Coyote - Glide Time (180g Vinyl Lp)

Some two years in the making, Glide Time is the brand new studio album from Is It Balearic.. Recordings head boys Coyote. Eight tracks deep, this album sees Ampo and Timm Sure further perfect their approach to modern Balearica, ambling from moments of incandescent calm such as the expansive opening track "California Jam" and "Feel Beautiful" to euphoria inducing cuts like the chuggy "Swimming" and acid tinged "Break On Through". Look out for the guitar playing skills of Is It Balearic... Stalwart Max Essa too. It is indeed Time to Glide. Switch on and feel the new Balearic beat at its best.

Tristesse Contemporaine - Stay Golden

A stateless trio (Narumi is Japanese, Maïk is English, and Leo is Swedish), Tristesse Contemporaine chose Paris as their battleground. The sound of their first self-titled album, produced by Pilooski (Discodeine) in 2012, was immediately praised among the music scene and critics - raw and minimal, catchy yet mesmerizing, both poppy and spleen-heavy. Equally inspired by the ghosts of shoegaze, krautrock and Madchester, they aimed to write the soundtrack of an era that got lost into the nights. Songs like « I Didn't Know », « Daytime Nighttime », « In the Wake », or « Hell is Other People » set catwalks (Chanel) on fire along with the music press and live venues, as much in France (where they recently opened for Pulp at the Olympia) as elsewhere, including Russia and Eastern Europe.

After the Woodwork EP which announced the start of a new collaboration with the label Record Makers (and their original home, Dirty), Tristesse Contemporaine returns with a second album, Stay Golden, where the trio reaffirms with nine thrilling songs which stay close to the original DNA while daring to reveal new secrets of their identities. The uplifting pop of Fire, the abrasive rock I Do What I Want, through to the surgically precise house of Going Out, Stay Golden points the Tristesse Contemporaine projectors to the city skies as well as the twisted dance floors.

Coco Bin
24.07.2013

Jean Claude Gavri opened his digital label Coco Bin back in 2011, and set a new record of non less than 7 #1 digital releases on junodownload.com in less than one year.
After too many inquiries of vinyl DJs, Coco Bin Classics Vinyl Series is finally about to launch.
The series will gather some of JCG's top edits making them available on for the 1st time on vinyl, in fresh, uncompressed & compromised new master.
Number one in the series collects 4 massive JCG classic edits, as the title implies.
A1, "The Big Dub" is a piano house instrumental dub of Fleetwood Mac's "Big Love". It's a MASSIVE PEAKTIME WEAPON, and is being played heavily by Doc Martin, the Doc knows.
A2, "Playa", is JCG's instrumental of Chicago's street player. Heavy percussion and hands in the air vibes.
Speaking of hands in the air, A3, "Dancing With You" is JCG's take on Carrie Lucas' "Dance With You", famously used by Armand Van Helden as the foundation sample for his chart buster "You Don't Know Me". ". It's a solid & very effective instrumental.
A4, "Listen To The Music", is a raw interpretation of Claudja Barry's "Sweet Dynamite".
It's a simple, back to basics type of edit, mostly based on the instrumental bits of the original, with just the right amount of vocal relief

25.03.2013

We're getting close now for the release of Martin Brodin's debut album on MB Disco. This is actually the final one before we see the album coming out on March 29.
So what's it all about
Oh Yeah is a main room banger with storming guitars, bassline and vocals to match. If you sense a slight influence of I.N.X.S, well then you're right. On the flip side we bring in one of Belgium's finest, The Glimmers. They'reone of the artists that's been around longest in the so called Nu-Disco scene. They took the best parts of the original and added their trademark sound to it with a quicker tempo and a slightly edgier feel to it.

08.07.2013

Cutters Records are pleased to announce the debut vinyl release from their latest signing, the LA based artist KAUF. Since 2011 he has been honing his own dark twist on modern electronic music, with heavy drum production, dense, cinematic synth buildups and high-pitched, echo-laden vocals. His aesthetic lies somewhere in between the worlds of slow house, industrial dance and drony indie pop earning comparisons with the likes of CARIBOU, MATTHEW DEAR and TORO Y MOI.

An internet-only single caught the ears of Cut Copy's frontman Dan Whitford, who promptly signed him for a forthcoming EP, entitled AS MUCH AGAIN on Cutters Records. The first taste of this EP comes in the form of the Relocate 12", including remixes by Psychemagik, Nile Delta and Moons.

Kauf's 'RELOCATE' is an dark anthem for the late-night-slow-dance, featuring sparse metallic percussion, chugging synth bass and vocals drowning in a sea of reverb. PSYCHEMAGIK take this vibe and run with it for their 7 minute house tinged rework. Cutters' own NILE DELTA ups the energy with his signature acid-injection and MOONS (No Recordings) rounds out the release. Relocate and remixes will be available on 12" VINYL only, released 24 June on Cutters Records.

Night Stalker

05.09.2013

Odyssey - Legacy Remixes Edition

For the uninitiated, Odyssey are a band who thrived in the 1970s disco boom thanks to an insouciant blend of live funk, soul and Afro Caribbean rhythms. Recently Yam Who's ISM imprint embarked on the Legacy project, which will see the band get back together in the studio to record a new album that includes updated versions of past hits alongside new material. In addition to this, ISM have commissioned a number of remixes, with expertly selected knob twiddlers turning reimagining Odyssey material for contemporary dancefloors. On the first edition, "Native New Yorker" - the first true Odyssey smash hit - is given a thorough disco treatment from Ashley Beedle with his "Big Apple Uptown Story" rife with piano keys, funky guitars and soaring string sections. On the flip, two upbeat and feel good remixes of "Inside Out" from DJ Friction and PBR are both pure disco euphoria. Bells chime, vocals bounce and the irresistibly groovy bass keeps them well and truly alive.

Various - Attack The Dancefloor Volume Five

A1: An enduring but somewhat overlooked Joey Negro classic gets a stonking new mix from the Audiowhores, It's techy, it's deep, it's soulful and it will send the kids on the dance floor into spasms of crazyness previously unseen in a nightclub...

A2: The Boston based Italian known as J Paul Getto delivers his debut EP for ZR, Add in a Joey Negro Edit of the lead track "Love Today" and you've got another killer release for summer 2013 from Z Records.

B1: The Original Joey Negro mix of "Smile" was one of the biggest sellers for ZR in 2012, reaching the number 1 spot on Traxsource and hanging around the top 100 for most of the year. Now Kendra Cash's vocal anthem returns with some deeper electronic reworks courtesy of Shur-i-Kan.

B2; Hailing from Turin Italy Antonello Ferrari makes his début on ZR with the beautiful "Make Room For Me" featuring the voice of Jennifer Wallace. Label boss Dave Lee delivers an unashamedly musical full length disco workout, on which you can hear the influence of early 80s Prelude/West End in the boogie synths, clipped guitars and extended breakdowns.

If you like disco house this is the real deal!!

A & R Edits - Vol 1

A&R Edits

Vol 1

12inchAND001
UK / England
22.05.2013

Cutting his teeth on the UK bar DJ circuit with gigs six nights a week, as well as being a member of production duo Casio Social Club, Henry Greenwood has nurtured an understanding of the vital ingredients required for a killer dance floor groove. From the early days of breaking both the pause buttons on his family stereo system (whilst crafting his first reworks) to spinning alongside Derrick Carter at London's disco-flavoured club night Slide, Henry is carving a razor-sharp niche in the ever-evolving re-edits movement.

'Buffalo Dance', the opening statement of this new imprint, was a true labour of love: as anybody who has played with the 'Scratchapella' will know, it comes bundled with a frustratingly top-heavy drum kick, before stopping completely midway through the second verse. Henry pillaged every official remix that was released for the parts to his version, the Japanese 3" CD single being particularly useful, and thankfully the original producer's reluctance to share the full vocal was balanced by how many of the other elements feature in isolation on the remixes. Henry's beautifully crafted extension features the lingering familiarity of the original's two chord progression that ultimately gives way to the opening verse of Neneh Cherry's unforgettable vocal, a tip of the hat to the original track.

On the flip, Henry has revisited George Benson's 1977 single, 'Nature Boy', originally a Nat King Cole classic from 1948. It was a radio edit heard whilst driving that initially caught his attention, and, after hunting down the original cut, he looped up a prominent 8-bar section to forge an instrumental deep house burner. After some direction from Greg Wilson, and encouragement to reincorporate more of the vocal, his 'Voice of Nature' version was born, an early doors gem that has been a staple in Wilson's sets during recent times.

Aeroplane - We Can't Fly / Caramellas (cassius & Joakim Rmxs)

Whereas 'Superstar', 'Without Lies' and 'My Enemy' - the other singles from Aeroplane's highly acclaimed debut album "We Can't Fly" - all came accompanied by an exquisite remix package, both "We Can't Fly" and "Caramellas" never received any official remix treatment. Here's an end to that, and one with a bang. Two monster remixes from no other than Cassius and Joakim. From France with love. Joakim adds a dub of his remix for good measure.

What leads an individual to walk the often obsessive path of the crate digger Raiding filthy basements and

Tippy Toes - Tippy Toes

With Tippy Toes' eponymous debut EP, LPH not only puts out its first record by a previously-unreleased artist, but also delves into the world of pure, unadulterated out-of-the-box house music. The duo—comprised of friends Morgan Wiley, of Midnight Magic, and Abe Seiferth, an established and revered engineer—have been around in some way, shape, or form for a few years (originally comedian and musician Reggie Watts was their vocalist), but only settled into their current state sometime around the summer of last year. There are two halves to Tippy Toes: one revolves around live synth freak-out jams that can extend for hours; the other—seen vividly on the EP—focuses on them distilling those elements into five-to-seven-minute-long tracks suitable for at-home and club play.

With the first note of the kick-off track, 'Up and Up,' it's clear that Wiley and Seiferth are good-humored and keen on making music that's both endlessly enjoyable and deeply complex, nuanced. The boogie centers on a a few dueling bouncy basslines, Balearic synth washes, and tweaked-out acid licks. 'Swizzlestick' is a bit tougher, the bass thicker and denser. But the easy listening-style guitar hooks and spacey keyboard lines lighten it, allowing the song to float into the sky. With the last track on the A-side, 'La Parguera,' Tippy Toes remove drums from their production entirely to yield an enchanting, meditative song that evokes some of Tangerine Dream's trippier moments of the 70s.

On the flip, though, the vacation is over and the duo is back to business. 'The Naughty Dip' sounds exactly like you think it would—a noodling, delay- and reverb-heavy saunter that climaxes with one hell of a nasty drop. 'Under Toe,' a sharper, more deliberate body-mover, concludes the party by incorporating elements of the other four tunes into an epic grand finale, fireworks and all.

Ashley Beedle - Rocks ' Re-edits

A special treat for Record Store Day! We're delighted to release two classic Rock tunes which have never been on 12' ever and now both have the benefit of receiving spanking new Ashley Beedle re-edits, which take both tunes to another level.

Family's 'Burlesque', always one of the GREAT Funk/Rock classics, now gets re-booted into a tour-de-force of sonic wizardry with a 5.33 booming Ashley Beedle workout designed to shake the foundations of any room. From the second that Rob Townsend and John Wetton's drum and bass establishes the groove and Charlie Whitney's guitar riff kicks in we know we're in for a masterpiece Funk/Rock opus before Roger Chapman floors everyone with his best razor-gargling wailing ever. A masterpiece!

Appreciated in collector's circles and with Rolling Stones aficionados for decades, Ruth Copeland's incredible version of the Stone's "Gimme Shelter" has been many a DJ's 'secret weapon' for the last two decades. Ashley Beedle has weaved his magic again and produced 9 minute plus marathon workout which features such luminaries as bassist Billy 'Bass' Wilson, guitarist Eddie Hazel and keyboardist Bernie Worrell among many others. Has to be heard to be believed and the best way to do this is on this one-off 12 release!

02.09.2013

Following on from the RELOCATE 12" released earlier this month, comes an EP of 4 original tracks from Cutters Records' latest signing; KAUF.

The LA based artist has been honing his own dark twist on modern electronic music since 2011, with heavy drum production, dense, cinematic synth buildups and high-pitched, echo-laden vocals. His aesthetic lies somewhere in between the worlds of slow house, industrial dance and drony avant-pop earning comparisons with the likes of CARIBOU, MATTHEW DEAR and TORO Y MOI.

The AS MUCH AGAIN EP is KAUF's most substantial release to date and (much like the artwork) paints a dark, but distinctive picture of the man himself, as a unique and undeniable talent. The EP kicks off with two slow-building, hypnotic pop songs; IN TOW and THE CLOSEST. Then the energy switches up a notch with his percussion-heavy slow-dance anthem; RELOCATE. Things reach a climactic conclusion with the sun peaking over the horizon, but the party still in full swing as WHEN YOU'RE OUT unfurls it's snake-like arpeggiators and bewitching rhythm track, up to the heavens, then slowly back down to earth. Maybe it feels like dusk... or maybe it's more like dawn; it probably doesn't matter. AS MUCH AGAIN will be the perfect soundtrack.

29.08.2013

Since his last studio album in 2009 Baltimore native DJ Karizma has been constantly touring the globe bringing his inimitable DJ sets to the people of Earth. Having finally got the urge to go back into the studio sometime last year, Karizma locked himself away for six weeks as he got into his most creatively prolific spell for years. R2 Records are proud to announce the result of this endeavour - 'Wall Of Sound'.
Having submitted 43 tracks for this album, (we couldn't get him to stop making new tracks!) we finally honed, pruned and arranged the material into 3 varying formats: Double CD, Double Vinyl and Bonus Digital Album.

KEY SELLING POINTS:
· Double CD with 31 original tracks

· Featuring guest appearances by Osunlade, Rokaz & Sean McCabe
· Explores a variety of genres including House, Hip-Hop, Dub, Tech.

Manhooker & Snax - Based On Misunderstandings 07

The seventh episode of the Based On Misunderstanding series is true show-stopper: Last summer the ultra hot duo Manhooker (Tomasz - Guiddo' Switala and Sebastian - Mavin' Magassouba) digged itself together with Paul Bonomo aka Snax (Capatain Comatose) in its studio to record with - Cloud 9' a veritable late summer hit. Once their first 12inch on Ostgut Ton caused a burst of enthusiasm, the hype will be fuelled with this release. This is pop music at its best with lots of soul for the sophisticated dancefloor.
You can't think of a more appropriate remixer than Justus Köhncke for this sensitive tune. The Cologne based producer aims even more directly to the club, but doesn't takes the soul out of the track neither Snax' captivating piano solo. Another magnum opus in Köhnckes already superior portfolio of remixes. On the flipside we get a - Special Deal'. Here you can hear Snax' presence even more boldly. His affection for 80's electrofunk meets the adorable soul of Mavin's voice. Would - Cloud 9' not already bea stupendous stand-out track, you'd have to speak of a definite sure shot here. Airplay guaranteed!
For the - M1 Space Dub' version Manhooker used the legendary Patch #17, Organ 2 of the Korg M-1 (of Robin S' - Show Me Love' fame from 1990). Spreading this way some magic dust on the track to make it even deeper.
And then we have one of the best DJs from Brazil added to the game. Marcio Vermelho from Sao Paolo is by now widely across the borders of South America known for his stylistically confindent mix of Nu Disco, Boogie Funk and sentimental house. This on eright here is one of his first official remixes. It won't be his last one for sure!

Various - Tropical Island Ep

"Tropical Island EP" which is the first part in a series of records featuring the original sounds of FEED label heads Filip Johnsson, Emir Krkic, Erik Wikström and David Irigoyen. "Tropical Island EP" is a compilation that caters to most flavours, starting out with Wörkstrom's "Lambada", a pure and perfect decoction of the Balearic sound, followed by Name In Lights who toughen things up a bit with their raw, 303-driven aciddisco jam "Cave Man Dance". The flip side of "Tropical Island EP" offers Muslim Disco Club track "Balkanada", a rock-techno monster complete with wild percussions, psychedelic guitar licks and driving synth-arpeggios and David Irigoyen's great DJ-tool "Here Come The Planes" with a repetitive and hypnotizing vocal melody, pumping 808 beats and filtered synth chords.

MUSCLE TUFF is THE GYM's label compilation. Each artist took a different approach to create mind blowing workout music. This compilation proves that GYM aficionados can be melancholic and deeply existentialistic, meditating on the world's serious issues, while gently pumping iron.
THE GYM emerged out of an old circle of friends, throwing parties and DJing together, while slowly building their individual careers. It became a record label when co-owners Brandt Brauer Frick made their first steps in the music scene. Other GYM members include film & video producers, club curators and bodybuilders.
MUSCLE TUFF is a snapshot of the contributors' current state of mind. Eight of nine tracks have been produced exclusively for this compilation.
Berlin-based singer and producer Josa Peit opens with "Waste", a hypnotic soul sketch, her vocals beautifully fragile and intense, with analogue synths creating sonic Alice In Wonderland moments.
Brandt Brauer Frick play a fast and raw Techno track. One feels like working out in the jungle, or participating in a ritual worship of an archaic goddess. This time, they used only synths, as Juno-106, SH-101 or Nord Drums, and left piano and other acoustic instruments aside, contradicting their signature sound.
Offenbach-based Bodo Elsel delivers a radical old school approach, a bone dry one-take house miniature, crooning "I Can't Reset My Mind" in his unimitable sloppy style, over cascades of dry 707, 808 and SP12 beats and claps.
Copenhagen producer and long-time collaborator James Braun teams up with Dan M for "People Move", a slow burner of the kind that are truly hard to find and that take you from a low level into haunting ecstasy.
Next up is Berlin's 20 year-old house, bass and hiphop prodigy Max Graef, His exceptional musical skills came to the labels attention during an in-store gig at the legendary OYE RECORDS in Berlin. He is a unique talent and musically wise beyond his years. Enjoy 'Nr 3' and brace yourself for his upcoming 'Get Big Fast' EP on THE GYM.
For those who know THE GYM's former releases, it's evident that Dollkraut can't miss. The Dutch analogue sound wizard keeps on fascinating us with his golden touch for pop moments. "Catch My Soul" is an old pearl and one of Dollkraut's most housy tracks. As it has never been released on vinyl and has proven to be a long time GYM mover it had to be on MUSCLE TUFF.
THE GYM's brotherhood with Tartelet Records keeps on flourishing on Tartelet's label head Muff Deep's contribution: "Let's Go To The Gym"! It's hot & sweaty and it gets you. It sounds like a drunken Theo Parrish in a Honda, caught in a thunderstorm on his way to THE GYM, trying to work the MPC. Kind of.
One of the clubbiest tracks on the album is supplied by Freude am Tanzen and BPitch boy Douglas Greed, whose straight and no-bullshit techno track "Raw And Order" leads from agitating percussion into synth madness, GYM music at its purest. On its finishing track, MUSCLE TUFF opens up into the glamorous new wave disco world of the mysterious Frenchman Bernard Crochet. He is an almost entirely unknown face to the
electronic music scene, except for his 2012 debut with Dollkraut. We know nothing about him, and it's hard to situate him in any context in 2013. One thing is certain, he has access to some crazy rare vintage gear and he's not afraid of big emotions!
MUSCLE TUFF!

Brasstronaut - Opportunity

Brasstronaut, a band 6 piece from Vancouver, caught the ear of Tom Millionhands when he came across their track on Feel My Bicep some two years ago. Opportunity channels the loose discoid funk of ESG & Hercules & Love Affair.

Jacques Renault needs little introduction. His Let's Play House imprint is riding high on the house wave. His remix hisses and crackles with tension.
Sounding like the result off like Wildpitch era DJ Pierre and Hercules & Love Affair jam session.

O F F M S G are back with at hird vinyl outing in as many months. (With earlier records going for £50 a pop on discogs!!)
Their remix is in an analogue beast, brimming with undulating Juno, loose piano and spiced with extra vocals from MH newbie Hadi.
Coming off like early Marshall Jefferson / Jungle Wonz record.

Eskimo presents 'Swimming', the debut release from Holy Models.

James Curd, Adam Frawley and Mitchell van Kaathoven aka Holy Models are a 3 piece Psychedelic Daytime Disco band hailing from outback South Australia. Their work transports the listener into a dream type state, yet rendering them fully conscious. Their genre bending style allows the user to explore a variety of different feelings. 'Swimming' is a textbook example.

Earlier this year, we had the pleasure of releasing Freeform Five's comeback EP 'Weltareh' on Eskimo. Today we are more than glad to present you the first Freeform Five Reform in a looong time. Big!

Fellow Aussie Rocco Raimundo delivers a trippy version that is tailor made for a lazy afternoon at the poolside.

Swimming is the opening track from The Pink Collection, the first installment in a brand new Eskimo compilation series that will be out early September.
