Gene's 2001 album Libertine will be released alongside the
new Edsel CD Deluxe Editions on January 27th 2014.
Gene were formed in London in 1993 by singer Martin
Rossiter, guitarist Steve Mason, bassist Kevin Miles and
drummer Matt James, Mason and James having previously
played together in Sp!n. Inspired by the songs of The
Smiths, The Jam and The Faces, Rossiter's literate vocals
and Mason's fluid guitar lines were perfectly complemented
by the intuitive rhythm section of Miles and James. They
released four studio albums and a collection of B-sides and
radio demos between 1995 and 2001, were named Best
New Act at the inaugural NME awards in 1995, and went on
to score 10 Top 40 hits.

In 1974, Ritchie Blackmore's bandmates in Deep Purple refused his request to cut a cover of Quatermass' 'Black Sheep of the Family.' Demonstrating impressive commitment to the song, Blackmore set out to record it himself with the help

of then-emerging vocalist Ronnie James Dio and members of his band Elf. To have enough material to release this as a single, Blackmore and Dio collaborated on 'Sixteenth Century Greensleeves.' Pleased with the results of the recordings, the

two fleshed out a full album and Blackmore formally parted ways with Deep Purple. Blackmore and Dio named this new band after the location where they initially discussed their collaboration - the legendary Rainbow Bar and Grill on West Hollywood's Sunset Strip. Rainbow was born.

Drawing on medieval classical progressions for inspiration, Blackmore's textured playing paired with Dio's fantastical lyrical imagery and inimitable vocals set Rainbow apart from their hard rock contemporaries. Featuring what would prove to be Rainbow's signature tune, 'Man on the Silver Mountain,' Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow is a dynamic voyage. Blackmore's somber, melodic playing weaves a mystical tapestry over which Dio's tales of drawbridges, crossbows and kings settle like a knight on his steed. This influential classic concludes with a flourish as a cover of the Yardbirds' Gregorian chant-influenced instrumental 'Still I'm Sad' proves to be a perfect pulpit for Blackmore's rhapsody-like soloing.

Complete with a faithful replication of the original gatefold sleeve and dead-quiet surfaces, this Wax Cathedral reissue is pressed at RTI, America's best record plant. Even better, it's on colored vinyl.

Begonnen hat Herbert Grönemeyer die Aufnahmen für sein neuntes Album zur Zeit des Mauerfalls, im November 1989. Die Euphorie, in der sich die Republik damals befand, mochte er aber nicht teilen: "Luxus" ist eine bittere, eine unzufriedene Platte. Schon im ersten Stück, "Hartgeld", weist Grönemeyer auf einen drohenden Ausverkauf des Ostens als Folge der Wiedervereinigung hin. Auch "Deine Liebe klebt", "Video" und "Freunde" sind kritische, zum Teil sogar boshafte Lieder, im letzten Stück der CD, "Sie", thematisiert er die Folgen eines Kindesmißbrauchs. Alles schwierig Herbert Grönemeyer wollte sich mit "Luxus" seinen Ruf als ernsthafter Musiker erhalten, nachdem der Vorgänger "Ö" doch sehr poppig geraten war. Das ist ihm, auch Dank seines Mutes zu schwierigen Themen, gelungen.

At the end of October the Ghent based band Falling Man will release its self-titled debut album (distribution Rough Trade). The album is Falling Man's second release and follows the EP 'Hordes of the Battered' (2011).

At the same moment Vynilla Vinyl (the record label that sprouted from the Ghent Record Store Vynilla) releases a limted vinyl edition: 200 albums (of which 100 on coloured vinyl), with a silk-screen printed album cover (designed by Levi Seeldraeyers and Philip Callant).

'FALLING MAN snorts, chugs and fills his lungs with chunks of meticulously cut out mid-air madness. The outcome: streams of hot lava welling up, leaving dark scars on his back. Fearful tumbling in a storm of serrated guitars, whipping drums and threatening grunts...'

Key figure of the band is Sam Louwyck (actor, dancer, performer), who is best known for his work with Les Ballets C de la B, Bullhead, Any Way The Wind Blows, La Cinquième Saison, ...).

Falling Man have built themselves a solid live reputation and have supported bands like The Horrors, Ted Milton's Blurt, Caspar Brötzmann Massaker; they have played at festivals like Melkrock Tielt, RatRock Harelbeke, Schippersweekend Lauwe, TAZ, Ghent Film Fest, ...

The album was produced by Wouter Vlaeminck (cf Tomàn) and Falling Man's live sound engineer Peter Van De Veire (The Yellow Tape - studio). They have recorded the album entirely on tape, with a clear sound-signature of Vlaeminck, who captured Falling Man's live power and translated it to vinyl.

The MONUMENTS came into being in January 1981 in Turin when Mauro Tavella (keyboards, programming) and Andrea Costa (keyboards, voice) pooled their artistic experiences. From the outset they produced exclusively synthesised music, following the natural evolution in electronic music from the early days with monophonic synthesisers to the latest virtual sounds generated with the aid of computers.
The MONUMENTS released in 1984 their only official record on Discordie, a mini LP called "Age" comprising six incredibly fantastic electro-pop tracks, here reissued by Mannequin Records with 2 bonus tracks, "Veiled Lady" and "The Seals", which are out-takes from the same period. All the tracks were recorded on a Tascam 8-tracks, with external synchronisation of the percussions, at the TKS Studio in Torino.

From 1987 onwards, they focused exclusively on music for theatre, radio and independent film, writing scores for the opening sequences of programmes for some of the most important Italian TV companies as well as soundtracks
for documentaries.

Anna Logue Records released "XXVII" CD in 2009, an anthology of their music that contains the best of their early work from the years 1981-84.

Some critics thought of this mini LP as being the best electropop record ever coming out of Italy. A masterpiece!

Bot'Ox is a duo formed in 2005 by Frenchmen Julien Briffaz and Cosmo Vitelli. After a road trip to Babylon («Babylon by Car», their first album released in 2010), they come back to haunt dark clubs with a second album, «Sans Dormir», to be released November 6, 2013. The album consists of ten tracks, mostly sung, some of which have already been released in the form of singles and remixes with videos during the year. For the second album, the battered Cadillac comes to a stop in the parking lot of a deserted nightclub as suggested by the visuals presented with the project, abandoned French clubs as photographed by Phillipe Lebruman. In the same way as cars, far from being a futuristic symbol of progress and speed, can give a foretaste of the junkyard, the night club, a symbol of youth and vitality, contains in its promise of sleepless nights the inevitable ensuing fatigue. This decor is the ambiguous setting for songs that speak of love as any pop album does. In «Sans Dormir» however, insomnia is a solitary adventure. Opening with a spectral visit from downstairs - «Basement Love» - the album continues with «Grands Boulevards,» an instinctive nocturnal trip where rockabilly guitars rub elbows with moogs while giving an account of obsessions, recurring dreams and waking nightmares. «2.4.1» speaks of disillusionment in love while leaning towards soft rock.

The latest instalment in the 40th Anniversary singles' campaign, 7' picture disc of SorrowOriginally released in October 1973, Sorrow was Bowie's inimitable take on The MerseyBeats' version of the song (originally released by The McCoys). The single reached number 3 in UK, staying in the charts for 15 week, and also appeared on Bowie's 1973 covers album, Pin Ups. Bowie's version is an exceptional interpretation of a great song, so successful it has superseded the original and become THE definitive version. It will be available as a double A-side single, backed with a rare live version of Sorrow recorded at the Pacific National Coliseum, Vancouver, from David's hugely successful Serious Moonlight Tour on 12th September 1983. The single was mastered by Ray Staff at AIR Mastering.

Kulturkatzenjammer is the new album from Pajaro Sunrise, the musical project led by Yuri Mendez Jr. Yuri wrote, played, arranged, sang, mixed and produced everything except the drums on a couple of songs. The production on this album is less classic and more contemporary than earlier Pajaro Sunrise albums, which were praised by Uncut, Q and Monocle among many others.
The sound has moved away from the American folk of his previous work and come closer to electronica, which sometimes adds emphasis, and sometimes completely leads the show. However, what hasn t changed is the quality of the songwriting. Whether ensconced in electronic sounds or stark and naked, Yuri s songs are brilliant, moving, brimming with emotion and this, without a doubt, is the Pajaro Sunrise signature.

It doesn't happen too often that a song grabs you by the throat in seconds. That's exactly what happened to us when we heard I Will, I Swear's track Long Days for the first time.

This intriguing boy / girl duo operates from Gent, Belgium and they have just finished recording their first songs together. Delicate tunes drenched in gloom with vocals that will leave anyone silent.

Significant Other is the second album by the nu-metal legends Limp Bizkit, released in 1999 by Flip/Interscope Records, the album saw the band expanding its sound from that of its debut album, Three Dollar Bill, Yall$, to incorporate further rock and hip hop influences. Named after the road signs on the local bypass, the Derbyshire band combined elements of folk musics from across the United Kingdom. Beginning as an acoustic trio, and later adding a rhythm section and the vocals of Jayne Marsden, they began to expand their sound, taking in elements of progressive rock and combining catchy vocal tunes with virtuosic instrumentals, including a synthesizer. Their self-titled first album was recorded in 1982-83 in Dave Pegg's

The Rolling Stones are set to delight their millions of fans, and another generation of new admirers, as they unveil a treasure trove of vintage unreleased material from the 'Some Girls' era of 1978.

Comprising an entire album of fresh material, the songs form the second disc on the deluxe edition of the band's seminal, multi-million-selling 1978 album Some Girls, which is released on November 21. It follows the massive worldwide success and acclaim for Universal's 2010 reissue of the Stones' hallowed 1972 set 'Exile On Main St.'

The appearance of the unreleased tracks on the deluxe 'Some Girls' means that after listening to such gems from the original album as 'Miss You,' 'Far Away Eyes,' 'Before They Make Me Run' and 'Beast Of Burden,' fans can enjoy a whole new set of contemporaneous work by the Stones. A fresh and compelling collection in its own right, it's also the perfect complement to one of the band's best-ever albums.

The unreleased tracks mostly feature performances by the whole band - Mick Jagger on lead vocals, piano, guitars and harmonica; Keith Richards on guitars,piano, harmony vocals (and lead vocal on 'We Had It All'); Ronnie Wood on pedal steel, electric and slide guitar; and the vintage Stones engine room of Bill Wyman on bass and Charlie Watts on drums.

Produced by the Glimmer Twins, Chris Kimsey and Don Was, the material also includes guest appearances by Stones diehards Ian Stewart and Chuck Leavell on pianos, harmonica player Sugar Blue (who also provided the unforgettable motif on the 'Some Girls' smash 'Miss You'), and for trivia freaks even handclaps on one song by former Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman John Fogerty.

The collection includes a wealth of fine Jagger-Richards compositions along with some fascinating cover versions, collectively reflecting the stripped-down rock 'n' roll, blues and country flavours of the famed 1978 album. 'So Young,' 'When You're Gone' (co-written by Ronnie Wood), 'Keep Up Blues' and 'Petrol Blues' all evoke the band's enduring rhythm and blues roots. 'Don't Be A Stranger' is an infectious shuffle and 'Love You Too Much' an archetypal Stones rocker.

'Do You Think I Really Care,' with its lyrical imagery of New York City, and the mid-tempo road tale 'No Spare Parts' dovetail with 'Far Away Eyes' and the 'Some Girls' title track in reflecting the band's longtime love of country music. No Spare Parts will be released as a single.

As if all of that wasn't enough to keep the hungriest Stones fan happy, there are three exceptional interpretations to add to their long list of distinguished cover versions. Keith takes the lead vocals on 'We Had It All,' written by the great Southern songwriters Troy Seals and Donnie Fritts and recorded by such country greats as Waylon Jennings and Conway Twitty. There's a rocking take on Freddy Cannon's 1959 favourite 'Tallahassee Lassie' and an assured version of the Hank Williams standard 'You Win Again.'

'It's wonderful to see the quality of these tracks measuring up to the songs that came out on the original album,' says Ronnie Wood. 'It's an extension of what was going on then,' adds Keith Richards. 'Sometimes great stuff gets left behind and it's great to see it out there.'

Still, each track is imbued with an ominous light, a sense of the gathering storm.

Buoyed by a rhythm section that's at once playful, pared-down and percussive, the songs flow like a river, governed by their own laws only. Unpredictable and marvellously eccentric, the overall effect recalls the work of other utterly unique musical artists (early Fleetwood Mac, late Talk Talk, Brian Eno, Talking Heads, Joy Division). There's also a distinctly African influence - particularly Nigerian juju music and Malian desert blues.

The album consists of twelve songs, divided into two parts.(City and Same City) The band's wealth of individual talent, combined with the strong vision of producer Koen Gisen and frontman Bert Dockx results in a varied, layered masterpiece; a gripping, hypnotic fever dream in twelve chapters.

The Dubless originally from Tokyo came back again with a brand-new song, "ICARUS". The release of the original version of "ICARUS" is the most long-awaited song along with the others in the latest mini album. The original sounds like 80's symbolic bass-line represented by Giorgio Moroder but the remix has changed to more raw groove by live drumming having some resemblance like brand new Daft Punk album which huge effects to dance music scene for all over the world. Also their remake has achieved not just longer, but more simple than the original version. The remixer is a world-famous DJ, Max Essa, who has released his successful brand-new album 'Won Ton Sunset'. We can enjoy his 80's style, one of his characteristics, throughout the remix. recorded this new 7-inch in an old lightship moored on the River Thames in London, where the band moved in April.

The recording and mixing with Rory Attwell (Warm Brains,Test Icicles) only took one weekend on the river and produced the roaring, restless "Rats In The Palm Trees" and its daydream memory B-side, "Fortuna."

'I know it shines in you, but it burns me through, you're the mirror telling lies,' sings Joel Flyger over the reverberating distortion of his guitar on 'Rats In The Palm Trees.' Bassist Adam Page provides a propelling riff and drummer David Larson offers a rocking rhythm. The stays-in-your-head titular chorus is a literal metaphor, Flyger says. It's about great things being soured by something nasty or undesirable.

'Fortuna' is a self-reflective song about personal change. It has a lazy, woozy feel as Flyger sings, 'I miss the good in your eyes, it changes with all that you do.' But Popstrangers turn up the volume to ask, 'If you could change, then would you'
