As the winter solstice approaches and the fool's journey comes to a close, Chapter 24 marks its first two years of great releases with a 24th EP. This symbolic offering is a vinyl-only package from Masaya, with an Edition by her close friend and frequent b2b DJ partner Ripperton.


Masaya's entire life is music and this really shines through across the four cuts served up by the Swiss-Chilean artist. As boss of her own label Mina Records, she is a real underground star who has been responsible for numerous great releases over the last ten years.


'Borderline' kicks things off and is nine minutes of spine-tingling deep house music with haunting vocals and wispy autumnal synths. Subtle and seductive, it is a killer opener to the EP. 'Picture' is then just as emotive and spiritual, with tender string sweeps and rolling rubbery beats mixed in with warm finger clicks to make for a hugely atmospheric house groove. The final original is 'Flow of Tears', which is again cavernous and deep, its sombre chords draped over gentle drums with whispered vocals that really mark it out as an evocative listen.


Ripperton is the long time deep house star from Switzerland who runs his own Tamed Musiq and has a fine discography, releasing on the likes of Innervisions, Maeve and more. His version of 'Flow of Tears' captures the sound of futuristic house and techno in 2016. It is more direct and driven, with corrugated drums and loose limbed percussion lulling you into his autumnal groove.

Perc's third album 'Bitter Music' pushed his sound to further extremes than ever before when released in April of this year, winning widespread acclaim and launching a worldwide tour to support it. Mihail P (Seventh Sign, Verdant Recordings) steps up for the third release on Distant Worlds. 4 tracks of 90s-indebted soulful, emotive, reverb soaked deep techno. Clearly influenced by the likes of Dan Curtin, Luke Slater and Stasis, Mihail's sound is the perfect fit for Distant Worlds' particular branch of interstellar techno. As much for the mind as for the feet, this EP features beautiful pads and some wall-shaking bass guaranteed to transport the dancefloor to another dimension. Manchester's techno alchemist and master of the Roland TR-808, the enigmatic MR.RAW, debuting MANCDETROIT 12' on WIN or LOOSE Records straight outta Toronto CA! Long term nightclub shaman on the Northwest of England circuit, Raw served time in Rotterdam's early 90s gabba circles before returning back to Manchester to twist brain's n bodies with his wild blend of freestyle techno. Raw's witnessed trends in production go from hardware to soft and back again but he's never strayed from a solid rack mount set up based solely around the TR-808. With a few added choice fx processors Raw's style is loose'n'live and captures a pure spirit rarely exercised by today's pacified youth.
"Perseus Dance" sounds like the kind of shit the great Ron Hardy would jam on, with two copies, for hours. Inflicting a sherm-stick flavored mind-blast to the floor that may have indeed caused the good man to blush, we find percolating 808 percussion woven together with a mystic, fizzing lead line and twangy analogue artifacts. Darkside acid dragged wailing and whining from Rusholmes drains.
Flip and we have "Hard On": a twisted x-rated porno horror jam. Raw's rapid-fire double-speed drum loops firing away while a plethora of abhorrent vox and coital sounds converge onto the track. A total wrecking ball of filth and hellish distortion which just smolders away in the basement of some sadistic nightclub like a rotten but highly intoxicating fungus ready to switch on any passing freaks.

Alessandro Di Maria aka Sossa is another italian resident dj of Circoloco in Ibiza.

His track Toga' is what we call a trip, ranging from minimal beats to deep pads and chords.
Certainly this one makes the right job in the warm up!

An object resists changing its state of motion with inertia. What pushes back must then be even more vigorous in order to create a uid movement. An example of the force that embodies this dynamic can be found clearly on the appropriately titled Inertia, Aiken's much anticipated return to Chronicle. The Spanish artist has been spending years honing his craft, focusing on sharp, distinct sounds that create a pure sense of kinetic energy. The title track of
the EP bolsters a erce disarray of carefully (de)constructed atonal synthwork and a rhythm section that is set to detonate. It is then followed by 'Axial', a track that stays as true to modular miscalculations as it does to stripped down techno, combining both in a subliminal cessation of sanity. However Aiken isn't done there. He continues with 'Magnetism', which throws a brick in the glass of conventionality with its earth-shaking layers of textured momentum. Phased pads then wash over 'Soul Drama', bringing the entire experience

to an emotionally laced denouement. After the potency of his last record on Chronicle as well as his releases on imprints such as his own label Timeline and the Spanish powerhouse Semantica, Inertia marks a de nitive step forward for an already exceptionally de ned artist.

Petroleum, Cement, Steel and Plastic. (Erdeol, Zement, Stahl, Kunststoff) are four symbols of the unstoppable progress of the mankind. The four tracks from the new vinyl release on Mechanical Thoughts reflect the feeling of unstoppable, uncontrollable and in the same time the anxiety feeling of a dystopic future.

Recovering from the gray decay of the winter here in Berlin, we are more than ready to push forward farther into the future. In order to do so the powers at Chronicle have aligned a new musical offering to test the palate of those who know, and those who care. We are pleased to present six tracks from the prolific Arnaud le Texier, who has made waves for years with his Children of Tomorrow imprint and renowned taste. From cosmic interludes to heavy hitting transcendence, Arnaud manages to showcase all sides of his production skills as they translate into a compelling and emotive narrative. Among them stands a tribute to one who was lost along the way that we simply do not want to forget. Only rarely in this life do we stand witness to gures that make a true impression, an imprint that continues to leave a mark long after the original has passed. Max_M was one of these gures, and it is through his music and immensely dignified curatorial prowess that his legacy will live on. Arnaud's poignant tribute stands as a personal note amongst an EP full of forceful techno suitable for deep space exploration.

Artefakt come from the deepest branch of techno. The partnership of Robin Koek (Cyspe) and Nick Lapien (Metropolis, Rhine) have explored subterranean caverns, dense forests and unknown lands on labels like Prologue, Field and Delsin and their latest three track expedition on DSC continues that journey into the beyond. "Raid" is a near nine minute odyssey, a trip into shimmering cymbals, acid growls, placid lakes and ritualistic rhythms. The flip finds a breaking in the dense foliage: "The Radiant City", a sanctuary of soaring strings, soothing pads and entrancing harmonies. "Lichtspiel" writes a different tale. Muted tones are ruffled by an industrial edge, the hand of man and the rise of the machine blended with a natural and organic warmth. A 12" rooted in the undisturbed and unspoilt lands of the ancient.

Consider this a warning - tearing out of 2015 on the gale of our compilation with the legendary duo of Jeroen Search and Dimi Angeli´s carrying us on their winds into 2016, Chronicle steps into the eye of the hurricane for its second release this year, by the mighty Mike Storm. A xture in the Dutch techno scene since the late '90s, it was when Michael de Winde moved to hardware live sets that he found his true inspiration, continuing to this day
to use only analogue equipment in his restless search for techno perfection. Consistently released since 2012, initially on Subsist, a label notable for
early work of SHXCXCHCXSH and Stanislav Tolkachev, he then moved on
to respected underground sources such as Ars Mechanica, Orbis Records, and Belief System, where he released his 2014 album 'Pulsars'. Supported by Mills, A&S, Arnaud Le Texier, Tadeo, Antigone, and others, we are proud to give Mike Storm the twelfth entry in the series with 'Where the WolvesCome From'.

It begins 'At Certain Points', channeling the jazzy mid-2000s Mills of his most abstract era with subtle string swells, cosmic bleep patterns and equally subtle Detroit-style percussion lls. 'The Day We See' moves into morning, with its complex, melodic bass gures and shimmering strings taking
the nocturnal intro into morning following a tense lead line that enters.
Again referencing Detroit but falling closer to the dystopian feelings of contemporary Terrence Dixon, 'New Light' is an exercise in tension between taught drum lines, dissonant keyboards, and a metallic sequence pattern. Stripping down for the hunt, the title track stalks more aggressively, razor- sharp hats and growling bass accelerating as the predator closes in on its prey, an eerie forest wind bringing terror in its path until the final struggle.

After a row of releases over the last 5 years (from Suara to Circle Music, Stir 15, Houseworx, Save Room Records and many more) connector Franksen returns with his friends to TREIBJAGD RECORDS: second time around as he released a vinyl EP here last year with dub-techno legend D. Diggler.

The project which was started back in 2009 by the two Danish producers, Dennis Bøg better known as Resoe, owner of Baum Records and its off shoot Baum Limited Picture Edition, and Kenneth Christiansen owner of Echocord Records. Each of their releases move into different realms of Techno,and have gained support from the upper echelons of dance music, from the likes of Rodhad, Levon Vincent, and Dario Zenker.

A crawling filtered synth opens '009A', murky kick drums and syncopated high-hats join it, to create a long winding warehouse melody, these are then exchanged for the hazy sounds of white noise of '009B' packed with cold eerie drones, that are met by charged hums that fizz away and bring the release to a close.

The third Eclectic Limited delivery is landing directly from Osaka! 3 fantastic tracks by Ryuji Takeuchi with his powerful groove full of explosive kicks and aggressive basslines. To finish this beautiful EP an exciting LAG remix with its unmistakable groove that always set off the dance floor.

R&S welcomes Acid Mondays for a 12" of lysergic house music that reaches far into the outer cosmos.
Formed "somewhere in the 5th dimension' Acid Mondays is the cosmic coalition of fellow psychonauts Negghead (Dan Ward) and Lex Wolf (Alex Wolfenden).

Repeated transformative visits to Ibiza culminated in landing regular slots at Circoloco where they have been testing this tune in the dance all Summer long.

'Universal Rhythm', their latest interstellar dispatch and debut on R&S is their finest work to date. An anthemic paean to the cosmos that features an impassioned spoken word missive from shamanistic MC Shovell, impressively recorded in a single take, making the case for the universality of experience and oneness of all beings.

Latin rhythms fuse with a driving Fender Rhodes lick (provided by JD73) and percolating cow bells to hypnotic effect. This calls to mind a combination of classic Carl Craig and Villalobos at his most playful. R&S new signing The Maghreban supplies a killer dubbed out take on the original that strips away the heavy kicks and pumps up the percussion, hurtling the synth pads to the fore that comes on like John Carpenter peaking on MDMA.

Approaching the release of a new ASC LP, we are always lucky to have an excess amount of tunes for the project. Together with ASC, we strive to create a cohesive sonic narrative with each LP. Astral Perception contains four immense tunes that were produced for the Astral Projection project, but ultimately were unable to fit amongst the Astral Projection story. These pieces are of the same high quality as the LP tracks, so we wanted to ensure they were put out into the world to compliment the LP. Arced is a contorted re imagining of Arc from The Farthest Reaches, while Inner Space is a peak time Grey Area infused Techno floor tune, Ring System is a rhythmic workout that acts as a perfect linking tool for adventurous DJ's, and Event Horizon recalls ASC's past work in a gliding depth charge style.

Our boss Claude VonStroke is the busiest guy we know. When he's not traveling the world or curating an event, he's in the studio every day putting in hours upon hours, relentless in perfecting his craft. He's had a slew of hits the past couple years in the form of remixes and collaborations, and now with the 'Walay (My Bae)' EP, Claude gets back to some inventive and somewhat 'out of the box' solo works.

The title song leads with a melodic riff and an funky vocal that sounds like a defective cyborg is proclaiming love for his partner, 'Walay.' This quasi-human uses the slang 'My Bae' to try and pass for human and we almost believe in his passion. The sound harkens back to old classic rave tracks but also pushes very modern production techniques.

On the flip, 'Raw Nerve' is an emotional exploration in both sounds and lyrics. A melancholy VonStroke dives deep into his insecurities and fears with sonically mutated lyrics like 'I'm feeling so sad, I'm feeling real bad today. When I see you on the street I dont want to compete.' You can feel the social instability oozing out of the vocal only to come back at the close with a violently hard bassline embodying the personal angst and frustration that goes along with not 'fitting in.'

It is wise to take time and effort to organize the experiment properly to ensure that the right type of data, and enough of it, is available to answer the questions of interest as clearly and efficiently as possible. An experiment deliberately imposes a treatment on a group of objects or subjects in the interest of observing the response.

A control group is used as a baseline measure. The control group is identical to all other items or subjects that you are examining with the exception that it does not receive the treatment or the experimental manipulation that the treatment group receives.

An experiment that yields clear and systematic differences among the results of the test takers is biased.

New York's DJ Spider returns to Rekids with four murky vinyl-only cuts this November. A highly respected label owner, DJ Spider is well known for helming esteemed imprints like Plan B, Sub Level Sounds and BTU music. As a producer he has made appearances on the likes of The Trilogy Tapes, BleeD, KilleKill and Vanguard Sound!, whilst last year saw him make his debut on Rekids. Returning to the imprint, the American artist follows DJ Deep, Jon Hester and FBK for the fourth outing in the Rekids Special Projects vinyl series. Opening with 'Mobius Strip Revisited', a squelching bass line and rolling percussive loops underpin ethereal pads and airy atmospheres before an extended keyboard solo plays over inspired chord progressions and a grooved low-end to give 'Antikythera Mechanism Part 2' an improvised feel. On the flip we have 'Sub-Atomic Vibrations', providing a series of irresistible lead synth melodies and crunchy drum compositions followed by 'Struggles With Phantoms', an unrelenting rhythm section lays the foundation for an evolving mid-range giving the release a stylish close.

Gab Rhome is back on All Day I Dream with, believe it or not, his very first solo release. We first encountered our bowtie wearing friend via his collaboration with Maher Daniel way back in the label's catalogue. He dropped by again last summer as one of the tracks on our annual Summer Sampler release with 'Venus'. It rocked the Beatport Deep House chart for months. Continuing in that vein we find two wonky fun summery house tunes with rolling grooves, tinkling pianos, glassy sounds and memorable melodies...which is fun to say by the way...go on, say it. Say it out loud right now on your plane journey, in the coffee shop, hotel room or in bed with your cat... Words and music to make you smile.

Over the course of four unforgettable EPs released on Throne of Blood since 2013, Hardway Brother Sean Johnston has cultivated a broad international following for his singular brand of dancefloor fodder.

Best known as one half of legendary DJ team A Love From Outer Space alongside the one-and-only Andrew Weatherall, Johnston's roots in the dance music scene include a clutch of leftfield 90's era bangers on labels like Sabres of Paradise and Flashcomm. Beyond his original output, Johnston has also remixed the likes of Man Power, The Asphodells, Museum Of Love, Split Secs, Clandestino and many more.

The Laser EP is peaktime Hardway Bros business. 'Friedman Feedback Loop Revision' (a nod to TOB boss James Friedman's highly-valued opinions) is a masterclass in efficient simplicity, elevating a few basic loops into an exhilarating 8 minute monster. 'The Laser' rounds out the a- side with a classic electro rhythm/bass/vocal sample combo could easily have landed in retro territory. Instead, Hardway Bros easily flips a clutch of oldschool tricks into an utterly modern execution. The b-side finds TOB's label manager Max Pask injecting 'Friedman Feedback Loop Revision' with his love for all things analog and Italo. With his impressive collection of synths brought to life by Chinatown Records' Brennan Green, the song is transformed into an epic set- closer that's already devasting dancefloors like Berlin's Panorama Bar. The EP closes with 'Afro Sirene,' a midtempo groover with melodic arpeggios built for the discerning DJ's warm-up set.

VRV002 evolves from where Cored (VRV001) left off. The newly established Raíz run label is an extension of the Droid Behavior strong hold out of Los Angeles. After nearly a decade behind the controls, in both studio and on the road, Raíz emerges with their refined sound made up of equal parts groove and purpose. This three tracker takes use of elements from classic synthizers and out board gear sequenced and updated for the current and beyond. Road tested, these dance floor epics are ready for mass consumption. A the record unfolds, the artists shed old skin and solidify the quality and pace of things to come.

The VRV label pushes its sound further with its 6th vinyl release, featuring Rai´z. Opener Coruscate' stuns with brilliant energy designed to meet any set's intensity requirements. The fip side starts with Inner Sense,' a stripped-down, claustrophobic drive somewhere between apprehension and urgency. Primeval' pulls the layers back even further, for an aggressive track that's reminiscent of techno's drum-driven tribal era. All tracks are primed for cutting edge techno DJs. Pushing the exploration of concept and expression with the VRV circle, this release features artwork by Rai´z family member Vanessa Vargas.

Continuing the label's fast-paced release schedule, Raíz cooperate with social observer Permanent Hearbreak on the label's 4th vinyl release. The collaboration delves deep into human emotion over three movements, developing around the concept of personal absence. Side A1, With Out You, stretches a somber beat over 6 minutes with graceful overtones and powerful rhythm. Permanent Heartbreak speaks the message of With Out You over wet/dry percussion and heartsick chords. The energy and attitude turn up considerably on the flip side. With Me is a quick jaunt through semi-distorted clap and kick combinations of the jacking variety. Evolving analog style synth work builds the song until its climactic end. Wont Change Me takes cues from the darker Detroit / Kalamazoo sounds with Permanent Heartbreak's cold premonitions laid out over a driving sequence.

What attracts us to Chilean-born artist Ricardo Tobar is the notion of intersection, and although fusion is nothing new, as a concept it will always pull our heartstrings. Applying influence is amateur, we see this over and over again as we endure trend-driven appropriation of cultures the world over, but the epiphany when an artist finds true synergy between heritage and influence is a pivotal moment that the inspired will seek, even though it may take the length of one's career to behold. As pretentious as that may sound, it is precisely the hybrid born from that place of intersection that
excites us at the ESP Institute, the 'A plus B that equals 3'. We hear this in Ricardo's music — the Latin American instinct in his drums and percussion, sometimes tightly aligned with body movements and other times hauntingly mis-aligned and chaotic, intersects with his rock influence of ethereal (micro) melodies that slowly layer and layer until we're climbing a glorious (macro) wall of sound — but most importantly we hear where these different parts of his life come together to further create one unique voice. On both sides of his ESP Institute debut Liturgia, Tobar couples one pulsing dance-driven track with another atmospheric and immersive track, requiring we educate ourselves in the polarity of this language he's building, one that will expand to tell a broader story later this year with his debut album. Richy Ahmed has been steadily building his Four Thirty Two label over the last 12 months, introducing talented artists such as Jansons and Senzala to the fold. The imprint is fast becoming a 'go to' label for those who like their house music uncomplicated and hype free, ensuring the Chicago and Detroit house sound burns bright with new music indebted to the roots of the music.

After recent releases on Seth Troxler's Play It Say It label, and remixes for London Grammar, Richy brings the goods back to home on this latest Four Thirty Two release.

On 'Can't Stop Us', chunky stabs incessantly jab at meaty drums, as a female vocal loop rides on an opening filter. The good vibes build to a classic house piano crescendo that Marshall Jefferson would certainly approve of, as the soaring strings and evolving drums raise the rapturous mood to dizzying heights.

On the flip, the percussive disco drums of 'Dials Mavis' are bolstered by a booming sub bassline whilst deft keys and deep Rhodes chords deliver the infectious melody on this bumping jazz ride.

Uplifting, classy, mid 1990s Detroit school trained Techno EP.

Longtime Raíz collaborator Subversive makes his debut on Droid sister label VRV with Chainbreaker. Subversive has appeared previously on Historia y Violencia and Contruct Re-form (under the name Deception Plan w/ Voiski). This release for VRV is a collection of 3 tracks that reflect his focused, methodical programming. The title track stretches a deep, driving narrative over the course of 7 minutes, perfect for adding hypnotic breathing room to any set. The other side contains Intergalactic, a subtle and harmonic passage that sets the stage for A2, Telemore. Telomere begins with intense, brooding synth design that inevitably builds into heavy rhythm structures, providing the set's most driving dance sounds.

Subversive delivers a follow-up to last season's VRV release Chainbreaker, this time with two measured explorations of atmosphere and movement. The title track, Domestique, builds its drama around delayed synthesis, crafting a wash delayed environment that keeps a strong pace. Corosync emerges from a similar approach but intensifies the drum programming and strips away melodic layers. VRV label bosses Raíz rework Corosync with emphasis on thicker beat construction and synthesized psychedelia. All the tracks play on the best of the Detroit-Berlin connection and are primed for in-the-mix hypnosis.

EMEX is the emergent project of George Apergis, who is the owner of Modular Expansion records. His brand new release 'Hyperion' is a collaboration with Studio 416, a mysterious project which based in Berlin. 'Hyperion' is a hypnotic, minimal track with deep chords which progresses into darker territories while the dark strings come. The release includes 3 massive remixes. The first one has been remixed from Alexander Kowalski, who has created a perfect groovy tool with his unique classic style, an instant hit. The second remix is coming from the legendary Brian Sanhaji, who is making the track darker with his pumping futuristic version. The release is closing with the hard, minimal and melodic remix from Subjected of Vault Series, an artist from the upcoming Berlin techno scene.

After Oliver's and Fran's track "Echoes" already received the full remix treatment it is now the slow jazzy trip-hop ballad "I Might" that gets cured for the dancefloor.

The brainchild of Damian Lazarus, Crosstown Rebels has become home to many big hitters. Following on from his remix of Satori earlier this year, Riva Starr delivers his own, three-part tribal beast, ADVENTURES IN DRUMS.
MY AFRIKA opens up the EP with what would appear to be a tribal leader commanding your attention as the wobbly synths draw you in. As the heady bass kicks in you can't help but succumb to the rhythm. On EUROVOODOO, alien sounding synths are weaved amongst high hats luring you into a trance-like, hypnotic state. EL SONIDO leans towards a faster, flamenco style sound with tribal singing beckoning you to the dancefloor.
Riva Starr is the alias of East London based Stefano Miele. He has long been a staple in the club scene bringing dancefloor fire to some of the world's biggest stages, from Glastonbury to Japan's Fuji Rock. His credibility as an artist has led to collaborations with some of the industry's biggest players, including the likes of Green Velvet, as well as remixing for a number of high-profile musicians such as Wiley and London Grammar. Founder of Snatch!, 2017 was a monumental year for the label having reached its 100th release.

For over 4 years, David Coccagna aka Chaperone has been a constant part of Great Circles, as musician, art director, and muse. With Snapback Balaclava he once again fully embodies all of those roles, delivering three inspiring tracks, selecting his remixers with specific attention to their musical histories, and designing his cover art.

Across the A-side, Chaperone scrapes away at the grit - personal grit, the grit of anxiety, and Philly grit. These are meditations on loops, and loops on meditations. Each one appears on the surface to be a brief quote, but time dilation takes over, and minutes later we discover that Chaperone has welcomed us into and back out of his own healing moment.

Like Chaperone's P O N D release (GRCR-009), the B-side of Snapback Balaclava is a Great Circles extended family affair with a trio of diverse remixes that expose and exploit fragments of the chaos Chaperone so carefully contained.

Hitoshi Kojima (Thrive) reinterprets Pulse Feels Swells Beating with relentless syncopated rhythms and synth lines that hang like massive string drones. M//R lays down a signature percussion ensemble palette, zeroes in on otherwise peripheral elements of Grit Neglect, and then deftly navigates sea change with both. Matt Korvette and Sean McGuinness of Philly punk band Pissed Jeans open up the pit and finish the story, taking Femur Baseball Bat to its literal and brutal potential with monstrous vocals and kicks.

Partition', appropriately produced by label owner Deepak Sharma is gritty and raw, centered on being a powerfully effective DJ tool. It symbolizes a nod to the label's past and longevity but more so signals the future territory and modern world the imprint will reside in.

To commemorate the memorable occasion, one of techno's most authoritative, important and reputable producers, Developer of Modularz distinction has provided two heavy-duty remixes. Additionally, label staple Yuuki Sakai delivers an extraordinary remix to round out a historic release from Hidden Recordings.

The 19th edition of the Cryovac series is a moody stab at the heart of techno. It starts off with Disc Detroit's upliftingly melancholy 4/4 groover that transforms synth and turns percussion with a steady patience. Dutch Mike executes a smooth assault lead by a 303 harmony, backed by a heavy baseline and flanked by tricky programming that shifts cymbal formations. Vontell C. and his son Vontell F. sneak a dark vibe into the mix with a manic and excitable minimal ballad detuning and nodding out while detailing the burning of pretty things. Andy Garcia applies a minimalized Motown sound via strumming guitar, vintage vocals, and easy beat that rises and falls creating a serene phonic envirorment. Mechanisms Industries re-emerges from the Tape Studio to welcome the return of Hunt Patterns with 3 tracks of pure dark, gritty analog Techno. Lots of mechanical sequences for maximum peak time dance floor performance.


Mission Statement:
In the Tape Studio, one of the most essential processes is the combination of one sound with another, or with many others to produce a new, composite sound. This process known as additive synthesis, is made possible from a digital and analog source. This process can have two results: (1) a single, more complex output in which the various input signals have lost their individual identities while creating a new sound (more or less analogous to the blending of colors); or (2) a texture with various individual components occurring simultaneously but distinctively. Since 1996, the Mechanisms Industries Tape Studio has been guided by composer Fanon Flowers and several anonymous associates.

Jane Oak is a Paris-based DJ and techno producer. She grew up listening to Detroit pioneers; Jeff Mills, Robert Hood and Blake Baxter whom greatly influenced her work. In her first EP Low Pressure Zone with Caduceus records, she unveils a dark minimalistic universe, intensified by sharp beats and hypnotic melodies. An audacious EP for this young Belgian producer.

An intense introspection of sound deconstructionism and spacial dissonance presented in this 4 track (plus 2 lock grooves) EP entitled Nonharmonic Beautifault. The A Side is introduced with the track 'Blank Hand', a sludge fuelled walk into dusty audio bites and asthmatic rhythms, topped with screaming hoovers and TV static that at once builds up, collapses into beautiful cacophony. Leading us into the 'Body Molecule' - A rushing pad and sparkling percussion pinned to a rolling kick pattern that drives this track toward a central point of attacking synths and swarming soundscape. The run out locked groove features a deep distorted kick that loops into infinity. The other side starts with 'Angular Beautifault'. Acidic Rhythms and Buzz Saw Synths all washed together into a shimmering reverberated cavern that explodes with high powered clap patterns and bubbling 303 lines. Following this we have 'The Burin' - an uncompromising, high paced assault of power kicks and slanted percussion. Incessantly driving and unyielding towards the final lock groove of distorted sub loop. Nonharmonic Beautifault represents a shift in Positive Centre's work that aims beyond the delicate ambience into harder and darker sound territories.

pulsewidthmod,creates tracks that are very epic and driving in nature; all of which are recorded as live techno jams using Elektron's Dark Trinity and an MS20 mini. Her influences from Techno to Industrial, EBM, and Belgium New Beat leaves the listener with some menacing drums and a juxtaposition of both pleasing and disorienting melodies.


Serpentine Servitude explores the idea that perhaps the serpent in the garden of eden was really being humanities servant. Who was this creator character to dictate which fruit was ok for us to eat Who was he or they to say that if we ate the fruit we would be tainted and forever separate from divine love All this did was create the idea in our consciousness that we were tainted. It is of my personal belief that the idea that we are sinful is the original sin. This God character who created beings in his own image and then dictated how they were to live their life kind of sounds like an over controlling father. Where is mother in all this The album started with the track 'Original Sin' which was originally titled 'acid'. Seems somewhat appropriate since the concept of original sin seems to be a violation on humanities consciousness

As we step into 2018, DJ Bone brings another fresh fusion of funk and ferocity, Composed for deployment on his own Subject Detroit imprint, A Piece Of Beyond is a detailed and varied cross section of Bone's multidimensional musical mind, journeying along a strong spine of Detroit Techno in all its many shapes, colours and textures...

Futile Demise EP is an emotional and disconcerting journey through the mind of Finnish artist Juha Puupera¨. Drawing on influences from Norwegian black metal, UK sound system culture and Italian horror cinema of the 1970s, Gruth mixes dark and aggressive tones in his sonic palette. His production methods are often experimental and the style rarely fits into one box as it spans forward-thinking techno, black ambient and doom industrial.

With his EP, Gruth shapes Montevideo-based Tormenta Electrica label's first release. Of the four tracks featured, two are collaborations with the Finnish techno and ambient artist Ikola, known for his Etherwerks label, while the mysterious Helsinki-based violinist and sound designer KuJo contributes to the other two.

The third release on Blanksheet. Two originals by Hedrome accompanied by a classic Skudge remix.

Around 6 months after the success of the first Lateral Fragments vinyl, Pjotr G & Dubiosity return for part two. They continue where they left off, serving some deep, melodic vibes on Tabula Rasa and Outage. With Turmoil, the duo takes a bit of a different approach. The warm synths make way for some more hypnotic, raw vibes. Petter B delivers a truly grand remix for Turmoil, which is as fitting to Lateral Fragments as it is to your sets.

The fifth Seance release is courtesy of Spanish artist David Sierra also known as David Att. Running theaccomplished ATT Series label, he has made contributions elsewhere with remixes for Re:Axis' MonoclineRecords and HD Substance's SUB tl for example.London based veteran Arnaud Le Texier is the featured remixer and heads up the highly respected Children of Tomorrow label.

X/OZ presents their most awaited release yet: Fifth Force EP by Yagya. One of the most respected and embraced electronic music artist in Iceland since the early nineties, Yagya, a.k.a Sanasol, OZ Artist & Plastic now takes his sound further into a deeper, harder atmosphere. Known for beautiful deep minimal music with ambient soundscapes, this release speeds things up to 140 bpm while still maintaining the distinctive Yagya sound. As a special treat the EP includes a track written by Yagya, "Getting Closer To An Unknown Goal", originally released under the moniker "Rhythm of Snow" which later became the name of Yagya's first LP. The EP also includes the magical ambient track from his vintage collection "A Very Long Daydream". Fifth Force is not to be missed by any Yagya fans out there, new and old.

AnD label is back with AnD003, four techno cuts bringing the AnD attitude, raw infectious techno sounds incorporating their hardware approach to music making. Synthek is quite simply a master of deep hypnotic abstract techno. The Berlin based Italian has made plenty of waves since his first vinyl releases back in 2010 and has gone on to secure residencies at Tresor. The Hidden Dimension sees Luca retrace his account of entering hidden dimensions in musical form. Breathe and Surrender starts off proceedings in ambient bliss, setting the tone perfectly for Process Recall to introduce percussion and bass into the flow, before Duality takes centre stage and shows off Synthek's impeccable production skills in creating a serious deep slice of hypnotism. Harmony then takes things back down to earth and wraps up the story with a calming presence.

To celebrate Argot's fifth year of releases, we're launching a series of compilations boldly entitled 'American Dance Music". Argot's first ever various artists compilation continues its mission of showcasing homegrown talents, assembling a cast of familiar faces and welcome compatriots for the inaugural edition. 'American Dance Music Vol. 1 features the long anticipated return of the Black Madonna, who debuts her new collaborative project with Rupert Murray, Throwing Shapes. You'll recognize Argot stalwarts Savile, Olin, Todd Osborn, Maxine & Cleo, and Hippie Priest on the tracklist. We've also invited friends Noncompliant and Alex Falk to the fold. With future volumes we aspire to look even further afield and cast the spotlight on many diverse talents who make up American dance music. Much of 'American Dance Music Vol 1.' is aimed squarely at the dance floor, whether it's Todd Osborn's smooth and playful romp, '80s Are Here (Part 2)", or Noncompliant's acid tweaked ode to girls everywhere, 'Femslash". GlassTalk Records return, only 6 months after their debut release, with 'NxNW' from Kevin Arnemann. The Taped Artifact founder delivers a 4-track of icy minimal techno, highlighting his ear for the atmospheric.

'NxNW' EP is a confident statement of intent from the young 25-year-old producer. The deep understanding Kevin Arnemann has of the music he makes, born from the early introduction he got from his parents taking him to Awakenings Festival as an early teenager, is evident throughout this release. This EP is a welcome addition to GlassTalk's cannon of scheduled releases for the upcoming year.

After successful releases with labels such as Rawax, Taped Artifact & Thule Records, the two Icelandic techno titans bring us yet another intriguing release.A Ohm is best known for his releases on Force Inc with his long-time partner Exos and as an inventive techno DJ. Octal Industries, a veteran who has already gained a reputation within the IDM community under his Ruxpin pseudonym, returns yet again to his origins with collaborating with Ohm, a pioneer of the within the Icelandic scene. Bardo EP offers us four enigmatic & atmospheric techno tracks with intricate soundscapes and otherwordly chords. From the ethereal sounds of Bardo to the hard hitting Flow Machine,A this EP works as an essential choice for both the dancefloor as well as for dancefloor within your mind.

Orlando Voorn is back on Tarvisium Electronique with 'Secret Society,' a mysterious, obscure and psychedelic EP exuding the essence of Detroit techno. Side A of the vinyl features the title track in which Voorn melts the analogic rhythm with a spectral melodic pattern. Side B features two tracks; 'Playing for keeps,' a techno bolt of lightning bound straight for the dancefloor and 'Rush,' a track characterized by a mechanical, analogic and highly experimental sound.

To conclude the EP the label manager, Steve Lorenz, has composed a remix of 'Secret society' with an avant-garde fusion of minimal, acid and Detroit techno.

The legendary Moscow club Propaganda celebrates its 20th
Anniversary in April 2017 and launches a brand new record
label. The label will cover different styles of intelligent
electronic music, focusing on techno in the first year.

At the beginning there will be released music by great artists who had performances at Propaganda club in past. More artists will be involved and more excellent music will be released over time.

25 years of Distillery. That's a memory-laden, even historical event for underground and club culture. Or let's just say, culture in general. Getting into detail about the impact, this club had for the last quarter-century, would fill a couple pages, so let's just state the obvious real quick: Distillery has witnessed and co-determined socio-cultural change and progress in its past. Be it in its hometown Leipzig, basically building up the city's infrastructure for club culture over the years. Or be it on national or international scale. It carries a legacy of being one of the longest-serving and one of the most influential clubs in Germany. Period.

At the same time, it's focus always lies ahead, sensing trends, running a booking that intersects the big players with the up and coming of an underground electronic music scene. With the same spirit that supported DJ/producers on their way to international careers, it brings up new talent.

It is this spirit in particular that now finally led into the idea of mirroring the club's philosophy within the agenda of a record label. And as catalogue number one, unfolding a whole new chapter in Tille history, this anniversary compilation right here already nails what Distillery Records will be about. A conjunction of familiar faces and newcomers. A playground for residents, affiliates and just great artists that we like. An inclusive creative endeavour that covers a stylistic variety as broad as the club's open minded programming.

That said, a rundown of the tracklist will prove the point. You'll find 'Thursday Noon', the opening synth driven House-banger of young blood Napoleon Dynamite next to deep and spaced out Techno courtesy of Tille-resident Chris Manura. Lars Christian Müller's atmospheric trip 'No Future' next to Leipzig-scene-honcho Filburt who hands in a stomping and steaming cut, tinged by Electro-references. You'll find a joint venture by Daniel Stefanik and Mathias Kaden that progresses from Detroit leanings into an affectionate Piano finale, bass heavy breaks by Monkey Maffia, Acid-grounded Dub Techno by genre-heavy weight Joel Mull, a rather odd take on Techno by Georg Bigalke and the record's mightiest bounce in form of Héctor Oak's take-no-prisoners-approach to move a crowd as the conclusion of this compilation.

A compilation, by the way, that's accompanied by three digital only bonus tracks: Matthias Tanzmann's 'Salinas Thing' - a legit peaktime weapon flirting with contemporary tribal sounds, chord driven Deephouse by Thomas Stieler and the irresistibly grooving 'Da Silva' by another key figure of the Leipzig-scene: Sven Tasnadi.

And a compilation that's evidently curated with an all-killer-no-filler-agenda and the overall sensible approach to manifest the unique Distillery vibe on two plates of vinyl.

Following last year's Two Worlds EP, Nonuser takes Ctrls club focused sound to new heights, delivering rolling percussion alongside twisting, distorted leads and thundering bass lines.

For the label's ninth release, Deep'a & Biri's Black Crow Records revisits one that helped establish the label's direction back in the imprint's first year. BCR003, 'Insular Realms' by fellow Israeli producer Hakimonu, was praised by many including Resident Advisor, who said the EP proved 'his off-kilter take on techno and house is as vibrant and inviting as ever". Now in 2017, Deep'a & Biri have invited Mind Against, Luigi Tozzi and Echologist (aka dub techno veteran Brendon Moeller) to all rework the original version of Insular Realms for 2017. First up are Life & Death's Mind Against, with one of the Fognini brothers most direct techno productions yet, with a mid-track moment of calm before the intensity resumes. Luigi Tozzi, the Rome-based producer who has had previous outings on Dynamic Reflection and Dino Sabatini's Outis Music, contributes the second remix. Taking the lead from the original's more ethereal moments, his version is dreamy & almost wistful as it propels along its shaking rhythm. The B-side offers two takes from Brendon Moeller in his Echologist guise, with a Dub mix that twists the original into an acid-inflected track that slowly ratchets up the tension over its seven minutes, while the Reshape breaks things down into a churning rhythm peppered with flashes f off kilter sonic details. Completing the package is a digital-only new rework by Hakimonu himself - a slowed down, marching rhythm that foregrounds Insular Realms's jazz influences with the addition of live brass instrumentation that compliment things wonderfully.

A2 'Sux' is another epic piece of space electronics, tough drum machine programming and swirling sounds give the track an epic feel, mildly disorientating in the best possible way it's hard to believe this music originates from the South coast of the UK! B1 'Rein (Pt.1)' is mining a deeper, House infused sound. A sublime groove that tips it's hat to the masters with a serious bassline that just won't stop. Funky machine music of the highest order. The EP finishes with the absolute killer 'Peeano', a jam that flips Jazz on it's head in zero gravity, incessant piano lines drive us deep into the speaker stacks and it feels great. It's time again for another instalment of our HUB series and this time we hand the reigns over to none other than the extremely talented and multi-faceted Micheal Klein. Over the span of four mental tunes, Klein showcases his production prowess and style collaborating with Pan-Pot, Stephan Hinz, Amelie Lens and Roman Lindau. Not only is this HUB Michael's first collaborative EP but also his first time allowing anyone into his creative process, and in his own words, it was 'an exciting process with different approaches per artist' using FaceTime studio sessions, online collaborations, and in person encounters to create the final results. Klein's creative approach and control doesn't stop there as he also states, "I don't like to give creative tasks out of my hands. Therefore I shot the cover image myself on black and white film which I also developed to keep full control of the visual appearance of the overall release.'

Diving into the music we start with Klein's alliance with Pan-Pot on 'Haze Effect' and they waste no time getting to the point. Rapid fire percussion, spiraling synth lines and massive roars of bass are put on display resulting in a climactic race for dance floor destruction. Following suit, Klein teams up with Stephan Hinz on 'Far Sight' for an other worldly trek into the ethereal club moments as heavy drums carry twisted, heated sonics to distant heights. Flipping to the B-side we see Klein and Amelie Lens join forces for a tour-de-force display of loopy, psychedelic Techno on 'Blinding Light' where distorted drums and massive percussions hit slowly and lead the listener into hypnotic realms of dance exhilaration. Last and certainly not least is Klein's collaboration with his good friend and producer extraordinaire, Roman Lindau with their banger 'Secret Passenger' where classic House sounds collide with time-honored Techno production resulting in an absolutely stellar tune perfect for anywhere and anytime. In search for where the wild things are, Under Black Helmet and label boss Mørbeck have teamed up for the 12th release on Code Is Law. Sailing into the night on side A, Mørbeck delivers two trippy techno cuts, while Under Black Helmet is misbehaving on side B.

Seekers new album, this time 2 x 12" records , plus one special 7" included in the first 200 copies. All tracks were recorded in tape in 2017 somewhere in Europe :)

The inimitable Seth Troxler is next up on his own influential label with something of a milestone release: His 'Finally Physical EP' is a precursor to a compilation album, 'This Is Then', due in May this year.

'This Is Then' will be a typically unique celebration of Seth's 10 years as a major force in the Europe underground scene. It will draw a line in the sand on the first part of the Michigan born artist's recording career before he embarks on the next chapter. This preceding EP features four productions that were never properly released and they serve as a taster to the forthcoming compilation, with two originals and two remixes, one of which comes under Seth's lesser used alias, Thrill Cosby.

Up first is the brilliant 'Blackclap', which was used by Audion on his fabric mix in 2006. It's a twisted techno bumper with hiccuping synths and skewed pads bleeding out from a tightly programmed drum line. Warm chord smears bring a sense of soul to the druggy groove and ensure this one will work as well in an intimate club as it would on a larger stage. The deliciously dark 'Aggression' is a freaky late-night cut with minimal drums and alien lifeforms scurrying all over. It's trippy and otherworldy, with a rubbery groove carrying you deeper down the rabbit hole through a wonderfully weird spectrum of sound.

On the flip is a Thrill Cosby remix of Hearthrob's 'Signs' which Seth included on his Boogybytes mix from 2010. A pressure cooker of white noise, whispers, synth drones and tension building sequences it eventually breaks into a supple and slippery groove that makes you want to pop your body. Last but not least is the skeletal techno funk of Stefan Tretau's 'Chittagong' (Seth Troxler Jack Moves Remix). It's synthetic and abstract, with watery droplets and coarse claps wrapping round the restless drum line.

Inventive and original throughout, these four blistering tracks prove Seth Troxler has always had his own unique studio sound and serve as a great teaser for the upcoming compilation.

From the redwood forests of Big Sur and the industrial warehouses of downtown Los Angeles comes PFEIFFER, a label dedicated to quality and a diverse musical output. Pfeiffer follows in the footsteps of labels such as Svek and Kompakt, known for releasing a wide range of techno and house with a common thread of unique and unpredictable energy. Looking to bring this type of eclectic curation into the modern era, Pfeiffer draws inspiration from the raw simplicity and effortless magnetism of its namesake location on the central coast of California.

The sophomore release from Pfeiffer is here, and with it new sounds and styles from the label's anonymous lead producer. 'Forgot' kicks things off with an off kilter, swinging groove and clever zany synth work to match. Shifting basslines bounce under classic Robert Owens vocals, evolving into a huge riff over the course of the tune. On the flip, 'Feel The Love' follows suit with a sub-heavy, stomping groove, staying in the deeper end of the spectrum. A playful synth riff grows throughout the track, weaving throughout the combination of chopped vocals, analog sounds and hand played percussion.

The debut EP of new-born Junction Records begins with thorough exploration of driving and percussive techno sounds in the form of label head Cool Tiger's Warehouse for All'. From atmospheric, suspensive build-ups to warped vocals and glitchy fills, this intelligent production from Paris based producer is a sweet taster of things to come and stands proud and deserving as A1 on this release. Next up on this release we move to groovier territory with French duo M&C's Droofin'. Swinging percussion and warm, soft synths are undoubtedly the driving force behind this track. Old School grooves contrasted with luscious, slow-moving pads in the breakdowns combine to create an infectious and familiar house sound. In coherence with Junction's pattern, the final track on this release from German duo Dominik Fry and Skipio is as warm as you would expect. Hypnotising vocals, hovering subby pads and gentle arpeggiators characterise this melodic easy-listener.

This mind-bending 'Question and Answer EP', his second release on The Bunker New York. Igarashi is a lifelong musician and a professional sound designer by trade. Through decades of experience composing music he has developed a sophisticated and nuanced approach to production that allows him to evoke powerful moods and emotions. In recent years he has been applying his production skills to great effect, developing a distinctive brand of psychedelic techno that has been released on labels including Midgar, Semantica and Time to Express. Describing his creative development, Igarashi tells us: 'the more I produce and play, the more I discover. I keep finding different aspects or nuances of making and performing techno music. This process of learning and constantly going deeper is very exciting for me, it is unlike anything else I have experienced before. I am appreciative of the opportunities I have been getting and I just want to pursue them as far as I can, it is deeply motivating doing something I love with people I respect.'

A chance encounter at Berghain in February of 2015 connected Wata with Bryan Kasenic, founder of The Bunker New York, who already knew and loved his music. As a result of this meeting, The Bunker released a very well received podcast from Wata later that year, which was followed by Igarashi's 'Mood of the Machines EP' in 2016. The relationship has further deepened through working together on this follow up record and Wata making his North American debut as a DJ at The Bunker in September of 2017. According to Igarashi, the 'Question and Answer EP' is 'about communication and connections, so it makes sense for it to be on The Bunker NY, a label that features so many friends and artists that inspire me. My relationship with Bryan has been an important and rewarding one for me, and I am really happy to be working with him again on this record.' These rewards quickly become obvious on a dance floor with unfurling infinite arpeggiations working themselves out with the inexorable driving force that can be found in truly great techno. The EP opens with tense and driving 'Outburst', which is complemented by the slow-burning 'Train of Thought'. The B side features the title track, a beautifully unfolding number geared for generating powerful moments of release on the dancefloor. The EP finishes in style with the downtempo vibes of 'Broken Telephone'. Versatile enough to be dropped during peaks or at other times, this new EP from Igarashi boasts 4 equally kaleidoscopic cuts that will surely stand out in a set.

Arctor has a way of making music for moments where the crowd has just melted in the palm of the dancefloor. His latest EP bursts with kaleidoscopic melodies and streamlined percussion, continuing his run of sophisticated electro euphoria.

‘Escape’ opens with a chilled groove, locking down a vocal hook with grounded kicks while cosmic synth arps peel away into space. And for anyone who loves a good stepper, they’ll find a load of synth-infused chugging acid keeping its cool on ‘Bad Blood.’

Exploding Head Syndrome drips a wistful synthline over lush pads, invoking 80s glitz and sunset drives before it plummets into a fierce, sleek drum pattern. Gritty vocals skitter over stabs and traces of acid: an adrenaline shot to the ears, but also full of soulful feeling.

Second on the B-side, ‘Heartless World’ serves up cross-beat chords and skipping snares at 152 bpm, resulting in a swift and suave electro number. Lastly, ‘United’ rekindles the carefree sweetness we heard back on Arctor’s Memory Gene EP, backed by a relaxed electro beat made for after-hours and morning sets.

Berlin/Barcelona based OFF Recordings is run by Andre Crom, focusing its sound to different shades of techno.

In the past 2 years, the label has featured the likes of Charlotte de Witte, Cari Lekebusch, Luca Agnelli, TWR72 and a selection of other well-known and emerging artists. The previous OFF Recordings release from DEAS picked up feedback and support from the likes of Slam, Pan-Pot, Adam Beyer, Cristian Varela and Amelie Lens.

This new release is from German born Arnd Reichow aka Drumcomplex, who recently contributed a remix to Man With No Shadow's EP for OFF Recordings.

Drumcomplex makes a welcome return with his debut solo release of original music, where his back catalogue also includes contributions to Carl Cox's Intec, Traum, Bush, and his own Complexed Records.

Track one Eyesight' has a rolling groove with a mechanical percussion sequence made with military precision. Dark and pounding, vocal stabs washed in delay bounce round the mix creating an impression of vast open space, whilst the lead synths adds a tense sense of urgency to this techno stomper.

The second track Definition' opens with fast flowing hi-hats and the thud of the kick drum before introducing the menacing tones of the arpeggiated lead synth, which alongside the sinister vocals, gives the track a fearsome atmosphere. Not for the faint-hearted, this brutal cut of techno is a certified dancefloor smasher made for peak time club sets.

Finishing the release is Complex' which has epic synths that full of texture, paint pictures of dystopian landscapes. Understated and intelligent this is the deepest track on the EP, but anything it lacks in ferocity is compensated by its mysterious atmosphere and intricate production, which at times is almost cinematic.
