Cocytus, meaning "the river of wailing , is a river in the underworld in Greek mythology. It flows into the river Acheron, across which is the underworld, the mythological abode of the dead. Dante describes Cocytus in Inferno as being the home of traitors and those who committed acts of complex fraud. The river of wailing is divided into four arms:

Antenora, after Antenor from the Iliad, traitors to country.
Judecca, after Judas Iscariot, traitors to masters and benefactors.
Caina, after the Biblical Cain, traitors to blood relatives.
Ptolomea, after Ptolemy, governor of Jericho, who murdered his guests (1 Maccabees), traitors to guests.

Based on these assumptions COT labelhead HOURS crafted three pensive tracks, one of which was reinterpreted by Brian Sanhaji.

As one half of Simian Mobile Disco, Jas Shaw has been co-creator of a remarkable string of varied albums, from their debut, Attack Decay Sustain Release, through their vocal lead more pop leanings on Temporary Pleasure, uncompromising techno on Delicacies, and prog synth wig outs on Whorl.

Now, given a bit of free time while his musical other half, James Ford, has been off producing for other bands, Jas has been busy crafting a whole slew of new material, the first fruits of which see the light of day on this brand new release on the duo's own Delicacies label.

Stylistically closest to SMD's Unpattern's era, the EP kicks of with the title track 'Love Doubled'. Full of skittering percussion clamped to propulsive backbone of a kick, the shimmering and clanking melodies and booming bass has nods to likes of Pantha Du Prince and Roman Fluegel.

On the B side, 'It's Not The Clock That Tells The Time' nervous little patterns of stabs ease their way into the listeners consciousness before being joined at the halfway point by another low end bass riff. 'To Mock A Killing Bird' takes a slightly more sedate route, more suited to early morning comedowns than dancefloors, with a shimmering ambient opening, reminiscent of the deeper Whorl cuts, before crunchy drum loops emerge to build structure.

Creme Organization turn to the mysterious IVVVO and Lisbon producer Lake Haze for a new single that comes backed with a remix from label regular Legowelt. The single '#1' is a hard hitting but fuzzy, misty and hugely spacious house track with deep jacking drums, haunting synths spiralling all around and freaky voices buried deep within. Hugely atmospheric and lovably imperfect, it then gets remixed by Legowelt. His version of the track flips it on its head, strips back some of the white noise fuzz and reimagines it as a driving techno cut with impish chords, retro arps and high pressure stabs. It's a peak time bomb and ensures that this release is a high impact one indeed.

Following on from the the likes of the excellent Son.sine re-issue, Delsin kicks off 2015 with another one in the form of Micronism's Steps to Recovery EP. Originally released on Nurture records in 1999, the EP, which comes in black and limited coloured vinyl, is a bonafide deep house classic from the short live career of New Zealander Denver McCarthy. 'Engaging Causelss Mercy' is a contemplative, atmospheric affair with soft drums and celestial pads that could roll and roll forever and you'd never get tired. 'The Quiet Mind' is just as deep, but the spiralling pads and rippling melodies here are more colourful and charming. Both tracks are hugely spacious, luxurious affairs whilst 'Constructing Space' on the flip is a more stripped back and humid number that is more enclosed and oppressive for cosy back room spaces. Finally, the title track is a playful, elastic house track with heartwarming hooks and pinging drums. This tasteful EP shines a light on some definitively deep tracks that really do deserve the attention that will now inevitably come their way.

Q3A is a new alias of Route 8, a producer who has credits on labels like Lobster Theremin and Nous as well as Black Venison. Now the producer serves up a sumptuous four track EP, Space Chamber, on the Delsin label and it touches on many different styles with equally great results. 'Lost Souls' is first and is an expansive bit of well driven deep house with rich synths and cavernous innards that really suck you in. Next up is another serenely crafted bit of atmospheric house with dusty drums and lose hits all backed with heavenly pads and retro bass. The first of the b-side tracks is a chunky acid kicker with angelic vocals drifting up top as a controlled 303 line rips up the foreground. Spaced out and deep, driving yet emotive, it is a moving bit of club music before the B2 trips you out on a silvery electro tip with its icy lines and slap-funk snares. Overall, this is an expansive and perfectly formed EP and comes with a sleeve by Boris Tellegen.

For his first release on Common Dreams, Reedale Rise (Simon Keat) brings us two thoughtful tracks, both well-layered and very well produced. The A side "Pressure Box" is the more funkier, 'deep house' leaning tune, giving us juicy chords, a starry pad, and some very nice atmospheres in between. All the while, drums are pushing you forward, and in some parts just reach out and slap you in the face. The B side "Azikiwe" fuses sporadic arpeggiations with some very thoughtful chord melodies. Maybe it could be described as having a more psychedelic twist. But just when you get too far out, you're brought right back to the rhythm tracks wich are nothing short of solid, making for a good all around dance track.

It's now almost two years since German producer Sawlin made his debut on Ann Aimee, but now he is back for a third EP on the Delsin sister label. Entitled 'Niedertracht', it features four more tracks of searing techno in truly uncompromising Sawlin style.

'Kontraktion' goes first with heavy metallic hits, lots of industrial machinery found sounds and thumping kick drums. It's lumpy, mechanical and stiff stuff that is slow and purposeful. The surface of 'Padjam' is then covered in squirming, scratchy little effects as syncopated drums swing deep down below. Eventually the thing gets fleshed out with some malfunctioning melodies and slurred vocal stabs yet still it sounds like no other techno out there.

'Niedertracht' takes up the b1 with a spangled techno track that has gurgling synths and fizzing drills all encased in a ravey arrangement of horns and windy howls. The broken sounding 'Weißhaupt' is made up of metal loops, punctured drums and rasping synths that sound like factories in melt down. This is truly inventive electronic music that's laced with a very real and unmistakable sense of industrialism, and proves Sawlin is one of the day's most exciting producers.

For the tenth instalment of Deep Sound Channel the label is going full circle, back to where it all began. ARC# inaugurated the imprint back in 2013 and now part of the collective, Tom Liem, is flying solo. Well, solo for the opening track. "A Liquid State" is a mellow, melting piece of marshy machine music. Warmth flows as clicks and clacks orbit a soft and soothing syntheline in a track that epitomises the term ambient techno. Acronym, of Northern Electronics and Semantica fame, takes over the controls for the flip. Percussion is folded and refolded, layered into itself into a hypnotic haze. Behind these blurred beats a burbling bass bulges as gentle key strokes scatter for a remix brimming with textures and intensity. Limited to 250 coloured copies.

Units and Measurements is the collaborative project of Christopher Hreno, Mathew Jonson and Colin de la Plante. The project sees these long times friends and veteran producers exploring the limits of hardware based improvisation and deep synthesis and effects programing . Documenting a single epic 24 hour session at Jonson's mothership studio in Berlin, this first release sees the trio exploring some of the headiest ambient and tunneling hypnotic techno to be found in any of their admittedly vast individual back catalogs. This release is without question a portrait of 3 masters of their craft at work, and quite unlike anything else you are likely to hear this year.

Hard, deep mental, hypnotic Techno from the mysterious Cadency.
This is Cadency's second GKNSTR release after his successful "Falling" Ep from 2015.

The third release in this series opens up with Fanon Flower's remix of 'Be Good To Me' on the A-side, and has everything we love about Fanon's signature sound - an industrial rave-stomper that provides a heavy 909 beat topped with mercilessly propelling Chicago-style claps. The B-side kicks off with Henning Baer's remix of 'Visco Space Saves The World' - a super trippy and minimal interpretation of the much more heavy original, which was a raw and gloomy industrial monster with a bold noize overload. Its progression changes build up neatly but peak in an epic spiral break down that shatters the soul. B2 is a remastered version of 'Herz aus Stahl' by the mastermind Christian Morgenstern himself, presenting an upfront, sinister Electrofunk monster that attacks with waves of synth menace straight from its metallic robocop-heart.

Two long sides of doomed out distorted techno. Full improv on the machines with vocals and a shitload of attitude. Fallbeil have been making serious waves lately and we are happy they are back at NYH with some of their heaviest jams to date.

The novel but solid Kristina opens side B1 with his tool "Hydragea", where again, based dub elements, manages to build a disciplined rhythmic atmosphere , at the same time delicate, and that will delight lovers techno more fluctuating.

In the side B2 kristina it attack with "Dicentra" .A extremely funk track with multiple hi hats variants, and where the first minute of listening past, one enters a deep cerebral hypnotism .Dicentra is without any doubt one of the highlights of the record, where Kristina synthesized based revers again and again succulent and repetitive sounds, which make the reference number 18 Analog Solutions certainly Essential to find a place in the case of any dj.

Saved's latest offering comes from label favourite Philip Bader who delivers his original and creative sounds with "Getting Lost". Built upon flowing percussion and filled with an addictive baseline and intelligently processed vocals, the record is a real hit and accessible to DJ's across the spectrum.

Over on the flip is a remix of 2011's, "Amir Loves you". The track receives the remix
treatment from label boss Nic Fanciulli and his friend Davide Squillace. The remix has been bubbling under for a while now since featuring on Nic's Balance compilation and is now available for all.

Andy Kolwes - U Can Ep. - Pressure Traxx Silver Series

UK wave funk veteran DMX Krew returns to Abstract Forms with his latest double album project. Escape-MCP features 13 tracks of synth drenched electro and elastic techno grooves drawing inspiration from a 1983 computer game where the player is trapped inside a computer by a rogue processor. Fortunately DMX Krew isn't trapped inside a computer and is still with us making killer grooves. Don't sleep!

Following recent singles 'Clusters (Remixes)', 'Continuum' and 'Parallax' Dronelock & Ontal join forces for the collaboration's biggest release to date - 'The Topics'.

Dronelock and Ontal's joint label venture Shadow Story is a base for the dark, industrial exploration of sound that all four corners of the British/Serbian double duo employ as their modus operandi.

2013 saw a trio of EPs from Bradford residents, Dronelock (aka Martin Cartledge and Alexander Church) on the revitalised Weekend World label, which gathered support from the likes of Surgeon, Lucy (Stroboscopic Artefacts), Lakker, Inigo Kennedy, Pearson Sound, Adam Beyer, Marcel Dettmann, Detroit Grand Pubahs and many more. As one might expect, techno provides the perfect sanctuary for their production ideas to manifest: ambient, ethereal soundscapes meeting sustained clusters of tones.

Last year saw Dronelock start the label, Shadow Story, a joint venture between themselves and Serbian duo Ontal (Boris Noiz and Darko Dekode). Forming an industrial techno/rhythmic noise project, Ontal (based in Subotica, Serbia) can be described as an uncompromising, hard and intense assault.

'The Topics' is a distillation of ideas captured and expressed by the foursome through the industrial and synthesized, the organic and the abstract. The tracks are produced primarily on analogue hardware with the sole intention to perform them live. This process allows freedom to experiment with the base level interaction between sound and music. As they say it's music which is about as far away from music as you can get before it stops being music!' music as you can get before it stops being music!'

The third vinyl release from Evod Music is a collection of 4 tracks by various artists, that expresses all music ideas of the label. Thanks to YYYY solidity, Svarog experimentation, Syntaxism mysticism and Evod known intensity, this release confirms that the label can touch all the shades of techno music, but always keeping his defined sonority.

Perc Trax unleashes the first of three vinyl EPs showcasing the new tracks from the label's tenth anniversary 'Slowly Exploding' compilation, mixing up label regulars with established names making their Perc Trax debuts. Forward Strategy Group begin proceedings with the grinding broken beat rhythm of 'Dragons Tooth' before Happa opens his Perc Trax account with a percussive assault that is amongst the most aggressive tracks on these three EPs. Martyn Hare, another Perc Trax debutant, delivers the Awakenings festival slaying 'The New Normal' to kick off the B-side and US producers Mick Finesse and Pinion team up for the first time on the B2 with the industrial Amen groover that is 'Dead Boyfriend Alley'...

A very special release for Wicked Bass this time, coming from a personal favourite: Antonio Marini aka Healing Force Project. Kicking things off, 'Kinetic Drawing' takes you on an anxiety-inducing journey via smokey jazz ambiences and elastic dub pools whilst Swedish producer Porn Sword Tobacco takes care of the flip with a dazzling edit of latin-house infused rhythms and tropical scapes. An ode to Summer's warmth and love. 100% pleasure!

Desolat, 2020 Vision, Tsuba and Mobilee's contributor, Hector comes back  on NYC - based Serkal imprint with another on point 2 trackers, backed up with an Hansel's remix. 

After releasing the likes of Clio, Manna From Sky, Relock just to name a few Serkal drops Hector's second EP on the label. "...EP' includes 2 stunning club oriented tracks. He merges soulful House grooves with Techno atmospheres, driving wobbly bass-lines with rolling 4/4 percussion patterns and hypnotic industrial melodies with distorted sampled vocals. 'Mycloud' showcases the producer's aesthetic taste for powerful analogue sub lines and never-tiring loops, like being lost in a mystical fractal. 'Phil's Theme' merges Tech House relentless grooves with a dark / late night vibe, driven by a owwling synth and subtle pad sounds. The EP is backed up with Romania's prodigy Hansel: his broken Techno version of 'Mycloud' sends the dance floor into a futuristic dimension.

THEM is a record label and event series headquartered in London born from VHS Nasties, Pirate Radio, Raves, and varied underground electronic music and here they present THEM001 'The Run'.The release's two lead tracks were made in Hokkaido, Japan using hardware by producer Hiroaki Iizuka, a flagship member of the THEM production crew, who shares the label's love for Detroit techno, nineties ghetto house, soundtracks, dark atmospheres and horror.Side A features two tracks: The first is the title track 'The Run' an original offering by Hiroaki Iizuka. The key to this track being so hard and blunt is the stark repetitive nature of its hook - a mantra which anchors down its harder four to the floor style. Aptly named, 'The Run' kicks off this sound with no messing and as the track progresses the hook is constantly re-contextualized by the changing dynamics of Iizuka's style.
Side A also features a remix of 'The Run' from Pennyroyal's J.Tijn who reworks the nuts and bolts of the title track into a driving, raw techno tool. Here he showcases the uncompromisingly dirty and yet carefully balanced production which is gaining him recognition.The B-side is dedicated to a single track: 'Dot' is a six minute plus exploration of a deeper side to Iizuka's sound. Occupying the space in both dancefloor tools and journeying home listening; 'Dot', like the 'The Run' is a meditation on a central hook but unlike 'The Run', 'Dot' pushes that hook to the limits of its dynamic possibility through constant demolishing and rebuilding of track elements and energy.

Sacramental are Dave Lievense (one half of Psycatron) and Billy Nasty, who first met at the Brighton Music conference through mutual friend, Phil Kieran. They were already aware and respectful of each other's work but had never met face to face. As Dave Lievense says: "I was well aware of Mr Nasty's work through his (Radio 1) Essential Mix, way back in '93/'94... I think it was one of the first shows and I was a religious listener at that point." Several pints later, the pair had bonded and soon hatched a plan to record together. "We decided to pull resources and reinvent the wheel!", continues Dave.

A 3-day/night recording session in Belfast followed, culminating in these tracks that now form their debut 'Bad Blood EP'. "The tracks are influenced by early rave, techno and hardcore classics", says Billy Nasty, "they're looking at the past through the lens of the future."

The EP's title track, 'Bad Blood' is driving techno that packs a serious punch from the onset, followed by the deeper 'Entheogen' with its opening like a ticking bomb. 'Angels Trumpet' is next and it doesn't hold back the bass, before the wobbling 'Morning Glory' closes the vinyl version. The 'Entheogen Vox Mix' with its snappy vocal cut up will be available as a bonus track on the digital release

The pair are already planning their next session, so it looks like there'll be a lot more to come from Sacramental...

Compilation of remastered tracks from the defunct Scorp label, operated from 2000 to 2004 by Steve Rachmad. Includes one unreleased track from the same period.

Steve Rachmad's extensive collection of projects over the years has provided a wealth of inspiration in its many forms. Although much of Rachmad's music has been influential on the development of Token from the beginning, there is one body of work in particular that encapsulates the essence of the label, in a classic and inimitable form.

Scorp was a self-contained label project operating between 2000 and 2004. Although not the best known of Rachmad's many aliases, its importance was not overlooked by discerning tastemakers at the forefront of the techno movement at the time.

Token 66 contains nine tracks in total selected from these releases, plus one track previously unreleased from the same period. All of the music has been remastered and will be available digitally for the first time as well as on a 3LP vinyl compilation.

These ten tracks clearly demonstrate Token's alignment with this classic sound, exhibiting Rachmad's mathematical precision in employing bare-bones percussion to captivate, doing away with the formality of a lengthy introduction and urging a hypnotic state with immediate effect.

All it takes to distinguish a deep house release from all the others these days is the people involved behind it. In this case, And.id who has proven to be as comfortable as making techno for Mobilee, VIVa music and 2020vision, as he is to produce elaborate jazz arrangements, covering electronic music songs with his jazz trio, is the man behind the first two original tracks for the Taverna Tracks imprint. The EP kick starts with 'My People' and in complete New York fashion, with strings, bassline and vocal stabs that could have jumped straight out of a Jovonn production. The next track, 'Face Off", is a more obscure basement techno affair, for the late night afterhours and for those who like to zone and lose themselves in the trippy stabs and tension building strings. The first Taverna Tracks EP rounds up beautifully with a superbly produced Alix Alvarez Remix, which makes use of the original hooks but elevates the whole song with his unique production skills and sublime sense for arrangement. Double 12" on PRSPCT Recordings from Limewax

Mono Junk's DUM Records has been dictating trends in the world of minimalistic techno since the 1990s, and its 34th release is as special as any. This one comes from label boss Kimmo Rapatti aka Mono Junk vs Mesak, who is better known as fellow Finn, Tatu Metsätähti, aka one half of Mr Velcto Fastener and someone who has released on Dexter & Steffi's Klakson. Together the pair serve up three mixes of their jam and an additional track.
Title track 'Deep In My Mind' is a paranoid techno cut with freaky vocal riffs repeating the title as gurgling synth lines and sleek drums rumble below. Twitchy synths and high pressure perc add to the hypnotic effect, and overall it's easy to see this one making for some perfectly weird dance floor moments. The mix by Mono Junk is completely the opposite: in his hands it is a beat-less, serene and beautifully styled electro cut that takes you deep into brain soothing space. The 'Electro Mind' version is then a full on electro jam, with plenty of aqueous synths and fluid lines all squiggling along in classic Detroit style. Final track 'SYSdrum' is back to the raw, with angsty drum lines, crisp and slapping snares and oodles of reverb all making for a brain frying trip.

Keith Tuckers Optic nerve persona returns with the Timelapse ep. Side a1 Minimal Detroit mix is a dark minimal Mood beat pumped excursion into techno floor stumper. A2 Time Displacement mix is a completely different Take with alternative beats creating a sort of shift in time. The tracks show Tuckers growth and influence on Electro and techno with his work in Aux 88.
Side two One moment in time is a Detroit sort of metroplex gem . Tucker once again shows his melodic Melodies and baselines that shows his love for Detroit music and grooves. A highly thought out sequence of great sounds and string chords as only Optic nerve does it. Tucker has hinted many times that he has a lot of Unreleased music from his metroplex days!

Hessle Audio present the debut full-length album from label co-founder Kevin McAuley, aka Pangaea. In Drum Play's ten tracks cut deep into stripped-back techno structures, yet remain infused with the ravey intensity and rogue experimentalism that has placed his work among both the strangest and most banging dance music to emerge from the UK in the last decade.

Since his debut 12" in 2007, Pangaea's music has existed in a continual state of metamorphosis. From the ghostly flex of his early singles into the rhythmic vortices of his self-released Hadal EPs, and now the mesmerising dance of In Drum Play, it's evolved into a freewheeling strain of ruffneck techno - one ear jacked into sound system culture, the other in the stomping nocturnal psychedelia of UK pioneers such as Surgeon. His DJ sets have developed in parallel, becoming fast-paced acrobatic voyages at the interface of loopy techno and more exploratory UK styles, an aesthetic captured on his 2014 mix for the Fabriclive CD series.

As its title suggests, In Drum Play is a product of that feedback loop between the studio and the club. The devilishly funky intensity of tracks like 'Rotor Soap', 'More Is More To Burn' and 'DNS' emerged froma desire to write music that mirrored the late night dancefloor environments that McAuley has been DJing within. Crafted around sharpened motifs that burrow simultaneously into mind and body, they rank among his headiest and most forceful music to date.

Yet these tracks remain alive with the subtle diversions and shifts in mood that have always made his music so distinctive. The snakelocked metal drums and glowing melodies of 'Skips Desk', 'Bulb In Zinc' and 'One By One' are pure volatile energy, their bubbling percussive momentum building on killer earlier Pangaea cuts like 'Hex' and 'Viaduct'. Elsewhere, the record drifts off into increasingly dream-like zones, 'Lofty Can' and the pirouetting flute melodies of highlight 'Send It In' slow the tempo to a simmering steppers' groove, creating beautifully tangled musical puzzle boxes that, as with the blissed-out ambience of 'Scaled Wing', equally recall the roaming sensibilities of Amber-era Autechre and contemporaries like Lee Gamble. Just as intrinsic to Pangaea's aesthetic as his body-shock dancefloor tracks, these form the vital connective tissue of a record that's focused and immediate, yet just as compositionally subtle as ever: a fitting debut album from a producer and DJ who has now been releasing unpredictable and exploratory dance music for almost a decade.

These tracks were recorded in autumn of 2016 in Brendon's
home studio that is conveniently located in the basement of his home in upstate New York.
The tracks were made using a combination of Hardware and Software. The protocol, well, sync all machines via midi and CV and then jam. Once a jam seems to take on a form he multitrack record all elements in Ableton and then create a nal arrangement and mix down.

My first meeting with Keita Sano
A little over a year ago I spent a day off in the lovely seaside town Enoshima. There is a really nice club, cafe and concert venue there called Oppa-La which I had played the previous night. So my dear friend and japanese promoter Hagi tells me we should go back there the following night as there will be local bands playing followed by a live-set from Keita Sano. I was only vaguely familiar with his music but had noticed his name crop up more and more frequently so off we went.
a couple of beers later and around the third track in : somehow managing to merge the playfullness of disco with the physical impact of techno I'm sold there and then.

How much do you really know about Nina Kraviz She's a Russian techno DJ, an accomplished producer, one of dance music's breakthrough names of the last five years. True enough, but there's so much more to her story than that. She's one of electronic music's most interesting characters, someone who has stuck to her musical guns since day one, someone who has wide-ranging roots that run deep in the past, yet she's also the embodiment of the future. Her signature sound is a raw blend of house and techno with a very acidic feel. If that feels very now, Kraviz has a lot to do with it, which is why she was asked to mix the latest instalment of !K7's landmark 'DJ Kicks' series.

The result is up there with the best in the 'DJ Kicks' back catalogue. It's a sublimely crafted set, deep and trippy, like you've tuned into a mysterious pirate radio station in the dead of the night or stumbled across a stream from an illegal party. Fourteen of the 30 tracks are exclusives from Kraviz's òðèï label, including three of her own: 'Mystery', 'IMPRV' and 'Prozimokompleme'.

'People probably know me for my Dance Mania-inspired, stripped down jacking groove style of DJing but the idea behind this particular mix was to create more of a trippy underwater vibe. A mysterious, sonic journey, inspired by the times I used to listen to late night radio growing up and imagine that all the sounds brought to me via the radio waves came directly from space.'

Normal Bias are two good friends - Yac and 77 - who both went through punk rebellion, death metal fumes, the fall of the Berlin Wall, and even managed to settle down in life. Valere Aude, the debut album from Romans, a collaborative project between New York techno producer Gunnar Haslam and Vienna-based acid evangelist Johannes Auvinen (aka Tin Man). Featuring 12 tracks of hallucinogenic, psychedelic techno, Valere Aude is an acid-etched trip to the outer reaches of the mind.I just really like listening to albums. I think the popular notion of techno not lending itself to the album format is just a myth," says Haslam, a statement we can't help but agree with. Both Haslam and Auvinen are no strangers to the album format — Haslam has released three under his own name, and Tin Man has released no fewer than six. "The album format allows for more cohesive artistic statements than other formats — it feels like more of an achievement and delivers a filled-out narrative," explains Auvinen. That's a perfect summation of Valere Aude. Building on the blueprint they sketched with Ambulare Aude, their first 12" for The Bunker New York, Valere Aude presents a fleshed-out vision of another world where acid techno falls like rain upon a forgotten civilization. "The album connects to a fantastic fictional history in which we are imagining attitudes lost to the waters of time," Auvinen says. The track titles, in fact, allude to geographic designations in the greater Roman empire, adds Haslam.

Although both Haslam and Auvinen are fully established artists in their own right, Romans is more than a mere meeting of the minds. "We are discovering a third entity as Romans, within Romans, which is neither he (Haslam) nor I," explains Auvinen, cryptically. "Our decisions as producers become simpler as we get closer to discovering Romans' sound." Haslam concurs: "Our production process is pretty quick — our compositional style is similar. We give each jam all that we have, then, later, sort 'em out and let Providence decide whether it's any good."

The finished product is a steamy, moody record, experimenting with atmospheres, tempos, and sounds, designed for blistering hot days and cold, rainy nights. We couldn't be more excited to share it with you.

In Ancient Greek Mythology, Olympos was the living place of the Twelve Olympian Gods and has inspired our limited series record label under the same name. Olympos, will release a series of Eps , with the figure of an Olympian God, from various artists which will remain unannounced until the project is complete.
Kicking off the series is Hephaestus, the god of fire and metal. ''Dounai'' and ''Lavein'' is an Ancient Greek phrase meaning give and take. A-side features ''Lavein'' which is a broken beat, glitched up number, with a rather metallic timbre. Resonances, filters, drums and arpeggiators arranged and programmed in style, resulting in a modern electronic piece with plenty of quirky, edgy vibes.On the flip side ''Dounai'' is a melodious, esoteric and slow moving late night /after-hours affair, which expands slowly and steadily over a beautiful chord progression of lush strings and sparkling pads. For those who know Antigone and DEMENT3D's co-founder Francois X, it is impossible to draw the line between their collaboration and friendship. Three years ago, when the duo began exchanging tips on records, production techniques and gears, they had nothing particular in mind. This strategy, or lack thereof, revealed to be much more beneficial to both. One night of 2013, Francois X invites Antigone to DSCRD's studio — a creative bunker in Paris suburb that was DEMENT3D's inner circle headquarters at the time. This friendly, spontaneous session quickly turned into a creative workshop and by the end of the evening, The Hated SZ' was already there.

As you may imagine, projects spanning over such a long time can be risky. You get lost, but that's what the boys wanted. While slowly affirming their personal sound signature, they were crafting new textures, where their mutual sense of fine dance music and detailed production would hit a new freedom threshold. Francois X admitted to be under the spell of Aposuspita, an art performance and mystical character created by French artist Laura O'Rorke for which he created the soundtrack. The result is a double-EP, the soundtrack of a powerful rite de passage between reality and fiction. A carefully crafted dance music record that tells a story and alters your mind. Just like Aposuspita sucks the pain away from her tribe, Antigone & Francois X's We Move As One' offers a modern day catharsis to the listener.

After three years of work, what began as an innocent one night stand turned into one of Paris most exciting release for year 2016. One of the first collaboration between two rising figures of the scene depicted in Resident Advisor's 2012 Paris Real Scenes'. A record that embodies the spirit of community that has been fostering the Parisian crowd for over 3 years and that is now reaching a new level, both socially and artistically. The Parisian scene has grown from a sparkle to an organized community of like-minded people, so has the relationship between those two bad boys, and we are proud to crystallize this wild energy on wax.

Immersed in the early days of the 90s midwest rave scene, Bill Converse began DJing at a young age in Lansing, Michigan. Luminaries such as Claude Young, Traxx, and Twonz were key early influences. Since moving to Texas in 1998, he has experimented with analog techniques in varied studio bunkers. Early techno, noise, ambient, tape, and paranormal processing are all part of his uncanny sound palette. Warehouse Invocation' is Converse's debut 12 release, collecting material from a cassette release on Obsolete Future plus a new unreleased song. Three of the tracks, Warehouse Invocation', Senys Magick' and Consulted Acid', were recorded in Austin TX between 2012-2013 at home and direct to tape with no overdubs or multi-tracking. Riverbank' was also recorded at home in early 2014 in one take with a mic placed outside of the window to record the the sounds of the river late at night. Bill is informed by his surroundings, influenced by scenes of desolation in nature, the sea, the desert, and places of industry, like power stations, old factories, and warehouses. The songs on this EP length reveal a sublime influence from Detroit techno, early Chicago house, and Acid. The album was recorded and mixed by Bill at his home studio in Austin and mastered by Dave Alex. All songs were EQed for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. A custom-made jacket designed by Eloise Leigh features a mystical collage by Josua Dorje Ngodup with acid yellow hues on a deep blue-purple background. 'Galaxies Compared' is the debut album from Belgium's Dany Rodriguez. Having released a series of EPs for labels such as Kombination Research, MBR, Bush, MB Elektronics, Bulletdodge and Phobiq he now runs his own RMR label, where his techno and electronic sound has developed and flourished into this, his biggest project to date.

Recording for over a decade, Dany wanted to drop his debut album in the right place and at the right time. 'Galaxies Compared' therefore is the culmination of his many years craft learning via the perfect artist platform of his own label. It's a preview of Dany Rodriguez's musical path over the years through 10 magnificent tracks, showcasing his diverse electronic talent. From melodic heavenly delights to killer, speaker-shredding monsters, Dany takes us from mortal earth to the furthest galaxies and back.

Launching with the slowly building 'D'story', the track gradually mutates along bubbling synth lines and ethereal strings but constantly teases by holding back from the precipice. Instantly we find a producer in full control of his sound and brimming with confidence. 'Voyager' at last introduces a beat with swirling keyboard motifs creating a stringent, cosmic feel. Then we are taken back to the dark recesses of the universe as 'November' rolls around taut delicate strings and subtle pads before the shimmering stardust of 'Galaxies Compared' scatters light and warmth across our musical journey.

'Landscapes' carves a deeper furrow, bringing the beat gently back and forth over alien frequencies for ten minutes of spaced-out grooves whilst 'Elium' ups the tempo, albeit with a clipped beat and once again, restrained and subtle use of pads and hats. 'Labyrinth' is perhaps one of Dany's most perfectly realized tracks, sitting somewhere in the space-funk universe between early Axis era Hood and Mills whilst 'Pluton' rattles its sabre on the dancefloor with shaking percussion and a twisting acid-bassline that never overstays its welcome. The album wraps up with the tough minimal beats of 'Inside' before 'System R' guides us back through the cosmic drum pad vortex.

2014, has been a great start for More Than Less Records rising from Seoul, South Korea. Our past releases are well supported by international underground Techno DJs and media. Now we move into what the More Than Less sound is.

Datura Dilema brings his talent to our label, his complexity regarding abstract electronica translates in this EP. Variation of sound enhancements, elements coming and going from different distances imitating refraction of sound waves, mystical twisted high quality sounds that figure as bright spots. Supported from The Black Dog, Josh Wink, Claudio PRC, Paula Temple, Samuli Kemppi and many more.

Agraphobia by LA Synthesis is considered by many as one of the most beautifully crafted string-driven techno tracks of all time. Originally released in 1994 it has received somewhat of a legendary cult status. 21 years later it is now time to breathe new life into this essential track and make it available again for a new generation of electronic music enthusiasts.

Together with De:tuned, LA Synthesis handpicked some of their favourite producers to rework the original and the results are mind-boggling to say the least. First up is Plaid who step in and deliver a skittering remix that soaks up the original melodies and continually morphs as it progresses. Ian O'brien turns out a stunning Detroit flavoured remix with rich, warm synth sounds and sublime melodies that really enhance the ethereal feeling of the original version.

Terrace breaks down the track into a stomping 4/4 Detroit techno affair with extra synth layers and bleeps to create a more urgent feel. ADJ adds a subtle ambient intro before releasing the original framework with a solid underlying electro beat, only to switch it up again halfway. Carl Finlow transmogrifies the original into a moody darkroom electro piece with menacing textures. Think robots, lasers and acid bleeps. Serious electro for the dance floor.

Last but not least the original version of Agraphobia remastered by Matt Colton is also included in this package, and it's sounding better than ever. Agraphobia Relapse will be available as a 2x12inch 180 gr vinyl release as well as a digital release. The vinyl version comes with beautiful sleeve and label artwork by Abdul Haqq (Third Earth) making this a most-wanted collector's item.

Mark Fell writes: "This series of works on this cassette began in 2011 when I attended a workshop/residency programme led by the British sound artist, composer and performer Jan Hendrickse. During a workshop session I played a pattern generating system via headphones to a drummer, Patrik Jarlestam who played a single snare drum. The basic premise of the work was that the performer should follow the pattern as accurately as possible, and to see what happened at the moments when the pattern changed - i.e. to foreground the performers attempts to follow the pattern and their ability to cope with the subtle yet unusual changes.

The pattern itself consists of a single percussive sound. The timing of the sound is determined by a list of five values ranging from one to 11 that represent timing intervals. These values are stepped through one at a time and multiplied by a base value, typically 80 milliseconds, to give the following possible timing intervals: 80, 160, 240, 320, 400, 480, 560, 640, 720, 800 and 880 milliseconds. A typical pattern might consist of something like 240, 240, 480, 320 and 320 which makes a total loop length of 1.6 seconds. If a single value is changed, for example element one becomes 560, the overall loop length extends to 1.92 seconds.

Although the patterns are relatively simple, and as a listener one can assimilate their form quite easily, it can be quite difficult to play along to them especially at those moments of change. So the piece can be thought of as a kind of intervention into the musical training and embedded musical vocabularies that the performer brings to the work. The point of the piece is not a perfect recital, but the difficulties that the performer encounters and the musical moments that these difficulties produce.

Unfortunately I believe there is no recording of Jarlestam's first performance of this piece - "Focal Music #1". The piece was performed a second time by Okkyung Lee during her residency at Cafe Oto, London 2015. "Focal Music #3" was performed with Laura Cannell at Baltic 39 (Newcastle, 2015) for Broken Telephone, an event which formed part of Peter J. Evans' exhibition Across Islands, Divides. "Focal Music #4" was performed with Aby Vulliamy at The Leeds Library (Leeds, 2015) at Peter Gidal/Mark Fell: Film/Sound organised by Pavilion and curated by Will Rose. "Focal Music #5a" and "Focal Music #5b" were recorded with Sandro Mussida at Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie (Karlsruhe, 2016) in the Kubus studio. The piece, performed on piano, takes two forms: the first based upon a six note pitch set of which any two notes are played at the same time, the second is formed of 5 discreet layers each with a single note. These were played in isolation following the same guide pattern and then later overlaid to form a single pseudo chord." - Mark Fell, South Yorkshire, 4th May 2016

Out Electronic Recordings offers its first remix EP picking Gain Upwards from Orlando Voorn, as part of Black Diamond double LP, originally released on Out-ER itself in july 2014. Voorn is one of Europe's oldest and most prolific electronic music producer. Winning the Dutch DMC Championship in 1986 and being constantly into the scene since '90, Orlando has been profitably collaborating with the italian label heads Simone Gatto and Andrea Santoro for years, releasing Black Diamond on their own imprint and featuring together on different european ones. From the twelve gems Voorn created for Out Electronic Recordings, Gain Upwards is the one selected to be reinterpreted by Orlando's long-standing friend Juan Atkins, dutch heavyweight ROD, Ostgut-Ton magician Efdemin and Inkblots and Raw Waxes label owner Haiku. First side of the record is less about groove and more about edgy peak time moments. Juan Atkins strays from the original version in favour of propulsive percussions and an incisive bassline sorrounded by spacey bleeps. ROD delivers a rising, intense remake sampling just few original elements and adding a majestic kick plus clean, emphatic hats. Flipping on the second side, ethereal soundscapes and fluid key-structures become the main elements of the conclusive remixes. Efdemin's unique, dreamy sense of rhythm expresses as a peaceful stormer filled with graceful synth lines and a slamming bassline, drawing the air when pads make the break. Haiku starts slow, a blissful ambient introduces a Rastafarian vocal and a syncopated pulse, gradually adorned by bright claps and bells, closing another delightful EP marked by the italian hybrid dance music label.

Hotflush are proud to introduce an exciting young artist, PYUR, along with her singular debut LP Epoch Sinus. Despite her relative newness, PYUR meets the world with fully formed and unique signatures in both visual and sonic work, revealing a deep artistry that transcends medium.
Growing up in Munich, in and amongst the same fecund scene that spawned artists like the Zenker Brothers and Skee Mask, PYUR cut her teeth from a young age as a guitarist and singer before becoming spellbound by the electronic world's endless scope for sound design. Endowed with innately strong synaesthesia and reared in a shamanic household, she tells how music 'played the biggest role in my growth. It alone had the purpose to help me dissolve boundaries, discover the beauty of life's mechanisms, create freely. It talked. Soon I felt like the music was making me, not the other way round.'
Epoch Sinus is a seamless and heartfelt whole, a life-like being unto itself, describing the disintegration of barriers between the self and the all. Here PYUR offers an intimate and personal statement, combining knowledge of universal harmony with electronic music. She states: 'I'm mainly influenced by my inner visions and nature itself, yet also a lot from club culture, which is undoubtedly an important space of connection and freedom for so many people'. The record dances playfully between supposedly incompatible qualities: moments of brutality turn to softness, new life embraces decomposition, while explosive rhythmic and melodic structures are tempered with gentle and subtle percussion.
The album is accompanied by a video piece for each track, translating the sonic messages into a visual body. Her goal was to show as accurately as possible what she felt during the making process of Epoch Sinus, to put the music into context and make it more accessible for the public. Light, water, reflections and colors of nature all feature strongly in these distinctive visions.
'Music showed me that, in the sweet spot between nothingness and existence, one is empowered to fully understand energetic connections and able to initiate extraordinary transformations through all grids and layers of self. Especially now at this time music has the enormous potential and responsibility to become a transformative entity, providing truthfulness and support.'

The EIS HAUS crew fire out another track EP of deep Pyrenean techno and house

Jelly Beast Recordings presents their second VINYL ONLY VA. Again they accomplished to bring great artists together, with the best quality in underground minimalistic techno.

Dark Entries returns to the New Jersey basement studio of Smersh to unearth a 4-track selection from the 'Deep House Anthems' cassette. Smersh was the duo of Mike Mangino and Chris Shepard, who began making music together in 1978. They were uninterested in traditional notions of songwriting or live performance. Recording in a domestic setting necessitated the abandonment of live drums for rhythm machines, and the Smersh sound would gradually change with each new bit of gear they acquired. The Electro-Harmonic Rhythm 12 gave way to TR606, TB303, and SH-09. Most Monday nights, they would write a new song from scratch. A couple hours later, the song was recorded, never to be performed again. By 1988, they had already put out at least 16 different tapes on their own Atlas King imprint. They would be followed by as many more. Some of those (subsequent) tapes there were less than 10 copies that got made because nobody wanted them. They couldn't get reviewed,' says Mike Mangino. As these tapes traded their way across continents, Smersh developed a devoted following in places far beyond Piscataway, leading to releases on dozens of other labels from around the globe. Smersh's sound is a lush hybrid of techno, industrial, dance, and experimental. Most songs revolve around driving EBM style beats, intricate industrial noise manipulation and synth melodies. For 'Selected Deep House Anthems' we selected 4 tracks of pulsating acid techno, which were recorded live, direct to DAT. All songs were originally recorded and released in 1991, and this the first time all but one of these songs are appearing on vinyl.
