Deep, trippy, Dub Techno and Detroit inspired cuts by Daniel Stefanik.

The hotly tipped rising producer ED1999 is releasing his fifth 12" on his own label Porpax. On "Body Fluid", the Belgium-based artist unleashes four slices of high octane big room techno. "Indigo Blood", the second track, after the EP's bitter-sweet Carl Craig circa "Landcruising" reminiscent ambient opener "Blurry Blue Eyes", primes you for "Body Fluid"'s overall energy level. Balls-to-the wall techno with more than a hint of ED1999's love for Detroit techno. How deep this influences run in ED1999 is nowhere more audible than in "Abyssal Terror" with its jubilant chords and arpeggios. Another fast-paced whirlwind of a track is "Deep Sea Hunter", which has a loopy vibe to it, that is trance-inducing in the best possible way. The bleepy "Azura Sequence" rounds the EP off with another perfectly balanced execution of tracky forward drive and deepness. Visually, the collaboration with Berlin-based graphic artist Oliver Sperl continues. The cover of "Body Fluid" is one of Sperl's artworks that the Porpax team purchased at an exhibition in Berlin a while back.

Stockholm's Havenaire follows up a series of head-turning ambient releases on the likes of Shimmering Moods, Polar Seas and Glacial Movements with a limited new long player on Past Inside The Present. Across six slowly shifting soundscapes he layers up his misty-eyed chords into music that is designed to empty your mind but that also gently sweeps you heart. There is subtle hope and optimism amongst the ambient fog here that leaves you feeling cleansed and soothed. All six pieces have their own character but are very much united by a sense of calm and serenity that is utterly captivating.

Warsaw's very own Private Press, debut on Of Paradise with their Young At Heart EP. A super-charged 4-tracker that rewires the brain, revs-up the serotonin levels and pays a sincere tribute to the foundations of rave and the diverse techno of the early 90s.The release kicks off with Wetweird, a thunderous techno number that could shake the foundations of even the most impenetrable bunker. Following this is title track Young At Heart, an infectious big-room number and a love letter to the raves of yesterday and the parties of tomorrow.

Terrain, a new collaborative project from two London-based artists, debuts on the Delsin Mantis series. With an appropriately immersive, subliminal approach to contemporary techno, they present a sound split between low BPM, creeping intensity and dynamic broken techno. It clearly implies an acute instinct for the vibe the sublabel is exploring. Steely, dub-kissed textures and impulses shape out the space, while the drums fall in crisp, precisely interlocking formations.

“XCPT is back with the third chapter of Time Horizon series: a six track palette illustrating the variegate broken beat sound of this full italo squad, blending their different backgrounds in a multi face dancefloor weapon.
The A side starts with return on wax by Modes and his breakbeat symphony "FB2thsn" followed by a no mercy chemical assault by Train to Eltanin and a hybrid footwork tune by DJ Plant Texture. Flipping the record here is label co owner Nothus’s first appearance on the series with his track Konnor 3012, followed by Marco Segato’s live-taken debut track on a 12” “Pirate Utopias”, finfishing up with Soreab's grimy samba “AVP”."

Blueprint continues to celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2021 and to follow James Ruskin's 'Shortcut' EP (BP058) and 'Sketch' (BP059), which saw Ruskin team up with Truncate for the first time, he now returns to one of his regular cohorts and fellowUK techno luminary, Mark Broom with the follow-up to their 2020 release, 'Basement Jams'.

New Chicago talent comin' atcha with that Banging Chicago House Sound!

Another juicy vinyl from Positive Not Happy, releasing the third ep signed by label owners The Lumens. The title track “Milosky” starts as a high voltage electronic club groove typical of the duo, developing on a straight subtle bassline with airy arpeggios and contemporary acid elements. On the remix task, none less than Federico Molinari delivers a surprising electronic funk gem filled with plenty of synths combined in a top-class cosmic jam. On the B side The Lumens include in the Ep their very first studio joint, “Krember” is a solid spacy track lead by an addictive acid phrase and lush pads for a sure massive crowd reaction. Turin’s rising talent Denaila remixes “Sunrise”, completing the pack with an impressive raw minimalist cut.

After continued support from high-profile artists including Batu, Giant Swan, Aya and Debonair, SELN continues its cosmic journey into darkness via Conrad Pack's "Receptor EP"

This is the label's first vinyl outing, and Pack's first EP in over two years. The record comes in the shape of four strong tracks which create a world full of paranoia, lost hope, and strain. Having said all that - this release is still a TRUE MUSICAL ACCOMPLISHMENT.

Side A opens with 'Stepper', which when played on the dancefloor will truly separate the wheat from the chaff. Picture a DMZ night where the doors are locked, the spirit of fallen dubsteppers arise and complain incessantly about the music policy, only to be elated when "Stepper" graces the speakers. In other words - it's a much faster, much darker dubstep track, but also so much MORE!

Next up is 'The Cross' which in some senses is a more "functional" techno track of sorts - although it's almost certainly not. Sounds of lost souls scream in the background consistently, whilst pummeling hi-hats and bass keep the listener grounded. Think stuck in the mud at an Iration Steppas gig, but all the speakers blow and no one gets a ticket refund.

On the flip Touch' lives up to the name by reaching for the listener's soul (via their ears). Although taking speed and smoking skunk simultaneously isn't recommended by anyone, this song is alleged to have the same effect (OPPOSITES DO IN FACT ATTRACT). When playing this one out SELN highly recommends pushing the mixer into the red (IGNORE THE SOUND TECH) - extra distortion is very much encouraged by Pack.

The final song "Receptor" comes without the warning of being a title track - but is all the better for it (almost like the title of a movie being involved in the final punchline of the film). Swirling synths descend into a paranoid psychosis, whilst vocal groans spin vicariously throughout the song - leaving dancefloors truly DEMOLISHED. It's arguably the most relentless track on the EP, and sums up the current 'mood of the times' rather well some may say (if not at least the mood of the EP itself).

Nurmad Jusat aka Nuron / Fugue, one of the originators of the UK emotive techno sound, went on a quest for archived material and unearthed a handful of DAT tapes with previously unreleased music from the early to mid 90s. The tracks offer a deeply melodic and unique masterclass. Nuron combines a pulsing four-on-the-floor signature beat of the traditional techno sound with his characteristic rhythm and harmony elements. October brings Subradeon. Hailed as the new school of the techno scene, they might have grown up in the Neapolitan underground scene, but their sound has become a melting pot of influences from their current home town of Berlin and the duo's self- confessed spiritual home of Detroit.
Giuseppe Salone and Salvatore Lannotta deliver their debut release 'Breaking Down Borders' on Sous, compromising of their characteristic raw soul, profound meaning and energetic purpose. This package includes a remix from Techno pioneer Stephen Brown (Djax Records, Transmat, Music Man).

Sunda Arc are brothers Nick Smart and Jordan Smart. Best known as key members of folk and jazz influenced minimalists Mammal Hands, their Sunda Arc project takes inspiration from the likes of Jon Hopkins, Rival Consoles, Moderat and Nils Frahm as well as their own music world. Their debut EP 'Flicker' was released in December 2018 and now the duo are set to release their debut LP, 'Tides' on 7th February 2020.

Named for a volcanic arc in the Indian Ocean, created by the process of massive tectonic plates colliding, Sunda Arc strives to mingle electronic and acoustic sounds until they become almost indistinguishable from each other. It's a process where they draw the acoustic properties and quirks out of electronic sounds and find the electronic potential in acoustic sounds. "Finding the ghost in the machine or blending the human elements of playing live is something we are always trying to explore in our work.

Experimentation is a large part of our process and we tend to combine carefully composed material with chaotic ideas to find the balance between the two" — Sunda Arc 'Tides', their debut album, takes its name from the idea of unseen forces that can affect our lives in myriad ways, being pushed and pulled and at the whim of powerful forces outside of our control as well as offering a nod to things such as the tides on our planet, tectonic plate movements and weather systems. There are often chaotic elements in these systems that function in a way that produce a type of controlled randomness on a large scale. This is something they try to reflect in their music by adopting some of the ways these systems work into musical sequences, and using ideas such as chaos theory to control musical parameters. "Tides is a reference to themes we were thinking a lot about during the making of this album. These include the similarities between macro and micro systems, or the circulatory and nervous systems in the body. Things that produce a type of controlled randomness on a large scale". — Sunda Arc 'Hymn', the first single from the album, uses Nick's voice sampled and played back through a keyboard to create a human yet electronic feel.

It mixes soft vocals with heavier electronic elements to create a danceable yet human sound world. 'Dawn', is best described as uplifting-techno, its use of repeated phrases building in intensity and variations to put you into a hypnotic state whilst also being industrial and danceable. 'Daemon' is one of the tracks that really resonates live. Drawing on the sound of UK dubstep it's intense but fun and the bass clarinet blends with synths at the end to create a sound almost like a vocal. 'Secret Window' brings forward another side of the band, focusing around a lo-fi recording of felted piano and bass clarinet.

These are blended with granularised and processed versions of themselves which emerge like ghosts of the instruments throughout the track. 'Cluster' is another key track. It utilises a small group of notes looped in an unusual way to create a sense of cascading patterns over a solid danceable drum groove. It emphasises soprano sax blended into the sound world half-way through to lift into the final section.

2022 Reissue of this split electro Mini-LP originally released on 2009

Our usual creator of these texts and an eloquent storyteller Luge has asked me to step in for this one so here you go and buckle up ladies & gentlemen. To state the obvious the label will see its first split EP which will go by the name Meat Fools. The side A is created by Caprithy and side B by Denis Kostitsyn, who are two longtime friends and the residents of the project ABCD originating from the city Izhevsk. These hardworking focused producers brought this vinyl to life for you to immense in their world and connect for us altogether regardless where your body is based. The combustion of sounds within this wax piece is dark, moody and fits to the label’s ideology like the Cinderella’s shoe.

‘Camargue’ gets a fresh treatment on Drumcode, as a handful of techno’s finest give new life to an R&S classic - with six mixes from the likes of Maceo Plex, Keith Carnal, Enrico Sangiuliano, Adam Beyer and Layton Giordani spread across two EP's.

Coming from the studio of CJ Bolland and Portuguese journeyman The Advent, the track was born out of a golden age of Belgium dance music and first released in 1992. It stands as one of the most treasured pieces of vinyl in Adam Beyer’s collection and this six-part compilation of remixes and remakes marks a highpoint in Drumcode’s history.

In this first part, Maceo Plex makes his return to DC after 2014’s ‘Conjure Dreams’, providing a bustling industrial take, with distorted vox that gives way to sheaths of stirring melody, before the spine-tingling chords enter the fore and the cut drops into broken beats. CJ Bolland and The Advent then polish the edges of their time-honoured rave favourite with a punchy pin-sharp 2019 version of the original. In contrast to the peak-time prowess of the other respective versions, rising Dutch talent Keith Carnal moulds a liquid smooth interpretation heavy on hypnosis and sparse drums.

"Cassandra" is a super deep and hypnotic cut that opens with a thumping kick and silky-smooth pads, with the techno innovator teasing out delayed vocal-like synth phrases that lock the listener in before a huge sub-bassline lands. Dozzy focuses on these main intersecting elements which gradually evolve, topped off by rolling drums and razor-edged hi-hats. Also on the release is "II," a slab of experimental sound design that swells and retracts, gurgling away to nothing and topping off an essential new chapter for the peerless techno craftsmen.

Rare bonus disc from seminal UK Rave group Drum Club. Originally released as part of a limited edition pressing of their 1994 album “Drums Are Dangerous”. Both sides feature an alternative dance floor remix of the track "Illuminated" where ethereal vocals of “It’s A Fine Day” singer Kirsty Hawkshaw are layered over dreamy percussive workouts.

In response to some of the absurdities of the contemporary parasitic “DJ Re-Edit” culture this release tries to raise questions regarding artistic authorship and where we currently stand in the Western contemporary artistic landscapes of often blindly striving for novelty at an ever accelerating pace. If we take the reference of Bootsy Collins' claim that “funk is making something out of nothing.”, there is essentially no “funk” here as Castro fundamentally makes nothing out of nothing, which is something, but only conceptually, but in terms of experience is arguably nothing in the end. The only other thing that we can take from this is that this seems to be a tribute to the original artist as the length of this 5 minutes and 9 seconds “extended edit” numerically celebrates the date of birth of John Cage - September 5th. Our third analysis of frequencies from the void above resulted in a snapshot obtained from the genesis of another universe. Celebrating one year of music FTVA03 consists of five cuts by the spanish maestro Do Or Die.

On the A-Side the record opens with Autoflanger, a driving techno track with trancey elements which gives no rest. A2, 25 Seconds, presents a biting electro cut where the vocals and synths take us on a apocaliptic journey. Heaven in Hell closes the A-Side with a tranquil but tense acid track where the interaction of the bassline, drums, leads and pads create an ascent into the enlightenment brought by the glimpse of this new universe.

The B-Side opens up with Out Run 2020, a warped break-beat phantasmagoria where detuned synths constantly fight aganst the driving bassline. Finally, B2 gives us Overdose, a gloomy electro cut with sounds brought up from the darkest places of this new universe.

German DJ Helena Hauff and Return to Disorder label owner was the first female to be named BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix of the year in 2017. Hauff’s primary focus has always been her productions and honing her skills on the decks. This translates into her characteristic gnashing electro, acidic techno, chugging EBM tunes taking priority over courting fame and ‘likes’ that so many in the music industry seek. Her background studies in fine art, maths, physics and acoustics means her creative flair is perfectly expressed through the coaxing of weighty club sounds from her machines. With ‘Living With Ladybirds’ Hauff lays down four EBM-infused tracks recorded in her method of using strictly analogue equipment. There’s the eccentric electro of ‘Jonas’, the travelling melody behind ‘Your Turn To Fly’, the stripped down pulsing techno of ‘Touching Plastic’, and the rich rolling acid techno of ‘Pinch’.

With a love for extreme motifs he’s a perfect fit with Don’t and stands alongside contemporaries LOCKED CLUB and ANY ACT (who also collaborated) in ripping up the tired old rulebook and fiercely blazing their own trail, the music lurching between thunderous Techno, Industrial strength Broken beat and scalding Acid, all executed with a punk sensibility and a twist of dark humour that’s rare to find in the Techno of today.

Tired of the crazy pandemic lockdown time, we've got another Bourassa release.

Smolny, who recently debuted with the song 'Secret' on the PLUR vol.4 compilation for Lobster Theremin, returns to his label this time with the 'Magic Series' of 4 beautiful rave tracks from the 90s.

The A side offers two wonderful classic old school jungle sounds, which recall the crazy times of that golden era. Cheerful pianos and twisted well-known vocals take us into a magical world.

On the other side, 'Fantasy' and 'Euphoria' at a slightly faster pace of 140 bpm, brings us killin' happy hardcore vibes. Who doesn't remember the epic sample 'Can't beat the system'? Used again in the 'Fantasy' with the new arrangement will definitely destroy the dancefloor on more than one occasion.

Zeta Reticula returns to Mechatronica with a radiant tale of astronomical phenomena and deep-space molecular development - a more than ideal backdrop to the EP's four powerful and diverse electro tracks, built by the acclaimed Slovenian producer also known as Umek.

Following up on his "I Am Mensch" record released on Mechatronica last year, Zeta Reticula takes the listener on a light-speed journey from the earliest organic compounds, past the dazzling formation formation of life, between orbiting double stars - and finally into the unknown, stretching obscurely far-reaching parsec units.

A record that was literally everywhere in '93 and still rocks any club today, '20Hz' is undoubtedly an all-time anthem with it's combination of rolling, thunderous drums, glacial marimba-like melodies and a tense trance inducing atmosphere that literally lifts the dancefloor to another place. 'Didn't I' is also a proper old-school peak-time stormer, it's uptempo, dripping in positive vibes with sampled soulful vocals and chopped up drum breaks all encapsulated within a real rave sensibility. Closing out the EP we are treated to 'For The Soul, Body & Mind' which is a much darker, deeper and menacing vibe than the previous cuts. More in line with the earliest fringes of jungle, hardcore and bleep tehcno the track takes us on a journey into the heart of the night with it's bass heavy and intricate sound programming and breakbeats, proving that Hans Weekhout was an extremely versatile and open minded producer. Overall, a truly classic and essential EP from the heyday of European house and techno that still packs a punch today!

London-based DJ and producer Jay Duncan collaborates with saxophonist Ben Vince on her debut release for Phantasy, introducing two wildly imaginative compositions alongside a simmering remix from Ricardo Villalobos.

From the first notes of brass, quickly melting into a lucid shuffle, it’s clear that ‘In Limbo’ exists on its own terms. Vince's virtuoso playing, a feature of former collaborations with the likes of Joy Orbison and Mica Levi, is here gradually manipulated by Duncan into a hugely ambitious trip. This meditative and mysterious approach draws listeners deeper into a liminal, minimal space somewhere between the Fourth World as imagined by Jon Hassell and four AM on a dancefloor in South London.

Duncan deftly raises the tension for the title track’s more percussive and arguably club-ready sibling ‘Anti-Purgatorio’, drawing out almost impossibly taut and inventive rhythms constructed around wormholes from which spill Vince’s instrumentation, washed downstream amid slippery modulations and a distinctive
analogue atmosphere.

Ricardo Villalobos adds to his own superlative history of remixes with a characteristically trippy take on ‘In Limbo’. Spanning nearly fifteen-minutes, the legendary Chilean-German innovator subtly reimagines this ambitious record in form true to both his own musical heritage as well as Duncan’s futurism.

As the Summer sun begins to fade and the shadows grow longer, FireScope returns to record store shelves with an EP from the label’s founder; Steve Rutter. Reflecting this change in the season, Science and Neuroses explores sounds that reverberate with darker tones. Introspection is central in the cold currents and fragile melodies of “Neuro Fracture.” A deeply psychological piece which casts images of woodlands, night skies with a suggestion of something altogether sinister stalking the opener. Echoing samples introduce “Not to be Trusted.” The track skulks in a haze of bass as notes ghost through a heady mist of claps, kicks and snares. Steeped in the traditions of ambient and atmospherics, Rutter creates an audio landscape of unsettling vistas and alien forms. “Divine Intervention” is emblematic of this. Bold and expressive, harmonies are allowed to float freely with new ideas and shapes drifting and gliding into the arrangement. To close, “Reds Dead” brings the EP full circle. Xylophonic notes bob on juddering patterns of cymbal and tom as distant keys rise and fall in a silvery blue sea of meditative waves. With this quartet, Rutter has given the listener a privileged journey into his musical mind. Watery shades mingle and melt in wintry hues, eclipsing canopies obscure and magnify elegance, fractured and fragmented phrases fusing through freeform.

In the nineties, renown DJs and producers Leo Mas and Fabrice, gave life to a group of successful music labels. Muzak, Pin Up, Models Inc., Spock and Informal became legends in their own right. Ultimo Tango decided to open their vaults and bring its contents back to where they belong: dancefloors all over the world.

The first in a long series of future releases, “Non Volevo Ma Volavo” captures 90’s Italian dance subculture. Sunburnt shoulders, flashy Fiorucci shirts, colorful cocktails and moderate doses of ecstasy: this small pill of pure euphoria will bring you back to the golden age of the electronic “dolce vita”.

Dead Dreams Don’t Die vol 1 marks the inception of Half Grand Records, a label focused on no-frills, raw talent electronic music. This artefact contains new output from several members of legendary Borft Records. Nimam (Spregleda) gives us a riotous and exuberant Drum and Bass banger that will have your teeth jingling. Jon Doppler’s signals transform from searing blasts of psychedelia to soaring synths that will make you pine for days of yore. A Stantz drops some body music that's equal parts acid and mosh pit. The closing track is by a group specific to the label; Cracktros. Cracktros is a collaborative group project that will continue to grow as more artists join the HG fold. With this number, the collective explores fantastic textures in this riveting deep house ditty. Keep your eyes peeled on this label.

Taapion Records open 2019 with a highly anticipated four track EP from rising talent Hadone, as he drops his 'Definining Persuasion' EP on the label on 1st February.

Celebrating five years since its inception, 2018 revealed yet another impressive year for Parisian imprint Taapion Records, with a production debut courtesy of label co-founders Shlomo and AWB via their new Eysennah project in summer swiftly followed by the release of Shlomo's highly acclaimed stand-out debut album 'Mercurial Skin' to close out the year, also marking a first for the label in the process. Opening 2019 with authority, the label now returns to bring one of it's most anticipated releases to date to wax, welcoming Brussels based live act, DJ and producer Hadone to the label to deliver his 'Defining Persuasion' EP following releases from the ever-impressing Frenchman on the likes of Code Is Law, Grounded, Ravage and more.

Opener 'How To Fake Success' sets the tone immediately, with the impressive combination of entrancing synths, driving percussion and rich stabs quickly revealing why the production has become such a staple of label owner Shlomo's sets in recent months. Next up, the classy 'Optical Glasses' drops the tempo to provide pockets of serenity amongst breakbeat drums, hazy atmospherics and hypnotic melodies throughout.

On the flip, 'At The Beginning It Was Only Noise' picks up the pace as booming kicks, escalating leads and skipping hats collide to reveal a cut packed with both drive and emotion, before 'Party Monster' closes proceedings, combining haunting, twisting vocals, crisp claps and sharp menacing low ends to deliver a high-octane ride perfect for the peak time.

It started, as it so often does, with two old friends hanging out.

John Shima and C P Smith were joking around one evening in their home city of Sheffield. At some point, Smith challenged Shima that, if the latter could produce a record using nothing more than a small modular synth setup, then Smith would release it on his Central Processing Unit label. As heads will know, while Shima has drops on imprints like FireScope and Subwax Excursions to his name, he had never previously released anything via CPU. Shima accepted, and thus we now have his CPU debut, the four-track EP CPU Modular 1.

The specific setup that Shima worked with for these tracks was Smith's Doepfer A-100P6 Suitcase, a small but mighty combination of modules and programmers. It's no surprise that Shima was able to familiarise himself with the equipment in double-quick time - after all, Shima was an early adopter of the Eurorack modular format back in the day. What emerged from the CPU Modular 1 sessions was a quartet of devastatingly effective DJ tools, mid-set rollers which will get the dance moving something crazy.

Opener '003' kicks the EP off as it means to go on. There's something at once stiff-necked and buoyant about the rhythms here, all thwacking Roland tones and snares which crack like someone whipping a length of sheet metal. While the beat barrels unyieldingly onwards, the programming in the tuned modulars is more exploratory and even trippy, full of delay-laced bleeps and flighty rhythmic motifs. It comes together for a cracking mix in the vein of artists like Jerome Hill and London Modular Alliance. Second A-side cut '010' is no different, the street-beat groove and grumbling low-ends underpinning all manner of modular wizardry.

CPU Modular 1 is really timeless stuff, a set of percussion-heavy, future-focussed beats which recalls Smith's own CPU drop 'DJ Tools Vol.1 - 808 Tracks'. '011' kicks of CPU Modular 1's second-half with a dose of Drexciyan dystopia, playing an atonal loop off of an insistent bass wiggle and neurotic hi-hats. Even when Shima tightens or slackens the modulars here, '011' remains unyielding, a dose of pure 'Wip3out' energy that you could happily groove to all day long. The EP closes out with '005', a gnarled, gurgling production which still retains the dancefloor punch of the rest of the record.

For his Central Processing Unit debut, John Shima was tasked to produce four tracks using a single small modular setup. Unsurprisingly given the pedigree of this seasoned machine-funk pro, Shima aced the assignment.

Glasgow’s Lady Neptune follows her New Gorbals Gabber cassette E.P. with her debut vinyl release NOZ. Over the course of 23 bloody fisted minutes, Lady Neptune’s – aka Moema Meade - hyper destructed take on Gabber and Happy Hardcore breaks down the genre tropes before rebuilding them as a new pop music. If 2020’s New Gorbals Gabber showed an artist building their own language from fragments of different genres, 2022’s NOZ goes harder into the cyberpunk-ass future and takes no prisoners. Recorded and mixed at Glasgow’s legendary Green Door Studios and mastered by Rashad Becker, here Lady Neptune evolves into a monster.

With the classic weapons of Dutch Gabber – distorted 909 kick drums, bursts of noise and world-eating Rave-O- Matic hoovering synth riffs, Lady Neptune’s 6 tracks constantly threaten to careen off the speaker into the sweatiest, most gibbering, messy corners of the club. The two years since her debut has seen Meade destroying festival dancefloors, training for the full assault that is NOZ. Live performances have seen foam guns, tequila-pistols, neon stage dancers and a full, maxed-out orgy of fast-as-hell BPM, rave music burning up the cones. The experience reaps rewards from the outset on recorded form here. APOCOLYPS begins with monstrous vocals and the all-consuming kick, pulled back and taut for launch. The arsenal builds; warbling synths and high-pitched synth-strings before dropping into Bald Terror-sized hoovers and stuttering 4/4s. It quickly bleeds into MASTERER, with a looped, pitched up vocal intersecting with the synth riff. The aesthetics might be Happy Hardcore but the dynamic feels like a synthetic, evil Nu Metal-influenced Industrial music. Constantly evolving and twisting with its own natural drama, the drop at 2:15 is pure ecstatic release. fusing Meade’s inclination for pop hooks with the first out-and-out 180BPM (ish, who’s counting?) anthemic melter of the E.P., TELL ME has THE big catchy chorus, used sparingly and sung by Meade with angelic devilishness, coming at you in waves of XTC. It’s a repeater.

It’s then massive fists in the air for the ruthless Side B opener WIT. In the Welsh-Brazilian artist’s adopted home of Glasgow it translates directly as WHAT!? Itt makes sense. g. Sharp, weaponised, rhythmic punishment abounds before OH responds. Pitched up vocals and another mid-frequency synth hook wipes the slate clean. Like the best Gabber, the tension and release dynamic is used to full effect by Meade, with the thunderous low end kick -expertly tweaked in the mastering by Rashad Becker – slipping into the ghostly cavern. Industrialized 4/4 and noise-snares propel onwards to be utterly squashed by that bloody synth, stinging and horribly brilliant. Proving her genius for a ridiculous A-N-T-H-E-M, TIME 2 MAKE U FEEL GOOD closes the 23 minutes of ragged, drugged glory with a festival-slamming chorus built from the wreckage. It’s a song that does that thing we all know and love but can’t put our finger on. Sad, happy, tragedy, ecstasy, joy, horror...There’s big, minor chord changes (yes there’s some CHORDS on this slammer), the kick is submerged in layers of pads and Meade’s actual secret weapon: her vocal and knack for writing a chorus line. In the listener’s mind it’s over before it’s begun, a track destined for the big rewind.

NOZ is a breathless, E-number riddled eternal ecstasy.

While combining Oakenfold’s uplifting, melodic synths with Fonsi’s emotional vocals, they take us on a journey where the hopes of an undeniable connection are enough to conquer the world, especially in these troubled times. Co-produced by DJWS (Lady Gaga, Pitbull), The World Can Wait is the first single to be released from Paul’s new album, his first since critically the acclaimed A Lively Mind (2006) and Bunkka (2000) will veer down a decidedly chilled out path, making it an incredibly listenable album and not one solely crafted for the dance floor. “I just love the song and the meaning of the lyrics. The song came about during a writing session I was doing with a few writers and we took it to Luis Fonsi and his team who loved the song as well. It’s a good taste of what’s to come from my studio album – it’s mostly melodic songs and very cinematic with great singers and interesting beats. It’s something you will want to sit down and listen to in its entirety rather than as individual tracks,” Oakenfold says.

Remastered rarities by the late Susumu Yokota under his 246 and Prism monikers. Go Up was originally a defective release which has since been corrected and remastered and Vol 3 - 02 was not released. It also features a megamix of Ambient Love and Squeeze Up (which feature on Cosmic Soup 005) by Gene On Earth and a remix of Flare's Grip - Prism Remix by Matthew Herbert titled "Herbert's Make It Right Dub". Dial Records boss Carsten Jost joins Hypallage Project and Potomac to deliver four hypnotic cuts on their Avant-Propos imprint.
Carsten Jost aka David Lieske is the co-founder of Dial Records, the formidable German record label with twenty years’ worth of standout releases from artists such as DJ Richard, Roman Flügel, Efdemin, fellow co-founder Lawrence and Carsten himself to name a few. ‘Cruise’ EP sees him join the newly formed Parisian imprint from the Spazio Tempo residents Hypallage Project and Potomac following the first pair of releases on the imprint that picked up support from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Oceanic, B.Traits, Conforce and many more. Carsten Jost’s remix of Hypallage Project’s ‘Cruise’ from the last EP gets things rolling with ethereal pads, dubtinged atmospheres and glistening melodies which unravel gracefully throughout before Hypallage Project’s ‘Endless’ continues with absorbing ambience balancing muddy soundscapes and meditatively, engaging tones.

On the flip, Carsten Jost’s ‘Credit de Cloture’ is a rousing, stripped-back cut featuring tranquilising synths, serene leads floating above twinkling, aquatic melodies and deep-riding drums until Potomac rounds off the EP with ‘Gasless Starship’ which beautifully harmonises laid-back, breaky percussion, sparse modulations and soothing compositions subtly giving off an entrancing aura.

Testkard 225 was a pioneering industrial project by journalist Danny Beller, which released a handful of cassettes during the 80’s and was a major influence for the electronic and experimental scene in Israel.

Genbaku was the 2nd cassette Testkard 225 released and the 1st to be reissued by Confused Machines. It was originally recorded and released in 1988. Only 30 copies were of officially made and they were quickly sold out. However, thanks to “illegal” home taping, it reached hundreds around the world and made an important mark on the emerging industrial scene in Israel, while getting some decent exposure via the tape trading phenomena around the globe.

Recorded on a four-track with minimal electronic equipment in desert city Beer Sheva, Genbaku is about a world collapsing into dystopia, caused by a drastic event or a virus, that disrupts the existing order of things, kicking off with a seemingly optimistic opening, then going through a darker phase and eventually reaching a safe harbor.

After being considered as a “lost tape” for three decades, it was rediscovered and reissued for the first time, mainly due to the persistence of Noam Rosenberg, owner of the Youtube channel “Boredom Lives Here”, and now it’s finally available again digitally and as a limited edition cassette with the original artwork via Confused Machines.

A celebration of L-O-V-E

Release that shows the evolution and sound maturity of Niño Árbol in relation to his introspection and exploration of analog-electric instruments. The result is a well-rounded Ep with an original rhythmic base that leaves the paradigm of the traditional 4/4 metric, giving life to a new sound that'll serve as a turning point for Mexican Techno. Bittersweet atmosphere and emotion that go from the profound to the dreamy, through forceful percussive and organic psychedelic texture.

The debut from new splinter alias of Manchester producer, sequencer designer, and Cong Burn label boss John Howes was made entirely on a Nord Modular G2, Elektron Machinedrum, and Monomachine – a rig he characterizes as “an authentic 2006 studio, best listened to on Windows XP Media Player or Winamp.” Paperclip Minimiser’s self-titled full-length collects eight elusively multi-dimensional constructs of stereo panned synthetics and slithering ambient techno, born of a web of generative patches subjected to improvisational alterations. Taking things further, Howes’ process involves “planting ghosts in the machines,” instilling each element with “some self-correcting behavior in a cybernetic / lo-fi AI / semi-autonomous agent kinda way.” The result is an ambiguous and dynamic hybrid of accident and intention, chaos and control, shuffling through an innerspace wilderness of psychic circuitry.

The title alludes to a 2003 thought experiment about the existential risk of artificial intelligence; how even a mundane objective, algorithmically extrapolated, could culminate in catastrophe. Here the notion is inverted, demonstrating the sonic infinities to be mined by “pushing and pulling at the strings” of musical systems. Howes aptly samples a vintage interview with electronic music pioneer Bebe Barron – co-composer of the Forbidden Planet soundtrack – discussing the anthropomorphic potential of randomized audio generation: “We thought of our circuits as actors in a script.” Paperclip Minimiser descends from a similar family tree, coaxed as much as crafted, flickering rhythmic synchronicities glimpsed in a mirage of wires and glass.

Trip Recordings follows the huge success of its first three releases with a third double-vinyl album, once more curated by label owner Nina Kraviz and featuring gatefold artwork by in-house artist Tombo. The release draws on contributions from established Trip members Kraviz, Population One and Nikita Zabelin, in addition to new artists added to its expending roster including K-Hand, Philipp Gorbachev, Vladimir Dubyshkin and Roma Zuckerman.As established with the label's first three releases, TRP004 will function as a soundtrack to a scenario and its accompanying artwork from Kraviz and Tombo. The title 'Ivan, Come On! Unlock The Box!' (, ! !) is inspired by the track contributed by Philipp Gorbachev (Comeme/PG Tunes), from which Kraviz has extrapolated a story of a rule-defying Russian maverick who is 'searching for the key to the future'.Set for release in mid-November, TRP004's two twelve-inches orbit around a nucleus of talent drawn from label boss Nina Kraviz's homeland of Russia. In addition to 'I Believe I Can Fly (KLM Delayed Flight Version) - one of her own 'road tracks' produced during the producer's hectic global touring schedule - Kraviz has enlisted a quartet of her countrymen for this latest collection. Philipp Gorbachev contributes his most uncompromisingly techno track yet, while Moscow's Nikita Zabelin follows his label debut on TRP003 ('De Niro Is Concerned') with the sinister minimalism of 'Bells'. In addition, TRP003 marks the label debuts of Vladimir Dubyshkin and Roma Zuckerman, both of whom were recommended to Kraviz by Zabelin. The former - a true outsider, just 17 years of age and based in the remote Russian town of Tambov - follows an early 2015 LP for SUB-AMP Records with the disorienting off-kilter techno of 'Lose Yourself', while the latter marks his first ever release despite years of producing with the unsettling 'Geburt Part 2'.

Completing TRP004 are two defiantly individual international artists: K-HAND makes her Trip debut following a two-decade career that's seen her become on of Detroit's true underground, and relatively unsung, heroes. Her contribution, 'The Box', finds her clipping effortlessly within Trip's aesthetic, with a heady textured acid potboiler. Two more Barcode Population tracks, excavated from a mine of undiscovered Nineties-made rarities, complete the release with furiously paced techno rollers which will remain strictly vinyl-only.

Our story begins in Jerusalem 1980 – Zadik Zecharia – a folk musician whose speciality is the Zorna – a traditional kurdish woodwind instrument – recorded a cassette of kurdish melodies played on Zorna and Dola, a kurdish drum.

The tape was released independently and distributed mainly around the kurdish-jewish community in Israel. Zadik mostly performed at weddings and ha as / celebrations and was also known by the nickname “Iron Lungs”, because of his ability to take only a few pauses for breath during his long gigs.

In 2005, one tape found its way to “Something on the Road” – an underground CD-r Jerusalem based label which reissued the music on CD-r. Overnight, these intense melodies became a cult phenomena in the hipster-ish circles of Jerusalem and beyond. The kurdish melodies could suddenly be heard during dj sets, topping electronic beats, or adding drones to heavy experimental sessions. which later led “Something on the Road’s” founder to initiate a remix compilation with Jerusalem’s nest producers. One of them is your truly, Mule Driver. The remix has became a cult by its own.

Fast forward to present time, a conversation with Legowelt about folk music led Mule Driver to dig an unreleased longer version of this techno remix. As well as ask the mighty Legowelt for his interpretation, that turned out as a killer acid track followed by an EBM – electro belter by Juju (Juju and Jordash) and PRZ (Clone).

After featuring on the label with a contribution to Erell Ranson’s “Hand In Hand” Remix EP in 2018, SUED co-operator SW. punches back in on KOC with a hectic six-track sonic journey by way of inaugural transmission.

Crest-surfing the margins betwixt abstract beat-making, hardware experimentation and further explosive club-ready wares, the German producer breaks the trip in with the tropical hot "ariaJA" - reeling out a savvy mashup of animalian field recording, spaced-out FXs and loopy elastic bounce.

Cranking up the heat, a notch further, "moonNEWsoon" pulls out a hot mix of muscle-aching breaks, jackin' n’ smackin' toms and iridescent synth stabs, all coated with a thick sauce of mind-boggling machine stunts. Flip sides and here comes the further shape-shifting, non-formulaic "mASsLESS", which invites us to see straight through glassy cascades of skittish snares, gummy synth arpeggios and futuristic chimes as an Eden of AI-rendered birdsongs and forgotten melodies come to life before our eyes.

Back to a more dynamic mindset, “justMUST4y brings lush flights of altered piano chords and pop-informed harmonics face to face with a gritty, metronomic drum work to weave another singularly off-kilter epic SW. holds the secret of, right before "VFXpeaksTWIN" wraps it all up in a soul-invigorating, Twin Peaks-scented and horizon-broadening ambient finale.

Tammo Hesselink inaugurates his newly launched imprint Rear View Memory, intended for occasional dumps of personal works. On this first release the Dutch producer combines his rhythmic side with his modern hypnotic techno approach. The A side contains two UK techno inspired tracks that lie between soundsystem-ready dj tools and atmospheric floaters. The B side contains a percussive techno-not-techno roller and a halftime drum & bass workout in collaboration with Romanian producer DYL.

A new collaboration of Philoxenia Records founders Luigi Di Venere and Neu Verboten, Affekt Unit is informed by an aim to "spark new feelings on the dancefloor". The three track Discorgy EP celebrates their musical obsessions - Italo house, Frankfurt EBM-house and trance - with the result proving an electrifying crossover of these classic genres together with surprising new sounds. 'Oct-Opus' boasts a serious electro component, fused with progressive trance, UK bass, techno, transcendental rave and even a climactic outbreak of rave-era breaks. The title track 'Discorgy' draws from Euro dance and EBM, experimenting with a polyrhythmic bass line and bringing the kind of 'stadium house' that The KLF were always aiming for. Closing track 'Dreams Of Wrestlers' is cosmic house at its sweetest and beefiest, spruced here and there with Italo stabs and pianos, drum machine fills and some lovely subtle filtering. Not so much a case of something for everyone than everything from everyone, you might even say.

Alexander Kowalski presents two wonderful track-highlights, produced in collaboration with Funk D'Void and Joris Voorn. This 12" wants to give you a taste for his upcoming album which was released for the first time in 2005.

The Funk D.Void remix of Alexander's "You Think You Know?" was the beginning of a really efficient team play between two exceptionally gifted musicians. Alexander Kowalski made a remix for Funk D'Void in return and after having a good collaboration both decided to compose a track. So we listen tot Alexander Kowalski's and Funk D'Void's first track in cooperation "Can't Hold Me Back", accompanied by the well-defined deep vocals by Fritz Kalkbrenner.

Alexander Kowalski and Joris Voorn have been knowing each other for a long time. They also did remixes for each other like Joris' Tribaliscious Mix of "Days Of The Liar" and by this way they found their musical solidarity. It was obvious that they had to do a track together: "She's Worth It" is their output of the team play in the studio.

"Alexander Kowalski with Funk D'Void and Joris Voorn" proves us that these three global-techno-players complement one another perfectly and let us listen how wonderful it can be...

The Mysticisms label welcomes Coral D aka Duncan Stump for a debut outing here that marks the first new music to be part of the ongoing and most excellent Dubplate series. This artist has a long history of crafting "deep dub electronic swing" in his roles in Mock & Toof, FX Mchm and his 6000 Degrees project. This one finds him bringing some dub reggae influences as 'Dissolves' is built on a chugging rhythm with smeared chords. 'DR 55' is then a masterfully laidback digi-dub groove that warps space and time and so leaves you utterly hypnotised.

The seventh release of Sasaki Hiroaki's Yotsume-Music sees Hisashi Ito aka Hulot (Raum...musik, BELOW, FROGMAN/U.S.B.) welcomed to the fray, quite possible, given the EP's title, taking influences from Mr Hulot, the hero of Jacques Tati classic film 1953 'Les Vacances de Monsieur Hulot'.

Like said hero, there's a kooky, loveable eccentricity to his two productions - he counts Herbert and Moritz von Oswald among his main influences - with Tom Ellis Remix and Sasaki Hiroaki Remix adding a remix, one on either each side.

Founded in 1996, Adam Beyer's Drumcode has become synonymous with all that is exciting about techno. Having completed a landmark year in 2011 with their 15 Year anniversary that included a 12-date club tour and a 28-track various artist compilation, Drumcode gets back to the future in 2012 with a busy schedule of releases. Followers of the label will recognize familiar names within the schedule with projects confirmed from Adam Beyer, Joseph Capriati, Ben Sims, Alan Fitzpatrick, Kaiserdisco Gary Beck, Slam and Gregor Tresher, that will appear alongside debut EP's by Jay Lumen, Sam Paganini, Nicole Moudaber, Victor Calderone, Manic Brothers, Mark Reeve and Bart Skils.

Despite an international reputation and an ever-broadening roster of artists, Adam Beyer's Drumcode has remained distinctly Swedish throughout the labels 15-year history. Beginning the creation of the Drumcode blueprint via Beyer's own material, continuing through contributions from fellow Swedish trailblazers including Jesper Dahlback, Cari Lekebusch, Joel Mull, Par Grindvik, Patrick Skoog, and Thomas Krome and emerging Swedish talent such as Patrick Siech, Nima Khak and Nihad Tule, the vast majority of Drumcode's near-on 100 releases to date have originated from Sweden. As the label nears their century landmark it is fitting that they give a full debut to Manic Brothers, the latest production talent to emerge from the ever-prolific Swedish scene.

With their 'Moving Forward' track widely regarded as one of the highlight cuts from Drumcode's recent 'A-Sides' compilation, Manic Brothers make their full debut on the label with this four-track EP of elegantly industrial techno. 'Custom Illusion' sets the tone for the EP's mechanical yet melodic aesthetic, shunting and shimmering in equal measure as it weaves a tensely poised atmosphere. 'Black Bay' works up a full force groove punctuated by a pitch-bent elastic hook and panning effects. 'Restless' continues the exploration of sparse feelings with a marching, cavernous groove and abrasive pulsing pads while 'Gone Too Soon' conjures up an enchanting wall of sound with the distinctive melodic hook adding a warm hypnotic charm to a backdrop of resounding, pounding beats.

There are even some 93 style dark stabs thrown in for good measure. "Serotonin" has a really feeling of nostalgia to it. There is a beautifully uplifting string section with vocal chops which gets the goosebumps going

This is a proper look on producers solo material mainly focusing on strong sequencer based hypnotic driving techno that would easily be in the same box as music produced by Regis and Sleeparchive. For Tresydos’ third release, the Greek duo BODJ and Roksi debut their new, hardware only, live project Adult Sonics with "Hands in Motion" EP, featuring two of their freshest tracks to date plus a tasty remix from Vagara.
