After their glorious debut on 2DIY4 Pool are back to release their second EP! Again it's a four tracker consisting of two original Pool-tracks and two remixes by Aeroplane and Stimming. The 'Flex EP' demonstrates the great progress of the Hamburg-based Indieband Pool, again showcasing their ability to create a full, particolored and highly unique sound with guitar, bass, drums and vocals. All in all it's an unbelievably smooth and promising release asking for more to follow! The first original, 'Flex", is an epic and atmospheric bomb, working with intense build-ups, emotive vocals and sick guitar- and bass-lines. The special feeling and the continuous changes of groove and timing immediately make you move and of course flex your body! The internationally famous and beloved Disco-producer Vito de Luca a.k.a. Aeroplane put hands on 'Flex' and did an incredibly sexy remix. His remix is 50 BPM slower than the original and makes perfect use of the guitars and vocals getting them into his very own and unique style. The other original by Pool, 'Botox", is a crazily tight and powerful groover satisfying with it's straight drums and wonderful vocal- and guitar- harmonies. The epic structure and impulsive atmosphere of 'Botox' create sleek tension and immediately make you go with it. Groove-expert Stimming did a supersonic remix of 'Botox"! The get-together of his drums, bassline and the guitars evolve a deep and mellow temper. Especially when the vocal comes in the sparkling and hypnotic feeling forces you to leave things behind and dance!

BAD GUYS is an album that rides a horse and drives a van. It doesn't own any furniture and it hasn't bothered sorting out digital tele, it just watched the channels disappear one by one until they were all gone. Then it kicked the screen in and broke its foot and didn't go to hospital. It drinks, it fucks, it fights, it throws up and it gets up and fucks again. It's not complicated, it's heavy rock music. There are concepts there, somewhere, but they're crushed under a tonne of rock, and rendered irrelevant. And rightly so, because who wants to complicate a party. Stop analyzing and start nutting off.
*Lazy comparisons time, take this lot and bash em together, Melvins, Black Sabbath, Harvey Milk, Motorhead, ZZ top, Trans Am, Killdozer, 90's Am Rep, Thin Lizzy, MC5, Deep Purple etc
*BAD GUYS. A Midlander, a Southerner, a Canadian and a Hungarian. Three necks, two kicks and no mic stand. Long hair, grey hair, bald-heads and beards. A shitload of rock. The works. Sounds like a plan. As well as playing with the likes of Circle and Oxes, these guys have earned a reputation for crashing all sorts of parties. They've played three ATP festivals, played on the plinth in Leicester Square, played Field Day, pissed off a lot of security, got a bunch of fines, and helped a lot of people have a lot of fun. Formed through a mutual desire to play some rock music that's not had the life squeezed out of it by some kind of po-faced academic mangler, they make the heavy stuff and they play it loud, the way it should be.

Fourth corner. Physically, it's where four states in the U.S. come together at one singular point. Symbolically, it's where the four great rivers in China come together as one. Or, it could be the cycle of life during the four seasons of the year. For Trixie Whitley, it's a metaphor for trying to find balance and belonging from the songs that make up her scintillating debut album, Fourth Corner.
Whitley burst into public consciousness in 2011 as the lead singer of Black Dub, super-producer Daniel Lanois' (U2, Bob Dylan) project, blowing people away with a voice and presence beyond her now-25 years.
And it's that voice: an emotional, blues-drenched instrument that ranges from a lilting slap to a knock-you-backwards uppercut. On Fourth Corner, Whitley explores the range of human emotion in another set of four: utter love, total rage, unadulterated happiness, and crippling loneliness. "It's those elements of life I keep coming back to," she says. "Both as a person and musically as well."
Recorded in New York with producer/keyboardist Thomas Bartlett (aka Doveman, who's also worked with Glen Hansard, Antony and the Johnsons, Grizzly Bear and the National) engineer Pat Dillett (David Byrne, St. Vincent, Mary J. Blige), and string arrangements by Rob Moose (Antony, Bon Iver), aching songs like "Need Your Love" have Whitley working from a spare beginning that explodes into a blossom dripping with pleading vocals and delicate piano. On tracks like the sassy "Irene" and the sinister "Hotel No Name," Whitley lays down a snarling guitar line on top of scuzzy beats while her voice veers from defiant to remorseful.
It's a tantalizing mix of sounds that can come only from someone who says: "I'm from everywhere but have never felt like I belong." Whitley lived a nomadic life: born in Belgium, she split her time growing up there and in New York but also frequently visiting family in France, Texas, and Mexico. Her mother came from an artistic European gypsy family, filled with musicians, painters, writers, and sculptures, while her father, renowned singer-songwriter Chris Whitley, thrust her into the world of music as a toddler when she joined him onstage in Germany at age three.
After a few years of touring and recording experience with some of the most inspiring artists around, Trixie is ready to present her anticipated first solo full length.
"I'm psyched and petrified," says Whitley in her archetypal wide-eyed wonderment mixed with a fierce determination. "As a songwriter, I want to go to places people don't expect and with that is complete freedom of expression." Perhaps that place is another version of a fourth corner: something spiritual perhaps, certainly emotional, but most definitely real.

*Factory Benelux presents Dark Light, the brand new album by post-punk trailblazers Section 25, Factory workers since 1979.
*Recorded in 2012, Dark Light is their first collection of new material since the tragic loss of founder Larry Cassidy in 2010, and marks a return to the smooth electro and synth-pop textures first explored on their seminal 1984 album From the Hip. These echoes are amplified by the presence of co-vocalists Beth and Jo Cassidy, and a sublime cover image by iconic artist/designer Peter Saville.
*Much of Dark Light was produced in collaboration with remixer Derek Miller (aka Outernationale), and includes new versions of recent single tracks Colour Movement Sex & Violence and Inner Drive. Other stand-out cuts include future pop classic My Outrage, which will also be made available as a limited edition 7' single (7 FBN 62) to mark World Record Store Day in April 2013. There are also two hidden tracks.
*Section 25 are: Vin Cassidy, Bethany Cassidy, Steve Stringer, Stuart Hill and Joanna Cassidy. 'Metamorphosing from the glummest, most dour group ever into progenitors of House, Blackpool's SXXV are, inevitably, one of the groups of this very post-punk moment' (Chris Bohn, The Wire magazine)
*Past tense, future perfect.

Popstrangers are Joel Flyger, Adam Page and David Larson, three native New Zealanders who make 'pop' music that's hard-driving, punk-influenced and sonically inimitable. After releasing several singles on fabled New Zealand label Flying Nun, the band arrives with their debut album Antipodes . Recorded in the basement of a 1930's dancehall, Popstrangers' first full-length features dissonant, claustrophobic melodies, anchored by the languid affectations of Flyger's vocals, that bring a vintage feel to their decidedly contemporary garage rock. Channeling early Radiohead and kiwi indie bands of yore like the Gordons, 3Ds and the Chills, Antipodes further develops the band's nuanced, distorted 'pop' created and cultivated from years spent honing their craft live.
Antipodes begins with a wavering chord from a classic rock organ in 'Jane,' over which the band layers gently oscillating bass, a razor-sharp guitar riff and the faintest hint of a tambourine, until the song rotates on its axis with the introduction of Flyger's shadowy vocals enveloped in noise. Popstrangers revel in this conflict, playing with dynamics and tempo to whip their droning melodies and tightly wound riffs into utter frenzy. Antipodes ' storm breaks for 'Heaven,' a song that contrasts Flyger's moody lyrics about imprisonment and escape with a serotonin hit of snappy guitars and infectious hooks. Drawing the album to a close is seven minutes of slow-burner 'Occasions,' anchored by a murky bassline that eases the album to its end. Antipodes operates within a claustrophobic world of depression, captivity and dark matters of the heart, but Popstrangers anchor their debut LP's hazy gloom with earnest anticipation for contentment.

*The short, mysterious career of aptly named French female duo Deux Filles is bookended by tragedy. Gemini Forque and Claudine Coule met as teenagers on a holiday pilgrimage to Lourdes, during which Coule's mother died of an incurable lung disease and Forque's mother was killed and her father paralyzed in a grisly auto accident. The two teens bonded over their shared grief and worked through their bereavement with music. However, after recording two critically acclaimed albums and playing throughout Europe and North America, Forque and Coule disappeared without a trace during a trip to Algiers in 1984, where Forque had lived from birth to the age of five. In the ensuing years, not a trace of the duo has surfaced, except for a mysterious letter purportedly written by Coule claiming that the pair journeyed to India on a spiritual quest, only to meet with further hardships. Indeed, the short and terribly unhappy lives of Forque and Coule are at the root of the small but fervent cult following the mysterious duo have gained since their disappearance, not least because the placid, largely instrumental music on the duo's albums betrays no hint of the sorrow that framed their personal lives.*This would be a terribly sad story if a word of it were true. In reality, Deux Filles were Simon Fisher Turner, former child star/teen idol and future soundtrack composer, and songwriter/technician Colin Lloyd Tucker. Turner and Tucker left an early incarnation of The The in 1981 to pursue a different musical direction. Turner claims that the idea of Deux Filles came to him in a dream, and he and Tucker strictly maintained the fiction throughout the duo's career. Not only did they pose in drag for the album covers, the duo once even played live without the audience realizing that the girls on-stage were actually a pair of blokes from south London having a giggle. Deux Filles released two highly collectable albums: Silence & Wisdom (1982) and Double Happiness (1983). After that, the duo cast their frocks aside and released two ambient pop albums as Jeremy's Secret.
*This remastered double disc set includes all tracks from both original albums packaged in a deluxe six panel digipac. The booklet features liner notes and archive Deux Filles images.

**This first time vinyl edition of Abstractions & Mutations has been mastered and cut to vinyl by Paul Gold at Salt Mastering in Brooklyn, pressed on virgin vinyl at RTI, and packaged in a classic old-style tip-on jacket printed on uncoated stock and featuring brand new paintings by Dave W. A free download coupon is included. *In 2006 after the success of They've Got Blood Like We've Got Blood, White Hills main man Dave W. decided to put together a full band instead of continuing White Hills as just a recording project. Trying out many different line-ups and configurations the trio of Dave W., Ego Sensation, and Bob Bellomofinally came together and would become the core White Hills band for nearly a two year period. It is with this core trio that the band made their classic early albums Heads on Fire, Glitter Glamour Atrocity, as well as Abstractions & Mutations. *Abstractions & Mutations was originally released in 2007 as a tour only CD-r for a UK tour White Hills did with Spiritualized guitarist Tony 'Døggen' Foster's solo band DØGNTANK (which also featured long time White Hills collaborator Antrønhy ØH on drums). The album contains both studio and rehearsal recordings from the very inception of this full band version of White Hills. Most tracks were recorded in one take and no overdubs were used. Stand out tracks 'Eye to Eye' and 'Left Behind' were recorded in just one day. The entirety of it was recorded, mixed and produced by Dave W. in New Jersey and New York City (except for 'Eye to Eye' and 'Left Behind' which were recorded by Bob Bellomo and mixed by Dave W.) *Immune could not be more excited to present Abstractions & Mutations on vinyl for the first time. The CD-r edition has been repressed a number of times but is long sold out and this material has been criminally unavailable. For this first time vinyl edition the material has been mastered and cut to vinyl byPaul Gold at Salt Mastering in Brooklyn, pressed on virgin vinyl at RTI, and packaged in a classic old-style tip-on jacket printed on uncoated stock and featuring brand new paintings by Dave W. *White Hills are currently signed to Thrill Jockey Records where they have released four full length albums and two EPs. 2013 will see a brand new White Hills album on Thrill Jockey as well as an appearance from the band in Jim Jarmusch's upcoming film Only Lovers Left Alive (starring Tilda Swinton, Tom Hiddleston, Mia Wasikowska, John Hurt and Anton Yelchin).

Back cover photograph by Steve Hauschildt.Layout assistance by Michael Pollard.Emeralds is Mark McGuire, Steve Hauschildt and John Elliott. Thanks to Russell Brill, Mark Fell, Peter Rehberg, Jamie Stillman and Ben VehornSpecial thanks to Andrew VeresJust to Feel Anything, the new album by Emeralds, surpasses all expectations, just as its predecessor, Does It Look Like I’m Here, did in 2010. This expertly recorded new album sees the band deliver plenty of their distinctive aesthetic for old fans to enjoy while offering a new range of fresh, exciting ideas for newcomers.'Before Your Eyes' begins the record with a steady build-up, which bleeds into humid layers of synthesizer pads and warm guitar. The track sets the tone perfectly for 'Adrenochrome,' a fast-paced excursion into new territory for the band. The calm after the storm appears in the form of 'Through & Through,’ with its contemplative strokes and heart-wrenching atmospherics. 'Everything Is Inverted' is an energetic rush of monolithic guitar leads, pulsing drum machine, and driving sequences. Still, it's on the second half of Just to Feel Anything, a triptych of tracks, where Emeralds adroitly demonstrate why they are a cut above their contemporaries. 'The Loser Keeps America Clean' kicks off the b-side by diving into the deepest fathoms of their experimental oeuvre. As the final bursts of static dissipate we are led into the opening chords of the eponymous 'Just to Feel Anything,' a new zenith in Emeralds' repertoire. The album closer, 'Search For Me in the Wasteland' sees mounting layers of brightly strummed guitar chords blossom into a storm of color and expertly crafted textures-- a truly majestic end to an immense album. With Just to Feel Anything, Emeralds shine a laser-sharp light into the future, while preserving their uniquely intelligent historical perspective. The long-awaited next chapter in the Emeralds discography is finally here, emerging as a sophisticated progression in both sound and structure.

Sleeve) 180gr VINYL Longplayer !! The Confusional Quartet are Enrico Serotti, Gianni Cuoghi, Lucio Ardito and Marco Bertoni, a four piece experimental band with new wave, avant-garde and post rock influences who have been recording since the late 70s. Having first released their debut album more than three decades ago, they now return with a new,
eponymously entitled full length on Hell Yeah recordings, and accompanied by fabolous artwork by Andrea Amaducci. One of the most recognized Italian bands in the so-called new wave era, the energetic group were never afraid of pioneering new sounds and performing energetic shows (often called the italian Devo), and this new album suggests they have lost
none of their edge having reformed just last year. Across the course of the 11 tracks, the band explores the fusion between synthetic sounds and real drums; fizzing guitar lines and plenty of feedback. It's funky, raw and looks to many different eras and genres all at the same time. The opener 'FuturFunk' (co-written and co-produced with Sir Bob Rifo of The Bloody Beetroots) is just that, dazzling and arresting as it goes.Elsewhere, high energy, dense and gauzy songs like 'Kursaal' rage
and writhe as drums cut in and out and guitars get worked to the max. Pilling layer upon layer of sound, each track is stuffed with contrasting surfaces before being stripped to just a jazzy drenched bassline or funked up lead. 'Verme' marks one of few comparatively sober moments in an otherwise spine tingling, nerve jangling journey through intergalactic sonics and grubby rock ethics

Hugo Race Fatalists is the collaboration between Australian singer songwriter producer Hugo Race and the Italian instrumental band Sacri Cuori.
Previous album 'Fatalists' ****4 Star review in Uncut, Feb 2011 hailed in international press as a 'masterpiece...;'
Beautiful, brutal, primitive and transcendent, the new album from Hugo Race and his Fatalist collaborators Antonio Gramentieri and Diego Sapignoli is both dark and uplifting. Acoustic instruments and subtle electronica fused with Race's deep voice and songwriting trace the scars of experience and sacrifice, set against unique soundscapes merging folk, experimentalism, electronica and rock. Hugo Race Fatalists are joined by violinists Vicki Brown and Catherine Graindorge, synthesist Franco Naddei and contrabassist Francesco Giampaoli.

Nautic is a project born of a meeting of minds, comprising one time samplist-turned-outsider-pop-rock-songwriter and Deek in-house producer Bullion, with Laura Groves - also known for her hazy pop records under the name Blue Roses - and Tic, of Young Turks renown. Bring them together and you have a sound that sands down the rough edges of life's troubles, creating flanging sea shanties that tumble out of your speakers like autumn leaves falling from the cold trees in slow motion. A side 'Fresh Eyes' finds Laura, Tic and Bullion trading call-and-response refrains over a plodding drum machine, twinkling Balearic guitar licks and the romantic sax tones of multi-instrumentalist Slime, questioning whether their visions of love are real, yearning to meet each other in the middle. Turn it over and you'll find the moody flipside 'Fixxx', where Nautic sound rather like a spaced out, new-age answer to Fleetwood Mac. Equal parts somnambulist pop and psychedelic folk, Nautic are a humble breath of fresh air in a world that feels crowded with noise. Music to reflect to, wash up to and question the universe to. There's plenty more where this comes from, so keep half an eye and a quarter ear open for the next chapter in the Deek story.

Just a few months after releasing their highly acclaimed second album 'Twist', Flying Horseman returns with this breathtaking four track EP.
In between touring with Flying Horseman, promoting their album and playing in numerous other bands and projects, Bert Dockx has found the time and inspiration to record 'Navigate', which is set for release on Unday Records at the end of November.
Three of the tracks are solo performances by Bert, stripped down songs which showcase his particular talent for writing and performing electrifying tunes. This is about as tense as one guitar and one voice can sound.
'America is Dead' is a rework of an older unreleased Flying Horseman track, which now receives the full band treatment. This EP summarizes why we love this band so much... 'Navigate' is pretty, moody, gentle and menacing all at the same time, no less than impressive.
'Navigate' will be available on limited 10" vinyl
