Sleeparchive - Trust LP (2x12")
TRESOR316
Tresor
2x12inch31.05.202231.MAY.22

TechnoDetroitTechno

repress

Throughout his career, Roger Semsroth has followed a deep intuition for experimentation in sound, wrapping club music around eerie microtonal motifs and industrial sensibilities. This new work for Tresor takes a step forward, as the first true techno album from Sleeparchive, where his previous LPs have exhibited themselves more conceptually, or under di erent names and his Nord Vest label.
Semsroth has been active in electronic music since the late 90s. He received initial attention first for his electro productions under the alias Skanfrom and the 80s minimal synth inspired Television Set. These projects echoed his love for these sounds, which the East Berliner had steadily immersed himself with after the end of the GDR. Upon hearing the bleeps of Mika Vainio and Plastikman, he began to engage with his strain of techno. Over the last decade, he has focused on his Sleeparchive alias, which dates back to 2004. Alongside close friend DJ Pete, he performs live techno as TR-101. His relationship with Tresor began in 2011, first releasing the Ronan Point EP and following up with the crucial A Man Dies In The Street series in 2013.
With this new album, Sleeparchive's impact on the techno sound is ever more relevant. Awaking in constant locomotion, locked-in, unrelenting and dry. Sleeparchive’s churning loops etch visions of tight minimalism at times densely frenetic and others serenely galactic. This predilection continues throughout the four sides on the album, eschewing conventional arrangement styles with gradual probabilistic change. Tracks such as 'Needle' and 'Peccant' o er up precise, sinewy techno. 'Leave' recalls the Detroit sound of Terrence Dixon, with its cascading synth tones and droning atmospheres. The album closes with a di erent version of 'Trust' to that found on last year’s Revised Recordings EP released on Tresor, with its now-familiar nerve-inducing pizzicato strings even more at the fore with its mechanic delivery.

Brood x Cycles - Sleep Nameless Fear
CON200LP
The state51 Conspiracy
12inch21.06.202221.JUN.22

TechnoTechnoDrone

In the spring of 2019 Void and Tucker convened at Void’s Demna Studio to record two days of modular improvisations. Using their individualised modular cases they connected the two configurations to create one whole system where they could integrate and meld sequences, beats, drones and samples. Key to the duo’s process was bringing the organic textures of guitar, cello and voice together with machine rhythms, creating a balance between circuitry and the human body.

The duo edited down the raw recordings into their crucial moments, expanding upon the improvisations into eight cohesive pieces.
Sleep Nameless Fear carves out a world of heavy percussive patterns, monolithic drones, disembodied voices and noise frequency manipulation into one detailed vortex.

Peak Time Dance Music

TechnoTechnoElectroBeatsBassHouseDub

After lurking on the internet as an outlet for Dreamlogicc's solo and collaborative work, cheeky Peak Time Dance Music launches its physical imprint with a half dozen tracks of drum-driven madness. Drawing raw rhythms and rugged sound design from gqom, integrating elements of electro, grime, and techno, these flexible beats absolutely stomp. While the core sound remains, the moody grooves from his Kimochi Sound releases and bassy halftime from Main Drain Studios take the back seat here: it's a 12" for the club.

Emptyset - Signal
SUB015
Subtext Recordings
12inch23.09.201523.SEP.15

TechnoTechnoIndustrialBeatsAmbient

* Emptyset present a live recording of their performance project Signal, which explores the effects of atmospheric propagation and transmitted sound.
* Developed between Bristol and Berlin over the course of 2014, the performance took place in Berlin on February 1st 2015. The project worked with long distance high frequency radio transmission in order to bounce audio composed of sine wave structures across the atmosphere, in a process that ornamented and shaped the signal in accordance with physical fluctuations in the ionosphere, atmospheric noise and solar radiation patterns.* The signal path for the performance transmitted the audio across a real-time 2000km circuit, routed from Berlin to Nauen 40k west of the city, where it was transmitted from the oldest operational transmission station in the world, received by the 1950's French radio base Émetteur d'Issoudun and from there retransmitted and received at the performance space in Berlin. The multiple atmospheric bounces imprinted into the audio introduced complex transformations of sound.

Hello Skinny - Revolutions
SLOEP022
Slowfoot Records
12inch23.09.201323.SEP.13

HouseElectronicaTechTechnoTechno

In demand drummer for Melt Yourself Down and the Owiny Sigoma Band, Tom Skinner, steps out of the spotlight from his recent worldwide successes with these acclaimed collectives and a recent EU tour with Owiny Sigoma Band supporting Atoms For Peace to release his new EP Revolutions as Hello Skinny. Swiftly following on from his acclaimed and self-titled debut album, Tom Skinner's Hello Skinny project ratchets back into view with the genre-blurring EP/mini-album Revolutions.

Side A of this new 12" comes in the form of two brand new Hello Skinny tunes, Revolutions parts 1 and 2, written and recorded with live band members Hugh Jones and Shabaka Hutchings.

Side B begins with Zero 7's minimal techno take on Crush from last year's self-titled Hello Skinny LP. Followed by two further remixes, a take on Knot Blue by fellow Slowfoot artist (and member of Hello Skinny's live band) Crewdson aka Hugh Jones and then capped off by Skinner's Melt Yourself Down colleague Pete Wareham and his midnight reverb reworking of Bump.

Furtive - Tephra EP
MF003
Mild Fantasy
12inch06.04.202206.APR.22

TechnoTechnoDark

Tephra is the latest mesmerizing, propulsive EP by Philadelphia-based rave conjurer Furtive. With captivating woozy arpeggios, high-pressure textural progression, and sharp scintillating sound design, Furtive’s release is a fresh and powerful entry on Mild Fantasy - the brainchild of NYC-based DJ/producer Elle Dee.

Furtive is a full-gonzo rave rat, intractably committed to the dancefloor as a producer, DJ, and DIY event organizer. Tephra showcases a canny approach to creative techno dynamics most familiar to die-hard dancefloor supplicants who’ve both been in the booth and worshiping in front of the speaker stacks.

The EP kicks off with its namesake track: Tephra is a pressure-building whirlwind of dense, textural progression and explosive tension-and-release dynamics. Mounting from a muscular low-end pattern up to a dramatic break, Tephra is a proper warp-drive weapon.

With Strobe Bubble Romance, Furtive dives into pedal-to-the-metal rave acceleration with jagged arpeggio interplay and sharper sound design. In gentler, more romantic contrast, Iris Blur brings back a dizzying melodic progression to even out the blistering pulse of the former.

Question Accelerator (No Answers) is a trippy twist in the EP, comprising a high-torque psychedelic drum and bass journey. As a digital-only bonus, Furtive closes the release with Lullaby, a haunting ambient exploration.

A ferociously productive producer with over a decade of experience bending sounds, Furtive cut their teeth as a DJ and promoter in Washington, DC’s warehouses, where they also played a turnkey role in putting on some of the District’s zaniest techno parties. They’ve supported internationally celebrated non-nonsense acts and held court in dingy watering holes with eclectic selections and a steadfast focus on pacing, dynamics, and surprises. Beyond the fog and strobe lights, Furtive creates art in various mediums, including linocuts, render art, inky drawings, and tattooing.

IGNEZ - NADI EP
TOKEN107
Token Records
12inch05.05.202205.MAY.22

TechnoTechno

Following the release of his track 'Celestial' on Fuga III, Ignez is back on Token for his own 4 track EP 'Nadi' to confirm that his work cannot be overlooked. Dissonant and seductive synth work offer the only release from a uniquely unforgiving use of percussion throughout the project - a masterclass in effect.

Kicking off the record with a track built on atmospheric shifts certainly sets the tone and it's called 'Aura'. Carefully sequenced and erratic synth lines are thinly sliced by high energy top percussion to make an anxious opening. Moving on to the A2, Ignez strips things down to the essentials and takes out the ear candy. Being the most rhythmically-centered piece of the project, 'Warrior One' fills space through the body of its few elements to accept tension from a simple yet hypnotic vocal synth. The linear quality of this piece then dives into the persistently moody title track 'Nadi'. A more cinematic addition to the EP, 'Nadi' brews tension through most of its elements over the duration of the track to be released into a deep club groove with expert attention to detail. The attitude of this track makes for a twisted way to drop into the final piece of the EP, 'Centaurus'. Built on a strong base of a more classically crafted rhythm, the unpredictability of this B2 lies in the melodic interactions between the bass synth and suspenseful strings that stalk the listener for a cliffhanger of a closer.

Ben Sims - *1* Air Rage Ep
DC93
Drumcode
12inch10.05.201210.MAY.12

TechnoTechno

Founded in 1996, Adam Beyers Drumcode has become synonymous with all that is exciting about techno. Having completed a landmark year in 2011 with the labels 15 Year anniversary celebrations that included a 12-date club tour and a 28-track various artist compilation, Drumcode gets back to the future in 2012 with a busy schedule of releases. Followers of Drumcode over recent times will recognize some familiar names within the schedule with projects confirmed from
Adam Beyer & Joseph Capriati, Ben Sims, Alan Fitzpatrick, Kaiserdisco and Sam Paganini.

As Ben Sims own biography puts it, 'if you know techno, you know Ben Sims'. The simple truth behind this statement says it all about a DJ and producer whose standing, as one of the scenes leading exponents, appears to be as evergreen and unshakable as it ever has been in his long an illustrious career. It was then with great pride and much excitement that Drumcode released Bens Smoke & Mirrors album in 2011; very much a discography highlight for Drumcode and one of the most significant releases of the year for many others within the techno scene. An album in the true sense of the word, Smoke & Mirrors drew critical acclaim from all corners, not least for
the retro-future vision with which Sims lays out his blueprint for what techno can and should be; proving to those that needed reassurance that Ben Sims is the jack-master of the techno trade.
With the irresistible force of his recent contributions to the label still reverberating strongly throughout all parts of techno and beyond, Drumcode welcome back Ben Sims for another inspirational and incendiary EP of his trademark grooves. Beginning where Bens Smoke & Mirrors album left off, Air Rage EP has Sims on serious underground form; laying down punishing party grooves of abrasive, rolling rhythms while making space for splashes of full-force
funk and enchanting melodic moments. Sims intuitively daring use of these contrasting energies is the source of this EPs intoxicating appeal with examples evident within all four tracks. Whether
it is the looping robotic bleeps on The Parade; the funked-up electro stomp of Air Rage; the otherworldly strings in Move In Time or the harmonic bell chimes within Machine Funk.

SIAMESE

HouseDeepTechLimitedTechnoTechno

The project Adriatique is approaching its 10th anniversary, but to just call it a project would be a fierce understatement. Adriatique is friendship; creativity; compromise; being together for days on end; experiencing things together for the first time; birth; rebirth; joy and pain; but above all, Adriatique is music.

So, in order to commemorate these past 10 years, Adriatique bring you “X”.

Not only does this record celebrate 10 years of Adriatique; It is simultaneously catalogue number 10 on their very own “Siamese” imprint, coincidentally occurring a decade after their consortium. Fate is a peculiar fellow, but he is smiling.

This release comes on limited purble marbled vinyl!
