What is an edit? A correction, a confession, a DJ tool, a mild act of vandalism—or simply the result of listening to somebody else’s record and thinking: very good, but what if this bit went on a little longer?
For his contribution to the Running Back Mastermix series, Gilles Aiken aka Edward opens a folder that has apparently been filling up for quite some time.
The Giegling resident’s thirteen edits reach back through years of DJing, collecting and producing. Made for sets rather than release schedules, they form something like a musical autobiography told through other people’s records: Carl Craig, Roman Flügel, Motohiko Hamase, Kirk Degiorgio, Aubrey, Sven Väth, Michael Rother and more.
From Japanese ambient jazz and Detroit techno to dub techno, house, trance and kosmische music, these are not attempts to improve records that didn’t need improving. They are the small interventions that happen after living with music for a long time: a rhythm exposed, an entrance moved, a passage extended, the unnecessary made necessary.
“These records mean a lot to me,” says Edward. “They consist of edits I’ve gathered over the years, some of them going way back. In a way, they reflect my musical journey. All of these artists have been a huge influence on me as a producer and DJ.”
Usually, such edits remain on hard drives, USB sticks and in vaguely labelled folders. This time permissions were requested, publishers located and, somewhere, presumably, a spreadsheet became very important.
Miraculously, everybody said yes.

Sean and Bohm’s Swedish–Dutch collaboration EP is a tribute to their shared love for the raw grooves of Chicago and Detroit house, with a subtle New York twist woven throughout. Ever-evolving Amsterdam duo ANOTR continue their forward momentum with the release of their highly anticipated third studio album, ‘Withness’, out via their own imprint No Art. Rooted firmly in dance music, ‘Withness’ sees the pair refine their sound into their most dance-floor focused and cohesive project to date.

Born during their global tour, ‘Withness’ was shaped in real time: written, tested and refined on dancefloors across the world. Following the expansive, genre-blurring approach of their 2025 LP ‘On A Trip’, the duo felt a pull back toward the club - not as a limitation, but as a unifying space. “We really wanted to have a wide variety of songs that we can play out and create moments,” they explain. “Every track needed to make sense wherever people come together to dance.”

Sonically, the album marks a clear evolution. Drawing from their early club roots while building on the songwriting confidence developed on their previous records, classic drum machines and 909 samples sit alongside warm, 80s-tinged textures, layered vocals and modern production techniques, creating a sound that feels both nostalgic and forward-thinking.

A key part of the process was spontaneity. The duo embraced a free-flowing, collaborative studio environment, often working with a rotating cast of contributors. Their now-signature “open mic” approach encouraged anyone in the room to experiment with melodies, lyrics and vocal ideas. This energy translates directly into the album’s standout moments. From the euphoric pull of ‘Withness’ to the groove-led ‘Do It With Ya’, the uplifting ‘Paradise’, each track is built to live beyond a single setting.

The LP comes at a timely moment, as their single ‘Talk To You ft. 54 Ultra’ has become the biggest global breakout dance single this year. Sitting firmly in Spotify’s Global Top 200, it has surpassed 175 million streams, and is currently No. 21 in the UK Singles Chart. Spotify have tipped it in their much-coveted global ‘Sound Of The Summer 2026’ list and other highlights include peaking at No. 7 in Shazam’s Global Chart, No.1 on Beatport Top 100 and gaining over 600M UGC views so far.

Love Song 28 is a landmark South African deep house track produced by Pretoria-born DJ and producer Jullian Gomes. Originally released as a single in 2011 featuring the soulful layered vocals of Bobby, the track established Gomes as a prominent figure in the global deep house scene. Smallville presents a very special album project – 'Tumbling Cycles' by Billus is here to stay! Ethereal deep-dubby house music from Australia, that feels like finding the hidden-treasure you were not even looking for.

„When I am most enjoying making music, I have this sense that I'm just watching cycles of sound happen and match up in front me on their own and I'm not really just doing anything and it's really nice. Most of these tracks stem from a small collection of
iteratively distorted percussive jazz and breaks that I kept coming back to and watching them cycle around each other.“

This is Billus' approach while he is out in the studio zone. As a result, we all get the chance to scuba-dive into his soundscapes like a warm blanket, interwoven rhythms and cosmic textures, that seem to have the ability to heal. The fresh feels was real,
every time the album went by.

Billus is praised for his impeccable mixtapes for a lot of very special occasions of doing not a lot- make sure to check these out. And Billus produces sprawling music- he released on Naarm labels Animalia, Vessel and Pollinate and he makes music to shyaway in the woods, picking up lil mushrooms if you feel like- or leave these untouched for the same effects.

So while listening to the Tumbling Cycles LP, make yourself comfy and try to work out your own personal scenario, in which Billus' music and his leftfield approach would flourish best. These tracks come with approval by the sweetest dancefloors

Ian Pooley returns with a brand-new collection of original productions, delivering exactly what you'd expect from one of house music's true craftsmen.
Road-tested throughout his recent live shows, these tracks have already proven themselves where it matters most: on the dancefloor. Staying faithful to his unmistakable MPC-driven approach, Ian delivers groove, feel and musical restraint in equal measure. Crisp drums, warm sampling, infectious basslines and subtle arrangements come together in a way that only he can deliver.
No overproduction, no unnecessary breakdowns, no gimmicks-just pure, functional house music built for DJs. Timeless, stripped-back and effortlessly effective, this is another reminder why Ian Pooley remains one of the genre's most respected producers.

Contrast EP splits into two sides, and the split is the point. Ittara takes the first side with Anticorps and Silent Waves, Jonas Xenon takes the second with 2010 and Wriezener Studies. What connects them is depth: mega deep techno and house, pushed into dubbish territory, built for dancing rather than for show. Kito Jempere has spent more than two decades building a universe of his own, with releases on Mule Musiq, DFA and other influential labels, alongside remixes from Ewan Pearson and others. With Other People’s Aesthetics, that universe finally opens outward. After years of protecting his own musical language, Kito lets the outside world in—embracing the sounds, artists and scenes that have shaped him, from house and techno to Aphex Twin, Warp, Ninja Tune and Omar-S. The result is a personal universe merging with the world beyond it. The album opens with “Change For Now,” a collaboration with longtime friend Lipelis (L.I.E.S., Public Possession, Running Back), marking a friendship that has grown over the past decade. “Teaser,” originally released on Mule Musiq, returns in a new album “Dub” version, with fewer vocals and a stronger garage-house feel—a direct statement of love for David Lynch. “OPA” looks back to Kito’s original half-jazz, half-drum’n’bass sound and the Uniquetunes era of the early 2000s, alongside the music he absorbed from CDs by Amon Tobin, Squarepusher, Skalpel and The Cinematic Orchestra. “Listens To Selected Ambient Works Once” is a direct homage to Aphex Twin, given a Warehouse-style treatment for bigger dancefloors. “I’m Not A Doctor, Either,” featuring mishinuki—previously heard on Green Monster in its Moloko homage—builds towards an epic, euphoric string finale. “Kobayashi Porcelain” closes the record by combining memories of Usual Suspects with Moby-like atmosphere and an Omar-S-type beat. Tour-Maubourg opens a new chapter with Alone Together, his own imprint created to explore multiple aliases and sonic directions under one creative umbrella. Inspired by the 90s classic house north american scene (MAW, Glenn Underground, Strictly Rhythm, Nu Groove, etc.), the label's first record, "It's Time EP", fuses Tour-Maubourg's classic signature sounds, jazz chords, MPC grooves, organic musicianship, and carefully chopped vocal samples in an old school and club-focused aesthetic.

Ultra Knites back with the Sensations EP. Four cuts of deep house, warm and dub tinged. Throughout, the mood stays warm and unhurried, favouring feel over force. This is deep house made with care, the kind of record that quietly holds a room together rather than demanding attention.

Stitched together from organic percussion, field recordings, and textures gathered from across the globe, Vikmatic’s most recent TSoNYC EP, co-produced with label head Danilo Braca, plays like a love letter to New York City, penned in the language of friends and family scattered across its boroughs. Rooted primarily in house, jazz, and Balearic sounds, but pulling just as freely from the sounds of Brazil, Africa, and India, Neighbors moves to the rhythm of a city swept up in the collective pulse of its most lively season.

Playful and minimalistic, “W4 Street” is a jazzy house track that adds a scintillatingly smooth, beachy flair to a nostalgic New York energy for a combination that leaves us unsure of what is improvised and what has been rehearsed to absolute mastery.

The EP’s second track, “Flushing”, represents a dramatic departure from the airiness of the previous one. Haunting and mysterious, with a leaden kick and a capricious synth, there is no question that we are finding ourselves in an entirely different neighborhood.

Early in the track, “Sunset Park” transforms from a deep rumbling into a catchy warm-weather groove with satiny synth layers, textured rhythm, and unhurried guitar and synth solos, evoking a sense of pure ease and beach season contentment.

Sultry and dream-like, “Harlem River Drive” is the ideal send-off for Neighbors, an album firmly situated in the living memory of an iconic urban summer. Warm and bittersweet, with woodwinds comprising the heart of its instrumentation, it’s not hard to picture a sunset in Upper Manhattan.

In the works for years, finally resurfaced from the depths of the sea, Unlimited Access getting the proper reissue including a fresh take on the sound by Vincent himself.

After a three-year hiatus, Downbeat returns with its 15th release, marking the very first Various Artists compilation in the label's history.

The A-side features the masterminds behind Tetrode, Damon Lamar and Specter, who deliver two tracks showcasing their signature sound. Machine house at a lower BPM, packed with repetitive Akai percussions and synth lines—gentler and warmer on Damon's track, and darker, more unhinged on Specter's side."

The B-side kicks off with label co-founder Jose Rico, who delivers "The Invaders," a track that transports us straight to the roots of the genre. This is textbook Chicago deep house—straightforward and infectious from the very first beat. Closing out the EP, Leonid makes his label debut with an emotional, Detroit-infused deep electronic gem, beautifully crafted with soft percussions, silky synths, and a subtle touch of epic grandeur. Infinite Search is the first label launched by Lifted Trax, and the beginning of a larger effort to highlight music coming out of Singapore and broader region.

Opening the release, June Jazzin delivers “Iksasa”, a 9-minute broken-beat journey that takes you deep into its rhythm and groove. With its extended arrangement and hypnotic flow, the track gives you the time and space to settle into the groove and let the music take you on a journey.

Track 2, June Jazzin returns with “Driver Step On It”, a driving house cut built to push the energy forward, lock into the groove and keep the dancefloor moving.

Closing the release, SculpturedMusic delivers “Sing My Blues Dub”, a 6-minute deep, rolling and groovy house journey layered with hypnotic rhythms and soulful energy.

Amsterdam based Malik Kassim & Cem Mo arrive on Cataleya Music with the diverse Breaking Clouds EP. With outings for the likes of Wolf Music and Love On The Rocks, Kassim made a name for himself with retro yet upfront House as Retromigration and now is focusing on making music as Malik Kassim. Cem Mo released the dreamy What Remains for Metro Beirut. They combine in style on the broken house groover that is Breaking Clouds. A cool flute, brass and smart keys do the work here alongside gliding percussion. A more intense remix comes from DJ Spinna where he tightens up the beats and gives the track the Galactic Soul treatment. Short Stay from Malik Kassim & Cem Mo is a fizzing Deep House effort with flying synths and underlaid keys. A great debut for the label!

With a string of singles and remixes plus an incredibile debut album under their belt, Musclecars have quickly become a creative force in the last few years.

Their originality and fresh musical approach it's eloquent in this debut EP for Neroli. Here they combine the futuristic afro-electronic suite 'Black Planet' with the liquid space-funk of 'Euphoria' until landing in sweet beatless territories with the "Cosmic' version of the title track!

Four track deep and dub leaning house record from Tom Ellis, built for groove over drama. Tom Ellis, four cuts, house built from the low end up. Daily Red Cocktail, loose kick, chords buried in reverb. Tram 28 next, steadier, more direct, a track for the middle of a set rather than the top. Pink Street Morning goes dubwise, echoes stretched out over a thin bassline. She Broke My Bongo shuts it down with live sounding percussion, no filler. Straightforward deep house record, nothing flashy, does its job on a proper system. Solid.

Freerange are repressing a limited amount of Volume One of 30 Years Of Freerange. Josh Wink, Ralph Session ft. Brandon Markell Holmes, Philippa, Palm Skin Productions, Nacho Marco & Lovebirds all step up with original music for the EP. Volume One includes the beautifully designed box which holds all five volumes of this landmark release.

What is an edit? A correction, a confession, a DJ tool, a mild act of vandalism—or simply the result of listening to somebody else’s record and thinking: very good, but what if this bit went on a little longer?
For his contribution to the Running Back Mastermix series, Gilles Aiken aka Edward opens a folder that has apparently been filling up for quite some time.
The Giegling resident’s thirteen edits reach back through years of DJing, collecting and producing. Made for sets rather than release schedules, they form something like a musical autobiography told through other people’s records: Carl Craig, Roman Flügel, Motohiko Hamase, Kirk Degiorgio, Aubrey, Sven Väth, Michael Rother and more.
From Japanese ambient jazz and Detroit techno to dub techno, house, trance and kosmische music, these are not attempts to improve records that didn’t need improving. They are the small interventions that happen after living with music for a long time: a rhythm exposed, an entrance moved, a passage extended, the unnecessary made necessary.
“These records mean a lot to me,” says Edward. “They consist of edits I’ve gathered over the years, some of them going way back. In a way, they reflect my musical journey. All of these artists have been a huge influence on me as a producer and DJ.”
Usually, such edits remain on hard drives, USB sticks and in vaguely labelled folders. This time permissions were requested, publishers located and, somewhere, presumably, a spreadsheet became very important.
Miraculously, everybody said yes.
Thirteen thank-you notes to the music that helped make Edward Edward. Naturally, they require three records.

The dream team is back! Borrowed Identity and his boyhood friend Mechanical Soul Brother have been doing hot sessions in their studio and the output is the fantastic „Return to yourself EP“. All tunes have a classic yet modern house flair. The A-side is full of groovy rhythms, deeeeeep basslines, splendid vocals and subtle acid lines - „just be yourself“ might even slightly recall Larry Heard/Mr. White’s „the sun can’t compare“! The club friendly b-side offers two versions of „point of no return“. The 2 am version has those old schoolish drums and some blissful sounds and voices, just the way we love it, whereas the 6am version is the more straight forward, catchy early morning groover. The Rurals first love is DEEP HOUSE!

Deepest Rurals E.P dives beneath the surface to explore the essence of The Rurals' unmistakable sound. Rich in soul, jazz-infused textures, and deep house sensibilities, this release delivers a collection of warm, organic grooves crafted with depth, elegance, and musical integrity.

Flowing effortlessly between atmospheric keys, fluid basslines, live instrumentation, and intricate rhythms, each track captures the timeless spirit of underground house music. Rebirth 10, a limited double CD released in 2016, celebrated the 10th anniversary of Rebirth Records. Curated by one of the greatest names in House Music, Larry Heard, aka Mr. Fingers, it featured key releases from the label's first decade.

Featuring original music and remixes from Larry Heard himself alongside further legends of the scene such as Motor City Drum Ensemble, Joe Clausell, Andrés, Jamie 3:26, Ripperton, and Mr Fingers himself. This compilation shines a light on forgotten classics from one of House Music’s most influential labels of the past 20 years. True house from THE house producer of the scene.

Alex Barbu – Paths Lead Inward marks Alex Barbu’s first release on Bosconi Records, following previous releases on Digital Finesse and Maeteria. Across four tracks, Paths Lead Inward explores the space between minimal, techno, deep house and psychedelic trance, combining stripped-back structures with hypnotic rhythms, dubby textures and subtle traces of Goa-inspired psychedelia.
The EP opens with A1. “Tokyo”, a straight-to-the-point dancefloor missile. A rolling bassline, delayed voices and a simple but highly effective rhythmic structure push the track towards trance territory, with hints of Goa psychedelia filtered through a minimal sensibility. Immediate, hypnotic and built to keep the floor moving.
A2. “2006” takes a darker and deeper turn. A dubbed-out minimal techno cut populated by subterranean sounds, blurred textures and distant voices. Its slow-burning atmosphere makes it particularly suited to the deeper, more intense moments of an afterhours set.
On the flip, B1. “Hello Everybody” brings a heavier deep-house pulse into the equation. Hypnotic arpeggios, deep vocal elements and a rolling groove give the track a physical, almost stomping quality, while maintaining the murky and psychedelic character running throughout the EP.
Closing the record, B2. “Blobfish” dives deepest of all. A heavy bassline anchors a strange and unsettling landscape of anxious breathing, dark textures and disorienting sounds. Hypnotic rather than aggressive, it gradually pulls the listener into an upside-down dimension — a proper late-night trip for losing yourself on the dancefloor.
Paths Lead Inward is not only about movement on the dancefloor, but about what happens underneath it. Four tracks that touch you deeper in the soul and make you reconnect with it.

Cyphon Recordings welcome DJ, producer, musician, and D.KO co-owner Flabaire for the fourth outing on the label.

At just 29, the Parisian artist, already has a fair share of victories under his belt. On his acclaimed D.KO imprint, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year, he’s released three albums and several EPs, as well as charting releases for Organic-Music, Deeppa Records and South Street.

For his next solo EP, he brings his beautifully affecting and nostalgic blend of electro, IDM, and deep house to Cyphon. Doing what he does best, Flabaire’s ‘Entre-Deux’ is an EP brimming with emotion and atmosphere. Pulling at the heartstrings, opener ‘In Between’ layers an electro beat over lush pads with iridescent synth lines rising out of the haze. Cowbells swing into action, pads swell and glisten, making way for a squelchy 303 to bubble underneath.

‘No Minding’ moves into softer realms, a serene blend of deep house and electronica, it’s paced by a warm bass bounce and shuffling percussion sprinkled with chopped vocal samples and bright keys. Flabaire’s bass mastery continues ‘Click Plok’, as does his deftness at producing delicate, gliding pads, this time punctuated by tight bleeps, gentle open hats, and a meandering synth solo.

Closing out the EP the atmospheric ‘FBG’, a balmy syncopated groove joined by twinkling synth melodies that dance over dusty breakbeats and hushed vocal stutters.

2021 was a milestone year for Jimpster and the label he founded with Tom Roberts back in 1996. It was never going to be plain sailing all the way but their passion for discovering, making, and releasing the music they love saw them pushing into their 25th year with more enthusiasm and determination than ever before. Now, 30 years in, we dive back, headfirst into the deepness of his Soul Spectral EP.

The12-track triple LP and digital package combines all the songs from both the original US and licensed European releases, and features new commemorative artwork unique to this edition. In the late nineties, the budding producers Morgan Geist and Darshan Jesrani bonded over their shared love of slower tempos and '70s and '80s NYC club culture. Obsessed with record digging and the sounds they heard on late-night "club classics" radio shows—and turned off by current releases they saw as artlessly "updating" sublime disco by sampling, filtering and subjugating them with huge kick drums —the duo set out to discover how their favorite old 12" records were made. They naturally gravitated towards extended dubs of songs—full of strange mistakes and echoing backing tracks—instead of the better-known vocal versions. Lacking the big budgets and gear that made so many of their favorite classic records come together, they were forced to take a guerrilla approach. They reprogrammed their techno-oriented arsenal of secondhand synths and samplers, using novel digital recording technology to capture live instrumentation and prioritizing mood over hooks, and the resulting music was just wrong enough to sound unlike anything else being released at the time.After just four underground 12" releases, the duo—now well-known as Metro Area—released their first and only album, Metro Area, in the fall of 2002. Fifteen years later, it's time to celebrate the culmination of their shared history and inspiration once again. Club Dream is an exclusive Daydream side project dedicated to pumpy, uplifting house music. For its second volume, the one and only Salomo steps up. The Berlin-based producer delivers four tracks combining punchy drums, driving basslines and playful melodies, somewhere between classic house and a more contemporary club sound.

The Teflon Dons' Rudiments EP, released in 1996 on Worldship Music and now reissued on FRL Classic edition, is one of those records that perfectly embodies the most authentic spirit of 90s underground deep house. From the very first bars, Rudiments EP stands out for its raw but deeply soulful sound, built on filtered samples, “dirty” drum machines (typically SP-1200) and an aesthetic that mixes Chicago and Detroit.

A year or two back, original Nottingham deep house don Gavin Belton (famed for being part of Smokescreen and Drop Music-adjacent duo The Littlemen) returned to the UK after living in New Zealand. One thing led to another and soon he was back in the studio alongside former creative partner Steve Lee for the first time in 15 years. Featuring heady spoken word vocals from Hector Moralez, the result is 'House For Change', a lightly electrofunk-fired slab of classic East Midlands deep house. Raising funds for homeless charity Help The Framework, this surprise EP also includes 2004 classic 'Tell Me' (a free party deep house classic) and two fresh reworks: a TB-303-bass-driven revision of 'House For Change' by their old pals Inland Knights, and a squelchy, spacey take on 'Tell Me' by Lee under his solo alias, Positive Divide.

Midmorning on a beautiful sunny Sunday in 2011 in the heart of Tokyo, where frenetic and otherworldly Shibuya meets softer, sleeker Aoyama, Portland Oregon-based producer/performer/DJ Conoley Ospovat walked into Seco Bar and was met by a major party in progress. Eddie C was the only person on the lineup, and had already been on the decks for hours. Conoley caught the immense end of the ride, and was then introduced to Eddie by a mutual friend.

A few more encounters in Japan followed, and then the two of them moved to Berlin - arriving nearly simultaneously - where they continued to hang out at gigs and in more casual settings in that fabled and demanding city. Eddie was a source of tips and inspiration for Conoley, and the musical and personal connection was strong.

Fast-forward 10 years, and both are inhabitants of the verdant Pacific Northwest. It is there that their Rain/Sky collaboration was born.

We are finally ready to unveil one of the most exciting projects we have worked on in our label's history: a new release by legendary disco project Hudson People, best remembered for their essential classic "Trip to Your Mind" - which just received its anniversary issue on our label!

Now it's time for "Hold On" - a brand-new single featuring several mixes based on an original recording from the late 1980s, with the completely unheard yet incredibly soulful voice of singer Rickey Owens, whom composer and producer Reginald Hudson worked with at the time.

When we first got in touch with Reg Hudson several years ago, we were originally interested in releasing his "Shake It - Make It Loose" album, which he recorded with John Davis (later known as one of the real voices behind Milli Vanilli). While talking about John Davis (RIP) and other great GI singers such as Karl Keaton, Reginald Hudson immediately mentioned Rickey Owens as one of the best singers he had ever worked with.

Of course, we had never heard of him, as none of his music had ever been released. But when Hudson showed us some old demos and sent us the original DAT recordings, we were immediately hooked.

"Hold On" was recorded in or around 1988 with a simple drum machine and keyboard accompaniment - essentially a demo intended to be recorded properly in a better studio. But the vocal performance was simply stunning, complete with beautifully recorded ad-libs. Owens had a truly remarkable, clear voice with an incredible amount of soul. Luckily, Hudson had his old DAT tapes digitized several years ago, so the acapella recordings survived in excellent shape.
We immediately reached out to several producers to create reworks of the track. The 12" EP compiles some of the most club-friendly of these new mixes - but there is more to come…

First up is Thomas Redfern, a senior producer, professional studio musician and keyboardist from London, UK. His version is a catchy, funky yet deep House track that could easily become a favourite on dancefloors around the globe. Redfern also blessed us with a dub mix that takes things even deeper.
But it gets even catchier on side B of the vinyl. Tom Quick sped up the tempo, added filters and delivered a rework that could make fans of Chromeo, Daft Punk, Stardust and any late-'90s French House afficionado go completely nuts. Yes, we mean it! With a fresh twist on the original, the track has a massive club appeal that we hope both DJs and dancers will dig.

The vinyl single is completed by a mix from German legend DJ Friction, whose version is based on synth layers from the Tom Quick mix. Friction added new drums and bass, giving the track the distinctive modern electro boogie funk vibe he is known for. His mix brings to mind classics such as Shannon's "Let the Music Play" and works of Freestyle's Tony Butler.

The vinyl 12" with 4 mixes is released on The Outer Edge's brand-new sublabel, 1st Floor Records, which focuses on more dancefloor-oriented material. More mixes are available digitally and should not be missed.

UK pals Andy Riley and Laurence Ritchie have been Drop Music mainstays since before the turn of the millennium. They put out a veritable ton of house music and this EP first dropped back in 2004, but has long been ripe for a reissue. 'Already' sits somewhere between tech, new jack swing and deep house and is assembled from chopped-up samples, jazzy stabs and a rigid mix of drums that all get held together with a warm, swinging groove. 'Amber Gambler' on the flip is another collage made from distinctive patches - gun shots, MJ vocals, crashing hits, wiggy synths, minimal percussion and bursts of synth strings. The result is a busy, characterful groove that never stops grabbing your attention.
