Danish producer Uffe presents his innovative third LP Words and Endings, which further explores the boundaries between post-punk, dub, UK bass hybrids, and spiritual and free jazz. His first full-lengthouting on genre-breaking London imprint On the Corner, Uffe utilises the techniques that have long fueled his reputation as a purveyor of offbeat sonic fusions and delivers a diverse trip that leans into unusual territory with thrilling and unpredictable results.

More than 20 years after it first launched, and 15 years after the last release, Gaetano Parisio has revived his well regarded techno label Conform. Now back to take up its place at the heart of the international scene, The first release of the new era is the start of a new CONFORM RE-TOUCHED SERIES which will be released over the coming months and contain classic Conform tracks that have been re-edit by big techno artists.

The first release contains four tracks plus one digital only bonus with heavyweights Ben Sims, Mark Broom, James Ruskin, Truncate and Stojche all stepping up. UK techno legend and Machine man Ben Sims is up first. His Hardgroove edit of Gaetek's is a brutal track with driving drums and unrelenting synths that bring it into the present day with a real sense of style. Mark Broom is another long time techno titan who has released on the best labels from M-Plant to Blueprint and he edits the B1 from C&G Southsystem's Dual EP. The result is an edgy track with big hi hats and hammering drums all run through with some bright synths that melt your mind.

James Ruskin is another vital techno player who runs his own legendary Blueprint label. His edit of a track from Gaetek's Advanced Series Vol. 1 EP is deep and hypnotic, with wooden hits and warped bass wrapping round the toughened kick drums. Truncate then tackles the same track and is known for his focus on the deeper, raw side of techno on 50 Weapons and Soma. His edit is just that - deep and atmospheric, with subtle keys up top as the busy and hard hitting drums power the track along.

Last of all, Stojche's Re-Chord of Stanny Franssen's Between the Lines is a digital only that is designed to get whole clubs and warehouses on the end of their seats.

This is a fantastic way to relaunch a much-missed techno label and marks the start of a great new series.

UK electronic legend Carl Finlow makes his full debut on Avoidant Records with the clinical Engines Of Creation EP. Easily one of the most highly respected producers to come out of the UK, Carl has a discography going back over 20 years and spanning multiple genres. After his first outing the label as part of the "Defend Your Planet" compilation, Carl drops 4 classic, superbly produced cuts of hi techno electro funk.

Title track "Engines Of Creation" opens in true Finlow style with robotic beats and flexing, otherworldly synths. "Dead Centre" bangs hard with it's disruptive, fast paced percussion but leads down darker paths with ominous, spacial FX and atmospheres. The frenetic sounds of "Sonic Six" continue Finlow's innovative and funked up trajectory before closing out with the interstellar trip of "Reckless", that bounds through the the cosmos, radiating it's high energy output.

-Container is the solo project of American-born, London-based musician Ren Schofield, who over the last decade has refined a signature sound combining his background in drumming and lo-fi noise with techno and rhythmic electronics, cementing himself as a distinctive and disorderly force in modern electronic music.

-‘My intentions and goals for this record were to make it way more‘rock’ oriented than ‘techno’, almost as if it could be aband or adapted by one (albeit a rather non-traditional one), and Iwanted to incorporate some potentially awkward sounding timesignatures, but do my best to disguise them as something digestibleand not without a groove.’

Just like Freddy Krueger, Final Dream resurrects from the past to haunt your nights and deliver to the masses his threatening message. Author of a mighty album and three collector EP's on experimental techno label Audio Illusion Recordings from 1995 to 2002, British Electro veteran Phil Klein aka Bass Junkie returns with a vengeance under his most frightening alias. 19 years after his last transmission, he serves up a new four tracker full of his infectious strain of corrosive and weird electro.

The A-side opens with the mental "Dark Flow", a pounding tune based upon hammering beats surrounded by sinister strings and a gloomy atmosphere. The title track "Project Fear" coming next goes deeper into the realm, merging lethal frequencies to demonic beats.

The flipside introduces "Force Majeure", a milestone of an instant classic made of robotic drums sequences fused into subtle acid lines while "The Devil's Playground" concludes the 12" with 7 minutes of brain manipulations. Present "Project Fear EP" appears as an opened window to the future, an invitation to foresee what Evil is cooking for you in his laboratory. Just a reminder that there's no way to hide, accept your fate, nothing can stop the darkness!

The legendary G Flame follows up this summer’s debut on No.19 Music with ‘I Want You', a fantastic LP drawn from his musical vaults that proves why the UK based artist is such a vital part of electronic music’s history.

G Flame aka Cisco Ferreira, is the solo artist behind the legendary project, The Advent, which originally included former production partner Mr G. He has long been a pivotal player in the development of house and techno, as a DJ, producer and also an engineer working with greats like Larry Heard, Derrick May and Adonis. Cisco has released on seminal labels such as Jack Tracks, R&S, Novamute and Tresor, has remixed New Order and always brings a unique musical vision to his work.

The legendary G Flame moniker was originally used for Ferreira’s more house infused, techno sound, something he developed in the early 90s. Says the artist, “Back then there were very few tech house tracks being released. At the time I called it 'house techno’ as my main vibe was always house music first, with added techno spice and faster BPMS for DJs.” That description is a simple but effective one that sums up the visceral power of this new record, a record which features tracks predominantly written between 1992 and 1999.

The first two cuts are previously unreleased gems, opening with the ducking and diving drums and intense synth work of 'I Want You', and followed by the old school 909 workout of piano-infused house, ’Freetown.’ The buzzing low frequencies of ‘Broken’ burrows deep into your brain and was released as a single on this label this summer, then come previously vinyl only classics ‘Thoughts’ which brings brilliant dynamics and a pulsing bassline that is overlaid with trippy melodic motifs and sci-fi details, and 'Up All Night,’ which is ghetto house perfection with its bristling drums and percussion, knotted bass and frenzied vocal stabs.

The final four previously unreleased tunes kick off with ‘Lynn Grooves’, a perfectly reduced piece of rubbery techno to get you in a sweat, and ’Stringer,’ another urgent and compelling house cut that races along on slapping drums and scraping hits while subtle vocal sounds add soul to the power of the machines. The stellar ‘Turnmills’, is a loopy, chunky and futuristic wedge of sci-fi tech that is sure to make you march and last of all, the fantastic '6am' is a zoned out affair with far sighted cosmic chords, bumping kicks and more tender vocal sounds that finds, like the rest of the album, a perfect sweet spot between house and techno.

This is an essential collection of music from an artist who has been at the very heart of the house and techno scene for the last three decades, and is sure to enthral both his industry acolytes and new fans alike. It also marks another high point for the ever impressive No.19 Music as we close out 2020.

A name familiar to Hidden Recordings, France based JC Laurent
returns for the fourth time with Distressed World. As with each release,expectations are high and the young Frenchman impresses with hislatest body of work. He delivers three original tracks inspired by thecurrent state of global affairs: underlying tension, shifts in mood withthe need for a steady hand. Accompanying the release on remix duty isBerlin's Oliver Deutschmann, well-respected for his diverse trackselecZons and varied soundscape, his recent discography includes a2018 release on Luke Slater's imprint, Mote Evolver. Showcasing his
broad palate of sound, he is only a handful of talents who has DJ'd both Berghain and Panorama Bar over the last 10 years.

Berlin based record label Equilibrisme delivers its second vinyl release. The next instalment is a three tracker EP including one original track by Man-L and a special collaboration between Canadian producer Mark Thibideau and Man-L. Detroit’s Luke Hess contributes with an outstanding remix on the B-Side.

Long term Seven Hills friend and collaborator Thee J Johanz returns to wax for the third instalment of our original release series.

This release runs close to the heart for Johanz as it was produced in the wake of his mother’s passing and stands as a profoundly personal eulogy for loved ones passed. Where Goes Your Soul? has all the trademark spiralling synth lines and hypnotic rhythm making that we have come to love in Johanz’s music making.

The title track of the EP: Where Goes Your Soul? stands alone on the A side but carries more than enough weight to hold its own. Stabbing synths build alongside a subtly haunting vocal, up to an awesome crescendo and intoxicating groove. Kicking off the B side is Two C Bee, an aptly psychedelic mix of soft pads and helical synth arpeggios. The EP closes with an impressive bubbling analogue landscape, Analex. This beat-less masterpiece with a sincerely cinematic feel, rounds things off in style.

Transparent Sound returns in 2021 with another well overdue reissue. Originally released on Solid Groove in 1999, Night & Day is an EP that showcases the versatility Transparent Sound offers as an artist. All while retaining the groove focused backbone which makes him a legend in the electro scene.

Back on Kalahari Oyster Cult after a maiden incursion in 2020, Brussels' boldest club explorer Andrea Mancini, alias Cleveland, resurfaces with “Golem” - a helluva four-track trip spanning Arcadian shimmers, bobbly swamps of disproportioned FX and other off-piste routes swiftly veering into the wild wild west of house production. Treating sound like an entomologist magnifies the dazzlingly lush shapes and colours of insects, Mancini overexposes his elements, clicks, percussions, pads, clicks, et al. to a profusion of playful procedures.

Opening cut “Forest” sets up the scenery into serenely alive woodlands, where slo-rattling percs and wonky polyrhythms gently coalesce with further entranced congas and alien gargling, shaping up to an off-beat symphony of sorts. Adding a steelier spin to his macro views of teeming cellular life, “Trullo” blends in a propulsive mix of dynamic drums, fluttering chimes, aqueous dub, and squelchy sub-bass moving incognito.

Dwelling the flip is the title-track “Golem” and fellow KOC affiliate Junes’ remix, each bringing along its distinctly unique palette of colours and sensations to the table. While the original mix rather focuses on the in-betweens and über-detailed immersive quality of its audio CGI, merged with a sixth sense for wrong-footing stop-and-go sequencing, Junes remix puts rhythmic straightforwardness back at the centre of considerations, cranking the tempo up a notch without stripping it bare of its vital textures and ideas lavishness.

As Dense & Pika, Alex Jones and Chris Spero have garnered an enviable reputation for making devastating club ordnance that finds the sweet spot between dark, mysterious house and roaring, brawny techno. With over a decade of material under their belt, Jones and Spero are set to release their first studio length debut album, ‘Colour Burn’ via London major imprint BMG on 4th December, home to the likes of Leftfield, The Prodigy, Holy Ghost and Faithless.

‘Colour Burn’ is a 13-track composition crossing through downtempo house and electronica, built as a conceptual sonic representation of the pair’s live audio and visual set up. The album is a step away from harder and faster material and a move towards a more leftfield sonic trajectory, featuring a handful of impressive heavyweight features of Jones & Spero’s musical heroes who have informed the Dense & Pika output.

Released today, album moment ‘Honey’ features the master of sensual, slow-burn techno, Matthew Dear whose contribution to ‘Honey’ arrives in vocal form – a breathy, brooding ensemble of spoken word that glues perfectly with the duo’s trademark rough and textured sound palette. It helps turn what Alex calls “a headsy, dusty piece of housey tech” into something sensual and otherworldly.

Dark and smouldering, it seems to the suck the air out of the room like a tightly packed subterranean dancefloor deep in the throes of night. Glitched out percussion and fizzling hi-hats feel caustic against the track’s low-end frequencies. The thumping bassline and kick drum combination delivers punch and pressure to the mix in a true Dense & Pika format. Matthew’s sauntering vocal contribution guides the track into a deep and hypnotic groove well equipped for any late-night excursion. “The boys sent over a lengthy jam, but there was that simple loop that stood out and had me hooked. I put it on repeat and let the mind and pen wander. It’s a bit of cosmic abandonment, brazenly sung by a professional of the night.” Matthew Dear

Elsewhere on the LP, standout track ‘Hidden’ features the drums of Sepultura’s legendary metal icon Igor Cavalera resulting in a fabulous frenzy of percussion and driving rhythm. The equally momentous and unforgettable ‘Control’ features the heavily robotic vocoder of Leftfield’s Neil Barnes aiding and abetting in its quest to be a high-octane, twisted rave jam.

The impressive features on ‘Colour Burn’ are an insight into the hugely artistic and visionary A&R skills of Alex and Chris and the start of a new chapter for Dense & Pika kicking off with the long-awaited release of their first studio length album.

Jaded by a world in which receiving a notification justifies interrupting conversations and people travel from one end of the world to the other just to take selfies, 4 compadres in search of meaning find themselves in the depths of the Canadian forest to embark on the longest jam session of all time. Beard Man label boss Mark Broom returns to Radio Slave’s Rekids with a swinging techno focused four-tracker entitled ‘Raver EP’

Since the early 90s, renowned UK artist and DJ Mark Broom has been cherished for his consistent output of rhythmically charged techno and energy spiking performances with releases on Warp, R&S, Soma, Hardgroove and Blueprint alongside collaborations with artists such as Baby Ford, James Ruskin, Discrete Circuit and Gary Beck. A regular on Rekids, Broom's contributed numerous releases and remixes to Matt Edwards' label - notably last year's massive 'Break 97 EP' - and his next outing sees the prolific producer return with four more versatile club-focused cuts.

‘Raver’ opens with boomy kicks, splashing cymbals and aggressive stabs until ‘Insta’ trembles the floor with rolling snares, driving rides, distorted claps and arpeggiated synth patterns. On the flip, ‘Midnight’ takes retro sounding keys and adds peak time drive with lofi drums, distant vocals and a sleek funk line

One of the biggest trance hits of the new millennium gets a 2020 makeover and a fresh squeeze on hot wax. Push – Strange World is given the remix treatment by Belgian dynamic techno duo Joyhauser, alongside the anthemic 2000 Remake. What can you say about M.I.K.E. / Push, the guy is a legend, a musical genius having crafted countless tracks under several guises, and he is still going as strong as ever today. Taken from the album, From Beyond, Strange World really hit the big time in clubs and festivals thanks to its soaring melodies and euphoric climax. After the great success of 'Der Himmel uber Berlin', the second release on 'Envlp imprint' is signed by another South Italy's talent: Drum Communicate is a project of drummer and composer Francesco Varchetta.
The EP take the name from the first track, 'The Fast Line', which show all his talents as a musician, producing an 'Ambient' track with Detroit's influences.

French producer Marla Singer returns to Bipolar Disorder to release an emphatic techno EP titled "Complicated Issues" with remixes from Vienna's Codex Empire and Arts Collective's Introversion.

Murky oscillations, thumping kicks and growling resonance take the focus in "Complicated Issues" before Codex Empire's remix delivers machine-like atmospherics with rumbling low-end and screechy melodies.

On the flip, "Go Again" offers winding synth flutters balanced with obscure oscillations and rattling percussion until Introversion's remix throws down breaks tinged percussion, angelic pads and emotive break downs which harmonise creating a euphoric ambience.

Born in Kawasaki, Kanagawa pref. in Japan, Mikio has been listening to the wide range of various music including house music and started to produce his own music from 2012. Stuart Evans, aka Sordid Sound System is one of the founders of The Green Door Studio, a not for profit, analogue recording studio in Glasgow which emerged from an increasing disillusionment with the modern ways of music production. His sound holds outsider qualities, being everything but generic and predictable, mixing dub with movie soundtracks in the tradition of Carpenter and Italian likes.

On this 7” released on Höga Nord Rekords, SSS deconstructs and rebuilds music in an imaginative style, pairing tribe-ritual “back to ape”-beats with synthesized cosmic harmonies. In a way, we are enjoying straight up dub here but this record is also a display of the vivid and creative Glasgow scene centred round “The Green door studio” and record labels like “Invisible Ink” where krautrock and 80’s/90’s electronic music is part of the foundation. Boundless joy for every girl and boy!

AGT Records return to their Editions series with the reissue of a sizzling 4-tracker from Stabilizer. Originally released in 2001 on Boom Box records, its sound is a scintillating hybrid of breakbeat and electro and a prime example of the glory days of the early 2000’s breaks scene.

As electrifying breakbeats pound away beneath clinical high-hats and percussion, each track has its own personality and character. Mysterious samples and melodies are used to powerful effect, creating a sense of intrigue in amongst the beats. They are expertly placed and relieve the pressure of the tracks at just the right time, allowing the dancefloor to stay locked in, head down.

While all of this is going on, rolling basslines create warm grooves that keep things pushing forwards, the chunky bass weight balancing with the ice-cold elements above.

This record captures the hedonistic spirit of the rave from two decades ago, and with things beginning to open up again that feeling is due a return to the dancefloors. Moving from the living room to the main room, it feels right to get this one back into circulation, all in good time.

Arad, real name Dara Smith, first joined the VOITAX catalogue in June 2020. Back then, the Irish artist served us up with "Radiance Haze" - a 6-track EP, spanning from heavy-hitting breaks to the ethereal ambience, with heavy features of Smith's vocals. Known for his multidisciplinary vision on music, he has also previously made seminal moves with his work as one half of Lakker, alongside Eomac, dropping groundbreaking music on heavyweight labels such as R&S, Blueprint and Stroboscopic Artefacts. For his second EP on VOITAX, Smith now returns with five beautifully crafted tracks that he titles "Augmented Fantasy". While following a similar approach, he does not fail to expand his repertoire of celestial dream-like atmospheres, which he carefully surrounds with a whole variety of vocals, and accurately placed broken drum patterns. In addition to his own singing, Arad also presents two impressive collaboration tracks, in which one of them features the voice of Stine Omar, also widely known as one half the Berlin-based pop duo EASTER. Driving rhythmics and processed, grainy vocals turn this piece into guaranteed hit material. Victor Calderone has a very colourful history within the music scene working with the likes of Sting acting on Madonna's recommendation to remix 'Desert Rose' after also remixed Madonna's 'Frozen'.

Having previously worked with Nicole Moudaber, they released a joint EP on Drumcode named, 'The Journey Begins' to great success. As a solo artist and DJ, Victor has been a resident at Roxy in New York and Liquid in Miami and has been working in the music industry since the early 90's to great success.Victor Calderone has stepped up for his first solo release on Drumcode with his two track
single, 'Burden'.

Featuring two energetic tracks, 'Skin' and 'Burden', Victor has used effected vocals to create funky rhythms over the top of some steaming kick drums. Thesynth stabs lend themselves well across this EP particularly in 'Burden' where they really augment the flow of the track.

The use of percussion phrases throughout both tracks on
the single also reinforces the grooves and adds character to create a distinctive sound that keeps the single fresh and exciting.

Grand St., the upcoming release on NYC's Maddjazz Recordings, is a 7-track EP from the duo Pharma - the musical group of long time friends, Sam Katz & Milo McBride. While they’ve spent the past years operating in different musical landscapes, Pharma is their most recent collaboration and features guest performances by rising stars, anaïs + Wati Heru.

At its heart, Grand St. is pop music, but performed through a dusty lens of bittersweet melancholy. The release is offered both in digital formats on all platforms and as a limited 12" Vinyl (100 copies only). The artwork + design was done in collaboration with Phil Wong and Lucas Mascatello.

Our first release of 2020 is a deluxe 2xLP reissue of Severed Heads’ debut 1981 album ‘Clean’. One of the longest surviving bands to emerge from the Australian post-punk independent music scene, they began in Sydney in 1979. Severed Heads is basically a nom- de-plum for Tom Ellard, who incorporates elements of ‘industrial’ noise-generation, tape cutting & looping and electronic sound synthesis.
As the project developed song-structures and vocals were employed in a more-or-less recognizable mutant electro pop style.

‘Clean’ was amongst the first vinyl releases under the Dogfood Productions banner of Terse Tapes, previously a cassette-only label. For this records Tom used an array of synthesizers (Kawai 100F, Casiotone, Roland CR78+SH1+CSQ100), sequencers, tapes and occasional guitar and violin played by Garry Bradbury. Severed Heads have a language of their own, music that juxtaposes all sorts of noise, in all sorts of ways so that a structure evolves, (fragmented) melody and rhythm being almost a by-product. As one reviewer said in 1981, “It is an ugly album that you simply cannot ignore, it thuds and screeches and makes you stare just to wonder what kind of people would procure such an album.” For this deluxe reissue we’ve included a bonus disc featuring 13 songs, 5 of which have never been released before, culled from live performances, the ‘Side 3’ cassette and a ‘Clean’ demo tape that only surfaced last year, plus "Food City" missing from previous reissues.

All songs have been remastered by Tom Ellard, with vinyl EQ and lacquer cutting by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. Each copy is housed in a gatefold jacket featuring black and white xeroxed artwork from the first vinyl edition. Inside the gatefold are liner notes by Tom Ellard plus photos and press clippings from the period. “‘Clean’ is original and powerful and everybody should listen to it at least once, just so they know where the boundaries lie.” Ashley Crawford, Virgin Press 1981. 25% of proceeds will be donated to the Australian Fire Relief Fund for First Nations Communities, that offers specific direct support to some of those communities with critical costs to cover expenses.

Tomas Jirku began his career in the golden era of minimal and glitch techno, helping to define the genres through releases on Alien8, Force Inc., Klang Elektronik, and Traum. Over the past two decades, Jirku has built a strong repertoire with his exploratory approach to music, experimenting across genres to develop a sound he can call his own.

"Touching the Sublime" is the culmination of this work, with material transformed through performance, experience and introspection. Inspired by his explorations of the remote wilderness that surrounds his home in Vancouver, Canada, Jirku evokes the philosophical concept of the sublime, where an overwhelming experience of awe confronts us with the limits of our rational minds. The album is a synesthetic auditory expression of Romantic era prose and stories of early alpinism. Bringing epic orchestral compositions and intimate guitar passages together with Jirku's unique sense of space and texture, "Touching the Sublime" draws from his most important collaborators and influences to create a uniquely personal result.

For the second release on Futurepast, MGUN aka Manuel Gonzales offers a fresh take on his Detroit roots with three tracks that escape the usual categories. No two subsequent bars are identical, simultaneously reflecting and satisfying our curiosity. Gritty drums and panned-out synth sequences in 'The Nerve' result in a suspenseful yet unmistakably energizing step. 'Snap In', with its funky, reverb-soaked highs and hefty breakbeat, demonstrates MGUN's talent for folding in his electro and hip-hop influences. 'Intent' recalls a dreamy, vintage slideshow projector, misplaced memories lining up in a heartfelt procession. Each track taps into an elemental feeling within, fitting snugly into Futurepast's time-traveling vision.

Psyk's Non Series label keep sup a busy 2018 with a new EP from Pris. He's an artist with a deep heady techno sound that has previously found a home on the esteemed likes of Semantica, Avian and his own Resin and now serves up four more of his serene and stylish tracks.

Flagrant Foul is the busy opener. A flurry of 909s set the tone as a sparse, paranoid synth echoes around the mix up top to make for a deep techno track a real eeriness. Leech is then a tunnel vision groove which is streamlined and stripped back to icy ticking hi hats and rumbling bass, and Submit is a dark passage of interweaving drones and edgy pads that takes you deep into a rabbit hole. Lastly, Velvet Lips features more bristling drum programming, but softened by the pensive pads that linger in the air above. It's cavernous, atmospheric techno that really sucks you in from start to finish

After a short hiatus, the dynamic duo of VSK & Conrad Von Orton return with their collaborative project, Symmetrical Behaviour.
After a steady stream of releases via Soma over the last couple of years. The pair took time out to focus on solo projects but return with a vengeance with the "Superconducting Harmonic Oscillator" EP which furthers their experiments in sound design and high-powered Techno.

Title track "Superconducting Harmonic Oscillator" kicks off the EP at a furious pace as highly charged atmospheres create and emphatically large sound for the pairing's suitably tough beats to hammer through. "Quantum Interference Device" goes down a more direct path as expertly crafted rhythms overlap against a backdrop of highly evolved drones and synths.

"Amplitude Spectral Density" keeps the tempo moving but leans on a more industrial tip with crashing beats submerged against articulately mangled synths that drive home the true force of the track. "Resonant Antennae" closes out the new EP from Symmetrical Behaviour and really has them show off their production prowess.

Jarring and off kilter rhythmic structure combine to deliver a truly head pounding track complete with the pairs stylistic atmosphere manipulation.

Voltage Festival is releasing a compilation of 4 EP's to celebrate five years of existence. The EP's are dedicated to four sub-genres of techno and represent the versatility in techno of Voltage Festival's line-up.

The series starts off with a classic techno EP called ‘Zener Diode’, followed by a deep techno one called ‘Wiring Harness’, an industrial release with the name ‘Circuit Breaker’ and closing with acid techno called ‘Resistor’. The artists featured on the releases already made their appearance at Voltage Festival, or are playing on this year’s edition.

After the 2020 release of Old Dreams And Memories, Icelandic dub techno linchpin Yagya returns for a second release on his emergent label, Small Plastic Animals. This latest venture marks a new chapter in the artist's accomplished career, having released on Delsin, Subwax BCN and A Strangely Isolated Place as well as forming a core part of the Thule collective alongside his partner in Sanasol, Thor. As those associations ably point out, the music Yagya crafts is spacious and atmospheric, using the techno tradition as a vessel for meditative as well as emotional exploration and experimenting with sound design according to a specific, patiently cultivated style. Always Maybe Tomorrow finds Yagya ruminating on the behavioural energy of environments as viewed from afar - the man-made electricity of urban expanses and the interconnected flora and fauna of ecosystems. Looking to his chosen tools as a means to express these ideas, he employed a non-linear approach to each of the four tracks on this EP, choosing to create musical systems in constant flux rather than composing each piece in a conventional left-to-right narrative. Yagya's trademark voluminous chords and vast pads ebb and flow through filters controlled by LFOs and randomness, creating their own micro-incidents and macro evolution as though holding a mirror up to the environments the initial inspiration was drawn from.

Anurak Boonliang is a young producer from Bangkok. As a child, he was trained as a musician for the traditional Thai shadow theatre. Nang Yai, as it is called in Thai, is an acting genre counted among the shadow plays with large picture panels made of parchment, which is cultivated in the center of Thailand around the capital Bangkok. The immovable figure plates are each carried by one actor and danced to the music of Pi Phat. Boonliang's journey from Pi Phat, the classical music ensemble of Thai music, mainly composed of percussion instruments, to working with drum computers and synthesizers was a short one.

Aura Dinamica continues its exploration into hypnotic, wide angle Techno with a dense eight track missive from Italian producer Matteo Ghiringhelli’s new project Atoloi. In equal parts subdued & transcendental, the album pairs intricate, polyrhythmic drum work with carefully executed and gently undulating atmospheric motifs to generate a moving and immersive listening experience.

For its second vinyl release, Eternal Ocean is proud to present ‘Static Flow’: the debut EP of Timo Bürgler AKA Awo Ojiji. Creating his own unique sonic world, Awo Ojiji has delivered a four track body of work that feels at once fresh and familiar. Opening the EP, ‘Lifeforms’ swings out of left field with an off kilter swagger sure to inspire more than a few unique dancefloor experiences. On the interior comes ‘Grainhive’, a groover that strikes a deep and rare balance of emotive texture and raw bassline energy. Flipping over, we find ‘Laura’s Lodge’, perhaps the most oblique tune of the bunch, where slick and expertly crafted percussion compliments the alien sound design that rides out the tune into its own dimension. Closing the record, ‘Swarm Align’ invites the dancer on a journey inwards, deftly maneuvering through a myriad of sonic waypoints until finally finding its way home, to be filed straight away under ‘Deep/Last Song’. Based in Graz, Austria, and having honed his skills alone and through close involvement with the disko404 family, Awo Ojiji steps up in offerance of a unique and personal statement. Taking influence from the current climate and deep history of electronic music and finding a space that is honest and genuine, this is music for the body, mind and soul.

A Thousand Harmonies in Silence is an album that highlights the idea of being "safe". Since writing this record I wanted to portray personal memory and experience that had me feeling at peace. Each track signifies a special place, thing, person and time. All of which had some sense of security. I challenged myself to really embody these moments and record my guitar in single takes. I can only hope you enjoy listening to this record as much as did writing it.

A child of punk and noise, Pierre G. Desenfant, under the Blackthread monicker, pursues the multiple incantations of an immersive and inner quest, carved from the limbo of his own dreams, cinematographic miniatures where the intimacy of words and spoken word meets the chiseled luxury of analog machines.

In his songs of a new century, Blackthread experiments with the precision of the scalpel, an outstanding storyteller floating on vaporous synthetic mist. Sumptuous magnetic clouds in which balances an emaciated bass, choirs on the horizon, a soul keyboard or a minimal, almost hypnotic beat. We slide between scenes in sequences, carried by the echo of this voice dancing between the murmuring and the sung, hints of Gil-Scott Heron flirt with Pansonic, Coil and Eno-esque ambience.

Written and constructed over three years, his third album The Way You Haunt My Dreams was recorded with urgency in only a few days, with the contribution of sounds from friends Béatrice Morel, Frédéric D. Oberland, Stéphane Pigneul deOiseaux-Tempête, Rémi Dulaurier and the complicity of Johannes Buff (Zombie Zombie, Lee Ranaldo and The Dust, Enablers) in the mix. Contemporary photographer Gaël Bonnefon illustrates the album with his striking silver-toned clichés.

Blackthread is a story of development. Removing the traditional guitars and drums of noise rock in which he made his more conventional apprenticeship, Desenfant has reached a minimalistic formula in finding a new path. Constructed with minimal tools (a bass, analog synthesizers and his voice), his music, after these few years, expresses a plethora of sounds and feelings. Spoken words, whispers and explosions, this disciple of Brian Eno, Silver Apples and Alva Noto writes a beatless techno, rock devoid of guitar, an ambient enhanced with texts of icy beauty.

With The Way You Haunt My Dreams, Blackthread grapples with the tension of a certain genre of dark rock and literary post punk, superimposed in ambient music. Continuing with this sense of mood, Desenfant succeeds with this new album in developing a rare songwriting in experimental synth music. Blackthread is also a story of the voice. Never suffocated by acoustic research, the words of the vocalist give this disc its depth of personality, somewhere between neuroleptic reverie and confrontation with the musician's catharsis.

The third coming. Finland's otherworldly Electro lords Blastromen return to the Dominance Electricity mothership to deliver their much anticipated new long-player. Four years after Reality Opens, the ten new compositions featured on Cyberia continue where their last album left off and take it straight to the next level. Elaborate arangements with catchy synth melodies, haunting Electro breakbeats and epic, vocoderized lyrics prove once again that Blastromen are a class of their own.

Outer Gateways is the culmination of twenty years of friendship and countless years of anger, frustration, sadness, obsession, addiction, bad sleep, and poor mental health. The cycle of these feelings didn’t begin twenty years ago, and it won’t end in 2020, but the friendship began in the desert and won’t end this year, either, for two brothers - Gary Geiler and Kevin Palmer - who share concussions, floating head hauntings, bouts of self-deprecation and, most strongly, white hot anger towards those who bulldoze for a buck and a Black Friday piss-up. They are friends who make music to fight a failing future, not for an optimist’s sake, but to quiet their anxieties for a moment of sleep before the alarm clock drags the shit back into focus.

BOA is a brotherhood formed through almost classically cinematic settings: desert drives to pick up a small town’s Wire magazine; skating soundtracked by Public Enemy, Godflesh, Adrian Sherwood and No U Turn; copies of Burroughs, Ballard, Bradbury, and Borges traded between backwoods parties and band practices. A connection unharmed by circumstance and strengthened by time lays the groundwork for a creative, emotional exchange delivered in bass weight and Chronic forms.

Twenty years of the above (and way beyond) led to a release on Seagrave in 2015, before hunkering down to fine-tune their collaboration into the eight tracks contained within Outer Gateways. (The preceding 12”, SUS033, features material recorded after the completion of the album; Mosca’s remix pulls from sounds contained within the album.)

Kevin and Gary - who produce as Best Available Technology and Ovis Aurum, respectively - cast sonics to curse oil barons with rapid dick decay. Sound-making stops time as it silences the anger, focusing fatherly / brotherly frustrations towards those who hate unconditionally, who destroy without compassion, who desecrate for their own sakes and spit upon our futures. A tool to fight eco-anxiety and a map to chart the next twenty years, Outer Gateways is sonics proper operated like heavy machinery.

January is an odd month. After all the fanfare of the festive season the new year can seem like a damp squib. To clean away those Christmas cobwebs, FireScope have drafted in BOA and Mathieu Deranlot for their debut.

BOA is the collective of Behzad & Amarou and Ohes, the former pair being long time music aficionados with a residency in Concrete while the latter is a multi-talented producer and founder of Dynamite Records. Joining the trio is Mathieu Deranlot, a classically trained musical pioneer whose dizzying array of accolades include performances in the Palace of Versailles.

Burbling, juddering, whirling, Nitro comes to life with the synthesizer symphonics of the title piece. A beatless composition, the track simmers in a soup of modulated music where strings float across an echoing expanse. Although those softened subtle tones continue into “Lumière Électronique”, now they are cut with a thumping kick and scissoring snare. Toying with the motifs of techno, the work spirals arcs of melody with traditional undercurrents. Percussion takes centre stage for “Merci Pierre.” Bass drums make their presence known immediately, light and nimble keys dancing behind these broad beats. This playful balance gives the track a dynamism that allows these conjurers to paint vivid audio images of thick lush forests and duck egg blue skies. A spread of styles coalesces to create the enigmatic closer, “Nuit.” From plucked strings scented with eastern aromatics, aquatic piano notes and fragile droplets, the finale is the perfect end to this beautifully crafted EP.

Not only have BOA and Deranlot reimagined ambient techno, they have recast the genre’s foundations and reset its very core. In this beautifully profound quartet of electronic music this French group have married styles, given creativity freedom and produced a jaw dropping debut. What was that about January?

Wilde Calm Records is proud to present Omniscient Wildin’, the follow-up release to Boonlorm’s classic “piano not piano house” album, String Figures. A decidedly “techno” approach was taken for the six-track EP, with Boonlorm setting the master tempo to 130 BPM and utilizing a rugged economy to emphasize the rhythmelodic dialogue between the drums and prepared piano. This “percussion discussion” quotes the past syntax of Chicago and Detroit, the 20th century avant-garde and the bold new dialects being created for dance floors around the globe.

Byron the Aquarius (aka Byron Blaylock), an accomplished keys player as much as he is a producer, has a deep love for the organic side of music. This shines through in his creations, back to his debut EP in 2007. More recently, Blaylock's skillful jazz beats have found a home on the one and only Jeff Mills' Axis Records. From his birthplace in Birmingham Alabama, Blaylock has grown into an international figure of acclaim for his explorative compositions.

Already having two successful EPs with Shall Not Fade under his belt - most recently marking the labels' 50th release with What Up Doe? Vol.2 - Byron the Aquarius returns for a gorgeous double LP. Expect the smoothness of deep house, melodic instrumental hip hop production of the J Dilla creed along with tight jazz pieces.

The New Beginning LP showcases range and expertise from the off, exploding with pulsing discordant jazz in "Amaya's Voyage". Psychedelic g-funk is the MO of "Smoke One For Huckaby", before a B-side milieu of jazz and hip hop reminiscent of Guru's Jazzmatazz. The album settles into a deep groove across its C-side, the highlight of which is the percussive workout of "Underground Was Black", complemented delicately with dazed pads and buoyant but smokey lounge jazz sounds in "Cosmic Jazz". Off kilter hip hop shines through in "Last Time We Gonna Do This" and its eclectic sound palette, then we are blindsided by the heavy electro distortion of "The End Of The World". The record closes with a collaboration of the genres explored throughout, pieced together into the pumping "Lost People of Tron". The album feels like a lap of honour around all the influences in Byron The Aquarius' sound - it's yet another artistic triumph.

For over 4 years, David Coccagna aka Chaperone has been a constant part of Great Circles, as musician, art director, and muse. With Snapback Balaclava he once again fully embodies all of those roles, delivering three inspiring tracks, selecting his remixers with specific attention to their musical histories, and designing his cover art. Across the A-side, Chaperone scrapes away at the grit - personal grit, the grit of anxiety, and Philly grit. These are meditations on loops, and loops on meditations. Each one appears on the surface to be a brief quote, but time dilation takes over, and minutes later we discover that Chaperone has welcomed us into and back out of his own healing moment.
Like Chaperone's P O N D release (GRCR-009), the B-side of Snapback Balaclava is a Great Circles extended family affair with a trio of diverse remixes that expose and exploit fragments of the chaos Chaperone so carefully contained. Hitoshi Kojima (Thrive) reinterprets Pulse Feels Swells Beating with relentless syncopated rhythms and synth lines that hang like massive string drones. M//R lays down a signature percussion ensemble palette, zeroes in on otherwise peripheral elements of Grit Neglect, and then deftly navigates sea change with both. Matt Korvette and Sean McGuinness of Philly punk band Pissed Jeans open up the pit and finish the story, taking Femur Baseball Bat to its literal and brutal potential with monstrous vocals and kicks.

Fresh Fruits from Christian Kroupa accompanied by a remix from Fruit Merchant associate Manuel Fischer. This record marks the fifth instalment from Hidden Spheres Fruit Merchant Label and the first for 2020.
