Armonics, Bari producer and great artist. P.T. Dance to Kid Machine.

Written in 2012 using just a MicroKorg and a mic, “Penguins Can’t Fly” is a magnificent slice of italo disco and a tribute to the Ghent based italo night Pingwing. It became a bit of a local underground hit which lead to Club Mayz performing it live at one of the parties at SMAK Ghent – once. The track never saw the light of day before so we’re stoked to announce this 7inch containing the original version backed with a powerful instrumental on the flip.

We are happy to welcome UK-based producer Native Cruise on Slam City Jams. The guy was on our radar since his releases on No Bad Days and Fruit Merchant that easily combined house music with new-age synths, a wave/EBM touch and balearic sounds.
His „Human Nature“ EP is no exception with five outstanding tracks that differ in tempo and vibe.
The opener „Crew Talk“ is a percussion heavy tune with lots of cowbells, a funky DX7 bass line, deep pads and dramatic chords that build up and up towards the end.
„Elsewhere" is the most housey track on this record, with four-to-the-floor 808s and bittersweet strings that burst out into euphoria. Closing down the A-side is „Fooled Again“, a balearic cut that feels like a day in the sun with it's little synth blips and arps.
On the flip we find the title track „Human Nature“ that might be the hidden jam on this EP. Hard hitting Linn Drums, digital synth bells and those haunting vocals we can’t get out of our heads. Finally we have „Not Long Now“ a perfectly atmospheric deep tune, that sits somewhere between ambient and reggaeton and will make fans of DJ Python more than happy.

Batongo Ditongo's version of the overlooked Mano Negra masterpiece was previously released in 2017 as part of a small uncredited vinyl run. This is a remastered version with a better sounding vinyl pressing.

The Magic Silk EP marks ROTCIVs return to Luv Shack Records - with three fresh original joints, this time alongside brother in arms Das Komplex, who delivers two new originals on the B side.

“It’s the Magic” is an italo infused house track, brimming with dramatic leads, a super tight and intelligent drum sequence, deep harmonies and solid bottom end. While being a lot slower in tempo, “Your Highness” lacks nothing in the power department - a fat rhythm section and a soaring acid line are the spine of this extraordinary cosmic stomper. Lastly, ROTCIV takes us on to a trippy tropical island with the synth heavy shuffler “Moleggio”.

On the flip, we have “Silk” by Das Komplex. Starting off as an EBM track with industrial feel, it gradually evolves into a hypnotic chugger with a sneaky boogie Bassline. The EP closes with “Aurora”, a perfect blend of NY disco attitude, synthesizer weirdness and balearic sleaze.

This is not a Disco record. The title deliberately troubles the music biz’s incessant tendency to hierarchize genre classification over the experience of listening. If you must categorize these mutant sounds think of them as a proposed alternate score for those long, caffeinated sessions in Abby Sciuto’s forensics lab, the soundtrack to a heavy workout in the Westchester Danger Room or perhaps the musical accompaniment to deep body investigations of your own ancestral memories. What this record really is, and why it’s called “Disco” has to do with the layering of time and life energy present in the spaces where we have traditionally danced to music which are sometimes called Discos. From the pounding urgency of “Muscle Machine” through the unbridled night vision romp that is “Fluid Feline Forms” and the shimmering investigations of “Whispers Between Worlds” to the extended lazer pointer focus of “I’m Unmelting” this record lays out a broad slab of practice-based research into the ghosts we connect with on the dance floor. Whether it be through partying in former industrial buildings, contested spaces of labor built on lands violently appropriated from indigenous people, uncomfortably inhabiting vacuums in queerness left by the AIDS epidemic, lifting lineages through sampling, or the relentless cycle of whitening that accompanies dance music’s march into the market, our experiences in the Disco have been permeated by the spectral and the haunted.

Through rhythm and frequency, organized over time, this music blurs the veil between the living and the dead inviting those who move to it to connect with experiences beyond that false binary. What you have here is another fantastic Black Meteoric Star record, as always made without multitracking or overdubbing, recorded directly from single live takes. It is is utterly consistent with all that name has come to mean, but on “Disco” Black Meteoric Star’s vision has been allowed to expand into an almost mythologically epic space. Ancestral time works differently. Settle in and absorb the frequencies. As the closing track suggests, the virtual Disco these sounds evoke is for “Freaks Only”.

4 obscure early 80s library tracks (industrial/synth wave/italo)

Number five of Funnuvojere's catalogue comes directly from the depth of the Bari (Italy) province. It is written and produced by Francesco Strippoli aka Armonics and follows his first mini LP on Slow Motion Records, Nuovi Orizzonti. Starlight Keeper smells of night time at the beach, fishing in the dark, under a sky of stars. The title track is a dancefloor pleaser reminiscent of early 90s Dream House that soars on a synthy melody, pierced with an acid line. Twenty-Two is an arpeggiated iteration of Italo Disco: hallucinogenic, suspensive, vibrating with melancholic strings. The drums of Living Waves support buoyant sonic layering while the Chicago inspired Portal projects the listener to that moment when night yields to the light again.

The city of Bologna (BOLO for locals) has been always a crucial junction for the underground music scene in Italy. Over the last few years a small group of bad boys has started to fill the streets with a distinctive and modern interpretion of house music.

Sfire 1 was the incarnation of Sfire. I met Sophie at a Motherland show in 2008 (Sophie and Marcella's berlin based band). I suggested she make a dance version of a song they played and she asked me to come to the studio to help produce it. She had heard me djing many times and was a fan. We became good friends and made a few more tracks along the years. we hope to make more soon.
As for me I've been a dj since i was 16. Grew up in Detroit. Fell in love with underground 80's music (house italo freestyle) and have been djing regularly since.

Soundtracks and dark, sinister disco. He has amassed a massive fanbase and has a fantastic discography stretching all the way back to his first releases in 2008. Currently residing in The Hague, Bristolian Anton Maiof makes music that is beautifully dark, yet wonderfully uplifting. His “British Interrail” EP is his first release for Castles in Space since the long sold out “British Summer/Russian Winter” double 7”.Anton delivers a beautiful sequence of frosty electronic disco tracks on the 30+ minute E.P. release, “British InterRail”. Written and produced in The Hague between 2017 and 2019, these tracks bring together some of Anton’s most stirring work executed with his usual affecting and direct production. Fantastic stuff.

A timeless masterpiece.
