*'Mellow Out' is, perhaps, THE classic Japanese underground album. Since it
was first released in 1996 on the now defunct Charnel Music label, its legend has grown and grown, and is still talked about by lovers of all things loud, noisy and Japanese as the definitive Japanese noise rock statement.

*Upon release it was instantly dubbed 'the pinnacle of achievement for guitar driven brain crushing madness' and with good reason. Rarely has an album contained such fierce/brutal battering, and speaker shredding in-the-red levels.

*Mainliner were a Japanese trio consisting of Asahito Nanjo (High Rise), Makoto Kawabata (Acid Mothers Temple) and Hajime Koizumi. Originally released on CD back in '96 on Charnel, the pressing quickly disappeared and had been unavailable until Riot Season re-released it in 2003 in a limited CD and vinyl run, both of which sold out quickly.

*With the 2013 rebirth of Mainliner, now dubbed KAWABATA MAKOTO'S MAINLINER the time felt right for a re-release of the much sought after vinyl. So here it is,
neatly timed to coincide with the band's September tour of the UK & Ireland and on the back of excellent press on their 'Revelation Space' (REPOSECD036) comeback album.

two (250 of each) translucent coloured vinyl editions. The music has been
remastered and the sleeve artwork has been tweaked from the original vinyl
pressing too - now with 350gsm card sleeve with metallic silver ink print.

Pressed from lacquers for extra sonic excellence and cut loud.  Co-released with GR's own Lesdisques Blasphématoires Du Palatin label this is another dose of bizarre psychedelic garage rock as only they know how.

These recordings of unreleased and unknown American acidic folk and acoustic pop were made in the late 60s by husband and wife duo Don & Stevie Gere. For over 40 years they've sat untouched and unplayed in a box of unmarked studio tapes at their family home in Los Angeles. As original pop songs and guitar based arrangements from the man who made the stoner psych soundtrack for cult movie Werewolves On Wheels, these rescued one-off pressings were sung in harmony with his teenage sweetheart and lifelong partner, Stevie Howard, recorded at LA based walk-in studio sessions.

Marillion are a British rock band from Buckinghamshire, England. They have sold in excess of 15million albums worldwide across seventeen studio albums, divided into two distinct eras': Fish era and Hogarth era. Fish era Marillion - fronted by Derek William Dick aka Fish - includes the first four studio albums: Script for a Jester's Tear (1983), Fugazi (1984), Misplaced Childhood (1985) and Clutching At Straws (1987) largely considered the most commercially successful era.  Their most commercially successful single Kayleigh (From Misplaced Childhood) charted at #2 in the UK singles chart. Fish departed in 1988, and was replaced by Steve Hogarth, who has remained front man for the subsequent 15 albums. The band remains active and released a new studio album in September 2012 supported by a worldwide tour.

*Comprising a sixteen-strong army of collaborators, Füxa's tenth full-length album, Dirty D, is at once a sonic celebration of creativity, and a rapturous denunciation of some of the demons of modern society. Following on swiftly from 2012's Electric Sound of Summer (itself released after a ten year hiatus), Dirty D is a characteristically euphoric record - a largely electronic set which shifts from solarised hysteria ('Sun is Shining') to crepuscular elegance ('Razzamatazz') over the course of its dozen tracks.

*The dirty 'D' of the title could refer to a number of disquieting facets of today's society - the dominance of Disney, the illusion of democracy, dereliction - and, in contrast to Disney's sickly saccharine supremacy over our children's imaginations, Randall Nieman and his collaborators offer us an animated aural narrative which, in its playfulness and gracefulness, allows for multiple readings on the anxious social issues of our days. Dirty D's cast of characters (which includes pedal steel hero BJ Cole, Ann Shenton of Add N to (X), and Judy Dyble of Fairport Convention) have been cherry-picked by Nieman to ensure a diversity that never feels disjointed: a genuine sonic democracy.

*While Electric Sound of Summer pivoted around a number of cover versions, Dirty D comprises mostly original tracks. The opener, 'The Blue Barracuda', sees Nieman join circuit boards with Suki Ewers of Mazzy Star, Oliver Kersbergen of Sleepyard and Gaute Storsve of Ignore, conjuring a delicate, aquatic backdrop to accommodate Judy Dyble's vocals. The track acts almost as an aural departure lounge before the soaring lift-off of 'Reverse' which, with its sister track 'Forward', combines Nieman's synths and BJ Cole's lap steel guitar to produce a pair of astonishing Country & Galactic 'space waltzes'.

As the title, Robert Zimmerman Plays Bob Dylan, implies, these recordings show the young man we all now know as Dylan finding his way in NYC after bumming a ride from Madison in the early months of 1961. Featuring songs that were left off of his first two Columbia LPs, Bob Dylan and The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan, as well as other assorted demos and unreleased recordings, this essential LP of early recordings perfectly captures his growth from traditional folk music interpreter into what he would become: America's greatest living songwriter.

These songs bookmark an album bursting with sounds inspired by the likes of the Soft Boys, Street Hassle era Lou Reed, the Notorious Byrd Brothers, the Jackson 5 and even Glenn Branca. This is certainly the most fully realised Crocodiles album to date. DUST is a contemporary ouroboros of acid house, combat techno, and late italo. Limited edition of 300 copies with artwork by Giandomenico Carpentier.
DUST is a collective consisting of avant garde Korean noise goddess Greem Jellyfish, psych musician/model Angela Chambers, dungeon wizard/tech genius audio engineer Michael Sherburn, and DIY nightlife entrepreneur /DJ John Barclay, they are headquartered at infamous psychedelic/art/techno mansion Trip House in the jungles of Deep Bushwick. DUST utilizes both vintage hardware (909, 303, Juno 60) and HD cinematic soundscapes to create a heavy, lavish experience.

Founded in 2012 by Sherburn and Barclay, DUST was originally a dark italo project. Soon Chambers and later Jellyfish were incorporated to enliven the dark magic with their sporadic vocals, and live energy.

DUST released 'Past Future,' their first EP on Brooklyn's Low Life Inc.

DUST performed their first live set alongside Gatekeeper, Supreme Cuts, and Teengirl Fantasy at the Dustbowl, a DIY venue in Chicago, and has since performed and/or DJ'ed alongside Light Asylum, Kim Ann Foxman, Phuture, DJ Pierre, Pictureplane and Steve Summers. Also, DUST serves as resident DJs at 'Tropical Goth' a monthly party at Bossa Nova Civic Club, which Barclay owns, in Brooklyn.

Currently riding on the crest of a wave following the glowing reception which greeted his Top 10 debut solo album 'The Messenger' when it was released earlier this year, Johnny Marr will release the new single 'New Town Velocity' on July 22nd on Warner Bros. Records / WMALS to coincide with a summer of major festival appearances.

In 2005 Josh Homme, multi-instrumentalist Alain Johannes and band members Van Leeuwen and Castillo recorded the Queens' 4th studio album Lullabies To Paralyze.

On this record Homme's voice blends into the band's sound as all the instruments bleed together as one, creating an hypnotic force that finds endless, fascinating variations of a seemingly simple sound. The result: an addictive album that begs listeners to get lost in its ever-shifting moods and slyly sinister sensuality.

The record features the appearance of several guests, most notably ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons and of course the sensational Mark Lanegan.

Before finishing high school, Springtime Carnivore joined a traveling dance company as a talented and nimble acrobat. Her career was cut short by a nearly-tragic tightrope accident, which left her with a broken femur and required months of recovery time. During the recovery, she re-discovered a dust-covered piano in her family's home and the songs began pouring out like tears.

Springtime Carnivore's "Collectors" 7-inch is a radiant introduction to her exuberant AM pop, which is charmingly home-recorded with fuzzed vocals, faded heavenly strings, thumping mo-town inspired drum and bass. Springtime Carnivore's blossoming songs and buoyant vocals feel slightly uncanny, as if you danced to them in a haunted ballroom in another lifetime. The Riot Squad were a pop group from London initially managed and produced by Larry Page, and later by Joe Meek. The band were known for their flamboyant use of face paint and theatrical stage shows. In March 1967, after an interview in the Giaconda cafe in Tin Pan Alley, David Bowie joined the group. The band rehearsed at The Swan in Tottenham, with David on vocals, and played live together for approximately twelve weeks before he left. Phases compiles the A-sides of Montag's 12-month singles project of the same name. 2012 saw Montreal's Montag, a.k.a. Antoine Bédard, writing a new song (or two) for digital release each month of the year. Bédard chose this unique and innovative release method to experience songwriting and producing in a new, challenging way.

*The songs showcase a range of styles while sharing elements from the electronic pop of Montag's previous work. "Sun Fat Explosion" is Bédard's noisy go at krautrock, an improvised jam taken from a "one-night-band" session with fellow Montreal musicians. Erika Spring of Au Revoir Simone lends her lovely voice to "Memori," a synth-pop gem with a bittersweet melody, built on chords written by Spring. "New Found Land," features Bédard's lyrics about a land untouched by human hands, the 'one place where we belong." The track begins with a Kate Bush-like sweep of sustaining synth sounds before becoming a louder, M83-style tune.

*This new, time-sensitive writing method didn't allow for much tinkering before release. The limitations gave Bédard a fresh perspective on songwriting. 'It felt dangerous, and sometimes I wondered if it was too ambitious, but it also felt good, having to write the songs in time and on time every month,' he writes in the LP liner notes. 'Each song is a time capsule of what I was living in the moment and what was inspiring me.'

*The Phases LP track sequence follows the same chronological order as the original singles project.

40th anniversary limited edition 7' picture disc of David Bowie's iconic 'Life On Mars' single.Originally appearing on the Hunky Dory album, 'Life On Mars' was released as a single on 22nd June, 1973 on RCA - reaching #3 in the UK - when Bowie's career had gone stratospheric following the huge success of his The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars and Aladdin Sane albums and tours. This 40th anniversary release features the rare Ken Scott mix, (mixed at Abbey Road Studios in 2003 that created the Ziggy Stardust 5.1 mixes) on the A-side and on the AA-side 'Life On Mars (Live)' taken from a recording at The Music Hall, Boston on 1st October, 1972', previously only available on the 2 CD 30th Anniversary Edition of Aladdin Sane. Both sides feature photos from legendary photographer Mick Rock: the A-side, a photo from the era-defining 'Life On Mars' promo film, which the photographer also directed; the AA-side a photo from the Music Hall, Boston concert.

3 Almonds and a Walnut is the 2nd album from Roshi featuring Pars Radio, the band built around Welsh-Iranian songstress Roshi and her collaborator Graham Dowdall ( gagarin, Pere Ubu, Nico etc ). Roshi's music includes her own very individual take on song Iranian songs she grew up listening to together with her own personal songs in arrangemts of keyboards, electronics, cello and found sounds.

The bands previous release have been highly acclaimed including two experimental records of the month in Mixmag plus great reviews in the Wire, Froots, Rock and Reel etc plus radioplay including BBC Radio 3, 6 music, resonance fm, NDR, Record Collector, Quietus etc. Ahead of the album the band released the single " Don't Breathe It to a Soul..." with a remix from David Thomas from legendary band Pere Ubu which sets loops and layers of vocals in a primrodial soup of industrial percussion. This track was taken from a score Roshi was commisioned to create for Birds Eye View which was premiered at Londons' Purcell Room. The band regularly perform at prestigious venues across the country , cool clubs and at select festivals.

Fresh from releasing a special, limited edition boxset of The Machine's debut album, fully reinterpreted and re-recorded by Joaquin Claussell (each personally hand-painted by Australian artist Misha Holenbach), the Pyramids Of Mars imprint is set to drop its first official single. Again, as with the Machine boxset, the label is set to collaborate with Dalston's LN-CC store to exclusively stock this special leather (yes, leather) sleeved vinyl. So who is worthy of such an opulent package Step forward Rouge Mécanique - a 25-year-old Parisian armed with a Telecaster and a fresh approach to dance music, whose fashion designer friend Aurelia Paumelle designed the unique sleeve. The title track 'Witches' sees rock'n'roll guitar slashes slowed down to a sexual disco groove, while swirls of psychedelic noise come from all angles. It's got the grind and the groove in a way not heard since The Skatt Brothers, conjuring up images of New York's sleazy meat-packing district of yesteryear. On the B-side 'Stingray' is even more offbeat, a tripped-out hip hop groove originally composed to accompany the models on a catwalk - like Ry Cooder, Didier Marouani and Andrew Weatherall left the party at 5am to hit the studio to make a blues record like nothing you've ever heard before. Citing the realm of fashion as a strong influence on his music, this impressive debut is the perfect marriage of both those worlds - keep your eyes peeled for Rouge Mécanique's debut album due for release on Pyramids Of Mars later this year.

From their beginnings as the house band at a commune of artists in south London, improvising to silent films and theatre pieces, Flying Ibex have progressed through a sea of influences including African tapes, Brazilian Maracatu and analogue gear. The band emerged at the end of 2012 with their debut album Travel in Dangerous Places ("Immensely pretty... I'm smitten with this record" Tom Ravenscroft). Largely the solo work of Barnaby Keen, the album laid out the songwriting and arrangement blueprint for what was to come - the polyrhythmic grooves, deceptively simple harmonies and wandering melodies of that record are in full bloom on this new material. The tracks see Flying Ibex grow beyond the solo talents of Barnaby Keen and fully incorporate the skills of bassist Nathaniel Keen and drummer Dave De Rose, who between them sport a list of collaborations including Mark Ronson, Andreya Triana, Moloko, Sound Species and Electric Jalaba.

BLESSURE GRAVE has grown, regressed, died and experienced rebirth since 2008. With over a dozen releases on
too many labels to name, the current lineup of Owen Glendower, Carlos Sandoval and Tobias Grave has revisited the earliest
acoustic-based neo-folk / post punk experiments they exhibited on 'Unknown Blessures', offering forth a six song record
entitled 'The Flashing'. The first set of new material since 2010 combines melody and minimalism with lyrics exploring love,
imprisonment and anxiety. Limited edition of 300 copies comes on clear vinyl. Also includes a 12'' double-sided
professionally printed insert and a download card.

On their debut full-length, Western Massachusetts' Speedy Ortiz manages a bit of magic by conjuring the spirits of classic American indie rock, while twisting those ghosts into new shapes. It's easy to hear the influences of Helium, Jawbox, and Chavez on this album, as well as nods to their contemporaries including Grass is Green, Pile, and Roomrunner. Sweet vocal harmonies run up against gnarly distortion, aided by basic, chunky bass parts and heavy, fill-laden drums.

The album was recorded in a few days in November at Justin Pizzoferrato's (Dinosaur Jr., Chelsea Light Moving) studio, Sonelab, a huge space in an old factory in Easthampton, Mass. The sessions went from very early in the day until very late at night, with the band taking its time to experiment. Pizzoferrato's collection of old distortion pedals were utilized on both the record's guitars and vocals.

The theme of the occult and the supernatural runs deep through Major Arcana, inspired by singer-guitarist Sadie Dupuis' reading on black magic. Dupuis' sometimes knotty and abstract lyrics bring to mind fellow wordsmith Stephen Malkmus, while referencing horror film tropes, chemistry, and neuroscience. Major Arcana's literal translation is 'major mysteries,' a phrase from tarot cards. 'I don't write in a narrative way and am more concerned with use of language than meaning,' Dupuis says, 'so I like the open-endedness of the title and the way it invites interpretation.'

After too much time freelance writing and watching re-runs in a windowless Brooklyn basement, guitarist and songwriter Sadie Dupuis left New York City for the wilds of Northampton, MA in order to pursue a master's degree in poetry. In doing so, she began Speedy Ortiz, a self-recorded lo-fi project named after a minor character from the Love and Rockets comic series. Speedy Ortiz soon became something else entirely as bassist Darl Ferm, guitarist Matt Robidoux, and drummer Mike Falcone teamed up to form a full band, balancing abrasive noise with infectious earworms. The newly minted Speedy Ortiz quickly found an audience in the Boston DIY scene, playing frequently with their friends Pile, Grass is Green, Fat History Month, Sneeze, Krill, and Arvid Noe.

Almost immediately, the band recorded a two-song single, 'Taylor Swift' and 'Swim Fan,' with Paul Q. Kolderie (Pixies, Hole) and Justin Pizzoferrato (Chelsea Light Moving, Dinosaur Jr.), and self-released it in March of 2012. Shortly thereafter they spent a few weekends at the dingy yet atmospheric Sex Dungeon Studios in Philadelphia recording the Sports EP, a five-track, loosely conceptual 10' released that June on Exploding in Sound Records.

The creation of Major Arcana, their full-length debut, marks the evolution of Speedy Ortiz into a wholly collaborative effort. Darl leans toward basic, chunky parts, while Mike, a talented songwriter in his own right, helped arrange while also providing aggressive, boisterous drums. And Matt is a classically trained guitarist, but his experience in noise and experimental music comes through in his anti-melodic guitar solos, which counterbalance Sadie's angular, scalar guitar riffs and poppy vocals.

The end result is a band able to distill their influences and creative impulses into something at once dissonant and melodic, noisy yet undeniably pop.

Mark Monnone has put in some long hours and some even longer miles to finally touch down at the debut Monnone Alone album Together At Last.

Recorded by Gary Olson (The Ladybug Transistor) at his storied Brooklyn studio Marlborough Farms, Together At Last goes some way to logging Monnone's travels, both physical and metaphysical; from topiarian hallucinations at New York's medieval cloisters to using London's buses as a furniture removal service, these are brief urban accounts told with one eye for the absurd and one for the mundanely beautiful.

Having co-founded The Lucksmiths back in 1993, and with his buoyant melodic basslines a striking feature of the band's sound, Mark Monnone was also handy as the band's pinch hitter songwriter and was responsible for such radiant moments as 'Take This Lying Down' and 'T-Shirt Weather'. Since The Lucksmiths' demise in 2009, Mark has continued to sharpen the focus on his songwriting, first stepping out on his own in 2011 with the single Pink Earrings.

Together At Last is helmed by Monnone's guitar strum and warm non-singerly vocal and features backing instrumentation from the semi-regular Monnone Alone live band of Connal Parsley (Your Wedding Night, bass) and Gus Franklin (Architecture in Helsinki, drums) with extra flavour added by friends from Crystal Stilts, The Aislers Set, Ruby Suns and The Clean.

As for comparisons, Everett True has opined on Collapse Board that Mark Monnone "exhibits an astonishing array of singing styles - from Stephen Pastel (circa '84) to Dan Treacy (circa '83) to Gregory Razorcut (circa '85) to Bobby G (circa '84). This might sound like it's bad or despicable, but on the contrary: we can't help but warm to them. Nostalgia being what it used to be."

Dreamlike and diverse, there are a thousand words to describe this connected Kiwi's sound, but for some reason these two seem the most fitting.

Connan Hosford aka Connan Mockasin, originally one-third of Connan and the Mockasins until the band became a solo act some four years ago, has collaborated with Fat Boy Slim and toured with such diverse artists as Late of the Pier and Crowded House.

He also worked with Charlotte Gainsbourg on the track 'Out Of Touch' which featured on her concept-album 'Stage Whisper'.

The classically trained jazz musician, signed to Erol Alkan's Phantasy Sound label, has managed to dig out his own genre - although not always the most accessible or the most coherent it's a feat which in itself is worth your attention.

If there were any hipster band with actual musical education, better drugs, good taste and, well, a mind of their own, they just might sound a little bit like Ginferno.
"Experimental". "Arty". "Eclectic". "Danceable". Adjectives, innit Boring clichés, and they've all been used at some point to describe the sound of Ginferno. But what can you do Ginferno's sound is ginfernal. It's an assault, it's The Ex with Gettatchew Mekurya, combined with the dirty rhythms of Johnny Burnette, the martial rawness of Einstürzende Neubauten, the free-funk of James Chance and other no-wave heroes, the accessible atonality of The Residents, the enchanting mystery of Mulatu, the barrel-tasting energy of Man... Or Astroman, the soft sonic tissue of Martin Denny and the indescribable impact of all those Cambodian rock, Turkish funk, African garage and Samoan psychedelia compilations. So yes, the aforementioned adjectives apply. Sorry.

*One of the most celebrated Japanese Underground bands have returned! It may have taken over 12 years, but Kawabata Makoto, guitar guru and head honcho in Acid Mothers Temple, has finally decided to get his celebrated
'psychedelic solid free attack group' back together. Joining original Mainliner members Kawabata Makoto (motorpsycho guitar) and Koji Shimura (drums) is new recruit Kawabe Taigen (bass/vocals) and the trio still kick
up one hell of a sonic racket.

*Confusion surrounds the exact details of the recording, but they seem to date from December 2011, and from Kawabata's mountain top temple studio-cum-home. The man himself, as always, is shying away from sharing too
many of the magick details about the Mainliner rebirth. And the stark, minimal black with gold sleeve keeps the mystery intact, apart from the grainy band photo on the rear.

*All said, 'Revelation Space', is a comeback statement of intent. And it's firmly in the same 'in the red / raw' camp as the original trio's classic 'Mellow Out'. From the initial speaker shaking feedback burst of opener 'Revelation Space', right through to the closing 20-minute epic 'New Sun' (which showcases Taigen's otherworldly howl perfectly) there is no let up in the brutal delivery.

*This will no doubt delight those Mainliner diehards who never thought they'd see the day again, and all those with a love of over the top guitar howls and punishing feedback levels, but always under pinned by some righteous
grooves.

Pooling together a group of influences as diverse as its members, BESTIAL MOUTHS present a raw, synth-driven energy
propelled by singer Lynette Cerezo's powerful vocals. Often likened to Diamanda Galas, Siouxsie Sioux or Lydia Lunch, Cerezo
delivers each note with fury and abandon. Synthesists/keyboardists Christopher Myrick and Gustavo Aldana channel early industrial,
EBM, goth and minimal synth pop in turns, blending harsh electronics and lush melodies. When fused to Aldana's splintered programmed
beats and the tribal rhythms and samples of drummer Jessica Reuter, the harmonics combine to breathe new life into post
punk, weaving their own distinct creation in the process. Bestial Mouths has released an album on Dais Records.

DEATHDAY is a Los Angeles based outfit playing angular, minimal synth latent music inspired by early factory records / Manchester
post-punk and European electronic stylings à la the French and Belgian cold wave movements; blending dark and often esoteric
images with sparse, primal,and analog sounds. Deathday has been recording and performing its music since 2007 and have
released tracks on Downwards and Mannequin records compilations.
