The Lyon imprint Hard Fist strikes again with the collaborative Princes of Abzu EP, federating producers hailing from multiple horizons.

Although they may belong to different geographical spaces (London, Moscow, Amman, Tokyo, Paris...), the artists gathered in the EP share a common love for middle-eastern sounds and their transcendantal powers, which they mix with cosmic industrial beats, creating mystical imaginary landscapes, as if beduins were organising a pagan rave in a Düsseldorf factory. In addition with the producers, many musicians took part in this project, like for instance Mejwez's player Abu Sayah and Hervé Carvalho from Acid Arab who play in Semsemeh.

A hedonist move, caring more about vibes and feelings than borders and nationalities. Referring to a mythological source that is the sea to every river, Princes of Abzu is a drop in a global culture expanding its currents to infinity.

The opening track Place du Pont made by the two label heads Cornelius Doctor and Tushen Raï is built on a heavy hypnotic / electro bassline heightened with voices samples & oriental Oud sounds giving it a trippy flavor.

Halay is the fruit of a collaboration between Parisians Ko-Shi-Moon and Moscovites Simple Symmetry. The track (remixed by Cornelius Doctor) tells the tale of the Halay dancers reveling in circle, exhilarated by an industrial groove while strange synthetic voices whisper.

In the middle of the EP, J.A.K.A.M releases the tension and brings a meditative note. Jazzy yet exhilarating, Tribes sounds like a road trip in the desert while the sun is rising.

Producer and percussionist Shadi Khries is also inspired by the desert, one place in particular : Wadi Rum, in his home country Jordan. He mixes traditional instruments like semsemeh (which gives its name to the track) bouzouki and oud, with electronic acid textures that makes it perfect for the club.

Finally, Timothy Clerkin's track is a meeting of two his favourite worlds : guitar-based psychedelic music & dark, mechanical acid - all covered with a film of Eastern smoke, hypnotized by the tablas running relentlessly. Listening to the track is supposed to feel a bit like you're trying to wade through drying cement, somewhere in a dystopian future, industrial factory in the Middle East, obviously.

Fort Romeau returns with his first 12' of 2018 following a string of releases on Live at Robert Johnson, Running Back and Ghostly International as well as appearances on compilations from Rush Hour, Cocoon, and Mule Musiq.

On the A side, 'Pablo' unfurls with swirling arpeggios which build to a euphoric crescendo while the more heady 'Terracotta' explores polyphonic syncopated FM sequences and ambiguous chord progressions.

Leftback 013 introduces a contemporary series dedicated to bringing through new artists and friends of the label. Internal Connections Volume 1' delivers 4 tracks of stripped back grooves, dark melodic tones and organic instrumentation. Dudley Strangeways & Michael McLardy set the trend on A1 with a building roller using delayed stabs from the main hook that teases its way in towards the end of the track. A2 is by Midlands based DJ and producer Bunny, who plays regular slots at Birmingham's Rainbow venues as well as being resident for Social Underground and has played alongside the likes of Raresh, Fuse, East End Dubs & Sonja Moonear. Bunny supplies a stripped back groove focusing on the rhythm, with intricate hi hat patterns that counter with the bassline. Szymon Wnuk provides nine minutes of deep and twisted minimal for B1 that uses sparse rising base and an understated kick drum that carries the track. B2 welcomes Leftback resident Chris Boardman on his production debut that rounds the EP off with a heavier techno leaning feel that compliments the rest of the EP well. VINYL ONLY.

Florian Meindl kick starts 2017 with a special four-track vinyl only release 'Colorful Cage'. Released on his own imprint FLASH Recordings, the title track is taken from his forthcoming album 'Time Illusion'.

There is an exclusive vinyl edit of Florian's previously released foreboding techno track 'Nix Charon' and completing the EP are two further unique tracks 'Controlled Pressure' and 'Wild Sequence 3'.

As a DJ, live performer, studio producer and sound designer, Florian has over the years established an impressive producing base for himself in his Berlin based Riverside Studio complex with an exciting hardware set up including Modular Systems, an analog mixing desk as well as classic machines like Roland 909.
In anticipation for the LP release in early April, Florian has prepared a unique live set featuring a Modular System, the KORG Minilogue, effect boxes and a 909 drum machine which were used in the creation of the album which he will be touring throughout 2017.

Pisetzky's full debut album on Just This includes adventures into contemporary Techno music, fines ambient works, and unique broken pieces. An intense mixture of incredible warmth, weird fluffiness, mystic trumpets and high uplifts, the album is interspersed with short ambient and fragmentated interludes, each just a few minutes long: 'State of consciousness' and 'Tears of a rough machine' are serene and reflective tracks that give the listener time to breathe and bringing him/her back to more dancefloor focused tracks of the LP like Viridis, Bakwas and Wand. The energy of his songs is also appreciated by the names of the techno world, from Boys Noize to Laurent Garnier. Ahead of the release of Honey Dijon's upcoming remix album 'Xtra', Maurice Fulton, Ashley Beedle, Derrick Carter and Horse Meat Disco step up to remix records from Honey's debut full-length work 'The Best Of Both Worlds'. On the A-side is Honey Dijon featuring Joi Cardwell 'State of Confusion', Maurice Fulton giving it a New Jersey-esque lilt and allowing Joi's voice to resonate. Next up Ashley Beedle ups the tempo and the energy on his mix of 'Burn', Honey's collaboration with Tim K featuring Jason Walker. Tachyon Audio is a vinyl label that's focused on sounds in the techno realm targeting sweaty, dark dance floors, with large, high-quality sound systems.

Inhabitants come back strong in Mutations Volume II, Tachyon Audio's second offering. These two primates are often found inhabiting dark spaces, forging ahead on complex math equations. Their distinct, driving, mathematical, and drumming techno is a result. Expect more solid work and performances from these two mysterious beings on Tachyon Audio as the label continues its progression.

Tachyon Audio's second release follows a similar format to the first, in that, TAC002 is a diverse EP that touches on techno sounds that are helping to lead the march forward into the future of sound production and style. The second Tachyon Audio release also comes from the mysterious dark studio of Inhabitants, who build off their first, and display their precise, technical forms of production.

The A-side track, Mut11 (A1) is a sci-fi exploration that pleases the ear with thick sub and low basses, along with a pitch-twisted melodic element, and the Inhabitants distinct sound effects and automation. The track has a strong impact immediately, as you can feel the intensity of elements being added, manipulated, and combined, and a sturdy, grimy feel pervades the piece with an interesting driving rhythmic percussion.


Side A ends with two separate open-source NASA samples. The first, Sounds of Enceladus - Radar Echoes from Titan's Surface (A2), is a locked groove and according to NASA, 'was produced by converting into audible sounds some of the radar echoes received by Huygens during the last few kilometers of its descent onto Saturn's moon, Titan. As the probe approaches the ground, both the pitch and intensity increase. Scientists will use intensity of the echoes to speculate about the nature of the surface.'


The second sample, Cassini - Saturn Radio Emissions #2 (A3), is another locked groove. The sound as described by NASA, 'Saturn is a source of intense radio emissions, which were monitored by our Cassini spacecraft. The radio waves are closely related to the auroras near the poles of the planet. These auroras are similar to Earth's northern and southern lights. This is an audio file of radio emissions from Saturn.' These samples are poised for reuse in production and make for good intro and looping material during performances.


The second side of the EP starts with Mut1 (B1), a track that is well-rounded percussively, with a strong kick drum driving the track forward. A simple looping and effected tom drum also helps keep a good movement to the track. An ominously melodic pad that evolves subtly throughout the track helps to keep the Inhabitants err present throughout the track.


Mut8 (B2), is another acidic venture with solid percussion. The looping and other melodic elements provide a solid stricture, with the more adventurous sounds being placed and effected incrementally with distinct Inhabitants flare throughout the track.

The next EP on Raum Musik is coming from our dear friend Jorge Savoretti. Jorge is hailing from Argentina and is one of the main artists in his country besides Franco Cinelli. We have been following Jorge's work for quite a while and now it was the right match as for our label. We are very happy about this release and we hope that you enjoy the tracks as much as we do.

UK talent Josh Butler has made a rapid ascension since he burst onto the scene in 2013, winning coveted awards from Beatport and DJ Mag. He now brings his production prowess to Hot Creations, delivering a club ready two-parter for his debut EP on the label.

Title track Anonymous is made for low ceiling, sweaty basements with its deep, growling bass and select vocal cuts. Doesn't Work swiftly follows suit, delivering another dose of rolling, after-hours goodness. A mainstay in the industry, having released on labels such as Cuttin Headz, Relief and Desolat, Andrea Oliva steps up for the remix of Anonymous with an acidic bassline and lively breakdown that diffuses into a carnival of synths.

Since emerging on the scene back in 2013 with his debut Got A Feeling on MTA Records, Josh Butler has firmly established himself as a musical force to be reckoned with. Releases followed on coveted labels such as Kaoz Theory, Rejected and Cajual. In 2016, Butler also launched his own highly regarded imprint, Origins.

Token's agent of hyper-detailed stereo excursions provides an understated epic for TOKEN80. Search Party is functional and crunchy, with Burchett's trademark stressful dischord almost unheard in the high end and a mid-crescendo element panned to dizzying perfection. Microdose is agitated: The naive introduction of simple, perfect fifths is gradually manipulated into unruly sophistication while the sparse percussion occupies ever more imaginary space. Boundary Interactions sustains an enduring diversion with a keen balance between captivating suspense and gratuitous payoff.

For its third release, Here To Hell welcomes Melbourne (via Adelaide) veteran, Rambl, and his incredible groover 'Doss'.

This third release on the label happened purely by surprise, and what a discovery! The track itself is no accident, but the signing took place after a chance encounter. Richard Campbell aka Rambl, who is one of Melbourne's best and most consistent DJs since the last two decades, had developed a small cult following of viewers via facebook, where he had been providing live video coverage of Australia's wild weather in a kind of comedy-weatherman format. Once these updates caught our attention, the magical facebook algorithm placed all of his content at the top of our feed.

One day his video moved away from the wild South Australian coast and into the studio. Rich - who we also know for his huge stature akin to an NBA basketballer, and his brain for Mathematics and Computational Biology - was bopping that giant brain up and down and making his 'bass face', with a mixing desk and some speakers (and some beers) in the background. The soundtrack to this video was completely mesmerising. We sent him a private message immediately: 'what the hell is THIS!!!'

His reply: 'This is one of mine, it's not finished yet but it feels good'. Our reply: 'It feels INCREDIBLE!!! Finish it and let's put it on wax!'

So today we bring you 'Doss' and we expect you'll love it.

On the flipside we've invited another Melbourne man, Sly Faux, to demonstrate why he's appearing in the playlists of Richie Hawtin and Maceo Plex, and why his EP on Nicole Moudaber's Mood was a bestseller. He's also just remixed The Presets and continues to impress with his tight productions. Sly Faux's remix takes the original Detroit-inspired techno-funk and twists it into a different kind of main room banger.

Inner Surface Music is proud to present its next release from JK Flesh, Justin Broadrick needs no introduction fans of hardcore, metal and industrial music will know him from Napalm Death, Godflesh, Techno Animal, Jesu and Pale Sketcher to name a few.

'Wasplike' see´s Jk Flesh enter a new strain of his techno, the drums are both distorted and sculpted for the dance floor. Heavy and syncopated rhythms build tension while an elastic bass-line hovers and mutates around melodic washes. 'Mindprison' is a pummelling techno cut, sleazy grooves snake around the thudding kick drum and the greasy bass spreading across the dance floor like an uncontrollable oil spill. Dissonant chords and bell sequences modulate and enter us into a more tripped out dimension. 'New Build Estate' starts with pure tension the hats are fizzling and the low end is hammering, sharp mutilated synth sequences cavort to each others intention and lush pads enter us into the unapproachable splendour of empyrean . This is peak time rawness with real sophistication. 'Dark Horse' is the archetypal JK Flesh track. Slower in tempo than the others but as the name suggests this is a deeper cut but it still lacerates the speakers with the grungey bass-line weaving through the stomping overdriven kick and metallic percussion. The groove is undulating and as it flows it twists and turns before your eyes, while dark textures scrape around the walls in the distant echoes.

Blurring the lines between drum & bass and techno often tested by friend and occasional label-mate Pessimist, Overlook delivers four of his most atmospheric, genre-busting tracks on Osiris Music uk.

Opener 'Down The Rabbit Hole' leads with frantic tribal rhythms, before the eponymous second track slows the pace a little to lock the listener in a claustrophobic club full of slo-mo swaying bodies, distant vocal samples reverberating around even-more-distant hits.

On the B side, the pace continues to slow: 'Residual' drives forward with a sustained tension and breathy hints at something lurking in the shadows, before 'Crisis' eschews beats altogether to explore a more sombre mood: an ambient piece that feels like it's just been unearthed from a forgotten time.

The second NEW YORK TRAX Imports record is by Endlec from Thessaloniki, Greece, a rising techno star affiliated with the Mord Records powerhouse. This thunderous concept EP consists of four recordings produced in April and September of 2016 at UTR Studios in Greece. All tracks were programmed and recorded live in one take with almost no changes to their arrangement. The outcome is unbeatable 90s sounding hard and raw techno, which you rarely hear in the present era of artificially polished sound.

Collecting Orders For Repress

Legendary Italian techno label Unrilis, founded by top producer Rino Cerrone and A&R'ed by Luigi Madonna & Roberto Capuano, turns 10 in 2016, and this next EP is the first of many special anniversary releases planned by the label. It comes from acclaimed talent Enrico Sangiuliano and features a stunning remix by Mark Reeve.
Enrico Sangiuliano came up through illegal raves and is now a top DJ who plays all over the world and has his music played by the likes of Adam Beyer and Sven Vath. He has had the longest ever running techno number one on Beatport (his remix of 'Can You Hear Me' for DJ Boris on Alleanza) and is one of the best selling artists on the site at any one time. His music comes on Cocoon and Drumcode amongst others, and is powerful, direct stuff for the dance floor.
Written entirely in Italy, "X-Pollination (or cross-pollination) is fundamentally the key factor of growth, consciousness and life," says the artist. "It's the way I connect with people, share my passion, fly from one place to another and put many influences and elements into my music."
The title track is eight minutes of slow burning but hypnotic techno funk with rolling rubber drums and nervy pads. Frazzled synths add post apocalyptic vibes to this main room anthem and many well crafted peaks and troughs along the way help make it even more standout. It is a real techno classic in the making.

Mark Reeve is the UK star who remixes. He has a long history with techno that goes back to the rave scene. Since then his education has taken in trips to techno mecca The Omen, has resulted in music on Cocoon and collabs with Pig & Dan. He has also released on Drumcode and has a big rolling sound that fills the world's finest clubs and warehouses with his unique grooves. His take on the original is more energetic, with searing synths, cantering kicks and a dark energy that makes you pump your fist and stomp the floor. It is full of drama and is perfect balanced from start to finish.
This is another fine release in a landmark year for one of techno's most consistent performers.

Planet Rhythm kicks off another double pack project and this time the one and only Rotterdam techno governor Bas Mooy steps up, presenting a big time essential double pack, which techno lovers worldwide can't won't and shall not miss! Watch Mr Mooy team up with none other then Ortin Cam & Jeroen Liebregts and watch his tunes get the remix treatment by people like Dj Boss, A.Paul, Wavemother & Exium!
Either way essential status has already been reached by the A1 track, called 'White Pony'. Watch those hands rise towards the sky for this gruesome techno beast. Just watch the drop, then watch the people.. It will speak for itself. Dj Boss takes Bas's 'Bloedneus' to a whole new level. Dark alley warehouse sounds all the way! Just when you thought.. Wheres the Bas... it starts hitting you on the B2 with 'Kadaver'. The man himself on a solo mission with some heftyness ready to fill up any arsenal that needs upgrading..

By teaming up with partner in crime Jeroen Liebregts (aka 1/2 of Radial) they deliver warm beats, injected with some warehouse funk and fueled by industrial gasoline. A daring mixture with grand proportions. Wavemother takes on the 3rd remix in this series and boy, if you like some quality good ol techno, this is the one for you! who's your mommy The Mooy is back again on the D1 with some more of that gooooood ol techno sound! Feel the industrial vibe in this one. Something this guy is a king in doing, maintaining and moulding like its nothing! Hear the Kofferkuli Murder and you know we're right! Last but not least Exium steps up for the final remix treatment. The side may be called D2 but this could easely be the A1. Trance sounds sliced and diced like only those amazing spanish people can pull off! The digital release features 3 extra bonustracks, remixes by A. Paul, Diabla Diezco and Oliver Kucera.

Broken Arrows are Sudeep Menon & Bill Ambrose, both long time affiliates of Magic Waves radio and Cyber Dance records. Here they don 4 new tracks for the Vivod imprint making up their second ep. A slight departure in style from their first outing on Giallo Disco a couple of years ago, these tracks still have that unique mechanic box jam sound they are becoming known for. Female Predator kicks things off in a techno fashion. Charging drums lead the way with a cool throbbing bassline. Fear Eats the Soul is more of an instrumental 80s wave track with its laid back pads and structure looping away with ease. Title track Edge of Darkness is the stand out track on this ep and won't fail to hypnotize. Meandering pads in a cosmische style with rock solid drums , simply awesome. Basic Structures finishes the ep off and this is more towards their jamming style from their previous ep, more aggressive, blistering hats, slamming kicks et. Great ep again from Broken Arrows !

After his joint ep with Sascha Sibler and his fabulous contribution for the ten years anniversary compilation of the label, Daniel Bortz returns to Permanent Vacation with his first solo EP since the infamous "Bella Avgvsta" Trilogy. Four tracks that are hard to pigeonhole and show the great variety of Daniel Bortz's production skills: You will find euphoric techno, hard hitting Dub, cinematic breakbeats and heart warming electronica, all dancing harmonically in a giant echo chamber.

Reminiscent of the infamous quote 'There are four lights", the release kicks off with an homage to the will of resistance. From Captain Picard to Orwell - may the (referential) chain of command is not as evident as H4L's sci-fi passion, the title track's power structure couldn't be wielded more efficiently: While stomping kick drums and subtle hi-hats build up a foreplay full of suspense, the witty melody with its warped and distorted sounds grants 'Four Lights' the perfect authority. Following a similar approach, 'Fesch' with its bouncy and mantra-like groove, in which synths playing a ping-pong game, completes the swinging A-side. Deep'a & Biri, the Israeli DJ and producer duo from Tel Aviv, start the flip side with their interpretation of 'Four Lights". By using breaks and greater attention for details, the remix not only redirects the originals' energy into more hypnotic realms, Deep'a & Biri extract the melody's keys in order to create a moody and dense version. Resonating from two decades of warehouse reverberation experience, 'Disc 2 Dysnomia' finishes the release with an IDM-drenched workout, full of UK bass knowledge, unpolished electro grooves, and swirling synth poetry. Absolute freedom means absolute lawlessness.

This one has been a long time coming. Great 12's never get shelved at LDDLM, time is not the essence.

Benedikt Frey has been part of the extended family since his remix of CAR's Idle Eyes and we crossed paths a few times at Robert Johnson in Frankfurt. INIT, his project with his other half Nadia d'Alò, has seen releases on neighbours such as Hivern or Correspondant, our door was naturally open to their pretty personal brand of 'off-kilter techno' as RA says.

STEREOMETRIC is almost a definition of INIT's acid mind. Failing their own tricks, heavy atmosphere and unusual restraint. NUTS is almost an instrumental extension of the title track, when your head finally hit that window pane. WHEELS slows the rush down, wandering on an imaginary Khyber pass. This is only deception though, MINDWORK being a real exercise in post-goa trance.

Forging a distinctive sound in todays crowded Techno landscape is no easy task. Madrid based Mario Campos aka Kwartz has grown his robust, propulsive sound into one of the most interesting and vital strains of modern Techno. After notable releases for Mord, Warm Up, Pole Recordings, and his own label 'Order & Devotion', we are excited to present a 6 track Kwartz offering for Horo.

Purists will have their desires satiated with the driving, undulating title track and dancefloor favourite 'Altered States Of Consciousness' while the rest of the EP sees Mario take his style into exploration mode. 'Beyond Belief' functions as an emotive centre point to the releases' varied moods, while the off kilter static of 'Over A Sign Recognition' and the writhing bounce of 'Recoil' and 'Frame Dislocation' complete the carefully sculpted form of the release.

'Body Sedation' works in a listening environment as well as it does on an open minded dance floor, and we can confidently say, it's built to last.

Urge Theory' is the debut solo EP from Japanese artist Maiko Okimoto aka Lemna. Following on from her collaborative EP as Ourea alongside Sam KDC, Urge Theory sets about establishing the Lemna style. Rollicking hypnotic polyrhythms and a distinctive touch to creating driving tension are Maiko's signatures, with a track like DLPFC interjecting an elastic vigor into her style. After introducing her live set to Europe at Berlin Atonal 2017 to rapturous applause, Urge Theory delivers on the promise of a new sound for modern techno.

Inner Surface Music is proud to present its next release from Canadian duo MDD.

Falling Inside opens the ep bringing together industrial and punk prototypes of the duo's influences in the shape of a techno stomper. Chunky kick drums and gnarly textures fizzle and pop to the march of the industrial rhythms before the low slung bassline and abstract vocal cuts take the track into a darker realm. Tension builds and welds together heavy broken kick patterns with crisp but rusty percussion demolishing everything in sight. The elements amalgamate together creating tension with walls of sub bass, while remaining spacious and nonchalant with glacial atmospheric pads, dropping and breaking like a thunderstorm overhead.

Truth + Method has a pulsating punk like groove, pumping kick drums play off lacerated snare and high hat hits. The groove is relentless, funky bass lines, distorted vocal stabs and obscure concrete style pads fabricate as if melting in the tape machine. Techno music with an organic industrial feel, warm analog sounds with a metallic and vicious sensibility.

Destruction Of Metaphysics is a true representation of the MDD sound. Dark playful electronica walking the line between industrial, experimental and techno. The distorted bass and percussion are fully over driven in the mix pushing the elements to the extremity, clanging piston like snares drop to give structure to the savage groove. Noise and textured elements build and reverberate to let you feel like you are trapped inside the machines of a huge power plant, reduced but elaborate in style and experimentation.

'Blue 01' comes in the form of a split 12' release from Tessela and Lanark Artefax. It features Tessela's 'Glisten', a track we've loved and coveted since Joy O slipped into his essential mix in 2016. Alongside that is the 'Intimidating Stillness Mix' Of Lanark's 'Touch Absence', which we first released as a limited edition Whities dubplate back in 2016. London based experimental publisher Split Music has rapidly gained a unique reputation for its expertise in placing music in audiovisual projects, from Hollywood movie trailers like Blade Runner 2049, The Dark Tower & Mother to brand films for globally recognised designers Adidas, Dior & Puma. This reputation was affirmed this year upon winning the prestigious Golden Trailer Award in L.A. (for the use of These Hidden Hands' music in the brutal RAW Worldwide trailer). Now, from their headquarters at London's live music epicentre Village Underground, they have launched their latest project: the Research label. This new label will showcase the artists they represent by challenging them to push the boundaries of their production process to new levels.

Following on from Co-Ops Vol. 1 (COUNTER004), Counterchange continues the Various Artist series with an 8 track, double vinyl edition for its tenth release.
Joining the dots between a network of producers all pushing boundaries in their respective fields, label curator Inland (aka Ed Davenport) invited Boddika (Nonplus), Cassegrain & Tin Man (Killekill, Infrastructure New York), Distant Echoes (Dystopian), Pharaoh & Yogg (The Block Tel Aviv Residents, Parallax), Patrik Skoog (Sample & Hold, Headroom) and BNJMN (Tresor, Tiercel) to all submit new music.
The result is a heavyweight, diverse trip through modern techno, presented in a hand printed sleeve featuring artwork by Carina Wittmann, limited to 200 copies.

Brainwaltzera and Analogical Force move along the same path, without questions, and always looking forward. "Bunker EP" is the new piece of the puzzle, perfect to increase the legend to infinity.

The stage is set from minute one on Clay Wilson's new 4-track EP, "Skandha," his second release for The Bunker New York.
The eponymous first track begins with a familiar techno throb, but is quickly overcome by a blooming swirl of coruscating synthesizer pulses that seem to gather inside the listener's head, a phenomenon Wilson seems particularly interested in: "I've never been into really straightforward club techno that works in neat 8- and 16-bar sequences," he says. "I'm always looking for things that have forward momentum, ways to escape that 'block-y,' downbeat-centric feeling that you find in so much contemporary techno. For me, it's the drone—what's going on in the background—that serves to hold my interest."

Nowhere is this more apparent than on the record's second track, "Cataleptic." The meat of the track is its tightly-wound techno core built from insistent, hypnotic percussion, but it's what's happening in the background that keeps you coming back for more: The sound of a babbling brook and a plaintive, meandering bird call ("the only actual recorded animal sounds on the record," notes Wilson) gently give way to the tintinnabulation of a distant bell, whose meditative timbre brings to mind a Tibetan singing bowl. It turns out that the naturalistic, organic sounds in many of Wilson's tracks are often just that: "I make field recordings all the time, actually—on my phone," he says. "I've found field recordings have been a great way to pull things along, never repeating themselves, but also never being so upfront as to draw your attention away from the synths and drums."

That's a key point, and make no mistake—for all the flora and fauna lurking in the background of Wilson's productions, they're designed for the dancefloor through and through. "Feres," the EP's third track, slows down the pace a little bit, keeping time with a static kick-hat pattern while chunky, stepped percussion laid on top makes the track feel remarkably dynamic. The final cut, "Pict," seems to slowly unfurl like flowers at dawn, while a ghostly vocal sample (or merely something approaching it) repeats itself underneath it all.

While at times the drawn-out shimmering tones in Wilson's work may recall modern minimalism, "getting into techno, and more specifically techno production, was kind of a way for me to get away from (formal, classical musical) training," he recalls. "I had been headed down an open-minded, anything-goes path with a compositionally-geared approach, and ... all those paths led to techno." And for that, we're glad.

Inigo Kennedy has released upwards of 100 records since he started in 1996, cementing his esteemed aesthetic and revealing his digital mastery further with each release. This immense discography embraces both the traditional and the ambitious; prevalent fundamentals and established concepts meet discord, clashes in texture and supreme use of space. Kennedy's 2007 record Identify Yourself was Token's first release. Although Kennedy was well-established by this point, that inaugural step taken together, with Token as a newcomer, began the much-needed growth of the label in a period of time when techno music yearned painfully for a refresh. This was the beginning of a close relationship between artist and label that has remained fruitful through the 11 years of Token's existence. Kennedy is now long-recognized as an integral contributor to Token's output; the label is the indisputable natural home for his sixth album, and in turn he continues to play his part in advancing Token's evolving sound with this release. Strata expands conceptually on the idea of planetary layers alluded to in Magma/Mantle, released in February 2018. The album progresses through levels of ornate drama, opening with Clarion Call (Return to Nothing), a full-length refix of the celebrated introduction from Kennedy's 2015 release of the same name, showing off the best of his melodic manipulation and creativity in sound design. This delicate grace is cut through spectacularly by the jaggedness of the approaching textures of Trapezoid, while the elegant and icy beauty of Stillness Expanded is impacted by the noisy and epic Reminiscence, which grand and almost clerical in its resounding majesty. Shudder grounds the record in restrained grit and provides functionality, while the opening fanfare of Breaking Point advances yet another degree of energy. The record's built-up intensity is broken at its conclusion by the sleepy, acid-tinged Oblivion - one that bumps along with a drowsy breakbeat and invites the mind to wander. With Strata, Kennedy proves once again that his reserves of passion, skill and potency are far from depleted; that there is yet more to be discovered in the depths of his imagination

Johnny L's classic gets the re-whisk from a solid set of UK bassheads... TIP!

At the tail-end of 2017, XL Recordings reissued Jonny L's seminal D&B album 'Sawtooth' on vinyl for the first time. A move that further cemented the record's game-changer status, DJ Mag hailed the record as being still the future', while Resident Advisor said 20 years later, Sawtooth still sounds like an outlier.'

So after showcasing this 20-year-old classic, XL Recordings are today releasing a 12' containing remixes of the most iconic track from the LP, 'Piper'. With efforts from Peverelist, Overmono, Powell and Zomby, these remixes go some way towards showing the influence Jonny L's music still has on a wide range of contemporary electronic artists.

I was 18 when 'Piper' came out. It was a time when drum and bass was evolving rapidly and tunes like 'Piper' were at the vanguard of that change. I remember there was red and green 10" versions of the single, the red one had the Grooverider mix on, a subtle reworking of the original. I could never figure out which I preferred. My remix is influenced by both, stark, mechanical, robotic and futuristic but rolling with a deep groove, hopefully I've retained that.

Overmono
There's so much gold on the XL back catalogue, but some of it shines more brightly than the rest. 'Piper' is one of those tracks that has genuinely stood the test of time - an understated classic.

Powell
I'll never forget the snap of that snare in the club and Piper's kind of rigid, uptight sense of funk. It was a huge tune for me. I was hooked on that whole stripped, ice cold, tech-steppin' sound — neurofunk as Simon Reynolds once called it. I wanted to explore that feeling of sleek, skeletal coldness in my remix. Berlin based Mannequin Records pushes out some proper Industrial/EBM bangers. Raised in Pescara on the Adriatic Coast and ow based in Frankfurt am Main Antonio Barbetta is debuting on Death of the Machines as Raw Ambassador.
The heavy four track ep is created to burn every dancefloor with full Industrial vibes and a lot of EBM influences, giving us a small insight into his violent and rough sound. Devotion - Part 3 is the final stage of the journey into the author's sonic environment. Following the industrial acid and rave spirited rocket "Rack rash" launched by Phara & Border One, Memorial Home drives the space shift to trigger with "About Her" our neuronal and emotional crazytivity with a subliminal dogged rhythm driven theme which combines frantic and syncopated beats with highly suggestive atmospheric sound waves. If "Another Wasted Night" by Manent slows down the pace, it is to provide a sublime artistic statement of intense cinematic and contemplative techno moods. This is just to announce the gem provided by Kas:st merging hypnotic layers of UFO-like sounds with an awesome melodic main theme rocking or soothing our souls such as in a Kubrickian travel to the outer space. Closing the journey or rather opening our mind towards infinite and undefined horizons, "Eternal" by VII Circle is another demonstration of these talented producers' ability to craft highly emotional tunes, this time by merging industrial techno groove with haunting trippy trance synth textures.

Andre Crom is back with what are likely to be the biggest club trax of his career so far.

'Circuit' and 'Breaker' are peaktime techno tools with overdriven drums, relentlessly functional arrangements, and a massive dancefloor potential.

'Circuit' builds with a strong bass fundament consisting of a woofer-shattering kick and a syncopated low-tom-bassline, adding interchanging percussion patterns and the name-giving vocal, before resolving into siren-style synth sweeps which build into the break.

'Breaker' relies on a similar mainroom techno drum pattern, but replaces the vocal and synth for an energetic acid bassline, sure to fuel every dancefloor with a rush of energy, and reminiscing of 90ies-techno.

Having tamed last year's havoc and disparity into the damaged rapture of 'Layers of Reality,' Anthony Linell is opening a new calendar with the sheared isolation of his latest album, 'A Sense of Order.' Linell has put his toolkit for summoning euphoria aside here, instead sculpting a glowing, diaphanous fog that swells into pensive melodies and arpeggiated whispers. Graceful for the way in which it makes the bleak hospitable, the charm of coldness invites us toward the empty and the beautiful, and away from the miserable.

year after their debut on the label, Crossing Avenue return with five more sublime techno tracks on Spazio Disponibile. That first EP remains the only outing for the pair of Andrea La Bombarda and Andrea Montrone, and this new one is another experimental trip into mind melting grooves. Opener 'Laguna' is a loopy, liquid track of fluttering drums and rubbery kicks that never lets up. Now seven years deep into the label's innovative techno trip, Etruria has made nurturing exciting new Italian talent one of its key signatures. Bastinov, Dast, Reform, Kaiser, Diego Amura and Toms Due are just some of the progressive creators Etruria have supported over the last two years alone. Collaborating with producers Cassy holds in high regard is the modus operandi of her newly launched label, Kwench Records. Powered by the finesse of US veteran Pete Moss, the fourth EP dips the imprint into a slicker, more sensual side to house music. And adding fire to the flame is the legendary Ron Trent, who completes the release with a scorching ten-minute remix.

Cassy launched Kwench Records with a burning appetite to create house music with esteemed producers whose careers could be defined by their eagerness to experiment. With her championing Moss's and Trent's productions for years, she approached the fourth release confident that their collaborative material would be dynamite.

Two of dance music's hottest producers coalesce on the latest Hot Creations release. Frank Storm and Matteo Spedicati bring us Gimme Tha Honey, a throbbing three-track EP that gifts us with a rework from Robsoul label boss Phil Weeks.

Frank Storm reveals "this is our first collaboration which was born a year ago in our studio in Barcelona. We share the same passion for our own definition of the ghetto sound, blending fresh and techy vibes.' With this inspiration they weave an almost menacing vocal into the pulsating bassline of lead track Gimme Tha Honey. The Phil Weeks remix brings a slither of light with a shower of synths and warm, bubbling bass. The EP closes with The Long Wait shaking the record into heavier terrain, as the industrial keys are underpinned by a flurry of tough drums.

Frank Storm has been a key player on the White Isle having played at some of the Island's biggest clubs; Space, Sankey's, Pacha, Ministry of Sound and Zoo Project, as well holding down a residency at the night Unusual Suspects. Matteo Spedicati began releasing music in 2006 and has received support from Ricardo Villalobos and Richie Hawtin. Since then he's gone on to work with such high profile names as Joseph Capriati and Mendo, as well as releasing records on an abundance of top labels.

Making his debut on the label, Spanish producer Kuo Climax is welcomed to the Hot Creations fold. A solid two track release that has already been heating up dancefloors across the globe, the talented artist showcases his distinct style and proves why he is hotly tipped for 2018.

The EP opens up with Whyte, a pulsating track with a warped bassline and oozing synths. Two and a half minutes deep it disperses into a breakbeat-esque breakdown that dives back into the familiar 4/4 beat. Title track Nacrem is a smooth roller with an underpinning bass and intergalactic vocal stabs. The EP highlights the Spanish producer's ability to bring balance to his output, providing music perfectly attuned for the floor.

Born in Malaga and now residing in Barcelona, Kuo Climax has released on respected labels such as Knee Deep In Sound, Solid Grooves and VIVa MUSiC. 2018 will see the producer launch his own vinyl-only imprint, LFOFL, that aims to recognise the progress in technology without losing the essence of true dance music.

After a two year hiatus Graded is back with label founder Midland at the controls and its been worth the wait. Graded003 picks up where Midland's 2013 Drumtrak left off, left of centre club music for warehouses and basements alike. The A-side 'Blush' first aired during a particularly warm Boiler Room recording in Milan last summer. It turned heads on the night and has garnered endless ID requests on the recording ever since. Stuttering rolling percussion and a synth line as bold as it is unusual make this one a very strong club tool. On the B-side 'Outpost' and 'Holdup' take a deeper turn, rich in suspense and expertly programmed drums, they're unmistakably Midland productions drawn from the more obscure corners of his sound pallet.

Uncanny Valley EP sonically explores the uneasy, obscure but familiar relationships between human and machine in contemporary life. This is the debut release on RESIST, the record label launched by experimental club/art hybrid event from Belfast, Northern Ireland. This debut release is by RESIST event and label founder, Koichi. Remix comes from electronic music innovator and Eotrax label owner, Eomac in an anxiety driven, frenzied remix of the title track.

Jagged and angular sonics, and warm organic artefacts are the defining sound of this release, which imitates the theme behind the music. Machines are being engineered to have a place in intimate and personal areas of human life. What does it mean to be human in this increasingly digital world Are we anything more than complicated robots made of flesh Where does humanity stop and the uncanny begin

Koichi returns with a new sound, signalling a departure away from his previous aesthetic and into a new direction breaking free from the boundaries and categories of restrictive genre definitions. His music continues to contain a heavy techno aspect, and also draws on raw industrial and experimental influences.

Koichi is an electronic musician, music researcher, and event curator who explores resisting exclusionary identities and disrupting discourses of power and prejudice through music and live digital art.

Delsin's reissue arm once again looks to the revered back catalogue of Lost Trax for a second 12" that picks out the best of the anonymous collective's work. The EP features five cuts taken from two highly sought after EPs released on Tabernacle Records in 2011 and 2012. 'The Eye' opens things up with punchy drum programming and the sort of sci-fi effects and synths that immediately take you to a future intergalactic world. It's a weighty but emotional opener, while 'Pulp' is more twisted and urgent, with warped synth sounds and busy, bristling drums and perc all building pressure throughout. 'The Forest' resets the mood with mystic synths and mysterious atmospheres that mix ambient beauty with suggestive skeletal beats. 'B01' then canes through the cosmos on a Detroit electro tip with slithers of synth, swollen pads and crisp hits and 'Dominion' rounds things out in hurried fashion. The restless electro drums pound away as prickly snares and cymbals, blurts of machine noise and sweeping pads all wrestle for attention and keep you on your toes. This is high octane electro and techno designed with metallic precision but oozing plenty of human feelings.

Sanskrit scriptures mention the term vimana as flying vehicles or temples. Consequently, the sound of this ancient UFO has been captured into the grooves of this vinyl record. The soundscapes of Rukma Vimana dig deep into the dirty history of raw and hypnotic industrial techno. Nobody said that spiritual journeys are a clean endeavour. A1 marches forward into the dark lands of dirty drums and urges you to follow it, as it's your duty to dance hard in this life. Flip the vinyl and the needle will tickle your subconsciousness. Excavating deep tantalizing melodies and dusty basslines, one should not get lost in the palace of this unknown god. Closing with a meditative sketch, B2 leaves us puzzled about the vortex of energy we've just been through.
