January of 2016 will mark Danny Krivit's 45th anniversary of DJing. Those decades have essentially spanned the entire arc of contemporary dance music's evolution and, as anyone who's heard him play will attest, Danny does the same in his creative, far-reaching DJ sets. What better way to mark a 45th anniversary than to release a 45RPM record The latest offering from Most Excellent Unlimited is a two-sided seven-inch that features Danny touching up two percussive monsters that exemplify the down and dirty tribal vibe of the earliest, pre-disco dancefloors. The breakdown section of Cymande's "Bra" is teased to multiple climaxes on one side while the flip, slyly sliced from obscure German progressive rockers Niagara, takes no prisoners, riding a ferocious drum break for four-plus minutes of pleasure.
As Mr. K's auspicious landmark approaches, Most Excellent Unlimited plans to release a series of sevens that will chart Danny's path through these past 45 years of dance music, while Danny himself will be joining the fun by adding 45s-only sets to his already diverse repertoire.

His incomparable originality is supported in a range of genres from ethnic to electronic music.
This tune is the exotic sound "Bali Moon", recorded as the last number in his newest album " Traveller", which was released eight years after the previous.
It is remixed by Moodman, who is one of the forerunners of the underground house music scene in Japan.
The top Japanese violinist Keiko Oikawa joined and also a Gamelan player / shadow picture & illustrator Kouheisai Kawamura designed the jacket and performed his gamelan and kecak in the piece. The artwork is by IPPI.

At Africa Seven we are proud to present the third in our series of Manu Dibango re-issues. For your delight this time is 'Home Made', a 4 tracker of epic African musicianship. Recorded in 1979 the albums bedrock of Rhythms was recorded in Nigeria. This creates an infectious and addictive afrobeat groove for the album. Overdubs and mix downs were then carried out in Paris adding layers of sheen and expansive jazz groove. As the sleeve notes themselves note 'This album is dedicated to all brothers for a better vibration'.

As a member of Black Uhuru, the grammy awarded Michael Rose reveals another unreleased material. Faithfully arranged by King Jammy, the rhythm is based on Horace Andy - Jah Is The One which was recorded in his classic "Pure Ranking". Melancholic steppers rhythm with Rose' iconic singing will surely touch your heart.

Due to popular demand; a double A side from the one and only, Marcos Valle. This is the second time he has appeared in this Brazil 45's series LINK'Democustico' is a lush, uptempo MPB constructed from guitars, rolling percussion and soaring woodwind. Taken from his 1972 LP 'Vento Sul' on Odeon Brazil.

'Freio Aerodinâmico' is an uptempo piano driven, bossa/MPB, laden with hooky vocals, strings and horns, underpinned with a funk drum groove. Aeroplane sound effects thrown in for good measure! Taken from his 1970 self-titled LP on Odeon Brazil.

Ghazalaw, the eponymous debut album from the Wales / India collabor - ation, is the latest album to be released on Cerys Matthews' record label 'Marvels of The Universe'.

Ghazalaw is a sublime musical meeting between acclaimed Indian ghazal singer-musician Tauseef Akhtar from Mumbai and Gwyneth Glyn, one of Wales' leading singer-songwriters from Cricieth, North Wales.

A musical love-match, Ghazalaw is the marriage of two great traditions of love poetry and traditional music: the ghazal singing of the Indian sub-continent and the
folk song of Wales. Though at fi rst glance distant relations, dig deeper and you discover that the Welsh folk and Indian ghazal traditions evolve from ancient poetic forms, specifi cally, linguistically, Sanskrit.

Tauseef Akhtar served a ten year 'apprenticeship' with the greatest ghazal singer of modern
times, the 'King of Ghazal' Jagjit Singh. Gwyneth Glyn is steeped in the linguistic and poetic
richness of her homeland, inspired by the landscape of Wales and centuries of tradition. Yet
she stands at the forefront of a new Welsh generation keen to seek out and celebrate all the
many affinities that tie two distant parts of the world together.

Tauseef and Gwyneth are joined from India by Ashish Jha (tabla), Manas Kumar (violin) and
Sanjoy Das (guitar), and from Wales by Georgia Ruth (harp, vocals) who earned two BBC Radio
2 Folk awards nominations in 2014 following the release of her debut album Week Of Pines.

Marketed as workout music" at the time, 'Estrelar' was his best-selling record with a total of around 90,000 sales.'Estrelar' is taken from his 1983 self titled LP released on Som Livre. 
Robson Jorge & Lincoln Olivetti - AlleluiaTwo of the masters of the Brazilian Boogie sound joined forces to make a self-titled LP released in 1982 that epitamised the sound of early 80's Rio de Janeiro. Synths and keys float over razor sharp samba, jazz and 2-step drum grooves backed by huge layers of horns. Production is as shiny, bright and ultra clean as it ever got!'Alleluia' is a mid tempo groover, with rich horns, guitar, synth and vocal lines. An end of the night jam if ever there was one.Released on the LP mentioned above and also on 7' in 1983.

Orchestre du Montplaisant are a worldly troupe, who display the intrepidness and roaming interests of true explorers. The band's sound can be defined in its diversity, ranging from a darker form of mystic exotica to the sun-kissed soundtrack to some future film set on the shores of a faraway island. Their new record defiantly combines the authentic sounds of fuzzy 70s high-life, the sensual sway of oriental Arabiana and a trippy Cumbia track of the sweltering kind, a kin to that of The Meridian Brothers. The charm of this LP lies in the band's ubiquitous authenticity. These songs could so easily be the standards, which you would otherwise hear covered and re-covered from generation to generation in their native countries. The record is awash with guest vocals, bouncing carnival beats and vintage organ solos, inviting you to close your eyes and imagine the sunbeams reflecting off the ice-cubes in your glass, while your feet carry you away, across the sand. The band have significantly evolved their outernational sound since their first release and have recorded two sessions for Cerys Matthews on BBC 6 Music, as well as enjoying regular plays on different BBC Radio shows, including Tom Ravenscroft's.

The second 12" off Bosq's upcoming sophomore full-length takes on a darker and more agressive tone, enlisting the help of frequent collaborator Kaleta to get their powerful message across. The A-side features the familiar pairing of Bosq and Benin born & Nigerian raised singer Kaleta (formerly of Fela's Egypt 80) on their heaviest collaboration to date. Kaleta laments the struggle of the common man on the first half of the song before both the music and the lyrics strike back urging a "take over" of those oppressive systems. The incessant rhythm and driving groove laying the perfect foundation, echoing Fela's "Music Is The Weapon Of The Future" mantra. The B-side is another heavy slab of dense percussion and an afrobeat style horn section with a groove that falls somewhere between afro-latin, dancehall, and house. Horn genius Evan Laflamme handles the entirety of the section as well as ripping a Baritone solo that anchors the track in the middle and perfectly walks the line between musicality and groove. The 12" was envisioned and carried out during a time of immense frustration for the very politically minded Bosq and that emotion colors the sound of the record through both tracks.

Heavily dubbed out Double A-Side single of perennial favorites of ours, New Zealand's Lord Echo and California's DJ Day taking remix duties on each others tune. Day gives Lord Echo's "Bohemian Idol" a 1980s drum machine reggae vibe and lets the echo run wild, while Lord Echo turns DJ Day's "Land of a Thousand Changes" into a live disco reggae studio jam session.

Vinyl Reprint of a highly sought after Electronic Abstract Future Jazz Release by italian 'Library/soundtrack' Composer Piero Umiliano /Moggi originally release on 'Omicron' . Piero´s Releases are generally hard to find and very expensive on Vinyl and this here, released on Mental Groove´s Sublabel WRWTWW makes no difference. Here´s a review from a last years CD Edition: Tra scienza e fantascienza", is an album of histrionic Piero Umiliani recorded under the pseudonym Moggi. A Master gifted with a never ending passion for music, innovator by vocation, experimenter in his genetic code now at ease with synths in order to forge sound that could be reductively termed as avantgarde. Timeless atmospheres, alien hypnotic sonorities, modern and charmingly retro, minimal and complex arranged with an impressive taste for the unknown substance the Maestro was going to deal with. Esa returns with the final instalment for this Highlife World Series which included previous releases Cuba and Kenya. Having been invited to attend the East Africa music conference DoaDoa in Jinja, Uganda back in 2014 and again in 2015, Esa shares the sounds of a new breed of talent and ideas emerging from East Africa and beyond, showcases music not only from Uganda but artist from Burundi, Rwanda, Kenya and South Africa who all attended the conference. In October 1975, shortly after the release of Born To Run, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band played a four-night stand at the Roxy Theater in America's showbusiness capital, Los Angeles. Performing in front of devoted fans as well as stars such as Jack Nicholson, Cher and Neil Diamond, the passionate, energetic concerts have gone down in legend. Taped for radio broadcast on the second night, and presented here with notes and rare images, this superb set makes it clear that Springsteen had finally become a superstar.

Desolat Special Edition 002 is truly special. Daniel Melingo's seminal tango tune 'Narigon' for the first time on vinyl. Matom (Matt Edwards and Thomas Gandey) remix is quite unique hi-tech balearic jam. Or just a serious reinterpretation. Available only here. It took a while to complete this one, but it was worth waiting. Desolat are happy to share it with you.

Nyanza' is the third album from the cross-cultural, boundary surpassing OwinySigoma Band. For their third offering, the band travelled to the Nyanza Province of Western Kenya - home of their two members Joseph Nyamungu and Charles Owoko - to explore the birthplace of Luo music.

A complex, constantly evolving, musical relationship now in its fifth year, the project has seen the band producing music in both Kenya, for their self-titled 2009 album, and in London with the second Power Punch LP. The group features Nyatiti master Joseph Nyamungu and Lou percussionist Charles Owoko, both from the Nyanza Province in Western Kenya, as well as London-based musicians Tom Skinner (drums), Jesse Hackett (vox/keys) and Louis Hackett (bass).

Nyanza, is loosely arranged as a narrative following their trip to 'Luo Land'. From the first track, '(Nairobi) Too Hot', which tells a tale of running to the hills and escaping the hectic city life, to the hypnotic Nyatiti sounds of 'Owour Won Gembe' and the rapturous 'Changaa Attack', the album follows the band's experiences as they head up the country to Kisumu and Nyanza Province. The albums centrepiece 'Nyanza Night' tells the story of the night they played a show for Joseph and Charles' village for the first time, followed a 12 hour Nyatiti sound clash - Drummer Tom Skinner recalls 'This went on for hours, really heavy music and a lot of Changaa (Changaa - also called 'Kill Me Quick' is a homebrew rumoured to contain jet fuel and battery acid). This was one of the most magical nights that I've ever had. In the middle of nowhere, in the outback of Kenya, under the stars. I don't think I've ever really felt so far away from my normal life.'

Mirroring their journey, the music on this record see the band move forward sonically, rolling through a myriad of influences from dub, techno, and in a way that all feels completely natural and at home alongside the traditional Luo sounds. Much of the instrumentation was recorded at their rented house in Kisumu - listen carefully and you will here many ambient sounds from chickens to rainstorms. The result is a string of striking tracks, the music always feeling raw and organic, the rhythms and sounds reflecting the spontaneous jams from which the record was born.

Nyanza is a truly unique record, a faultless melting pot of disparate sounds, one that reflects the ambience and energy of the environments in which it was made. Arresting electronic grooves fit side by side with soft Lou singing and traditional Nyatiti music to create yet another pivotal moment in the turning cogs of this intoxicating, often surprising, soundclash.

Taieiras features on Ely's 1972 album 'Cantos Da Minha Gente' on RCA. She recorded 12 albums between 1960 and 1983. We know very little about her and there is little information available.

Taieiras has never been released on a 7'.


Trio Esperanca - Nao Aguento Voce

A vocal trio from Rio, formed by siblings Mário, Regina and Evinha Correia José Maria, whose three older brothers we're the Golden Boys.

The original line up recorded seven albums for Odeon Brazil between 1963 and 1975 Não Aguento Você is taken from their self-titled 1971 album.

Includes the hugely in-demand instrumental version of French pop legend Plastic Bertrand's hypnotic slice of sleazy electronic disco 'Stop Ou Encore', only ever available on an uber-rare 1982 12' from US label Sugarscoop and massive on Italy's Cosmic scene as well as in Chicago where it was championed by legendary DJ Ron Hardy. Also features the 12' long cut of 'Dancing To Forget' from Romie Singh, an impossible-to-find chugger from 1986 with hauntingly beautiful vocals, dreamy tablas and a great reggae-pop groove. Flip over for Brazilian boogie classic 'Estrelar', a laid-back summery dancer from the phenomenally talented Marcos Valle followed by the sought-after floor-friendly Bumpy mix of Joanna Laws' captivating ethereal 'First Time Ever'. Superb collection.

Big Mama Thornton was one of the greatest Blues shouters of all time. Her music has influenced the likes of Janis Joplin and Elvis, who would later cover songs originally recorded by Big Mama. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1984. In 1966 she joined up with the Muddy Waters Blues band to cut a classic album of down home shoutin' blues for Arhoolie Records. Tracks include "Bumble Bee", "I'm Feeling Alright" and "Life Goes On". Released on the Combat Core label in 1985, and originally meant as a USA-only release, 'Bonecrusher' features some of the most beloved Broken Bones' tracks. Moving towards a more metallic approach, compared to the hardcore fury of their debut, this release helped the band build a USA fan-base that included, among others, names like Tom Araya from Slayer, and James Hetfield from Metallica, who both still acknowledge them as one of their main influences!

2006 gründet sich die Band in Los Angeles und veröffentlichten ein Jahr später ihr Debüt. Die Band
wird im darauffolgenden Jahr von Trent Reznor eingeladen mit Nine Inch Nails auf Tour zu gehen.
2009 veröffentlichen HEALTH ihr zweites Album.
2012 werden HEALTH von Rockstar Games dafür beauftragt, den Score zu Max Payne 3 zu
schreiben. Von der Gaming Community wird die Musik hochgelobt, später wird er als Best Score und
Best Song bei den Spike Video Game Awards nominiert.
Das Jahr 2015 beginnt für HEALTH damit, das Set der Eric André Show zu zerlegen und Musik des
neuen Albums DEATH MAGIC vorzustellen. Auf dem neuen Album ist auch der renommierte
Produzent und Künstler The Haxan Cloak zu hören (im Opener VICTIM).

Mulatu is an Ethiopian born instrumentalist, composer and arranger extraordinaire. Schooled in the UK and then the USA, Mulatu fuses jazz, latin and traditional Ethiopian styles to create a unique sound, most commonly referred to as Ethio-jazz.Over the past decade years he has gained much exposure via the Ethiopiques series, a collaboration project with the Heliocentrics, and through the inclusion of 'Yegelle Tezeta' - featured here - in the soundtrack of Jim Jarmusch's film, 'Broken Flowers', starring Bill Murray.

Tribute to the Afro-Peruvian tradition f/Columbians Sidestepper vocalist Eka Munoz, Pernett & La Mamba Negra + Marc de Clive Lowe (UK/NZ), Panko from Ojos de Brujo (Spain), & Kumar (Cuban rapper based in Barcelona).

Love & Poverty is the debut album from Strange Faith, a new collaborative project involving country soul singer-songwriter Jeb Loy Nichols and jazz/soul/folk producer and composer Benedic Lamdin, acclaimed for his output under the Nostalgia 77 moniker alongside work with the likes of Valerie June, Jamie Cullum and Prince Fatty. Strange Faith brings a rich and vibrant, breezy and jazz-inflected twist on the laid-back soul sound and
earthy lyrical slant that has seen Wales-based American artist Nichols crowned the 'high priest of country cool' by Rolling Stone magazine. Although his voice is unmistakable, 'Love & Poverty' is a far cry from being a Nichols solo effort, and it shines with the essential and equal input of a talented ensemble: in attendance at the original session, held at drummer Antonio Feola's studio, were Jeb Loy Nichols on guitar and vocals, Feola himself on
drums, Ned Crowther on bass and vocals, and Lamdin playing guitar. The sound of this album is infused with the contrasting atmospheres of the inner London location where the sessions took place and the Welsh countryside, where Nichols lives and where the songs started their lives

The Partisans' second album - described as 'the Professionals meet the Clash' and originally out on the Cloak & Dagger label in 1984 - reached #20 on the UK indie chart. On display was the more melodic side of one of the most legendary names of the early UK punk era (The Partisans formed in South Wales in early 1978). Influenced more by the Clash and Stiff Little Fingers than their tour mates Blitz or Peter And The Test Tube Babies, 'The Time Was Not Right' is a must have in any punk rock collection!

liebsten Zufluchtsort.
Sleep ist eine erträumte Sound-Matrix aus Pop- und Folksongs, aus Field Recordings und der
vielfältigen Polyrhythmik unserer Biosphäre. Wir begegnen dort den Geistern der Hauntology und dem
Dub der Soundsystems.
Sleep bedeutet loslassen, sich in sich selbst auf- und aus dem Chor der Gemeinschaft heraus zu
lösen. Und doch hält uns der Schlaf im tiefsten innersten alle fest zusammen. In jedem Dorf. In jeder

Obwohl er sich als Songwriter, Drummer und Produzent bereits einen Namen gemacht hatte, suchte
Dornik nie nach dem Scheinwerferlicht. Jetzt findet es ihn. Der introvertierte Musiker aus dem Stadtteil
Croydon spielte und produzierte jahrelang im Stillen hinter den verschlossenen Türen seiner
Ein-Zimmer-Wohnung. An seinem Schlagzeug sitzend, schuf er dort im Geheimen seine
lichtdurchfluteten, elektronischen Liebeslieder. Dornik kommentiert: - It was just a private hobby, I never
saw myself as a frontman.' Während er als Drummer seiner Label-Kollegin Jessie Ware auf Tour war,
kursierten seine Demos erstmals in weiteren Kreisen. Am Ende war es Jessie Ware selbst, die ihn, in
der absoluten Gewissheit in Dornik einen ungeschliffenen Diamanten entdeckt zu haben, davon
überzeugte, Teil von PMR zu werden, jenem Label, das wie kaum ein anderes für zeitgenössischen
Leftfield-Pop steht.
Dennoch sticht sein Debüt aus dem PMR-Roster heraus. Dorniks geheimnissvolle Art spiegelt sich auf
elektronische Weise in seinen klassischen Funk-Melodien wider, die melodisch bisweilen regelrecht
überschwappen. Und so klingt auch das Ergebnis: Impressionistisch und stets leidenschaftlich, wie in
einem Film voller Palmenlandschaften, Traumsequenzen von Liebesszenen, mit beobachtender Lyrik
voller Phantasie.

Leone, it came out in 1973 and received great success, thanks to the presence of the actors Terence Hill and Henry Fonda, in a perfect balance between light-hearted comedy and the more serious side of the 'spaghetti western' genre.

The other element of the film comes from the music of Ennio Morricone, who writes and orchestrates a really varied soundtrack, which easily adapts itself to the various moods in the movie. There is everything: tensive

soundscapes, epic symphonic rides - directly referring the "Dollar Trilogy", frivolous and light-hearted moments, all mixed with a disarming naturalness.

Given the popularity of the film, its soundtrack has been reprinted several times, but 35 years have passed since the last issue on vinyl! A must have not only for fans of the Maestro Morricone but, given the importance of this

The founder member of Afro-disco legends M'Bamina wickedly go-betweening Congolese roots and swingeing techno: three boom shots of raw, virtuosic percussion, threaded with complex drum-machine programming and sparse synths.

The trained pianist Max Loderbauer, together with Ricardo Villalobos, has just breezily launched the jazz sanctuary of the Munich-based ECM records into the ether as "Re: ECM". On the new adventure he now logically again finds himself working with sanctuaries. For the tool he uses for creating worlds is the finest modular synthesizer in the world, the Buchla 200e.
In the glow of this altar-like cockpit, he welcomes the two inspired Swiss musicians, clarinettist Claudio Puntin (also mini-mallets and electronics) and percussionist Samuel Rohrer (also Kaoss pad and other electronics), both of whom have published their own as well as co-operative productions on ECM. With ambiq, they are now exploring remote musical universes on Rohrer's innovative arjunamusic label, with the aim of opening doors of perception to the electronic scene by means of enhanced possibilities of instrumental interaction.

Moussa Doumbia - KeleyaThe second track from Moussa in as many records, and deservedly so.Keleya is a organ lead, afro-funk bomb with Moussa in full James Brown effect. Taken from the LP of the same title, originally released in 1977 on Pathe, and on 7' by Ivory Coast label SID in 1974. Suffice to say, they are expensive and rare.

Amadou Balake - Super Bar Konon MoussoRazor sharp, percussion heavy, guitar lead afro-latin funk.Taken from the LP of the same name, released by the legendary Sacodisc label run by Lassisi (from Ivory Coast). Sacodisc were the a groundbreaking label experimenting in Afro-Latin crossovers - Balake travelled to the USA in the 1970's to record with salsa musicians - recording and releasing albums with the likes of Monguito, Labi Sosseh, the great Amadou and Sweet Talks from Ghana.

In conjunction with compiler and highlife researcher Dr. Markus Coester, Soundway Records present a very special release. A triple 180g gatefold vinyl (with a bonus 7 inch). This 45 includes the two first ever recordings by a certain Fela Ransome Kuti with his band The Highlife Rakers. Recorded by Melodisc in London in 1960 both tracks have been unearthed after more than fifty years in hiding. In many ways this compilation is a prequel of sorts to Soundway's groundbreaking Nigeria & Ghana Special compilations, telling the early story of modern highlife's foundation & formulation. It traces the music from West Africa to London, adding elements of jazz, mambo and calypso along the way and
Paving the way for the afro sounds of the 1970s.
Accompanied by 12 page vinyl booklet, the notes by Dr. Coester include rare photographs, labels and advert reproductions alongside some stunning and very rare recordings

Voodoo Funk's latest onslaught of blistering Nigerian disco and Afro-funk .

Tony Grey's two inclusions, from the early-eighties with the Ozimba Messengers, were originally released on different LPs: irresistible Afro-disco, layered with delirious syn-drums and sick keys, and featuring a horn-line bumptiously whipped from Louis 'Thunder Thumbs' Johnson's bass-playing on MJ's Workin' Day And Night. Originally from Warri where he stayed throughout most of his career, Tony's first band was the Famous Latin And His Dominant Seven. He gigged for a while as a James Brown imitator with The Great Peters, before his breakthrough fronting the Magnificient Zeinians, with some amazing 45s on EMI's HMV imprint - best of all the psych-rock-funk monster Ije Udo.

At the close of the 1970s, just a couple of years after the classic psych-funk of Float, Tirogo - Wilf Ekanem and crew - trained their frazzled peepers on Disco. The ensuing Aiye People LP is a stunner and a collector's legend. Afro-fried Kool And The Gang on a mission to 'blow your soul on fire', featuring space-jazzbo Fred Fisher on trombone and the E Gang sisters on sassy backing vocals, Disco Manic and We Like To Party are two standouts.
