!K7 are proud to announce the next single of Will Sauls moniker CLOSE. The new project sees Will step away from the deeper house and bass sounds that have characterised his own discography and the in#uential labels Aus and Simple he has run for the best part of the last decade. Will, has slowly seeped CLOSE into the public consciousness over the past 12 months with remixes of Fink, Little Dragon and Hot#ush boss Scuba (as coproduced with TANSTAAFL boss Julian October Smith).
Wall#ower features remixes from US producer Kyle Hall, UK producer Huxley and Swiss producer Deetron. Kyle Hall brings a Detroit twist to the release recording his mix live, whilst Huxley introduces a deeper vibe to the package, whereas Deetron delivers a house remix to round off the release with all bases covered.

In this era of Nü-Disco, Space Disco, Cosmic Disco, Disco House and shit, there must be a beacon of quality to light the way and lead the faithful back to a place where good grooves matter and realness is holding court.
Let the labels fall and just get it movin'.

REPRESS ALERT: With just one 7" release to their name in the form of the 1981 release, Jive Baby On A Saturday Night, the cult of The Jellies was possibly accidentally assured with the long lost song being rediscovered by collectors and championed by Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore no less. Picked up and reissued by the stellar Trunk Records in 2010, the B-side cut, however, was sadly overlooked. Now Emotional Rescue are proud to license The Conversation and remaster it especially for this rerelease. Based around a simple drum and bass rhythm, interspersed with crowd noise, playful female vocal yelps and sprinkled with dub effects thrown in to the mix and you wouldn't probably think too much would be going for a track that the band put together in the last two hours of their studio time after Jive Baby had been completed. However, what you get is a killer gem of pop-punk-dub oddness that gets your head nodding to its infectious, repetitive rhythm laden with effects. With just this one (perfect) track available for license it seemed only right to hand it over to the in-house production team, Apophenia, to do their increasingly trademark dubbed out reworking, this time in the form of a true, but respectful "Version" for the flip. With both members of The Jellies sadly now living overseas this piece of early '80s British dub as it were, can now be fully treasured for posterity while also, proving a nice little smokers delight.

"Tembezi" is a richly textured, intricate afro house track with emotive, melancholic piano improvisations backed by a solid jumping beat to get your feet itchy. Prins Thomas slows down the tempo for a rootsier jam with additional live guitar and bass improvisations. Detroit master and "three chairs" member Marcellus Pittman takes us on a bumpier night ride built around a funky synth melody and pushed along by a short looped and dubbed piano part that delicately changes in placement and tempo - please don't stop, keep driving on forever!

Andrew Clarke - whose been making an impact with a selection of cuts on labels like Audio Parallax & Chopshop - wraps it all up with a truly amazing rework, managing to retain all the stunning musicality of the original, but elevating the elements to euphoric new heights.

German producer Erdbeerschnitzel is the next to get the nod for the house focused Delsin series with a new three track EP, 'Cushion'. The man born Tim Keiling has been forever hard to pin down, with releases that take in techno, disco and deep house on labels like Mirau and 4Lux. This new EP is no different...
The title track is a blissful, sunny day affair with raw, loose drums, trilling harmonies and a light fingered percussive touch that simply fills you with joy. Next track 'Am Bossele' is a more dense affair with layered samples of voices and off kilter percussion never really settling, instead they prickle and bustle in all directions and make for a lively listen.

Final track 'Crossroads' is a nine-minute workout that eventually makes way for a fizzing, slowed tempo melange of wiry synthesiser lines and clusters of wooden sounding percussion. The textures are both organic and synthetic and the counter between the two is what stands the track apart. An all important human touch comes from the mired vocal sample and once again proves Erdbeerschnitzel to be someone with a very unique voice.

Fresh out of Melbourne's reputed house scene, The Tortoise is one of the hottest talents to emerge from the current wave of house breaking down under. A Side 'The Puffing Tortoise' captures the 21-year-old's precocious talent and aims it squarely at the peak time. Working his trademark airy vocals around a familiar disco refrain and bubbling bass, he works the track into a sweaty climax and skilfully keeps it there throughout the midsection. Turning in a late night chugger on their remix, Berlin based Canadians The Mole and Hreno ride an insistent pulse and insect like percussion.

DiKSO return with their first Super Sound Single in 2013 with four new Dikso summer anthems for your hearts and bums.

Phantasy, the record label helmed by much-loved DJ/super-producer Erol Alkan, is pleased to welcome the inimitable Nadia Ksaiba to the fold with 'Virtual Lover', set for release on September TBC 2013.

Nadia Ksaiba is highly regarded for her well honed DJing skills, Rhythm Connection radio show on the ascendant Dalston station NTS and production work as G&S. Music has been in her life since she traded violin for guitar and some drums as a child, graduating through punky teen bands, producing primitive forms of dance music with the help of an Atari ST home computer and working in record shops from the age of fourteen. Later Nadia helmed Our Disco with the like minded Rory Phillips, which ran for five years and featured an array of high profile guests. The hugely popular Our Disco gave Ksaiba the platform to DJ further afield, including tours with Simian Mobile Disco and Klaxons, and festivals such as Bestival, Bugged Out Weekender and Stop Making Sense.

The urge to make music has remained with Nadia throughout, and first manifested itself in the G&S project she shares with Matt Waites. Together the pair have released a smattering of underground hits, notably on Andy Blake's seminal Dissident label, a contribution to fellow Phantasy alumni In Flagranti's 'Electric Fling' series, as well as an early gem on Disco Bloodbath's own label.

Nadia now joins the ranks of Daniel Avery, Connan Mockasin and Babe, Terror with her debut release on Phantasy, and it's a step that might surprise a few people as she steps into the forefront as a singer and songwriter. Hearing Nadia's cooing vocals over the rasping synth infused house of 'Virtual Lover' will stop many people in their tracks, but for a music obsessive like her it's the next logical step. It's a track that has Ksaiba and Waites fusing the dancefloor dynamic of Midnight Star with the pop of those life-affirming early Madonna singles, offering up an intriguing insight into the forthcoming debut album Ksaiba is currently working on.

'Virtual Lover' is backed with an out-and-out banger of a remix from Detroit electro-funk wunderkind Jimmy Edgar, who strips out some of the sweetness of the original for an altogether darker, late night take.

KIWI's 'Llama' is a much more straight up offering
than the label's first 12', the epic "Heal" from label
head Congreave (which received support from
Radio 1 DJs Annie Mac, Heidi and Rob da Bank, as
well as widespread club and blog recognition). The
EP's title track, a classic slice of italo-house, was a
staple in Savidge's Australian tour at the turn of the
year - and seeing first-hand the overwhelming
reactions it received from small basement clubs to
festival main stages made it a no-brainer for him to
snap up for the label.
KIWI, meanwhile, has continued to win admirers as
established as Erol Alkan and Andrew Weatherall
(who both included his music in their recent BBC 6
Mixes), with further support coming from the likes of
Ewan Pearson and Daniel Avery. All this has
cemented itself with a booking at London's
prestigious Field Day festival, despite still having
released no original material to date.

April 2013 sees the release of Norwegian Disco Viking Rune Linbaek's latest long player, on his Drum Island label

The influence of Norway on the world's forward thinking Disco scene & beyond is more than evident, with countrymen like Todd Terje, Prins Thomas and Hans Peter Lindstrom
all leading the charge for years now. The creative cauldron of the infamous 'club in a public toilet' Skansen has much to answer for !

Krasava is a very much vocal led project, with a cast of featured vocalists which includes Norwegian popstar Anneli Drecker alongside recent collaborator Øyvind Blikstad.
The album is steeped in Norwegian folklore, visually and musically and the gentle lilt of the Norse/Balearic sound, sits comfortably alongside more Cosmic flavours, Rock and beautifully crafted pop.

Part 2 of the compilation series inspired by Pop Art artist Charles Wilp. The album features 8 extremely wanted cosmic, psychedelic disco productions from the 1970's and 1980's. Kristian Schultze's - Zyklonentanz' is a Captain Future styled disco tune from 1980, never commercially released before. If there's one man who appears to possess the answer - or who at least has access to the secret vault where the formula's kept - it's Nail.

Also known as Neil Tolliday, Nottingham-based Nail created an entire universe of gentle loveliness as one half of the celebrated downtempo duo Bent; however, after ten years of Bent success, he's recently returned to the house music he loves, delivering a series of lessons in how to make fresh-tasting house that still has that certain classic 'something' - the ingredient X that keeps dancefloors bouncing.
Nail's latest selection is the Yonks EP on Sheffield label Shabby Doll.

Following up the recent Donks four-tracker on the same label, his new tunes are a house masterclass - they're melodic and uplifting, yet also hedonistic and tough.

About Nail Nail, aka Neil Tolliday, is based in Nottingham, but has toured globally as a member of Bent, as a DJ and as a producer in his own right. He has worked with collaborators including Jon Marsh, Sian Evans and Katty Heath, and recorded for labels including Sport, Open, DIY and Classic Music Company.

Top drawer music from an ever dependable label

Is it Balearic drop a 10' slice of acid house perfection from one of the true masters of the genre in 'Foolish' Felix Dickinson! "Ousana" grows slowly over a driving house beat as warm synth pads and synth leads take the track along nicely with a subtle acid line until the bassline drops. A vocal refrain joins the groove seductively cooing 'I want to take you home' over the acid layers that develop in deeply hypnotic fashion. Straight into the basement. On the flip Coyote take the tempo down, bring out the percussion and create a Balearic acid stomper. Bleeps dubbed out vocals all swirl around the percussive rhythms then the acid line drops subtle and reminiscent of a certain acid house classic. Early doors or at the beach bar for this mix.

As always at Motorik and Death Strobe, quality control is of the upmost importance so only the best were brought in to rework the track - the all star lineup includes C.O.M.B.I. edit extraordinaire Eric "Dr Dunks" Duncan (also of Rub N Tug/Still Going/DFA fame), breezy synth wizards Eric Omen and a particularly weaponised 3AM version by the CSMNT61 lads themselves.

For the next installment of Manc institution El Diablo's Social Club's 'To Rack & Ruin' edits series comes from local Manc lads Out of the Basement who bring us two late summer bombs.
These tracks have both been kicking around for over a year now in slightly different forms but now we bring them to you fully refined and suitably mastered heavily for the dancefloor.

Out of the Basement are Steve Leggat and James Ellis. Both have been involved in Manchesters' colourful music scene - amongst other things Steve has been running Manchesters legendary Beat Club with The Stone Roses Mani and James is the founder of Manchesters now defunct deep house label 'Drenched'.
Side A is a splendid edit of lost soul classic with beats and instruments added for full effect.
Side B is a sleazy slo mo cut up of the Brothers Johnson version of the Shuggie Otis anthem Strawberry Letter 23.

Hand Sprayed - Limited 12"

The Emperor Machine aka Andy Meecham is slowly re-emerging ahead of a full on return to the scene in the coming months. Following on from this latest missive on Southern Fried Records (which comes complete with a trio of Ewan Pearson remixes) 2014 will mark a return to DJing for Andy, followed by a full-length album and a brand new live show.

A key collaborator in all this, featuring on a number of album tracks and at the forthcoming live dates, is the hugely talented London vocalist Michelle Bee. Bee is someone with whom The Emperor has worked before and someone who helps raise his productions to the next level. On top of all that, the bona-fide gear head that is Andy Meecham is also working on the Future Four project with Erol Alkan, so fans have plenty to be excited about.

The first cut here, 'Hey' is a bristling brew of writhing synth lines, pixelated melodies and quick-licked disco beats that dazzle as much as they drive. Vamping chords bring the tension and frantically arp'ed melodies bring plenty of colour whilst the anthemic vocal cries from Michelle Bee help finish this off as a sure-fire dancefloor destroyer.

As well as a dub version, Ewan Pearson wades in with his own Skronk Disco Mix. It's just as overloaded a track. Layered up with squiggling machines, but there's a more direct urgency and psychedelic curiousness to this version. It also has some stunning sax moments courtesy of guest musician Gave from The Rapture who delivers a performance that really sticks out and lodges the track firmly in your brain. A dub of the same track is also included, as is a dubstramental that's just as dizzying and colourful.

The Emperor Machine then steps up once more with 'Mandy Mutron', which sees him marry big dirty guitar licks to smaller, funkier, tighter riffs and a dubby undercurrent. The results are inescapably and infectiously funky and come laced up with trademark sci-fi synth craziness to ensure maximum impact on the dancefloor. This is another fine product from The Emperor Machine that more than whets the appetite for what is to come from him in the months ahead.

To fans of futuristic dance music, Parisian house hitmakers Daft Punk collaborating with Neptunes producer and singer Pharrell Williams is the stuff wet dreams are made of. No need to pinch yourself, though—if I'm writing this and you're reading it, we can mutually assume that it's a (wet) reality. With that said, GetLucky is a bit of a departure from the headliners' usual sound; though their trademark old-school synths and vocoder are present and accounted for, the heavy use of live instrumentation (including guitar by Nile Rodgers of Chic) imbues the joint with a surprisingly loose, funky feel. Pharrell's effervescent verses, which narrate a blossoming romance, round out the package. Random Access Memories, Daft Punk's first album proper since '05's Human After All, is scheduled to drop Stateside May 21, via Columbia Records.

After the recent success of their expansive debut full length on Idle Hands and while they bask in the glory of their recently well received Resident Advisor podcast, Jacob Hodge and Matt Lambert push on with a new EP on Bristol's Futureboogie. To date Outboxx have fomented their own ebullient house style that is imbued with a keen sense of uplifting melody, plenty of analogue dust and some heavyweight bass, largely on Bristol based labels, and this new EP sees them continue in that fine form.
The EP kicks off with 'The Fade', a lively deep house cut with sandy hi hats and harmonic melody hits that surfs and skips with a subtle but sensuous energy. Growing increasingly garage in style as it rolls on, chopped up vocal patches add more oomph before 'Rikkies Groove' gets nimble within its authentically aged house framework. Serene and golden pads twist and turn behind frazzled melody stabs and twinkly colours add that late night feel Outboxx are such masters at evoking.
'Letting Go' is more in line with the downbeat trip-hop that made up the latter half of their debut: the glowing vocals of regular collaborator Naomi drift between loose drum hits, scattered beats and genuinely jazzy melody motifs. The results are inescapably dreamy and delightful.
Finally, 'Need You' is a cavernous construct of echoing claps and buried deep kicks that swells and subsides, implodes and explodes. The titles refrain is repeated over and over and bleeds seamlessly into the arrangements between big string sweeps, noodling horns and classic cymbal splashes.

Once again Outboxx prove that feel-good house music needn't be lowest common denominator or weak-ass house but that it instead can be as richly musical and artistic as any avant-movements.

Once again they blend the warm analogue sounds with a
dancefoor approach this time bringing in some vocals on 'Old
Models' that sit over a tight live drum beat and lush guitar work
locking us into a killer summer groove.
'Waiting For Beggi' gets a Balearic workout with more hazy
guitars, percussion and a rolling bassline.

What would the dance/club music scene be without Yello The Swiss avant-garde duo with so many stellar tracks under their belt. We all know songs like The Race, Oh Yeah and Vicious Games. The list can go on forever. Martin Brodin and Copycat decided to make some Nu-Disco edits of their uber cool, and one of their most famous tracks amongst dj's since the release back in 1981. They treated the original with lots love and gentle hands.

Bostich is the track and it created a stir on both sides of the Atlantic back then. A track like this had never been heard before. People simply went nuts on the dance floor. A true master piece if you ask us.

Yello has always been way ahead of their time and together with Kraftwerk, they're counted as one of the pioneers of electronic music.

E.A.R always pull something perfectly summery out of the bag just as the sun pokes it head from behind the clouds and with 'Mercado Viejo', it's no different.

This carnival style mood lifter is destined to have heads nodding and feet tapping in beach bars and around pools all over the world.
News has it that it is already heralding the summer season in Ibiza in a wonderfully cheerful way.
However, dig that tiny bit deeper and J.Cub's classy production skills are more than evident with an infectious beat just deep enough to give this track a dancefloor ready undertone. Clever stuff indeed.

On remix duties is Disco Deviance's Dicky Trisco - a name synonymous with nu-disco and electrofunk. His take on 'Mercado Viejo' enters a different dimension for a darker dancefloor. A driving chugging bass and some tweaky shooting bleeps and squeaks makes for a classy remix bound to set discos alight once the sun sets beyond the horizon.
Bonus tracks come in the shape of the jazz-tinged 'Take off your shoes' featuring some of the slickest horns heard in a long time and the wonderfully housey 'Baby Groove' clearly designed with dark and sexy nightclub grooving in mind.

The name 'Appennini' comes from the Italian mountains that split the country into two parts, but at the same time links Rome and Chieti where Rodion and Mammarella are from. The duo have an extensive collection of analog equipment which they have used to create the collection of tracks ranging from classic Roland Juno, Jupiter and Moog synthesizers, Oberheim & Veroma drum machines through to Roland Space Echo and Moogerfooger FX Units. 'Escape From Kyoto' opens the release, incorporating worldly percussion, a staggering arpeggiated bass hook and trippy lo-fi sonic tones creating a raw energetic movement. Subtle filter-modulation on the atmospheric elements make for a vacillating flow throughout the composition, while 80's style synthesizers are worked in to the break giving off an effortlessly cool retro vibe. The vintage feel is further brought to fruition by working back in the rugged arp-line in combination with a vocoded spoken-word, further fuelling the old school aesthetic. The 'Alien Alien Dub' version of 'Escape From Kyoto' strips back the more upfront feel of the original, giving off a slo-mo semblance. Intricate placements of big room reverb bursts and precise delays create an astonishing background depth. Bright synth stabs create a rolling melody, driving the track and invariably fluttering in pitch, to create an intense evolving feel. 'Majella' again captures the essence of Italo-Disco with an 8-bit electronica feel, rich synth lines full of depth play off each other, constructing delicate melodic intricacies in the arrangement.

Kinfolk head to Philly for Kinfolk004, welcoming committed vinyl rummager and top notch DJ Billy Werner into the fold. This two track 12" is the apparent end product of that rare occurrence where budding producer sends label unsigned tracks that are actually decent. "Kick & Flutter" is a blinky blue sunrise of a tune, innocent, euphoric and, dare we say, totally Balearic... not retro but timeless. "Where the sea meets the Stones" treads a similar line but with a more incessant acidic undertone. Both perfect for chasing sunrises and sunsets...
