Vinyl LP (incl. DL-Code) from an artist in their seventies, you probably wouldn't expect to hear an album like this.
But Brazilian drumming legend Ivan 'Mamão' Conti has been experimenting and innovating for the last half a century.
Take a bite of Mamão's psychoactive Papaya and join the maestro on a weird and wonderful stroll through the Brazilian jungle.

Platform 23 returns with the reissue of songs from Canadian project, Vini Vidi Vici. With just one privately pressed mini-album in 1989 that bridged the gap between the later years of New Wave and the early vestiges of House, the music included in this edited EP highlights a thriving Montreal scene in its heyday.

Vini Vidi Vici was created out of two different music backgrounds. Paul Klopstock was a classical pianist, while Mario Langlois was a DJ, self-taught musician and radio producer, who came together when both worked at the underground arts / club Le Lezard. Starting in 1986 the space mixed painting, drag shows and bands alongside the latest alternative sounds, from Rap to New Beat, Electro to Acid Jazz.

As House and Techno started to filter through, Mario (aka Ave Mario) and the other resident DJs laid the ground of what was to come. From this Paul and Mario collaborated from late 1987 through in to 1988 and created the mini-album, however this EP concentrates on the duo's self penned work.

Recorded at Oliver Sudden Production studio, the A side is made up the raw House of 'Club Stuff" and Native American meets avant percussion of 'Vini Vidi Vici'. Showing a confidence and experimentation beyond their years, the two tracks production and all round hypnotic danceability, highlight why original copies are so prized (and expensive).

The B side follows with two tracks recorded in Mario's home closet studio. Lo-fi to the max and improvised, the no wave / world beat experience of title cut, 'Ou Sommes Nous' and the proto-electro-wave of 'AA HHH' are like something again, a mesmerising fusion and quite unique.

Self pressed, the project ventured to live performance and (sadly unreleased) remix work, before the partners went their separate ways, however this archival document can be seen as their own special conquest.

We could wax lyrical for days about the music of Ewan Jansen but we’ll leave that for the blog sites and Reddit message boards whose pages his name regularly graces. The Australian producer responsible for seminal 90’s label Red Ember could be seen as an unwitting progenitor of the now well established and flourishing Australian House music scene and his vinyl releases have become highly sought after and frequently exchange hands for triple figures. Appearances on other legendary labels such as Mike Grant’s Moods & Grooves (who released Ewan’s Blueline Summer LP in 2005) and Chez Damier’s Inner Balance. In 2016 Ewan brought Red Ember out of hiatus releasing some solo material that sounded fresher than ever, continuing to push his raw yet musical, authentic house sound. Cut to the start of this year and Jimpster is flicking through Instagram when he stumbles upon a short clip of some work in progress on Ewan’s
profile. Transfixed by the vibe, he contacts Ewan to offer a release on Freerange and we’re now super-proud to present you with the Perfect Strangers EP. Four original tracks showcase Ewan’s impeccable attention to detail in the grooves, sounds and production. With the uptempo, afro-tinged synth jam of Take U Away and the more crunchy, minimal bounce of Logarithm, we find Ewan in pure dance floor mode on the A side. Flipping over we’re treated to Chika Kozo, a rolling groove with an emotive vibe, perfect for a late-night drive through the urban metropolis. Closing out
the EP things get more intimate and introspective on title track Perfect Strangers. Layers of warm pads build upon a punchy house groove whilst a filtered Moog bassline keeps the momentum and brings the low-end energy to the track. Overall Ewan’s sound melds together many sonic worlds, bringing to mind early Morgan Geist, elements of Warren ‘Hanna’ Harris, Black Dog, ART and early 90’s IDM, all put together with love and skill by a master of his trade. After approx. 50 releases on the market, the Sweden based label Tom Tom Disco managed by Richard Rossa is going to release his first Vinyl EP. For this very special occasion, Cornelius Doctor & Tushen Raï, head of Hard Fist records are signing their second EP with the remix support of the Indonesian master Jonathan Kusuma and the Lithuanian magician Roe Deers. A slow percussive 12inch tinted by Middle Easters synth melodies, Brazilian psychedelic Berimbau and strong acid lines made to kill every dance floor at less than 110bpm. One message : « People Pray Together », affirming that all humans believes, and that believing have no borders. « People Pray Together » as an allegory of the crowd symbiosis enjoying a late night dance in a wet club.

Philippe Quenum returns to Cadenza Music with 'Solitaire', some thirteen years after helping kick start the Swiss label with the 2003 release 'Orange Mistake'/'Funky Dandy'. This groundbreaking single, co-produced with Luciano, has since become a landmark release, not just for the label, but also as the benchmark for the micro-house and minimal tech-house genre that developed over the decade. With a music career than spans back to the mid-80s (dancing in NYC as part of the breakdance troupe, The Magnificent Force), Quenum found his forte with house music, both as a DJ, and as a producer and label owner. Setting up the Access 58 label in 1998 as a platform for his music and collaborations, Quenum has consistently released over the years for labels like Crosstown Rebels, Soma, alphahouse, Thema and Trapez LTD. 'Solitaire' finds Quenum on fine form; on the lead track, dubby FX and bass shaking shots roll out over an urgent disco beat, muted brass and technoid stabs fire from all directions as the tension building pads flourish. Shadowy forces are at play on 'Mystic'; discordant sounds echo and bellow over reverberating percussion and a dense back beat that fire into life with shuffling hi-hats. Wrapping up this welcome return to the label is 'Mystery'; whipping snares and industrial clangs rumble over the urgent drums for more hypnotizing dancefloor work from Philippe!

Reaching the milestone of its 100th single/EP release, Circus Company welcomes back Aquarius Heaven with a new EP of poignant, uplifting house music loaded with a meaningful message for these transient times. It's nearly three years since Brian Brewster delivered the Parallela Mundi 12', and in that time he has been on a relentless mission to spread his unique blend of house music, Caribbean roots and psychedelic magic across the globe in a whirlwind of live performances and collaborations. In a manifestation of his well-travelled soul, these new pieces call upon traditional influences in amongst the modern motifs that Aquarius Heaven has been built on, while lyrically dealing with the pressing issue of refugees escaping conflict, poverty and famine. The proud drum throwdown and carnival bleeps of 'Bato Chargé' conceal the seriousness of its theme. In Brewster's native tongue Creole, bato chargé translates as overloaded boat. With the Caribbean as equally rooted in the history of displaced humanity at the hands of sinister powers, the groove of 'Bato Chargé' takes on a defiant, hopeful tone directly inspired by the traditional percussive music style Gow Ka. '50 Drops' by way of contrast takes on a noirish tone with its gritty, street-weary tale and nocturnal melodics played out through enchanting arpeggios and warbling leads. Cooling off the tempo and heading into a digi-dub skank that plays off Brewster's roots in reggae and dancehall, 'Marie Galante' takes those same warm synths and runs them through a low-but-heavy stepping landscape; the perfect backdrop to the vocalist's dexterous ramblings on the mic. It's not often you hear Creole New Release Information delivered in contemporary electronic music, with a rare exception being the legendary work of Tikiman et al with Rhythm & Sound in the 90s.

The 3rd EP (of 4) looking at the music of Exquisite Corpse's output from 1992 to 1994. As with the rest of the series the music included covers the palette of Robbert Heynen's output and is presented here, remastered and redesigned for club play.

Working as ever with friend and engineer Tim Freeman, as well as partner Debbie Jones, Heynen's post-Psychick Warriors Ov Gaia productions took his techno, trance and tribal explorations to a new conclusions.

With Point Zero all these elements come together with possibly the strongest tracks of the EPs. Opening EC's sophomore album, Inner Light, there is confidence in the interplay between oscillating sequencing and rattling drums, perfectly and infectiously interweaving between headspace and dance floor.

B K S from the Dream Night Dance Music album follows and takes things down a notch. Ethnic leanings interplay with light percussion and a deep bass to pull you till dawn.

Side two opens with the clattering, syncro-rhythms of Traditional Ties With Dreaming. Taken from their debut EP, Reassembling Reality is itself the perfect elude. Quasi-dreamlands, drumming for 1000 musicians that loops and builds, dismembers and starts over like a gentile, hypnotic orchestra.

To complete the EP, Dream Night Dance Music appears again with Elevator showing a love of the original deep house odes emanating from Fingers and Jefferson of late 80s Chi Town. Fluorescent keys overlay somber drum and bass to sink the most melancholy sunsets. An end to the beginning. A beginning to the end. A third ending.

sssIn January 2016 arts and music organisation Santuri East Africa invited guest producer Jan Schulte to join the Nile Project gathering in Aswan, Egypt - an intensive two week musical experiment featuring musicians drawn from all around the Nile Basin that functioned as both a creative cauldron for cross-border collaboration, and a forum for artists and cultural activists to discuss the issues affecting the Nile river.

Wolf Mu¨ller aka Jan Schulte has been a resident of Dusseldorf's era-defining Salon des Amateurs for many years, releasing wildly inventive and dance music under various monikers - from his birth name to Wolf Mu¨ller, Bufiman and his Young Wolf collaboration with Young Marco. Schulte's feel for off kilter sounds and rhythms and a playful approach to the sometimes po-faced world of dance music have resulted in some incredibly well received releases (Instrumental Musik Von Der Mitte Der World and the compilation Tropical Drums of Deutschland being prime examples).

Santuri East Africa is an organisation set up to connect musicians and producers from around the globe, a process of co-collaboration that has led to some highly well received releases on Soundway (Msafiri Zawose) Sofrito (Auntie Flo's Soniferous Garden) and On the Corner (Makadem and Mugwisa).

Clocking in at a shade over 15 minutes, A-side 'Mabomba Dance' gradually layers Kasiva Mutua's needle-sharp percussion over a deep analogue bass pulse, building into a hypnotic dancefloor workout.

The B-side sees erstwhile Owiny Sigoma Band collaborator Rapasa Nyatrapasa showcase his Nyatiti harp before delving into an almost Afrobeat-esque slice of afro-minimalism. The EP rounds off with Adel Mekha's stellar vocals over traditional Nubian percussion.

Marvin Jupiter is an 18 year old artist who mainly makes hip-hop music, using bass lines as rhythms more associated with funk. He uses and creates the sound of the modern day interpretation of trap adding his own personal twist.

'Reach' is a rendition of the typical "house" genre including rhythms sampled from South American cultures, using current sounds from the "trap genre" even having a small section of a "trap/hip-hop" beat towards the end of the song.

Female vocal styles from Kenya, rewound as state of the art dance music: Four enthusiastic remix versions from four european electronic producers who magnificiently revisit ON MANDE, the latest album by kenyan vocalists OGOYA NENGO AND THE DODO WOMEN'S GROUP.

OGOYA NENGO AND THE DODO WOMEN'S GROUP are deeply rooted in the folk music culture of the Luo communities in Siaya County, western Kenya. Since 2013 producers Sven Kacirek (Hamburg) and Stefan Schneider (Düsseldorf) have regularly recorded with OGOYA NENGO at her village near Lake Victoria. Right after the release of their debut album RANG'ALA (Honest Jon's) the group has frequently been invited to extended touring in Europe and had quickly drawn a lot of attention from very diverse audiences.

In this respect ON MANDE VERSIONS is the first liaison between the traditional approach of Dodo music and contemporary electronic dance music.

LENA WILLIKENS (Comeme) saw Ogoyas breathtaking performance at Köln Stadtgarten in 2016. For the ORUTU RUN version, she took individual sound samples from different songs of the album. Orutu (a traditional kenyan one stringed instrument), a blow whistle and some vocal harmonies combine hypnotic strumming with propulsive rhythm machine patterns, only occasionally accentuated by shouts from a whistle.

MIX ZWEI by TOLOUSE LOW TRAX (Salon des Amateurs) is an intensely sparse signature mix by one of most original and prolific producers of today's electronic music. Captivatingly growing drum beats reflect the lovely sung vocal line "Where I see you I am here!" and relocates it to a momentum of after midnight funk.

As the shamelessly odd title already suggests, SORBE PEKINGESE by DON'T DJ (Borceuse Heroique) is an unrelenting excursion on digitally pitched vocal samples. Glistering frequencies all over the mix and MAXmsp treatments which expertly morph female vocals into a stunning alien imagery.

BUNDE DUB by Berlin based producer ORSON (Version) takes some complex Ohangla drum patterns to tight and powerful effect.

Bike Thieves are back. On last year's celebrated 'Laura EP', the Stockholm duo plunged into the sounds of classic garage and deep house. On 'Catherina EP', Daniel Strand and Erik Danielson move in a slightly different direction. An explosive blend of afro grooves, tribal vocals and deep kicks and basslines, 'Catherina EP' lets the rhythmic frenzy of Fela Kuti encounter modern house. The record also features Saine, one of Finland's finest underground producers.

On the opening title track of 'Catherina EP', Bike Thieves offer a mysterious deep house burner which slowly builds up around punchy congas, sweeping pads and female chants, eventually exploding in an orgasmic djembe solo. They get even more organic on 'The Greatest Curve', an afro jam driven by funky basslines and polyrhythmic percussions. On the B-side, Saine offers his own take on 'Catherina', turning the track into a hypnotizing and sleepless groove of dance floor tribal.

Masked, mythical, and bass! Few words are needed when superlative entities collide.Dengue Dengue Dengue are the Peruvian duo known for raising a tropical storm. Their electronic psychedelia and bass flows from their roots in Lima, Perú upstream to global dancefloors. The duo are constant in their evolution, exploring rhythms and sounds native to Peru and from the world over. Their focus is in recreating them in electronic form, mixing the old with the new, analog and with digital.

In owning their unique sound and visual identity they share a common quest in their pairing with London-Global label On the Corner. Already deemed 'Label of The Year' at the Worldwide Awards On the Corner are crossing more borders and breaking down the silo of left-field sounds having now been nominated for the 'Best Small Label' gong at the prestigious AIM Awards.
Gilles Peterson's 'Worldwide Premieres' called it back in summer 2016 saying that the label is 'On a never-ending quest to support and expose far-off musical cultures around the world'. On the Corner continues to leave no stone unturned.

In this 6-tracker Dengue Dengue Dengue team-up with label mates Penya. The band feature on the first track 'Pua' that sets a rich scene for the sonic journey ahead. The flip is stormed with title track 'Semillero' whilst hearts, minds and imaginations are set to be inspired with their versioning of 'Habu Raminibu' which is a healing chant of the Huni Kuin people whose ancient home is located deep in the Amazon where the borders of Peru and Brazil meet. The collaboration between artist and label seeks to honour and represent this heritage. The Huni Kuin have bestowed guardianship of this rare cultural treasure to Dengue Dengue Dengue and On the Corner.

'Semillero' is music that moves souls, allows imaginations to flourish and the feet to follow.

The spiritual concept running through this mini album/E.P is summed up in the meaning of title track's name. 'Semillero' is an incubator or seed. A place where new generations of life, culture and talent is nurtured, initiated, and bestowed with precious responsibility and knowledge. A place to keep, nurture and grow the seeds of the future.

Konduku returns with Gegek in the five piece sublabel series.

Finnish electro-tropical ensemble Maajo is delivering a new Queen Nanny EP with Ismaila Sané from Senegal. Currently based in Finland, Sané started his career as a dancer and percussionist in Dakar in 1974. He has since pursued an extensive international career and worked with the likes of Jimi Tenor and Piirpauke. Ismaila and Maajo have produced two powerful songs in Jola language, spoken in Casamance, Southern Senegal. Sèmbè is an off-beat mix of disco reggae grooves, dancehall rhythms, trancey synths, and African gospel. The dub version on the flipside does what a dub is supposed to do, strips the track to its bones for bass-heavy sound system. The second track, Anaata, is a dark and mellow dub disco groover with an equally sublime vocal performance from Ismaila Sané.

First production of the label Sound Crack Records, 'Organic Feeling (Tool
Mix)' is a run through the jungle, savage, tribal, the raw nature animals of
Mama earth bring the feeling of being in the middle of them, the TR08 add a
kick to the efficient duo live drum Fleury Saint Denis. A real tool for house
and techno DJ's to pump the energy to the top.
On the B side comes 'Before Midnight (Evolution Mix)'. This techno track is a
trip in the urban jungle, when the city sounds are coming out of nowhere, the
melody of the steel tongue drum live played by DJ GSD is bringing the human
vibration to heal the soul. An old school touch of Detroit techno, mix with a
meaningful speech of Kennedy will take you travelling through the evolution of
mankind.

"KUMP is delighted to release the first EP by HLM38 (ou HLM38's first EP), the naughty half of duo Ricco and member of the Notte Brigante crew from Lyon. The three original tracks, a mix of ethnic looting and industrial racket in slow motion, feel like steel wrapped in Turkish delight. Front de cadeaux's take on Illicite Cong' is reminiscent of an erotic rave flavoured with Oriental spices. Last but not least, Kris Baha slices up Exit' like a tablier de sapeur (local Lyonnais dish) served on a julienne of syncopated samples and noisy beats.'

Musically and emotionally, Superpitcher's third full-length studio album, The Golden Ravedays is a one sound autobiography that exhibits the skill, feeling and style that the artist has honed over a period of twenty years, musically, and forty-plus-years, emotionally.

The Golden Ravedays is an epic album of 24 tracks that was released in January 2017 and is stretching over 12 respective chapter albums during a one-year period.

The fifth piece of The Golden Ravedays puzzle will be released on Hippie Dance in May 2017.

Number 5 of the series introduces two further tracks of the sound adventure that Superpitcher is taking us on this year.

The djembe drum on the cover and the two titles of the tracks hint that this edition could potentially include stuff that was inspired by the rhythms and melodies of Africa - a sound legacy that is of great importance to Superpitcher. Side A features Bluesin.

Rumor has it that Superpitcher visited South Africa and adventurously traveled into the deep bush-bush where he met new friends with captivating voices who speak in enchanting tongues. Initially, Bluesin is bursting with aching, longing and the oldest story of sorrow but there is also comic relief and pride in this story; typical of the emotional signature of the sound of Africa and the Blues that it gave birth to later on.

Side B features Burkina.

It all starts rather innocently with Burkina.

One gets carried away by the funky, ethnic drumming thinking yummy yes, this is going to be a virtual trip to the Brazilian amazon, or maybe a corner of the Congo, Cameroon perhaps, and one is not even side-tracked by the arrival of birdsong and something that hypnotizes, like beautiful sirens because it is all too groovy for any dictionary, and then, oh boy, then their Mother Superior arrives and all hell breaks loose.

Frogs, kudu horns, rattlesnakes, things that hiss and croak and the haunting voice of Her.

As if that is not enough to make you believe you have been propelled to a new continent, wait until the ending of Burkina!

It will transport you to another universe altogether!

Fresh from classic releases on connected with 'Lust' Remix and 'Drained' EP from David Mayer and the sublime L.D.O.E. (Aaaron &Deckert) remix from Floyd Lavine, this time they team up for their own release , and its special !

A. Sondela feat.Xolisa - A beautiful almost nomadic journey through pulsing beats tense percussion and snatches of electrifying music evoking a celebration of earth water sun and music with dramatic percussive breakdowns massive synth drones all topped with a powerfull vocal urging the listener to 'Follow the Sound' maybe to the magical Sondela . Four stunning remixes of Front De Cadeaux by our Fabrizio Mammarella. Comprising Hugo Sanchez from Rome and DJ Athome from Bruxelles, Front De Cadeux serve up three brand new tracks of 4/4 leaning crackling, static dance-mechanics that will fit straight in to your peak time selection. Touching on tribal house at points and the foggy basements of Berlin in others these remixes are joined by Mammarella's 'Pedé BPM' re-work - a gnarly slice of synthetic EBM that was previously only available digitally.

Brotherhood Sound System masterminds, Silas & Snare, offer up an entrancing two tracker for BSS006 alongside a remix from one half of Genius Of Time, Arkajo.

'Tree Of Idleness' is a mysterious, delve into the depths of techno, full of crisp congas, a maze of shakers and modulated synthwork. Expansive soundscapes and tripped out samples reverberate throughout adding to the eerie aesthetic.

The B side takes a darker path via 'Paimpol's Theme', intertwining a multitude of synth melodies with echoing claps, heavyweight analog rumblings and sweeping delays. Journeying through its melancholic undergrowth, 'Paimpol's Theme' will enchant as much as it excites.

Closing out the EP Sweden's Arkajo, known for his work as one half of Genius Of Time, steps up to remix 'Tree Of Idleness', putting a harder hitting twist on the original. Focusing in on the synth stabs whilst layering ethereal strings and reworked conga and kick patterns, Arkajo produces a no-nonsense, club ready roller.

Previous BSS releases have picked up support from the likes of Skream, B.Traits, Madam X, Hodge, Arkajo, The Black Madonna, Agoria, Voyeur and DSC, and BSS006 is set to follow firmly in their footsteps.

BRS were a UK house outfit who released between 2000-2008 on their own imprint Friends & Families & on many other labels including 2020 Vision, Cyclo & Imperial Dub - the group comprised of Rob Evans, Ben Vacara & Mr Mulatto (the 2x latter now members of the Situation collective).

"Lovin' Me" was first released on a BRS EP on Imperial Dub recordings back in 2000. In its original format the 12" included The original mix, Dubtribe Sound System remix and a bonus track Bouncing.


SITUATIONISM are delighted to re-release the incredible full length Dubtribe Soundsystem remix again on limited vinyl. This remix became a classic, appearing on numerous compilations including Groove Armada's 'Another Late Night' and Ministry of Sound's Chillout sessions 2004 to name but a few.

Included on this limited vinyl run will be 2x new remixes from Italian deep house, motorbike duo Harley & Muscle & the also the lovely BitterSuite, both delivering quality mixes.

Nandu returns for his 2nd release on connected with another unique pair of tracks , the first an african influenced song with the mesmerising vocals of Oluhle , the second a 909 style acid dark dancefloor workout.
1. Nandu & Oluhle - Umfazi Omuhle (Original Mix)-
A gentle almost cautious arrangement building slowly and ethereally with a beautiful selection of sounds and an african influenced Nandu rythm with shakers and claves providing an original feel and leaving space for Oluhle's moving vocals.
2. Nandu - Another Jam (Another Acid Dub)-
A more aggressive,upfront side from Nandu. for the intense spot of the night with twisted groove of claps and percussion, heavier in the lows with a proper 909 kickdrum with the acid line coming in half way through..... hot.

The EP's exorbitant success and it's makers constantly evolving sound brings their relationship into late summer 2011 as Cadenza announce their sixty seventh cut; the 'I Ching' solo EP from Felipe Venegas. The two track EP triggers with "I Ching" and its spell binding intro of thundering gong crashes and jangling bells, betraying an almost story like theme as sporadic tom's and intense brass melodies converse with one another intensely.

Los Angeles DJ/Producer Jose Marquez's sound is a result of being brought up around Afro-Latin, Caribbean and other World Music at a young age. Always intrigued by electronic sounds as well, Jose's mission has been to fuse his love of global rhythms with the dance floor. Ankabé delivers just that!
The overall message of the song is about peace, 'Ankabé' means Unity in Sidy's native language of Bambara from Mali, West Africa. Sidy says 'The song is saying...let's all work together and bring the best in the world'.
Ankabé starts off minimally and slowly builds, creating anticipation as the drums start to get louder whilst Sidy's deep vocal intensifies to an inevitable climax that is sure to ignite any dance floor.
Jose says 'Sidy's vocal and drums are the perfect fit. You don't need to know the Bambara language to understand what the song is saying, you can feel it in the rhythm....let the drums speak to you.'
Jose burst onto the scene in 2010 with memorable remixes & edits of artists such as Celia Cruz, Nina Simone, Oumou Sangare and many others. Originally released in 1992, Klasse Wrecks remaster and re-issue this piece of forgotten proto-prog for 2018. Tribal stompers unite!

TYR number 5 is here from emerging artist GMG. This Berlin based producer is a classically trained jazz musician and you can hear it shining through each carefully crafted composition. On the B side we start out with a top-tier remix from D_Roots, who delivers one of the most solid grooves of the year. These tracks are like nothing we'd ever heard before; they are truly original. Hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

RS (Rinchoa Stress) began in 2014 as a group of close friends, even before they started producing. The warm shout-outs in closing anthem "Hino RS" reveal the affection they feel for each other, just after the main melodic hook gets going. Things got serious in 2016 when Narciso, then 17, decided to take production seriously and relaunched RS as a proper crew with DJs (himself, Nuno, Nulo and Lima), producers (himself, Nuno and Farucox) and MC (Pimenta).

Out of "Bagdad" (Rinchoa, Rio de Mouro), in under 2 years, RS made a name for themselves with tight, across the board grooves, working melody and metal beats with equal proficiency. "Caipirinha" and "Constipação Do Poco" adopt a more muscular batida architecture and rave on with proper metallic cargaa; "Guerreiro" brings out a brilliant, dissonant main motive, defying some rules of melody and timbre; a string of semi-tarraxos follows: "Lingrinhas" and "Atrevimento" insist on the "wrong" side of melody in less than 2 minutes each and, at 2:04, "Futuro" slows down even more in a reflective mood while all around everything appears to be falling apart (listen closely to the explosions in the distance); on to the longer stretch of "Abertura", a house number where every element seems to follow its own independent course, carefully placed in a separate track, all moving in the same direction. Narciso and Nuno layed down all compositions here, teaming up as the core producers of RS, growing up post DJs Di Guetto (2006 - see our timeline elsewhere on the web) and into the crew's now regular gigs at Príncipe's monthly residency (@Musicbox, Lisbon).

Autarkic describe himself as first and foremost a songwriter but he has also made a name for himself as an international DJ. Over the past three years the musician based In Tel Aviv has, with great success, played clubs throughout all of Europe. One extra memorable gig was on last year's edition of Convenanza in the amphitheatre in Sete, France. Rumour has it that the sea living mammals of the area flocked in large groups in the waters below during Autarkic's gig.

This 12'' record is his first release on Hoga Nord Rekords and the slightly psychedelic, sample- and synthesiser based club music that has become Autarkic's trademark sound is captured by an impeccable production. The music is playful, yet stripped down to the essentials and not overloaded. The vocal elements works more as percussive elements than the carrier of the storytelling in the music.

"Kawuku Sound is the coming together of UK producers Contours & Cervo and Ugandan percussion troupe Fonkodelis Arkestra. This is the culmination of a month-long creative process that was born out of the Nyege Nyege affiliated Boutiq Studio in Kawuku, Kampala - Uganda.
The music was written and recorded in this shared residency space, home to musicians and visual artists from all over East Africa and beyond, and a hub for Kampala's underground electronic music scene. Boutiq Studio's DIY mentality provided the perfect environment for experimentation, allowing the fusion of these disparate sounds. Kawuku Sound is a reflection of this, merging the hypnotic and trance-inducing percussion of Buganda drumming with elements of contemporary electronics and traditional instrumentation. This the first album release to come out on Manchester imprint Banana Hill as they continue to push the boundaries of afro-electronic sounds.

For This Release, They Are Joined By South African Producer Jakinda & Cologne's Christian S (cómeme). Jakinda Forms Half Of The Duo Stiff Pap And Describes His Sound As Afro-future Electronica, A Sound Containing Elements Of Gqom, Tribal-house, Ethiopian Electronica And Kasi-tech. Christian S Makes Use Of His Distinguishable Style And Creates The Most Abstracted Version Of This Track, Not Scared To Heavily Cut Up The Vocals And Apply His Pitched Drums. Turbo Recordings is proud to present a release a full year in the making. A&R'd by Turbo Elder Thomas Von Party, Gender embodies the adventurous spirit of his own Multi Culti label, and marks a return to the kind of mega remix pack we used to make when the world was young and an alternate dub rework was all you needed to get by. Germany's Skinnerbox sets the template with a high-speed jungle rave banger, which is an accurate enough description but not something we would expect you to ever repeat out loud. The 12-inch also features versions by Swedish nice guy Axel Boman, who missed the submission deadline by 13 minutes but still managed to turn in a 12-minute epic jam, and Glasgow's Auntie Flo, who somehow harnessed the siren song of the iPhone with a marimba-heavy mix.

After a hiatus in Extended Records, we return with our sub label for vinyl releases called Discos Extendes.

Our first record, 'Todos os Pássaros São Meus Amigos' is from a new Portuguese project called Turista, another moniker from the well known Hugo Vinagre (Miguel Torga / Early Jacker).

On the A Side, 'Hippies' and 'Kimbundu' are two slow burners with heavy vocal samples, taking us to tribal and African landscapes.

The 3rd Release on Alma Negra Records is dedicated to the music of Eritrea, a small (in African terms, that is) country nestled in between Sudan and Ethopia on the south end of the Red Sea. Drawing from its native spiritual roots as well as the christian and islamic influences of conquering factions, this multiethnical country is home to an amazingly diverse plethora of cultures and musical styles.

On this EP, we are happy to showcase the music of the Saho People from the Region of Zula, which is located in between the coastal lowlands close to the Dahlak archipelago. The word "Saho" roughly translates (translated) as "Nomad", pointing towards a lifestyle where tradition and culture is being passed on orally over generations.
The exact source for these edits of the Saho Sound are thus lost to the murky depths of history, as they are based on traditional folksongs.
With kind permission of Colophon Records, we were able to work on this great Material and are now very happy to shed some light onto the wonderful music of this region and its people!

A-Side : Alma Negra - Haleto lale lalô (Saho)
Complete with that global clarion call of partying it up, the ululate trill (google it), this is again a call & response vocal pattern, seemingly at odds with the somber backing track. Exploring a deeper, jazzier mood, we added moody piano chords and a balafon, with a subtle but big bassline and some hefty 808-thud holding everything together.

B-Side : SOL - Erytrea Nèdègé (Saho)
The B-side packs a previously unreleased edit of the band SOL. They gave us this tune two years ago and it has ignited dancefloors between Belgium and Croatia since, so we are proud to finally release this beauty to the world. A minimalist percussive belter, driven along by an eerie vocal-loop, until a male vocal introduces the main melody that eventually bursts into a full call & response chant with a female choir.
Never underestimate the power-combo of nothing but drums and vocals. No more words needed, feel for yourself.

Nubian Quadrant EP sees Dutch producer Philou reaching for that sweet spot between Afro and Electro to produce three pulsing new tracks for Byrd Out. As Philou says, "All good music ultimately comes from Africa", and true to his African roots, the EP was part recorded in Malawi. With his tracks being picked up by the likes of Erol Alkan and Eats Everything, this EP is sure to provide the rhythmic backdrop to the summer. Biog: Philou Louzolo, a vibrant human being showcasing a diverse sound: born and raised in between the forests and the salty ocean breeze of Southern Zeeland (The Netherlands). Blessed with deeply rooted ties to the townships of Sierra Leone, the jungle surrounding the Congo river and Nigeria - where the birth of Fela Kuti's Afrobeat took place - his music sounds like Pan-African propaganda packed with sounds from urbanized cities, the Sahara and Africa's many jungles. He's been making waves with a Mixtape for the Feel My Bicep guys (it's #84), and getting airtime on BBC Radio 6 with Erol Alkan, and on BBC Radio 1 with Eats Everything, and playing Resident Advisor's GAIN stage at DGTL in Amsterdam in March, and playing at Morocco's boundary-pushing Altas Electronic festival later this year.

The producer crew around footjob completes catalogue number 12 with the first ever label-sampler, highlighting their love for a variety of styles. Le Rubrique starts the journey with an afro disco banger, followed by a funky piano piece from Phonk D and the jazz formation Triorität for all the old school lovers out there. The flipside continues with an extraordinary dancefloor filler by Lukas Lehmann and the label's own supergroup Pallaspeople. On the last track Sascha Ciminiera takes us into the deepness of meditative house music with a sexy sax line. You better cop that!

Following a string of tour dates with his good friend Joy Orbison and setting up his own Well St records imprint, FOLD returns to AUS with the 'Aegean Sea' EP.
Rob Glassett aka FOLD delivers three 90's Peacefrog inspired deep percussive house jams, accompanied by a big room broken beat Mall Grab remix.

The Lyon imprint Hard Fist strikes again with the collaborative Princes of Abzu EP, federating producers hailing from multiple horizons.

Although they may belong to different geographical spaces (London, Moscow, Amman, Tokyo, Paris...), the artists gathered in the EP share a common love for middle-eastern sounds and their transcendantal powers, which they mix with cosmic industrial beats, creating mystical imaginary landscapes, as if beduins were organising a pagan rave in a Düsseldorf factory. In addition with the producers, many musicians took part in this project, like for instance Mejwez's player Abu Sayah and Hervé Carvalho from Acid Arab who play in Semsemeh.

A hedonist move, caring more about vibes and feelings than borders and nationalities. Referring to a mythological source that is the sea to every river, Princes of Abzu is a drop in a global culture expanding its currents to infinity.

The opening track Place du Pont made by the two label heads Cornelius Doctor and Tushen Raï is built on a heavy hypnotic / electro bassline heightened with voices samples & oriental Oud sounds giving it a trippy flavor.

Halay is the fruit of a collaboration between Parisians Ko-Shi-Moon and Moscovites Simple Symmetry. The track (remixed by Cornelius Doctor) tells the tale of the Halay dancers reveling in circle, exhilarated by an industrial groove while strange synthetic voices whisper.

In the middle of the EP, J.A.K.A.M releases the tension and brings a meditative note. Jazzy yet exhilarating, Tribes sounds like a road trip in the desert while the sun is rising.

Producer and percussionist Shadi Khries is also inspired by the desert, one place in particular : Wadi Rum, in his home country Jordan. He mixes traditional instruments like semsemeh (which gives its name to the track) bouzouki and oud, with electronic acid textures that makes it perfect for the club.

Finally, Timothy Clerkin's track is a meeting of two his favourite worlds : guitar-based psychedelic music & dark, mechanical acid - all covered with a film of Eastern smoke, hypnotized by the tablas running relentlessly. Listening to the track is supposed to feel a bit like you're trying to wade through drying cement, somewhere in a dystopian future, industrial factory in the Middle East, obviously.

Tokyo tag-team Kei and Nagi Sugano, aka Dazzle Drums, have been responsible for secret weapons in the bags of some of the finest DJs since their debut in 2005. In addition to supporting Danny Krivit each time he plays in Tokyo, the duo periodically floats him exclusive edits to test out during his expansive sets. Two of these in particular have become regular features on M. K's dance floors, and it is these prime choices that have been selected for the latest release on Most Excellent Unlimited.Brothers Gonna Work It Out" takes the cinematic soul classic and toughens it up with a propulsive drum track and immaculate editing to extend and energize the already powerful tune. "Get Down Boy" is a relentlessly driving disco cut whose dramatic synth-and-string heavy instrumentation provides a plush bed for seductive female vocals before giving way to a tremendous bass break that is certain to leave dancers in a sweat.Reverently mastered and spread over a wide-grooved 12-inch single, it's another MEU sure-shot.

After releasing a brilliant and stomping three-tracker on Kontra-Musik White Label last year, ex-Durian Brother Harmonious Thelonious returns to the Kontra-Musik family with an absolute gem of a record. This is everything we want dance music to be: characterful, playful and impossibly funky. Harmonious Thelonious is a master of crafting organic sounding rhythms but arranging them in a manner that reminds one of a 1970's car factory. Primal pulses running through modern assembly lines, gears and pistons covered in green lianas. The result is a perfect symbiosis between living tissue and mechanical parts - dance music for primitive cyborgs.

Nous'klaer welcomes Rotterdam based DJ and producer Konduku to the label with his debut called Kiran. Altin and Mavi Saat (Golden and Blue Hour) form the framework of the trip, easing in and out with a 4x4 groove. In between the opening and closing act Kiran is less straightforward - A powerful polyrhythmic hybrid of Eastern Europe sounds mixed with UK resulting in contagious grooves that will surely spark many dancefloors.

The penultimate release on Optimo Trax (at least for now) comes from Tel Aviv's mighty Kalbata. I was already a big fan and was so delighted when he got in touch to see if I would be interested in releasing something by him. Unusually for Optimo Trax this is one track in 3 versions but each version is so different that often I play them all in one DJ set. Originally there were two versions but as Kalbata is a renowned master of dub (check out the documentary online about him recording in Jamaica), I gently persuaded him to do a no-holds-barred dub mix too which appears here as Enkuan pt 3.
A few words about the record from Kalbata -
I went to Ethiopia in the beginning of 2017 to record musicians. The most memorable one was Mulugeta Teshome who plays the Washint flute on this record. It's a traditional Ethiopian flute made out of wood, and Mulugeta came to the studio carrying a whole bag of them, each one in a different key. We chose the scale and started the recording session. I ended up taking the tracks a lot further with the three cuts on the record but really it all started that day, in a small studio shack in Addis Ababa.

The 12" is rounded with remixes by Fantastic Man and John Talabot, who take the tracks to new dance floor and psychedelic heights. 12 Rhythms as the name already suggests, is a Collection Series on Alma Negra Records. Each Issue is dedicated to a specific rhythm based on its groove stemming from its cultural origins. In a world surrounded by a plethora of grooves and rhythms, we have selected those which influenced us or just simply liked the most.

The first Issue and first release on Alma Negra Records is dedicated to the unmistakable rhythms of Brazil. Growing up surrounded by the rich sounds from traditional to totally experimental; Brazilian Music has heavily influenced our own sound and direction.

Vision
This issue aims to distinguish itself from other compilations and demonstrates important atypical Grooves of Brazilian Culture. Instruments like the Berimbau used in the "Capoeira" or "Berimbau" itself or the carnival strong Batucada Beat has been combined with the mysteries of brazil experimental music heard in the track "Vision".
Hypnotic Experimental Vocals, dub chords combined with an own interpretation of a Batucada Rhythm recorded live in our Studio in Basel, "Vision" is clearly a one of those tracks heard in the heart of the night which is sure to keep those feet moving
to its pulsating beats.

Capoeira
Capoeira is a Dance (Fight) originating from Angola and was developed by Brazilian Slaves to better defend them against violence inflicted by their Masters. As they crafted this martial art, the perfect cover was to create a "dance to music." Every dancer is singer and musician so no one is restricted to any set role. The creation of the unique sound is normally through three Berimbau's and two Pandeiro drums. This demonstrates a classic Capoeira Groove, with this Alma Negra Edit setting out to strike every dancefloor.

A smooth sailing track with variations of Berimbau, that create a trance like vibe when combined with harmonic flutes. Rat Life Records presents Serial Error a Project by Credit 00, Jacob Korn & Sneaker. This outfit was brought to life in 2013 when Red D called for some New Beat style tracks for his "Our Beat Is Still New" Compilation. Flying a bit too low under the radar ever since Rat Life decided to reissue Drum Abuse on a Super Sound Maxi Single. The Track was made in Jacob Korn's headquarter studio / synthesizer museum. The task distribution was hit quickly: Jacob squeezing the acid out of his huge Formant modular system, Credit 00 beating the drums on the Boss DR 660 and Sneaker throwing his unique vocals on top!

Even though we're not paladins of pure concepts, the sound we're currently looking to release usually has a raw, kinda primitive and rough around the edges nature. We're definitely not looking for the generic "soul sample meets a 4x4 beat" kind of edit. The first release is by Mike Simonetti and I would love to have it for sale in your possible. The first 300 copies were completely unknowns with whitelabels and matrixes scratched so nobody knew what it was. We made a repress now which is hand stamped and comes with a sticker on the cover.

Shimza, real name Ashley Raphala, is one of South Africa's brightest young talents. 'Ascendent", his 4 tracks debut E.P. on Cadenza reveals solid production skills and an innate instinct for peak-time bangers. The opening track, 'Congo Congo' is a dark ride over abysmal tom-tom drums, lively percussions and a gloomy bass lead, ignited dramatically by an ensemble of wide synthetic stabs and chords. In its 'Dub- Mix", the drums and the percussion become lighter without diminishing its dynamic tension. The overall weight of the leads and the stabs is reduced, leaving more space to its intense piano and string chords and swinging sub bass. 'Shimza - Secret Melodies' starts with an obscure bass line, but the intense twist of fractioned rolls and arpeggios bring an ascending piano progression that quickly blooms into an uplifting symphony. 'Selector' is a deeper cut that keeps the gaze on the dancefloor: the incessant hand clapping and a cloud of low frequencies bumps unexpectedly drag its hypnotic harmonies into a breath-taking drop.

Cervo is no stranger to producing high quality dancefloor ready House cuts. Released on 13th October, 'Deyo / Kasoa' is no exception to this rule. After a tough period mentally and a formative trip to Ghana, Cervo combines his love for field recordings with his well known take on the classic House structure. The end result is slighter harder than his previous work but signifies his growth and development as an artist. The lead track, 'Deyo', starts as it means to go on. Straight away the punchy and energetic percussions draws you in and remains captivating for the entire track but it's the melody that stands out. The sense of urgency is soothed by looping bass and piano riffs, complimenting each other perfectly throughout. 'Kasoa' is approached differently than the flip 'Deyo', more care and consideration is taken. It slowly builds up with field recordings as the backdrop providing context before allowing a clear and definitive vibe to be established.

* Nan Kolé, producer, DJ and head of influential label on-the-rise, Gqom Oh!, returns to Black Acre for his debut proper with 'Bayefal', after first collaborating with Nervous Horizon's Wallwork on his 'Facts / Fyah' 12' at the back end of 2016.

* Originally from Rome, although now a resident of London, Nan Kolé has been a major player in the expansion of Durban's Gqom sound after discovering it in early 2015. Through his label, Gqom Oh!, he honed in on a network of South African producers operating out of Durban, unlocking the keys to a world of music largely untapped by audiences outside of Southern and Western Africa.

* 'Bayefal', he explains, was made while still living in Rome and was inspired by a group he formed called PepeSoup, which consisted of an Italo-Liberian singer, Karima 2g, and Senegalese percussionist and singer, Moustapha Mbengue. 'For me, he (Mbengue) was a mentor and taught me a lot spiritually but also mentally', Kolé explains, 'and without his hard work I wouldn't be here for sure. This track is dedicated to him, as he's a Muslim Bayefal.' A joyous, steadfast drum workout made in the carnival spirit, 'Bayefal' also serves as an ode to his love for both West African rhythms and more specifically, the Gqom sound.

* On the flip, 'Malumz' — backed up with two dark, brooding remixes by Durban's Citizen Boy and crew, Formation Boyz — is another track rooted in personal experience. 'Malumz is a tribute to my Gqom Oh! family', Kolé explains. 'They call me Malumz, which in Zulu means 'Uncle'. The first time Citizen Boy called me 'Malumz', it was overwhelming — I felt a change in my relationship with all the guys, because they started to treat me more as a family member, which meant a lot.'

* The original mix, a stark, pulsing drum-track dotted with playful whistles and bleepy sampling again celebrates Kolé's fascination with the Gqom sound, while first Citizen Boy and then Formation Boyz flip 'Malumz' with harsher, grittier tones and crunching, industrial textures.

Colombian Afro-Caribbean House band Ghetto Kumbé is back with another banging 5 tracks EP., produced with Uk based The Busy Twist.
Formed in 2015, Ghetto Kumbé is composed of three of the most skilful musicians from the popping modern Colombian scene, all of indigenous and African origins .

Having worked with legendary Toto La Momposina or Quantic's Ondatrópica among many others, Chongo's percussions are truly part of the Colombian musical heritage.
Doctor Keyta', for his part, has dedicated his life to learning how to master the art of playing African percussions.
Soy Selva' transalted as I'm Jungle' is about the ancient people of Colombia, their traditions, their relations with mother nature, universal respect and ritual dancing.

Dortmund based producer ''Mr. Fries'' comes up with a soul'ed out 4-track EP for the Soul Notes imprint (11th installment in the main series).
''Norightnowrong'' is a cut that thrives through the use of the catchy vocal cut and the Rhodes that come in on various occasions.

For the A2 ''Datkoollook'' which features fellow North Rhine - Westphalia artist ''Kandinsky''. This track is a more uptempo disco tainted club track which showcases a great guitar solo.

On the B1 we find ''Change''. This is a thrilling piece of work with a some short chords that cut throughout and nicely fitting vocal cuts.

Cologne based Soul Notes usual ''Adryiano'' comes up with a very club oriented version of ''Norightnowrong'' in his signature style.

This is Toma Kami's first release on his own label Man Band. The imprint's name derives from the well known 'one man band' expression and aims to focus on the correlation between this statement and the process of making electronic music as one person. 'Chico Buarque Construção Revisited' by L_cio is a beautiful debut project part of a DOC series of releases combining classic Brazilian names with DOC artists and producers.
L_cio (Laercio Schwantes) the man with the transverse flute known for some of the freshest and unique tracks coming out from Brazil is behind this gemstone.
Increasingly building a legacy of fans following his live performances and recent releases on DOC Records (Vazio; Traffic; People Talk; Schwantes), this man is a non-stoppable 30 hours machine gun.
On this long awaited 2-track limited edition vinyl release, L_cio and Gui Boratto kept the roots of this classic track 'Construção'. However they added all the proper elements of a techno dance floor knockout. By inserting malicious baselines, flutes and strings they generated aggressive melodies while keeping all characteristics of this epic song.

Voted as the greatest Brazilian song by Rolling Stones magazine, 'Construção was originaly recorded by Chico Buarque in 1971 with production by Roberto Menescal. Released during military dictatorship, Chico Buarque criticizes the way of life of the Brazilian workers, comparing them to machines.

The song is known for its interchangeable last words, used 'as if they were pieces of a board game', as said by Buarque.
Generatiions apart, Construção (L_cio & K_ri Version)' and 'Construção (L_cio & Boratto's Deconstructed Mix)' are the first ever authorized remixes in over 45 years.

Toy Tonics' MUSHROOM HOUSE series brings together different shades of afro-weirdo-psychedelic vibes in dance music. All tracks have been made exclusively for Toy Tonics. The musical range is wide: The third EP goes from Arabic guitars to Nubian chants and looots of percussions. The bass drum is four-on-the-floor, but switches from midtempo (Kiwi: We are here) to classic New York LoFi -Disco grooves (Ponty Mython). The other 2 tracks on the EP feature an emptier vibe: Less toms - more Drum machines. More Techno. Red Axes deliever probably one of their weirdest works. Their Munk rework is pure craziness. The melodies come from another space. The last track on the EP is made by old Toy Tonics friends from Milano: The Barking Dogs. They teamed up with Tom Trago in the basement studio of the great record store they run in Milan: Serendeepity Records. They are known for selling obscure, but classy music for dance floors and that's what they do when the make music on their own. Like on "Your High": An obscure groove meets a sloppy bassline and stoned vocals.

Now fitted with a new iron hip- thanks to the immense generosity of his fan base who crowdfunded the operation - the Azymuth drummer still remains one of the greatest and outright funkiest drummers alive anywhere in the universe as he enters this new bionic era. As people of earth are not yet quite ready to hear the explosively ethereal cosmic samba of his new album just yet, we're easing into it with a series of appropriately propulsive percussive jazz-headed remixes. Topping off another slow year at Assistance HQ, Mr Assister channels some slightly darker shades for the second release on BEAM, aimed squarely in the vague direction of the dance floor. In 'Masonic Forest', a rabble of delirious bongos get blown off course, trudging endlessly through the tangled grounds of the grand lodge. Down below on 'Jordan', drums pound incessantly and chants echo from the murky distance, valiant but ultimately inert on their futile march to nowhere.

* Over the past six years, Dimensions has become a leading name in the underground, with its festival, International Series, DJ Directory and Dimensions Soundsystem. Now, Dimensions extends its influence with the start of its label - Dimensions Recordings. The label launches with a 12-track compilation across three separate discs. 'An Introduction' makes a huge statement in setting out the label's intent and breadth. With artists established and new stepping up to present 12 exclusive tracks.

* Dimensions Recordings explores its darker side on An Introduction Part 3 with intergalactic oddities and twisted techno constructions, the release is definitely ones for the late hours. 'Crosstalk' from gear heads London Modular Alliance opens; a squelching, electro, hardware excursion demonstrating a small snippet of what's to come from the talented trio. Next, French artist, Upwellings steps up to demonstrate his purist approach as he unites elements of dub and techno to create the beautifully spacey 'Soft Shadows'. The third offering comes courtesy of Fachwerk label boss and prolific techno artist, Mike Dehnert; who presents raw but melodic track in 'Tokio,'which maintains his minimal and stripped back aesthetic beautifully. Chicago's Steven Tang in his Obsolete Music Technology rounds off the release with 'Comb Freq,' a devastatingly powerful mix of acidic, bleeping dance floor energy!

Not much was planned, but the voice and the keyboard notes our dear Brazilian friend Roberto Coelho hit, gave the whole thing its not so but quite ambiguous form and meaning. Even though this might be ''psychology for dummies'' you probably can say there is a heavy influence from their Portuguese culture and their hometown Lisbon. But sticking to the facts... there is some wonderful and special music on this record!

Physical Therapy assembles a flurry of kicks and thick breaks around deep subs and tender harmonies. Lush moments are balanced with saturated rhythms, pushing the momentum in each tune.
