On 'BAS008' Bassiani welcome Voiski and his uplifting take on techno. Cascading snares, dreamy melodies and a good dose of cosmically charged sounds make "Our Brilliant Future" a beautifully crafted ode to hope. The motive comes in many facets: starting off with "Sit Down Next To Me" and it's tightly knit melody, retrospective amalgamates with futurism. Then we dive into the roaring cave of "Chasing Shadows", where the bass is deep and the synths cheeky. "TearSystem" stays true to it's name: rave romanticism in it's crystallized form. Fading out on "Your Heart Starts To Race" Voiski closes on a distant note, nevertheless attuned with the cosmic groove.

Kloke returns to SUS after last year's Sea Levels EP with a 12" of three tracks primed for adventurous DJs.
Kloke's two new originals, "P.H.O.N.E." and "Rhythm #1", both feature tribal percussion and high-velocity rhythms combined with a roughshod, deep style of sound design.
On the b-side, iconic Chicago DJ/Producer Hieroglyphic Being remixes "P.H.O.N.E." with an extended trackx built for the dancefloor; a hypnotic take on classic acid techno.
SUS009 was mastered and cut by long-time UK engineer Denis Blackham.

Heavy-weather, beyond-good-and-evil soundsystem poetics, channelling raw and rootical techno, Isolationist abstraction, and dub at its most turbulent and raw-nerved and space-time-warping. New worlds ahead... Equal parts tuff, tail-thrashing dancehall pressure - see 'Hell Dub' - and art-of-darkness ambience and introspection, culminating in the slow-burning, third-eye-opening 23-minute dreamweapon, 'Vertigo'. Part of the Young Echo crew, Ossia embodies the best tradition of Bristol underground music in that he doesn't pay much mind to tradition, just does his own thing. Yes, Devil's Dance shares DNA with those sullen masterpieces we will always associate with the city, from blunted 90s street-soul/hip-hop to sub-loaded dubstep - but like his forebears Ossia is ultimately a mongrel breed, drawing from his own, very contemporary and idiosyncratic well of influences: grime, jazz, steppers, dub, post-punk and industrial abrasion, concrète minimalism... Devil's Dance could easily be not just a forbidding, but a suffocating proposition. But even at its most angst-ridden it feels lithe and aerodynamic, its darker impulses both intensified, and offset, by a pure soundboy's delight in detail and colour and higher dancefloor mechanics. The music pulses with energy, a fever to communicate...and Raki Singh (violin), Jasmine (vocals) and Ollie Moore (saxophone) add vivid flesh-tone to the punishing, plasmic electronics. The record was mixed at an infamous, subterranean Bristolian recording studio, using an arsenal of spring and plate reverbs, modded pedals, tape-delays and compressors: systems of black magic crucial to the album's intense presence and physicality and carefully modulated dread. In the end what we are witnessing, and experiencing vicariously, is a purging, an exorcism: find the devil, dance with the devil... and then chase, chase, chase him out of the earth

Foremost international techno outlet Drumcode is delighted to announce the release of its next full-length album, 'Satellite', by enduring Italian techno talent Sam Paganini.
Though he has been active since the mid nineties, recent years have been hugely successful for Sam, with searing techno EPs coming on revered labels such as Riche Hawtin's Plus8, Sven Vath's Cocoon and of course, Adam Beyer's Drumcode. In his time he has been responsible for underground hits like 'Zoe', 'Polyester' and 'Fire In My Arms', all of which demonstrate his dynamic understanding of sexy, dark and hypnotic techno grooves and at the same time have earned him plenty of great Beatport chart positions as well as respect from the best in the game.
Incredibly, 'Satellite' is Sam's first full-length album. Informed by his DJ gigs at legendary places like Berghain in Berlin and Cielo in New York, the album starts with a dystopian bit of sonic scene setting, as if a space ship is charging up ready to take off.

Prolific imprint Scuffed Recordings make their first foray into vinyl with a quartet of signature tracks from their back catalogue that have been already causing damage on the dancefloor.
Detroit oddball Marshall Applewhite opens proceedings with "Destroy The Silence", a frenzied mass of stripped down electro-percussion that does exactly what its title says. Japanese producer Naco counters this energy with his gritty slow building tech-house mutation, OIZB. On the flip, Glances' Bulwark combines ethereal vocals with glitchy, pulsating percussion and Chungo closes out the release with the tribal, UK techno channeling roller Shuka.

Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe's incredible experiments with Harry Bertoia's sound sculptures are here documented on this beautiful new edition for Demdike Stare's DDS imprint, coinciding with his appearance on the cover of this months issue of The Wire magazine.
Lowe is something of a polymath; having started out as part of Math Rock outfit 90 day men and doom metal trio Om, he progressed to forge his own solo work (often under the Lichens moniker), as well as a whole slew of collaborations including work with Johann Johannsson on scoring both Arrival and Sicario, an acclaimed album with Ariel Kalma for RVNG Intl's FRKWYS series, plus active involvement in site specific video art and sound installations. His most recent work under his own name has seen him release diverse music for Type, Latency, More Than Human and, of course DDS - who have with this album presented what might just be the most beautiful Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe artefact thus far.
In 2016 Lowe was commissioned by New York's museum of Arts and Design to contribute to a Harry Bertoia exhibition, which he undertook alongside video director Johann Rashid. He was asked to create sound recordings with Sonambient sculptures; metal rods and gongs that produce highly distinct, resonant sounds when struck, brushed or touched. Beginning in 1968, Bertoia set up an eighteenth-century stone barn on his property in Barto, Pennsylvania, to house these sculptures and from which he would go on to record works for his highly collectable Sonambient label, as recently documented on Important Records' breathtaking box set and reissue series. Lowe was given full access to the barn, beautifully filmed footage of which can be found on youtube.
Lowe's work with these sculptures is quite unlike anything you might have heard from those original Bertoia recordings. Instead of serendipitous improvisation, Lowe weaves his way through the sculptures on a path that was mapped out in advance, imbuing them with a more 'composed' and arranged feel. As well as that familiar and distinct sound palette, he subtly manipulates and feeds in vocal layers that take proceedings into ever more ethereal and haunting dimensions.

So yes, 2013 certainly is the year Skudge opens up the vaults! Right on the tail of our recent Irie EP comes Cliff Lothar's new record.
After his wonderful entry for the Viewlexx camp earlier this year, our friend comes clean with a somewhat darker take on his trade sound. With "Murked Out", we're reminded of "Dro Friday", but the halloween version. "Tangaxuan II" is equally funky but dwells further in a deep and bleepy fashion that invokes the early Warp catalogue spirit while "Audiomess" even enhances that felling, adding an eerie edge familiar to the more continental Bunker rooster.
Concluding this four tracker comes the mostly gruesome "Darkhole Gloryroom" that uses high contrast to convey schizophrenic moves on the dance floor, a perfect testimony to what Skudge stands for after a year of unusual journeys.

The record sleeve of Dark Loops was injected with carbon powder by the artists. Please be aware of this on purchase and handling of the record and inlays.
Dark Loops is the third instance of Carbon Theater, an ongoing research project by the Institute of Incongruous Translation (Natascha Sadr Haghighian and Ashkan Sepahvand). As the other acts in the series, Dark Loops unfolds from a found site, the abandoned Fort Walem, which was now turned into a bat habitat. The field recordings and synthesised loops on the record further investigate the discrepancies between sensing and knowing and challenge the anthropocentric narratives within current discussions on planetary climate change.

called OutpostLive to tell the tale of the Goddess Tacita, the female personification of eternal silence.
The myth was told for the first time by Ovid. Lala (which in Greek means to speak) was a beautiful girl courted by Jupiter, who punished her for having revealed their romance to his sister. She had her tongue cut off by lightning and was condemned to silence forever. Then she was sent to the kingdom of the Underworld accompanied by Mercury. OutpostLive reenacts this ancient Roman myth and guides us on an enchanting and magical journey to the Underworld.
"Fiore Bianco" evokes the voices of dead souls arising from the obscure abysses, broken only by some pads and harmonies. Norbak, on the other hand, brings a brief glimmer of light into Tacita's underground journey with its strident and brilliant sounds, a metaphor for Jupiter's bolt lightning. The plot then thickens with "Sacri Misteri", with its insistent bass channeling Tacita into a vortex of flames.
The escape route is finally offered by Ness, who brings Tacita back to the surface. The journey ends on an ethereal note, thanks to repeated sounds and rhythms, suspended between earth and sky.

NOTE:
The black 12" vinyl, 140 grams, is presented inside a matte black and scratch-resistant cover that frontally presents an illustration hand-made by the Italian artist Roberto Mulliri which through Indian Ink technique depicts a scene taken from the myth of the Tacita Muta, the artwork is inspired by the music contained within the vinyl. On the back of the cover there are tracklist, the credits, the label's motto and the Lykos Records logo placed centrally below.

Public Release once again plunges into the deep well of dance music talent it's hometown of San Francisco has long fostered for Moon Replacement, the debut single by Anderson Chase, two originals wrapped around a couple remixes of its titular track.
Clocking in at over eight minutes, “Moon Replacement” is a tense, drawn-out affair. It coaxes you onto the dancefloor with hardedged drums that slap with a metallic clang, a steely bass throb that defines its backbone, and spindly synth noodles that creep around the crust on top. Chase’s previous life as a punk and metal drummer seeps through; this is a tenacious house boogie that trundles along at that Goldilocks BPM of 118, fast enough to snap you to attention, slow enough that you don’t lose stamina as you give into the groove.
Japanese house producer Gonno, known for his ability to graft scalpel-sharp minimal techno loops onto out-there, mindexpanding arrangements, puts his own spin on the song for the A2 slot.
He darkens the mood while zapping it with a static charge to quicken its pace. On the reverse is Mark E’s take, which goes in the opposite direction, applying some heat so the square structure’s joins start to melt, wiggle, wobble. The bottom is still stocky, a molten mass of heavy-duty bass energy, but the melody that dances around the top is airier and lighter, glints of sunshine through storm clouds.
And then “Between Us” arrives to stick the landing, get us back to where we started. Like “Moon Replacement,” it’s a blocky foot-stomper that directs you forward with its tireless rhythm section, though this time with an even longer shadow cast behind it.

Maceo Plex finally serves up a new single that has been huge for him in recent months: it comes from hotly tipped Irish pair Brame & Hamo with a remix from techno and electro specialist Steffi.
Brame & Hamo are new school, underground stars who can hold down intimate Berlin basements, festival main stages and large scale clubs with equal skill. They deal in house, acid, breaks and techno that is big on character and has come on their own eponymous label, amongst others. Here they link with Anthony Acid for a new single, which is only their second outside their own label since 2016, following as it does the hugely well received Feel My Bicep release, as well as the recent remix for Ninja Tune’s Counter Records imprint.
The fantastic and anthemic ‘It’s Time To' is a throwback acid house jam with dark, looped vocals that get you in a trance.
The serrated 303 is gritty and the punchy drums cannot fail to work the floor into a sweaty, writhing mass.
Steffi has long been an underground star with releases on Ostgut Ton and her own Klakson marking her out as one of house, techno and electro’s most atmospheric and assured artists.
Here she remixes the original into a rugged and propulsive house cut with soulful Detroit synths and melancholic chords that make for an emotional and powerful classic.
... This is a monstrous new package from Ellum Audio and another superb offering from this unstoppable duo.

P.E.A.R.L. is launching the fifteenth installment of his Falling Ethics series with two versions of a serious club destroyer that has been released on the label back in the early days of Falling Ethics. Sorrows has been reflipped to a 2018 version that is sounding modern, large and in sync with the current aesthetics in techno music. While this version can be located on the B-side, on the A-side we find a larger than life CUB version (Karl O'Conner & Simon Shreeve) that will definitely turn some heads over the next few months. Reworking classics is not always needed but in this case, it's a welcome addition completely in harmony with the times.

With EXHIBITION's second performance, RICO PUESTEL proudly presents the new series-within-the-series "SOLLING", conceptually fulfilling the "triad of A" throughout the canvas of this record: Acid, analogicity and anachronisms.
After recently telling a vast and mesmerizing story on Adana Twins' TAU label, RICO PUESTEL now immerses into his defining habitat roots and creates the long-planned first soundtrack chapter of SOLLING: A central German uplands area in Lower Saxony, spreading into the North of Hesse, shaped by mixed forests, its rural imprinting, a widespread range of regionally varyiing cultural idiosyncrasies and a century-extending history, including the shattering throughout the welters of the Thirty Years' War.
Being the first of several planned chapters, pre-production mostly takes place there while the music is traversed by sound recorded in that area, leading to an existence irreversibly connected to its birthplace.
The impetuous opener "Tilly", characterizing the essence of Johann T'Serclaes von Tilly who commanded the Catholic League's forces in the Thirty Years' War, overrunning the SOLLING throughout 1624 and 1625, culminates in one retro-futuristic affair, building into a overwhelming storm of percussion tapestry and intertwining layers of acid.
The A2 follow-up "Clava" takes the initial impetus to a superior level, overriding itself with an unpredictable enigma-melody after laying the foundation of a high-density groove architecture - all of this representing the almost intangible chasms of a unicum street and its geographical expanse, filled with Rico's far-reaching primordial retrospections, seemingly connecting several contingent coordinates of mysterious happenings over two decades while anticipating the future.
Ultimately, the AA-flipside delivers the groundbreaking SOLLING composition "Pro Foreste Sulgo", presenting an ancient-like struggle of dark and light as told by the principles of nature with two melodic themes, circling around themselves, bound to collide and meld like atoms - all placed within the treetops, shaken by the wind, overlooking a future that might already has been...

After 3 hugely successful singles, veteran Spanish producer, Tensal will deliver his first full length later this year on Soma. As we build toward this momentous occasion, four hard hitting and idiosyncratic tracks come courtesy of Tensal as he drops The Judgement EP.
Marenga opens the EP in perfect Tensal style. A unique and well constructed sequence sits atop pervasive kicks, utilising subtle vocals and layered percussion to work the groove. 1 9 9 4 O N harks to tougher times with huge broken kick patterns, twisted synths elements and a darker vibe throughout. Things get deeper and more tripped out with Fano. Here, a more hypnotised & narcotic feeling is in effect with percussive and synth elements washing in and out of the mix whilst still retaining a solid drive. Delafix closes out the EP bringing together Tensal s creative range under one track. The hypnotic tripped out vibe is prevalent throughout as vigorous drum workouts keep things at a fairly fast pace.
Tensal is undeniably one of modern Techno s most well respected and innovative producers and one that continues to add to his already prodigious catalogue.

In comes the debut release from Robert James' Body Movement label. Inspired by his party of the same name, Rob takes charge of the label's first EP with three brand new cuts that showcase his deep appreciation of electronic music, plus a remix from underground hero Voigtmann. 'Revenge Of The Wasp' kicks things off, channeling mid-nineties electro techno a la Drexciya, with Rob crafting a mesmerising journey into the cosmos. 'Life Grooves' is a party starter, with its pumping beats and booming bassline progressing into dreamy techno atmospherics. On the flip we have the aptly-titled 'Break Mode' with its insistent break loop supporting soft, swirling pads, solemn bass and a mysterious vocal clip. Lastly, Voigtmann's remix of 'Break Mode' softens the overall feel of the track, cultivating a smoother, more laid back aura.
