Hot on the heels of his recent LP 'Social Housing' - the Berlin based artist lines up 'Doornroosje', a tight a two-tracker that remains consistent with his output on Aus: dancefloor-focused jams suffused with simplicity and soul. 'Discopuss' kicks things off with a potent combination of samples and hardware as sassy Funk samples are propelled by tough crunching drums. Copenhagen's Music For Dreams continue their string of pearls in 2016 with the 12' release of Apiento & LX's DISH.
At the request of cutting edge Danish designer Trine Lindegaard, Paul Byrne (aka Apiento) created this music to accompany her DISH project - a playful fusion of food, fashion and art - when it premiered at 2016 Copenhagen Fashion Week. For the project, Lindegaard worked with members of integration organization ITMV in Copenhagen to produce clothing items based on their favourite food dishes, Apiento and regular collaborator UK-based house producer LX, used the recorded interviews of their discussions as raw material with cut-up samples of the women's voices woven into the music for the runway show.
The result is an ethereal and avant-garde mix of crisp beats and featherlight percussion blended in a fresh and modern Oriental-flavoured Balearic groove packed with gorgeous flutes and kalimbas. The powerful dub on the flip-side brings a heavier more trippy feel geared firmly for the dancefloor.
As well as a string of great remixes and edits as Apiento, Paul Byrne is also well known for his behind-the-scenes work with labels like Junior Boy's Own, International Feel and DEEWEE, and for his highly influential blog Test Pressing.

Larry Levan's name is synonymous with contemporary dance music culture, his contributions are widely noted in many books and documentaries and in the memories of the lucky people who got to experience his phenomenal DJ sets at the now legendary Paradise Garage in NYC throughout the late 70's until the late 80's. His name is still mentioned with reverence today and he is listed as an influence by countless DJs and artists across the world.
Not only did Larry hold down a residency at one of the finest clubs on the planet with his impeccable selecting and DJ-ing skills for a decade, he also lent his expert ear to many remixing jobs and production sessions, adding his touch to a slew of classic dance records that encapsulated the era; Tanaa Gardner "Heartbeat", NYC Peech Boys "Don't Make Me Wait", Esther Williams "I'll Be Your Pleasure", Gwen Guthrie "Seventh Heaven" and Loose Joints "Is It All Over My Face" to name a select few.
It is Larry's peerless tastes that form the basis of the second volume of the 2003 Japanese CD only Salsoul records compilation. Compiled by Hisa Ishioka of King Street Sounds / Nite Grooves and consisting of some all time classics dug deep from within Salsoul's vast archives. The tracks included here got regular airings on the dance-floor of the Paradise Garage and helped to form the basis of and inspire the subsequent House and Techno movements in the years following the closure of the club and Larrys' tragic passing.
This second volume features another slew of essential tracks from back in the day with classic artists like Skyy, Candido, Instant Funk & Loletta Holloway all featuring. What we feel for Max Graef might just be our biggest man-crush ever.
We came across his music through his own label 'Box aus Holz' and we're just as stoked as he is to have him as our second release. The A1 track 'Jungle' (with multi-talented his Ozzie pen pal Andy Hart) is probably the most sought after track of our sets lately and has caused quite a flow of emails ("what the hell is this)_after our Boiler room set. It's got that ass-shaking groove without being a regular four to the floor banger. It rather creeps up from behind with some perfectly sampled scats and a cool duet of cowbells and stabs. Add some funky jungle effects and you've got a track that's stuck in your head for the rest of the day On the B-side, we've got 'Ignorance is Bliss". This track is exactly what we love about modern day deephouse. It's got a rough warehouse vibe on the lows, a hint of disco and a set of 'rhodesy' keys running through the track to set the mood. 'Zitze' is the last track of the EP with layers and layers of vocals, textures and keys taking turns and a great shuffle that runs through the track that makes it just as much a good listen, as a dancefloor jam. Available on limited edition triple vinyl (via DJ specialty shops) this is a compilation of nine tracks remixed (between 1979 and 1982) by Larry Levan, the DJ behind New York's famously influential nightclub, The Paradise Garage. Levan is a producer and remixer who, though he died in 1992, continues to be cited as one of the industry's greatest and most revered. Each of the nine individual full-length tracks was DIGITALLY REMASTERED specifically for this project. The sound quality is brilliant! The compilation comes complete with comprehensive liner notes giving the label's history, its relationship with Levan and anecdotes about each of the nine remixes and how each came about.

As Claremont 56 speeds towards its' ten-year anniversary, label founder Paul Murphy continues to champion little known producers and previously unheard artists. Over the past 12 months, the label has showcased material from rising talents
such as Bella Figura, Simon Peter, Paraiso and Oma & Amberfame. Now, Claremont 56 is adding another new name to the roster: Statues. Essex-based trio Bradley Lucke (production/bass/percussion/keys), Mark Crooks (keys/production) and Grant Carruthers (vocals/guitar) has been making music on-and-off together since they were teenagers, and last year decided to come together under the Statues alias. They submitted a number of demos to Paul Murphy, who was so impressed by what he heard that he offered to help produce and write an album with them. As debut singles go, 'Alaula' is stunning. Reminiscent of many softly spun
moments from the Claremont 56 back catalogue, it builds slowly and breezily via subtle waves of organic and electronic instrumentation. Carruthers' impassioned vocals pop in and out of the mix at opportune moments, peeping above alluring acoustic guitar, bass, synthesizer and Rhodes parts. Throw in
tumbling, life-affrming piano lines and swelling cello parts - both provided by friend-of- the-family Robin Lee of Faze Action - and you've got another near- perfect chunk of sunset-friendly, horizontal brilliance. On the fip, Murphy dons his familiar Mudd alias to provide a superb Piano Dub. Building the action around a sparse, delay-laden percussion track, Murphy teases out the track's most potent moments, in the process creating something
that lingers even longer in the memory. Lee's superb piano and cello work naturally takes pride of place, as Murphy expertly emphasizes the track's impeccably atmospheric nature.

'This Is How It Started' focuses heavily on the early days of the Chicago sound, especially in the formative years at Ron Hardy's Music Box.
Following Chicago's Disco Demolition Night in 1979 the genre's popularity fell dramatically, hence fewer disco records being released.In this era Chicago's DJs such as Hot Mix 5, Hardy, Knuckles & Jesse Saunders played a variety of styles mixing in Italo, electronic pop music, electro-funk and older disco joints often playing their own edits which focusing on the portions of the songs which always rocked the dancefloor. At the end of 1982, when
DJ Frankie Knuckles left the Warehouse to open the Power Plant, Ron Hardy started to DJ at the Warehouse's new location until owner Robert Williams renamed it The Music Box. In 1984, a local label released a 12-inch single called "On and On" by locals Jesse Saunders & Vince Lawrence who had simple made the song in order to replace a record which had been stolen from Saunders' collection, the "On & On" bootleg disco megamix by Mach. Hence Chicago House Music was born and a modern day phenomenon followed.
The direction of this new compilation was to delve deeper into the early sound that fired Ron's eclectic vision and to harness this within todays scene, bringing in not only artists from the original Chicago era but also the DJ & producers who have been influenced by those halcyon days.

Gerd Janson and Phillip Lauer are creatures of habit. Every week, the two club veterans meet up at Phillip's studio and spend an entire day making tunes. And while Gerd often likes to joke that his role in the arrangement is limited to making coffee and looking at his cell phone, it's clear that the two men have forged a potent partnership, one that's been responsible for an astonishing amount of dancefloor heat over the past few years.
Incredibly, this German pair has managed to maintain a relatively low profile, despite the steady stream of music they've released via well-respected labels like Unterton, Delsin, Internasjonal, Permanent Vacation and Live at Robert Johnson. And then there are the remixes—Azari & III, Scuba, The Juan Maclean, Fort Romeau, Avalon Emerson, Massimiliano Pagliara and Sinkane are just a small sampling of the artists who've enlisted Tuff City Kids to work their studio magic.
Throughout it all, there have been whispers of a proper Tuff City Kids album, and now that Adoldesscent has arrived, it will be all but impossible for the duo to linger in the background. After all, the LP is anything but shy—thanks in part to hooky vocal turns from the likes of Annie, Joe Goddard, Kelley Polar and Jasnau—and even the album's instrumental cuts
feature some clear nods to various eras of dance-pop, from the
boogie-inflected funk of Wake People' to the breakbeat techno of Boilered' and the tweaky rave nostalgia of Nordo.' Elsewhere,
first single Labyrinth' is an infectious bit of new wave, while the
guitar-driven Scared' recalls the gloomier side of '80s pop and
Tell Me' is perhaps the record's most playfully soulful moment.
DJs will likely gravitate toward the darting strings of Aska' and
breezy vibes of Farewell House,' yet Adoldesscent isn't entirely
focused on the dancefloor. Dreamy opener Ophmar' evokes the legacy of John Carpenter, while the crunchy R-Mancer' offers up a sort of psychedelic synth freakout.
Much like the Tuff City Kids themselves, Adoldesscent isn't about any one style or sound in particular. It is, however, a cohesive effort, along with proof that the different corners of the electronic spectrum have a lot more in common than we'd all like to admit. More importantly, it's a whole lot of fun, and isn't that what dance music is supposed to be about anyways

Well well well, what have we here then The folk from KAT come up with a might nice surprise brining us a name we haven't seen or heard for a good while, Domu. Domu is a name synonymous with the Broken beat scene (still bubbling away folks) and everything he touched oozed pure quality. No exception here with a couple of big re-edits that are taken from the Japa-nese only release (and uber rare) ESP DJ Classics Vol 2: Domu's Disco Jazz released back in 2009. The Emotions, Love Vibes has been sampled a good few times before, a couple of re-edits have reared their heads but none go anywhere near Domu's wonderful take on this Jazz Funker. The tempo is taken up a notch or three, we have an arrangement to die for and just listen out for the filters - cheeky! On the flip we have a mighty edit of Claudia Barry's Give it Up, originally out in 1978 and taken from the 'I Wanna Be Loved By You' album. Funked up Disco with a killer groove, raunchy guitars and aching sassy vocals to boot. So good to see this finally out on vinyl.

hip house party anthems sounds a bit cheesy but this is exactly what the tracks do when played on a proper sound system. these tracks were never meant to be released and could
only be heard on the floor at the right place at the right time. But since reactions were always so overwhelming these tracks are now released for everybody to enjoy.
the a-side features original tracks from amsterdam cool kid tommy theo (this is his first release)and label founders l'atelier. The b-side is filled with 2 stacy kidd remixes that fit right in.

"It all started in 1974 with the purchase of my first Mini Moog and another 70's dream machine, a white Mellotron M 400." So starts Klaus Hoffmann of his 40 years love affair with the Mellotron. Moving from Prog-Rock guitarist to Cosmic Disco warrior in a space of a few years, the birth of Cosmic Hoffmann would lead to a number of classic Kosmiche albums through-out the 1980s. Before this though came Space-Disco. Initially recorded in 1978 after endless late night sessions exploring the new realms of this free form electronic music, the first incarnation was recorded live to tape for a failed film project. An uplifting spaced-out synth journey, it was the later reworked version that would go on to become the lost cult classic. With added disco syncopation taking the track into interstellar spheres, it appeared only as a flipside of Cosmic Hoffmann's first and last single, "Weltraumboogie", in 1982. Unfortunately the release did not make much impression at the time but has become highly sought-after for the more leftfield DJ and music lovers in the years since. Now fully licensed and remastered, the inclusion of the unreleased 1978 Original will be only add to the collectors dream.

Melbournian producer Mic Newman's Fantastic Man alias has been steadily building over the past few years. Having established himself through a handful of features on labels such as Wolf Music, Kolour LTD and Let's Play House between 2010 and 2013. The past year however, has been a more focused affair with releases only coming via his imprint Fine Choice Records. And this phase of consolidation has to be seen as a key turning point for the quality of his productions. Last year's 'Animal Language' EP turned out as a bushwhacking odyssey through the outback of a land called Amorhythmia. It was sold out instantly and has been periodically repressed after its release in May 2014. Earlier this year, the follow-up EP 'El Tropo' finally proved that his butterfly transition has been a more permanent steer for his musical direction. Love On the Rocks too has been steadily building over the past year, with a string of sold out records, which perfectly compliment one another; as the title track 'Dream Machine' ties in perfectly to Khidja's preceding New-Age objet d'art. Like an early-bird's waking chirps in-between fields dazed with morning dew and slight winds howling from above, the track slides into it's Proto-house inspired beats with a taste of some early nineties Progressive pads. A piano unravels when it's just about time to unzip the tent door and make a move for the meadows. 'Fountain Gate' merges the NYC Garage House feel of Sha-Lor's 'I'm In Love' with Jungle inspired snare fills and a timeless Acid line, a festival spacer to all expressive dancers in the hey. 'St Elmo's Theme' closes the circle for his recent Afro-oriented releases with saturated kicks guided by hypnotic drum patterns and some Xylophonic sparkle

Earlier this summer Mark Barrott released his second album on his infamous label International Feel. 'Sketches From An Island 2' continued in its quest to sketch a fresh and modern foundation for Balearic music and now is followed by interpretations from artists who are equally as bold. Barrott's music once again spoke to a diverse set of aficionados such as Pitchfork who stressed it was "an example of a sequel surpassing the original" and was even supported by the prestigious Financial Times.
The challenge of reworking the material firstly falls to CFCF, who released an acclaimed album on International Feel this year whilst also receiving a Grammy nomination for his remix work. Luis Delgado, member of highly influential spanish avant garde band Finis Africae takes a sublime shot at 'Over At Dieter's Place' and Domenique Dumont's stunning remix of 'Der Stern, Der Nie Vergeht' is nostalgic for an early Padilla record and his first 'new' material since being named one of Resident Advisor's best albums of last year. Finally Nu Guinea, a favourite of Gilles Peterson impress with their 70's Library music funk take on 'The Mysterious Island of Dr Nimm'.
Barrott is also reissuing the Gatefold Vinyl edition of the first Sketches from an Island album to mark the occasion and due to continued demand. He plays every Thursday at Hostel La Torre soundtracking the sunset until the end of September and also at the launch of the venue's first compilation album (compiled by Mark and Pete Gooding) on Wednesday 7th Sept alongside DJ Harvey.
