Over the last few months, the main focus in the Rekids camp has been on Nina Kraviz and the remixing of her 2012 debut LP. Now it's time for a change, and it's head honcho Radio Slave's turn to get in on the remix action, with his 2008 hit 'Tantakatan' getting a fresh makeover in the shape of Mr. G's 'Nightwatch Dub' and Prins Thomas' 'Diskomiks'.
On the former, Mr. G powers up his MPC and delivers that signature analogue beat-driven sound, tweaking the parts and including extra ideas to truly make the track his own. Cranking up the tempo ever so slightly, Mr. G takes the track into darker territory and adds a sinister rumbling bass line with more than enough low-end energy to make your guts shake. Like all of Mr. G's best tracks, his 'Nightwatch Dub' builds gradually, while never losing that trademark Mr. G groove. This one is going to set techno dance-floors alight.
On his 'Diskomiks', the prince of Norwegian 'space-disco' Prins Thomas opts for a more organic approach, re-creating the unmistakeable chord stabs of the original on an acoustic piano and utilising a traditional drum kit for that loose, laid-back groove that could only come from a live drummer. His track shimmers with white noise and reverb throughout, before treating us to a delightfully staccato synth bass that typifies the Scandinavian disco sound. Fans of his musical output won't be disappointed.
Here we have two supremely talented artists tackling the same task from different perspectives, showing that a simple, strong idea can go in one of many directions, and allowing us to indulge our love for techno and disco at the same time!

Robert Hood knüpft mit "Motor/Nighttime World Vol.3" an die beiden Vorgängerausgaben 1995 auf Cheap (Vol.1) und 2000 auf M-Plant (Vol.2) an. Im dritten Teil fusioniert er seinen klassischen Minimal Techno mit verspielten Jazz-Stimmungen und schattigen Downbeat-Atmosphären. Inspiriert wurde Hood diesmal von Julien Temples BBC-Dokumentation "Requiem For Detroit" (2010) über den Niedergang der Geburtsstadts des Techno, die einst die viertgrösste Stadt Amerikas war und als blühendes Industrie- und Wirtschaftszentrum 'Motor City' den amerikanischen Traum verkörperte. Das Album erscheint als CD im Hochglanz-Digipak und als luxuriöse 3LP im Hochglanzcover mit unterschiedlich bedruckten Innenhüllen, 180g Vinyl.

The Godzilla Kebab label was started in 2012 by Sames, is based in Saint-Petersburg, Russia and now serves up its 6th EP, a four track affair that calls on various artists from across the world. Quintessentials associate Andy Ash, label boss Sames, Sam Williams (aka Chamboché) and Sam Halsall (Elevator) come together as Ampers& and finally Replika are the names who turn in one tune each with the results making for fresh house listening. 'Bad Cat' is the first jam and it comes from Sames.
With a prowling, gnarly bassline, the thing creeps along with raw analogue lines and whacked out drums setting the mood. Eventually some tooting horn stabs and ping ponging kick drums come in to liven things up and boy do they do that. The recently formed Ampers& duo hail from London and have had some fine releases to date as solo acts.
Together they are an even stronger force and their 'Play On' track is a well crafted bit of house with squelchy melody phrases, light as air percussion and nimble drums - you feel as though you are floating on a groove rather than being rooted to planet earth and the overall effect is refreshing indeed. Andy Ash is a well-travelled UK house talent with plenty of releases on a wide range of labels.
It's 'Rothfield' that he turns in here, and in the process shows once more why he is so highly rated. His no nonsense house kicker has muddled beats and bass offset with crisp, emotive synth smears, it's a jazzy, colourful bit of propulsive house music that will make floors bounce as one.
Replika rounds out the EP with the aptly titled 'Keep It Down' which is slower and wallows more in its own forlorn sense of late night romance. The chords are heartfelt, the odd vocal sounds tug at the heart and it's a fine way to close things down. This is a more than handy house EP that offers four equally enjoyable but stylistically varied tracks....

After having successfully introduced their new limited serie, the Im in Love crew steps up with their next numbered and silk screen printed release. Limitation to 50 vinyls only! The two tracks come from - Get Serious', a musical project created by Francesco Vacca, Stefano Cibabene and Michele Quagliati in 2010. The three Italians first started making music in Genoa in 2006, later they managed to get a residency in Bologna until they moved to Berlin in 2010.Their vision of strong detroit and dub influenced techno perfectly fits to the labels work as these tracks do: On the A-Side we have some analogue drum madness combined with melodic strings and beautiful fast dub chords. Surely that is a late night club banger! The B-Side comes with a heavy kick, some cool hi-hats and a deep detroitish atmosphere, created to make you fade away!

The Sub Squared label presents an EP by Kloke, a Melbourne based producer who captures the atmosphere and vibe of a variety of his native Britain's forms of electronic music without merely rehashing past genres: Jungle, Dubstep, Grime, Ambient and Techno are distilled into his original but familiar soundscapes. Kloke's back catalogue includes releases on Entrada, Granholme and Styles Upon Styles. On the first side the tracks are beat driven; two tracks with distorted drum machine at 120bpm providing the bones for reflective harmonic and melodic parts that are reminiscent of Jungle or Breakbeat Hardcore. The second side of the record is a mini album in itself; seventeen minutes of beatless music in three tracks. 'Ember' matches staccato rhythmic elements to thick lush pads, 'Yeman' employs a piano and cymbal sample over melancholy tones. The title track of the EP is a 10 minute medley of ambient music that ranges through moods of warmth, desolate electronic bleakness, unsettling menace and skin tingling nostalgia

AVAILABLE FROM NEXT WEEK. Masks, the duo of Alexis Georgopoulos (ARP, The Alps) and Max Ravitz (Patricia, Inhalants) debut on Opal Tapes with four tracks of limb twisting techno. Each piece expands into surprisingly complex and evolving workouts with Ravitz signature dusty blanket laid thick over most. 'Wormhole' bumps itself around over it's near 10 minute duration, layers folding and phasing into new forms yet always plumbed direct to the hips. 'Vapors' mantles itself on top of a gargantuan kick, sprinkling off blinking hats, and meloncholic pads, a dance floor hypnosis of breathing sound and liquid drum progressions. Opening the b-side 'Zebra pulls off the veil and opens the filter, brighter plucked tones shepherd the track into it's true form, techy but never too sharp, jutting and brukking with a sick funk. EP closer 'Fragile Feelings' winds energies down somewhat into a reflective and subtle bop. Tom roll down the steps in a glorious tumble, hugging a thin vein of drawn sound, the synthesiser yawns a gorgeous arc, an arc which guides the track down into landing. This is not outsider music, this is honest electronic music made by people who care and you can hear it at every single second.

Between the two of them, Jenifa Mayanja and Lola (aka Dakini9) have over 20 years experience in NYC's electronic music community as producers/djs and label owners. They return with their newly launched joint label and music collective Sound Warrior with their second release riding high on the buzz created by their first outing which was well charted and reviewed.

This second EP from the label features multi-instrumentalist, beat-maker, producer Pursuit Grooves, other wise known as Vanese Smith. Pursuit Grooves has released on Tectonic, Rush Hour, and Deepblak, amongst others. Here she turns in an eclectic atmospheric cut that moves through various beat patterns, going deeper with every bar. On the flipside, Jenifa Mayanja's 'My Reasoning' features her voice sampled and chopped, beautiful synth work, and organic percussion. Dakini9 closes the project with 'Trail Markers,' a winding synth exploration with more of that Sound Warrior ritualistic percussion.

Sound Warrior is an engine fueled by a desire to bring much needed exposure to women who are under-rated, as well introducing up and coming producers while also showcasing already established artists/producers. In an industry where women have few mentors, the Sound Warrior umbrella can be a source of inspiration and support for women artists by creating opportunities, working together, and building community.

Side A: Ghetto Juice - Another nice Techno Soul groove by Eddie Fowlkes, with the deep bassline with the laughter of of streets of Detroit and crazy horn lead to get the ladies dancing..
Side B: Sunday Morning - This cool swing late Saturday night Groove with a fade in vocal of "Easy Like Sunday Morning" sample will definitely have hands in the air, Brilliant track by Mr. Fowlkes.

With previous releases on WT and Echovolt Records, Entro Senestre makes his L.I.E.S. debut with the two track "Siamese Connextion" ep.
Root Canal sounds just like the title, a painfully executed techno/electro track. Starting with a blown-out stuttered kick pushing air coupled with synths and melodies that wouldn't sound so far off in an Ultradyne song crushing the listener. Siamese Connextion is a completely different animal clocking in at 9 minutes with lush chords and melodies, building up and breaking down, providing perfect early morning modern house sounds.

Visionquest's Ryan Crosson, mighty duo Tale Of Us and the unique Aquarius Heaven all unite for the 'Into Later Habits EP' - the next release on the Visionquest imprint. A-side 'Angel' is a collaboration between Crosson and Tale Of Us, a multi-layered head trip with a moody intro of broken beats that builds with intricate textures until a rolling groove drives the track into another dimension. B-side 'Head Under Water' is structured around the penetrating and distinctive voice of Aquarius Heaven as he weaves a story of the importance of family and love. Beginning on a sparse, ambient tip with electronic bleeps and fx, the track develops with a hypnotic percussive groove that vibrates beneath the powerful narration.

One fourth of Visionquest Ryan Crosson had a creative purple patch as a solo artist in 2012 releasing the impressive, esoteric album 'DRM' and preceding EPs co-produced with Cesar Merveille. This year Crosson is on tour as V i s i o n q u e s t T h i r t e e n with showcases on the worlds most spectacular stages, including Timewarp, Glastonbury and Burning Man.

The Italian/American and now Berlin dwelling Tale Of Us exploded onto the scene in 2011 with their debut 'Dark Song EP' for Visionquest and have since become one of the most in-demand live/DJ acts in the business. Always bringing raw, deep, and emotive strains to their music, the duo has also released on other maverick labels m_nus and Life and Death.

Aquarius Heaven is an ex-Reggae and Dancehall singer who got involved in electronic music when he met insane trio dOP in Paris, 2005. Breakthrough track 'Universe' came on Circus Company in 2010 and led to a release on Wolf + Lamb, 'Can't Buy Love'. Recently Aquarius collaborated with Miss Kittin on latest EP 'Parallella Mundi' for Circus Company.

The first installment in the vinyl edition of the Thema compilation Strength In Numbers finds the New York label reaching into its deepest corners to deliver four psychoactive cuts for the most discerning of DJs and dancers alike to lose themselves in.

Norm Talley has been a mainstay of the Detroit electronic music scene since the mid 90s, and the sublime, pad-enriched tones of 'Space Talk' perfectly sum up the mysterious soul he has made his name on. Damien K. Sahri shares the A side with Talley, and despite being a newer talent previously seen on Little Helpers and ADltd, his slender and immersive 'Everything' joint stands up to comparison with the caliber on this record.

Oskar Offermann has been busy building a career around releases on his highly-regarded leftfield techno imprint White, and with 'Riseouse' he excels in channeling unusual sound sources into a tense and unnerving atmosphere that flies under the radar of obvious dancefloor tropes. Donor / Truss too understand how to get under the skin of the listener with a storied background in minimal techno for the likes of Perc Trax and M-Rec, and with the dubby undulations of 'Discern' the Brooklyn-London duo provide the perfect distillation of their uncompromising style.
