ncouraged by the high demand for 'Foundations Vol.1', which saw DJ Spinna and Kai Alce join forces to release the Cajmere classic 'Brighter Days' on 7' vinyl, the second volume of
'Foundations' sees the pair digging even deeper into House music history, selecting a pair of tracks from Chicago legend Tyree Cooper. The first cut on our strictly limited 7' pressing was
originally named 'Video Crash', then re-titled 'Acid Crash' on a bootleg version released around the same time. Whichever name you prefer, this 1988 track hails from an era of creative oneupmanship in the Chicago underground. The story goes that Marshall Jefferson and/or Lil' Louis created a jam called 'Video Clash' in the mid 80s (there's still some controversy about who made it, so we'll say no more). Keen to go one better, Tyree hit the studio to make a track called 'Video Crash' and in the process he created one of the most potent and recognizable Acid House tracks of all time. On the flip side and originally released back in '89 is Joe Smooth's 'Too Deep' mix of another Tyree classic: 'Hardcore Hip House'. A crossover anthem, Tyree's original version paired rap vocals and James Brown cutups with raw House beats. Fellow Chicago DJ Joe Smooth shows off the
flawless, crisp production abilities that would later see him producing for Destiny's Child, New Order and Whitney Houston with this superb, timeless Deep House remix

It's rare to come across a debut album that delights and surprises in equal measure, but that's exactly what you can expect from Human Call, the first full-length excursion from daydreaming dancefloor fusionists Earthboogie.The East London-based duo of Izak Gray and Nicola Robinson has previous form when it comes to creating beautiful, funk-fuelled fusions of soundsystem-ready rhythms, humid instrumentation and intergalactic audio explorations. To date, they've released a pair of fine EPs on Leng, both of which did a splendid job in showcasing their unique musical vision.Even so, this vision has never been clearer than it is on Human Call, a vibrant eight-track missive that fixes the sticky tropical cheeriness of African and South American dance music - be it Afro-disco, Afro-funk or samba - with a wide range of complimentary sounds, styles and influences, from spacey analogue electronics, sun-kissed Balearica and hazy West Coast jazz-rock, to chunky dub disco, snappy retro-futurist house and bouncy, dub-fuelled club workouts.Throughout, Gray and Robinson showcase an impressive level of musicianship, variously combining crunchy drum machine hits and dusty old synthesizers with razor-sharp electric and acoustic guitars, rich bass, cascading saxophone solos and hazy, life-affirming vocal harmonies.The result is a string of memorable highlights, from the sticky tropical-house-meets-dub disco futurism of 'Human Call' and fuzzy disco-funk righteousness of opener 'Overground', to the post-punk disco jauntiness of 'Stargazing' and samba-infused dancefloor bliss of Nina Miranda collaboration 'Silken Moon'. Ichisan is Slovenian Igor Skafar, and Igor´s Trademark Sound is heavenly electronic blissed spaced out house with a sick amount of grooves layerd in. Fab earlier releases on the grand Airtight and Unter the Shade labels tell musical tales of this. And so it went that Hoppsa fascinatd us yet againy with it´s mesmerizing 80´s synth hook that you want to simply lock in and play away all day and night... while Kristina is an unmistakably Philly Affair with an edge, and edge, that means deep depth and a serious build between the woobly - and that is what we like! not being able to decide which one to favour, eventually, we released both. here´s to YOU!

Tilly Jam - die Erste. Eine elegant arrangierte Standortbestimmung. Ein Knall von einem Labeldebüt ähnlich dem Geräusch beim Aufprall der Schampusflasche an den jungfräulichen Schiffsrumpf. Drei Mail die unmissverständliche Ausformulierung, wohin hier die Reise geht: House, House, House! Und natürlich Kollege Till von Sein selbst an den Knöpfen.

Die A-Seite kommt lässig aus dem Hinterhalt und spätestens wenn von Sein den Bass eintastet, steht die Groove-DNS dieses Herz - und Hüft - wärmenden Openers. Rein - und rausgefilterte Stringflächen, seidig weiche Sample-Ware im Break und Vocals, die den letzten Zweifel zerstreuen: Wir befinden uns hier in 'Heaven'.

'Ambush 77' auf B1 lässt dann auch die letzten Hemmungen fallen und betätigt mehrfach die Peaktime-Fanfare. Ein von satter Kick, kolossaler Bassline und perkussiver Grundierung getragener Trigger für den Floor-seitigen Kontrollverlust.

Die B2 zieht sich daraufhin nur minimal ins Understatement zurück. Nach dramaturgischem Aufbau via spoken word verdichtet sich das Arrangement von 'Part Of The Solution' zu einem Groove aus grober Bassdrum, angezerrten, Acid andeutenden Synths und - im Kontrastprogramm dazu - zärtlich eingespielten Synthie-Miniaturen.

Tilly Jam - number one. An elegantly arranged announcement of where it's at. A bang of a label debut, not unlike the sound of a bub bottle hitting the hull. Three times the unmistakeable message where this is heading: House, House, House! And obviously the man Till von Sein himself on the keys and knobs.
You'll find the A side starting off rather cooled down, but as soon as von Sein keys in the bass, the groove DNA of this heart and hip warming opener is set. Filtered string-sequences, silky smooth sampling in the break and vocals that resolve even the last fraction of doubt: We are indeed in 'Heaven'.
'Ambush 77' on B1 is letting go of all remaining hold backs and activates the peaktime hooter several times. A funked up trigger for loss of control on the floor, sustained by a luscious kick, a colossal bassline and percussive priming.
B2 is backing down just a little bit into understatement. After an intro of spoken words, the arrangement of 'Part Of The Solution' consolidates into a groove of thick bassdrums, slightly distorted, Acid implying synths and - in contrast - tenderly installed synthie-miniatures.

This was the era of big major label Disco productions when there was huge budgets for the best studios, musicians and engineers. All of these factors teamed with the phenomenal song-writing and vocal performances of Nickolas Ashford and Valerie Simpson meant that 'Stay Free' would go gold on it's release and give the duo some of their most enduring songs including said title track and the anthemic gospel Disco classic 'Found a cure'. To have access and the permission to remix such classic records is a real honour, one that Dimitri does not take lightly, suffice to say then that the mixes you hold here in your hands are the very best, they've been put through the quality control channels, road-tested and listened to over and over before reaching you. After releasing the track Chillin at the 6th Floor on the vol 2 of our 'The Sweetest' VA, Dj Rou, originally Francesco Zaniboni, chief of L'Archivio record store in Bologna, makes finally his debut with his first full EP on Bosconi Extra Virgin named 'Vento EP'. Having released on Cognitiva, Red Rooster and Daphian the sound of Vento EP is a full immersion into two main factors: a strong passion for Jazz and Latin music in line with the love for his three favorite dusty gears Korg Electribe MX, MPC 1000 & his guitar, giving a cosmic and tribal atmospheres still embracing the classic nature of sampling. The record starts with the track which gives the title to the record, 'Vento', where its jacked out beats get enriched by some beautiful, romantic and memorable soulful vocals. After that we find on the second cut the laid-back, summery and deep sexy vibe of '4Phenia' while on the flip side Dj Rou changes directly the mood with the more driving and mysterious atmospheres of 'Dante Says Truth'. When thinking Balearic, there is a name that should strike you right away. No, not Ibiza itself, but the man responsible for producing and curating some of the lushest sunset music the White Island has ever heard - Steve Miller, perhaps most commonly known as Afterlife.Making a name for himself in the early 2000's by playing monumental events such as Glastonbury, headlining Cafe Del Mar's 20th anniversary party and reaching the top of the UK charts by remixing Another Chance from Roger Sanchez, he's managed a consistency unlike many others in the decade and a half since. Releasing standout classic albums such as "Simplicity Two Thousand" and "Speck of Gold", his music has been released on the premiere labels of the time, such as Hed Kandi and Defected, while also being featured on numerous compilations to date. Not only is he a master of his craft, but he's also managed to attract some of the best in the business to work with him, namely K-Klass, Jose Padilla, Chris Coco and an almost inconceivable amount of others. Lately, Steve has shifted his output to his own record label, Subatomic UK, averaging an album release every two years over the past six years.
This time Steve looks to build a bridge to the dance floor, with a pair of remixes released on a 12" with one of the lead singles ahead of the album. 'Give It Up' gets the treatment from two of the underground's current finest. WOLF Music's Medlar changes up the percussion and gives it a more tropical flare, all the while using the main arpeggiated elements of the original, adding his own airy synth work and groovy bassline that's just bound to set dancefloors on fire. The second rework comes from Futureboogie's mainstay Christophe.
Choosing to work with atmospheric strings and vocals, this version utilizes plenty of the producer's own groovy ingredients. Managing to inject some funk into his take, the bassline and disco toms give it a fresh, playful vibe that pleasantly contrasts the original. The remix 12" is set to hit shops first as a teaser to the full product in mid -June, with the album following closely behind.

Later I found out that he had edited every single record on his collection just for practicing. Seriously, you need to listen to this weirdo's skills !

Kalita Records are extremely excited to announce their second release, Okyerema Asante's Ghanaian disco monster, 'Sabi (Get Down)'. After touring the world and recording with both Hugh Masekela and Oneness of Juju, 'Sabi (Get Down)' was Okyerema's first solo record, released privately in limited numbers on his label Atumpan Records in 1980/1. Recorded and manufactured in the USA, but only ever released on the African continent, this self-funded, scarce, and brilliant afro-disco LP regularly exchanges hands for eye-watering prices.
This is the first time that 'Sabi (Get Down)' has ever been officially reissued, and we are happy to reproduce it in its original, 14 minute long form (check out Lady Eke Ete's amazing vocals at the 13 minute mark!), backed by the equally impressive 'That's My Girl' on the B side. In addition, we are glad to accompany it with extensive interview-based liner notes and never-before-seen photos, detailing Okyerema's career from his membership of Ghana's legendary band Hedzolleh to performing with Paul Simon and Fleetwood Mac twenty years later.

2019 REISSUE ORIGINAL ART!! - The second edition of our Classic Series comes in a 2018 Reissue also! From 40 Thieves and is all about their fantastic cover version of one of our alltime disco favourites, 'Don't Turn It Off' from Hot Chocolate, with the amazing Qzen on the mic. And for the first time all remixes and versions are finally on one vinyl, plus the Greg Wilson Dub Edit is exclusive to this release. The Original Version came out in 2008 on Permanent Vacation, followed by the Brennan Green Remix, that came out on vinyl on his own Chinatown imprint, and the Greg Wilson Edit first appeared on his Credit To The Edit compilation 12 sampler. All three records sold out a long time ago.

Here comes Argoman, the antihero of disco music. Inspired by the 1960s b movie super hero Argoman, the name literally means lazy man, however it's also a combination of three Italian producers' names, who started the project about one year ago. The track Chimicalissimo merges the vibrant rhythms of disco with the emotional approach of modern electronic music. It's a peak-time dancefloor banger completely produced with analog synths and drum machines. The tune is a proper voyage between syncopated rhythms and heavy basslines soaked with synth melodies that often recall IDM progressions. The dub version gives more space to a melancholic piano melody that culminates through analog arpeggios to an unstoppable build. Black Spuma remix finally turns the track into a slow burning disco monster.

Natasha Kitty Katt returns with a new, two-tracker 12" for Masterworks Music. The Multi-talented mistress of disco has been wreaking havoc on dance floors all over the place with her infectious sets at Liverpool Disco Festival, The Southport Weekender and this year's SunceBeat in Tisno, Croatia. Not to mention having recently solidified her own imprint, Ghetto Disco Records, she's also been flexing her talents in the studio with recent releases on Hot Digits, Tribe UK and now, Masterworks Music.

The Disco Vibrations ep comes with two sides of pure dancefloor heat with "24 Hour Sesh" up to bat first. Co-Produced by Krane, this high tempo burner features a relentless, pumping bass groove and loads of those quintessential disco-strings. Jubilant vocal chops chant, screech and howl for the party to continue "all night and day" while filtered piano riffs keep the disco fires burning bright.

Flipping over we get "After The Dance," which offers a similar approach to it's A-Side counterpart. Taking on a deeper, sub bassline, things get even groovier once layers of sampled vibes and cosmic synths chirp and swoop all throughout the tracks six minute run time.

Second release on new LA based Pleasure of Love label, Barcelona's Pau Roca on editorial duties. Soulful disco grooves and rare south african funk are subtly retooled, teased out, and extended to perfection for DJ use. Born out of a dingy basement club in Hollywood, Pleasure of Love has grown from anything goes disco house party to adventurous re-edit label.
Reworks reflect the spirit of the party and limited pressing of 300 matches the capacity of the venue that holds it each week.

Tempo Dischi is an italian label created on a mission to discover and repress classics and rare gems of the italo disco, afro and cosmic scene. With the support from all the main players who has made that era magic, we work to put back on records stores shelves a piece of art that may have been lost but it's still timeless. The first release is one of the key projects of the underground Italo Disco scene, probably not the most famous one, but surely it is among the most loved one by DJs and connoisseurs: Steel Mind.

'It was the end of the '70s and at that time Disco Music was very popular. I was in a band called Caelestium, and we were playing in the most important clubs in Italy…Around the beginning of the 80s, I started to feel the desire to make a different kind of sound and I decided to start my solo project creating songs like 'Boss Man' and 'Lionel' that were closer to the Krautrock style' recalls Piero Torsani, the producer behind this project.

These songs have become a cult for many djs, including Daniele Baldelli, Beppe Loda and Alexander Robotnick and they still sound contemporary. The Tempo Dischi collective is responsible of a club friendly edit of 'Boss Man'. And after a deeper search into Pietro Torsani's original music archive, an unreleased track has surfaced we could not resist to give to the world: 'Summer in The City' featuring the voice of Marisa Lucà , at that time singer of Caelestium.

A new year means new musical horizons here at the Bordello. Curses formed his sound in the distortion and sweat of back alley dive bar bars amidst the crash of guitars and the audible gulp of beer. Hints of disco and wave balance this rougher edge, smoothing down those creased lines for a style that adheres to no boundaries. 'Pedal To The Metal And Don't Look Back' is a perfect introduction to Curses' multifaceted sound. Beats orbit burbling bass and brash strings in a work of dreamy hypnotics. 'Knife in Teeth' comes from a similarly shadowy lair. Dark bars are further inked by industrial percussion in a track born on the factory floor to strict EBM parents. Terr takes on 'Pedal To The Metal And Don't Look Back' and does the original proud. Bass rumbles to the tune of a guttering engine before lighter notes take hold. Murky currents are cleared by bright synth blasts in this uplifting remake. The Bird of Paradise closes the EP with his psychedelic take on 'Knife in Teeth.' Drums take on a more sinister tone as tribal rhythms give rise to jungle imagery and the immediate threat of what might lurk behind those supposedly innocent sounds.

Based in Colombia's capital Bogota, Felipe Gordon is an artist on a very rapid ascent. He is one of the champions of the Colombian house movement effortlessly fusing complex sound combinations from Jazz samples to flowing pianos and acid bass lines into hugely exciting house records. It's a sound which comes together perfectly to create tracks which have been moving dance-floors worldwide over the last couple of years. Felipe has already released a string of hugely well regarded tracks and worked on remixes for some of the coolest labels out there including Toy Tonics, Quintesentials, S3A and his own Nómada Records. We are happy he contributed 4 amazing tracks for Shir Khan's Vinyl Black Jukebox Series.

Jules Etienne is back on Cocktail d'Amore Music with Triangle Des Bermudas.Referencing the legendary region in the Western part of the North Atlantic Ocean, this EP opens up to a mysterious space of adventure and discovery.The title track is a down tempo, balearic, and mystical ballad. Sounding like a ship moving slowly, but fiercely toward unexplored territories. The toms resemble a voice coming up from the depth of the sea, the pads like fluffy clouds reflecting off the waves. Massimiliano Pagliara is on remix duty, blowing on the sails and taking the ship into a cosmic expedition. This is deep and dreamy house music with cascading string lines combining effortlessly with hypnotic drums.
A driving arpeggio melts sweet and delicate with celestial strings, dreamlike vocals and breezy percussions in Cuban Omelette. While John's Job is a vivid dialogue between hand percussions, echoed toms and a sturdy baseline.

August 2018: It's already been three years since Domenique Dumont made its entrance in the music world with a debut EP named Comme Ca. Despite a seemingly very quiet musical activity (the opening song to Antinote's compilation Five Years Of Loving Notes was the only song released by the band in 3 years) a few things have changed in-between these two summers: Domenique Dumont is no more the mysterious lone French producer we introduced last time but a Latvian duo, Arturs Liepins and Anete Stuce, which has been collaborating with 'an enigmatic French artist whose existence cannot be confirmed nor denied' (sorry, but it sounds like there's still some mystery in the air, and, again, we're just as clueless as you might be), the duo have been touring live and, most importantly, they kept on broadening their musical palette experimenting in a definitely pop field. Eight of these experiments are now tied together in Miniatures de Auto Rhythm.

The record probably begins where Comme Ca ended: frantic but light drum programing backbones a solar and slightly melancholic melody on Le Début De La Fin ('the beginning of the end'). However, the scope gets enlarged as soon as one reaches the second tune, Quasi Quasi, or Quand, on the flip side, perhaps the most overtly pop-rock oriented song on the record with its Mediterranean guitar and emotional bridge.

The road towards the apex of the record, Le Soleil Dans Le Monde, is a narrow and windy one, punctuated by toy instrumentals like Ono Mambo Haiku or the Donkey Kong Country-friendly Message Of The Diving Bird; however it never departs from its original tongue-in-cheek attitude. It's quite pleasant to imagine these eight 'miniatures' as field recordings from an enchanted world of pop music designed by some Pierre & Gilles' disciples - or are there
musical interpretations of half-mechanical, half-organic creations from a certain Otto Rhiesem (who might have inhabited the Locus Solus villa) There might be no definitive answers to this second set of riddles by Domenique Dumont.

Born the 26th of October 1956 in Aïn Azel near the Algerian city of Sétif, Nordine Staïfi, real name Larbi Smati, was very young when he emigrated to the French Chambéry region.
After having recorded 'Sraoui' style songs, his real devotion as a singer took place in 1978 when publishing the song 'El Ghorba S'hiba', a disco version of a traditional East-Algerian piece. This song would revolutionize the modern Algerian music, and made Nordine one of its most important protagonists of the 1980s.
For nearly ten years he dedicated himself to the modernization of his music, traversed by the themes of exile, love and the nostalgia of his country.
Nordine Staïfi died prematurely on December 17th 1989 in France, at the age of 33.

Four new tracks, offering various perspectives on Dukwa's taste for squeezing that last bit of juice out of a sample that brings to mind Carl Craig's Paperclip People project and Thomas Bangalters Trax On Da Rocks series.His devil may care one take approach to recording his tracks always ensures you're in for some wildness - stray frequencies, the random attack of the 303, extra heavy kicks all play a role here.
However making grayscale festival fodder house is not Dukwas thing. This is music made on raw intuition and a timely reminder that house and techno in 2018 can still be fun and full of surprises if you put your back into it.
